Guys I think I know the solution to our misfortunes as of late. We need Mo Salah to get a hair cut, we need the Egyptian George Clooney back.

Midge3

1.) 25 Apr 2021 09:22:24
We also need Mo to share his shooting coach with Bobby, Jota and Mane. We could get them to coach the midfield as well but they will have to be taught how to shoot from 40 yards as that’s about as close they get to the goal.

2.) 25 Apr 2021 09:55:14
When did it become a legitimate tactic to assault the opposition’s best player. every time he was on the ball in his own half? Even Klopp looked embarrassed.

3.) 25 Apr 2021 10:13:43
Not sure why thiago was subbed before his customary yellow card. He was controlling the midfield.

4.) 25 Apr 2021 10:33:08
I think Salah’s situation in front of goal is over- confidence, he expects to score and sometimes is too cocky or greedy.
Bobby and Mane are the other way, chronic lack of confidence in each’s finishing, and that’s more worrying.

5.) 25 Apr 2021 10:43:29
To add to my thoughts on Mane too, he’s very combative, that’s part of his game. But I’ve certainly noticed this season he’s coming in for more rough treatment, often with opponents doubled up, and his natural reaction is to fight back .
It does get him embroiled in battles, sometimes leading to frustration when he sees himself wronged or on the wrong end of referees decisions.
I think it takes his concentration off the game, and he ends up snatching at chances when previously it just came naturally.

6.) 25 Apr 2021 11:10:46
True Juicer, but look what happens when he passes the ball! He sets up his team mates regularly and they mess it up every single time. Id rather have 3 selfish yet prolific forwards than what we have currently.

7.) 25 Apr 2021 12:06:56
“When did it become a legitimate tactic to assault the opposition’s best player. every time he was on the ball in his own half? ”. Well Oxley, the ‘reducer’ has always been a legitimate tactic. See the expert job that Claudio Gentile did on Diego Maradona in 1982. It was a violent, yet beautiful bit of defending.

8.) 25 Apr 2021 12:47:08
Exactly 6Times. Part of the modern game. A guy in the middle who means business and is all about "thou shalt not pass" me. And we have two of them actually. Fabinho and Milner (when he comes on) . ManC would not be where they are without Fernandinho.

9.) 25 Apr 2021 13:43:16
If a few of those had been dished out on Kroos and Modric in the first leg against Madrid it might have been a different story.

Ed’s, ever thought about creating a horse racing page? With Cheltenham in action I had a browse through your talk sites and was surprised to not find one.

Eds my comment was meant for the post about MOTM.

Midge3

{Ed001's Note - ok mate I have deleted it from there and will just post it here for you as I don't have the time to look through and find the right thread sorry:
15 Jan 2018 10:08:16
I think lovren had an immense game, constantly stormed forward and nicked the ball in front of players. Had city not scored those two late goals he would have got it. Looks like VVD signing is having a positive impact on him.

1.) 15 Jan 2018 10:28:09
Cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

2.) 15 Jan 2018 10:36:56
I think Lovren made an error on last goal. looks like he tries to go forward to head the cross away and misses it totally. Just one of those errors he makes a bit to often. But otherwise he played well.

{Ed001's Note - it did end up with him ducking under the ball sadly. Gutted for the lad as he has dealt with so much crap in his personal life he deserves to succeed.}

3.) 15 Jan 2018 10:56:57
Could VVD be the perfect partner for him Ed?

{Ed001's Note - he does need someone to talk to him during the game. In fact the whole team has missed that gob at the back keeping them in line in recent years. Van Dijk does provide that, so could well be.}

4.) 15 Jan 2018 11:00:54
Very true, I hope Lovren get's a player of the month award, just to show true fans really do support him no matter what, as you say he has been through so much, he deserves our support. He gives it his all, sure he's not a great player we all know that but he is human and has been through a hell of a lot, things that can drive players into mental illness, let's try and help him instead of judge him. He had death threats a couple of months ago due to some shocking mistakes in the game, this is too far and needs to stop yet now having read a post this morning it's started with Karius, disgusting.

5.) 15 Jan 2018 11:17:02
There will always be mistakes. With the TV coverage now we can't miss a thing. As fans we really need to try and stop the rot of blaming players so quickly and get behind them. Then we might carry on seeing transformations like we have in Ox and Robertson at least yesterday. I get it when players have been given the chance and they don't take it but the karius thing is disgusting how far fans go.

Lovren did seem to duck out on the third goal but I saw Robertson also had one hand on Gundogan when the cross came in and then lost him. Just think it was a lack of concentration from them all a little bit to be honest. Thought Lovren had a good game apart from that.

6.) 15 Jan 2018 11:25:25
Thanks for the reply mate.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

7.) 15 Jan 2018 11:46:13
I don't for a second believe real fans would send death threats to anyone.
This is just mentally ill people who would have done it anyway to somebody else.
Another version of a keyboard warrior.
Sadly it'll only get worse until someone or a few individuals are made an example of for doing it.
Disgusting behaviour!

8.) 15 Jan 2018 12:23:59
I agree with you ed about lovren he took an hell of a lot of flak a few months ago but got so much support on this site ok he still makes mistakes but don't all players well done to all of yous out there who give him the support he needed.

9.) 15 Jan 2018 12:08:22
. I saw a side to Louvrens game yesterday that I didn't see a lot of before. That anticipation he showed in nipping in and pinching the ball. Previously, he'd wait before reacting. This often resulted in him making late tackles and conceding what looked like clumsy fouls.
I reckon someone is coaching him. And very well too.
Could he do a job as a defensive midfielder?

10.) 15 Jan 2018 12:46:48
Easy way to fix the death threats problem - all social media requiring you to register a credit card to use it. Can stay anonymous to the rest of the world if you choose but if you break the law, they know exactly who you are!

14 Oct 2017 14:24:50
Nothing wrong with our performance today, just lacked that finishing touch once again. 'Top of the league your having a laugh' give tony pulis 200m to spend and he beats us today, the Jose mourinho hype is ridiculous!

Midge3

{Ed025's Note - i agree midge..

1.) 14 Oct 2017 14:51:01
Mourinho had a plan and he got what he wanted. A point. We failed yet again to get the points we wanted. That's why they will finish ahead of us.

2.) 14 Oct 2017 15:24:34
I'm happy with that point to be honest. That'll do me, I thought it'd be a draw, never expected anything more or anything less.

3.) 14 Oct 2017 15:55:19
Our defence comes in for a lot of stick so a big "Well Done" for the clean sheet today, against the league leaders. Should have nicked it but hey, we didn't lose.

4.) 14 Oct 2017 16:02:48
Give it a rest Roy. none of us expected anything more before kick off. Second Top scorers in the league and they play like that against there biggest rivals, not convinced. City for the title imo.

5.) 14 Oct 2017 16:21:49
Please explain to me why a manager who is trying to get past a parked bus doesn't add attackers instead of swapping them? Why not add Sturridge instead of replacing him with Salah or Coutinho? Why stick with a 433 and not add more forwards?

Alex Ferguson would have added attackers, not replaced them man for man. it's kind of toothless when you needed the win. I'd have been very disappointed with my manager, just like I'm disappointed with my manager's tactics. But you were home and you trail us by 7 points.

6.) 14 Oct 2017 16:23:23
Klopp and the team expected 3 points before the game Midge. and considering how bad they were in every department except the goal keeper we should've been more clinical and finished them off. Simple if we want to be considered top 4, we need to be taking our chances whoever the opposition is . And by the way I am a liverpool fan, don't give a damn which manchester club wins it, I just want my club to do better .

7.) 14 Oct 2017 16:30:39
As a United fan, the team who parked the bus, are you seriously asking why klopp didn't add more strikers when for the bulk of the game yours didn't leave your half? I'm assuming your profile picture is a selfie because mate you're goosed if you are using that excuse, didn't realise united saw themselves on par with Burnley et al. I know a few united fans, decent guys but you're something else fella! I can't tell if you're a troll or just low on the IQ chart.

8.) 14 Oct 2017 16:31:41
I just feel we were there for the taking and offered little in attack, so why not add attackers instead of swapping them? I can remember when SAF would have four strikers on near the end of a game when we needed the win. Just think Klopp should have went for it more. Especially considering our attack were struggling and we weren't committing anyone forward. I'd be disappointed as a Liverpool fan. I don't see why it matters about not conceding or having so much possession, that was inevitable by the way we set up. I think you guys missed a trick.

9.) 14 Oct 2017 16:38:57
Having too many strikers crowds the box and harder to find a gap. Also makes us more vulnerable to counter. Not to mention offers up the possibility of losing the battle in the middle of the field where we're dominating and offers less players to create the chances for the strikers. So like for like is usually for fresh legs.

{Ed025's Note - too many strikers but not one can hit a bulls arse with a banjo..

10.) 14 Oct 2017 16:44:44
JBLP, I'm very disappointed Jose parked the bus as I have clearly stated above. However if I was a Liverpool fan I'd question why Klopp didn't take advantage of the situation by adding more attackers to the attack. There's only one manager smiling right now mate and it's certainly not Klopp.

11.) 14 Oct 2017 16:51:05
aoe - I mean against past opposition too, this season Klopp has replaced man for man instead of pushing for that equaliser or winner by adding attackers for the last 15 minutes.

I don't think there was much danger of a counter today from us towards the end. I would have chucked extra attackers on. Add Sturridge to Countinho and Salah. Sacrifice Can or Henderson.

12.) 14 Oct 2017 16:56:13
sydney's profile pic is a selfie LOL.

13.) 14 Oct 2017 17:03:35
I agree with you Roy. after watching the game I'm disappointed to not take three points. But honestly before the game you were expecting anything more than a draw? I don't think so.

14.) 14 Oct 2017 17:39:57
Honestly Midge, I did expect 3 points because we are at home 7 points behind and their striker have bad record against us . did you not expect them to park the bus? I did a lot of us did, Klopp would've expect it as well . Never mind, on to mid week now and we should be aiming for 3 points .

15.) 14 Oct 2017 17:55:03
we were the better team, utd wanted a point by the looks of things, same old story if we were a bit more ruthless and clinical upfront might have walked away with the full 3 points. We have been poor up top for a while.

16.) 14 Oct 2017 19:23:12
Sydney, why change a formation/ system that's penned in the league leaders, getting fresh legs, slightly different skill sets up front could, should of worked, weakening the mid to add more bodies up front could of cost us the match I think it was the right call today.

17.) 14 Oct 2017 19:27:33
Fair enough Sydney. To be honest I was actually answering as a general rule to your question of supstitutions. Totally agree ed25. As I do with most of your hilarious posts. That said, de gea's save was phenomenal. (Reason he's my no 1 in galactic team) Any other keeper concedes today. We score- match changes. As it is, klopp believed what we were doing was working so he simply injected fresh legs where he could in the belief that we'd break them down. Didn't happen but that's mourinho tactics for you. Ugly but terribly effective.

18.) 14 Oct 2017 19:40:23
You lot really need to read what sydney is saying coz he is bang wright we should of went for the kill.

19.) 14 Oct 2017 20:03:30
But you didn't "Pen us in", we had no interest in attacking your goal. We parked the bus. So sacrifice a midfielder and ADD Sturridge to Coutinho and Salah in place of Can or Henderson. We only committed Lukaku and Rashford forward in the 2nd half. Just my opinion, but considering Liverpool cannot deal with parked buses, it's klopp's job to come up with solutions. The obvious one in my opinion is add more attackers. What did you have to lose? One point or three? Anyway, it's just my thoughts on where I believe Klopp is going wrong. Because many will play this way against you this season and unless Coutinho scores a 40 yard screamer every week, you need a solution.

{Ed025's Note - fair point sydney..

20.) 14 Oct 2017 21:20:05
Sydney I think you are right, but it's not like we didn't have enough chances to win the game. On another day we score one or two, I don't think it that's big a deal really. Maybe in a month when our fortunes are better we take them chances! Like I said the creativity is there, just at this time the chances aren't being converted.

21.) 14 Oct 2017 22:12:56
Midge, I guess it is early days just 8 games in, but how long do you wait before you make changes. United went a whole season struggling to convert chances last season, Liverpool cannot afford a 5th place finish or below. Be very hard attracting decent players with Coutinho money without the pull of CL football.

22.) 15 Oct 2017 08:54:42
Midge3, I cannot believe Mourinho's reasoning for not getting 3 points! He says that because Klopp did not change the midfield in the match it didn't give them an opportunity to attack. Wow i mean how ridiculous is that! You're absolutely right in saying that he is like Pulis with money!

23.) 15 Oct 2017 08:59:22
Sydney, so we place more attackers into a crowded box and then they start geting into each other's way and then we get caught out and concede on the counter. What would you say? You would be the one saying that Klopp should have just kept the point and ove on to the next game. Pls, the hindsight stuff is pointless as it adds nothing to the debate.

Klopp was smart enough to know that in big games, if you can't win the game, you should not lose it. That is what Klopp did and tho he wanted to win and on another day, we do, you hold on to the point and move on.

Utd were the fav's today and frankly, they choked and just played a Tony Pulis and moved on. That is Mou's choice BUT he should not be peeved when he is slated for playing stoneage footie. The only improvement I see from this game in comparison to last season's game is that we created more chances BUT again, did not take them. On to Spurs.

23 Sep 2017 09:26:38
Question for anyone with the knowledge. Why is it that in England (the home of the premier league) we can only watch half the matches played. Yet in Europe channels like beINsports, and in the states channels like NBCSports have license to show all premier league games? Surely Skysports and BT Sport have the power to do the same.

Midge3

{Ed002's Note - No, they have no power to show live matches at the traditional kick off time of 1500. Clubs don't want that changed.}

1.) 23 Sep 2017 10:29:47
Same as we can get all nfl games for like 112 pound. No chance of us impacting attendances.

If 3pm kick offs where televised would you bother going the game for Liverpool vs hull?

2.) 23 Sep 2017 11:44:16
Top

If you are a liverpool fan and has tickets with you! You go to the liverpool game! Simple as that!

3.) 23 Sep 2017 11:49:17
I wouldn't mind an LFC channel that played all our matches but an hour or so later. Would save trying to find a decent site that's showing it.

4.) 23 Sep 2017 11:49:59
What? 😂 of course I'd bother going. What kind of a question is that?

If that is the genuine reason for the 3pm kick offs not being televised it is absolutely ridiculous. By that logic, we'll be playing Leicester in a half empty stadium tonight. Because why would you go to Leicester vs Liverpool if it's on BT?

I highly doubt that is the reason, and if it is, the Premier League clubs are just shafting their supporters YET AGAIN for (a completely irrational) fear of losing a few extra quid.

Not having a go at you TB, but i sincerely hope the clubs have a much better reason for not wanting the 3pm games televised than the fact that the fans who can't afford to or couldn't get tickets to go to the game, would get to enjoy watching the sport they are funding. That would be a disgusting revelation in my opinion.

{Ed001's Note - it is the reason, but not because of Prem teams, it is the lower league teams that would lose attendances.}

5.) 23 Sep 2017 12:09:24
I hadn't considered that actually Ed. I suppose for a lower league club, whose fans probably all have a favourite Premier League team as well, it could potentially be harmful. I still think it is an irrational fear though. And if it did prove to be an issue, the premier League could always filter some of its astronomical cash flow down into the lower divisions to make up for the few hundred pounds they might lose on gate receipts!

Our (the fans) money pays for this entire industry and they are withholding a part of the product, to protect their own cash. I find that morally wrong but perhaps I'm just over reacting. For people like me though who don't have a Premier league club within 70 miles of where i live it is just a bit gutting there is no football at 3pm on a Saturday. If it is the small clubs who are worried, why not show one of the 3pm games from the football league? I'd rather watch Bradford vs Colchester than Jeremy Kyle!

I think the fans are being robbed a bit now i know the reason behind this decision.

{Ed001's Note - they know it is harmful as they lose gate when the local big team is at home anyway.}

6.) 23 Sep 2017 12:16:28
I'm really angry about this now 😂 at 3 o'clock when i have to sit and listen to Jeff Stelling, Matt Le Tissier and Phil Thompson commentating poorly on the games around the grounds, i will just be burning up inside knowing that i could be watching Burnley and Huddersfield draw 0-0 😂.

{Ed001's Note - don't worry mate, just be thankful I get to watch them all.....}

7.) 23 Sep 2017 12:50:09
Git! Take me to Dubai with you!

{Ed001's Note - I can't rent you my spare room for a small fee....}

8.) 23 Sep 2017 13:13:05
Just share the bed with him Ed01 😉.

{Ed001's Note - he would have to buy me dinner and take me to a movie at least first!}

9.) 23 Sep 2017 13:35:01
If LFCTV did that Mikey I’d even take out a subscription to the channel. I can’t see any reason why they couldn’t.

10.) 23 Sep 2017 13:27:00
The Football League have just signed a deal where all midweek games are to be shown live on the individual teams websites, is that correct? That is great for fans who can't travel due to work commitments, however they are not showing weekend games. This is to protect attendances. I would assume they are getting subsidised for losing maybe a few hundred seats during the week but care not so much when they are getting paid for it.
The problem is that midweek games in the Premier League are shown on tv, but by different providers. We'd lose more money from tv deals from sky, bt etc than we would gain by streaming our own matches. A bit of extra traffic, maybe subscription fees. I'd be interested though. Paying one subscription for my sport would be better.

{Ed002's Note - Yes, Sky will be streaming football league games for clubs - obviously this is nothing to do with Liverpool at this time.}

11.) 23 Sep 2017 13:30:11
Of course I'd go.
The live match experience is infinitely better than watching on TV. That will never change 🤝.

12.) 23 Sep 2017 13:57:21
Ed I'll take you to watch 50 shades of red 😉.

{Ed001's Note - is that a real thing? Actually I probably don't want to know what it is thinking about it!}

13.) 23 Sep 2017 14:17:13
I hope it isn't a real thing. I dare not google it though 😂.

{Ed001's Note - I will let Harry do the googling.}

14.) 23 Sep 2017 17:18:16
You all are invited to the states to watch all the games, NBCSN and NBC televise them all. I pay for a higher DirecTV subscription to watch LFC. Out of curiosity does anyone know how much NBC pays for the rights to broadcast the Prem?

{Ed002's Note - It is on a sliding scale and the NBC contract cannot be compared to other broadcasters as it is a six year deal rather than a three year deal. In total the amount is $940M and change.}

I think your all to quick to blame Karius! Yes he made a complete hash of the 4 th goal, but the rest I wouldn't of expected him to save. The second was low and I'm the corner I don't think your apreciating how hard it is to get down that quick, the third, matey on there team had time to control it and get a shot away! Poor defending in my opinion. I think our problem with conceding is our defensive structure! It's all well and good pressing high up the pitch but once they have possession in our half we should adapt a more organised defensive structure. If you watch the other top teams when defending even against the small teams they are well organised and drilled.

Anybody else seen his positioning while we are on the attack? It's rather exciting yet nervy at the same time. He's always no more than 15 yards behind the cbs, really compliments how intense our pressing game really is.

Ak, but var is there to eradicate human error. For me it needs to review everything or nothing, I know they can’t review every decision as the game would become slow, boring and just unbearable. But why have it if a human error can then lead to a completely fair goal. One instance that comes to mind, Chelsea vs Derby (I believe) in the cup, derby should of had a free kick in the corner but instead Chelsea got a throwing (which actually came of a Chelsea man) straight from the throw the balls whipped in and they score. Nothing wrong with the goal except to two wrong decisions leading up to it. Var gives the goal because they can’t review the previous errors.
