It gets better: Milner signs a new deal.

1.) 13 Dec 2019 18:32:25
That's more good news.

2.) 13 Dec 2019 18:54:40
Perfect. Milner more than deserves it.

3.) 13 Dec 2019 19:00:31
What next today eh, even more good news coming out of the club!

4.) 13 Dec 2019 19:45:28
Kylian Mbappé to sign in January!

5.) 13 Dec 2019 19:52:42
Really pleased Milner has done that. He embodies everything Liverpool has become. One of our best.

6.) 14 Dec 2019 04:02:28
Does he get 10 ribenas as goal bonus now?

7.) 14 Dec 2019 10:02:47
Am I mistaken or he told he is not drinking anymore Ribena? 😅.

8.) 14 Dec 2019 10:36:46
This is excellent news very happy. Hopefully the younger talent can lean from a true professional of the game.

Team: Mignolet, Manquillo, Skrtel, Toure, Johnson, Lucas, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Sterling, Lambert

Be interesting to see how Gerrard and Lucas are deployed. I'm assuming it'll be a diamond with Gerrard at the tip and Lucas at the base, but I'm worried that it'll be both of them as DMs which didn't exactly work against West Ham.

Kenny's tested positive for the coronavirus. Reportedly asymptomatic at the moment. Hope it stays that way.

1.) 11 Apr 2020 09:12:38
Get well soon, King Kenny.

2.) 12 Apr 2020 10:56:25
Get well soon, Sir KK a. k. a. Legend.

08 Mar 2020 18:38:32
You know that Ederson v Alisson debate?

Alisson won.

1.) 08 Mar 2020 18:52:54
There was a debate? 🤔😉.

2.) 08 Mar 2020 21:26:06
Wait, what? there was a debate? I must have slept thru that one. Compared to AB1, Ederson is absolutely dreadful. "Oh, He's good with his feet and is able to dribble and find players with great passes".
Sorry if I want my GK to do Cruyff turns and stepovers, I would Play Adam Lallana in goal.

70 points and it's not even February.

1.) 29 Jan 2020 22:41:28
Yes . we are on for something special . my concern (as a Liverpool supporter I will always have concerns) if we happen to be champions in April, Klopp may start playing youths and reserves and start dropping points . Call me greedy but I would like us to go for a record points tally . it gives this team a sort of mortality that it deserves . You know in 10 years time I would like to hear the commentators talking about teams chasing Liverpool points record .

{Ed002's Note - I think there is little doubt about a record points total being achieved.}

2.) 29 Jan 2020 23:02:19
Do you really think so Ed002? What makes you do sure mate?

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I think so. No other club has excelled at all this year.}

3.) 29 Jan 2020 23:21:45
If we go for it, I believe we will, depends on if and when we wrap it up, that we keep playing, or are still fighting in the CL and maybe look to rest players.

4.) 29 Jan 2020 23:45:18
We need 10 wins and 1 draw from our remaining 14 to set a points record. Not guaranteed by any means, but at our current win rate in the Premier League of 95.8%, I think it's reasonable for Ed002 to think we'll achieve that.

I see only 2 ways we don't:

1) We get knocked out of the CL by Athletico and as a result the players mentally go on holiday in April. I doubt Klopp will let that happen though.

2) We rotate heavily in April / May to ensure freshness in the latter stages of the CL and to give game time to kids like Jones, Elliot and Williams. This is more likely than 1, but Klopp's actually not a heavy rotator. For the important games (CL and PL), he's always gone with his best available.

Even with the title effectively wrapped up, I can only see small number of changes in the PL games immediately prior to a CL game.

5.) 30 Jan 2020 00:06:04
I’d rather win a league and champions league double than set a points record. Records can be taken away, trophies can’t.

6.) 29 Jan 2020 23:09:17
It's an absolute joy to be a Liverpool fan right now. What a team. Every one of them. The ox was great. I love the way he bursts forward and when he's in the team, he creates space for the forwards just by being the ox. He can score from 20 yards as easily as most can from 10. This means defenders have to rush out to him. Thus creating space.

I don't think we'll drop that many points. Klopp may play the odd youngster but he will let the boys go on tour as champs. It'll be good to see which fans act with class and applaud this amazing team. Be cool if Everton did. Do you think it's likely ed025? Seriously.

{Ed025's Note - i think every supporter is in awe robbie mate..

7.) 30 Jan 2020 00:48:16
Good point thunderbird.

8.) 30 Jan 2020 01:10:36
I agree with you thunderbird id take european success and 99 points in the league over beating records but I can't see klopp rotating largely regardless, . Momentum is key and winning is a habit so I'm sure all our players will be hungry to set records if they're obtainable in the latter stage of the season regardless of how we're faring in europe.

9.) 30 Jan 2020 05:10:34
we are the creme of this year's crop. Almost exclusively over the last 2 decades there has been 2 and most times 1 team that is by far and away the best. I do submit that the challenge from those teams in 3-6th is well under the average of the last 10 years. But then again we are so far and away above the average for the 1st placed team. Anyways, we're not dropping it from here. Got to recognize elite when you see it and we are elite. Happy to have this post thrown back at me if we turn into our 2015 version and drop points left right and centre hahahahahahaha

But seriously, I hope we go undefeated and smash the points tally to rubber stamp our dominance and legacy as having the greatest PL season ever.

10.) 30 Jan 2020 05:11:48
p. s. we've secretly been performing at an elite level for just about 2 seasons now.

11.) 30 Jan 2020 05:49:37
Klopp is the ultimate pragmatist in my view.
If we’re still in the CL come late March, he will definitely rest players if the PL is all but tied up.
I think most Liverpool fans don’t give a damn about the invincible thing (it would be nice, don’t get me wrong) but that title is what we want. And if we can double it up with a seventh European Cup, that would be far more preferable than the invincible tag.

12.) 30 Jan 2020 07:06:51
Juicer - I think Klopp will demand his team go for it. Imo itd be amateur hour, like the stuff one season wonders to get to the point of winning the title then relaxing. Didn't know that's what champions clubs do.

13.) 30 Jan 2020 09:18:42
Sometimes resting players can have the opposite effect.

Barca didn't bring any of there first team to the game before the semi final last year and we had that tough game at newcastle and look how that turned out

sometimes its better to keep the rhythm and momentum going so some rotation will be expected but nothing too major!

14.) 30 Jan 2020 09:04:28
Thunderbird if we keep up current form and end up with 112 points there is no way anyone is ever taking that record away.
I’d love to do that and win the treble but for me doing things that have never been done before in 150 years of people playing football is astonishing and much more difficult that winning a trophy. You get chances to win trophies every season and every season someone does.
To win 37 out of 38 league games and draw the other is the stuff of fairytales and we will be immortalised for ever.
I get the sentiment but trust me if we get to 112 points (which is still a massive ask) it will mean more to everyone around the world than us winning a CL.

15.) 30 Jan 2020 10:29:22
In his post-match interview after the West Ham game, Klopp was asked about setting a PL points record. He replied “At Dortmund, we set a record but the very next season Bayern Munich beat that record. ” I think that suggests that titles and trophies are more important to Klopp (and therefore to his players) than records. I have no idea how he will go about securing those titles and trophies but I don’t think he will jeopardise, for example, winning the Champions League in order to set a Premier League points record.

Derry playing in the League of Ireland isn't so great when you factor in that they were forced out of the Northern Irish league in the 70s for what are best described as 'political reasons'.

There is a bit of a push starting in the Republic to have an All-Ireland league, but honestly I don't think the money works. Especially for clubs in the North who'd have much greater travel costs and based on results in Europe and the various attempts at an all-Ireland cup competition in the past few seasons, most of them wouldn't last in the top division with clubs from the Republic to compete with. Not sure it'd do the likes of Wexford and Galway any favours to be going up to Belfast and Ballymena a few times a season either. The IFA are wholly uninterested. Now if it was bundled as a product with a decent TV deal (from who I have no idea. I've seen Asian markets suggested, but they're hardly that bothered with semi-pros they've never heard of? ) that could fork out a decent wedge of prize money, it'd be different. Certainly the League of Ireland needs something anyway.

Hadn't thought about Ireland as part of a pan-British Isles league. Not sure how well it'd work. In terms of structure, facilities, finances etc. surely most Irish clubs are behind current League Two sides in the UK and there'd need to be a lot of money involved to bridge the gap. It might work out for some clubs after some short term pain.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure how far behind they would be - particularly when you take account of the Scottish clubs.}

Sucks for us, but I suppose it was inevitable under the circumstances. It's only football at the end of the day, not people's lives (sorry Shanks! )

Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - I am pretty sure there will be no decision on how it would end today.}

Jesus, I just read the Fat Kid's twitter where he boasted the Klopp gave him exclusive live coverage of the Liverpool v Shrewsbury game.

Yeah, I got 'exclusive live coverage' too with an illegal internet stream.

{Ed001's Note - funny I got live coverage without one, I must thank Jurgen for that then. Previously I thought it was down to BeIN Sports but clearly I was wrong. Good job Bolton Boy informed me of my error.}

Matt, don't forget that as well as leading Confederate forces Robert E. Lee was a slave owner himself and some sources attribute savage slave beatings to him too. I'm hoping it's wilshere's idea of a joke or irony.

I'd go to Anfield on the 26th May 1989 to run onto the pitch and rugby tackle Lee Dixon just as he's about to hit the long ball that Michael Thomas ultimately scored from.

Could also go back to some time before 2009 and kill JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman with a shovel so they can't ruin Star Trek.

Never looked like he was willing to stick his body where he might get hurt. Technically very good as the handful of goals he scored for us show, but always seemed to want it on a plate.

On the subject of 05/ 06. Opinions on Djibril Cisse? Scored 19 goals that season and his goal in the Cup Final was actually pretty good. But if he had done a better job of staying onside and not routinely blasted shots straight at opposition keepers, he probably would've scored about 30.

{Ed001's Note - he was blisteringly fast and hit shots with incredible power but lacked genuine technique.}

"Edging towards behind closed doors"

Er, it was never going to be anything other than behind closed doors. Just a case of which closed doors it'd be behind. Neutral ones, or the home team's as per the remaining fixtures.

The powers that be will surely do everything they can to avoid a situation where next season starts with injunctions or other legal action hanging over it.

Personally I expect that, if this season doesn't restart, as is likely, the Premier League and Football League will eventually agree that two teams be promoted, with no relegation from the PL this season, resulting in a 22 team PL. Which will be whittled back to 20 with extra relegation.

*Waits for Ed002 to come in and slap me for not knowing what I'm on about*.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what an injunction could be raised in respect of. I am also not aware of a situation where promotion may be denied but as the Premier League have yet to discuss and agree what happens if the season cannot be completed, whatever he has said is at this point no more than a distraction. At the moment, the situation is that Friday's meeting has been shifted to Monday and there is now a push to have the clubs vote on the proposal to play behind closed doors - the vote having previously been avoided as it was thought it would be rejected. A number of other issues are now coming to the fore which could also foul things up.}

Why did we take so long to replace him? I know we spent a year (or more? ) wrangling a work permit for Friedel, but that wasn't until 1997 or 98 when Jamo had been at the club since 1992 and first choice since 1994.

{Ed001's Note - because they kept hoping he would come good.}
