Team: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Toure, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Lambert

Be interesting to see how Gerrard and Lucas are deployed. I'm assuming it'll be a diamond with Gerrard at the tip and Lucas at the base, but I'm worried that it'll be both of them as DMs which didn't exactly work against West Ham.

Solskjaer's just gone and got himself sacked before they play us, hasn't he?

1.) 06 Oct 2019 18:17:23
Great, we play them just in time for the ‘new manager bounce’!

2.) 06 Oct 2019 18:29:50
Please! I don't want him to be sacked. They should give him at least another five or ten seasons for him to rebuild.

3.) 06 Oct 2019 18:32:10
I've just looked at the table, and if we beat Manchester United and other results go certain ways (i. e. teams below them winning and Villa Vs Brighton a draw) . They could be bottom three.

I know that all of that coming off is unlikely, but it would be very very funny.

4.) 06 Oct 2019 18:53:50
Epic, I'm now convinced that Solskjaer will relegate them if given the full season. They've just lost to Newcastle who have a dearth of Premier League quality in their squad and are managed by statistically one of the worst managers in the history of the Premiership.

In terms of pure player quality, they have problems, but I'd still have them mid table. With how close the mid table is they could be 6th with the right management (btw, it gives me no end of pleasure to write that sentence) . But he has them playing like comatose sloths.

Don't see much chance of them beating us at Anfield regardless of who's in the dugout, they just haven't got the quality. But basically they're like Everton now. Can't win anything, so a result against us is all they really have to play for. If they had someone who could fire their players up in the dressing room and make them scrap for it, it could be fairly uncomfortable. Whereas if Solskjaer is still there, they'll still be strolling around in a disinterested daze and any urgency from us at all will result in a 3-0 win.

5.) 06 Oct 2019 19:09:48
Whoever is incharge, they aren't capable of giving us a good game, we'll do them I have no doubts about it. Leicester were the team of this month I was most concerned about. Solskjaer though, he's doing a grand job isn't he? I love it, I'm a top fan of his.

6.) 06 Oct 2019 19:17:26
That starting 11 is woeful. Mctominay is average at best but standing out in a awful midfield. Mata is past it, James is promising but can't be expected of too much, and Rashford seems shot of confidence. Defensively, two Yong players who don’t seem like they have big futures, Ashley young (enough said) and slabhead. De gea must be looking around the dressing room and thinking what am I doing here.

7.) 06 Oct 2019 19:22:33
Something Red. If he isn't sacked after that (and I'm fairly confident that he won't be) then what will it take? It doesn't look like he'll walk as he's so grateful to be in the job in the first place.

McGuire and Wan-Bissaka must be wondering what they've got themselves into (apart from a fatter wallet) . Leicester and Palace are both much better than this Manchester United side and the league table proves it.

I wonder what odds you'd get on Sheffield Utd, Newcastle, Southampton and Everton to all win their next game and leapfrog past them. Actually, now that I've said that, if I don't put a bet on it's bound to happen, haha.

8.) 06 Oct 2019 20:31:49
I agree Firmane. You forgot Fred, he is woeful. The English Real Madrid is in a tailspin right now. They'll be back though. It will take a few seasons, but it is so cyclical.

9.) 06 Oct 2019 20:37:18
Utd dug their own graves the day they gave OGS the job full time. OGS as well dug his own grave by accepting a job that was clearly too big for him. His former team mates in the punditry class did not help him either, using their platform to put pressure on Woodward to hire him full time. I don't even know if Woodward wanted OGS permanently cos he prolly was looking for a more high profile pick.

Now the dye is cast and Utd not only screwed up the managerial appointment, they screwed up their whole recruitment strategy by well, not having one. Will he get the sack? At this point, if they sack him then they lose the PR battle and a large section of the fans will turn on Woodward (a guy they hate by the way) . If they keep him, another section of the fan base will turn on Woodward for not doing anything to stop the bleeding. Lose-Lose situation, really.

10.) 06 Oct 2019 21:17:30
RedWolf. Stop giving them the credit by calling them "United". There's plenty of "Uniteds" around and they're no longer the best and no longer deserve to be called that. Sheffield, West Ham, Leeds, and of course Newcastle (who showed today that they were the better United) .

When you hear someone shout "United" now, assume that they're a West Ham fan.

11.) 06 Oct 2019 23:44:42
Good point, Potato. I watched West Ham vs Man U and it drove me mad that the commentator called the losing team ‘United’ all match when there were two Uniteds onthe pitch.

12.) 07 Oct 2019 07:39:37
Lads, we can’t take them for granted. Last season they had 10 players injured but we still couldn’t break them down. They will do everything they can do to stop us in two weeks.

I expect a tough game.

13.) 07 Oct 2019 11:50:20
we should beat manU, but 'should' never bags the 3 points lol
couple weeks for them to plot away etc, hope we return from the break fit and with some form.

14.) 07 Oct 2019 19:15:42
If we get 3 points at Old Trafford, we equal Chelsea's record of winning their first 9 games of the season in the Premier League. I can't think of a worse way to not complete that than not getting all 3 points against this Man United side.

Man U fans are so down right now. For them, it would be like winning the league to just get a point against us. They have really fallen that far.

15.) 07 Oct 2019 20:17:29
Yo Epic, slow down, man. I thought you were going to jump off your PC or phone keyboard and sort me out, lol.

Which is the better joke lads?

Manchester United or Everton?

1.) 22 Sep 2019 21:40:10
Utd all day.

2.) 22 Sep 2019 22:47:06
I take no pleasure seeing Everton struggle. Happy for them to finish second, as long as they finish below us. I guess I'm from an era where the crowd still mixed freely on Derby Day and half a family could be red, half blue, so I'd prefer the whole city to be happy with how their team are playing. Utd on the other hand, well, would happily see them relegated.

3.) 23 Sep 2019 06:26:40
burkeyboy - I'm not scouse but I'm with you totally! maybe its a bit about having merseyside strong as a bastion of football over the show ponies from manchester and london lol But ye, I'm ok with everton being strong as long as we are still putting them back in their place, just below us!

4.) 23 Sep 2019 08:09:15
Couldn't say it any better burkey and faith.

5.) 23 Sep 2019 07:52:36
Faith, I left Liverpool when I was 18 but it never leaves you. The city feel like a big family in a way and I wouldn't want to wish ill on any of them, Joey Barton excluded :) I'm a big Ed025 fan and would love to see him strutting his stuff in the city centre with Everton battering all teams but us and we've reminisced about the halcion days of Merseyside cup finals down at Wembley with red and blue shoulder to shoulder singing "Merseyside, Merseyside, Merseyside. "

{Ed025's Note - we certainly have burkey mate...halcyon days indeed, unfortunately we are a million miles from liverpools standard and it could be quite a while before those days are replicated my old mucker..

Liverpool Player Sightings page entitled, When you realise your cheating didn't work

Suarez did little more than audition for a role in the Royal Shakespeare Company. Seems that part of Barcas tactics were to get a Liverpool player sent off so Messi had another chance with a free kick. Chewy Luis was, of course, the main culprit. The image of Suarez with a face like a dropped pie has brightened my day immeasurably.

A Brazilian man was reported missing at Anfield tonight. He's described as being his mid-20s, 5'8' tall', dark hair, athletic build and was last seen walking onto the pitch in a yellow shirt at approximately 8pm tonight.

If you have any information, please contact Mr. and Mrs. Coutinho as they are very worried about their son.

1.) 08 May 2019 00:23:19
I was thinking, imagine if Coutinho never left . he would have had a great view of that comeback from the bench.

2.) 08 May 2019 00:28:00
On a serious note can someone explain to me what has happened to Coutinho? He used to impact games, demand the ball now you honestly forget he is on the pitch, such a shame how poor he has become.

{Ed0333's Note - he’s clearly not as good as we all thought he was

3.) 08 May 2019 00:46:01
5'8"? In Cuban heels?
Yellow is appropriate, though.

{Ed0333's Note - Cuban heels 🤣

4.) 08 May 2019 01:19:41
😂🤣😊🤣🤣🤣

Classic!

5.) 08 May 2019 12:18:25
When we lost couts, we became a better TEAM. Last night we lost Salah and became a better team.

What on earth possessed us to field Chirivella without making sure his paperwork was in order?

Did we not know about it or did we just not bother? Is Rick Parry back running our club's admin department or something?

@ Wolverine_Red: Average of 23 shots on target per match, all from outside the box and only 3 on target :D

That being said, whilst I've argued against spending massive money on another attacking player on the Discussion page, if I was in charge of Liverpool I'd ring Levy and ask him what he wants for Son in order to fund this excess.

Let's get that done and dusted and get out of there before they realise what we've done.

Can't imagine why someone would think a dig at a player would be too negative right after winning the Champions League, Walter.

I'm nearly certain we had this conversation about Salah this time last year. Iut of form, not fully recovered from injury, not playing for the team, head turned by Madrid etc. etc.

Turned out alright in the end.

Richard Keogh was a passenger in one of his team-mate's cars and picked up a knee injury in the "japery" and is out for the season.

I kinda wanted Egan to replace him at center half for Ireland, but not like that.

Hopefully :)
