Arne Slot will be sacked after
tonight's game vs Qarabag, no matter the result.

Follow up.

There has been a huge fallout between Slot and those above him ( Carra ) confirmed this today. Slot will go and it was said it would happen after last night's game. It ls only a matter of time. Hence why Slot has been so spiky during his press conferences

Up the reds.

Joel Ordonez.

29 Jan 2026 10:44:41
He'll be in the dug out Saturday night.

29 Jan 2026 11:17:16
Marc Guehi was in Liverpool gear at one point and ended up in City blue.

29 Jan 2026 11:18:29
He may well be.

29 Jan 2026 20:00:40
Who may well be what?

29 Jan 2026 23:24:25
Slot is on the strongest thin ice ever and would survive a heat wave!

His pressers suggest he's massively p'd off and our performances confirm they've lost confidence in him.

The longer this shambles continues, this worse we get, the further we get from CL next season and our manager shortlist becomes even shorter.
Get rid now, whilst we have a chance to make a change and improve before the season is done!

31 Jan 2026 11:15:38
That 6 - 0 was a massive giveaway that the confidence is shot eh? Getting automatic qualification into the last 16 of the CL would br a sure fire confidence killer.

29 Jan 2026 09:09:23
Hello all.

Sadly, there's been a monumental fallout at the club between Slot and his superiors.

He strongly feels that he hasn't been backed enough in the summer and isn't being backed in this market to turn it round

It's definitely sinking in that he can't save his job.

Spike Hulshoff and Ruben Peeters not helping matters behind the scenes.

Worst kept secret in football, Alonso will be the next Liverpool manager AND there could be a very interesting additional appointment when he joins.

Can't give a time frame as it's like a ticking time bomb.

No news of any incomings transfer wise.

Ta.

{Ed025's Note - cheers Carra..

Carra without a full stop again?

29 Jan 2026 09:51:50
On a different subject completely, I wonder what Gerrard's plans are for the next few years. ?

Not fishing for an answer Carra, appreciate your posts always. Thank you sir.

29 Jan 2026 09:55:35
Thanks as always Carra.

I feel like the bad guy in a movie eagerly waiting for the bomb to go off and kill all the people.

6-0 win.

Darn. Foiled again at the last second.

29 Jan 2026 09:55:57
Thanks for the update Carra!

29 Jan 2026 09:58:47
Thanks for info Carra.

Went to the match last night and he looked fed up at the end and annoyed in the press conference even after such a great win. So seems a shame but best thing. Just seems strange to keep him in there but clearly loads going on behind the scenes. Any clues as tobthe additional appointment?

29 Jan 2026 10:03:10
Surprised he feels he wasn't backed in the summer. But after injuries, I feel for him that he's had support in the market in January.

Intrigued who the additional appointment would be. Possibly a new sporting director would be my guess.

29 Jan 2026 10:03:19
Well he has a fair point, the purchases didn't completely correspond to what we needed and instead represented the best purchases on the market that we could have made. Now that we have no defensive depth whatsoever the team isn't moving summer targets forward to help us, we desperately need at least one center half who can also play on the right, if not two center halves.

Combine that with the fact that robbo might still leave if Kostas comes back. It all simply doesn't make sense.

29 Jan 2026 10:03:45
Cheers Carra. Sounds like a total mess. I kinda feel for Slot in a way but he does need to go. He's lost his way. BUT I'll always maintain that someone who doesn't get the city and move in permanently and put down roots will ultimately fail. Clop came in and embraced the city the people the rivalry and his family came too.

Im led to believe Slots family stayed in Holland and he visits them and they visit him. Never seen out in town ever. It's a weird way to take on this role at this club. If Xabi comes in we already know he loves the city and the people. It's a no brainer. Give him what he needs to succeed with players and staff etc Im sure he'll be great.

29 Jan 2026 10:04:03
Cheers Carra. Im in the miniority that kinda agrees with Slot here. anyway we most likely do need a fresh start. Alonso would be great and would love a milner character as the surprise appointment.

As much as i love Xabi he can still be "cold (ish) ". I think a Milner could come in and be one of the lads while still demanding high standards. If he's ready to step into coaching that is. let's see!

29 Jan 2026 10:05:08
Stevie G, the additional appointment?

29 Jan 2026 10:08:29
Not what I expected after the game last night but cheers for the update Carra.

29 Jan 2026 10:10:33
Cheers Carra for any information you tell us. what has happened to our club. It seems to have gone tits up since Edwards has come back.

29 Jan 2026 10:12:46
Stevie G to be assistant to Alonso. Bringing the golden bootroom back in full effect.

Slot whines far too much, but fails to admit that his rigid ideas re fitness and tactics plus his endless waffle about PSG and low blocks smell of weakness and limp leadership.

Slot is an egotist, still clinging on to the title win, which is well in the past.

29 Jan 2026 10:15:33
Thanks Carra, I'm going to take a guess at the surprise appointment.

Either - Stevie Gerrard or James Milner as part of the management/ coaching set up.

And/ Or - Klopp as DoF.

29 Jan 2026 10:15:37
Thanks Carra. Just from the outside looking in, things don't appear to be right. Let's hope things right themselves over the summer. I'd hope we could bring in players before February arrives, but I know I might as well be asking for oceans to dry up.

29 Jan 2026 10:16:03
Great update. Thanks as always Carra. ??.

29 Jan 2026 10:16:35
Any chance Jurgen would come in as Director of Football to work with Xabi?

29 Jan 2026 10:17:22
While I think he should go, he's right that the club haven't backed him we can all see how short we are in defence and even if xabi comes in we'll still be short.

29 Jan 2026 10:19:49
Thanks for the updates, we most definitely need a couple of defenders in, Slot or not so I agree that he has been left to rot along with our season!

29 Jan 2026 10:20:00
Oh go on Carra. At least give us a hint!

29 Jan 2026 10:22:55
If Calsberg did clear outs and dream appointments it would be thank you and good bye to Edwards, Hughes, and Slot - Hello to Mr Klopp, Mr Alonso with Mr Gerrard as assistant. Just because it's a dream I would throw Adam Wharton in there as well just because he is good now, imagine him working daily with Xabi and Steve G.

Cheers Carra, when I tell myself it's not going to happen I get caught once again like the gullible fish I am ?.

29 Jan 2026 10:24:09
Peeters is the physical performance coach so am not surprised he's involved here since our physical performance has been beyond rubbish.

29 Jan 2026 10:24:41
No thanks! ……. but I'd love Milner to join Alonso.

29 Jan 2026 10:25:01
I had more been thinking of a replacement for Hughes. Perhaps Klopp could come to the club in some capacity?! Wishful thinking.

29 Jan 2026 10:26:40
Feels like time is running down, it's not if and certainly when.

Also feels like there are some reasons, but also quite a few excuses from Slot - not really seen Slot take responsibility for anything, but may have missed it if he has.

His position is untenable now.

29 Jan 2026 10:32:59
Klopp in as Sporting Director, Gerrard as assistant to Alonso and Milner as fitness coach then its tissue time again.

All very unlikely I know.

29 Jan 2026 10:33:06
Don't think it's sadly at this point. His style of football is awful - more players wouldn't solve that. We would just have won more games playing boring football.

29 Jan 2026 10:34:54
Thanks for the info carra. Would love to see milner and thiago in coaching roles. Especially milner.

29 Jan 2026 10:37:56
He played alongside some good players during his time with us, so the connection could be any of them if that's the angle. Perhaps Hyypia to bring some defensive coaching. I would have thought that most of his back room would come from Spain.

29 Jan 2026 10:39:54
Hughes has already ruffled a few feathers the wrong way.

What was said about Richard Hughes that could be influencing Mohamed Salah talks?

Experienced agent Rob Jansen brokered a deal for John Heitinga to join Arne Slot's coaching staff at Anfield over the summer

He negotiated directly with Richard Hughes to ensure his client could make the switch from West Ham to Liverpool FC – and believes the former Bournemouth director is a cold individual:

"One thing Richard Hughes doesn't have is any sense of empathy, " Jansen said on the Kieft Jansen Egmond Gijp podcast as relayed by Sport Witness.

"Zero. He's a robot. I know that because I negotiated with him, for Heitinga, " he explained.

29 Jan 2026 10:44:28
Much appreciated as ever Carra, it sounds a complete mess.

29 Jan 2026 10:54:53
Just a thought really.

How about Thiago as Alonso's no.2? Team mates at Bayern under Pep and Ancelotti.

29 Jan 2026 11:04:22
Ernest Millar
That's the dream team.

29 Jan 2026 11:04:32
Thanks, Carra. To be fair to Slot, he hasn't been backed. We spent a lot in the summer but majority of the signings were replacements for outgoings and not like for likes. Why no wingers brought in if Slot has always played with true wide players with 1v1 ability? I get he is head coach (a lot of disparity about head coach vs manager these days) but you need the full team and hierarchy to work within the head coach's preferences surely. Briggs being appointed set piece coach when he actually was brought in as academy / first team type advisor also indicates misalignment in that wider club management structure. The xG difference between us and Arsenal can be made up of set piece goal difference alone.

So let's hope the surprise additional appointment is either replacing or adding to the DoF / CEO level that can support the manager and coaching staff going forward.

29 Jan 2026 11:07:26
Klopp as sporting director would be very unlikely given his history with Edwards. However it would be a smart appointment by Edwards due to Klopp's charisma and pulling power and could prove to be vital in convincing players to join. I think it could work as he would have a full data team behind him giving him the players to approach but of course he would have his own input too.

I think it's more likely to be Gerrard as assistant coach to Alonso. They both have a huge amount of respect for one another and Gerrard as an assistant coach and go between rather than head coach would mean we have two highly respected figures at the club, further strengthening our pull in attracting players but also our position with the squad. Now if it's Klopp as sporting director, Alonso as head coach and Gerrard as assistant coach…. Well, you can't blame a guy for dreaming! ?.

29 Jan 2026 11:09:03
Taffarel back to Liverpool as het can combine it with the role at the Brazil team like in the past.

29 Jan 2026 11:21:10
How can anyone say he wasn't backed in the summer? He did lose some important players but they were replaced with best in class.

The defensive issue is unfortunate but we won a title with 4 CBs last season and we have 4 CBs this season. It's just that Quansah's replacement got a long term injury in his first game and Konate has decided to play like Djimi Traore's less talented Grandad. In fact I can't ever remember Klopp having more than 4 CBs either.

The fact is the poor form of the players who are playing is down to him and his coaching staff. He can moan about not having enough players but how about you get the players you have got playing some kind of consistent, effective football? If I was our DOF I'd be hesitant to give him more players too because he seems to have broken the players he already has!

I've got nothing against Slot he exceeded all our expectations last season and was brilliant. However, he started this season with a better squad than he had last season and has just failed to make the most of it.

There are mitigating factors but I just think a change is needed now. Regardless of what signings we do or don't make in this window the team should be performing a lot better than it is and that's on Slot.

29 Jan 2026 11:41:36
LikeAVirgil. Great shout!
Would probably be a good coach.
Certainly would get on with all the players too!

29 Jan 2026 11:42:38
Slot has lost all perspective and is in crisis mode spouting any old nonsense out to deflect, starting to sound a lot like ETH before the chop. All this talk of how many titles have been won in 30 years, who we went out to in the Europa league and his obsession with loosing to PSG is all frankly DESPERATE but deliberate as he has repeated the statements on multiple occassions.

Now we are starting to hear that he feels he hasn't been backed when most people when the summer window closed were heralding our business as possibly the greatest window ever whilst bemoaning not getting Guehi. We brought in some excellent talent and were the envy of many, yes we have injuries and now seem unbalanced but Slot should be getting more from this squad!

29 Jan 2026 10:49:32
Ed033 is this the real Carra because he changed his name to have a full stop when he lost his login details.

{Ed033's Note - This is the original [real] Carra it seems.

29 Jan 2026 11:26:15
Am i right in being suspicious that there is a 'Carra. ' and a 'Carra'?

{Ed033's Note - Carra would ideally state whether Carra. is the same as Carra

29 Jan 2026 11:51:57
Hello Reds is this the correct Carra (there is no full stop? )

{Ed033's Note - This appears to be the correct Carra

29 Jan 2026 12:08:46
Thanks Carra, it can't come quick enough mate!

29 Jan 2026 12:12:11
Personally, I think Slot has been shafted. I'd like to think he hasn't been backed with the players he wanted to sign. We should have got Semenyo and Guehi. Is Slot responsible for Salah's legs going? I'm not saying that I'm pleased with the current style of play. Wirtz is up and down and the other signings are either injured or not at the races we are in a race for 4th and we need to act quickly and react to the current situation presenting itself.

Forget long term solutions and focus on the here and now. Get in a CB, and a versatile CB/ RB. The rest can be done over the summer.
Would I take Xabi, of course I would. But I doubt he'd do much better with our current squad. Sadly, I think that some four players are no longer playing for Arne and for that I blame Salah and potentially a few others. The club will always be bigger than any player and any manager.

29 Jan 2026 12:17:18
Wow. got to be honest needed a little safety wipe.

Come on. klopp as DoF. and Alonso as coach.

I know carra didn't say that. someone else did. but not going to lie. the old romantic in me is LOVING that idea

So Ed1. put that on my xmas list pls. well late list

Would love your thoughts on that idea tho if you get chance. not likely it happening. as in donyou think that could work? Or would Klopps shadow be too much?

{Ed001's Note - I see two problems with it. Firstly Klopp has a job and I doubt he would want to leave his easy relaxing lifestyle that comes with it. Secondly, if he did he is not the type to be able to step back and let others run things.}

29 Jan 2026 12:26:55
Carra mentioned that he'll be posting as both Carra and Carra. (with a full stop)

29 Jan 2026 12:45:25
Thiago Alcântara in as part of the backroom staff.

29 Jan 2026 12:49:51
Seems contradictory from Slot. Happy to stand corrected but didn't he say last year the squad was too big for him to juggle and keep them all happy hence Elliott Tsimikas Quansah Nunez and Diaz all being moved on? To now say his squad is too thin is a bit rich.

29 Jan 2026 12:56:56
Alonso in and Gerrard next to him at CB. Is Phil Neal still about for RB?
I only want what's best for LFC but Slot has been severely let down with defensive signings. Frimpong isn't a premier league full back. Needs sorting.

29 Jan 2026 13:07:02
Sure it is something to do with losing his log in, however, the original Carra (no full stop) is saved and always logged in on his work computer.

So when out and about it is Carra.

When at work Carra

29 Jan 2026 13:12:20
I'm not surprised he feels he wasn't backed in the summer. Hughes sold Diaz against Slots wishes, failed to buy a replacement, failed to get centre back, failed to get a 6. Let too many players leave, brought too few in and those he got some we didn't need.

29 Jan 2026 13:18:05
I agree fully with Sean Dundee above. I don't see how it can be said that the manager has not been supported here. The team put together for this season was much more talented than the team put out there last season.

29 Jan 2026 13:29:08
I wonder if the surprise appointment in backroom would be jamie carragher.

29 Jan 2026 13:31:42
This is a genuine question, not a rhetorical one. To the people calling for Edwards to go, how do you go about replacing him? There are so few people in his role and the role of sporting directors who you can be confident would do a good job at the highest level. I think Hughes needs to go but with Edwards at least he was a part of our success when we were arguably the best run club in the world so he has seen what that looks like. Who could come in to replace him in his abstract job?

When I look at other sporting directors to replace Hughes, I think there are slim pickings too. Sporting directors seem to do a good job at one club but stink out the next. Like I haven't been impressed with Viana's work at City. It's easy to spend money but I don't think he's been bringing in the level of player they were signing in the 10s.

29 Jan 2026 13:32:31
Those wanting Gerrard as part of the backroom staff have got to be the same ones wanting Chiesa and Endo as starters, right? Clueless!

29 Jan 2026 13:48:13
If true, it sucks they're leaving it so late. new coach won't be able to get a CB in.

29 Jan 2026 13:57:26
Firstly, nice one Carra.

Secondly, stop living in cloud cuckoo land. There is no way Klopp is coming back to the club, so stop pining over an ex-lover ?.

Lastly, I know the reps of both Gerrard and Tiago. From conversations with them, I think Tiago is more likely to come in alongside Alonso than Gerrard. As Gerrard wants a managerial role more. Still it could happen.

29 Jan 2026 14:07:16
I did confirm the other day that Carra. was me.

I've manage to get back onto the original account now.

Ta.

29 Jan 2026 14:21:03
When did Carra mention this @dracred? And did Carra with a full stop say that or Carra without? Carra without the full stop seems to write and speak diffent to Carra without the full stop.

29 Jan 2026 14:32:26
For Ed001 and others, Carra (. ) did say that he is the same person. He forgot his password for the account as he was travelling abroad and the password was saved on his PC at home, so he set up Carra. until he got back when he reverted back to Carra

Both posts are somewhere on the Discussions page (IIRC)

Could be some hoaxes there, but I believe it is the same poster.

29 Jan 2026 14:32:57
Oooof just catching up now!

Thanks for sharing, Carra.

29 Jan 2026 13:25:57
Thx for reply Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome MR.}

29 Jan 2026 13:39:56
I'd love James Milner back as a coach/ assistant too but I don't think him and Xabi ever crossed paths, maybe as opponents, so it seems unlikely.

Thiago is a good shout "Like a Virgil" but he struggled to adapt to the premier league and he was leading the way with Bajcetic's development - didn't turn out too promising.

I'd give Thiago a wide berth but it's a good shout as a possibility.

Gerrard I feel is a bit too much of the Roy Keane / Glenn Hoddle type. Expects/ demands players to be able to do what he could do without explaining how.

{Ed001's Note - Leighton Clarkson tells a different story regarding Gerrard's coaching when he was working with him in the youth teams Ron. He credits Gerrard with teaching him how to take deadballs, Clarkson used to stay behind after training and work with Gerrard.}

29 Jan 2026 14:45:20
Diaz wanted to leave and was pushing for a move for the past two seasons. Did everyone forget the comments his father made about Barcelona being Diaz's dream club and how much he wanted to move to them almost immediately after he was rescued from the kidnappers? Diaz spat in the face of the club that stood by him during one of the most difficult periods anyone can go through so good riddance to him.

29 Jan 2026 16:43:09
Exactly, Drac. I was absolutely delighted to see the back of him.

29 Jan 2026 18:14:36
Thanks Carra

That could explain the strange interviews that Slot has been giving lately.

29 Jan 2026 18:41:14
Thanks Ed001, I'd never read that.

Thanks The Fields, Carra, Carra., Robboslegs, Viktor, Flanders, Neily and any other ITKs and NITKs ??.

{Ed001's Note - always a pleasure Ronald.}

29 Jan 2026 20:08:43
Oh, oh, oh I know, I know, I know …. is the potential intriguing addition none other than Jurgen Norbert Klopp who'll pack in his Red Bull job and return to Liverpool as Director of Football with XA as Head Coach? Now that would be something eh?

I should add I am an original member of the IKFA gang and this is the banter page, but, you never know …….

29 Jan 2026 23:50:09
I'm sure many people on this site are very relieved to see Carra posting that Carra. Is indeed him ? but then I got to thinking what if the Carra that said Carra. is him was actually the person who originally hacked the Carra. account and is now taking the p. saying that Carra. is actually him when in fact Carra. may not be Carra at all and could be a guy who having hacked Carra.

then also hacked Carra too only to then post as Carra that Carra. is the real Carra (whoever the real Carra. actually is) I only hope Dougie_Do_ins. doesn't see this post and claim to be the real Do_ins. be careful who you trust people. and watch out for the. version of yourself (you ain't seen me …. right ?)

30 Jan 2026 01:51:14
I'm not surprised Slot doesn't feel like he was backed in the Summer, lots of incomings but lots of outgoings too, and given what we know about Edwards I very much doubt Slot's input was taken into much consideration. He has dropped hints abut this before. Either way, his football is highly ineffective, and I can't imagine it would have worked no matter who they brought in.

Anybody thinking Klopp is going to leave his extremely cushy number at Red Bull to come back to the high stress levels of the Premier League is off their rocker. He absolutely loves his new job and had planned the move for quite some time, he was approached by Red Bull at least 2 years prior to leaving. He also purchased his current home back in 2022, and it underwent massive refurbishment for 2 years. None of that is a coincidence. And as part of his new role, he gets to work remotely from home and spend a lot more time with his family.

28 Jan 2026 22:48:31
Love the work everyone does on here, especially the Ed's for putting up with us! …….
I've heard that after yesterday's press conference and slot not doing himself any favours, the big wigs are watching closely. I've read that not matter the result tonight he will be gone.

Not sure how true that is but worth the share. This is an old style rumour! …… my misses works in the beauty industry and mixes with some of the wives of the footballers from Liverpool. She said that Curtis isn't happy with the wages we are offering and that he's looking to move if we don't offer what he wants.

She also said that Mr Alonso is going to be the next manager, supposedly she met his partner Nagore Aranburu and they are looking forward to living in Liverpool. I say supposedly because she is uninterested in celebrity culture! So I'm not sure she'd know who these people are. Lol.

She's meeting a few of them again towards the weekend for a few cocktails with the girls as she put it. I'll keep you all updated if she gets on more gossip.

This has made me so happy. When does part 2 air?

29 Jan 2026 01:09:32
@Thefields, if you read this, can you say if Curtis is considering leaving or not? There was a discussion in here the other day about Liverpool not doing things the 'Liverpool way' this season.

To me Curtis embodies everything the club is - an articulate young man, who works hard, doesn't sulk and always plays for the team. Plus he is a sound Scouser. I'd love him to stay to help put things right.

29 Jan 2026 07:46:52
Seems like a very poor rip of of the Desperate Scousewives.

29 Jan 2026 07:47:40
His partner is looking forward to living in Liverpool? Well it's not like she hasn't been here before, their first child was born here….

29 Jan 2026 09:15:28
"Listen yeah, Xabi Alonso as Liverpool gaffer sounds boss an' all that, but it's all chat for now. No one's signed nothin', no pen out, no 'welcome home lad' pics.

Basically, if Slot gets binned, then yeah, Xabi's one of the names gettin' passed round like a bevvy at a house party. Club's had a quiet little nosy with his people, an' he's apparently up for it — coz let's be honest, who wouldn't want to come back Anfield?

(thank you chat GPT)

29 Jan 2026 09:20:09
Curtis isn't leaving, he's very happy in Liverpool. he's got a young family here and wants to stay nearby.
My sister heard it at the local butchers.

{Ed025's Note - hes not getting the chop then?.. :)

29 Jan 2026 09:52:14
Any tips on how to become an ITK? Seems like every man and his dog has an angle on what is going on at the club atm.

anyone.

No.

I'll get my coat!

29 Jan 2026 10:31:31
Darwin, basically say 'my sources say…' flip flop a lot when your guess doesn't work out say 'the situations change quickly in football' and then wait for Carra to post and say 'my sources said the same'. He's the one reliable poster at the moment.

29 Jan 2026 18:25:45
More like his missus ain't happy with the wages on offer ?.

28 Jan 2026 20:58:40
Hi Diddly Ho,

Not much to go on but Arne Slot has been informed he will not be the Head Coach next season.

Wonder if that explains his odd comments in the press conference yesterday?

I'm not sure when his tenure is going to actually end, but through the grapevine it's very well known there will be a new HC in the summer, if not before.

On a personal level I really hope it's Xabi.

Anyway, let's see this game out.

Diddly Out.

Thx for sharing neighbour but I really can't see how that's good for the club, the players, Slot. Like telling the wife she's going to be replaced in a few months and expect her not to play around with the milkman.

28 Jan 2026 21:23:12
You and me both Red_Flyer69. you and me both.

We've become completely unrecognisable both on and off the pitch.

28 Jan 2026 21:25:48
Thanks for posting but I don't buy it. There are probably murmers that he might leave but he hasn't been told he's 100% leaving. What good does that do for anyone? If he wins the CL he'll probably stay.

28 Jan 2026 21:30:39
100% Ned. Sad to see.

28 Jan 2026 21:33:23
Skezza that's exactly what I thought when I got told, just passing it on.

Hope it's not true in the sense that it makes zero sense for anyone.

I do wonder if things are being leaked on purpose, not necessarily true things but more as a test to see where the moles are - said it before and I'll say it again, I think my days as an ITK are numbered, take that as you will.

28 Jan 2026 21:38:02
You think the boys may have heard the news? They've played totally different tonight. Bring on the last 16.

28 Jan 2026 21:55:49
Thx Ned

Even if you no longer are able to drip feed us some info i do hope you continue to give us a hi diddly ho!. one of the more balanced and level headed posters.

On a separate note any one at the game?. not sure if it's tv wizardry or what but Anfield sounded dead pretty much all game.

28 Jan 2026 21:59:42
Theres no way they told him that. What if he gets top 4 and wins the Champions League. Gigantic if of course. At most they will have informed him that if this run continues or we miss top 5 he will be replaced but until he's officicially sacked they will have to at least pretend they are backing him to some extent.

28 Jan 2026 22:01:24
Slot looked miserable at the final whistle.

28 Jan 2026 22:16:17
Slotts not going anywhere, hi diddly ho.

28 Jan 2026 22:22:49
Fake news. Not happened.

28 Jan 2026 22:44:54
It would be such an admission of fault to sack the man who was researched so specifically. New coach would hesitate an aw.
They may have had their heads turned a bit by the prettiest Xabi at the disco, but they won't cheat on the Mrs.
Its just too much for an analysis/ stat driven outfit.
If we were bottom half. maybe people would get a but twitchy but as we are, it's just silly.

To the eds: is this impatience down to those who weren't around for the Souness years?

We are not Man u, Chelsea or City.

We do things slightly differently.

Len out.

(Only ever post here when drunk so apologies if I'm full of effluent. YNWA)

28 Jan 2026 23:12:24
I agree with Ned that there could be intentional leaks to see who the mole is. Some of these rumours make no sense.

28 Jan 2026 23:13:10
English people don't get ill. Jones is poorly.

29 Jan 2026 00:21:39
Joho, it must be his "tummy".

29 Jan 2026 01:26:06
Your days as an ITK may be numbered but you're still more than welcomed to join in with your views and opinions as an IKFA like the rest of us. Hope you still continue posting even though you have no inside scoops to share :)

29 Jan 2026 09:16:32
We appreciate it Ned, thanks for passing on your info.

28 Jan 2026 19:09:52
Anyone know why Curtis Jones isn't in the squad tonight? Injury? or is there more to the Spurs rumours than we are being told?

Agree2 Disagree0

28 Jan 2026 19:15:12
Illness.

28 Jan 2026 19:15:25
He's ill.

28 Jan 2026 19:23:37
Was just about to ask the same. He best not be getting sold. I like Curtis.

28 Jan 2026 19:30:07
He had too many Shandy's at the weekend.

28 Jan 2026 19:38:14
He misses the game due to illness.

28 Jan 2026 19:40:02
Curtis won't leave.

28 Jan 2026 19:52:13
He's sick of the performances being served up, much like the fans!

28 Jan 2026 20:46:58
Im reliably informed Curtis Jones has retired from professional football and has now opened a Haberdashery but intends to play green bowls to keep himself fit in the summer. Winters are quiet.

28 Jan 2026 22:15:56
Nah he got the rubbishs.

29 Jan 2026 09:24:08
he needs some Lucozade in crinkly orange selephane that would sort him.

28 Jan 2026 18:20:57
I've seen a post by David ornstein saying Arne slot won't be sacked until the summer.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jan 2026 18:37:59
Slot is pretty much gone. He will be sacked sooner than Summer.

My guess is that there is an interim lined up already waiting in the wings.

Slot will be gone before Saturday.

28 Jan 2026 19:00:09
Time will tell. If the club want CL they'll act. If they don't, well they'll be more at fault than the manager.

28 Jan 2026 19:01:16
It's a bold and nonsensical prediction.

What if he does something illegal or grossly inappropriate, he would almost certainly be sacked.

Truth is, no-one really knows.
Whilst we're in with a shout (CL, top 4) I would think the board is loathed to rock the boat.

28 Jan 2026 19:04:09
unless we lose 10-0 i don't see him getting sacked before summer.

28 Jan 2026 19:07:20
I reckon it will be after the Newcastle game, there's 8 days until the next game against Citeh to bring someone in and coach the players at a higher tempo.

28 Jan 2026 19:08:33
What do you know, Ron? What did Slot do to you and have you reported it?

28 Jan 2026 19:29:36
Ron,

Aren't his tactics grossly inappropriate enough then ???.

28 Jan 2026 19:40:21
I know Jack-all Zed.

29 Jan 2026 00:26:30
He won't be sacked. There will be a "transition".

Unless there isn't an upgrade available. then it will be tepid until the profile catches something in the numbers.

I really think that people don't make these decisions anymore. The numbers speak, the alternative is available, the axe falls. Nobody's fault, it's just the numbers.

Surely, u have seen moneyball.

Make the connections yourself. As I have stated, I'm drunk and fairly happy right now. (Let's see how I feel in the am)

29 Jan 2026 00:51:40
Arne yer bike?

Come on man, that's pure bait.

Who the frick are
U?

I would put money in u having another username and just ne stirringnip effluent after a solid performance.

For real rho boys: how sharp is Ekitike right now? (Not a real question, i see it)
And Flo?

Should have played a kid in goal, 1 at CB and 1 at RB. Missed a trick there.

I know people are foaming at the. Mouth coz we didn't smash every competition this year but come in man, we will be poo hot in about 8 months. Just bide your time. I promise. We are good.

29 Jan 2026 01:56:17
Yes because being 2 points off top 4 means its massively unlikely we get top 4. This is with thr fact England will also likely have 5 spots next year again.

29 Jan 2026 02:29:07
I don't care what you haters say: after tonight's match, I'm more convinced than ever that Slot would win the Azerbaijani league in a walk.

28 Jan 2026 15:51:41
Arne Slot will be sacked after tonight's game vs Qarabag, no matter the result.

28 Jan 2026 16:02:45
Home Alone face goes here.

28 Jan 2026 16:02:53
Sure Jan.

28 Jan 2026 16:14:28
Would you put money on it?

28 Jan 2026 16:16:53
I am not saying this is an absolute certainty but I have heard whispers along these lines also. We will see what happens.

28 Jan 2026 16:18:39
Is that before or after Joel Ordonez is presented?

28 Jan 2026 16:21:06
Is Joel Ordoñez to Liverpool still done?

28 Jan 2026 16:49:32
There would be no logic to that. Why give him another match when it's already decided. Surely he would have gone on Monday if that was the case?

Saying that, I am constantly baffled by a lot of decisions the club is making at the moment so I wouldn't actually be that surprised.

28 Jan 2026 17:08:48
Ive heard it will be done at half time with Alonso taking charge for the second half.

28 Jan 2026 17:14:20
CL football slipping away and his comments are just embarrassing the club and have been for months. Long overdue if true. Personally I think they've acted 3 months too late.

28 Jan 2026 17:21:51
Bobby will Stevie be interim and give the half time team talk?

28 Jan 2026 17:31:24
The rumour I heard was that the club wanted the champions league group stage to be saw out by Slot before a mutual departure but it's also highly possible to just be bull. I don't THINK the club will sack him in the coming weeks even but it's not totally out of the realms of possibility.

28 Jan 2026 17:35:04
The change will happen on the 60 minute mark. It'll give Alonso a chance to make the subs.

28 Jan 2026 17:36:28
I can confirm, Neily will present Alonso during a Superbowl-esque half time show, followed by an egg and spoon race between Frimpong, Oscar Pistorius and Martin Brundle to help raise money for Slot's trip to Ibiza.

{Ed025's Note - love that Chewy..

28 Jan 2026 17:39:02
Can't see it happening. It didn't happen after being humiliated by Forest at home so it's hardly going to happen after tonight's game.

If it does though, Slot has no one to blame but himself for being so stubborn and not changing our midfield and defensive set up, we've been too soft and too weak for months but he's repeatedly stuck with tactics that just don't work.

28 Jan 2026 17:58:29
I believe Slot and Alonso will get 1 half each, with a decision made on the basis of how we do ;-)

28 Jan 2026 18:12:25
I'm not expecting this to be true. There is rumours about it but there is also rumours about us buying a CB as well. So who knows eh ?.

28 Jan 2026 18:15:38
Surely if we lose tonight he is gone?

{Ed025's Note - you wont lose tonight mate..

28 Jan 2026 18:17:48
Vik his stubbornness is truly baffling, matched only maybe by his arrogance.

28 Jan 2026 18:28:25
Shipley they might have spoken to him after Saturday's match and decided to keep him but that was 4 days ago. Something else could've happened since then to change their mind.

A breakthrough with Alonso? A senior player talking to them? Slot himself saying he's had enough? A dressing room revolt?

I'm not saying I believe this rumour but things do move fast in the football world so I wouldn't be surprised.

28 Jan 2026 18:22:38
At tho point, when it happens, it will be a mercy-sacking.

28 Jan 2026 18:23:03
During halftime, trump will be ousted as an alien lizard in drag. Sounds more realistic.

28 Jan 2026 18:24:43
Ed, PSV stuck 4 past us. it's not out of the realms of possibility. ?.

{Ed025's Note - trust me 2Shoes...im a doctor.. :)

28 Jan 2026 18:44:09
Its the clubs way of identifying the moles.

28 Jan 2026 19:07:17
Slot will be picked up at half time by the Babelcopter and he and Abby Clancy will be whisked to Ibiza to front a reboot of the Hitman and Her. Simao and Kjaer will step off the Babelcopter at the same time with Xabi Alonso, and the trio will kick three penalties into Diana Ross-style collapsing goals to mark the regeneration.

Dr. Alonso - a lifesaving mission.

28 Jan 2026 19:28:02
Technically, summer is after tonight's game.

28 Jan 2026 19:49:54
Biggun, you forgot Ken Aguero landing at JLA anytime now.

28 Jan 2026 21:54:44
"No matter the result"

Sacking him after a 6-0 would be ballsy.

28 Jan 2026 21:30:28
Ed25 well predicted!

{Ed025's Note - you played well Khai, but against a very poor side i have to say mate..

29 Jan 2026 14:20:31
Didn't gerrard say after frimpongs injury they will bring jones on even though he wasn't in the squad?

28 Jan 2026 13:12:38

Don't need any more of them.
Run a mile from that.

28 Jan 2026 15:54:43
Wish people would stop banging on about Upamecano. He's bang average, literally a discount Konate.

28 Jan 2026 15:56:12
Imagine him and Konate next to each other.
Oh my!

28 Jan 2026 16:33:08
been reported by sky sports. Not LFC related, but Sterling departs chelsea.

28 Jan 2026 17:17:21
He will make Konate look like prime Baresi. More holes in his game than 10 pounds of swiss cheese.

29 Jan 2026 01:15:55
Starseeker. Early ceiling mate, he's done.

28 Jan 2026 13:11:21
Just passing on what I've read - Valentijn Driessen, a respected journalist in The Netherlands and who has been historically critical of many Dutch managers working abroad, has hinted at a decision having already been made around Slot's future.

He's compared it to Van Gaal's final few months at United when rumours of his sacking were circulating in Dec/ Jan and he was replaced by Mourinho in the Summer despite winning the F. A cup.

Agree5 Disagree0

28 Jan 2026 13:53:31
Something will get leaked, and we have so many Dutch connections this is probably as likely a route as any for something to break.

28 Jan 2026 14:03:41
I that the same rumour that said that Alonso is taking over and is ready to axe 5 first team players?

28 Jan 2026 14:38:13
Did it say which five Shipley? Guessing Konate, Mo, Cody, Macca, maybe even VVD.
If that's the case it would have to be summer as we've no one to bring in to drop one of them now, never mind five.

28 Jan 2026 15:06:14
Slot is talking so much nonsense, he lost the room long ago. Plod ball is not suited to the prem and we need to move on from Dutch managers, period.

Why do we have to put up with it until the end of the season though? Stevie Me would bring a bit of energy and could nurture dom. He can go down as another pub quiz anomoly (like Slot).

28 Jan 2026 15:10:54
@Shipley, no. Think that one was based on some Spanish outlet, didn't seem too reputable.

27 Jan 2026 17:11:58
Is everyone nailed on for xabi, who else anyone thinking de zerbi anyone personally like the attacking football.

{Ed025's Note - not for me Mj, his teams can get beat by some very average teams 3-0 mate.. :)

Agree2 Disagree36

27 Jan 2026 17:41:16
Rather have zebadee.

27 Jan 2026 18:04:12
I'd rather keep Slot than De Zerbi an utter fraud.

27 Jan 2026 18:15:17
Prefer a Zebra.

27 Jan 2026 18:23:25
Brilliant Ed25 ?.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..

27 Jan 2026 18:25:16
99% of time it's a horse.

27 Jan 2026 18:46:57
Iraola at the moment.
Worked with Hughes before, seem comfortable managing a lot of regular squad changes.

Both are big gambles unfortunately. There isn't the slam-dunk talent out there like there was with Klopp. I don't know, maybe Enrique comes close to that.

27 Jan 2026 18:55:20
We'd be better off hiring DeVito.

27 Jan 2026 19:06:46
Xabi all day. Im really hoping we move Slot on and employ Alonso as manager/ head coach. I think we will enjoy his style of play. YNWA.

27 Jan 2026 19:15:14
No way he dezerbes the Liverpool job.

27 Jan 2026 20:22:40
Rafael as interim.

XA for next season.

I'm mega biast though.

27 Jan 2026 20:29:46
Hold your hand out fatwallet let's see how old you are.

27 Jan 2026 20:54:59
Agreed Ron.

27 Jan 2026 21:15:56
Why don't we just go and get a proven trophy winner with good Premier League experience who can work well without money, organise teams and get te players playing for him?

Ooh You Are Awful Emery.

27 Jan 2026 21:49:26
Brilliant queen of scotty road.

27 Jan 2026 23:43:58
Xabi has it all, least not the conection with L4.
He is a deeply intelligent man with fantastic man management skills, and plays football that will suit the league.

Slot got lucky during a perfect storm - he's just another average Dutch manager who is incapable of running a giant club like ours.

28 Jan 2026 00:02:33
Ron Keague - Hughes is on his way out mate, and Iraola has no experience winning trophies. He's never done anything to prove he can handle a club like Liverpool.

28 Jan 2026 01:08:02
Alonso hasn't done anything to prove he can handle a club like Liverpool.
In fact Alonso turned the Liverpool job down previously and then got his chance at a big club and failed miserably.

Iraola hasn't had a chance at a club which challenges for trophies.
Alonso blew his big chance because his man management skills weren't up to the job.
Alonso has one one league title in Germany.
Slot has a league title in Holland and England.

If you think Hughes is going then that's news to me. Edwards favours Hughes. Unless you're going to turf Hughes and Edwards out and start again.
I think the board would think it's better to give Iraola a shot that he deserves.

28 Jan 2026 05:06:40
Did Xabi Alonso sleep with Ron's wife? That's the only explanation for such continued resistance despite multiple people explaining why he failed in Madrid.

28 Jan 2026 06:06:32
So Alonso won one Bundesliga and Klopp two but Alonso didn't do anything to prove he can manage a team like Liverpool. You spout some nonsense you really do.

28 Jan 2026 07:22:09
Ron mate, your opposition to Xabi is bizzare mate.

Explain how he failed miserably at Real? His win % was extremely high. The only thing he didn't manage to do was to get spoiled brat kn@b heads to work hard and take on board a culture of respect and his vision. That place is toxic and an embarrassment of an establishment with their behaviour. This is the club who actively as a whole abstained from the ballon dor ceremony when they realised they weren't going to win it. The club and the coach were ok with that? To lay that as a failure at his feet is extremely unfair. If you're not backed by the higher ups to change a culture, there's nothing you can personally do to make people who are kn@b heads, not be kn@b heads.

Then we move onto Neverkusen. That is the equivalent of someone coming in to manage spurs in our league and win the prem and FA cup undefeated all season and only to lose in a European final. If you don't think that is impressive then I can't help you and it's clearly a deeply entrenched bias that you're doubling down on.

28 Jan 2026 07:22:46
Point being that everyone thinking Alonso has some kind of magic wand that will get the current players playing so much better than Slot needs to wake up and step out of their Alonso fantasy.

28 Jan 2026 08:15:45
The point is WarMachine. Slot can better football than he currently is (we saw it last year, and against Madrid and Villa this year). But he's refusing to pivot to a style so clearly suits our squad much better and it will eventually cost him.

28 Jan 2026 11:26:16
Be a massive gamble but I've a feeling Fabregas would do well.

28 Jan 2026 11:36:36
Why is it so bizarre that Ron would have a different opinion? I think he's laid out his argument pretty well. Not saying I agree or disagree with him but it isn't bizarre to have a differing opinion especially when there is a logical substantive argument to support it.

28 Jan 2026 12:49:12
Being sacked after 8 months has to be considered a 'miserable' failure, even at Real.
He also lost to Slot's team, and his team were rubbish. Don't see much tactical genius that night.

28 Jan 2026 13:28:39
I think you need to rewatch the games from last year. We were scraping wins with mediocre performances because Salah and Diaz were on fire. We even stopped scraping wins from about April onwards. Without any game changers this year, the football is the same but we are losing.

You might also want to rewatch Klopp's last season where everyone was moaning about Linders slowing our football down to a snails pace and us conceding the first goal in 23 games. Many were blaming Klopp from stepping away from coachingbsaying he should go.

28 Jan 2026 13:36:11
That Madrid squad is made of some of the most toxic characters playing football today, Vinicius, Mbappe, Bellingham, Arnold among many others.

This is a squad that childishly and pathetically boycotted the Balon D'or because Vinicius wasn't going to win (as it was he didn't deserve it, hard to argue that Rodri didn't), the level of professional respect they have for anyone but themselves is a disgrace.

They'd downed tools as soon as Alonso started to demand they work and get fit. I certainly wouldn't hold that stint at Madrid against Alonso, in light of the fact that to a man, every single player in that squad is an absolute cretin of one variety or other who doesn't like being told to work.

His time at Leverkusen showed that he could take a team who'd never won a title (they're called neverkusen for a reason), had dragged them up from the relegation zone in his first season and made them top 6, then champions in his second and runners up in his third, he turned us down as he probably (and reasonably) felt he wasn't ready. And that's fine.

The fact he went to Madrid isn't related to that and as he's an ex Madrid player (and Spanish) when that call comes you'd be hard pressed to find a Spaniard who would refuse (unless they're Barcelona or Atletico fans).

The fact he had a group of complete see you next Tuesday's down tools on him and show nothing but disrespect isn't a reflection on him, but it is on them.

Anyone who's seen Mbappe leading the players off instead of following Alonso's request that they gave Barcelona a guard of honour can make their own minds up, but it's absolutely disgusting behaviour towards your manager.

The fact that the Madrid board backed the players is a disgrace and I'd imagine that Alonso will never take that poisoned chalice again.

We'd be silly not to appoint him as there is a lack of credible available alternatives and he's still a highly rated brilliant young manager. I'd imagine that Frimpong and Wirtz would be champing at the bit to work with him again.

{Ed025's Note - hard to argue with any of that Victor..

28 Jan 2026 14:49:05
Slot was sacked by AK with a 55.17% win rate Alonso with Real a 71.4% win rate.

28 Jan 2026 17:09:23
Iraola = Way too much risk
Alonso = Risky too but did well at Leverkusen
Enrique = Not without risk either, had done very well at PSG did rubbish before that and now has them playing way below par this season.

They all have their own risk profile, personally I would say Enrique, just over Xabi.

28 Jan 2026 17:16:54
Ron Keague - Absolute nonsense mate. Xabi was 4 points off Barcelona in 2nd place and only lost the job because of that pack of diva's in the dressing room. Madrid is a circus and everyone knows it. Calling 2nd place a failure is a joke and you know it. Any other club in the world wouldn't have dreamt of sacking him.

Alonso took a 17th placed Leverkusen to 6th and followed it up by winning the double in the first ever Bundesliga season long unbeaten run that saw them go 51 games without a loss.

Go ahead and tell me about how Iraola does well with mid level teams.

28 Jan 2026 17:48:23
Just playing devils advocate, but surely he knew what he was letting himself in for being Spanish and having played there. That club has been pretty toxic for ages, maybe the worst it's been but still…….

{Ed025's Note - i agree KNG..

28 Jan 2026 19:51:36
It's quite embarrassing reading what Ron is posting tbh.

29 Jan 2026 01:21:57
I appreciate your desire for success boys but Ron K is bang on.
So impatient man, actually bothers me the way people have become accustomed to success.

B1tch all u like, the man is right.

27 Jan 2026 15:30:20
Hi guys,

Not the news a lot of us wanted (myself included), but Slot stays (for now), is what I am told. As we all know things could change quickly but I expect him to be in charge midweek.

Cheers.

Agree4 Disagree0

27 Jan 2026 16:29:26
What gave it away? Was it him walking out to do the Champions League press conference?

27 Jan 2026 16:33:03
Alot of stuff being said about Slot but he has been left without a defence, new signings should of come in to help our back 4. A stable, strong defence can also win games.

27 Jan 2026 16:42:59
Of course he's going to be in charge midweek, there's no chance they sack him the day before a big European game. Thank goodness we have these ITK's to keep us in the loop.

27 Jan 2026 16:52:02
Who sold four centre backs and replaced them with one?

27 Jan 2026 16:55:37
Or he could have told Grav to stay back and play like he did last season when he was a top defensive midfielder. But instead he told him to get himself forward and to hell with helping the defense ?.

27 Jan 2026 17:08:52
Agreed Hero Heighway.

People need to revisit the title winning squad and this one. Yes on paper we all thought we were levelling up with Wirtz, Isak, new FBs and Ekitike. But take nothing away from what we lost:

Kelleher - Best back-up keeper maybe in Prem League history. Mamardashvili has been ok, but in the games he played I feel Kelleher would have given more confidence to the defence.

TAA - love him or loathe him the best creative ball-playing RB of a generation. Ours have been injured all season basically.

Quansah - Had prem experience and was always available, replaced by Leoni who is unfortunately crocked.

Jota - no more need said

Nunez and Diaz - yes have been replaced but one has been constantly injured and our LW is light. Gakpo was a great foil for Diaz but as our only starting LW is inept.

Not to mention the likes of having Elliot and Morton in the squad.

The squad is light. Slot wanted to replacements, they didn't come. He wanted a replacement for Diaz and it didn't happen. Guehi should have happened and it didn't. Semenyo was wanted by Slot regardless of what people say.

Regardless of what people think, he has not been backed and this window has been a shambles. The squad lacks the depth we had last year and if they are backing him until summer, then they should have helped him in January with his squad.

Hughes did some great business over the summer, but he has left us light.

All those saying Slot should speak out, look what happens when you do Maresca, Amorim. He is toeing the line, but he is not happy at not being backed.

27 Jan 2026 18:04:10
@Endo, putting aside the fact that Slot doesn't have responsibility for transfers, who were the 4 first team squad CBs that were sold sold?

27 Jan 2026 18:21:22
Hughes ego got carried away. Yes we needed the players we bought in, but these ex players who do not have managerial or tactical acumen get caught up in a championship manager type reality.
We lost a lot of graft and endevour.

Flo is doing what needs to be done to get up to speed and he'll flourish under a manager that knows how to get the best out of him, but what a mess the rest is.

The contract situation is not great. We need Doml Grav and Jones to renew.

We'll need to replace 3 generational, world class talents (Isak likely won't fill that void due to injuries and other issues).

We will need 4 x new defenders at this rate.

Alonso is going to want to put his stamp on the side and not accept what Edwards and Hughes want.

27 Jan 2026 18:37:26
Hero Heighway - We were rubbish before we had any major concerns over the defence. Va Dijk and Konate have remained fit and we've had the full back positions covered reasonably adequately one way or another. It's not ideal but saying there's no defence and using that as an excuse to cover for Slots completely ineffective tactics is absolute nonsense.

27 Jan 2026 18:37:51
Jarell Quansah, Nat Phillips, Sepp van den Berg and Billy Koumetio. If you're saying Slot has no input in transfers that's nonsense.

27 Jan 2026 20:01:09
Slot should have and never has changed the Formation to compensate for a lack of defenders and loss of form reference Ibou, Virgil Van Disney! (another two goal assists at the weekend)

I don't see any four better wing backs in the PL than Bradley, Frimpong, Kerkez, Robbo who had circa 3 less goal assists than when TAA was at the club, ideal for a back three.

3-4-3 never tried?
3-5-2 never tried?
3-4-2-1 never tried?

And also playing on current form this season the best midfielder in the PL at Right Back? sums Slot up ideally, you don't strengthen your defence by weakening the most important part of any team the Midfield?

Tomorrow night will also show even more how inadequate his forward thinking is, and foresight and most of all his footballing brain/ acumen?

Every UCL side that took part in last season's UCL 24-25 league format stage that had Five wins qualified for the knock out stage (Bayern only had 5 wins also), in fact every side that had only Four wins in the league format also qualified for the knock out stage, indeed last seasons winners of the UCL PSG only had Four wins in the UCL format W4,D1,L3.

The motto of the story being you can rest all your top eggs for the last three games of the UCL league format, no wonder Slot said we tired towards the end of the season, we played our strongest team in every UCL league format while all the top European sides were ridiculing us for being so blind?

After Five wins the top european clubs put their feet up, and played weakened sides for the last games, and laughed at Slot for going full pelt right to the end of the UCL league format!

They were 3 extra games for nothing, we could have also had season ending injuries (similar to Leoni) in those 3 dead rubber games? which we could also suffer tomorrow by Slot playing his strongest side possible?

To vindicate/ highlight the above even more man city, juventus, celtic all qualified for the knock out phase play offs only with only three wins in the league format from eight games played.

We currently have 5 Wins in the UCL, so there is no reason whatsoever for playing your strongest side tomorrow night and this also should have allowed to START Ekitike last weekend, and save him for the weekend PL game versus Newcastle Saturday Night 8.00pm Kick Off, if he plays Ekitike even as a Sub tomorrow, Hugo BOSS should be at home resting tomorrow night for us to try and obtain UCL qualification next year for our new Manager!

I would like Amorim till the end of the season ASAP, he joined Manchester United on the 11 November 2024 circa 14 months later his team not Carricks are above us, the club was in a mess: the Greenwood fiasco, all the VERY bad players he got rid off Hoijlund, Sancho, Player power Rashford, bum GK Onana, Garnacho, Eriksen, Antony, bean pole Wieghorst, wan bissaka, Lindelof etc all in 14 months a job done equivalent to what Jurgen had to do after Rodgers, Joe Allen, Ballotelli, Borini etc.

He also like Jurgen in his first season took Manchester United to the Europa Final last year circa 6 months after first joining the club late November Slot had two PL games versus amorim one draw, one loss at Anfield this season, Amorim for me has a fabulous football pedigree, but more than that a footballing brain, and great coach reference Nuno Mendes at Sporting Lisbon, arguably now the best LB in the world.

I "Thank the Lord" that Manchester United very foolishly sacked him, as with the right backing he will create a football dynasty whichever top club offers him the role of Manager only, not just a coach in his words!

We will have missed a "thoroughbred racehorse" for our current cart horse in footballing terms? The only Solace he won't do it at old toilet.

27 Jan 2026 20:21:23
The club is aware of how the fans feel but pay little attention to it. Changes will be made but at the right time and in the right way.

27 Jan 2026 21:25:49
Endo.
I agree we needed cb reinforcements at the beginning of the season. Buying isak instead of a first team starter did strike me as odd at the time (but maybe jota made them change their plans).

However Koumetio was never going to play for us. He was ordinary to say the least.
Leoni in the 70 odd minutes he played for us showed he was a significant upgrade on quansah. If it wasn't for his injury I reckon he would've displaced konate by now. We apparently have a buyback on quansah but the fact we haven't activated it suggests they don't think he is worth it.
And selling nat and sepp (who wanted to leave to be a starter) who weren't getting minutes was a no brainer particularly because everyone thought Guehi was coming in the door (til glasner churcked his toys out of the pram).

27 Jan 2026 22:32:57
The degree of Konate and VVDs drop off in form was fairly unpredictable, although Konate often had bad spells in previous seasons when he was returning from injury.

The elements that were predictable were Connors injuries, Jos injuries, and that Robbos legs have virtually gone. So whichever way we look at it the defensive depth just wasn't ever likely to be there this season.

I think they took a calculated risk on it, were going to complete phase two of the defensive rebuild this summer, and thought any deficiencies would be compensated for by free scoring Isak and Wirtz, and Salah. The lack of return from those three has been as much of a problem for us as the defence this season.

I won't even mention the midfielders who are misfiring. That's just been the icing on top.

27 Jan 2026 23:11:12
I have blamed VVD for two of the three goals v Bournemouth but also in his defence the man has had to play nearly every game over the last several seasons and to me looks fatigued he looks mentally exhausted physically burnt out .

The man needs a rest for a few weeks but we can not give him the break because the suits sat on their hands and we are short of center backs and Arne has to pick him .

28 Jan 2026 05:44:38
Endo by name eh?

Love the list

Quansah, taken off at half time in the first PL game of 24/ 25. Only played in 2 more PL games. The club didn't rate him based on having worked with the lad from his joining the club as a 7 year old.

Phillips: total appearances for Liverpool was 29 (20 of which were in the 20/ 21 season). Last appearance Jan 2023

Van Den Berg: wanted to leave. Total number of appearances for Liverpool - 4 in 19/ 20 in the FA and League cups - never made a PL appearance in 6 years at the club

Koumetio made two appearances for Liverpool - CL game in Dec 20 and a league cup game in 21. Never played a PL game for the club

You are correct that the club sold them but it is also correct that Leoni has played in more games for Liverpool since 2022 than Phillips, VdB and Kometio combined over the past 3+ years.

I bow to someone who believes they recognise nonsense and, seemingly, as a genuine master of nonsense, knows his stuff.

Also, if you read carefully what I wrote, I didn't say that Slot doesn't have an opinion on which players we buy or sell. Of course he does but he doesn't have final decision making authority - that resides with Hughes.

Anyway, like I say Endo by name….

28 Jan 2026 09:37:38
007, Amorim is just as inflexible as Slot seems to be.

26 Jan 2026 18:24:56
So all I have been able to gather from this afternoons meeting, is very little to be honest.

Slot, Michael Edwards, and Billy Hogan attended, They basically sat down, and discussed the recent run of of form, and how Slot intends to change things going forward.

Apparently sour faces all around afterwards, but no mention of him being sacked yet.

But i've been told he doesn't have long to change things.

Agree20 Disagree0

26 Jan 2026 19:17:31
Odd. He should have been sacked by now, if we win mid week then draw against NUFC, get beat off City and draw against Sunderland we'll be saying the same thing - 'he doesn't have long to change things around'.
Cheers for the info Robbo.

26 Jan 2026 19:17:41
Thanks for the update Robbo.

26 Jan 2026 19:18:20
We've been listening to he hasn't long since before Christmas.

26 Jan 2026 19:20:33
Was Hughes not there?

26 Jan 2026 19:20:51
Absolutely ridiculous, I mean how is he still in a job. We are literally going to miss out on CL next season because they have no back bone and won't sack him. We are a joke right now.

26 Jan 2026 19:23:06
Thanks Robbo, do feel they will give him Wednesday nights game and depending how that goes. Possibly Newcastle but after then we don't play until Sunday. Time to remove Slot and get Alonso in?

I will certainly be watching how Slot is with the crowd after the game on Wednesday and Saturday, if he gets to that game.

26 Jan 2026 19:23:26
Nothings going to change, at least not in the league, I'd expect Newcastle and City to give us a slapping.

26 Jan 2026 19:25:05
Thanks Robbo
He should have gone in November.

26 Jan 2026 19:25:48
An absolute disgrace to keep giving him chances at this point.

26 Jan 2026 19:33:43
Well either Xabi is not ready to commit, or the club are considering other options. The obvious one being Luis Enrique who won't be available until the end of the season.

Therefore it's a case of Slot vs. a caretaker being the call right now. Personally, I don't see Slot changing what he's doing and therefore see little scope of turning it around.

But I don't have to make these decision and live with the consequences of them going badly, so it's easy for me to say, I guess.

26 Jan 2026 19:34:33
Well that was s waste of time. A meeting that ends with the plan to fall further behind CL qualification. Brilliant management.

26 Jan 2026 19:38:45
I'm speaking rhetorically here not directly to robbo.
What's there to "change"?.
Any wise man/ woman looks at what's transpired now for six months. Dreadful performances, mid table results and the same application every week now for months.
Key players significantly underperforming, no leadership shown anywhere on or off the pitch. What are we waiting on here?
A few lucky wins or an unlucky draw until yet again, we hit a spell of losses because we are awful? A season, future income and potential future signings are being thrown to the wind here.

Imo, if this season continues and finishes as with what we've had to endure now for six months, It would be justified in sacking those too who kept this misery ongoing.
Failure to sign another CB should warrant atleast Hughes seeing the door aswell.

26 Jan 2026 19:39:12
That's disappointing i have to say. not ypur rumour. the outcome.

I fear this season will be a write off. both man u and chelsea have made changes and reaped immediate responses.

Just feels we have learned nothing from past mistakes and this decision will set us back years with the new found money from CL and what it brings. let's not forget if we make Europe. Thursday Sunday games tend to be a season killer for most teams. unless you win it. 15 games to go. prob need 11 or 12 wins. way we are at the moment. not confident on getting 12 points!.

If fields predicted 5 games hunch comes to fruit. will be 10 games to will enough points be available to catch those above.

Just feels wrong. We can all see it. apart from. those who make the decisions.

26 Jan 2026 19:39:33
Thanks Robbo. Any info on the future of STC?

26 Jan 2026 19:48:40
Sounds not at all dysfunctional for a late Jan conversation after many months of poor form. Wonder if the subject of buying any defenders was raised.

26 Jan 2026 19:51:39
Thanks Robbo. Appreciate the info.

26 Jan 2026 19:55:06
No Hughes?

26 Jan 2026 19:57:30
No champions league next season then.

26 Jan 2026 20:10:00
I really can't see how they expect slot to change things when all season he's had multiple chances to change tactics, formation but all he does is the same old… us as fans can all see what needs changing so why not the people in charge, the longer they wait the further we will be from the top 4/ 5, just get Stevie G in until the summer and see where that takes us.

26 Jan 2026 20:27:37
Suspect the CL form is just about keeping him afloat right now. His form in the league is similar to how Amorim's was. He should be in big trouble and the excuses have to end. He simply needs to find a way to win in the PL.

26 Jan 2026 20:46:39
starting to wonder waiting till transfer window closes buy no one week or two in sack slot then say didn't want to sign players for him saving money for new coach?

26 Jan 2026 20:49:32
It's just negligence at this point if that is indeed true. I mean, how many meetings do you need? This whole situation has been handled horribly. Slot should have been sacked weeks ago and now United have found form, top 4 is in serious danger.

26 Jan 2026 20:51:15
Great news. 2 more weeks and 2 more losses in the league and we will be out the top 4 running. Weak leadership from the club here.

26 Jan 2026 21:27:51
This was just a regular meeting so not surprising no big news off the back of it. The situation tends to make you think they're taking collective responsibility for our problems.

I'd suspect eventually they may take action, and one or other of Arne or Richard would go, but it would take the crowd to turn probably or a run of losses for that to happen.

26 Jan 2026 21:31:50
Have seen the minutes of the meeting? Nobody knows anything.

26 Jan 2026 21:32:16
Just asking a question, would winning the Champions League change people's view on Slot? Let's say a 5th or even 6th place finish and Champions League trophy come May. Do we still sack him?

26 Jan 2026 21:52:06
Well let's hope he turns things around and we go on a unbeaten run with just wins now on.

Alonso can then come in the summer. Football has been shocking from liverpool after the amount of money spent. however the other 2nd, 3rd 4th and 5th places have been only better.

26 Jan 2026 22:09:15
JohnnyNo6, Slot can't get us to beat Burnley, Forest or Leeds, I'd suggest the champions league is way beyond the limit or his ability.

26 Jan 2026 22:15:50
There is no way we will the CL. I don't know why people think this is a real possibility.

26 Jan 2026 22:22:41
Thankfully Burnley, Forest and Leeds don't play in the Champions League. To win the Champions League you probably need to beat teams like Real Madrid, Inter or Atletico Madrid.

26 Jan 2026 22:22:41
Theory (don't shoot me) : I deal with a lot of companies with overseas owners, sometimes they defer decisions until representatives of the parent company are in the UK. And I wonder if FSG are looking at the whole set-up* with utter dismay and are going to deal with it in one visit.

Can't see us not beating Carrierbag, but if Newcastle come at us with attitude we could be in for a 3-4 and more pressure piling on from next Sunday.

*it's been such a clusterfk that surely Hogan, Edwards and Hughes are all under scrutiny as well? How can you spend this much money and be as bad as Brentford or Fulham? Takes some doing that!

26 Jan 2026 22:29:05
The hill I'll die on. Gerrard and a half decent assistant manager will do better for us currently than slot.

26 Jan 2026 23:05:57
It's funny how people keep giving our owners smarts as if they understand fans and how the club should proceed. They've a history of incompetence and everyone trusts they'll do the right thing. They'll do things that suit them not the general consensus.

27 Jan 2026 01:06:36
Although i do not defend fsg in everything they have done, we are in a completely different stratosphere to where we was under hicks n gillet. Also they have backed AS with in excess of 400m in the oast summer, totally unheard of in their tenure, if not ever in our history. What has let them down is maybe being slow to recognise that our manager has a seriously inflated ego from last year.

Yes we won the title with relative ease, however, this relied mainly on muscle memory and fitness levels from JKs reign, this season with lots of new players that wasnt in the JK teams, they would have different levels of fitnes to rely on in comparison.

AS has fIMO ignored this basic fact, has relied on a less fitness based regime and allowed our team to be slow/ complacent/ lazy this season and has in fact been found out. Its all well and good last season bringing on subs that had been trained to the nth degree physically, but now he is having to rely on subs trained by his relaxed and lazy coavhes, they do not have the same impact, nor does the first team have the energy levels of previous seasons to rely on and claw any defecits back.

This is where i feel fsg have been a little amiss ion not seeing this sooner and taking action.

I also feel a little (not much) sympathy for higher ups i. e. edwards n hughes.

Last summer was a dream team transfer window, however, after the players was brought in, AS had decided that the tactics from the year begore was no longer relevent and implemented his own style which none of the new players, or the stars we had, were used to the new playing style that was expected of them.

At no point did i ever see slot argue against the signings even if they did not fit with the way he wanted to play.

He needs to go now and if in any way possible bring XA and allow him the remaining months of the season to evaluate what he wants/ needs ready to go into next season, the least we should be targetting is CL qualification, i just don't see AS getting us it unless he wins it, then i still think he needs to go

sorry for long rant but im old, not a new shiny toy fan either, like a lot of you, been supporting since the 70's lol.

27 Jan 2026 01:38:52
STEVIE! Get your suit pressed son! It's nearly time!

27 Jan 2026 02:19:38
Frode our owners have consistently backed the squad, managers and players, over a long tenure, they do it in a methodical way and don't make rash decisions.
£450m in one summer, though the signings have been poor, I still see Isak bouncing back, Wirtz coming good, Ekitike has been great already (though they all need to up their fitness)
I am happy FSG run our club.

27 Jan 2026 02:21:52
Are you putting forward the preposterous idea that the owners of the club actually make decisions about their club? That really is ground ridiculous @Frode.

Getting the club into a position of winning the PL twice in 6 years, the CL and the World Club Championships. Hiring Jurgen and, yes, Slot who won the PL in his first season, the improvements to Anfield and the raining centre and repurchasing of Melwood as a dedicated training centre for the Women's team.

The owners see the club as a business asset and being businessmen they want to maximise the (financial) potential of their asset. In doing so they need to ensure that the team wins things. In order for the owners to increase profit and future resale value they need to ensure that the club maximises all revenue streams with a major stream being the team winning the PL, CL, etc. how hard is that to understand?

27 Jan 2026 04:42:38
So those in charge are asking the 1 guy, who doesn't want to change his style, how he is going to change our fortunes

They have now kicked the can down the road again, which is now a downhill, and the can is getting away from them.

Our league form is garbage. It won't get better because he won't change his style. He's proven time and again that he won't change it.
So top 4, as it stands, is in serious danger.

We now have to win the CL.
Good luck on that one.

27 Jan 2026 06:45:12
We are 100% not finishing top 5 at this rate. So we should take a gamble on a change, nothing to lose!

27 Jan 2026 07:48:57
I wonder if they just shag off each other in these meetings and call it a day. Cuz nothing ever comes out of these so called meetings. Just sea men these folks.

27 Jan 2026 08:21:09
So nobody's happy but nobody's doing anything about it. Great.

27 Jan 2026 08:30:35
@WDW a raining centre is all well and good but what about the wind?

27 Jan 2026 09:28:02
We as fan need to stop being impatient and let the owners make a decision which is best for the club. Alonso may be assembling his support team and may not be ready to take on the role straight away, he may be evaluating the squad and making notes how best to develop the team to suit his style.

With the current injury crisis and lack of fitness, would any other Interim coach do better than Slot?

27 Jan 2026 09:35:11
Don't know what kind of meeting you go to Cafu but doubt they are minuted.

27 Jan 2026 10:51:56
The owners may want to jump straight to Alonso without an interim, in which case there is probably some complication with settlement from RM, I understand this could be affected should he take a new position within a certain degree of time. Alonso also needs time to assemble his team to come in and there may be complication there or timing etc.

The meeting could well of been, AS is manager until the last game of the season, let try and go out on a high. They won't be making in public knowledge until all the full arrangements are in place.

27 Jan 2026 11:02:29
Well Slot's idea to start off slowly then build up to kick in the second half of the season .
I think Slot has forgotten to tell the players the second half of the season has come and gone.

Does anyone think the meeting today was to discuss the low block and the strong winds and that nasty Stevie Gerrard being nasty to Arne YNWA.

27 Jan 2026 14:16:35
Amazing how many people ignored the question if they would still hate on Slot if he won the Champions League.

Only one person said about not beating Burnley but alluded to the fact we have already beaten Real Madrid (managed by none other than the messiah Xabi Alonso everyone is so desperate for). We also went to the Marseille notoriously difficult to play at and won comfortably.

Also beat Milan away and destroyed Frankfurt and beat Athletico Madrid.

But no one wants to remember this and will focus on the loss to PSV more.

Carragher is right that the disrespect thrown at Slot is unreal.

No one thought Benitez and his merry-men of misfits would win the Champions League and they did. No one thought Di Matteo would win anything at Chelsea, and he won the Champions League.

I understand all the gripes, but, and yes it is still a big BUT, if we were able to secure the Champions League this season will you all still be calling for his head come May?

27 Jan 2026 15:33:56
Yes johnny id still want him gone

He is a terrible manager
Stubborn in his ways
Disrespectful to the club

Put it this way if and hopefully when he does go are the likes of Madrid Citeh Bayern or Barce going to be competing for his signature.

27 Jan 2026 16:02:49
Jonny, I understand the point you are trying to get to, and yes if Slot was able to win the Champions League it would be difficult to imagine Slot not staying on. However, being realistic, that doesn't seem likely at this point in time. We have had better results and performances in the CL but even there, the performances haven't been anything I could say we could hang our hat on, as we still have moments of vulnerability that carries over from the league form, and in a match up over two legs, I think the moments we face in league will be more prevalent than the CL league format.

There is always a chance we win it, like Rafa and Di Matteo, but this situation feels more like Di Matteo, where we stick with Slot, if he won it, and would be facing the same questions mid-way through next season. Slot has struggled this year with the team and setting us up in a system that suits the players and from the outside looking in, his man management has been sub-par at best. I have sympathy for him in not getting all the profiles he would have liked to help the overall squad but he ignores the chances to give anyone bar Rio a chance from the U21's.

Keeping Slot in place feels more like a Di Matteo or Ten Hagg moment, where it is clear to see we are struggling but relying on singular games to cling to for hope when the record tells you the real story. Too many games we see the same type of football and no change to what we are doing. One thing that stands out to me, one of many but winds me up in particular, is the moment Gakpo gets the ball. He has come under scrutiny this season and I am in that same boat, but as a coach who wants to play him, there just seems to be little done to maximize his strengths. When he cuts back inside, I feel, we should see players peel off to attack the back post so he can whip it in, someone show to the ball to bounce it off so he can have a shot in a better area, runners going in behind to drag defenders back to open up the shot. I don't see this, at least consistently, which suggests to me that we don't have plan in the final third, more hope than expectation at times.

I also think the dig at Alonso is harsh, I think his overall time as a coach of Leverkusen and short time at Real gives me belief he is the right man to take us forward. Regardless of the shape he plays, I think his principles and structure off the ball is what we lack the most. He wants his teams to press high to win the ball and force mistakes. The job at Real was going well up until the 2-1 win vs Barca, then Vini Jr threw a strop and things snowballed. I don't think any appointment can be guaranteed, just ask Man United, but I feel a change is important as I just don't see anything since the loss to Man City to suggest things can turn around for the better.

27 Jan 2026 16:16:12
I don't think many people on here 'hate' slot, a lot of people on here see that he isn't right for liverpool, that doesn't take away from what he has acheived, a PL in the first season is fantastic and most fans appreciate that. We can also see that we have not progressed this season and we have taken a massive step backwards, maybe we will win the CL but that is a long way off and we are no way near that so you cannot really take that into account, we should be beating everyone except the top teams.

27 Jan 2026 17:21:48
I get the point, but ultimately he hasn't been given the squad to utilise like he should.

I am not bemoaning injuries but the players bought in are only starting to come good, and that is because they are starting to understand the league and what we need.

Wirtz and Frimpong look so much recently.

Kerkez is starting to understand the pressure of playing a top team.

Ekitike has been our only consistent.

Mamardashvili was a drop in terms of experience from Kelleher.

Leoni is injured and was Quansah's replacement, who actually had prem experience and was reliably available.

Macca and Grav have fallen off, but Szobo is on a different level and same as Jones.

Gakpo, I love, but yes his move is obvious. He cuts inside. He was an alternative to Diaz so teams didn't know how to set-up. We don't have that. Rio is promising but no Diaz.

It certainly hasn't been great, but I like to give someone the opportunity to prove themself before throwing them under a bus. I think Hughes and board have to be questioned more on why they didn't back him. Semenyo and Guehi were both on our list and we let them go. Had they signed January 1st I believe we would be in a very different position.

27 Jan 2026 18:55:37
Winning, of course, is the most important thing. But, beyond that, I think Liverpool is maybe a little bit unique insofar as the extent to just how much it matters to us that the manager embrace the culture, history, and identity of the club, city, and supporters. We're not really satisfied unless we've got the next Shanks or Paisley at the helm. We had that with Kenny and we had that with Klopp. We even had it to some extent with Rafa. We just don't with Slot though.

What's rankled me about him from the start is the feeling that, at the end of the day, it's just a job for him. Maybe it's just him being laconic, but it doesn't seem like he truly loves the club in the way that I want him to. Maybe, in this day and age, that's an unrealistic expectation, but I can't help but demand it nonetheless.

I think the thing that's got us so excited about Xabi, beyond his attractive brand of football, is that he's a club legend, and we already know that he'll bleed for us.

Galatasaray from the Mighty Turkey (possibly the strongest league in the World? LMAO) had not won a HOME game in the UCL since 2017-2018, till Slot turned up this season?

But it wasn't the Wind this time, the crowd was whistling and jeering us? he should have been instantly sacked after that post match conference, like last Saturday's Wind excuse!

Just tell the Truth Arne, you are not good enough for Liverpool Football Club and never will be.
