{Ed001's Note - last I heard they were going to decide in the new year.}

Thanks for your reply. Surely if kerkez does not settle in, they will make an offer.
05 Nov 2025 17:03:52
Kerkez will end up a good signing, hasn't been great so far but also think he's struggled at what way he's beebn asked to play. Fair play to Robbo too, been good since he got back in the side.
05 Nov 2025 17:10:51
Cant disagree with the assessment of Robbos form since he got back in. He did get lucky a couple of times last night, but we were due some good luck. Maybe the competition has focussed Robbo.
YNWA boo.
05 Nov 2025 19:36:22
I'd like to see Robbo stay, hopefully for a couple of years. Important influence/ leader both for the team in general and coaching Kerkez through being less kamikaze when playing as part of a 4 rather than a 5.
06 Nov 2025 03:50:48
Robbo’s playing better but he is about half a step / half a second off were he was when he was at his best - he is still a very good player but he struggles (and will increasingly struggle) against the very best players attacking him.
Not a criticism of the man or player - great motivator, genuine fella, and heart of a lion but he’s only a short term solution now, as far as the starting 11 goes.
06 Nov 2025 07:07:46
I think robbo has benefited from actually being out of the team for a while. Bar 1st 3r4 months after he signed he has played almost non stop for us, he hasn't had too many injuries, and the break both mentally and physically done him world of good imo.
06 Nov 2025 07:29:49
Robbo is a fantastic asset to the club
Love the bloke, you need his attitude.
Apparently Bradley has asked for the number 7 shirt, of course I did my due diligence and found out he asked for the Madrid #7 and wanted to sign it. that's a lovely gesture.
06 Nov 2025 09:00:54
I think that the whole Kerkez/ Robbo situation is showing exactly why Klopp used to sign players and then we would not see them for a couple of months properly.
The likes of Robbo and Fabs etc came in and worked hard on the training ground to learn the system and get an understanding of what was being expected from them/ building a relationship/ understanding with those players around them.
Unfortunately players have been signed for Slot and thrown in at the deep end straight away. Personal opinion that is why it has worked when we have gone back to the proven first team and are starting to blend more of the new signings in a bit. It must be hard for all involved. Kerkez is most definitely the future at LB but for now he needs the time to learn from Robbo, learn what Virg needs and when the right time is to bomb on and do what he does so well.
06 Nov 2025 10:46:24
Robbo needs to stay to help Kerkez develop and he's a leader in the group. I have faith that Kerkez will improve and eventually match Robbo.
06 Nov 2025 11:48:57
Kerkez is a young lad who has just moved to a big club, he’ll get there. Having Robertson around will only help him settle and develop. Kerkez was signed for 6 years, not 6 months. The good thing is that the competition has kicked Robertson up the arse too and he’s playing well again.
06 Nov 2025 14:06:35
RedQ that’s a bit of a myth about Klopp bedding players in first before playing them. He did do that with Robbo and Fabs but other than those 2 pretty much everyone else who was bought for the first team went straight into the first 11.
Apart from Ben Davies who was bedded in for 2 years so he could go straight into Rangers first team.
06 Nov 2025 15:21:54
Apologies Robbo
Maybe the case was players who were facing a significant change in playing responsibilities were identified and given the time to adjust and learn their roles before playing a full 90 week in week out.
I feel that is the problem with the likes of Kerkez and Frimpong. Brilliant players, they just need that little bit of tactical fine tuning to get them where we as a team need them rather than what they have caught the eye doing.
Wirtz is the anomaly, he just needs to be played in his preferred position and be given the freedom to affect the game. Personal opinion only of course. He played off the left on Tuesday but appeared everywhere .
07 Nov 2025 02:57:32
How did the bedding in of Naby, Ben D, and Arthur (amongst others) go. ??
I don’t think it is specifically a manager 5hinks - there is always a risk that any player signed might not ‘fit in’.
05 Nov 2025 00:45:36
Hello All,
What an incredible turnaround!?
Slot has reverted to what works which is noble to see, getting back to winning way is all that matters.
The big wigs will always make a change if needed and Slot will adapt which is fantastic to see.
I think Vik spoke about contracts. I'm wary of Szobo and Grav but not the rest.
Hopefully we stay on the right way . I remain of an opinion Slot isn't long term.
My best of love to you all.
Ta.

Thx Carra.
05 Nov 2025 04:43:18
Cheers Carra. In regards to Szoboszlai and Grav being wary about do you mean in good way or bad way?
05 Nov 2025 05:29:04
Always good to hear from you Carra.
If we may. Any news on Marc Guehi. Do you know if he’s still wanting to come to us?
05 Nov 2025 07:31:44
Thanks Carra.
I think he means “aware of” rather than “wary of”.
05 Nov 2025 07:38:29
Thanks Carra as always. He said wary which I would take to mean that they're the only one's he's concerned about not signing a new deal?
Hopefully I'm wrong, as they're two players we should desperately do all we can to tie down to new deals if possible.
05 Nov 2025 07:48:11
The players are just coming into form. Salah couldn’t trap a bag of sand a few weeks ago. Macca couldn’t move and Robbo and Bradley lacked match fitness. Once the players were fully fit we were always going to be ok.
Slot will win a major trophy again this year so I expect him to stay a few years yet.
05 Nov 2025 09:26:05
Sorry yes, aware not wary, the 0% lagers got to my head a little.
Ta.
05 Nov 2025 10:08:25
You're entitled to a few sherbets after last night mate ??.
05 Nov 2025 10:09:55
I wouldn't trust them 0% lagers carra.!
05 Nov 2025 14:37:58
Thanks Carra.
Been great to see Slot recognise what needed to change (2 / 3 games late, but no-one’s perfect) . Long may it continue.
05 Nov 2025 15:07:23
Is Slot not seen as long-term due to style of play? And is Hughes' relationship with Iraola another factor?
05 Nov 2025 16:17:54
I’m glad that common sense took over and Slot went back to basics. The win against Villa was a good performance as was last night against a very strong Madrid side, playing like that we can pick up three points against City.
05 Nov 2025 16:25:53
Thanks as always Carra!
05 Nov 2025 18:09:23
Hi Carra
Thanks for all your posts.
I wanted to ask why Slot is not seen as a long term option? We as a club generally are known for looking for mid to long term managers so why the shift and is this something Hughes/ Edwards saw as a short term appointment or were there things they are only just realising now about Slot?
06 Nov 2025 00:47:49
Thanks Carra.
04 Nov 2025 13:57:40
Sorry for a lack of news, been up the wall lately. But here’s some info I’ve been drip fed over the last few weeks if it’s of any interest.
Szoboszlai is negotiating a new contract with the club. Everything seems to be smooth and heading in the right direction and the player is very happy where he is.
The same applies to Gravenberch. His contract negotiations have stalled a tad but all parties are confident an extension will be agreed.
Wataru Endo is also set to be approached regarding a new deal.
MacAllister to Madrid is one to keep an eye on. Madrid view him as a potential Tony Kroos replacement and the lads open to it. Arne Slot would be quite unhappy to lose him but he understands this is the industry we’re in.
Lastly, don’t count Konate staying at the club out just yet. He’s still more likely than not to leave, but the door isn’t FULLY closed.

04 Nov 2025 14:19:07
Cheers Vic
Szoboszlai - good news
Gravenberch - good news
Wataru Endo - would want more game before signing, I know you can't guarantee it - maybe get if Macallister was too leave then there is Jones to contend with.
Konate - would like him to stay as he is a good player.
04 Nov 2025 14:20:19
Liverpool are certainly taking their Japanese sponsorship deals very seriously if that's the case. I wouldn't be surprised to see John Henry as a guest character in Smash Bros at this rate.
04 Nov 2025 14:22:19
I find the Endo one suprising, to see Grav and Szob extend would be fantastic.
04 Nov 2025 15:04:07
Endo I imagine is a great guy to have behind the scenes, mature, respected and gives his all, can also be emergency defence cover, maybe he’ll start coaching badges if he hasn’t already.
04 Nov 2025 19:23:10
Sobo ? Our MVP right now.
Gravy ? He makes everyone better — genuinely unbelievable impact.
Endo ? With him we can close games safely. Love this guy.
Maca ? We need him. Don’t let him go anywhere!
Konaté ? Good servant. If he stays, great — if not, we move on and upgrade.
04 Nov 2025 19:48:59
Depends how Slot wants to play. I can see us being fine w Mac leaving and bringing in a 6 to allow Grav and Dom to play 8. Jones can play 6/ 8. Grav and Dom love them to extend.
Konate same as Macca for me. Happy to keep happy to replace.
Thanks for the update VG.
04 Nov 2025 22:16:04
Is it safe to say now that the mob have returned their pitchforks to the barn and Slot can unpack his bags again as he will be staying? It’s just that as way, way, far back as 4 days ago a sizeable portion of the contributors on this board were into a debate about who our next manager was going to be.
05 Nov 2025 00:58:35
Have to admit for the sake of my sanity I took a break from the site for a few days.
One thing we are overlooking wrt Maccas contract, is if he goes we lose Le reclutador ;-)
03 Nov 2025 14:00:35
I see that an unnamed PL player in his 20s has been threatened at gun point by an agent! Hope they are coping ok whoever they are.
I always thought agents ran around acting like some kind of mafia boss trying to engineer moves to earn themselves big paydays without considering the best interests of the player or clubs involved but this is ridiculous. Hopefully it triggers some kind of review.

03 Nov 2025 15:17:54
Ah, so now I see what Arne Slot's convincing plan was to bring Wirtz to Liverpool. Unique as negotiations go, but clearly worked.
Jokes aside, a lot of people saying that the player in question is Morgan Gibbs White, but a lot of the facts don't track for that to be the case. The incident happened in September, however MGW had already signed his contract before then to stay at Nottingham Forest. So very unlikely to be him.
Apparently the agent also did this to a second player, but his league, etc, has not been confirmed. Hopefully really consequences come from this, as I have no doubts that agents have used leverage (Perhaps even unlawful) to force their clients to make decision to the detriment, in the name of filling the agents pockets. Some agents run their business like are the mafia, and their influence should have been curbed by the FA, but we know how weak and spineless they are.
03 Nov 2025 15:21:51
I imagine the Agents operating license will be taken away if true.
03 Nov 2025 15:36:38
Hope it triggers a review too.
03 Nov 2025 16:10:58
The agent should get the bullet.
03 Nov 2025 20:12:50
It’s bang out of order that.
03 Nov 2025 20:55:36
This should not be used as the butt of some jokes.
03 Nov 2025 21:01:15
Who knew that agents were morally vacuous vermin.
03 Nov 2025 21:08:25
I’m a scouser we laugh at everything but this Shouldn’t be joked about full stop, think you’re are divies for trying to make light of it. It could really affect the kid may even end up with ptsd or the likes. Sad la.
03 Nov 2025 21:41:28
You’re right Scouse, it’s a very serious situation. Hope the player is OK and not the target of any future attacks.
03 Nov 2025 22:45:20
Need to get shot of these jokes, lads.
04 Nov 2025 06:45:50
Wow, some reason people are getting triggered by other posters making jokes. There's nothing funny about being a target and being in the line of fire. I heard the young man was great at Shooting and refused to get out of town and the agent was from Pinkertons. That what happens when you deal with cowboys.
04 Nov 2025 07:25:52
Scouse John L8 what has you being a Scouser got to do with anything?
04 Nov 2025 07:29:04
Just hope his agent wasn't 'el pistolero'.
04 Nov 2025 09:32:49
Thought they would’ve fired him.
04 Nov 2025 10:01:30
Scouse John L8 is right. These jokes are terrible and really uncalled for.
Imagine putting one of your loved ones in this situation, I know everyone thinks footballers are not human and have no feelings but they are kids.
We all know Scouse humour is world class on its day and it has helped so many people through so much hardship, this isn't one of those occasions. To make light of this in my opinion is unhelpful but you also have your own opinions which you have shown with your posts.
This is a time to show disgust in a unruly mob who thinks it is ok to scare kids into signing for a club just to get more commission for themselves.
04 Nov 2025 11:44:26
The jokes were puns about guns- gun puns, if you like it- rather than the incident.
Maybe they were in bad taste but no worse than Scousers laughing at everything, surely.
04 Nov 2025 15:01:23
U gun and done it now Rigsby, what will Miss Jones think.
04 Nov 2025 20:51:38
Maybe he told his agent to "just always be honest and shoot me straight" and said agent took it the wrong way.
All in good fun I'd say Rigsby. We have to have a laugh from time to time.
Thankfully the lad was unhurt at least physically.
04 Nov 2025 22:17:57
Humour being used to relieve stress and shock. I’m sure there would not have been jokes if the outcome of the situation had been different.
I liked the ‘gun puns’ and @Frode’s was my fave.
04 Nov 2025 23:13:55
Athletic reporting it was Destonie Udogie and his agent.
05 Nov 2025 01:51:06
WDW for sure. Hopefully the agent will be receiving blank checks from here on out.
05 Nov 2025 04:18:01
I thought the point of a joke was to be funny? Or at least witty? Don’t give up your day job.
05 Nov 2025 10:29:31
They can consider themselves shot down @StE eh?
05 Nov 2025 14:09:03
We really should have thought about the player, Udogie, and his family.
Can you imagine being Destiny's Child?
03 Nov 2025 07:03:11
Ed001,
Dont know if you answered this but. do you reckon we'll get Guehi i jan/ next summer? Were in need of a cb and he was so close to joining. or is the race for Guehi wide open?
Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - I still expect him to join us.}
Agree2
Disagree12
03 Nov 2025 12:14:16
Assuming Palace go deep into Conference League competition, Guehi will have to wait until the summer. It's also financially in his favour too.
I would still move for another CB in January regardless as Leoni is likely to be out for a year or more. I will keep beating the Joel Ordonez drum :)
03 Nov 2025 12:37:08
I'm with you too FPF. Seems like Guehi would be the Konate replacement so ideally I'd also prefer to have one more in, especially since Gomez can't be relied on for his fitness, Leoni is recovering from a bad injury, and Vvd isn't getting any younger.
03 Nov 2025 13:42:01
We've moved on, not happening now.
04 Nov 2025 14:21:05
Hardy
Who have we moved on to?
04 Nov 2025 17:45:52
We're not resting on our Laurels, eh, Hardy?
04 Nov 2025 19:09:45
Love it Rigsby ?.
07 Nov 2025 03:46:18
Nice one Rigsby. @Hardy, where’s your source for us moving on?
02 Nov 2025 15:58:10
Just reading that IFAB will be discussing time restrictions on throw ins and goal kicks in January. Like any changes, implementation needs to be consistent.
Agree10
Disagree0
02 Nov 2025 17:34:03
About time. the stupid idiots in charge want to clamp down on time wasting. so they decide to penalize goalkeepers by only allowing them 8 seconds to hold the ball, which is a law that was already in place.
Teams make time wasting so obvious during goal kicks, corners, free kicks, throw ins, subs, etc. yet the officials choose to turn a blind eye
Like you said EM. let's hope they implement any changes consistently. Although we all know the refs are only consistent at. one thing. inconsistency.
02 Nov 2025 18:07:35
Just introduce effective time, there’ll be no time wasting.
02 Nov 2025 18:16:11
Would effective time be stopping the clock? Not a fan games will last 3 hours like American games. Just need to enforce common sense protocols like they have done w keepers. And no more towels to dry the ball.
Clear advantage. Yellow cards will work wonders to prevent time wasting and diving. Just need to be enforced and consistently. Not holding my breath on common sense coming back into the game.
02 Nov 2025 18:33:49
Red flyer that's how it works in rugby league mate. 80 minute match.
02 Nov 2025 18:42:52
I'm a big rugby league fan grew up playing it Ashy. Have to say living in the states I don't watch much of it anymore so can't speak for how they run the clock.
League is a much more honest game tho when it comes to time wasting and play acting; if they were like footballers half of them would be on the ground at any given moment.
02 Nov 2025 20:59:37
The only club that has never, ever resorted to rime wasting is Liverpool eh?
{Ed025's Note - it seems that way WDW.. :)
02 Nov 2025 21:11:39
If they do that then I fear it just shifts the problem somewhere else. Like players pretending they are injured a lot more.
02 Nov 2025 21:58:42
Get the player of the pitch and don’t let him back on until a minute has past for each 10 seconds he was holding up play.
{Ed025's Note - have a sniper on the gantry and shoot them..
02 Nov 2025 22:03:25
make it like basketball, 5 seconds to get the ball back in play. The other thing I'd change, and admittedly a bit controversial is that if a player is so hurt that medical staff have to come onto the pitch, then the player shouldn't be able to continue playing. playacting would stop.
02 Nov 2025 22:57:47
Use effective time of 60 min matches (the current average time the ball is in play is 55 mins) . If the game reaches 100 mins without the ball being in play for 60 mins then the team who has time wasted the most time (in possession when the clock is stopped, for a throw in, goal kick etc) loses the game.
This would shorten the overall time the match takes (currently over 100 mins) whilst increasing the time the ball is in play. Simples! ?.
02 Nov 2025 23:09:16
Maybe Stone, but then that penalises players who actually are injured. In the MLS they have a rule that if the medical staff need to come on then that player has to leave the field for 30 secs.
So a team only needs to foul the opposition badly and they get to play against 10 men. I get the intention but it seems like a badly thought out rule to me.
02 Nov 2025 23:10:20
I would LOVE to see retrospective bans for diving or holding of the face when no contact with the face was made. It’s easy to see on replay.
03 Nov 2025 00:11:25
Just do the Rugby thing of effective time with the first out of play incident after 90 minutes being the final whistle. Seems ridiculous introducing all these rules and regs and likely training around consistencies around time wasting when there's a tried and tested solution just staring everyone in the face.
03 Nov 2025 00:11:40
I always think we need some sort of gentlemans' agreement "hey we won't do it if you don't" but that would require what's now sorely missed in the game. sportsmanship.
03 Nov 2025 00:49:15
Speaking of Rugby, football needs ‘a sin bin’ for dissent and simulation.
5 mins first offence. Doubles every subsequent offence. 4 offences = red card.
Whilst I’m on a roll, VAR should be on appeal only. Managers get 1 wrong appeal per half and after 80 mins the each have 1 wrong appeal left. If you want VAR to intervene, you have to describe what you think the error is.
03 Nov 2025 05:25:50
@25, I’ve often thought that about people going through a red light. Have a police sniper shoot one of the so-and-sos and it would send a clear message ?.
Looks likely that I’ll be back in Liverpool late next year. It’d be fun to meet up for a pint @25 and I’ll tell you a similar story from 1981 about a Russian policeman sorting out a pedestrian (an American woman) for transgressing some rule that none of us knew in Red Square. It straightened the rest of us up quick, sharp.
{Ed025's Note - sounds good mate..
03 Nov 2025 08:05:54
Edd 25
Just like Squid games lol.
{Ed025's Note - it would certainly bring back the excitement Chrisy.. :)
03 Nov 2025 09:35:29
You can change the rules all you like but the ref still needs to uphold them. At 0-0 on Saturday Onana went down off the pitch and the ref still stopped the game. It was only when Virg went up to him to point out that the game shouldn't be stopped because he is off the pitch that the ref tried to get the game restarted but there were 2 Villa players completely ignoring him and instead of booking them for deliberate time wasting he let them ignore him and carry on having a drink break until Onana was back on his feet and ready to return to the pitch.
Trying to buy a bit of time towards the end of a game to help get you over the line is one thing but so many teams are wasting time from the first minute nowadays and it is spoiling the game. Don't get me wrong Brentford deserved the win against us but they took 10 minutes off the clock with 10 throw-ins.
Something needs to be done and I think time limits are worth a try. 15 seconds per throw, 30 seconds per dead ball situation. Failure to meet the time limit results in the decision being reversed.
03 Nov 2025 18:36:01
Rather then you have 8 seconds for a throw in or get a yellow, or 8 seconds when the balls in the keepers hands to release or a corner is given to the other team, to address time wasting. scrap that……why not simply you have 8 seconds for a throw in after which the ref will stop the watch until you do, same with keepers give them the 8 seconds, then stop the watch until they do, surely the easiest way to stop time wasting is to stop the watch. Plus it stops opponents learning when for instance, a full back is taking a throw, from in their own half early in a match to overload the area and man mark making throwing options zero in order to get a defender on an early yellow, same for teams who love corners to do the same to keepers early in games.
Its simple after 8 seconds the ref stops the watch until the ball is in play…I trust a ref more to count to 8 and press a pause button, then make more objective decisions about a football match……. alternatively give increasingly aggressive wedgys after 8 seconds.
03 Nov 2025 19:32:37
One of my biggest bugbears is, substitutions in injury time, one of the biggest form of time wasting there is.
03 Nov 2025 21:28:44
If they stop time wasting on throw inns dead ball kicks and corners Arsenal will be knackered they are the masters of it .
Throw in one player picks the ball up walks several feet forward then gives the ball to full back to take the throw in.
Dead ball kicks in there half player stands over the ball waits till players in or around opposition area the player then goes forward the keeper comes up picks the ball up throws it a couple of feet forward and takes the kick .
Corners Arsenal plays crowd the box crowd the keeper then pushing and shoving happens ref stops game to give a lecture to the players .
If opposition getting on top Arsenal player will go down with a mystery injury the rest run to arteta to get more instruction . It was the keeper going down with fake injury but refs caught on to that.
Arsenal a team that depends on free kicks and corners as a big part of their tactics would suffer most if a rule change came in about time wasting.
