Salahs last game today lads, he will be gone by Tuesday.

1.) 27 Aug 2023 15:28:47
G is it you or someone else, really like Tuesdays for signings and now sales?

As long as the money is very good then so be it, nothing we can do, I mentioned the other day there would be a magic number, if the “sale” is correct.

It may be why in appearance we are stalling on further purchases.

2.) 27 Aug 2023 15:35:26
I actually feel like you may be right on this one, we will know at the final whistle as it will be written all over his face! I’m conflicted by this one but if the fee is right and we can get a few reinforcements then we move on like we did with coutinho! You never want to see your best players leave but we have been guilty of holding on to players for too long in the past.

3.) 27 Aug 2023 15:36:55
Salah playing.

4.) 27 Aug 2023 15:37:24
Again, if a fee's agreed, surely he wouldn't play against Newcastle?

5.) 27 Aug 2023 15:52:23
As far as I can tell it's just started by Richard Keys. So I hope it is nonsense because he is always wrong about us.

{Ed014's Note - that and Keys is a W⚓️

6.) 27 Aug 2023 15:54:27
OMG everything is a mess this season.

7.) 27 Aug 2023 16:18:05
Ill go with Ed014, I wouldn't listen to a thing that comes out of d*cks mouth! Can't see Salah leaving to be honest, think he wouldn't be playing against Newcastle if he was.

8.) 27 Aug 2023 17:20:45
TopG is just another Harry account right?

9.) 27 Aug 2023 17:24:10
To be fair you couldn’t blame Salah if he did leave. The money is ridiculous but more importantly you just see Liverpool struggling to compete this season. The recruitment for last few years has been poor. The tactics strange too. Trent’s had a disaster today. Robertson not much better. Would’ve left Diaz on rather than Gapko.

10.) 27 Aug 2023 17:26:03
I do appreciate what Salah has done for us but I am actually begging it to be true.
Soon after klopp to go and then a proper rebuild and see us rise once again.

11.) 27 Aug 2023 17:29:11
Don't think so Taurus, however topG is another troll like Harry who frequents the neverton page as much as here. I wonder why.

12.) 27 Aug 2023 19:36:30
Keys c@^t absolutely hates us cos his bumchum Gray does.

13.) 27 Aug 2023 19:46:15
I don't troll and never have, i post the odd sarcastic and satirical post but don't send abuse so all tongue in cheek from here. And no I'm not harry.

14.) 27 Aug 2023 20:26:56
If Salah leaves and we somehow got Mbappe to fill the void. now that would be fab, even if unrealistic.

15.) 27 Aug 2023 20:34:46
That's something Harry would say.

16.) 27 Aug 2023 22:58:59
Nothing from Ed002, makes me a tad nervous ?.

17.) 27 Aug 2023 23:03:22
an Lfc fan wanting Salah and Klopp gone?.

18.) 27 Aug 2023 23:21:48
I've got total confidence in Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Diaz with a sprinkling of Doak too.

19.) 28 Aug 2023 06:03:36
@Oh2b, get rid of arguably the best right side attacker in the world and one of the best half dozen managers in the world and then start a “proper rebuild”, eh?

What would a “proper rebuild” look like if we can’t buy any players until January, at least and there are no ready made candidates to step into the managers job?

20.) 28 Aug 2023 08:22:17
@wdw klopp has passed his prime. He's been found out. Basically he's turning into Jose2'0 got nothing much left to offer. It's sad but I recon he needs time off and a fresh start elsewhere.
As for Salah quite possibly the most overrated player in the history of the game. The sooner he goes hopefully with a relatively big fee the better for the team.
Basically Salah is what Ronaldo ended up being for utd. We all love him but a hindrance to the team.

{Ed001's Note - you have to be trolling now neggy. Otherwise this is the worst take on football ever and I have sat in a room listening to Robbie Savage talk about football.}

21.) 28 Aug 2023 08:46:32
Oh2BN. now that must be the most overrated post in history

Well done, you got a reaction out of me. shame on me!

22.) 28 Aug 2023 08:56:45
O2B is just overegging an interesting omelette.

It's actually an interesting discussion - where exactly are Klopp and Salah in the current state of things? - and I wish to was engaged with a lot more sensibly as a discussion.

23.) 28 Aug 2023 08:58:38
If Salah was a hindrance we wouldn’t be scratching our heads trying to think of a viable replacement.
If Klopp had been found out it’s a shame Pochettino and Howe couldn’t beat his teams when playing at home.

Go and have a lie down neggie, this is not your time.

24.) 28 Aug 2023 08:55:35
@edd 1 no trolling mate. I genuinely feel that way. I also believe that if klopp wasn't such a likable rouge but Say had the characteristics of Hodgson many more would be saying the same.
@JLCBM, you realise People can have different opinions. I personally think I am right and you're wrong but I don't call you out just because I don't agree with you.

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't just talking about that, I was also talking about your completely laughable assessment of Salah. If you think a player that is so disrespected constantly is overrated then you need help. He is one of the greatest players we have ever had and if you can't see that then you are the problem.}

25.) 28 Aug 2023 09:23:32
Faith works I think you’re incapable of any constructive criticism. Selling Salah would be a ridiculous decision with no replacement.

26.) 28 Aug 2023 09:52:06
Salah isn’t a great finisher imo but what a player pace strength trickery direct workrate.

Klopp is class still. Working against clubs with mega budgets and still competitive. Last years was disappointing I don’t think anyone could see the midfield collapse like that especially after the previous season. Both world class form is temporary class is permanent.

27.) 28 Aug 2023 09:58:24
Jesus, surely negative ain't a real fan?! If so he must be one of the worst! I'm sorry but can't take that sort of nonsense seriously.

28.) 28 Aug 2023 10:15:51
@Oh2b, did you see the 93rd minute of the game? Salah had been running his a##e off for an hour an a half and threaded a ball through into space for Núñez to hit without breaking stride. If he was finished there is no way that he is there in the first place, that he sees the ball and plays it to perfection. That’s just one example - watch was he does in real time and put aside the pre-written script that tells you he is finished.

29.) 28 Aug 2023 10:18:24
Harryhy I can give you 187 reasons why you’re wrong about Salah. The evidence suggests he’s a very good finisher. I can easily name 10 forwards who are worse finishers than him and then 10 more and then 10 more…and so on. You don’t average 20 goals every season without being a great finisher.

We’re still short squad wise, we do lack a defensive midfielder who has some physical presence, but getting 7 points out of the first three games with two of them being away at Newcastle and Chelsea is a very good start whatever way you look at it.

30.) 28 Aug 2023 10:33:23
I suspect it's very possible if the right player was available to replace him, but that's narrowed down pretty much to Mbappe. He will very likely go next year and he will surely want a proper goodbye and thank you for being an amazing player. Salah loves the fans more than I think some people give him respect for.

31.) 28 Aug 2023 11:01:44
Strangest thread of all time, from the assessment of 'wrong sub' in a game where ultimately the sub choices won the game, to the take on Klopp and Salah. They are not controversial but considered opinions, they're just moronic.

32.) 28 Aug 2023 11:09:03
O2B is negativeredwalter, right? Has to be the same troll making moronic posts just to get a reaction. Surely no actual fan would wish to be right about such negative outlooks.

Funny how he disappeared when Liverpool won things then reappeared in the middle of a dodgy season under a new alias after saying exactly the same stuff before we won champions league and premier league.

33.) 28 Aug 2023 11:32:28
Frode - had to go back to see what I'd written lol I'm not sure about the constructive criticism part and how it relates to what I said?

Perhaps I should elaborate. If we don't replace Mo straight away, then I am saying I have total confidence in those lads. If we do replace him straight away than hip hip hooray, but I'm not dying in a ditch over it.

34.) 28 Aug 2023 10:37:58
@ edd 1, I think not being as bright as you and some of the other posters my thoughts are not expressed as clearly as intended.
I'd agree Salah was one of our greatest players that's not in doubt but it's a case of was. Lost a tincy bit of pace which hasn't helped him. Continuous shooting straight at the keeper when either side would result in a goal.
His assist stats are somewhat impressive but far too many times he will take a shot when a simple pass would result in a goal. Mane comes to mind when you think how many goals he missed out on because of this.
Anyway I appreciate your thoughts and comments and hopefully you can do some more cracking articles etc. Best wishes xx.

{Ed001's Note - seriously Neggy, every top forward does the same. Even Haaland at times. But you are forgetting this isn't an outright centre forward getting those numbers, this is a winger.}

35.) 28 Aug 2023 12:28:23
I'm a Chelsea fan that enjoys reading other fans opinions. Have to say that Salah shout is awful, he's one of the best players in premier league history and probably in the top 3 players in enfland for the past 5+ years. Klopp i have my own opinions on (don't like him but respect him) but calling Salah overrated is almost laughable. Him and Haaland are the only players in this league that are guaranteed over 20 goals every season.

36.) 28 Aug 2023 12:33:55
Well he is called Neggie for a reason ???. Post of the year ?.

37.) 28 Aug 2023 12:59:36
@O2BN. isn't that the basis of a conversation, to call someone out when you have different opinions?

Of course you're entitled to your own opinion, regardless how moronic it may be.

38.) 28 Aug 2023 14:06:37
The only lesson learnt in this thread is: question Salah at your peril.

Maybe if O2BN had been as measured in his later posts than his baiting first, then this could have been an interesting thread. Now it's just bottom barrelling.

Thoughts as to whether we have, or have not, hit that sweet spot of "player value/ player decline" ratio with Salah? Fair question.

39.) 28 Aug 2023 14:16:46
Negative, how many PL goals and assists to you reckon Salah will get this season?

40.) 28 Aug 2023 14:40:41
Ah Walter you never fail to amuse me I'll give you that lol.

41.) 29 Aug 2023 05:14:06
Ok, so it’s Tuesday. What time will Salah be off then OP?

42.) 30 Aug 2023 09:40:42
It's Wednesday now. I assume Salah left yesterday and the club just haven't announced it?

10 Aug 2023 18:20:50
Thiago has rejected a £12 million move to Al ahly, apparently he's holding out for Barcelona.

1.) 10 Aug 2023 20:20:34
Oh just Fook off thiago. if he's holding out for Barcelona he wants out. get shut.

2.) 10 Aug 2023 20:29:27
Harsh on Thiago.

3.) 10 Aug 2023 20:31:42
For once I agree with you Magico. I was so excited when we signed Thiago but he struts about like he’s god’s gift whilst leaving us wide open in midfield.

It just hasn’t worked, ship him out asap.

4.) 10 Aug 2023 20:34:43
Maybe harsh but he needs to go. Sorry I know he's class on his day lads but come on. he's draining funds for someone else. He hasn't really done much for us.

5.) 10 Aug 2023 20:39:27
@magico

Telling Thiago to f*** off based on a rumour? YNWA?

6.) 10 Aug 2023 20:40:48
Magico he could have went to Saudi and he didn’t. We’re lucky to have him.

{Ed025's Note - really?..

7.) 10 Aug 2023 20:43:14
I want Thiago to stay for purely selfish reasons - I just love watching him play.

If he plays 10, 15, or 20 games, you have to admit, the guy is just majestic. I absolutely adore his control, passing and reading of the game. Surely, we're all in it for what we actually see on the pitch?

If we can control his minutes (and injuries), he'll be great for us this season, I'd like to think.

It's obvious he has one year left on his contract, we're not going to extend it - of that, I'm sure. I actually love the idea of him going on a free and going home to Barca, it seems right, in some way.

{Ed025's Note - it may be right for him PV. But what about Liverpool mate?..

8.) 10 Aug 2023 20:47:37
I’m a big fan of this site. But it does feel like things are more toxic than they’ve ever been. May be time for a wee break from my daily visit.

{Ed025's Note - you have a point RS. But do what’s right for you mate..

9.) 10 Aug 2023 20:48:11
Must be the transfer fever becker mate haha.

10.) 10 Aug 2023 21:13:17
I know what you're saying Ed025, but considering the players that have left this season, we could do with his experience too.

In a perfect world, we would have gotten transfer fees for Keita, Ox and a few others - but, that hasn't happened (you'd hope that would be reviewed internally) .

I just love watching the guy play and I suspect a lot of neutral fans do too. We won't extend his contract, but I don't think we can afford to let him leave at 10M, considering the experience we've lost.

Thiago is just the player that we all wanted to be in the playground, he's incredible to watch. He's a luxury player, no doubt - but, you can't deny how incredible he is.

Plus, we probably still need him to be an interpreter for Darwin!

{Ed025's Note - but PV he will leave for nothing at the end of this season anyway mate, while still gleaning his £200k a week in the process, hardly an incentive to bust your balls every week i would suggest..

11.) 10 Aug 2023 21:33:26
Frozen whyvare we lucky to have him? If he could play every week id agree but his injury record is absolute ridiculous.
Navy maybe a bit harsh but i am sick of the club keeping players like him. he is only slighty better than naby and ox for time on that treatment table. He's loving it here as the eds says why wouldn't he be. But is he helping lfc at all?

26 Jul 2023 19:05:33
Are Liverpool interested in upamacano?

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 26 Jul 2023 19:34:17
Thank the lord we're not.

2.) 26 Jul 2023 19:59:48
Truly awful defender.

3.) 26 Jul 2023 20:06:54
Some of these questions man.

4.) 26 Jul 2023 20:08:26
And long may that lack of interest continue.

5.) 26 Jul 2023 20:49:25
Upamaguire. No thanks.

6.) 26 Jul 2023 21:24:45
No one is that bad thomas.

7.) 26 Jul 2023 21:42:23
Just trying to figure out who we are looking at as it seems colwill won't be happening or the Dutch lad. Haven't seen much in the news of us being linked to any other defenders.

8.) 26 Jul 2023 22:27:46
It’s a work in progress Jan. Give him a season and he’ll get to that level.

9.) 26 Jul 2023 23:13:04
Are there any other player Liverpool are not interested in Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - A chap from Gillingham apparently.}

10.) 27 Jul 2023 00:42:40
That's because the chap from Gillingham is off to Saudi, good luck to him.

11.) 27 Jul 2023 02:03:13
@TopG, you should ring the club and ask - they’d be the ones who know.

12.) 27 Jul 2023 03:24:20
He's the reason City beat Bayern so easily.

13.) 27 Jul 2023 05:57:40
Djimi Upamecano.

14.) 27 Jul 2023 06:17:07
Time was we had to sign Upemacano or FSG weren’t doing their job. For everyone we didn’t sign in the past 4 or 5 years not many of them turned out to be world beaters that we missed. If we’d have got what we wanted we would have wasted millions.

15.) 27 Jul 2023 16:17:42
Saying Upamecano is a truly awful defender is very clueless, and shows you only watched a couple of CL matches.

15 Jul 2023 11:34:14
Fabinho has travelled to Saudi for talks he's gone folks.

1.) 15 Jul 2023 11:45:52
Shame he lost a bit of pace as in his prime he was superb for us
Up the pool.

2.) 15 Jul 2023 11:48:34
Romano saying £40 million. Not bad!

09 Jul 2023 22:38:14
Folks on twitter saying szoboszali will play the inverted right back role with Trent centrally. Can't see it personally.

1.) 09 Jul 2023 23:07:45
Makes zero sense and I'm inclined to dismiss it out of hand. If Trent is central, then half the attraction of the IWB role for us (get Trent into central areas) is gone, imo.

2.) 10 Jul 2023 06:25:45
Sounds painful to watch so I can see it happening.

3.) 10 Jul 2023 08:27:48
As soon as you see "folks oh Tw@tter" you know it will be bollox.

02 Oct 2023 12:02:44
Ed 001 why do we import the world's best foreign players but not referees? Surely appointing the best refs in the world would lead to better decisions and more impartiality?

Half of these refs look like fat Barry from down the pub.

{Ed001's Note - because the PGMOL will never accept it is failing to produce top quality officials. It just lies and twists words to tell us all that they get all the decisions right.}

1.) 02 Oct 2023 12:28:57
Surely the FA could over rule them? from what I'm aware the bundesliga refs are of a much higher standard and I'm sure some would be interested in working over here for the right money.

In these days of equality and political wokenesss why do we only have white English middle ages refs? surprised the snowflakes haven't kicked off.

Even poach refs from the women's game, anything has to be better than these gammons we have now and it seems any criticism towards them they have a vendetta to make sure you get no decisions in the following games.

2.) 02 Oct 2023 12:30:12
ED01, their lies are getting worse cos the more they lie, the less people believe them and the more scrutiny they invite. Good.

{Ed001's Note - agreed. The arrogance of even creating a TV show to pump out their lies is astonishing.}

3.) 02 Oct 2023 12:36:38
Who are the best referees in the world? There have been several scandals in Italy for ref bribing and now Barcelona are being investigated for it in Spain. So they're hardly squeaky clean over there.

What are refs in the rest of Europe like?

The only thing I can think of that might help is an independent body to manage professional referees. The PGMOL's upper ranks is made up mostly of ex-refs, with one ex-manager on it. It stinks of an old boys club, to be honest. If there is a player, it's not anyone prominent enough for me to recognise. Surely it'd function better if there was a mix of ex-refs, ex-players and ex-managers / coaches on it?

4.) 02 Oct 2023 12:41:34
Just saying, but this is a great reason why diversity can be helpful. Just the same crap from the same old farts in the game.

5.) 02 Oct 2023 13:07:40
I thought they should be fit yeah? Because they will be running whole game. but they don't really seem fit.

6.) 02 Oct 2023 13:23:55
Apparently Germany something red. Usually world cups will use the best officials and the only controversy I remember at major international tournaments have involved English refs surprise surprise.

7.) 02 Oct 2023 15:03:10
Question Ed, PGMOL govern the referee right. So who govern PGMOL? They are separate from FA right?

{Ed002's Note - PGMOL is owned and funded jointly by the Premier League, the EFL, and The FA.}

8.) 02 Oct 2023 15:54:06
The whole sky show is really just to smooth Howard Webbs ego isn’t it.

Play the audio live and we don’t need a show to explain anything.

9.) 02 Oct 2023 16:55:23
Spot on, Ed. Just saw the show with Dermot Gallagher on trying to defend the PGMOL when each time Stephen Warnock was beaten the brakes off of him, challenging his (PGMOL's) stance on the disallowed goal.

Dermot literally made the point that it was better for the refs to follow protocol and not call the play back to award the goal and right and injustice in real time than to actually do whatever it took to make sure the correct decision was made, protocol be damned. Yep, this is the rubbish we are being afflicted with.

27 Sep 2023 23:25:23
Anyone seen Aston villas kit? Might be worth watching women's football after all ?.

1.) 28 Sep 2023 01:50:52
Don't get what you are trying to say? I assume sexidm in dome form?

2.) 28 Sep 2023 02:30:11
The Aston Villa kit retains sweat and clings to the body, creating a "wet-look" so it would be highly suggestive if the women's team were to play in it. I believe the male players have also complained about the kit since it gets heavy and have called for the manufacturer to fix the issue.

3.) 28 Sep 2023 02:40:33
Surprised this was allowed to get posted on here. Neanderthal thinking.

4.) 28 Sep 2023 04:33:42
Absolutely agree @TB2.

5.) 28 Sep 2023 06:39:03
Jesus, benny hill'd be down the Dole office these days wudn he?.

6.) 28 Sep 2023 08:08:06
Some woke posters on here! Are people not allowed a sense of humour?

7.) 28 Sep 2023 08:55:02
"Buuh wokists don't let you be funny anymore".

Wasn't aware Jimmy Carr posted on here.

8.) 28 Sep 2023 09:22:15
What does the critique of the post have to do with being woke?

The implication is that womens football are not worth watching unless there can be further sexualization of the players. Which is disrespectful no matter how you frame it.

You do understand that ethics and moral has been around forever, as has it been a huge virtue as a human being to be ethical? The wokeness bull is about one demographic defending another’s feelings on behalf of them. In this case some people shared their opinion on the “joke” - which wasn’t funny nor clever btw - and all there has been done was questioning why this was deemed as relevant for posting, as well as classifying the post for being small minded. Fair assessments I’d say.

9.) 28 Sep 2023 09:29:41
Apologies if I offended anyone, seems like you can't make a joke anymore, funny thing is you're only offended as there's an element of truth to the joke

Used to be a thing of if something triggers you then ignore it not whinge about it and try to make something out of nothing.

My Mrs found it funny.

10.) 28 Sep 2023 09:32:55
Everybody has a sense of humour.

Some people set the bar pretty low with what they regard as humour.

@Pegleg, can you get all your female relatives and friends Aston Villa kits, get them to put them on and then make them run around for an hour and a half and then post a picture on here. If you could get the good looking ones to stand at the front of the picture I’m sure we could all have a really hood laugh.

11.) 28 Sep 2023 09:50:59
The OP's post was sort of funny if it was a parody of that type of contributor.

12.) 28 Sep 2023 09:51:07
Poorly phrased post, TopG. Women’s football is well worth watching. The recent World Cup in Australia was excellent and the standard hasincreased in recent years.
Aston Villa tshirts would have been a bonus to the entertaining football in the same way there would be no shortage of women complaining if the Liverpool mens team were carved like Chippendales.

13.) 28 Sep 2023 09:58:16
I have no idea what the OP is on with that post.

14.) 28 Sep 2023 12:55:48
I thought it was funny mate. Does that make me sexist? No it doesn't its a bloody joke. lighten up guys. Banter? What banter site is this.

15.) 28 Sep 2023 14:14:55
Regardless of shirts and sexists comments I’m not a fan of women’s football. The quality is very poor and anyone who says different is just kidding themselves.

An international woman’s team would get beaten by most premier league under 15s boys teams. The gulf between top level men’s football and top level women’s football is that huge. It’s almost a completely different game.

I understand that a lot of people still enjoy watching it and that it has improved a lot in the last few years but I just find it boring and frustrating as they just can’t do what the men can do.

Each to their own I guess.

16.) 28 Sep 2023 15:35:57
Women’s football has come on leaps and bounds but as a spectacle it’s tediously slow. I struggle to watch it if I’m honest.

17.) 28 Sep 2023 16:10:56
My Mrs said to me the other day after work 'let me know when Aston Villa are playing on TV, I want to watch the game'. Took me a while before I realised about their new shirts ?

Just for clarity whe wasn't talking about the women's team, just the men's so is that ok?

My sister who is a lesbian wants to watch Villa women when my wife told her about the shirts (true story), does this make her a sexism neanderthal?

18.) 30 Sep 2023 00:56:10
@SzSz, if what you say is true it seems you live in a house of voyeurs.

That’s ok of course, if members of your family derive, shall we say, satisfaction from doing so, then so be it.

In that sense they share the same opinion as the (let’s be kind) OP that seemed to think that tight, wet clothing is a) funny b) a source of sexual gratification or c) both.

Whatever the case he (and perhaps your family) must have a hell of a time when it rains where he / you live.

11 Sep 2023 16:35:08
Agree with Everton being top

Would say Chelsea bottom as they just seem to buy players based on their fifa potential and now they’re paying them ridiculous salaries I can’t see them having the same motivation to succeed nor do I think many of them are bright prospects other than enzo. Can’t see them qualifying for Europe again but who knows it’s a funny old game.

1.) 11 Sep 2023 20:47:47
A good manager should be able to get that bunch of players working together-its worked for Roman in the past.
I do agree that somehow this approach could taint the outcome too, but I see CFC being a force once Moises starts playing well.

2.) 11 Sep 2023 21:00:05
It really is a mad situation. Chelsea seemed to buy everyone who everyone wanted and now they have nobody who anyone wants.

Feel like it going to take 2 or 3 years to get a team singing and pochard just won't be given that time.

3.) 11 Sep 2023 23:08:17
I honestly believe Chelsea could be relegated within 5 years. They can’t keep spending like they are without falling foul of FFP and they will find themselves with a team of unmotivated, average players when they realise it doesn’t matter how hard they work their contracts have already set them up for life.

They’ve spent £1billion on absolute dross. Such a poor way to run a football club, the backlash will be huge.

4.) 11 Sep 2023 23:25:12
There is plenty of quality at Chelsea, but there's also plenty of incredibly overpriced dross like Cucurella and Mudryk (someone please explain this guy to me. He's awful), as well as £70m dropped on Fofana who's on his third major injury at 22. A lot of what they have bought is potential rather than proven quality, and as Ed001 says, for all their spending they're yet to bring in a convincing goalkeeper or striker.

At best, they'll have a squad that'd be as good as one that someone who actually knew a bit about footie could've assembled for half the price or less.

At worst, they'll continue to play manager lottery for another few years without anyone really getting a proper go at moulding the squad in their own image. I certainly don't think Pochettino is all that special and I can see him continuing to struggle and being out rather quickly.

5.) 12 Sep 2023 07:58:48
Long may it continue. Couldn't happen to a nicer club.

6.) 12 Sep 2023 11:08:23
Not arsed about Chelsea.

7.) 12 Sep 2023 12:14:26
I believe Chelsea have a plan. 2030:and all the kiddies will be at their peak. They’ll have the best first team squad in Division Two.

8.) 12 Sep 2023 19:17:54
Something Red, Mudryk is completely baffling to me. Never saw him play for Shaktar but since he’s been at Chelsea i've not seen anything to suggest that Arsenal and Chelsea would be trying to do each other over to sign the guy. Then saw him Saturday and every time he got the ball he ran with it before falling over, then went off injured and didn't even look injured, just like he couldn't be arsed to run about anymore!

9.) 12 Sep 2023 19:35:26
Ok oli this post was meant to be in reply to Ed’s article but my phones been playing up.

20 Aug 2023 17:05:39
Ed001, I see you aren't a fan of Michael Edwards but are you aware of the stories circulating on twitter? Credible or not they are getting a lot of traction.

The first is that Edwards wanted Henderson replaced two seasons ago with Bruno guimares but was ignored.

He then recommend we replaced fabinho with Enzo Fernandez the following season, both players were available at a fraction of what they are worth in today's market.

Apparently this was the reason Edwards left as he was ignored, if this is true then it's an absolute disgrace because both of them players are world class with potential to be even better.

{Ed001's Note - if they are true then that is not making him look better as he was in the position to make the choice. It does seem like more myth-building though. Those players might well have been available for less, but there is no guarantee they would have worked out for us.}

1.) 20 Aug 2023 17:24:21
An absolute disgrace?
Dear, oh dear.

2.) 20 Aug 2023 17:39:56
Just imagine a midfield of Trent Bruno Enzo szob with McAllister jones bajcetic Elliot as rotation. The post states he requested we sign these players as his data analysis showed that hendo. and fab where declining physically but fsg denied the request basically playing Scrooge and ignoring his opinion to save a few quid. That's why I called it a disgrace because as much as fsg saved us they are now milking us it seems.

3.) 20 Aug 2023 17:28:25
Get a grip Ed, Klopp got his way and it messed us up. Edwards should have been listened to.

{Ed001's Note - he was Klopp's boss, it is not me who needs to get a grip. Nor is there any need for your attitude.}

4.) 20 Aug 2023 18:06:15
Enzo is extremely overrated. How many other players did Edwards also recommend? Probably 30 odd but those flops aren't mentioned, an extremely inflammatory agenda has been written by a lazy journo and some gullible fans have taken the bait.

{Ed001's Note - it is also bollox and lies by topg as FSG had nothing to do with the transfer decisions. I wish ignorant bull crap like that had not been posted without it being pointed out it was a downright lie.}

5.) 20 Aug 2023 18:44:39
Agreed Enzo overrated. Chelsea today w him and Gallagher have bigger issues in the middle than we do.

Have to hand it to Brighton losing Bissouma Caicedo and McAllister still playing great stuff. The market is always a gamble. I think w McAllister and Dom S we've done fantastic business for the price of an Enzo, Rice and now Caicedo.

Can't change history now. Lessons being learned here it seems. New DM this week hopefully. CB would be icing on the transfer window cake.

6.) 20 Aug 2023 18:48:18
TopG you have an agenda against FSG so you have searched for stories that confirm your agenda and you will readily take anything that does confirm your agenda as fact and call it an ‘absolute disgrace’.

Any stories that don’t confirm your agenda you will dismiss as lies.

It’s called Confirmation Bias.

In reality it’s very unlikely that anything you’ve said has any truth to it whatsoever for the reasons Ed1 has mentioned.

7.) 20 Aug 2023 18:54:06
If it says it on Twitter, it must be true.
Would we have signed Alexis and Szob because of Edward's had we already signed Bruno G and Enzo F because of Edward's?

8.) 20 Aug 2023 18:54:16
So basically you’re making an argument for him being a damn good scout but a poor DoF. ?‍♂️.

9.) 20 Aug 2023 19:01:38
It always amazes me when a grown adult repeats something they saw on Twitter.

10.) 20 Aug 2023 19:03:04
I stopped reading when i saw its on twitter. you know what else i saw on there today? That we are close to signing mbappe.

11.) 20 Aug 2023 19:17:37
I stopped reading cos it makes no odds. All ifs and buts.

12.) 20 Aug 2023 19:20:01
Anyone remember what happened when it was hinted in the media that Hendo would be let run his old contract down, or be sold before he did?

Was it #FSGOUT! trending all over Twitter? I think it was, wasn't it?

Everyone is right with the benefit of hindsight, aren't they?

13.) 20 Aug 2023 19:58:03
How desperate some are to find something to feel outraged over.

14.) 20 Aug 2023 20:05:10
Ok people all I asked is an opinion if true I never once said it was, you can put the knives away now.

15.) 20 Aug 2023 20:12:44
As Ed said, Edwards was Klopps boss, if he really wanted the players and was 100% sure they were right for us, he should have grown a pair and got them. But nothing happened. Its all crap.

I am getting so tired of peoples agenda's on here. All I hear is FSG out or Klopp out or this or that. I have been a LFC support for over 30 years, I was there for Fagan, Dalglish, Souness, Evans, etc. And I remember what the previous owners did and what nearly happened to the club. Neither Klopp nor FSG are perfect by any means, but they don't deserve the crap that goes at them. We may not have the money of Chelsea, Man City, Newcastle, but to be honest when I saw the money we were looking at paying for Caceido I felt sick, it didn't feel like a Liverpool signing, I am loving the Endo signing. He came on as a sub and didn't concede a penalty, looked comfortable on the ball and I love his reading of the game and the interception he made.

I hope we do get another MD, DM and CB but would expect only 1 or 2 of those and the other in Jan. Personally I hope for Doucoure, Amrabat and a CB.

It has always been said, that if the right player is found, the money would be there. Anyone can have an opinion, but when things are made up or lies spouted just for an agenda it winds me up.

Right now I have vented I am going to finish my drink. Have a good night all.

16.) 20 Aug 2023 20:18:26
Maybe, just maybe, Edwards left after a decade at the club where he was part of a successful backroom team who won every trophy available to an english top flight club for the reasons he actually said and there's no sour grapes or fallout or anything controversial about it. Sounds crazy in these times of speculation and conspiracy theories I know.

17.) 20 Aug 2023 21:14:19
TopG - you didn’t need to say it was true. The angle you’re wanting is pretty clear. Also did you say that FSG tried to save a buck by not selling Hendo/ fab and not buying enzo / Bruno cheap?
Can ya make that lie make sense?

18.) 20 Aug 2023 21:48:08
Faith the sites called Liverpool rumours and that is a rumour.

19.) 20 Aug 2023 21:57:57
And we signed Mac and Szob after Edwards had gone so how could we imagine them and Bruno F and Enzo F and still give him credit for that midfield?

20.) 20 Aug 2023 23:02:26
It’s Liverpool rumours not liverpoool conspiracies.

21.) 20 Aug 2023 23:25:35
TopG and his fellow conspiracy theorists need to do one and stop trying to exonerate their Dear Leader in Edwards and throwing everyone else under the bus to suit their agendas. The worst thing is that they are not even good at it. Twitter? Is that all you got? Edwards was Klopp's boss, as Ed has said. If he could not convince or make the case to his his employee in Klopp to do what he thought was right then, that's on him. What tha football does FSG have to do with any of this?

"He was ignored". Is that so? Who ignored him? Let me guess, FSG who don't handle transfer issues? Klopp is employee? If he was being ignored or blown off by those beneath him then, he is prolly not this guru and genius you and your ilk make him out to be; Bet you didn't think about that now, did you? And who says that had we signed Enzo and the other lad at that time, they would have panned out? Again, you people are really not good at this cos you haven't covered any of your basis.

THese people just sound like pundits who act like wise guys after all the facts have been known years later to push their anti-FSG agenda. Take a day off, lads. Your bro. Edwards was not very good at his job. Get over it and get over yourselves. Embarrassing.

22.) 21 Aug 2023 01:44:29
Edwards should be remembered fondly imo

But at the same time, this revisionist history using innuendo passed off as fact is just cheap and tbh, I feel sorry for the people who are falling for it.

I still don't understand how someone would fall for the idea that FSG wouldn't sell Hendo because they didn't want to buy Bruno for cheap, cos apparently they would save money? And then last season apparently Edwards wanted to replace our CDM with Enzo? That didn't happen cos FSG were being scrooge? So FSG didn't want to sell Fabinho to buy Enzo on the cheap, but then they splash a cool 80mil on Nunez. Man, this one is a mess.

23.) 21 Aug 2023 04:36:58
The answer to the original question is that it was Edwards who held ultimate approval for purchases. If he’d really wanted the players in question, he could have bought the. Everything else on the thread after that is irrelevant.

24.) 21 Aug 2023 07:33:44
I can see why you’re called Mr Bean advocating this Twitter crusade against Klopp for turning his nose against every supposed big talent in Europe, what a load of rubbish. The Ed makes a number of good points about Edwards’ conduct, including some questionable signings he did make.

25.) 21 Aug 2023 07:59:43
I’m sure I’ve read on here many times that Klopp gets the final say on transfers ??‍♂️.

{Ed001's Note - he does. But only because those above him defer to his choices as he has such a well-proven track record. He has always been willing to listen to those around him on signings though, including stats guys. If push came to shove the Sporting Director is his boss and could overrule him if he chose to do so. That is what he is there to do and should have done. If a director is so weak that he will not overrule his subordinate when he feels it is right to do so, then he is not a good director.}

26.) 21 Aug 2023 08:16:05
TopG did you happen to read this "rumour" on the comments page of Football365?

02 Aug 2023 19:05:03
Any chance of a match report please ed 01? Thought we were shocking defensively today and Trent needs to stay away from right back permanently now.

{Ed001's Note - yes but it won't be done today as the sites have been too busy for me to even get started.}

1.) 02 Aug 2023 21:46:27
I didn't see the game today but sounds like it was eventful lol.
Additions are quickly required, two minimum and three ideally for me.
A couple of injuries to the first choice midfielders and we'll have another difficult season in store.

2.) 02 Aug 2023 21:58:14
Or stay at right back. One or the other. Not this hybrid stuff. It's a mess. Watching Robbo and Tsmimikas even try is painful to watch. We have such good attacking thinking players, we don't need to try this outside of the box stuff, in terms of how we line up.

A top 4 challenge is all i expect as things stand.

Diaz goal today though was fantastic so still well worth a watch.

Come on Klopp work some more magic.

3.) 03 Aug 2023 06:27:01
Ed1 - I can’t see us not playing this hybrid system unless our season spirals like last season…. do you see it the same way?

We understand the tactics of it and to get Trent into dangerous positions but it’s hard to watch and think that the positives outweigh the negatives.

Just wondered if you have any insight as to their thinking? It looks like they’re going to persist with it and basically work hard on training the players to cover the gaps as best they can. Feels like a mistake to me. How bout you?

{Ed001's Note - I said from the start I don't like it and it has not grown on me, in fact quite the opposite. I found myself writing notes on the game against Bayern and mingled in with them were lots of expletives about the system! It is cack. City found it unworkable after years of trying, so why are we going for it? I hate when people try to be clever for the sake of proving they are clever and look for the complicated way of doing something. The best way to do something is the easiest, most simple way. The more you complicate something, the more potential there is for errors.

I don't understand why it is not bloody obvious that if you want Trent in the centre, you play Trent in the centre. Not on the right coming in to the centre. It is infuriatingly idiotic to watch this system and not see that glaring problem. The stupidity in sending Ramsay out on loan when he meant that we then had no need to put Trent at right-back is also a part of the problem.

The obsession over flooding the centre is baffling. Surely the way to win is to create space to exploit, not to clog up space?}

4.) 03 Aug 2023 07:56:09
I agree Ed001. I don’t see the lint of overcomplicating things. 4-3-3 with Trent at fullback worked fine for years albeit he has his defensive flaws. He gives plenty going forward without having to be central. Given it’s such a mess wouldn’t it be best to go back to what worked before and just get on with it?

{Ed001's Note - but we still have a gap in midfield then. I think the best thing is to put Trent in as the holding mid and play the 4-3-3.}

5.) 03 Aug 2023 08:20:58
It's a friendly so results don't matter regardless, but a lot of people saying "it's only Bayern" are way off. This is an awful Bayern side who were comfortably beaten by Villareal, made to look like a pub team by a City side who never got out of 2nd gear and pushed all the way by a bang average Dortmund team.

If we're not good enough to put Bayern away easily in a competitive game then we don't get anywhere near a title challenge.

{Ed001's Note - they were terrible but made us look like amateurs.}

6.) 03 Aug 2023 08:21:22
Ed001. Would not the potential midfield incomings solve the 6 role and does Trent have the discipline to play the 6? And who goes right back or is it a three at the back?

{Ed001's Note - and what happens if we have an injury or suspension? Just put Trent in there and buy a defender who will stay fit. Bradley at rightback.}

7.) 03 Aug 2023 08:33:03
Fair enough Ed001. Thanks.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

8.) 03 Aug 2023 08:54:42
Completely agree Ed however I think sending Ramsey on loan to get fit and much needed game time was crucial, if Bradley hadn’t had such a great season it would of made no sense but I think it’s Bradley’s position to lose this season I think he’s a definite starter, I can’t see klopp persisting with Trent in this Rb/ inverted role it’s just a total horror show, but then again klopp is so stubborn it’s often detrimental like pairing Henderson and Fabinho as cb’ for almost an entire season.

{Ed001's Note - the only reason to send Ramsay out on loan is if you are intending to continue with this stupid hybrid role, as then you have Trent and Bradley. But that is of no benefit to Ramsay as he will be playing as a right-back, not a hybrid there, so gaining nothing for the future with us. It is idiotic to loan out a player unless they are going to play the way you envisage them playing for you. He should have stayed and then we could safely play Trent as a proper mid and dump this ludicrous tactical set up that is going to cost us badly.}

9.) 03 Aug 2023 09:24:11
The commitment to this hybrid system is clear. Which means have a lot to do - in the market and on the training pitch.

I’ll reserve my concerns until the window is closed.

{Ed001's Note - it won't matter who plays when the system is so badly flawed it will not work.}

10.) 03 Aug 2023 09:42:41
If Pep couldn't make this system work then we need to take notice of that.

I'm not singing his praises, but Pep can only work with intelligent players - just look how long it took him to win the league with City, after having to get rid of the whole team basically

Point being, if a coach, who only works with intelligent players cannot make a system work, then it may be an exercise in futility to try and use that system.

11.) 03 Aug 2023 09:50:30
I’d be inclined to agree with you, Ed, but I’ll hold fire until preseason is finished and a handful of games are out of the way.

{Ed001's Note - the problem is that we did that last season and look how it went. Klopp can't be waiting, he has tried the system, it has failed miserably and now it is time to dump it and go for a set up that works before it is too late.}

12.) 03 Aug 2023 10:08:16
I don't disagree, Ed.
I got tired of being annoyed at Klopp and Ljinders last season. Admittedly I am having a summer break from that.

A part of me hoped we would add/ change up some coaching personnel this summer too. Doesn't look like that is happening.

{Ed001's Note - I can understand that, it does get tiresome being annoyed at someone.

I agree, Lijnders should have been out of the door a long time ago, no idea why he is still here. We need fresh ideas from assistants who actually understand the role of being an assistant, rather than ones who think they know more than anyone else. They should not have big egos, their job is to get the best from the big egos around them. Klopp is the big ego that leads the team, he needs foils not competitors.}

13.) 03 Aug 2023 10:22:17
ED01 - would you agree we have some of the best attacking talents in the league/ Europe and therefore it makes this hybrid some even more ridiculous? Buy a proper right back and left sided centre back and move Trent permanently to midfield. We'll be balanced better and still score a lot of goals and at least avoid one long pass breaching our defence.

{Ed001's Note - defo mate. That is exactly how I see it. There is no need for this ridiculously overcomplicated approach to a very simple game. If anything the route to success is simplifying it. Surely Guardiola should show that? Every time his team has let him down in big games it is because he overcomplicates things trying to be clever. When he just keeps it simple and let's his team play their game they can beat anyone.}

14.) 03 Aug 2023 10:23:40
Why do we insist on playing a new system then refuse to spend the money to buy the players needed for it to actually work?

15.) 03 Aug 2023 10:46:50
This from Thomas^.

16.) 03 Aug 2023 10:50:01
I'd imagine he has Joe Times in his thinking for right back cover alongside Bradley hence the Ramsey loan.

17.) 03 Aug 2023 10:55:47
Great stuff from Ed001.

I totally agree with your common sense. Especially about the right back situation.

Excellent posts from Ed001. ?.

18.) 03 Aug 2023 11:05:32
Thomas194 - Because no matter what players we buy, we are not winning a bean with this system. Man City have the deepest, most technically gifted squad in the world yet they couldn’t make it work. Liverpool don’t have a hope in hell of doing it.
Teams are successful when the game plan is simple and allows the elite players to play whilst making sure they remember their team responsibilities. Madrid have won five Champions Leagues in the past decade with a very simple game plan revolving mainly around letting the top players do what they do.
I just constantly get the impression Liverpool are a club with a collective ego unrepresentative of what they’ve actually achieved.

19.) 03 Aug 2023 11:07:12
What system did City finish the season with?

20.) 03 Aug 2023 11:22:13
I agree Lowe, but Real Madrid won 5 Champions Leagues because they have loads of world-class match-winners who all have a proven ability to single-handedly win big games on their own. We only have one of those players realistically, and we're priced out of signing players like that so we have to try to be more methodical and use a specific system.

It worked for years (although admittedly we had 2 Ronaldo/ Benzema style match-winners in Mane and Salah) . Problem is now we don't have a team of players fine-tuned to a specific system.

21.) 03 Aug 2023 11:22:50
This mess is self inflicted.

Best team in the world 5 years ago and now i wouldn’t put money on us finishing above Aston Villa

Every mistake along the way has been made in the transfer window, and Now we’re making more mistakes in this current one.

22.) 03 Aug 2023 11:27:19
Thats hybrid @JK. Manchester city has won 4 league titles in the last 5 years playing the hybrid system.
where do people get this crap that Hybrid doesn't produce results I don't know.
City will pack their defense now more than ever with Gvardiol and Diaz.

23.) 03 Aug 2023 11:59:00
On the plus side playing this system is always a good bet for both teams to score, won me a few quid last season, would have won me a bit more if Alisson wasn't so bloody good.

24.) 03 Aug 2023 11:25:27
Ed01 - agree with every single word mate. Well said.

{Ed001's Note - thank you HessleRed. And Habibi you clearly have no idea what that means. City did not play the hybrid system. They played a system of a line of centre-backs with one who moved into midfield and could then simply drop back into defence, much the same as Pep's original Barca played, but with a midfielder who would drop back when the ball was lost, rather than a defender who moved forward when the team got the ball. They dropped the hybrid system where full-backs were expected to play in midfield and then still get back and defend as full-backs as there was too much distance for them to cover and it was leaving them too open. Sounds familiar right?}

25.) 03 Aug 2023 12:28:37
have we refused to sign players to fit the system?

anyways, I totally agree ed1. I'm learning to hate this system. Initially I liked it because it brought about a new lease of life for Trent and I do want that, but much rather he just move into the midfield and be a midfielder.

I can't see any CDM or CB in the history of world football who can make this system work over the course of a system. we'll be running our team into the ground. It's crazy.

What do you thinking is driving this insanity?

{Ed001's Note - well Klopp is in charge, but it does seem very much Lijnders who is coming up with the recent tactical changes. Which is why I would like a different assistant, one that doesn't want to be clever and just wants to win. However, Klopp should be clever enough to spot that these last few tactical shifts are not working and figure something else out. It is up to him to say thank you but no thank you to his assistants and change them if they are not giving him the right assistance.}

26.) 03 Aug 2023 13:20:00
Pep played both Zinchenko and / or Cancelo in the middle something klopp today does with Trent. its similar. Had absolutely no problem winning almost all the trophies to offer.
As for Barcelona may be I am wrong but I don't recall the hybrid. it was always Busquets / Xavi and Iniesta in the middle with Alves, Puyol, Pique and Abidal at the back.

simply put we have to buy a world class DM, CM and a LCB or work.

{Ed001's Note - you really need to go back and look at what Pep did. He rarely played either in the middle after a failed experiment when he first took over City. Cancelo sometimes could make it work to a degree, but they only won everything after the system was dumped.

So you don't realise what a hybrid is then. That explains it as you fail to see that Busquets played a hybrid role as a midfielder who dropped into the centre back position. They also used Mascherano in a similar role.}

27.) 03 Aug 2023 16:18:48
Pep is also able to play a more flexible system because he has so many players who can play in multiple positions. Ake and Akanji can play full back and CB, Stones cam play CB and DM. Pretty much all of their attacking players bar Haaland (De Bruyne, Foden, Bernardo, Grealish) are equally capable of playing in the front 3 or midfield 3, many can play both sides.

The system they play works because the players all float around the pitch in different ways, and the squad seems bigger than it is because whenever they have an injury there is always someone who can fill into a position comfortably.

None of our forwards are capable of playing in midfield, Szobo is the only midfielder capable of playing in the attack. The full backs can't play CB and the CB's can't play full back. Most of our players are unique profiles, where City's are mainly very similar.

If we wanted to emulate them we would have to rip our entire squad up and start again. The more sensible idea is to just stop trying to do what they do and revert back to what made us successful previously.

{Ed001's Note - Ake also was a midfielder and always said that was where he saw his future in the game as a position.}

28.) 03 Aug 2023 17:25:19
That’s another point actually, I didn’t rate Ake before last season because I thought he was too error prone, he seems to have cut that out of his game.

I didn’t rate John Stones a couple of years back for the same reason. I wonder what it is they do to cut these issues out because Konate could be one of the best defenders in the world if we did the same with him.

Bob Paisley said “it’s a simple game, we make it as uncomplicated for the boys as we can”. When Joe Fagan asked by Graeme Souness “how do you want me to play boss? ” He replied “Eff off, we have paid all this money for you and you’re asking me how to play football? ” And walked away.

We have gone from being mentality monsters who played the game simply, won the ball back and strangled the opposition to this unrecognisable beast of complexity with a soft underbelly that is ripe for the kill.

Klopp needs to go back to basics and fast. Or it is another season wasted but this time it is on him. No excuses, no hiding places.

Fair enough 25 let's hope the blues don't get the same level of officiating this weekend then as I'm pretty sure you'd be pulling your hair out, if you have any left after watching Everton the last few years.

But will stand by opinion which I feel is even more amplified after the audio release and that is Stevie wonder could see that the game was rigged in spurs favour.

{Ed025's Note - what happened at spurs was an absolute disgrace mate, and why they are all not signing on the dole this week is amazing..

What's that got to do with the price of milk ed 25? Because some brain dead hooligans have done that we aren't allowed an opinion or to speak up against wrongdoings. this isn't a Liverpool issue this is a English football issue, the difference being Scousers won't hold back or bend over.

{Ed025's Note - i was just trying to explain why the comment was made mate in case you were not aware of it..

Behave ed acting like a Tory communist want us to all stay in our boxes and not have an opinion, don't recall anyone on here sending racist abuse?

{Ed025's Note - there are racial abuse claims being made by spurs and being investigated over an incident at the game on saturday TopG..

I'm already out Davey. Might watch the Europa but probably not won't be watching the league or motd again. Already tell out of love with the game now I couldn't care less, would rather go watch Bootle or a local team.
