Oli - I think what we're seeing is a lot of men (maybe women too, but let's say it's most likely a bunch of men) who have unresolved trauma living their lives vicariously through their TV screens.

The lack of faith is from other pointless and fruitless pursuits of so called big name players, including, but not limited to, Tchouameni, Bellingham, Caicedo, Zubimendi. Joining the party late after others have already done the legwork (ie Bayern and City) is only likely to end one way.
Plus, it makes absolutely no sense spunking £100 million plus on a floaty number 10 when there are other more pressing issues. Can’t help feeling the story is being put out there as a distraction, as I can’t see that there is any real intent or possibility of actually signing the player.

The caveat with Osimhen’s “excellent” season is that it was in Turkey. Which is like filling your boots in Scotland. The other thing is, he wants around £220k+ a week net of tax, which is around £425k a week. He’s still a bloke who was happy to throw away a year of his career in a farmers league over his stupid wage demands and he’s still not prepared to reduce them. Weapons grade dickhead and I hope we avoid him.

Lookman is a winger, he’s certainly nothing like Firmino. He doesn’t physical presence to be any kind of centre forward and he’s not got Firmino’s intelligence on the ball.
Given his age (he’s 28 this year) and the fact he’ll be off to the AFCON, it would be a silly transfer as he is at the wrong end of his career and having another forward who’ll be away for four or five weeks is extremely disruptive.
He’s not worth anywhere near the fee that Atalanta want, plus he seems like a fragile ego who can’t take criticism and given how Slot doesn’t pull punches do we really want a player who cries in public when the manager criticises him? And that’s without mentioning his toffee past which is a big mark against him,
To go from talk of Isak and Alvarez to the likes of Lookman or Joao Pedro isn’t as much a steep drop off in quality as effing vertical. Lookman is Spurs level, not the level of a title winning team.

I have to admit to having doubts about his defending, but then the previous incumbent is hardly Maldini. Frimpong is one of the best attacking full backs in Europe and he’s evidently very keen to join. I think Slot can iron out his issues.
