Despite the worst start to a season for decades it's possible that by next weekend we could be well on the way to qualifying for knockout stage of CL and sitting in 4th place.
Don't risk Coutinho on Wed night if he's not 100%
We should have enough to beat Maribor without him
2 massive games which could really define how our season develops,

Supermane

1.) 29 Oct 2017 01:25:13
The worst start to a season in decades? Did you just make that up? We’ve had 4 worse league starts this decade!

2.) 29 Oct 2017 21:03:11
It's still early isn't it if we can put a run together anything possible in terms of finishing top 4 winning league would take a miracle, thing that worries me is we already seeing the strength in depth lacking in squad an with European football we getting stretched an are weak points being exposed hope we strengthen in January an we in a position too at least get in top 4.

3.) 29 Oct 2017 21:10:41
3 points from 4th. I'm sure we've beeb way behind that many a time.

4.) 30 Oct 2017 00:23:49
Think the point he is trying to make is with all the Klopp out” noise from last week, we are essentially one win away from 4th and in good shape for the CL.
Oh how things change in a week!

5.) 30 Oct 2017 12:28:42
Thanks gold stars
I should’ve said one of the worst starts
All is not lost yet.

It was widely reported that we bid for Asensio in April- was he a possible Coutinho replacement. If so, it would indicate that the club were preparing for the future without Pipco.

Supermane

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid's Marco Asensio has been the subject of interest from Arsenal who were looking at one time to replace Sanchez with him, Liverpool who saw him as an option to Brandt, Monaco as part of any deal for Mbappe and Juventus amongst others. Interersted sides have been told he is not for sale and Real Madrid are unwilling to have discussions with clubs about the player although they could yet be tested by Barcelona looking to pay his release clause - in which case it would be down to the player to decide if he would be open to a move to Barcelona.}

1.) 17 Aug 2017 12:27:44
Not a chance he'll leave in my opinion. He's come a long way in a short space of time and is on the brink of being a regular in Real Madrid's starting XI.

2.) 17 Aug 2017 12:34:28
Not a realistic chance of getting him he is the next big thing already worth a place in there starting line up.

3.) 17 Aug 2017 13:12:34
He looks like he could be the next big thing in football, hope he gets enough game time at Madrid.

4.) 17 Aug 2017 18:45:34
He is the heir to Bale/ CR7 at Real. Good luck getting him.

5.) 17 Aug 2017 21:30:14
Maybe this has been explained but why would Real want to sell to their direct competition? Is Barcelona the only club willing or able to pay the release clause?

{Ed002's Note - The release clause is of no relevance to any other side.}

18 May 2017 16:55:33
Marca saying we've had a 75m euro bid for Mbappe rejected
Is it accurate Eds.

Supermane

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they are confusing a Manchester United offer (which was higher than €75M that has already been rejected. Vadim Vasilyev has said that the reason the Manchester United bid was rejected was that the club wish to keep him. Although if enough were offered then it would make it hard to turn down.}

1.) 18 May 2017 17:17:44
Just imagine the scenes if we actually signed mbappe. what a player.

2.) 18 May 2017 18:14:19
Thx Ed02
It is shocking journalism if they have confused the two clubs.

{Ed002's Note - It comes from an interview that Vasilyev gave earlier today.}

3.) 18 May 2017 19:11:26
Prices for players are becoming ridiculous. The beautiful game has been ruined by the route of all evil = money.

All said and done, I will support Liverpool Football Club right till the end.

4.) 18 May 2017 20:02:06
Mbappe looks great but for the price involved can't see LFC in there, I would tell him to stay another year before he moved regardless he's getting game time and European football where he is.

5.) 18 May 2017 20:53:32
Just to be linked with this quality of player is a good sign tho. I'm not one for we need a marquee signing. BUTTTT this player does look the dogs danglys. 👍🤞him. mane . firmino up top? Got goosebumps thinking about it lol 😂.

6.) 18 May 2017 21:24:58
Given Utd's record of chucking very stupid money at players in recent years (Pogba, Depay, Martial, Di Maria, Shaw) with little success then I'd suggest that if their scouts reckon £75m on an 18 year old with one good season behind him is a good deal then we should leave them to it.

7.) 18 May 2017 22:28:07
The lads special and very much th3 real deal however this will not happen for liverpool on a million years.

8.) 19 May 2017 04:15:44
They said the same when depay signed for the Mancs.

{Ed001's Note - Depay had never shown anything to be considered special, Mbappe has given even the best defence in Europe (Juventus's) a torrid time. Mbappe is special. I mean really special.}

9.) 19 May 2017 09:11:15
Agree eds looks class 👍.

10.) 19 May 2017 10:23:37
I thought the whole point of bringing in Klopp was to do what he did at Dortmund.

75 million Euro bids for 18 yr olds? WTF? I earnestly hope it is not us.

11.) 19 May 2017 18:07:57
i don't think I'm the only one wishing it was true i could accept losing the little Brazilian if he was coming in but ed 02 has spoken and its all fiction . hope utd don't get him though.

12.) 19 May 2017 20:00:11
Is he as special as Pogba 😁.

13.) 19 May 2017 20:00:11

04 Dec 2016 20:00:07
Eds
Both our keepers are clearly not currently good enough.
Once Leicester's flirtation with the CL is over is there even a slim chance we can persuade Schmeichel to come in as no 1.

Supermane

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in him and Klopp has already secured the goalkeeper he wants. The club needs to make a decision about Danny Ward given I would expect Mignolet to move on in the summer. I said before Begovic was an obvious choice and available.}

1.) 04 Dec 2016 22:03:30
Just a suggestion if any of the EDDS are around, could the problem be JOHN ACHTERBERG, we get a new manager who buys a new keeper who is as bad as the previous keeper, it doesn't add up. just a suggestion.

{Ed001's Note - I have said for a while he is not a good coach for us. Nice guy, really nice guy, but he is still learning his way as a coach and we should have the best.}

2.) 04 Dec 2016 22:55:19
Which one of the first 3 goals could Karius have realistically saved?

3.) 05 Dec 2016 00:08:09
I think he could've done better preventing the 3rd and 4th Ron . I don't like picking on players, but puzzled why we replaced Mingo by this keeper.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 23:48:14
Ed002 would begovic have joined us having once turned us down before? Also I question his ambition going to chelsea knowing he would be 2nd choice. Be nice to know your opinion.

Cheers Baz.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, of course.}

5.) 05 Dec 2016 00:37:30
The 3rd goal? It was a cross into a crowded penalty area, our defenders let their centre back control it and he smashed it into the corner on the turn. Karius had no chance!
What about the defence stopping the cross or even being in the right position to defend the cross. Ridiculous to blame Karius for the 3rd goal.

6.) 05 Dec 2016 02:33:44
De Gea made an almost identical mistake last week, and yet he hasn't suddenly become crap. Players are human and will make mistakes. Its just its more obvious when a GK makes one. The issue is how does he respond. Migs' biggest mistake is that he dwells on the errors and it appears to affect his judgement as a result. Karius needs to show he will learn from his mistakes but shrug them off too. Give him time and see how he goes. It took De Gea almost 2 years to show people what he has got (ManU fans were spewing about him for most of that time) and yet I reckon most here would jump at the chance to sign him.

7.) 05 Dec 2016 06:16:03
@Ron - the 2nd goal was poor from Karius - went under his body when he should really of been saving it. 4th was just a routine save that he made a complete hash of. He was directly at fault for those 2 goals - 2 goals a better keeper would probably not have conceded. It is still early days and he is a young keeper - we can only hope he improves. How likely that is with Achterberg as coach is open to debate.

8.) 05 Dec 2016 11:55:45
A very good friend of mine has told me Bercovic was offered a first class route to Liverpool but the man himself insited London is the life for him n his lifestyle is that of an unpaid or should that be unplayed superstar.
He even scoffs at the idea of him not plying his trade but still appearing on Match Of The Day Extra.
Not the greatest individual to have at your club.

9.) 05 Dec 2016 12:20:54
Did someone seriously suggest Kasper Schmeichel?
1) he's not better than either Mignolet or Karius.

2) Do you not think the constant brain farting from our defenders and midfielders when under pressure and consecutive mistakes are more to blame?

10.) 05 Dec 2016 15:18:30
Dennis
The Leicester keeper is much better than both of our keepers put together.

11.) 05 Dec 2016 16:45:38
Did anyone notice Fraiser Fosters error on the weekend. It happens to all goalkeepers. Just give karius a chance. Its his first season and he will only get better with time.

12.) 05 Dec 2016 16:56:31
Forster is a terrible goalkeeper who frequently makes mistakes - not the sort of GK you'd want to be compared to.

{Ed025's Note - i think forster is a good keeper seano...i can think of worse.. :)

13.) 05 Dec 2016 23:44:03
I think your all to quick to blame Karius! Yes he made a complete hash of the 4 th goal, but the rest I wouldn't of expected him to save. The second was low and I'm the corner I don't think your apreciating how hard it is to get down that quick, the third, matey on there team had time to control it and get a shot away! Poor defending in my opinion. I think our problem with conceding is our defensive structure! It's all well and good pressing high up the pitch but once they have possession in our half we should adapt a more organised defensive structure. If you watch the other top teams when defending even against the small teams they are well organised and drilled.

14.) 06 Dec 2016 01:41:07
Ron, gk are only good when they pull off saves that are unrealistic to save, if not they ate just plain avetage. Peter Schmichael, DDG been doing that and save their team min 6-10 pts a season and all title holders have these kinda keepers.

15.) 06 Dec 2016 10:26:30
Karius is more style than substance at the moment. Like a lot of modern day footballers, would rather look the part than be the part. That's why you find a million youngsters who can ping 40 yard balls, pull off fancy tricks and walk around with headphones, but they don't have the intangibles:- desire, heart, courage, determination, fight, and team ethics. As long as they look good, they're halfway there. When your goalkeeper is a model, you can sure as heck guarantee when the going gets tough, he'll be looking for the hair wax to make sure the camera get's his good side. Give me Ogrizovic any day of the week. In fact, I'd probably say Massimo Taibi was a better player.

16.) 07 Dec 2016 19:14:41
Pretty sure he does not go out there to perform badly, he had an off day it happens to us all. Like i have said we need a better coach than john and we may stand a chance of improving our keepers. Anybody can work 16 hr days but if they do not have the expertise it matters for nought.

Karius comes across as lacking in confidence rather than talent and john has everything to do with that. Also i suspect the prep in terms of scouting opponents just is not being done and that again lies at the door of john. Maybe they should send him to shadow a high performing a couple of days a week to see how it should be done, just a thought.

17.) 07 Dec 2016 23:18:00
Apparently Peter Schmeichel offered to pay his own fare and digs to get a trial with Liverpool when Souness was manager. Souness said no.

I also heard that Cantona was offered to us but Souness thought he was too much trouble.

Has anyone else heard this?

18.) 08 Dec 2016 07:24:14
Cantona had a trial with Sheff Wed but Howard Willinson thought he was too disruptive.

19.) 08 Dec 2016 13:09:07
Hi Ron.
Did Cantona not play for Wilkinson at Leeds utd?

Apparently Fergie rang Leeds enquiring about Nigel martyn and Wilkinson turned him down but Fergie said for the crack what about Cantona and Wilkinson let hum go For 1 Million I think.
Bargain of the decade I'd say.

20.) 08 Dec 2016 19:36:06
You're right mate, might have been Trevor Francis who was Wednesday manager. Anyway, I know he had a trial at Wednesday and was deemed too disruptive.

21.) 08 Dec 2016 22:32:36
I've always thought Cantona was over rated. Maybe it's just me. Wasn't he voted best ever player at utd? I wouldn't have him in their top ten.

22.) 09 Dec 2016 14:41:13
Cantona was signed for a bargain around the same time as Beckham, Scholes, the nevilles, Butt, and provided leadership to these young lads.
Add in Keane, Irwin, Giggs and Schmeichel etc.
And you have at current transfer values
A team worth maybe 500,000,000 assembled at a small ffraction of the value.
The rest as they say is history.

23.) 11 Dec 2016 14:32:14
Karious is young and would prefer him in goals with him learning from mistakes than migs who hast learnt in 3 years. However, if we were going to have a keep per who is young and accept there will be errors then we should have saved our 4-5 million and played Danny ward.

7th draw in PL now.
Tonights was due to an inability to break down a stubborn defence rather than a stupid mistake.
Hopefully we can get 2 away wins to compensate for dropping points at home.

Supermane

1.) 13 Dec 2017 22:45:56
Sadly Klopp has failed to overcome teams managed by Fat Scam and Alan Pardew. A worrying trend!

These draws have cost us top 4 this season and possibly klopp his job. I personally think 6th position this season.

3.) 10 Dec 2017 19:53:07
got to agree Gomez was our best player,
strange tho isn't it, 70 per cent possesion, and our right back is man of the match .

17 Sep 2017 21:53:56
Sorry if it's a silly question but where do I find the match reviews.

Supermane

{Ed025's Note - football news and views page mate..

16 Sep 2017 23:21:31
Apart from our widely publicised defensive frailties we also don't present much of a threat from corner kicks.
Against Burnley we had 12 corners and couldn't muster one header on target.
They had 2 corners and as usual we looked particularly vulnerable. Mee almost scored from both.
Ed do u think that our poor offensive record from corners stems from the training ground or just poor execution during matches.

Supermane

1.) 17 Sep 2017 00:01:21
We never score from corners. I don't know why we keep chipping balls into the area when we could play it short and work something that way. I think our cbs must be soft. Big enough lads but none of em look the hard man.

2.) 17 Sep 2017 00:12:26
Ed
It was a question requesting your informed response please.

{Ed001's Note - both.}

3.) 17 Sep 2017 00:27:25
Our former kicks have been awful for years mate.

4.) 17 Sep 2017 04:17:16
I think they are linked but for a reason you've not touched on. We don't really have a good corner taker. The best is an 18 year old right back!

Due to that lack of dangerous set piece specialist, i think our defenders probably look great at defending them in training. Klopp probably thinks he has it nailed whilst they are heading away Milner and Henderson deliveries for fun!

Then they get into a game and face a corner with a bit of quality and the defenders are all looking around at each other like "what is going on, in training it never beats the first man! "

It's just my theory, but i don't see how you can train to defend decent corners if nobody in your own team can put a good corner in consistently.

Maybe we need to get Gerrard up to the first team once a week just to swing a few corners in for Matip and Mignolet to panic at 😂.

5.) 17 Sep 2017 04:48:22
it’s because our players, cbs especially, are major softarses who don’t like any physical contact and can’t handle it.

6.) 17 Sep 2017 06:22:50
Good point MK. Just gave me a different perspective on this. You are right, really!, how do they prepare if there is no one to present these situations in training.

7.) 17 Sep 2017 07:33:10
According to elite posters, it could be coached, but how many years would it take? No idea Boss!

8.) 17 Sep 2017 08:18:11
MK, very interesting post you put out there. Very interesting, indeed. Bravo, sir.

16 Sep 2017 10:14:31
Looks like Lallana coming back next month
Earlier than expected
We are going to have an embarrassment of riches in attack
But still bare thread in defence.

Supermane

1.) 16 Sep 2017 11:02:51
He offers something a lot different than the current midfield three as they are too similar in the way they play. His return will be a welcome boost for the squad and the manager.

2.) 16 Sep 2017 11:51:07
I would honestly try Wijnaldum in that role now.

3.) 16 Sep 2017 13:42:14
We have missed lallana positioning and drive.

We failed to stretch the game by using width to break Swansea down.
Klopp was angry at the defeat and this was partly due to Salah and Mane being central too often.
When we did get out wide and around the back we created.

Having said that I would start him on Sunday against Spurs.
Let's hope he continues playing well and also injury free.
