Bit of match of the day fever but is there any interest in Douglas Luiz.

kss

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool.}

31 Jul 2023 14:14:51
Hi Eds,

Is there any interest in Fikayo Tomori? I think he would be a great signing for us but i guess he would be a replacement for Konate or VVD.

Thanks in advance!

kss

{Ed002's Note - Yes but remarkably none from Liverpool given he is an ex Chelsea Academy player.}

1.) 31 Jul 2023 14:55:39
I wonder if Michael Duberry is available?

2.) 31 Jul 2023 16:08:55
My profound apologies…… Chopper Harris is the Chelsea defender we could use!

3.) 31 Jul 2023 17:09:31
I'm surprised at the lack of international caps that Tomori has given the level he has been playing at the last few seasons. I'd take him for us if he was available but sounds like he's off elsewhere based on Ed002s response.

{Ed002's Note - I did not say that.}

4.) 31 Jul 2023 19:40:16
Think it’s more Southampton players we are interested in ie Latvia and schuurs.

5.) 01 Aug 2023 07:40:17
Thuram, Kone, Barella, Chiesa, Kimmich, Gvardiol, Bellingham, Mac Alister, Szoboszlai, Lavia, Schuurs, Van de Ven, Mbappe all linked with Liverpool, none from the Chelsea Academy. To be fair, Colwill is, so I guess it evens it up.

As an aside I see Juventus were kicked out of Europa for FFP ‘indiscretions’. I heard Chelsea were fined too for variations on the theme but UEFA decided not to throw them out of European competitions this season. Oh, hang on. Perhaps the continuous, tiresome references to Chelsea would be better on the Chelsea board?

16 Dec 2021 14:31:54
Rumours circulating VVD has tested positive for C.V. and will miss tonights game.

kss

1.) 16 Dec 2021 14:54:46
Fingers crossed not obviously but I'd have no problem with Matip and Konate at the back if he was missing.

{Ed0666's Note - he’s played way to much football anyway he needs a break. Gomez and Matip for ne.

2.) 16 Dec 2021 15:40:05
Not sure how much of a rest having C. V. is.

3.) 16 Dec 2021 16:51:21
If true, should be Konate over Gomez. Don’t think Gomez is that great to be honest, I’d rather sell him than Phillips.

{Ed0666's Note - and what’s Konate done to prove to you he’s better than Joe? If you ask me he’s been mediocre at BEST

4.) 16 Dec 2021 17:22:43
Correct Ed.

He makes me nervous. There is a player in there though.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sure he’ll shine but he needs time to learn the Liverpool system as he’s used to playing in a three.

5.) 16 Dec 2021 18:51:10
Are you sure this doesn’t relate to the headline that VVD test positive for being the best defender In The world. That was released earlier as a joke by a Liverpool website.

6.) 16 Dec 2021 18:52:22
Maybe not! Fabinho and VVD and Jones are out.

7.) 16 Dec 2021 19:34:01
Was Jones ever in? Eye injury has been keeping him out.

8.) 16 Dec 2021 20:56:50
I don't tnk Gomez is average. i rate him above matip. but he has to be match fit to start in the game without vvd.

9.) 16 Dec 2021 23:41:24
It was Newcastle, could have bought in a steward to play CB and beat them.

19 Jul 2019 10:22:55
Hi eds, do you have any information on Bilel Hassaini? reports stating we hold an interest but haven't heard is name mentioned previously.

Thanks for your time.

kss

{Ed002's Note - Hassaini is a young RW/AM who a lot of clubs want to sign as he is out of contract at Nancy - although there are negotiations going on for a new contract. Right now the issue is a demand for first team football which Nancy won't agree to. There is also another issue which is a problem - although that is not slowing the interest.}

1.) 19 Jul 2019 11:45:54
Thanks for the info ed much appreciated.

2.) 21 Jul 2019 00:37:21
As he is yet to sign a contract I presume any fee that a club will need to pay will be a compensation type package. Similar to Harvey Elliot, also solanke and ings in the past.

Any insight Ed into how these type of fees are often calculated in tribunals and stuff. What criteria is taken to consider the value of transfer? Any short rough explanation would be interesting to hear as I'm clueless to the subject.

{Ed002's Note - In the UK a tribunal is a gathering of the Professional Football Compensation Committee to resolve matters of compensation for players under 24 moving when out of contract. It is chaired by someone with an appropriate background in law - a sports barrister or an independent contracts lawyer would be examples. The other members will be representatives of the LMA, PFA, leagues the club play in (e.g. Premier League, Championship etc.) and two footballing representatives. They will be unbiased.

It is based on the training of the player since the age of 12, the tier the clubs play in (all clubs across the world have a tier), age, interest from elsewhere, the FIFA training compensation rules (which recognise financial disparity between clubs, time the player has been with the previous club, contract terms, academy costs, costs incurred by other clubs in training, living accommodation, scouting, travel, international caps etc.). I don't want to get in to detail as it can be complicated as it goes back to the age of 12.}

3.) 21 Jul 2019 20:19:52
That's a very well explained insight into how it's decided, thanks very much for taking the time to answer. Something new learned today.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome and a good question.}

03 Dec 2018 10:20:18
Hi eds, would you be able to shed any light on Harry Wilson. Having a great season with Derby would be interesting to know the clubs plans with him?

Thanks.

kss

{Ed001's Note - plan is to assess him in the summer.}

1.) 03 Dec 2018 11:03:41
Thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

Does anyone else think that Hendo could be a big miss this season considering how the season is going. I know we are top but I still personally believe someone with his leadership could take us the the step. Hopefully proven wrong but let's wait and see.

kss

{Ed025's Note - yeah kss, its a pity he was a greedy mercenary with no scruples really mate..

1.) 11 Dec 2023 22:14:43
I think we have enough leaders in the squad. Virg Ali Salah Trent Robbo. These lads have been around the club for a long time.

2.) 11 Dec 2023 22:17:08
Yes we miss Hendo’s leadership like we miss Bobby creating all the space for Mo to score. Thinking about it We also miss Paul Koncheskys mum criticising the club and fans.

3.) 11 Dec 2023 22:18:53
I don’t really understand why people are so bothered about Hendo going out there for a last pay day. Nothing new, nothing to see here for me.

{Ed025's Note - its the hypocrisy FF, if he had just admitted that it was greed and that he went for the money and didn,t give a toss about the gay community then no one could argue mate..

4.) 11 Dec 2023 22:32:12
He got behind a cause because it suited him, not because it meant something to him.

{Ed025's Note - im with you Semi..

5.) 11 Dec 2023 23:01:43
I’m sure he would have stayed at Liverpool had Klopp not made it clear his playing time would have been limited - that’s a very difficult position to be in when your club captain.

6.) 11 Dec 2023 23:05:11
He may of just been put forward as part of his contract? Like the Nivea ads. It doesn’t bother me what you are, colour, ethnic background or sexual identity. We are expected to respect if people change there mind to become a different gender or change there mind to change there religion so why can’t we respect the fact hendo changed his mind.

{Ed025's Note - can you really change your mind about allowing somebody to express their sexuality John?, if you can it means you have been living a lie i would think mate..

7.) 11 Dec 2023 23:33:07
Loved the guy myself, thought he was our best captain since Hansen. Hate to say it but got to agree with ed025. The hypocrisy of his decision just makes a mockery of all his previous work. I can’t see how you can support that cause and go to play in that country. It’s not like he needed the money.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely Bobby, i thought he was an excellent captain myself mate, but feel he let himself down and ruined his legacy with Liverpool..

8.) 12 Dec 2023 03:18:01
I don't think we miss Hendo's leadership on the field. I think VVD, Alison and Salah have stepped up and filled in the slack. We wouldn't have so many come from behind wins, otherwise. As far as the off field issues are concerned, I prefer not to judge. Money is the biggest motivator around and everyone knows it.

I do miss Bobby Firmino though.

9.) 12 Dec 2023 04:12:22
Indeed Semibythesea3, did he get that MBE on the back of all that work?

10.) 12 Dec 2023 05:50:31
I’m sure he would have stayed at Liverpool had Klopp not made it clear his playing time would have been limited

If he really thought he would play ahead of Szobozalai then he is the dumbest person in the world.

11.) 12 Dec 2023 06:28:30
It’s like Stevie’s last year or so where everyone was freaking out about letting him go. The absolute correct decision would have been to let him go the season before we did.

12.) 12 Dec 2023 07:28:30
I personally have no problem with any player playing in saudi but I think hendo made a rod for his own back, can't preach 1 thing and do the opposite. I'm also bit disappointed he didn't stay another year and accept a 'smaller'role in team. like op I think he could've been v useful for team and v important off field, he wealth of experience and if we still in league race come end of season he has been there and done it.

13.) 12 Dec 2023 08:03:10
Agreed Digger and that is why I love Milner more than any other player. Hendo not only left for money he also took a cheap shot at the club and Klopp later in an interview.

14.) 12 Dec 2023 08:32:29
lol earlier reply has heaps of the message missing lol

anyways, my point is that we don't miss Hendo and that even if we don't win anything, it won't be due to him being going. Imo a function of our current form is due to his absence because it's allowed others to step up. Nothing to do with him as a player or a person.

Also, whether Hendo moved to KSA or not has no impact on the ongoing fight and advocacy for the rainbow community.

15.) 12 Dec 2023 11:11:57
Nah, OP. We're good, thanks.

16.) 12 Dec 2023 10:42:14
Valid point Faith. If you look at it in a pragmatic and practical manner, maybe Hendo asked himself what the rainbow community was doing for him, to give up a brighter financial future for his family and himself? I firmly believe one person can make a difference, but then that one person has to choose his battles himself/ herself. Probably Hendo decided that he could "fight that battle" (support the rainbow community) only up to a certain degree? That's being a bit transactional, but who am I to judge someone's choices? I'm not the one who puts bread on his table.

17.) 12 Dec 2023 14:44:31
He has ruined his legacy ed25, not in my book anyway.

{Ed025's Note - i suppose we all have our own views on it John, for me its about the person rather than the footballer mate, some think different and thats fine..

18.) 12 Dec 2023 15:03:57
Is it really greed though Ed? I understand the LGBTQ community being upset with him as he offered his support as if they meant something to him but it turned out to be just what we all knew it was in the first place. A PR exercise.

I do have to pull you up on questioning his greed and morality though. If someone offered most of us that level of money to work in Saudi Arabia doing an easier job we’d take it in a heartbeat. It’s not greed or immoral it’s just common sense.

When you have a family and it’s your responsibility to provide for them you want to give them the best you possibly can and he’s done that.

I find it hard to question his morals when I would do exactly the same thing in his position, as most sane people would.

{Ed025's Note - im not buying that excuse BP, before he left he was worth £23m mate...how much do you need?, thats enough to secure the future for generations of his family mate, and he still had quite a few years to go in football on obscene wages, it seems you would have done the same and thats very sad to me, especially when you see people living on the streets and others choosing whether to eat or heat, it is pure greed in my book and you and him are typical of this modern day society who,s only motivation is avarice, they say it takes all sorts but i would like to think i would never succumb to such treachery of my socialist values..

19.) 12 Dec 2023 16:43:42
I find it hard to question his morals when I would do exactly the same thing in his position, as most sane people would.

You would also be called a Hypocrite if you had previously supported a different cause!
Simple.

Dewsbury-Hall the latest name linked. hoping there is no truth in this.

Hi eds,

I've seen the name Danjuma from Bournemouth floating around. not sure how true links are but is there any interest?

Thanks in advance!

kss

{Ed002's Note - try searching.}

1.) 03 Aug 2021 20:13:08

I have to agree with Red Lobster. Not adding to the squad will be a bad move. Not saying let's go spend millions and get in all the big name players but we need some one who can challenge the front 3. Yes Origi helped us win the sixth (will be forever grateful) but he is simply not good enough. Brewster is still covering from a long term injury and will have to step up to the physical PL and who knows if he will or not. Imo will finish 3rd and make the quarters in CL.
