Man I hate the media in this country.

VVD says he doesn’t know what will happen after Klopp as it depends what the club does and which direction they want to go and they report it as he wants to leave!

To the point where Klopp has to tell people to calm down and VVD has to confirm he’s committed to the club.

I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that the media twist people’s words to form false headlines or the fact that people actually believe them.

Beckers pecker

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you are referring to but his agent has said there have been a couple of general enquiries this week.}

1.) 31 Jan 2024 10:35:33
Only natural some clubs may want to capitalise on the uncertainty - we have done it on the past. Big difference receiving enquiries and courting them. The other side of this may be that the new manager no wants Virgil and they may seek to move him on (although I would hope that was unlikely) .

2.) 31 Jan 2024 13:02:14
Bloke knows he's going to be negotiating a new contract soon. Was never going to say"being here is a dream come true and i want to stay here forever and ever and ever"now was he? a nothing story.

3.) 31 Jan 2024 13:37:28
Agree with Jude Nkunku. He really doesn't have any idea what's going to happen. It's a long time until his contract is up. Anything can happen.

No issue with the comments.

4.) 31 Jan 2024 15:18:14
Wouldnt worry about clubs approaching the agent- Id be shocked if there wasnt. Even coming up to 33, he would be an immense addition to any side still. All about how he feels and he seems committed.

5.) 31 Jan 2024 17:42:34
I personally think at least one big name leaves in the summer. This doesn't include the players that will not have their contract renewed.

6.) 31 Jan 2024 18:46:36
If the Edwards approach is true. That says to me we’re panicking a little about life after Klopp.
It’s only natural our best players will be wary of all this and want reassurances we plan to stay successful.

7.) 31 Jan 2024 18:52:07
Too many people worrying about the future ! Embrace the rest of the season, klopp has earned our support not our questions.

8.) 31 Jan 2024 21:53:27
lol, does anyone believe that we don't plan to be successful? lol what kind of statement is that?

We're worrying a bit too much about things we can't control and then making factual statements about things that we don't really know about lol.

9.) 01 Feb 2024 09:35:27
Ally McCoist summed it up perfectly last night when his co-commentator tried to make a big deal out of VVDs comments. He hit back immediately saying that Virg is just saying that a new manager will have his own players and he doesn't know what the new manager and the club will want to do. At no point had he said that he wanted to leave and it was just the media twisting his words.

Obviously I'm paraphrasing but it was nice to hear an 'expert' finally talking some sense rather than trying to make drama.

I see the same old posters are back now we’ve lost a game.

Don’t hear a peep from them for weeks then when we lose it’s like all of their negative criticism is vindicated.

See, I told you Klopp’s subs were rubbish! Completely ignoring the fact that our subs have been involved in more goals than anyone else’s this season.

Or see, I told you Klopp has lost it. Completely ignoring the fact that he’s got us in a title race, already won a trophy and to the quarter final of 2 others.

Honestly, how arrogant and entitled do you have to be to expect a team you ‘support’ to win every single game? Then when they don’t you want to criticise everyone involved and say how poor they’ve been all along ignoring all of the great things they’ve been doing all season.

It’s football, sometimes you lose if you can’t handle that then watch something else.

A quadruple has never been done because it’s incredibly hard to do. Almost impossible to do in fact. We are amazingly lucky that we support a team that even talks about it.

I’m sick of fans that just want to be critical and pray for the day we lose so they can somehow confirm their criticism was justified.

1.) 18 Mar 2024 02:26:00
Beckers. Maybe as I don’t pay attention to when others post but I’m here win lose or draw. So if you’re aiming that at me, you may need to get your facts straight before typing.

I’ll just speak for myself here and not the others you seem to be addressing. All I want is to be the best team and win everything like any other fan. So let’s quit the holier than thou fan stuff. Because one things for sure. You ain’t above me in terms of supporting this club. Same way I ain’t above you.

I want Klopp to get the send off he deserves. I have stated that from when the quadruple was a reality, all the way through that period and still maintain that (now treble) until the end of the season. But this not allowed to criticise Klopp thing some have I will simply not abide by. Simple as that!

2.) 18 Mar 2024 02:40:30
Very well said mate, a loss today wasn't what any of us wanted but it happens. We move on, we're very lucky overall to be in the position we are in. I for one am very grateful for the position the club has put us in, long may it continue and we must enjoy it while it lasts because although I see us doing very well for many years to come, nothing lasts forever.

The doom and gloom merchants need to wake up and see exactly what is going on at the moment. One loss vs a rival, I think most aren't even bothered about the FA cup, they're more fussed that we lost to Utd. We move on, these things happen. Fair play to them, they won it and we didn't, it is what it is, we can't change it we learn from it. Plenty more to play for.

Just enjoy the rest of the season, Klopps last. We're doing incredibly well and nobody would've imagined us to do this well this season, we're already exceeding expectations. Enjoy the moment and look forward to the next few months because it's going to be one hell of a ride.

3.) 18 Mar 2024 02:41:32
It was a proper cup game that we didn’t manage very well
Could be tired bodies out there but we surely had enough quality and chances to win it, thereby the frustrations

But I agree there is no need for over the top criticism l.
The very Nunez and Elliot that made the mistakes that arguably cost us the game were also the ones who made the chances or scored to keep us in it

The subs that were made did blunt us but I’m unsure if we did be any happier if Salah and Szoboslai stayed on and got injured

We just need to get things right and win at OT in the PL

Somehow how they have been crap but we haven’t beaten them this season! Feels abit like role reversal where we were not winning anything but always showed up to nick pts off utd to affect their title races in the 2000s.

4.) 18 Mar 2024 03:17:24
I’ve not seen anyone slate the team to any unjustifiable extent.
The subs killed us. That’s about all we can say.

5.) 18 Mar 2024 07:11:12
Take your point Beckers. I think it’s just frustration cos we had our foot on their throat and let them escape. And it’s them.
As i said, fair play to Utd, they gambled and we weren’t clinical enough to take advantage. The day when Jota’s absence finally bit.
Fingers crossed we don’t pick up any more injuries and we take all that frustration out on Brighton at the end of the month.

6.) 18 Mar 2024 07:15:39
Said it before and I’ll say it again - forums like this are a hive of activity when we don’t win and then tumbleweed when we do win.

7.) 18 Mar 2024 07:30:52
Sgynwa
Your first sentence sums it up perfectly for me. We didn’t manage the game very well. It is what it is?‍♂️

Reminds me of the years when Liverpool were crap and hung onto the odd cup win to somehow stay relevant. That’s United today.

8.) 18 Mar 2024 07:40:29
Anyone thinking that losing such a tight game at a place like Old Trafford has wrecked our season or made Klopp a failure is simply following the wrong sport.
And if you're going to criticise Klopp and the players on here after yesterday and the immense effort they've put in this season then you can expect to be called out on it.
And rightly so.
If you can't handle it back, don't dish it out in the first place.

9.) 18 Mar 2024 08:45:42
There are things to be critical about yesterdays game. But something i keep reminding people about. How many first choice players were still unavailable? Jota, Trent, Konate, Jones, Alisson. I thinl all oif us, myself included, need to remember the terriblke injury list we've had, and still get to where we are. A full squad and maybe the quad was on, but its asking a hell of a lot without that number of players and the knock on effect on others who are playing more than they would. The premier league is the big one. UP THE REDS.

10.) 18 Mar 2024 08:49:44
As long as everyone learns from it then we can achieve great things. Win the next PL game is all that matters and is more important.

11.) 18 Mar 2024 10:16:21
It’s absolutely aimed at you Alonso and posters like Mango too.

You were all over these pages last season and at the start of this telling anyone who would listen about how poor Klopp’s substitutions are but then the unthinkable happened, his subs have made a real difference all season.

Did I see you posting about how wrong you were? You might have done but I certainly didn’t see it.

Then in one game when his subs didn’t work months later you pipe up saying you were right all along?

Klopp’s not perfect mate but then nor should he be. No human being is ever perfect but if you’re going to criticise it has to be based on actual real evidence. The evidence this season far outweighs your argument but you just couldn’t wait to feel relevant again could you?

Same with Mango. Last season he was full of how Klopp is finished but then we’re top of the league and chasing a quad so we don’t hear from him.

We lose one game and he’s back telling us how ‘limited’ Klopp is and how a new manager is needed. Again the evidence far outweighs his argument but a defeat makes him feel relevant again so he’s loving it.

But then you expect these players and the manager to run through brick walls and give you everything when you can’t even give them your support when things don’t go their way.

It’s shocking mate there’s no other word for it.

12.) 18 Mar 2024 11:16:25
steviep62 I wouldn't use the Injuries as an excuse, United had them yesterday. United were missing a few starters and backup options. as well as Hoijland and Bissaka first game back in a few weeks/ months. Liverpool were poor.

13.) 18 Mar 2024 14:02:23
Dio1989 I wasn’t using injuries as a excuse and not about yesterday. Other teams have had injuries of course they have. Utd have played 6 games less than us since Xmas we have had 7 first 11 players out together for weeks. I was talking about us, lfc fans and our expectations. Nothing to do with the Scum.

Football is a funny old game that moves at such a fast pace.

A few weeks ago if we’d have been going into a game away at Arsenal with 20 year old Connor Bradley having to deputise for Trent we would be in a spin and expecting the worst.

Now, with the sad news of Connor’s father passing away we are gutted about Trent having to deputise for Connor! lol.

In the words of Ferris Bueller, Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while you could miss it.

20 Jan 2024 22:28:27
Anyone who expected us to be any lower than 3rd hasn’t watched football for the last 8 years.

Last season was very much the same as the season after we won the league. Long term injuries in key areas and a hangover from the quadruple effort made us look worse than we really were.

I fully expected us to be City’s closest challengers this season, it was pretty obvious we’d be back to normal. You could see it at the end of last season after Jota and Diaz came back and we got a more settled midfield we went on a winning run.

Klopp’s systems are risky but effective. It enables him to compete with teams like City when financially he has no right to. The downside is that if you have injuries to key players you become vulnerable.

We were always coming back strong this season though.

1.) 20 Jan 2024 23:58:21
Opir squad has more depth than City.

2.) 21 Jan 2024 03:56:58
As an arsenal fan I agree, I had you as winners from before a ball was kicked.

3.) 21 Jan 2024 08:31:50
I would've been delighted with 3rd before started. We doing far better than I thought we would've at start of season to tell the truth.

4.) 21 Jan 2024 09:55:40
Really @SirWenger, you did? Nice one, man. Can you tell me what you saw in our team in the summer and at the start of the season that made you think that cos certainly a large majority of LFC fans definitely did not see this coming at this stage of the season? At least, I didn't see it. Cheers, man.

@BP, I hear all you are saying. For me, I keep taking it one game at a time and clearly that is how Klopp and the boys are taking it. After all, we cannot be in 4 comps. (the only English team in this position BUT the media will never tell you that) if that was not the case, IMO. We are in a healthy position and if for me CL was the goal so 3rd would have been great at the start, for sure. Things could still change and if we make it to March in this position (or better) in the table, the gloves should definitely come off, IMO. Wait and see.

5.) 21 Jan 2024 09:56:59
It’s very cliche almost barring on fence sitting but before we kicked off I thought top 4 minimum with a good cup run possible a trophy and maybe next year with a more settled squad would be the title charge and back in the champions league .

As I look back at our season I think we’ve had games we look very good in (villa at home and Newcastle come to mind) and we’ve had games were we could easily have dropped more points (palace and Luton) but on a whole I think we’ve done enough to be sat at the top and hopefully the best football for this team is yet to come .

Tricky test today need 100% concentration my guess is a Liverpool favourite scoreline 3-1 with big virg getting in on the action ????.

6.) 21 Jan 2024 10:17:33
As a Liverpool fan, I’m surprised you didn’t tell us last July @BP. If you hadn’t kept it to yourself until the end of January but had let on back in July last year we could have all relaxed about the transfer window and what was going to happen this season. You’d certainly have saved poor old @Oh2b, for one, wasting all that angst and worry.

On a separate topic, you don’t happen to have the winning numbers for next week’s Lottery do you?

7.) 21 Jan 2024 11:55:29
I’ve only seen Walter on here say that he believes we wouldn't compete for top 4 this season but o don’t understand how that means he's not watched football for 8 years.

As far as we know he's at every Liverpool game home and away.

8.) 21 Jan 2024 12:26:55
@becker

Watch out mate you may be hung drawn and quartered for posting on here unless everyone 100% agrees with you .

Let’s all put our predictions in before the season so we can score them precious brownie points ?.

9.) 21 Jan 2024 13:02:28
Harry said we would finish midtable and he has never denied it whenever it was mentioned to him so there's that.

10.) 21 Jan 2024 13:37:13
"We'll lose to Bournemouth today, then the wheels will fall off and we'll finish mid table and be out of the cups".

11.) 21 Jan 2024 18:52:33
I did say it in July WDW. I always believed it because I could see what the issues last season were and knew we’d got the players back and were firing again.

It baffles me why people keep doubting this team and this manager in particular. If you can’t get behind this manager then you need to follow a different team or maybe even a different sport.

Klopp’s not perfect by any means but he’s the closest manager out there to it.

07 Jan 2024 22:24:45
I know it’s been said on here before but this rhetoric around Trent’s defending is as ridiculous as it is lazy.

We had Lineker picking out the 2 times Martinelli (an apparent elite winger) went past him and used that as proof that Trent is weak defensively.

They don’t do that for any other fullback in the league, only Trent.

I don’t know any defender in the world that doesn’t get beat by a winger sometimes. It’s just so lazy from the media to keep pushing this agenda.

They completely ignore any of his good defensive work, of which there was plenty today. It just winds me right up.

Beckers pecker

1.) 07 Jan 2024 22:43:36
Today the commentary from the bbc was shocking, Shearer i could of sworn he was an arsenal fan definitely has it in for us.

2.) 07 Jan 2024 23:10:41
‘Arsenal should be 4 or 5 up’ Alan Shearer
When they had only 5 shots on target and Alisson hardly troubled from what I recall.

3.) 08 Jan 2024 00:36:53
I said that on another thread sgynwa it was the most one sided commentary I’ve ever heard.

The possession was fairly even and they had 5 on target to our 3 but apparently it should’ve been 4 or 5-0 by half time.

They started fast and could/ should’ve scored from a straight ball from the keeper and then could/ should’ve scored when they dispossessed Gomez. Other than that it was half chances.

We also hit the bar in the first half but that is conveniently forgotten.

I think Shearer is still sore that we handed Newcastle’s @rses to them last week. The disappointment in his voice when we scored and he actually had to give us some credit through gritted teeth!

4.) 08 Jan 2024 07:12:53
I'd love to know why the commentators seem to be so biased against us lately. I know they always have been anti-LFC, but it just seems so deliberate lately.

5.) 08 Jan 2024 07:19:54
Commentary was ridiculous. Shearer should be no where near the commentary box. It was obvious he was still bitter from the spanking we gave Newcastle.

The second time trent got beat by martinelli, you could see just prior to that, trent was clearly limping and shaking off a knock.

6.) 08 Jan 2024 07:35:53
Martinelli Came on as a sub with fresh legs and has very good pace so obviously Trent will struggle against him.

7.) 08 Jan 2024 07:43:53
I love Trent as a player, but I can also objectively assess his defending. It's a pretty poor standard for a top prem side. He steps in and tries to nick the ball and gets beaten often this way. He rarely jockies and goes with the player, steering him where he wants him. Just look at when he stepped up to Gordon in the Newcastle game, awful decision and judgement.
Sorry, like I said, love the player from a passing and attacking point of view, also his scouse swagger, just giving my honest opinion which I hope is fair.

8.) 08 Jan 2024 09:04:56
Then Bradley came on and shut Martenelli down wuth Trent moving into midfield and we looked even better.

9.) 08 Jan 2024 09:53:59
@BP, I don't care for that stuff anymore cos it is as disingenuous a rhetoric as you will ever find so anyone saying Trent "can't defend" is not to be listened to.

Indeed as someone said, Trent was a bit gassed and Martinelli has fresh legs so of course Trent would struggle. Notice when Bradley (fresh legs) came on, Martinelli didn't get a sniff. I guess if Trent had come on, he would have shut Martinelli down as well. Rubbish rhetoric.

27 Dec 2023 21:42:28
So once again I’d like to thank the refs for confirming, when it comes to handball in the penalty box the proximity rule only applies unless it’s Man City.

If you’re playing Man City it doesn’t matter how close you are when the ball is smashed at your hand. They get the penalty.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Beckers pecker

1.) 27 Dec 2023 21:52:45
Appalling decision. City only get those ones. Wonder how much cash they paid for it.

2.) 27 Dec 2023 21:57:54
Can’t stand anything about City horrible team, horrible players horrible manager.

3.) 27 Dec 2023 22:12:19
It’s sickening when you look at the pens we don’t get compared to the ones they do.

That being said Pickford has let Everton down tonight. Woefully out of position for the first, should’ve saved the pen and the third goal was comedy Pickford at its finest.

4.) 27 Dec 2023 22:28:42
City leave me cold. Horrible, soulless, plastic club - the footballing equivalent of fake tan.

5.) 27 Dec 2023 22:30:55
Shocker! VAR couldn't find a basis to penalise a blatant City handball against Everton couple of years ago, but today, right in your face, that was given as a handball! What happened last week when Odegaard impersonated LeBron James?
Thank you, PGMOL!

6.) 27 Dec 2023 22:53:52
Calm down lads, refs need pocket change too, cost of living crisis and all that.

7.) 27 Dec 2023 23:18:32
Not sure how the cost of living crisis affects Paul Tierney, he only spends his money on pot noodles, Tescos value lager, Kleenex and one handed reading material.

8.) 27 Dec 2023 23:30:04
Chill everyone
I’m sure a reasonable explanation is in store

Perhaps the movement of the hand was in the ‘wrong’ direction, the distance between hand and body was ‘too far away’, the hands were not in a ‘natural’ position or maybe the brown envelops were slipped into the ‘right’ pockets

Choose any of the above and live on until the next incident when a new rule will be invented again.

9.) 28 Dec 2023 00:24:09
The powers-that-be are going to need to be a little more subtle about helping City win the title again. These kinds of decisions are making the underlying plan a bit too obvious.

10.) 28 Dec 2023 00:38:48
They pick and choose who gets what decisions, that’s what VAR has brought.

11.) 28 Dec 2023 01:03:17
Even as a kid I had respect for Fergie's Man United, almost jealousy of Wengers Arsenal, Jose's Chelsea were a ruthless winning machine. Ranieri's Foxes became so many peoples second team, even Mancini's City were a hell of a group. But this Guardiola City side are so hollow and empty.

I get that sportswashing is killing football and City with PSG are the forefront of it, which unfortunately has made the Premier League become the French League, this season Liverpool and Arsenal are playing for second place.

Don't get me wrong City have bought some fantastic players and have a top manager, but the help from the refs is getting too much. I've always put it down to sheer incompetence, but the past two seasons are starting to show there are shenanigans going on.

12.) 28 Dec 2023 01:11:26
@VV who knew that Paul Tierney had such a sophisticated pallet, I thought he settled for the blood of young virgins.

13.) 28 Dec 2023 08:48:49
IMO, It is the lack of consistency that is the problem here and the PGMOL does not help itself at all cos they are too busy trying to shift the goalposts in a bid to protect it's refs whenever they make mistakes regardless of the situation.

For me, both the Onana and Odegaard penalties are actually penalties under the rules in each situation. The problem is that whenever they screw up like the Odegaard one, they will create an interpretation within the law to explain the absurd. However the next week in the same situation, a pen will be given and when people complain about as to why one was not given for the same situation or slightly different one, they will then create another interpretation within that law to protect the ref again with their allies in the media giving them cover. Rinse, Repeat.

That is why people don't know what the handball rule is cos they keep changing on a weekly basis to survive the weekend, IMO.

14.) 28 Dec 2023 11:47:16
I still it down to utter incompetence. Especially those operating VAR and the complete lack of understanding in the game.
Unfortunately, each decision is mildly different from another and therefore too many variables come in to play.
What it has made me do though is to accept the ref's decision more often. They've got a hard job keeping up with play and seeing things in real time. Don't get me wrong, some of their decisions are still wrong, I just have learned to accept it. Football in the lower leagues is so much more fun (ie the EFL) without VAR and players/ fans just get on with it without anywhere near as much moaning after games.

15.) 28 Dec 2023 16:14:24
How can a lines man be called an assistant ref when they only give throw ins and corners and off sides ( then that goes to var) How many time has a lines man been right next to a foul and not put up his flag to indicate the foul. When I played the lines men that's what they were called (no sexual equality rules then ) they were part of making decisions on the game and it made the game easy for all involved now var does that so why do we need lines men. I feel it is like watching play station football not the game i grew up with and loved .

16.) 28 Dec 2023 18:48:34
Ref pointed for a corner and then was told by the linesman that it was a penalty, Coote in VAR with the quickest VAR check in history! No checking the screen for the ref which I thought was protocol for handballs but hey we can’t have City dropping points! If that’s a handball then you have to question some of the ones not given.

17.) 28 Dec 2023 17:13:58
Tell me that there is corruption in football without telling me that there is corruption in football!

18.) 28 Dec 2023 18:00:09
100% agree Oli, both were penalties and you would be fuming if your team wasn’t awarded either! You’ve nailed it with regard to PGMOL and there bull brigade trying to convince fans black is white when they make a gaff and so nobody knows what way the rules are going to be interpreted. Everyone keeps coming out with the rules are the problem for everything and the refs hands are tied but it’s clearly the application of VAR which is the problem and not VAR itself! Let’s not forget that VAR was brought in from the start to help refs make better decisions because they were making howlers and sending off wrong players etc…why anyone is surprised that having the same clowns operating VaR is no better is beyond me!

Ron you are a buffoon for even asking the question and for the thinly veiled dig that was contained in it.

Nunez has pace, power, aggression, he’s good in the air, can go past people, scores goals, creates goals, occupies defenders, creates space for others, bullies defenders.

Is that enough for you?

Rather than looking at what he hasn’t done why not try looking at what he has done and form an opinion about what kind of player he can become from that? The 2 goals against Newcastle, the goal against Sheff Utd, the goal against Bournemouth, the goals against Prague, the goal against Forest. All absolutely brilliant finishes that shows you that if he could just calm down in front of goal he would be some player.

That’s without mentioning the countless opportunities he creates for himself and others with his endless running and never say die attitude.

He’s missed a few chances recently but then so has everyone else. The whole team looks tense in front of goal but you choose to pick on him?

As for fans having an impact on players and driving them out it happens all the time. Why should he give his all for us when every time he looks on social media even his own fans are saying he doesn’t have any strengths?

I honestly believe there’s a 30 goal a season striker there, we just need to allow him to iron out his game and get used to the pressure of being at a top club. If we sell him now he’ll just smash it up for someone else and we’ll end up looking a bit silly.

Nunez has missed some chances but when he doesn’t play we don’t create even half the chances we do when he’s in the team.

He’ll come good if the buffoons like Ron don’t drive him out.

I happen to know for a fact that Liverpool is Ange’s ultimate goal so he would jump at the chance.

I hope we don’t go for him though he still has a lot to prove for me.

That argument doesn’t stack up Wallace. He’d be taking over an ageing Bayern team in need of overhaul and under pressure to win the league every season and go deep in the champions league too.

At Liverpool he’s taking over a young, talented squad that might need some tweaks here and there and will be given time because he’s following Klopp so he won’t be expected to win everything straight away.

The German media have twisted it to suggest he’d be under more pressure at Liverpool but the opposite is true.

I just can’t see Alonso going to Bayern. That would just be too much of a spit in Leverkusen’s face in my opinion.

I’m not saying he should choose Liverpool instead but to win the league with Leverkusen and then ditch them for Bayern would destroy any legacy he has at Leverkusen and I just can’t see him doing that.

There’s 2 things I’ve noticed since the Man Utd game in particular.

Firstly we are scared to give the ball away so always play safe to the point where the forward players have stopped making runs because they know they won’t get the ball.

Secondly we are not winning the ball back quickly enough when we lose it.

We have been playing with fear and that has made us very twitchy on the ball and very passive off it. The defence drop too early which makes us way too open to press effectively and even when we do we are so passive that we lose pretty much every tackle.

Added to that we are so tense and fearful that we miss pretty much every chance we do create. People will point to Nunez and Salah and rightly so but it’s everyone. Robbo actually missed the ball completely when presented with a chance, Szob used to have a rocket on his right boot but scuffs every shot now, VVD has had numerous free headers and either misses the target or heads it to the keeper, Diaz, Jones, MacAllister they have all forgotten how to hit a clean strike. Trent tried to reach the kop end goal from Goodison with a couple of his efforts last night.

The criticism they are all getting is warranted, the performances have not been good enough but writing these players off as not good enough is extremely knee jerk and shows a total lack of understanding of human and sports psychology.

It’s not that they are not good enough, they have just realised the enormity of what they could achieve and they’ve frozen with the fear of failure. It happens every day in every sport and these players will be stronger for having these type of experiences.

I’m disappointed just like everyone else but I appreciate what Klopp and the players have put in this season to give us a trophy and a title challenge. It’s all gone a bit wrong but we dust ourselves down and we go again.

I wouldn’t say you wanted it more Ed I just think we are playing nervously at the minute and goals change games.

If Nunez and/ or Diaz score their chances we gain confidence and it’s a different game. As it was we started to think ‘oh no not again’ and that made us even more tense and nervous.

We are nervous on the ball, nervous in the tackle and nervous in front of goal. Nobody wants to take responsibility so they pass it slowly sideways and backwards to keep possession then when we lose it we don’t win it back quickly enough and when we create chances we snatch at them.

Then the second goal just killed any confidence we had left.

I feared for this game because lately we’ve been very nervous and passive which you just can’t be in a derby. Atalanta bullied us and a thought Everton could do the same. As it happened you did to a point but every time we gave you something back the ref gave you a free kick. I could see why Klopp was livid in the first half the ref was a joke.

That said we basically handed you the first goal on a plate and didn’t take some really good chances we had so we deserved nothing from the game. We played right into your hands which is concerning when every man and his dog knows how Dyche plays football. We did nothing to stop it, so we got exactly what we deserved.

{Ed025's Note - you were nervous BP but the reason we got more free kicks is that we were quicker to the ball mate, for me you played the wrong team and dont get me started on the substitutions, i think Jurgen may have lost the plot, not only with the constant moaning but there seems a lack of motivation and belief, that last night did not look like a side that is challenging for the title to me..

Is there such a thing as an inverted wingback Mizer? A wingback is a mix of a fullback and a winger. If he’s inverted then he’s missing the ‘wing’ part of the wingback persona.

Maybe a midback or an invertback or a fullfielder might be a more apt name?

Hit a nerve JK?

I think you’ll find that I did say he will get caught offside anyway because he likes to run in behind. Any player that plays on the shoulder of the last defender is bound to be caught offside more than a player who comes deep. It’s logical.

We do pass the ball slowly, anyone with any sense can see that. That doesn’t mean and nor did I suggest that it’s the passers fault every time.

Why can’t it just be a bit of both rather than just hammering the lad every time he gets caught offside? In the instance you mentioned there was a straight pass on to Nunez so he makes the run but the ball is played to Salah first who then plays it first time but by this time he’s run offside. I was just correcting your obvious misjudgement of the situation.

He’s not perfect by any stretch but there are way too many fans these days that choose to focus on any negative aspect of a player rather than looking at his positive attributes. It’s the world we live in unfortunately.

I think you’ll find JK that Nunez had made the run to take the pass before the ball went to Salah. The fact that the ball went via Salah and not directly through to Nunez meant he’d run offside.

I think in general we’ve started to take too many touches as if no one wants to take risks with the ball. It normally means that everything closes up in front of the player with the ball and he has to go sideways or backwards to keep possession.

If we started popping it around at pace then Nunez wouldn’t be offside half as much. He’ll always get caught offside occasionally because he likes to run in behind but we need to be much quicker in all aspects of our play to get the best out of him.
