Ed02, are we likely to do any business in January? I know there are rumours of Trinidade if a deal can be done but any other targets or is the summer more likely? Thx.

Redflyer

{Ed002's Note - For January perhaps a CM/DM player such as Khephren Thuram will be picked over a strict DM player.}

1.) 18 Dec 2023 11:03:01
Don't see what Thuram offers this squad tbh. He's not a DM. After signing Gravenberch and already having Bajcetic on the books, do we really need another midfield project player?

2.) 18 Dec 2023 12:26:32
Has the situation changed as you know it with thuram Ed? Or is it the same as your last update?

{Ed002's Note - Khephren Thuram (DM/CM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs in the summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs, Liverpool and, in particular, Juventus remains but Liverpool will likely focus on a preferred DM option but will turn back to him if unsuccessful. Interest of Newcastle will likely fall away. If interest further grows his price will rise and the club would sell given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka and an impressive youngster in Reda Belahyane. Nice do not want to sell and again a move to OLd Trafford will not be welcomed by the Nice supporters. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City, out. Player wants PSG but they have no interest at this time - but his representative is pushing PSG as well as Real Madrid and will encourage the player to wait out the year and see what happens.}

3.) 18 Dec 2023 12:44:28
Cheers Ed, have a good day.

{Ed002's Note - And you.}

4.) 18 Dec 2023 14:42:31
Any developments on our search for a new Sporting Director, Ed? It's all gone a bit quiet.

{Ed002's Note - Not really. The person they were keen on was not interested. For now it stays as it was.}

5.) 18 Dec 2023 15:28:34
Assume that is the guy who is going to choose Bayern.

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

6.) 18 Dec 2023 16:26:20
Cheers Ed.

We keep waiting then.

7.) 18 Dec 2023 19:10:38
Thx Ed guessing Trindade is the preferred. Is the deal still complicated are is progress being made? Thx.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, preferred but there has been a hiccup as I have previously explained. Something can still be done.}

8.) 18 Dec 2023 20:43:17
Oh goodie. Just the 9 midfielders for 3 positions then, not including our actual best midfielder who is still in defence for some reason.
Could of done with a little bit of creativity in the middle Vs Utd couldn't we. I wonder who might have been able to provide that from the start? ?
Our midfield has lacked world class creativity since Gerrard and Alonso and he have a player with genuine ability and he's stuck half the game running from midfield to full back positions. Absolute bloody madness.

9.) 19 Dec 2023 00:56:53
Westwood for me I'd like to see Joey at right back and Trent pushed into the middle. We looked most threatening yesterday w Gomez at right back.

10.) 19 Dec 2023 00:54:56
Thx Ed. Hoping it works out imo we desperately need a dominant 6.

11.) 19 Dec 2023 08:58:03
And we bought MacAllister because of his standout season and then square peg him into a different role and don’t play to his strengths. Overcoaching needs to stop!

12.) 19 Dec 2023 18:14:50
MacAlistar played much of his time at Brighton in the deep midfielder role. He’s on record as saying his preferred position is the left side of deep lying midfield albeit as part of a double pivot. Not exactly a million miles away from what he’s being asked to do at Liverpool.

20 Aug 2023 20:45:25
Reading a deal close for Amrabat. Sorry Ed if I've missed this one. I know VV won't be happy but I thought he had a good World Cup and maybe worth a punt. Decent age fee been talked about reasonable this day and age.

Redflyer

{Ed002's Note - There must have been a grovelling apology.}

1.) 20 Aug 2023 20:57:51
Not reading this anywhere. Still think he goes to Man U and probably on deadline day.

2.) 20 Aug 2023 21:04:30
anything on your end to support this?

3.) 20 Aug 2023 21:38:43
God no.

On a side note I see Minamino had a great game tonight - scored 2 made 1.

4.) 20 Aug 2023 22:18:56
Everything I've seen say we've walked/ Amrabat isn't interested in LFC and he's going utd.

5.) 20 Aug 2023 22:39:41
I hope not. Built like brick outhouse but looks too slow for Liverpool and this League. Endo looks like he’s got energy and could fit in well.

6.) 20 Aug 2023 23:00:56
It’s the same innuendo riddled story circulated by the same clickbait sites repeatedly for the last 2-3 weeks. Unless you have a source that hasn’t got it from one of these sites, OP?

7.) 20 Aug 2023 23:21:02
Zed prob fallen for the dreaded clickbait guilty as charged. Would love to know what Klopp said back in Jan ?.

8.) 21 Aug 2023 00:19:08
I believe Klopp advised Soyfan that he’d have to sort out the daft goatie and grow a real beard like Alisson.

Soyfan took offence as he has a very high monthly beard grooming habit that he hoped would be an add on to his salary package.

I’m afraid I can’t name by source though.

9.) 21 Aug 2023 00:19:50
Done to death mate.

10.) 21 Aug 2023 08:33:25
We should get De Paul from Atletico. Surprised we didn’t try go for him over Endo tbh.

11.) 21 Aug 2023 01:44:03
A grovelling apology by whom and for what precisely?

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

12.) 21 Aug 2023 11:29:39
Brummyred- I don’t think De Paul is a 6 though, can play there but he gets forward more.

13.) 21 Aug 2023 12:07:03
Amrabat is barely a year older than Endo. Not sure he is who we need, IMO.

{Ed077's Note - Sofyan Amrabat turned 27 today. Endo turned 30 in Feb. I can quite figure out where there's a mistake Oli??

14.) 21 Aug 2023 14:54:36
Oli, dude, sharpen that pencil. You've been slipping recently. ??.

15.) 21 Aug 2023 16:44:31
Ed77, I keep reading that Amrabat is 29 in the media hence, my comment.

{Ed077's Note - evidently he's not.}

16.) 21 Aug 2023 16:49:00
ArAy1969, I guess that's what I get for believing what I read in the media, lol.

04 Aug 2023 21:15:01
Ed02, do you know how far apart we are from meeting Saints valuation for Lavia? I think he's high ceiling for sure and would love us to get this done. Thx for the great work you do on these forums.

Redflyer

{Ed002's Note - Yes - they want an achievable £50M. This has been explained over and over.}

1.) 05 Aug 2023 10:42:33
It’s not frustrating at all. I’m fine. I’m fine. I’m honestly fine.

2.) 05 Aug 2023 12:31:11
Interesting article on Liverpool website where Macallister talks about being able to play as a no.6 if necessary, but expecting to mostly play as an 8.

I would not be surprised to see him start in a deeper role against Chelsea.

3.) 05 Aug 2023 12:46:38
----Wrong page-------

4.) 06 Aug 2023 00:21:17
We are 2 million hotdogs from the valuation. Make of that what you will.

5.) 06 Aug 2023 23:47:09
ed2 - by "achievable 50mil", is that related to the add-ons?

{Ed002's Note - Including add ons that can be achieved, rather than those which are less likely.}

21 Jul 2023 19:33:09
Ed002, is there interest in Thiago? Reading maybe heading back to Spain. sorry in advance if this has been covered. Thx for all the great info.

Redflyer

{Ed002's Note - Thiago Alcantara (CM) His representatives have spoken to Barcelona about the player finishing his career back at the club but he would need to be very cheap and to have reduced wages. Seems unlikely. Galatasaray may offer an option - else it will need to be the ME if Liverpool are willing to listen to offers.}

1.) 22 Jul 2023 11:40:32
Ed02, I think the club are happy to either sell or keep Thiago initially but with both Hendo and Fab leaving suddenly, they may have to keep him for squad depth purposes, me thinks.

2.) 22 Jul 2023 12:49:28
Imagine that. Potentially 6 of our 9 midfielders gone, all in one summer (Keita, Ox, Milner, Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago) . Brand new spanking midfield, if you ask me (wasn't everyone screaming for that anyway? ) . Could be both good or bad; but I have faith in Klopp to choose the right replacements.

3.) 22 Jul 2023 16:11:02
It’s going to be a big overhaul. What I am most excited about (very very strangely) is just how much lower our wage bill could be with Firmino, Millie, Naby, Ox, Hendo and Thiago off it. Could fund one extra transfer just on the saved wages!

4.) 23 Jul 2023 01:24:19
Klopping has Mbappe on his mind ;)

12 Nov 2022 19:08:20
Ed02, love your thorough responses. Rather than ask you about individual players, do you have any information on IF we are looking to bring in any players in Jan and, if so, who we might be looking at. Thx.

Redflyer

{Ed002's Note - Availability and timing are the issues for January. Clubs rarely plan for replacements in January so are less likely to agree to first team players leaving. I would expect Liverpool to have targets who may not be available so they may have to wait for the summer, but clearly they are after refreshing the midfield.}

1.) 13 Nov 2022 18:54:58
Thanks. I'm guessing Ox, Keita, Milner will be gone leaving us w Hendo, Thiago, Fab, Elliott, Jones. I think for the right price Jones could be moved on leaving us w an aging and injury prone midfield. I can see 3 or so coming in. Am I about right here and do you have names that we're looking at? Thx.

{Ed002's Note - I have answered about the players we know of interest in. I think it likdly that AOC and Milner will be gone and Keita if a home can be found.}

2.) 14 Nov 2022 08:39:15

{Ed002's Note - Don’t talk about contracts as you don’t understand those either.}

3.) 14 Nov 2022 10:34:18
Ed, Keita is out of contract in the summer, right?

{Ed002's Note - Hes he is as it stands at the moment.}

4.) 14 Nov 2022 12:34:04
Thanks Ed!

Isn’t Keita’s contract ending this year so would just leave on a free?

{Ed002's Note - He could negotiate with another side from outside of England and Wales as of January.}

5.) 14 Nov 2022 18:12:08
I'd be astonished if the club offered Keita an extension. Talk about throwing good money after bad.

6.) 14 Nov 2022 23:41:02
Hi Ed, thank you for always share your view about LFC. Is it true that LFC looking after Noah Okafor in January? I think its a good option after we lost Sadio Mane, Origi and Takumi Minamino last season and AOC will leave at the end of the season.

{Ed002's Note - Noah Okafor (LW/S) An enquiry from Nottingham Forest was rejected in the summer. Leeds and Milan have a declared interest. RBS have no interest in selling but know his performances will attract a lot of interest not least from Inter Milan who are asking for talks. May have been noted by Liverpool whilst scouting another player.}

Love Peter Drury. Dying laughing here "Anthony gorgeous Gordon. " ?.

Me and my mate refer to him as “old lady Gordon” as we think he looks like Deirdrie Barlow ?.

Just watched "When Stevie Met Salah" on YouTube. Great watch. 30 mins. Very entertaining. Fully recommend. Good banter, funny, great memories for both players and fans alike.

You can see in Stevie's eyes just what his memories mean to him. Clearly he loves the club and the city and is rightfully emotional and proud of what he achieved.

Mo talks about how much he loves the Champions League and it makes me gutted for him and the club that we aren't in it this season.

When it comes to things such as the money on offer in Saudi, it's obviously a massive temptation. But like Lewandowski staying at Barca, I'd love to see Mo have another tilt with us in the CL one season from now.

I can dream. Ok off to refill the bourbon.

Redflyer

1.) 20 Sep 2023 17:00:45
I think some people are still a little giddy at the thought of all that Saudi money and what it could buy but I would rather see Salah stay for at least another couple seasons. His lifestyle says to me that he will be in peak physical condition until he is into his 40’s, not saying Id keep him that long but I just don't see his star fading anytime soon. How many times has he been written off, mainly by supporters of other clubs but yet he just keeps doing his thing, never injured (hardly) and so far this season he has turned more a creator than goalscorer.
Great footballers evolve and in some ways become better footballers as they get older. I see the same for Mo.
I don't think he’s ready to be pensioned off anytime soon.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool can force him to stay until the end of his contract and that will give him enough time to still raise some funds to help him through his retirement. But that won't happen. His agent and one assumes the player want out. Perhaps next summer.}

07 Sep 2023 19:59:32
Question for Ed01: how do u see us lining up in the middle once Gravenberch is up to speed? McAllister getting the nod at 6 last week over Endo was a surprise selection for me.

I don't know anything about RG other than what I've read. Likes to carry the ball forward and seems to have a good all around skill set. Do you see him being developed into a 6? I'm looking forward to seeing how the young mids get on this season (Jones Elliott Bajetic) and how all of this unfolds.

Seems Klopp has a plethora of attacking options in midfield now plus all the different types of players we have up top. Should bode for an exciting watch this season w so many different options to break sides down.

Redflyer

{Ed001's Note - it will vary from game to game, that is the point in getting options in.}

1.) 08 Sep 2023 00:05:00
rekon it'll vary game to game.
good to have options.

2.) 08 Sep 2023 00:58:19
It will be like watching a new team. Such. Different, line breaking, attacking and forward thinking midfield.

Legs. Technique. Superskill. Goals. Pace.

18 Mar 2023 17:51:29
Watching Saints today Sulemana and Lavia look two good players.

Redflyer

1.) 18 Mar 2023 18:06:11
Lavia will end up being a really really top no6. Complicated by the option City have on him.

Sulemana - not seen too much but a real livewire when I have. Dare I say a bit of Mane about him.

2.) 18 Mar 2023 18:34:51
Don't watch a lot of other teams but those two caught the eye today. Wasn't aware of the City connection but reading on Wiki says he signed a 5 year deal at Saints coming into this season. Do they have a buy back clause? Can't believe he's only 19. He has skill, tough in the tackle, eye for a pass, quick, worked hard.

Thought the same about the Mane comparison w Sulemana.

{Ed002's Note - Yes they have an option to buy him back but there is serious interest from elsewhere.}

3.) 18 Mar 2023 19:41:22
Thank you. Any from us? Ballpark fee?

{Ed002's Note - None.}

4.) 18 Mar 2023 19:58:07
Thx. Any rumblings w us losing any front players this summer?

5.) 19 Mar 2023 03:32:23
@Redflyer I saw that Firmino is leaving.

6.) 19 Mar 2023 10:45:39
Lavia, Lucas Leiva the good omens are indicating this also!

My last post today as my regular church going to St Peters Church in Woolton on the Hill is at eleven a. m. I got a good ticking off from Mrs Bond the other week for being ten minutes late, you could say i was sat in the Pew all day!

Sir Bob Paisley is buried there, his Son gives the Hymn Books out, not the least bit interested in football unlike his Dad.

For posters unable to go there, if you type in google search:

"Bob Paisleys gravestone, St Peters Church Woolton", there are some lovely pictures, and the verses on it which you can read if you magnify the pictures, all took on a lovely summers day.

It says "In loving memory of Robert (Bob) Paisley O. B. E. 1919-1996 ".

"He remained an ordinary man, amid extraordinary achievements".

At the very bottom of the grave stone there is one small etching of a football, that is the only thing that points to him being LFCs most successful manager ever.

Will have to dash am receiving verbals off you know who!

7.) 19 Mar 2023 12:58:12
Shows how rubbish we’ve been if Conte is lambasting a poor Spurs that are currently higher than us.

02 May 2022 18:28:57

Eds, reading 6-8 weeks ago that Salah's agent's fee might be one of the sticking points on him signing? I'd be happy w a front 3 next season like we had at Newcastle plus a Salah replacement. I'm also reading Salah saying he's not leaving so maybe he just wants to run down and bank the mega signing on fee a year from now. It would seem to me that Salah and his team are in control of his destiny whether it's a new deal w us or he runs down next year.

Redflyer

1.) 02 May 2022 21:23:32
I agree :-)

2.) 02 May 2022 23:21:59
That's very harsh on Ed001 RF😁.

3.) 03 May 2022 10:35:20
If Salah’s agent is asking for say 5 milll the club should go straight to Salah and say we’ll give you 1 mill more to sign and to get rid of such agent.

Saves 4 mill and takes another leach out of the game whilst keeping Salah who actually brings something to the table for the clu.

4.) 03 May 2022 10:49:57
I don't think Salah will ever throw him jk23 mate, he's not only he's agent but lawyer and advisor too.

5.) 03 May 2022 11:24:38
We don’t know the ins and outs of the deal. But as a lawyer and advisor I think he is highly unprofessional with things like laughing emojis in response to Klopp’s interview. Maybe he should advise himself on how to act as an lawyer, advisor and agent.

6.) 03 May 2022 11:38:04
God knows mate, I don’t think any of us know what’s really going on. Like so many things in football, people have extremely short memories. These sort of contract stand offs happen all the time in football and it doesn’t make sense for anybody to sign anything before the season is done and they’ve had time to reflect, not just for Salah but for Mane and Firmino as well. Depending on the outcome of this season they could all feel completely different about their prospects of signing another contract. I don’t really see an issue with it and i actually think all of them could end up signing still, and if not? Well we just thank them for the memories, move them on their way and replace them with somebody who actually wants to play. We’ll still be able to field an XI of very capable lads who give a toss and will be challenging for all the major trophies again next season, no matter what.

It’s all just a load of hot air drummed up by the media for me. I still think they’ll sign but if they don’t it’s really not the end of the world; nobody stays forever.

7.) 03 May 2022 11:52:17
AW - agree. Business is business. Anyhow, we made the best signing of the century last week by extending the Boss and his coaching team.

8.) 03 May 2022 12:48:34
@JK23 If Liverpool done that they would be slapped with a lawsuit from the agent for inducing breach of contract or the agent would pursue Salah for unpaid agent fees.

9.) 03 May 2022 13:01:57
Was it just me who was seeing a blank post from RF on mobile (iPhone)? Hence my flippant reply! What do you mean I always replay flippantly?!

{Ed033's Note - it wasn't just you.

10.) 03 May 2022 16:43:32
Think someone was saying couple weeks back there is a way to move the ads and see the posts?

So ironic I woke up this am to a WhatsApp from my uncle who lives in Anlaby, West Hull. The video was a pub crawl around the old town. Brought back many memories for me. Some new pubs and some oldies. Haven't been back there (old town) since 96 when I left. Tom I'm guessing you are from Hessle I'm also from Anlaby. Been in the states since I left.

For me Endo has made the 6 his to lose now. He's come on leaps. Jones on current form I don't see how he wouldn't be first choice. Grav has some nice parts to his game but has been poor of late. Nice to have the competition for places. One injury tho is all it takes to make the decisions easier for Klopp.

Disagree TB2. It's hard enough pipping City to the title without losing 3-5 points from two glaring errors and having little confidence that it won't happen again. Coote Hooper and England should never ref top level games again.

How many male commentators have played the game at a decent level? I can't think of any. Just throwing that out there.

There are amazing commentators like Peter Drury and Arlo White before he switched to golf. There are new equally bad male and female commentators imo. Living in the states we get Rebecca Lowe hosting the PL matches. I have to say I think that she's fabulous and is an amazing and knowledgable presenter. So not about the sex for me at all but much more about how well they do their job. That's how we should be judged.

Totally disagree Ed. With the ball at his feet only KDB is similar level in the PL at least. Don't watch any other leagues. Agree his best position is up for debate.

Redflyer

{Ed025's Note - as i said RF the guy is certainly a talent, i dont think his defending is his strong suit though mate and he has not played enough in midfield to really judge him yet, great passer of a ball with a wand of a right foot, needs to find a permanent role for me before he is fit to be mentioned in the same sentence as KDB..
