Bayer Leverkusen have rejected Liverpool’s latest offer.
Liverpool are trying to bring the total package down to €135 million, while Bayer continue to hold out for their desired fee of €150 million. It remains unclear whether the gap to Liverpool’s current offer will be made up through a fixed fee or easily achievable bonuses.
Despite this, Bayer do not currently believe the Wirtz deal is at risk.
Liverpool has already received approval from the club’s owners for a €150 million deal for Wirtz.
Including a player as part of the deal is currently not on the table in negotiations.
Copied and pasted.

That was first posted yesterday, mate. Probably Newsnow recycling it as there’s no further updates!

Cheers, Zed.

Hate when people speak in the third person, just tell us your staying and getting it over with!
2.) 09 Apr 2025 17:55:36
Joyce reporting it aswell.
3.) 09 Apr 2025 18:09:20
Seems legit. I think a 2 year extension for him and the captain eases the pain this summer and allows us to improve the squad this summer and plan for their replacements properly - realistically to replace both in one window is very difficult financially.
Hopefully we aren't about to hamstring ourselves for incomings by committing to too high salaries for him and VVD.
I posted a few months back that I thought one of the three would go to allow the club to afford to resign the other two.
I feel this is what happened with Mane and Salah a few years ago where by letting Mane go we were able to offer Mo the big extension he got.
I think letting Trent go frees up a decent amount of wages that we can use elsewhere and gives us more wriggle room.
No insider knowledge here - just my feeling on how’s it’s played out.
{Ed001's Note - Mane went because he threw a strop and demanded a move.}
4.) 09 Apr 2025 18:25:35
What do you mean"letting"Trent go. don't think the club has had any say in his imminent departure.
5.) 09 Apr 2025 18:26:57
Mane was goosed. Went from one of the best 5 players in the world to bang average in no time bar a little stint as the striker. Bayern found out quick enough and got rid. I always remember someone saying he looked like he was playing with boots 3 sizes too big towards the end it was bang on.
6.) 09 Apr 2025 19:40:36
Great news Salah! Let's hope it's done.
7.) 09 Apr 2025 19:18:05
Hi Ed01 mate - I thought the strop was linked to Salah being preferred and him wanting similar wages?
Either way, my point was more that by Mane leaving it freed up funds for us to pay Salah more not that we let him go intentionally to re-sign Salah.
Just the way I saw it at the time anyway.
@Floriant - ok, fine semantics - not “letting him go” but him leaving. It does mean we have a reduced wage bill by not tying him to a new £150-£200k deal which can be spent on other players.
{Ed001's Note - he had been trying to get out for a while.}

Liverpool players NOT CALLED UP for Girona game tomorrow night.
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Salah, Gomez, Jota and Jones.
Copied from Romano.
Great to see these lot having a rest ready for the Bournemouth game, get in!
1.) 28 Jan 2025 18:24:23
What about the PSV game?
2.) 28 Jan 2025 18:29:28
That would be very interesting if true. A supposed 11 then of:
Kelleher
Bradley, Quansah, Endo, Tsimikas.
Morton, Elliot, Nyoni.
Chiesa, Gakpo, Nunez
Danns
I'd hope that team would win tbh.
Also I think you meant PSV unless I'm going mad. again.
3.) 28 Jan 2025 18:32:58
Salah thanks have we arranged a friendly with Girona at the same time as we play PSV.
4.) 28 Jan 2025 18:34:49
Kelleher, Bradley, Endo, Quansah, Tsimi, Morton, Mcconnell, Elliot, Chiesa, Nunez, Gakpo is the lienup perhaps.
5.) 28 Jan 2025 18:45:30
It’s a no brainer. No point risking injury or tiredness ahead of a crucial PL game on Saturday. It’s a dead rubber anyway.
6.) 28 Jan 2025 18:57:29
Some people wow!
7.) 28 Jan 2025 19:20:33
Those players must be playing PSV while the second group. play Girona, money must be tight if we are playing exhibition matches during the season now.
8.) 28 Jan 2025 20:01:25
Hello MO, you're looking at too many noughts at the end of the contract ye won't sign, or been on the "GIN"ona!
Arne may play a full strength team (oh no! ) tomorrow at PSV, the reason is this is his most bitter, bitter dutch rival in charge of PSV Peter Bosz, will Arne want to lose face and prestige for the first time he will take his LFC side to his most bitter and hated rival.
Last season Arne managing Feyernoord finished second to PSV and Bosz by seven points, will he want to finish second to him again tomorrow with a far better side LFC than Feyernoord last year.
The incentives for Arne for revenge are massive, we need one point to finish top spot ahead of Barcelona and the "extra revenue" (thank you JK23)
PSV needs victory to secure their place in the last 16.
PSV if the winners tomorrow night will also avoid the extra knockout round next month.
Although I don't want Arne to play his full strength team. However his "honour" and "reputation" is at stake tomorrow and all his Feyenoord backroom staff who came with him also, Arne will come out with all guns blazing.
9.) 28 Jan 2025 20:02:32
Nallo at CB and Endo in MF please.
This is the only way to preserve energy for the run in, lest we not make the same mistakes as the 2 nearly quad seasons.
10.) 28 Jan 2025 20:30:08
He's practically left our starting 11 home.
11.) 28 Jan 2025 20:31:24
Sorry guys. Obviously meant to say bruges. My bad.
12.) 28 Jan 2025 20:54:06
I love the fact that @westeood corrected the op whilst naming 12 players in his starting 11! ?.
13.) 28 Jan 2025 21:31:43
Romano - HAHAHAHA - i wet myself a bit!
14.) 29 Jan 2025 03:14:43
Lol ? I was in a rush posting and didn't even realise myself that he'd said Girona!
15.) 29 Jan 2025 04:52:45
I posted? He did say?
Salah, here comes your multiple identities
Unless I’m not comprehending something?
16.) 29 Jan 2025 07:51:30
sgynwa, I think Salah copied and pasted the post from Romano's social media account. So he posted it word for word, and therefore copied over Romano's mistake.
17.) 28 Jan 2025 18:23:41
PSV. But still, it’s great news if you ask me.

PSG chairman Al Khelaifi on Mo Salah links: “It’s NOT true, we are not in talks”.
“He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered Salah to be honest”.
“We know every club would love to have him, but this rumor about us is simply not true”.
1.) 04 Dec 2024 19:12:08
So that’s a yes then ?. You always know when people in football are lying, their lips move.

A new red rises - Jota joins the Liverpool legends.
The heavens were unusually bright that morning, like Anfield on a European night - that soft golden glow just before kickoff.
Bill Shankly stood at the gates, arms behind his back, waiting patiently. Bob Paisley beside him, quiet as ever but with that proud glint in his eye. The whisper had already travelled across the sky:
“Diogo Jota is coming. ”
And he wasn’t coming alone - his brother was by his side, hand in hand, just as they’d always been.
As the gates swung open, Jota stepped through a little dazed, still carrying the energy of a life lived too quickly, too fiercely, too beautifully. But he was met not with sadness, not here. He was met with smiles.
“Son, ” said Shankly, grinning, “You’ve earned your place here. ”
Bob handed him a folded red shirt - no crests, no sponsors. Just the colour. Eternal. Sacred.
“Once a Red” said Paisley.
“Always a Red, ” Jota finished, placing his hand on his heart.
The team was waiting. Emlyn Hughes jogged over, ball under arm, laughing as always. Tommy Smith clapped him on the back. Ian St John gave him a wink. Ronnie Moran, Phil Taylor, and Joe Fagan sat by the touchline, nodding proudly. Even little Michael Robinson tossed him the ball with a cheeky grin.
“Ready to lace up, lad? ” Emlyn asked.
Jota looked at his brother, who was already settling into the best seat in the heavenly Kop, surrounded by angels and Reds who’d gone before.
He smiled. “Aye. Let’s play. ”
And so the whistle blew in a sky no eye can see, and a new kind of match began - one not measured in goals, but in joy, in love, in legacy.
Back on Earth, hearts broke but heads lifted.
Because somewhere up there, the Liverpool family grew stronger. Another player joined the squad. Another brother stood proud in the stands.
Diogo Jota - forever a Red.
1.) 04 Jul 2025 03:59:03
Salah that’s special mate, made me a little bit sadder but that is special your a good red.
{Ed078's Note - Geez Salah, just when I thought I couldn't be more moved by the events of the past 24 hours, you go and kick me in the feels.
2.) 04 Jul 2025 07:16:40
Just amazing ❤️.
3.) 04 Jul 2025 07:39:01
That's wonderful piece salah, actually helps to think the lfc family in the skies above will be with him now that the rest of us here can't.
4.) 04 Jul 2025 08:02:56
That’s quality Salah
RIP Lad
YNWA, he’s up there with the poor 97 souls and Liverpool players lost along the way.
5.) 04 Jul 2025 08:10:20
How you could even come up with such a beautiful passage is beyond my mind Salah. I ve been struggling to make sense of this whole thing, and something like this just breathes a little hope back in.
That was special.
You truly are the greatest poster on this site. Thanks for this post. I needed it.
6.) 04 Jul 2025 08:52:31
I wasnt planning on crying today ?.
7.) 04 Jul 2025 09:02:26
Gave me the shivers, Salah.
Sleep tight Diogo.
You won't be forgotten.
8.) 04 Jul 2025 08:49:40
Wow. Just wow. That was incredible salah. That has helped me so much today. Just beautiful. Maybe the eds could pin it to the top of the site. I think it's something everyone here could do with reading.
9.) 04 Jul 2025 12:41:44
Brilliance salah well said mate.
Still hasn’t sunk in. RIP Diogo and Andre.
10.) 04 Jul 2025 14:02:11
Good grief Salah, I was in bits yesterday and those words are getting me back there again! RIP Diogo and your brother Andrea, thoughts are with their families and friends.
11.) 04 Jul 2025 14:34:46
Thank you everyone!
12.) 04 Jul 2025 18:41:40
What an excellent piece Salah. It's emotional and I cried but I don't care. Sometimes you have to let it all out.
03 Jul 2025 11:14:19
Absolutely devastating news this morning about Jota and his brother. Far too young - no age at all. My heart goes out to their family, who must be going through unimaginable pain right now. Heartbreaking beyond words. Rest in peace, lads. Gone far too soon.
1.) 03 Jul 2025 11:16:19
Heartbreaking, so tragic for the family ? RIP.
26 Jun 2025 08:06:45
Kerkez to be announced before it gets dark today. How do I know? Because I dreamt it.
In the dream, Isak was signing too but let’s be real, I don’t think he’s signing today. Kerkez though? 100% locked in, dream-certified.
Isak’s joining on August 1st - he was wearing the new Adidas Liverpool kit in the dream, and dreams don’t lie. Except for the one where Slot's head was a bowling ball.
1.) 26 Jun 2025 08:54:56
Did you get a strike with Slot’s head, Salah?
Thanks for the info, I’m off to the bookies ?.
2.) 26 Jun 2025 09:43:37
@Salah, nice, and remember as Captain Sensible said,
“You’ve got to have a dream,
If you don’t have a dream,
How’re you going to make your dream come true”.
3.) 26 Jun 2025 10:55:52
Well done WDW, didn't think I'd ever see a song from South Pacific quoted on here. I can now tick that off my bingo card!
05 Jun 2025 16:08:15
We all suspect that Nunez will leave the club this summer, but does anyone actually have a clue where he might end up?
It feels like a lot of the talk is based more on wishful thinking than anything concrete. We’re not going to let him go for cheap - the club will want a decent fee. The issue is, who’s realistically going to pay for him? I honestly think we might be stuck with him. Hopefully, a deal can be done, but it’s hard to see which club would look at his time at Liverpool and be genuinely impressed enough to take the gamble.
1.) 05 Jun 2025 16:36:08
Salah, there will be clubs out there who will take more than a punt on Darwin, IMO. my thing is that it's not even about who will pay for him. it is more about who will pay what we would want for him cos I don't think cos we want him gone, we're just going to give him away for a bag of crisps. That's the more pressing issue, personally.
2.) 05 Jun 2025 16:40:09
We all suspect that Nunez will leave the club this summer, but does anyone actually have a clue where he might end up?
Salah my money is on not in an onside position mate.
3.) 05 Jun 2025 17:23:25
Row z.
{Ed025's Note - love it Baker..
4.) 05 Jun 2025 18:23:31
AWOL or MIA.
5.) 05 Jun 2025 19:26:12
For him, I hope he goes to Spain and shows everyone what a great striker he could be with a bit more time on the ball. However, I doubt the clubs he could go to there can afford him so it's likely to be Saudi. Especially as he almost went last season so they know a younger player is keen to go and it would be a great coup for the league.
6.) 05 Jun 2025 19:31:33
When he first emerged from his Mothers Womb, he was in an Offside position!
7.) 05 Jun 2025 21:47:31
Trust in Huggy Hughes, Salah.
He looks like an Atletico Madrid signing, to me.
01 Jun 2025 03:33:49
Luis Enrique called it, he said when Mbappe left that they'd be better off without him. Next thing you know they go and win the champions league! Well played to them, fully deserved- they've smashed it all the way through the tournament.
1.) 01 Jun 2025 04:45:17
Enrique is a really top manager. In a perfect world he's on my shortlist after Slot completes his Paisley 2.0 mission.
2.) 01 Jun 2025 05:09:59
They didn’t exactly smash it in the group stage, did they? But yeah, since then they’ve been relentless. Fun to watch and well deserved. We came the closest to knocking them out in the finals but next time, we’re going to win it.
3.) 01 Jun 2025 07:06:18
We smashed the league group stage and have walked away empty handed. They got through by the skin of their teeth and have been excellent ever since.
They were exceptional last night.
If we hadn’t have lost to PSV that night away then we would have avoided PSG and played Psv (again) or Benfica in the last 16.
In January when we were discussing the young Georgian lad I posted why go to PSG they are miles off winning the CL.
Just goes to show what I know.
4.) 01 Jun 2025 08:30:30
What a mismatch that was, once inter went behind the game looked pretty much over. Inter just can't cope with going behind and having to throw everything forward to try and get a result, especially against a team that specialises in attacking space that you leave in behind, they are a team that specialises in controlling space and nullification and psg made them look like amateurs time and time again.
5.) 01 Jun 2025 04:22:55
remember the meltdown from a load of posters on here? It's like our team had turned into a Championship team after getting knocked out on pens.
Turns out this PSG is rather good.
6.) 01 Jun 2025 08:47:17
Speaking of mismatches. Spurs vs PSG should be a hell of a game i predict 6 or 7 nil.
07 Jul 2025 17:14:57
He's playing guesswork mate, even Konate probably doesn't have a clue what he's going to do just yet.
06 Jul 2025 13:55:29
Let’s be honest - if everyone had been able to attend the funeral, they almost certainly would have. The circumstances were difficult; the service was arranged very soon after the passing, and not everyone can change plans at such short notice. It’s unfair to judge or make assumptions without knowing the full story behind why some people weren’t there.
05 Jul 2025 01:10:52
Thank you all, sincerely. I believe that sometimes the right words don’t come from us - they pass through us when they’re needed most. If this brought even a moment of light in the darkness, then it found its purpose.
30 Jun 2025 14:59:04
I agree, Vak. I want players at Liverpool who are genuinely committed to the club - not those focused on exit clauses and planning their next move. That’s not loyalty, it’s nonsense. If there’s truth to this, then we should sell him this summer.
24 Jun 2025 14:34:04
I think if we are to get rid we'd get a decent amount for him but I'm hoping he can be given a chance with us.
08 Jul 2025 10:47:17
Hahaha, good one mate! ??.
08 Jul 2025 09:59:09
Good point, Ed1. If signing Wirtz didn’t make a statement, then I’m not sure what will. To me, it confirms one thing - we’re prepared to go after anyone, as long as they genuinely want to be here. I still think we’ll make a serious push for Isak.
07 Jul 2025 16:06:27
Vicar, I don’t often find myself overwhelmed by the passing of someone, but that’s not because I’m indifferent - it’s more to do with prolonged exposure. When you’ve witnessed death regularly over the years, as I have, it changes the way you process it. It becomes something you learn to carry quietly rather than something that knocks you off your feet every time. Maybe you're the same?
That said, not everyone shares that experience. For many, death is rare, sudden, and deeply unsettling. And it makes perfect sense that they would react emotionally. There's no manual for grief - it manifests differently for each person. Some people are visiblyheartbroken, while others seem composed, but that doesn't mean one is grieving more or less than the other. It just means we're wired differently, shaped by our histories, our personalities, and our coping mechanisms.
I don’t believe this should even be a matter of judgment or debate. Who reacts, how they react, and whether they show it outwardly - none of it is a measure ofstrength or weakness. It's simply life unfolding in all its complexity. Some people have grown used to loss, others haven’t encountered it yet and neither path is right or wrong.
In moments like these, I think we would do well to show a little more understanding and a lot less assumption. There’s space for silence, for grief, for strength, and for detachment - all of it is valid.
07 Jul 2025 15:17:56
He deserves your ban hammer, Ed1. All the lights are on but nobody is home with this fella.
C*nt comes to mind.
Well said, Davey.
06 Jul 2025 11:57:05
Well said mate.
