Any interest in Berindinho (sorry ill and ability to spell is gone)

I personally think he would be a better fit than Benteke, and also cost less.

Also wondered if his departure from the Devil himself, Aidy Ward, could be a way to pave a move to LFC (or am I merely hoping)

{Ed001's Note - no, he has a lot more problems to fix than just his agent.}

1.) 14 Jul 2015 14:34:06
Berahino is a great shout! was a fella on Talksport saying the same. More mobile than Benteke n a natural goal scorer and of course cheaper too.
We should be at least considering him, Benteke is a good Andy Carroll only.

2.) 14 Jul 2015 14:31:52
Ed have I missed something. btw not being sarcastic just like him as a player lol

{Ed001's Note - the guy is as much trouble as Sterling.}

3.) 14 Jul 2015 16:50:32
Berahino is aweful, a troublemaker and vastly overrated

4.) 14 Jul 2015 17:42:37
Berahino would be perfect, I thought he'd changed agent

5.) 14 Jul 2015 21:58:25
Perfect if you want an irresponsible drink driver playing for your team, someone else who thinks he is better than everyone else and thinks the law does not apply to him. I hope we get Benteke, he will eat defenders for breakfast.

I am going to start by saying I don't think this is happening, but we are all of a sudden 7/2 favourites to sign Greizman. Also he is in the UK. in London at the nba.

See the dreaming has started lol.

06 Jan 2018 21:55:34
Is mahrez the replacement. good player but a definitely downgrade.

1.) 06 Jan 2018 22:11:56
yeah a premier league winner, as well as eclipsing couts goals and assists stats. Its an upgrade.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 22:48:24
It's not an upgrade. If it was an upgrade Barcelona would be buying folking Mahrez wouldn't they.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 22:50:40
Phil Neville ha Premier League winners medal but does that make him a better player than Steven Gerrard? I think that one off good season is not a reasonable means of judging Mahrez, he lacks the vision and guile of Coutinho and the price we would be paying is £25m far too much, an average premier league player at best replacing a player who is a world class talent. Standard us. This is an Andy Carroll/ Alberto Aquilini moment if ever there was one. The only way this deal would look good is if we also brought in a top class keeper and centre midfielder with a view to bringing in Lemar in the summer. Given the rumours of Madrid’s interest in Salah.

06 Jan 2018 17:53:31
My problem is not him leaving. my problem is the way he has gone about. Good luck in Spain, and good riddance. no one is bigger than the club.

1.) 06 Jan 2018 18:01:04
Our problem is replacing him.

2.) 06 Jan 2018 18:06:50
Absolutely spot on.

3.) 06 Jan 2018 18:09:32
I don't care about him. My problem is we've risked the entire season for nothing. It doesn't benefit us.

4.) 06 Jan 2018 18:15:34
I’ve no problem with him leaving. If the news is correct £142m is a decent fee, £100+ up front and realistic add ins to make the rest. Now we better had invest it sensibly in the squad to make up what we’ve lost. Thankfully we have time to but rather than panic.

17 Dec 2017 22:56:35
Keep hearing how simular we are too spurs apart from they have a better defence. we have conceded just 2 more goals than them this season. and of the 20 we have conceded 12 of them were in 3 games.
6th best defence in prem.
Don't get me wrong still think we need a new cb and goal keeper, but we really are not that far away.
If we can move that on to 3-4 best that a few of those draws becoming wins.

1.) 18 Dec 2017 00:24:40
Notice how much better we've been since Matip has been out 🤔 maybe it's a coincidence but for me, Klavan and Lovren seem to be building a decent partnership and i wouldn't break it up any time soon if I'm honest. Not unless we sign a top class centre back in January, at least!

2.) 18 Dec 2017 00:36:44
They definitely seem to have a decent understanding today. They pass out from the back quite well. There is still the niggling problem that they are slow for the way we want to play.

3.) 18 Dec 2017 02:48:21
finding consistency and confidence seems to be key for our guys.

4.) 18 Dec 2017 03:20:50
Klavan isn't the greatest defender but he is no nonsense, he puts in a shift, he tries hard and he seems to at least try and read what his team mates are doing. He looks vulnerable to pace and his passing is dodgy to say the least, but he at least tries which is why I think he is playing better than Matip. Even if Matip was fit I wouldn't put him in the team.

5.) 18 Dec 2017 06:51:56
If Defoe hadn't dragged his shot wide we wouldn't be saying this. We still have serious problems, they just weren't punished today.

{Ed001's Note - you can only think of one incident but that is indicative of serious problems? You really must be a joy to live with, damn you are a miserable bugger. We battered them 4-0 and still you want to whine like a spoilt child who has had their favourite toy taken away!}

6.) 18 Dec 2017 07:42:35
PutneyRed, we should have been 3 up when Defoe got his big chance. So in hindsight if both teams had taken their chance we would still have a 2 goal cushion over them. You are making a big deal out of nothing.

7.) 18 Dec 2017 07:49:57
Sorry ed, I probably didn't communicate well (I had only just woken up) .

I'm referring to the posts above suggesting that Lovren and Klavan are a solid CB pairing. I don't think they are and I don't want to rely on them any longer than we have to.

Didn't mean to take anything away from the performance yesterday, we were excellent.

{Ed001's Note - how is giving up one chance in 90min showing they are not solid? You are making no sense and just picking at things for the sake of it.}

8.) 18 Dec 2017 08:04:06
You mean he Defoe chance where Gomez played him onside?

I think you're clutching at straws trying to blame that on Lovren or Klavan. Though i do think Lovren should've played to the whistle as he stopped and put his arm in the air for offside. Gomez was at fault though. He dropped without communicating.

He's still a kid though so he will make the odd mistake. It's up to the analysts and the coaches to point it out to him so he can learn from it. Lovren, Klavan and Robertson all held their line to perfection.

Anyway, if you still think it's their fault, I'm not really concerned about conceding one major chance away from home to one of the most attacking teams in the league. If Salah had taken his chances we'd have been 5-0 up by the time Defoe hit the post. It's all ifs and buts. They don't matter. We won 4-0.

9.) 18 Dec 2017 08:13:04
Putney, if you only picked out one incident (btw, Wiji was at fault for losing the ball stupidly in midfield) out of 90 minutes as indicative of serious problems then for sure, you are really scraping underneath the bottom of the barrel to find something negative to say. I normally love your posts BUT this one is way of mark. Cheer up, man. We won, scored goals, clean sheet and all the boys played well. Why so negative?

10.) 18 Dec 2017 08:34:30
Guys, behave, of course I'm not using that chance as my one example that we have serious problems in defence, we all know that we have serious problems.

My point, however badly articulated, is that if that goal went in the talk on this post wouldn't be about how good Klavan and Lovren are it would be 'good team performance but I still think we need a new CB'.

I hate over praise as much as I hate over criticism. Klavan and Lovren have been doing a decent job but if the right CB is available next month I want us to buy him because we are in a fight for the top 4 and CB is one of our main weaknesses.

I apologise if right after a good win is the wrong time to make this point but it doesn't make the point wrong.

11.) 18 Dec 2017 08:48:07
Klavan is out no 1 CB for me, they all have weaknesses who doesn't, but for me, he's got the most heart, most likely to stick his head, leg, body on the line, and probably the strongest. His lack of pace is his issue, so why not give him a chance with Gomez?
Matip has to go for me, too lazy, slow and not turned up at all this season. Lovren has had moments, but he seems to be able to keep fighting.

12.) 18 Dec 2017 09:51:47
I agree with Putney.

I think people have misunderstood him there. Klavan and Lovren are doing well no doubt but we should not let this good run of form mask the need for a centre back.

Surely we all agree with that?!

13.) 18 Dec 2017 10:11:14
Putney is a great contributor, usually very positive, and i do understand his point. Its still all "Ifs and buts" though. If both teams had scored all their chances i think we'd have won about 18-3!

Putney, your post on Chamberlain was awesome so please don't take it personally.

As you say Keith, we still need a new centre back regardless!

14.) 18 Dec 2017 10:38:30
if defoe's goal went in, we'd be in typical irrational meltdown about the defence. again completely missing that the opposition had free reign running towards our goal with our defence caught between going for the ball and tracking the run. that kind of situation catches out the best defences and often it is simpply a matter of an individual making a good read to intercept or simply having the pace to make up the ground.

Putney is right tho, the criticism would be all over lovren and klavan had that goal gone in.

15.) 18 Dec 2017 12:57:58
Regardless of yesterday, our centre half's are just not good enough, and it urgently needs addressing over the next two transfer windows. Fair enough, there's no need to keep highlighting there faults, but they eventually are all going to have to go.

16.) 18 Dec 2017 12:58:52
As a footnote, definitely not VVD. Most overrated CH in the league.

01 Sep 2017 18:14:29
Hi eds
Even if we lose couts today. there seems to be shift in player power this summer. Sanchez/ vvd/ Barkley

Is this simply the tv deal meaning clubs have enough money that can hold a player or is it just a strange transfer window.

{Ed002's Note - It is something the clubs need to resolve.}

1.) 01 Sep 2017 18:24:09
Is there really though? . We probably could have got Van dijk if we'd conducted ourselves correctly. Wasn't it Bartley who decided not to leave randomly, and don't think sanchez has pushed to leave too much, really bad timing for arsenal as well.

{Ed002's Note - it has been becoming more and more of an issue.

Really . sturridge lazy.

He just is not the player he was. He was at his best when he had the power to surge pass player over the first 5 metre. Injuries have robbed him of his best assets.

To call him lazy is ridiculous and suggest you do not watch football that often.

He should have been push to first team instead of sterling. he actually wanted to play for us. one of the many things that buck cocked up on.

Ridiculous comment. I bet 15 years ago you were a Lucas hater.
Hendo has had a poor run but he is quality.
Just because he does not grab the headlines. watch him play, watch the work he gets through. and his passing range is superb. if he played for say Dortmund and was foriegn wed say what a player. sign him up.
I would have his consistency, discipline and will to work for the team in holding mid over can every day of the week.

The issue is clear BUT it does not go deeper than the coach. Season stats
7-8 28 conceded
8-9 27 conceded
9-10 35 conceded
10-11 44
11-12 48
12-13 54
13-14 50
14-15 48
15-16 50
16-17 42
Last season was the best in 7 years and we were progressing. But the major jump coincides with the sacking of rafa. and how we bemoaned him playing to holding midfielders lolol.

I think klopp is the man. but it frustrates me that he has not recognised the problem, that if you are going to play this attacking football you need a bit more protection to the back line. spurs played us perfectly and hit us on the break time and time again.
To play the way we play you need quick centre backs. and solid defensive minded full backs. and a goal keeper that does not shout, but shouts the right things, organises and communicate well and quickly.
A quick fix until these players are got is available already. we have the players already to play 4-2-3-1. offering that bit more protection against the break. klopp reputation is still in tact, but if he fails to address these issues he is seriously going to start looking like a flawed manager as per Rodgers.
Finally I would not let migs near that team again. If we are going to have a keeper making mistake after mistake then play the younger ones who may learn from their mistakes as migs clearly is not, has not and never will learn.

Lallana has a bit of creativity we miss. I would have him and Chamberlain.

Also notice the moment we fell apart against spurs. just after hendo left the pitch. The guy is massively unmoderated. holds, protect, talks and organises. also has a tremendous passing range. for example him or dier. hendo all day long.
Btw I Wilshire is a good good player. injuries aside he would be established top notch player by now. Why has this forum just become about slagging players off.

Karious looks nervous. why is this? .
Migs has had 5 years, makes the same mistakes. we know he is never going to change. He has little command of his area and his communication is awful. This radiates to our defence, and proven I international class defenders who have performed before coming to us look, well frankly useless. he's a nice guy, but sometimes you need to have that bit of arrogance in a position like GK.
Karious is young and can learn, and for me he looks like he is someone who can have the confidence to succeed. His decision making can be wrong (age and expeariance) but I'd prefer a keeper who the defenders know what he's going to do, whether it right or wrong. Basically I'd prefer a keeper who can learn from the mistakes.
I myself would prefer we go and spend the money and get a off the peg worldly, as I believe that with a keeper that can be trusted and has the confidence of his defence, would make our back 4 look massively stronger. It could save us millions on reacingg defender we don't need too.

Just my opinion.

But to be fair we have only loss 3 games all season. so stats are bit stupid.
