edd anyone shown any interest in izzaguire from celtic. I know it will be met with . " he plays in crap scottish lge etc etc"by folk on here. but the fella is a very good lb, doing it against barca and away to milan and a few other occassions in d champs lge, bombs forward and whips a gr8 ball in, can mix in short passes and could adapt to Liverpools game, just wondered if anyone shown any interest {Ed002's Note - There was talk of Manchester United last year but it was unconfirmed tittle-tattle. Since then nothing.}

edd hansen reckons suarez will sign new deal this week. u heard anything on that? {Ed002's Note - Suarez has let a little information out via a "friend" to say the he will stay against his will one more year and then he will leave regardless. This sort of situation cannot be allowed to carry on but I think it will become more difficult to find a buyer with this sort of leakage of information to the media. We'll see.}

hi edds. just a query. with all the likes of arsenal and utd even us looking for creative midfielders . how come there seems to be little interset in banega? think sthampton wanted him. {Ed002's Note - Southampton and Fiorentina have placed bids for Banega and Inter Milan's long-term interest may still remain.}

Let me start by saying that I am thrilled with the start we have had. The transfer window was the best in a very long time.
Having watched the last two games against Chelsea, the gap in quality in midfield is vast. We all know what Kante is about, but Harry’s favourite player is immense also. For me they have the best midfield in the league. That said, we still have £60m worth of new midfielders that are yet to find form. I still think we will finish above Chelsea in the league, but if/ when they add a world class striker to the team, they are going to take some stopping.
More of a admiration post than knocking our players, but credit were credit is due.

5 GOLD STARS

1.) 30 Sep 2018 20:59:03
Chelsea have a great team and will be tough to beat this season. But I think Europa league will hinder them a bit and we will comfortably finish above them. It's us and city fighting for title imo.

2.) 30 Sep 2018 21:06:31
Kovacic is on loan for a season though isn’t he?
Then there’s whether Hazard moves on next Summer.
The striker situation is a real problem that they haven’t resolved as yet.
They seem overly-reliant on Hazard too, so their future activity in the next two transfer windows is absolutely crucial.

3.) 30 Sep 2018 21:07:15
After the game yesterday city are challengers for me

If they keep close enough and buy a striker in Jan that is.

4.) 30 Sep 2018 21:28:09
I’m not worried for this season, or future tbh, just like the way that they move the ball around. They looked very comfortable when we was pressing, more so than any other team I have seen us play against. The final ball was a level higher than us also, and I think that’s an area we could work on.
Things are definitely on the up for us and I can only see us improving as the season goes on.

5.) 30 Sep 2018 22:09:50
OP, you have to take the game in context. Chelsea were playing at home so Klopp picked a midfield to more or less contain them in midfield, press them then launch attacks of the press when we win the ball. Of course, any midfield would be a bit disjointed when you have Wiji ho was so poor that it was irritating. In the Cup game, the midfield was makeshift with Fab getting his debut hence, the press was not in full view. That changed in the second half when adjustments were made and Fabregas had no time on the ball anymore as Keita was on top of him. As for last night and Had Klopp wanted to go after Chelsea, Keita would have started, for sure. We needed to chase the game so Keita came on and took the fight to them in midfield cos well, things changed due to us being behind. As a result, I don't think the gulf in class is that vast. It is only a case of horses for courses based on what Klopp wanted to achieve in the game. Context is needed, my friend.

6.) 30 Sep 2018 22:25:17
I thought we matched them quite well in midfield tbh. Jorginho set a new passing record didn’t he against West Ham? He wasn’t even in the top 5 passers in this game. Tells you a telling story.
Their best passer on the day was Luiz. Plus, other than the goal their best chances came when they played back to front over the top, missing out the midfield.
They have talented footballers in midfield don’t get me wrong but I’m certainly not envious.
As for them being challengers, of course they are. They won the league in 2017 with pretty much the same players and they’ve added to it. They get a worldy striker in and they’ll nearly be as good as us ;-)

7.) 30 Sep 2018 22:35:59
Kovacic is an improvement on most of our midfielders, the guy is just class, the more I watch him the more like him. Kante is an improvement on any midfielder, world class! Fab and Naby haven’t hit the ground running but they was brought in to improve our midfield, the only improvement they have made to our midfield at the moment (other than one great debut) is they have made the other guys raise there game. I think they will both be first team players very soon and we will see why Klopp fetched them in, the signs are good already.
God, you have me sounding negative towards our team and that really wasn’t my intention, just was giving praise to others.

8.) 30 Sep 2018 22:46:53
Chelsea have a dodgy defence and are over reliant on Hazzard. They could struggle to get enough goals

They will be top four but could easily slip away as the season goes on as they don’t have big squad depth.

We have had the more difficult fixtures so far when you look at what Chelsea and Citeh have had.

You can see what Koop is doing. If we can keep clear of bad injuries we will be right in the mix.

9.) 30 Sep 2018 22:49:48
Chelsea have the best midfield in the league and I said it the moment they signed both Jorginho and Kovacic🙌. Closely followed by City who are sitting at the top just like last year without KDB. We are 3rd or 4th depends up on how we could play kieta ( the only CM worthy imo ) .
We should have gotten Fekir. Big miss imo. We don’t have that creative spark in the middle which is why we rely heavily on Firmino to drop into the middle despite of playing 3 CM in addition!

10.) 30 Sep 2018 23:26:18
It all depends on how you play Harry. Most teams need more creative players in midfield as they don’t have the front 3 we have.
The three we played in midfield yesterday are excellent at unsettling the opposition allowing us to turn over possession and get it up to the front 3 quickly so they can do their damage.
I think Keita will come into his own against the lower teams as he can break the lines with his direct running. Don’t forget we also have Ox to come back in too (whenever that might be) .
We’re in good shape.

11.) 01 Oct 2018 00:31:34
For all of Chelsea’s supposed midfield quality they are still overly reliant on one player, Hazard, stop him and you stop Chelsea, they have no one else that worries me.

12.) 01 Oct 2018 09:28:48
Ed1 is there any chance you could add Chelsea's Willian to the player profiles list please mate?

{Ed001's Note - added.}

13.) 01 Oct 2018 09:38:54
Thank you very much Ed mate.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Thinking that Shaqiri might get a run out today, maybe just behind the front 3. Would give us some extra fire power.

5 GOLD STARS

1.) 24 Aug 2018 08:43:46
But will he play tomorrow - that is the question? I would like to see him and Fabinho replace Milner and Wijnaldum but not Clyne to replace TAA!

2.) 24 Aug 2018 08:53:05
I’d be interested to see if Shaqiri can play ten, sit fabinho/ hendo in front of the back four, and Keita a little deeper.
I know Brighton just beat united, but they will sit deep at Anfield so we need all the chances we can to break them down.

3.) 24 Aug 2018 11:11:01
I would not change the starting 11 that has done well in the first two games.

4.) 24 Aug 2018 13:19:15
I'd definitely consider starting the club captain in place of Gini. Keita and Milner stay for me. Then depending on the game situation, I'd be looking to get Shaqiri, Sturridge and Fabinho on the pitch in the 2nd half.

01 Jul 2018 16:58:27
Money aside, would you rather start the season with Fekir or Alisson in the side?

5 GOLD STARS

1.) 01 Jul 2018 17:15:58
Allison, no doubt.

If I could choose between allison or asensio I would choose asensio.

Good question though, more than half our games last season we could have won with bogan in goal.

2.) 01 Jul 2018 17:25:02
I’m not that sold on Asensio at the price quoted. You’d get Fekir and Becker for that kind of money.

3.) 01 Jul 2018 17:57:22
That's true frankly, I'd take fekir and becket over asensio.

4.) 01 Jul 2018 18:18:07
And have change as well.

5.) 01 Jul 2018 19:26:34
Is becker that good? Serious question I don't watch that much football but I've watched him a few times now and I can't see what the fuss is.

I'd send the money on courtios if he does leave Chelsea.

6.) 01 Jul 2018 19:49:11
Courtois wants to return to Spain. He has zero interest in moving here.

7.) 01 Jul 2018 20:12:28
Great question, Alisson for those curious is currently one of the best goal keepers in the world. At 25 years of age (young for a keeper) he would improve most teams and drastically improve Liverpool. Some will judge him only on the Roma Vs Liverpool games (though he was hardly at fault for the goals) and his world cup performances, which in my eyes is a mistake. Look at De Gea. Not sure how realistic a transfer it is at the minute, but still.

Fekir is a fantastic talent, who's definitely ready for the next step. He's primarily a CAM/ Second striker who can adequately cover the wings (though he's much less effective there) . He suits our style of play and would improve the team.

With the way our defence has looked as well as the arrival of Keita and Fabinho, I'm going to have to pick Fekir. A top class keeper would be welcomed, but top teams can often get away with average keepers. Look at City with Joe Hart or Madrid with Casillas. Van Dijk has been a fantastic addition and Lovren has improved drastically with him next to him, Keita and Fabinho add steel to the midfield. Assuming Karius can adequately recover from the appalling fan reaction we'll be tough to score against. Fekir would help break defensive teams down, which for me personally, is what's missing from a title challenge.

Apologies for the absurdly long post.

8.) 01 Jul 2018 20:14:09
Also I've seen his name thrown out a couple of times, but Courtois is not an option. He is looking to move to a Madrid club in order to be with his family, not just a move from Chelsea. He's only relevant in terms of the knock on effect his transfer might have.

9.) 01 Jul 2018 20:31:21
He would drastically improve Liverpool?
Can he cover midfield and attacking positions too?
He would undoubtedly make us a stronger unit at the back, but to claim we'd improve drastically is over-egging it.

10.) 01 Jul 2018 20:45:02
Guilty of hyperbole, meant that he was a drastic improvement on what we had. Hope my other points and conclusion demonstrated how I think he would impact the team overall and my views on the keeper position.

05 Jun 2018 19:00:28
Am I the only one who thinks that Fabinho will play RB next season? Most posts on here suggest that he will play in a holding role next season, with Keita and potentially Fekir alongside him. That would be awesome, don’t get me wrong, but We have an abundance of CMs on the books already and really can’t see Klopp benching them or selling them all after a great season, although I think some will/ have moved on.
Ed001 has said that we have been looking for a RB for a few seasons now and I can’t imagine us going out and buying one now with the other positions that we need to improve. This brings me on a question.
Has anyone seen him play at RB enough to give an opinion on how good he is there? MK speaks highly of him and that I respect, but he was referring to him playing in midfield I think, and all the clips I have watched are him playing midfield also. Anyway, any input welcome guys and can’t wait to see him play regardless of position.

1.) 05 Jun 2018 19:26:07
I don’t think he’s been bought for right back primarily and, by all accounts, the player now sees himself as a midfield player. However, he may get games there, depending on the form of TAA and Gomez (I don’t think Clyne will figure unless he upset his game massively in pre-season.

Klopp has seen his current midfield press and press until they tire late on or can’t do it from game to game. He will rotate midfield players depending on tactics, form, opposition or injuries. Don’t forget the Ox will probably miss 3 months and others will come back late to training after the World Cup. I can see us making a heavy play for the League Cup this year in order to get some silverware on the table early and take a bit of pressure off Klopp. To do this he will need to be able to bring quality players when he rests others.

In my opinion Fabinho has been bought for midfield.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 19:13:00
Personally as per Ed001, think he will play cm and provide cover at RB should the team require it.

That’s gives us Trent to keep learning at RB before he eventually moves in to midfield, Gomez as cover if required and Fabinho as emergency cover as and when.

As for our midfield, Can is gone, Lallana may look for more first team football with youth as cover.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 20:22:50
I don't think Fab will be playing at RB except if need be or something. He is a DM who can score goals, defend and bring the ball out. That is the position he has been playing DM for 2 years npw since he was moved there by Monaco manager Jardim. If he would play RB, it should be for emergency purposes and nothing more, IMO.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 20:29:35
Interesting reading the thoughts on the midfield area and potential starters next season, if the reported signing of Fekir does come to fruition, adding to our 2 new arrivals
And current personnel we will for once have a deeper squad, be nice to have quality on the bench as well as in the starting 11. I personally feel that this is why we limped to 4th and lost the final, we just did not have enough left in the tank with injuries to the Ox
And Can . Madrid in the final could call upon a 100 million pound substitute!
Can't wait for the new season!

5.) 05 Jun 2018 20:45:43
And you want to bench TAA? Really? Who are the abundance of midfielders referring to here? They are not good enough why we are signing midfielders! Fabinho will play the sitting role.

6.) 05 Jun 2018 20:45:43
And you want to bench TAA? Really? Who are the abundance of midfielders referring to here? They are not good enough why we are signing midfielders! Fabinho will play the sitting role.

7.) 05 Jun 2018 20:59:15
I think one of the eds already mentioned, but I can see Fabinho covering TAA when he goes foward and vice versus, creating another element of confusion for the opposition. Could work well but I expect his ‘starting’ position, if you want to call it that being centrally.

8.) 06 Jun 2018 02:41:11
I think Klopp with introduce players slowly so we may start the season with a midfield of Hendo, Keita and Milner.

Longer term I hope we go to Fabinho and Hendo deep, Mane, Keita and Salah behind Bobby in a 4-2-3-1.

9.) 06 Jun 2018 03:37:14
Harry, I didn’t say that I wanted TAA on the bench. I would be more than happy letting him and Gomez rotate at RB, to be honest I think it will be the only way that either of them will get regular match time next season. It’s been covered on here multiple times that Klopp doesn’t see either of them as the long term solution to RB and their futures will be in other positions. He has been actively looking to bring in a RB for two years now and I can’t see him buying one now with other positions being a higher priority.
The midfielders who I was referring to are the OX, a Klopp buy only last year and has done quite well in his first half season for us. Gini, who also has done quite well and hasn’t been here very long either. And our club captain, who again has had a good season. You can probably add Milner to this list also, who arguably was our best midfielder in the CL last season, breaking records as he went.

I suspect the wife has paid for one of these dinner night things with Ruddock for my birthday, as it’s on in a pub close by and falls on my birthday. Might be putting 2+2 and getting 5, but don’t think so.
Does anyone know any stories that I can bring up that might make him squirm a little?
