Hey Ed's loving this end of season playing every 3/ 4 days and every game means something regardless of if we win 4 trophies or just the 1 it's great being in the mix. I'd love 1 of the big ones if I'm honest tho

What are the positions we are looking at for the summer am I correct in saying midfield is the priority
Followed by right full back and another attacker to fill the shoes of divo and taki (is this carvalho )

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will need RB cover, an addition in midfield, RW cover as TM and AOC will likely leave. If there are major departures then perhaps more.}

1.) 02 May 2022 12:15:12
Calvin Ramsay would get a great apprenticeship at LFC, and if he is joining, Gomez must be doing the off, which is a shame as he has looked very good in the RB position of late.
Taki would be best served moving to a less physical league, and is surely worth 15m.
Ox-thanks for the memories, but his time is done with the reds. 25m though please.
Naby-a year left to prove he can be consistent, Milner, one more year max before a coaching role beckons imo.

2.) 02 May 2022 11:23:06
Could these be solved with Neco comming back to cover RB and Elliott for RW cover? Do you think the addition for midfield will be Carvalho, or could someone in the lines of Tchouameni be a possiblitiy? Are they looking for a versatile midfielder or a 10, 8 or 6?

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Neco Williams to leave. Elliott can provide cover on the wing but with Salah his opportunities will be limited and if Salah leaves he will be replaced. They will be looking for another midfield player other than Carvalho, ideally someone versatile.}

3.) 02 May 2022 14:09:20
Ramsay would be excellent and for £3 million it’s a no brainier!

4.) 02 May 2022 15:59:13
We won't sell Ox, we will ask for too much and end up keeping him till he's gone for free. Just my prediction there of course. Signing Ramsay would be a big kick in the nuts for that young lad Bradley is it? He hasn’t put a foot wrong, nor has Gomez who I would much prefer to stay, even another year of Milner who is adequate emergency RB. I wouldn’t feel comfortable if the next RB option is a young guy who has only played in low pressure low quality scottish league, especially when we have given chances to someone who is already here and done fine. The total costs of bringing him here to play a bit part for a couple years whilst unable to displace Trent would surely be better spent elsewhere? Maybe it does mean Gomez is a player we feel we will sell to get some good money in but even then we would need a more proven back up RB, just my opinion of course, let's hope the club are proved right again!

5.) 02 May 2022 18:25:01
Bradley could likely do with a loan . Ramsay would be coming to be turned into a top player/ profit, like tsimi, who surely will eventually move on at a huge profit. In the mean time he gets a world class education .

6.) 02 May 2022 18:39:25
Ramsay is a better player at 18 so why would it be a kick in the nuts?

7.) 02 May 2022 22:20:58
If ox and origi leaves this year, we’re basically missing 5/ 10 games a season. With 5 forwards vying for 3 spots, all of whom are class, then there is limited space. Then midfield of Thiago hendo Milner Keita fabinho Elliot and Jones - sounds enough on paper.

However with Milner barely playing until recently, and seemingly klopp not feeling ready to trust Elliot or Jones in the biggest games, I have a feeling one may go out on loan - I’d pick Jones myself (with the idea that he does come back into the picture when Milner goes) . That gives space for me for one creative midfielder, who can play in a theee or wide forward if needed (like ox) with Milner Henderson and most of the traditional 3 getting on, it should be a young gun, hopefully.

Rb cover - Gomez has done well for me, and adds a more defensively assured option than Trent - and of course can play cb when needed.
Given we are playing twice a week, and minamino hasn’t even got on, not sure he even does need replacing. Having a deep squad but not overstacked gives opportunities for the youth to step in.

8.) 02 May 2022 20:16:57
Cheers Ed
Surely if Leeds are relegated raphinha for the right wing cover would make the most sense . Left footed knows the league has pace and can improve further seems like an lfc signing .
Aoc needs to go he’s a top lad and great player and character but not what we need now in the squad I feel we need a more defensive midfielder over any other type unless klopps comments on Henderson in the 6 position from the weekend is the way we are going next season?
Exciting times .
If mason mount was available I’d be all over that deal as I think he could bring that link from midfield to attack we sometimes lack when playing against the low block.

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha is unrelated to Leeds being relegated.}

9.) 02 May 2022 23:48:35
On the subject of RB / RCB and assuming Neco is off two things

Wouldn’t we want to see if Joe wants to stay and if Sepp Van den Berg goes well in pre-season. Potentially we will have Trent, Sepp and young Bradley to play on the right side if defence with Joe and Sepp also covering the right centre back position and Trent, Sepp and perhaps Bradley to play in a more forward right wing back role as required?

Secondly why would Ramsey have any different career path than Neco? I’ve never watched the lad play so can’t say for certain but he would have to be extremely special to shift Trent from the starting spot. Whilst it might be nice for us to have another promising option it might not best serve the career of the young lad. And, with due respect to the Scottish premier league it isn’t quite up to the standard of the English PL, so perhaps reports of the lad’s abilities might be a bit ‘rose tinted’ - not saying that’s definitely the case, just that it might be.

I’d also say I’m not a scout / talent spotter either so it’s possible that I might be talking out of my posterior 😁.

10.) 03 May 2022 03:36:48
From what i've seen of Bradley he desperately needs a loan to get the game time to be decent cover. His reading of the game is poor and he tends to neglect the defensive side of things in favour of attack. Both things which regular gametime could address.

11.) 03 May 2022 08:22:56
Ramsey young player of the year in Scotland, meant to be a huge talent! Who's to say he can't shift Trent as our No.1 rightback one day?

12.) 03 May 2022 08:24:24
The key is winning trophies. Fergie kept very good players happy on bench due to it. Does Joe want to play every week or play now and again and have a cabinet full of big trophies and a stack of cash. Only he can decide.

Personally I’d rather stack squad full of the very best talent as long as they are happy enough with their lack of game time.

Would you all really want Bradley as RB for these last 10 potentially history defining games if Trent was injured or Joe? City wouldn’t accept it and neither should we if we want to compete for the big ones.

13.) 03 May 2022 09:08:00
Ramsay will be a star I’m an Aberdeen man and watch him weekly.

14.) 03 May 2022 09:15:51
@1jj - that’s what we have - a squad that is content with the party they play.

As we’ve discussed on here before, these days transfers tend to be the ‘whole person’ rather than just the ‘football player’. If Ramsey has the right character, attitude, talent and potential then he might well be someone the club would want.

Just as an aside, as things currently stand, if TAA was abducted by aliens who would we have to play at right back? Gomez, Milner and Bradley perhaps?

15.) 03 May 2022 10:38:35
£25million for Ox 😂😂😂😂.

16.) 03 May 2022 19:37:52
Apart from us signing Jude and Nunez I don’t see any other incomings.

17.) 04 May 2022 11:58:24
Wouldn't Gomez be considered cover for RB? He can play virtually any of the back 4 positions, can't he?

{Ed002's Note - I don't think so, they have already started to try and get a player in that position as I have previously explained.}

18.) 05 May 2022 09:07:24
Sorry Ed if I have missed it but can You or have you advised us on who we are looking at for the RB cover please?

{Ed002's Note - Calvin Ramsay (RB/RM) has attracted Premier League and Serie A scouts to Aberdeen with declared interest from Bologna, Sassuolo, Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester United.}

29 Jan 2022 08:34:35
Diaz looks a player thought it when we played Porto both legs if anything was going to come it was from him .
If we get it over the line looks a great addition

Not seen much of carvalho from Fulham but see us being heavily linked to him

Obviously raphinha at Leeds has been linked aswell but obviously that would mean departures

But my question to the Ed's is could you see the club replacing mane and Bobby in the summer also maybe offload minamino and origi to free up their wages and reinvest in a raphinha and Diaz and also save the wages which would equate to salahs wage increase and look to introduce Gordon aswell .

Probably made all that up in my head and it will be a sad day when any of that original front 3 depart as for a season or 2 they where unstoppable.

Dhfc

1.) 29 Jan 2022 09:46:59
Rtp lol
Nah, the general info is that yes the club will look to rebuild/ refresh the squad over the coming windows.

2.) 29 Jan 2022 13:53:24
I reckon we'll see Minamino, Origi and one of Firmino/ Mane all leave in the next 6 months and the other of Firmino / Mane leave the summer after so would not be surprised to see more attackers come in after Diaz.

3.) 29 Jan 2022 15:22:25
GK 2nd choice incoming only if Kehlleher leaves.
Else Adrian and Karius out.

DEF
N. williams leaving may force hand for a RB.
Else sell Matip if Phillips is still here and we are good.

MID
Most changes should happen here.
Fab Hendo Jones and Elliot plus one of Keita OX and Thiago to stay.
Milner and 2 of above 3 to be replaced by Bissouma/ Keisse and Carvalho

FWD
Origi Mina and one or 2 of Mane and Firmino to leave.

Diaz, and some one on free like Dybala to join.

The above will in my opinion will be very strong squad.

4.) 29 Jan 2022 17:38:24
Is Kelleher looking to leave?
Agreed summer has to be midfield sorted as that’s in the worst shape out of all departments in the squad . Thinking back to the Chelsea game when we wer 2-0 up with 5 mins to half time and our midfield (mostly hendo) are pinging pointless balls up top was the point in which I realised we need more control and discipline in that area and energy and work rate just aren’t enough these days .

{Ed0666's Note - Thiago?

5.) 29 Jan 2022 18:01:11
I don’t think we have an issue in midfield when all are fit and available. Fabs, Hendo and Thiago as starters with Jones, Naby, Elliott, Milly, Ox, Morton to come in when needed gives us decent options.
I’d say the only time we’ve struggled is when a few of those aren’t available and recently we’ve had Naby, Elliott and Ox (he’s had to fill in up front) unavailable with Jones only just coming back from a lay off.
We could certainly do with cover for Fabs as we really miss him when he’s out but possibly Morton could learn to do that job.
I love buying shiny new players as much as anyone but it’s not as necessary as some would have you believe.

6.) 29 Jan 2022 18:11:09
Bhav_reds, I broadly agree but Dybala will be far from free and, at 28, is not really a long term replacement for any of the front 3, being less than 2 years younger than them.
I think any further attacking options would be better if they were 25 or below. Would be ideal if we had a new front 3 set for 3-5 seasons like the current trio have been.

7.) 29 Jan 2022 18:34:15
I think that’s the problem Becker’s they can’t stay fit that’s why I nearly choked when we were linked with sanches
Henderson worries me his leadership qualities are brilliant but at times in games recently he seems to be the weak link
Which I thought I’d never say as he’s always been a firm favourite of mine and always a 8/ 10

Let’s hope it’s just because of the volume of games and the sickness he had and he proves me wrong 👍🏻.

8.) 29 Jan 2022 18:08:20
Agreed Ed Thiago is the man to bring this when fit but we will be lucky to get 20 games a season out of him

Same with naby

I understand injuries are part of the game and some people are just unlucky but them 2 seem to not put a run of games together at all

Tyler Morton when he grows in to his body will be real player and I’m excited to see what career that lad has

Cheers Ed.

{Ed0666's Note - you’re right about Thiago I wish he wasn’t made of Wotsits because he is a game changer. Not sure about Morton mate I don’t have the same confidence in him as you. I don’t think he’ll be at Liverpool long term.

9.) 29 Jan 2022 19:57:55
Thiago played 30 times for us last season despite being knee capped and having C.V., and has already played 14 this season. He averaged about 40 a season for 6 years before we signed him.

He's injury prone, but it isn't half exaggerated. I personally think he is just so good that it sticks in peoples minds when he's missing and feels like longer than it really is.

10.) 29 Jan 2022 21:20:28
MK you really like Thiago and as such are sticking up for him. Thiago has played as many poor games as good ones since his move to Liverpool and what do you mean he has already played 14 times? Likes it’s a lot. There is only just over 3 months of the season left. Thiago is on north of £200k a week and has not come anywhere close to justifying his wages.

11.) 29 Jan 2022 21:57:25
I agree eds, Morton isn't good enough imo.

{Ed0666's Note - I really hope he proves me and you wrong tho. Best feeling in the world when a kid from the academy makes it in the Liverpool first team. We’ll May e not the best feeling in the world but you know what I mean 😂

12.) 30 Jan 2022 01:55:01
Who knows with Morton. Klopp seems to rate him as can be seen by giving him so many chances this season so I have faith. You can definitely tell the difference when Klopp is grooming a youth player for the first team and using them as stop-gaps and I definitely feel Morton falls into the former camp. We can't expect every youth player to be as good as TAA but that doesn't mean they're not worth developing. Maybe he will just be a solid rotational squad player and if he is it will be an alround success. There were enough players in Fergie's beloved class of 92 who were nothing special talentwise who went on to become important players for him.

13.) 30 Jan 2022 02:08:51
If you are going to dream of Dybala on a free please dream big and make it Mbappe.

14.) 30 Jan 2022 04:54:50
All of Salah, Mane and Firmino are 29 or 30 so makes sense to be phasing in some players into the front line over the next couple of years, especially since Origi and Minamino don’t look likely to step up into first team starters.

I think a front line of Diaz, Jota, Salah, Mane is likely in next year or two with maybe Elliott and Kaide getting more minutes as Salah/ Mane get on into the mid 30’s.

The midfield is a tricky one too with Milner, Hendo and Thiago getting on a bit and questions over Naby Keita and Ox continuing. In a year or two’s time we’re going to have to see some incoming talent to back up Hendo/ Thiago and able to play alongside Fabinho and Curtis Jones.

15.) 30 Jan 2022 06:50:21
Morton is 18 - he is just a kid who did a job when he was called on to play. He doesn’t compare to the best in the world yer because he hasn’t started shaving yet. Let’s hold until he makes it into his 20’s eh?

16.) 30 Jan 2022 10:42:44
I’m with you west derby
When he gets his man body I think he will be a real player
Disappointed to see people say he’s not good enough after 5/ 6 showings for us

Hopefully he proves his worth over the coming years seems a nice grounded lad aswell.

17.) 30 Jan 2022 11:34:02
I hope he does prove a success but not convinced. Got the feel of a few others that had high hopes but fell short.

18.) 30 Jan 2022 13:52:12
Thiago is an excellent player. But for me his injury record is not exaggerated. He’s averaged less than 20 league starts per season for the past 6.5 years. Not once in his career has he started 30 league games and only twice has he started more than 25.

Any player who is averaging 1 start in every 2 league games is injury prone. Does appear he’s not someone we can rely on for a whole season.

19.) 30 Jan 2022 15:06:32
I agree Reyrey. He's never had a full season in him. I look at him as more of a luxury when he's available rather than someone you can rely on.

23 Jan 2022 07:13:57
Brilliant reading as always the Ed's

We have an ageing squad midfield and attack more concerning than the defence

Can you tell us what the plan with Milner is as he's a great addition to the squad and is great to have around the lads but How long can he keep playing for and is their plans or ambition from him and the club to join the coaching staff

Cheers.

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any plan for him - perhaps one more year if he wants it?}

1.) 23 Jan 2022 21:37:41
Cheers Ed

He’s been a great player for the club so maybe deserves another season 👌🏻.

{Ed002's Note - Priorities will be the driver.}

04 Jan 2022 08:49:08
Ed's

Do you see a bit a
Of a mass clear out of the club in the summer?
As things stand out 1st 11 can give anyone a game on their day but as a squad (particularly midfield) we are lacking for a real title challenge
Can we expect a lot of sales as their are a few that aren't up to it no more.

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know what a "bit of a mass clear out" is.}

1.) 04 Jan 2022 09:40:08
Why a mass clear out? We have a great squad, a mass clear out will equal transition, do it bit by bit.

2.) 04 Jan 2022 10:27:13
Perhaps not a mass clear out as such but there is a significant amount of players who’s contracts run out in the next 18mths. Decisions are going to have to be made around them all. Are new contracts offered? Will they sign them? Do we sell this summer? Do we let them run down their contracts?

Milner and Origi contracts run out this summer.
Mané, Salah, Firmino, Kieta and Ox’s contracts run out next summer.
Thiago and Hendo aren't getting any younger.
The only “established” midfielder under the age of 26 is Jones, and he’s only 20.
Minamino isn’t really cutting the mustard, so what do we do with him?

For me, there’s a lot of questions around the squad that need solved in the next window or 2.

3.) 04 Jan 2022 12:28:19
A squad that lacks quality in depth, we have been under funded since we won the CL, have missed a big opportunity to win another Prem or CL due to owners who like to build their investment and buy up other teams rather than invest in our squad, we need owners as focused on the team as they are about building a profile, success on the pitch is vital, i feel we have missed a big chance over these last 3 years.

4.) 04 Jan 2022 12:52:48
Mighty reds I don’t think you can say we have a great squad. The squad needs quite a lot of work imo.

5.) 04 Jan 2022 13:26:00
Lancaster, the only problem with your comment and that of everyone else saying the same thing, is that the last 3 years has also included a global C.V. that has decimated LFC's annual revenue for the last 2 years. Now, Ed002 will correct me here if I am wrong I am sure, but if Liverpool were to go out and re-invest in the squad in the last 3 years without selling players, we would have fallen foul of FFP I assume. The rules were relaxed slightly I believe, but coupled with payments required on previous transfers and loan repayments, we probably didn't have much to spare.
It isn't a case of the owners just injecting £100m to be spent on transfers as it doesn't work that way.

6.) 04 Jan 2022 14:42:12
I think the longer Salah’s negotiations run on the more difficult it will be, can be almost certain that he’ll want to see improvement (and by that I mean high quality additions) to the playing squad as this is his last big contract and he’ll want to ensure he’s in a competitive team (much like Torres and Suarez), if that’s not forthcoming then I suspect that not even the much touted mythical figure of £500’000 pw would be enough as he could easily earn that at PSG/ Madrid/ Bayern/ City and be almost guaranteed trophies every year too.

A harsh reality.

7.) 05 Jan 2022 12:21:15
Stuie, they have done their bit and been good for us, but they can't take us any further and we will continue to fall further back, we aren't living in 2010 anymore, what was the excuse before C.V.?

31 Oct 2021 07:54:46
Hey Ed's
Are the club working on midfield targets
The gaps in midfield when Fabinho isn't playing are insane.

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - Yes the club will look to add to the midfield.}

1.) 31 Oct 2021 09:43:01
Do u expect the club to act in January or is it a wait until summer? I think we should sell Ox and sign Bissouma in January.

2.) 31 Oct 2021 11:17:48
Usually if we need someone and in this case we do, we usually get our buisness done early in the window and the situation we are in there can be no farting about like laat season with kabak an davies we need a quality midfielder a, s, a, p .

3.) 31 Oct 2021 11:24:11
Where's the minimum £30m price difference between Ox and Bissouma going to come from?

4.) 31 Oct 2021 12:21:45
So basically we are moving like the bury of the prem, its ridiculous we ain't asking for the earth just adequate additions to the squad to make us stronger.

{Ed001's Note - the Bury that were expelled from the Football League for being unable to start a season due to financial difficulties and had to sell their ground, that Bury? Perhaps you should think before you call things ridiculous, as your reply was the most ridiculous I have read in a long time.}

5.) 31 Oct 2021 13:02:26
I don't get what all the complaining is about. bad day at the office for sure. but this is the same group that has been coping alright since we've had injuries to Fab, Thiago and Elliot.

Do people really think we are going to sell Ox and then Buy Bissouma in Jan? hahahahahaha.

6.) 31 Oct 2021 12:46:20
What kind of midfielders are we looking at Ed? For me, when we were at our most effective, we had a lot of midfielders who were very fit, carried the ball up the pitch and pressed relentlessly, and had them on rotation. Of those, Milner and Henderson are getting older and more injury prone, Wijnaldum's gone and Ox has completely dropped off after his injury problems. So, for me, we need a "busy"/ cariliero type of midfielder.

{Ed002's Note - The targets will pretty much be as per summer in Bissouma and Sanches. Depending what happens with departures perhaps an AM in the summer.}

7.) 31 Oct 2021 13:24:09
Wow sorry ed maybe my comparison was daft excuse me but i am not a bury fan, but the club is very relaxed about adding quality players to improve us and as a top club we can't afford to hang around as proven since winning the league.

{Ed001's Note - it was as ludicrous as your obsession with buying shiny new toys.}

8.) 31 Oct 2021 13:35:01
Would be pointless signing Sanches. We’ve enough injury prone players in midfield, adding a player who goes on a sicky for half a season every season is pointless. That’s the literal definition of throwing good money to bad.

9.) 31 Oct 2021 14:46:23
You are missing my point ed I am not after shiny new toys, if a house needs repairs minor or large it needs fixing so I can rent it out to my lodgers . Our house needs minor repairs but they are essential to win things . If we are happy being 2nd, 3rd or 4th sound let's crack on with our injury prone squad .

{Ed001's Note - yes and the point is that we have already got those repairs in the shape of Elliott, Morton etc in house that need the opportunity to play and people should stop being so impatient.}

10.) 31 Oct 2021 16:59:05
I don't think anyone could miss your point lad, you labour it so much.
And clearly your answer to every problem is "buy more players". How many years has Klopp been manager and you still can't grasp how he works?
All this after a draw against Brighton.
Absolutely comical.

11.) 31 Oct 2021 16:35:02
OK Ed I hope they are given the chance morton will definitely get his opportunities with that midfield, but the likes of tsimikas, minamino, origi even nat Phillips need to be trusted to keep others on their toes .

12.) 31 Oct 2021 17:19:18
One draw and the doom and gloom of needing bissouma and Co in immediately. Its not about the result yesterday its about how we bounce back from it.

13.) 31 Oct 2021 18:08:54
Redjoe, how do you think Henderson, Ox and Jones are going to deal with Atletico Madrid and then West Ham, if they struggled to deal with Brighton? If we have to line up with that midfield for those two matches it could be a very ugly week.

14.) 31 Oct 2021 18:38:13
No one is saying buy for the sake of it, we have hardly bought anyone since 2019, flash if we had midfielders that were not getting injured i would be like sound we can cope, but u have too agree all our midfielders not most all are injury prone way too much hendo included fab not so much, its shxt preparation to win a league or champions league.

15.) 31 Oct 2021 19:38:12
So get rid of everyone in midfield and buy a whole new set of players?
Bar Gini these midfielders have won everything major there is to win. It's a contact sport, there will be injuries. Your answer is to just buy, buy, buy.
It may have escaped your attention but the transfer window is closed and the club isn't exactly financially flush.
fans want a new shiny shiny, Klopp has ALWAYS preferred to seek answers from within and has stated so in countless interviews.
It's only obsessive fans that harp on about transfers being the answer to every problem.

16.) 31 Oct 2021 20:44:09
Yes the transfer window is closed Flash, all we can do is hope Fabinho will return for Wednesday, and it is clear that was folly to not replace the only midfielder that we could rely upon to be fit all the time and be able to retain possession when on the pitch.

To me it seems evident that the internal solutions aren’t good enough, otherwise we wouldn’t have been bullied at home so easily.

Literally the only positives from the weekend was that it could have been worse and it’s one more point than last season, but that doesn’t hide the fact that our midfield was poor for most of the match.

17.) 31 Oct 2021 21:04:38
I'm not going to lie, it is easy to look at Keita and Ox, who have had issues with both fitness and consistency, (although Keita had actually only missed 2 games due to injury this season, and I think Ox has been every squad so far) and wonder why we didn't sell them and buy one better midfielder. Either in terms of quality or fitness. Or both.

But maybe no one was interested at a price that allowed us to buy a midfielder we actually wanted. We'd have needed £20m each for them to even look at Bissouma, which let's face it, we were never going to get. Sure, we could've gone out and bought, as a random example, Jason Knight for £10m or something, but does a player of that level have a long term role at Liverpool beyond simply providing a fitter body than Keita or Ox for a season or two? Don't think so.

With the market being how it is, and the risk presented by Ox and Keita's injury records, you'd probably struggle to drum up interest in anything than a loan to buy, or a really cheap deal for them.

And at the end of the day, we've gone into the season with 6 senior midfielders, plus Jones and Elliot. Even accounting for one being 35, and three having less than stellar injury records, it really should be enough cover. It's not like CB last season where we only had 3 plus the then unproven Phillips.

18.) 31 Oct 2021 23:49:28
we let Gini go and still had 8 midfielders on the books with none of them looking like they'd be going anywhere last summer.

19.) 01 Nov 2021 04:51:28
In an environment of state owned clubs blooding our young prospects is vital to the future of the club, add that to poorly managed players cast out from these overly indulgent firms on the whims of swiftly rotated gaffers then acquired for a cheeky nandos and brought to their full potential ala Salah by an elite infrastructure and by george you've got a team .

I've seen a few bits on Darwin Nunez linked to us in the past and some articles surfaced of late aswell

Looks like a good fit for the club and looks like a player that can play with his back to goal more in the firmino mould date I say

Any new on this or is it just click bait and the Liverpool name being linked to drive price and interest up?

. Also come on the red men let's lift this cup today and give us some early silverware and some hunger for more in the run in 💪🏻.

Expensive though excellent player. City will move heaven and earth apparently.

2.) 27 Feb 2022 09:59:29
Only seen some highlights but he didn't look particularly impressive to be completely honest. But then again it seems like half of Europe wants him so what do I know.

I could watch us play every minute of every day
Some sexy football on show their tonight.

1.) 24 Feb 2022 06:12:21
Absolutely.
Amazing football, both full backs spend more time in the opponent’s half than their own.
There was one point in the second half that Robertson, inside the Leeds half, pinged a diagonal right across to Trent inside the Leeds penalty area 💪
It’s like someone throwing buckets of warm chocolate at you, heaven lol.
Liverpool fullbacks on tour, taking the ****.

2.) 24 Feb 2022 09:30:33
This is what you see when a team is full of confidence and the bit btw their teeth. Sun. is a bonus for me cos THIS was the game we needed to win and we left NO doubt. Onto Sunday.

3.) 24 Feb 2022 14:55:03
Sorry to rain on anybody's parade, but as they say, it takes two to tango. While we were unquestionably good, Leeds were unquestionably poor, and that made for our excellent game. I think it's time for a new "transition" for them because they don't look like they will stay up in the EPL, if this continues. I have all the respect for Bielsa and his abilities, but he doesn't seem to have the answers. Sure, key players are missing due to injury (Bamford, Philips etc), but they should have made the usual contingencies.

{Ed0666's Note - yesterday was more about the result than the performance. Leeds could have been a banana skin but thankfully it wasn’t. Yes Leeds we’re poor but who cares? The most important thing was to be 3 points behind City at the end of 90 minutes.

30 Jan 2022 16:22:19
Just want to go on record and say what a signing James Milner has been to this club brilliant professional and truly helped propel this club forward with his experience on and off the pitch

Up their with any signings but surely has to be 1 of the best free signings for us

Let's hope we can get some silverware this season it would be a great way to part ways with a trophy.

Dhfc

1.) 30 Jan 2022 16:47:54
Milner is a class act. Big respect to the man.

2.) 30 Jan 2022 16:52:48
Couldn’t concur more mate. Millie is and has been an outstanding professional on and off the pitch.

I honestly think he’s got at least another 1-2 seasons in him. Just think it might be somewhere else though.

{Ed0666's Note - I think he’ll go on to manage Leeds. Maybe start his apprenticeship under Biesla next season? That’s if Biesla stays at Leeds next season.

3.) 30 Jan 2022 19:37:03
Definitely a great acquisition, I just can't understand the abuse he gets on Twitter.

4.) 30 Jan 2022 19:55:20
Milner is one of the several pillars like Hendo Bobbie and Lovren on which this squad was built. These guys may not have been all leaders on the pitch but off it, the DR is/ was nothing without these guys. Milner is an LFC legend hands down and were hé to stick around in a much reduced playing role then, I wouldn’t mind it at all.

5.) 30 Jan 2022 21:09:10
Milly has been exceptional for this club. but the time is right to leave. You needs to go back to Leeds in some sort of role.

31 Dec 2021 12:47:14
Hey Ed's and reds

All the talk of us being out the title race is rubbish

Although it's a mountain to climb I can't think of another team that raises is ts game to the underdog tag more that Liverpool

City do look strong and so consistent but they're not unbeatable and complacency can creep in when so far ahead so it's not over until it's over and I think Juergen and the boys are more than capable of pulling it off we just need to stop moaning about fixture pile ups and embrace that when we play every 3 days we are almost perpetual motion so keep out the way

Come on the red men 💪🏻.

Dhfc

1.) 31 Dec 2021 13:43:47
Klopp was constantly moaning about the fixtures and then our first team got a nice break and we lost to a team with loads of injuries who played 2 days before. Klopp needs to stop moaning and his players need to start performing. It’s definitely over if we can’t beat Chelsea and City win again.

Thiago injured again, from what he hasn’t played. He is another player we can’t rely on.

2.) 31 Dec 2021 13:44:12
I Know we aren't out technically but let's be honest can you see us winning all our games? Coz I can't see us winning all our games and with C. V. situation now it will just keep on stretching our squad more.

Unfortunately we are against a side who doesn't drop many points once you give away silly points just like against Spurs, Leicester, Westham etc you're on the spot playing catch-up.

All said and done we still have a lot in our plate to play for especially CL with Anfield and cup games coming very soon there's lots of games to enjoy including our next game against the blues #YNWA #Redordead.

3.) 31 Dec 2021 13:57:09
Fans talk like we overcome the odds a lot to win league titles.
The record books show though that we’ve won 1 title in 31 years.
The title is never over until it’s mathematically possible but it’s a mammoth task especially as we wave goodbye to our best player tomorrow evening for a month.
We can still finish the season on 98 points but would require us to win the next 19 league games.
We need to stop drawing games, we’ve lost 10 points so far from draws and 6 points in defeats.

4.) 31 Dec 2021 21:39:53
JK23, we did overcome odds to win the 1 league title we have won in 31 years cos it literally took us two perfect seasons to accomplish the feat, breaking multiple records and dethroning a team funded by a sovereign state that has outspent us at almost 3 to 1 since Pep arrived. No team has dethroned City since Pep arrived and without us, the PL would be a one team farmer’s league right now, if we aren’t there already.

We all know what the record books say BUT let’s not talk down what this team achieved esp in the manner they did just cos of what the records say. Apart from that, I fully agree with the rest of your post.

5.) 01 Jan 2022 07:31:30
@Markp - spot on about Thiago. I know he is highly regarded and it is common practice for people to say ‘He bossed the game in his last couple of games’ every time he misses Hal a dozen or more games but I honestly don’t see how he represents value for money if he plays about a quarter of the games each season.

6.) 01 Jan 2022 08:39:11
Oli read my post again mate.
I said “ Fans talk like we overcome the odds a lot to win league titles” that clearly says a lot to win titles. You have argued against that with 1 title.
Plus the year we won it we did amazingly well but were 2nd favourites for the title. If you ask any bookies or better If that is overcoming the odds.
Id never downplay what the club achieved to win that title I’m just being realistic. I’ve said the title is still achievable but is an extremely difficult task. Some fans believe we will win it because we came back from 3-0 down in Istanbul and hammered Barcelona at home a few seasons ago.

7.) 01 Jan 2022 10:25:43
Fair enuff, JK23. I’m not any of those “fans” so that was not my point. When I say we overcame the odds, it’s cos we didn’t make any real signings that summer and a lot of the bookies didn’t pick us to win despite being second favs. Pundits didn’t think we could win it either except for a few like Ian Wright cos City had outspent us by 130m. We also needed 2 perfects seasons to accomplish the feat. That’s what I meant.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

25 Nov 2021 11:14:13
Tyler Morton was very good last night done everything he had to and more great to see academy lads getting a chance . Also spotlight was on Tyler but thought neco had a really good game against a tricky and arguably their best player in luis Diaz

With Tyler coming to the first team and getting games does this push Curtis Jones out slightly or do you think their is room for both in the squad obviously having hg players for us is a must but do you see Liverpool doing as we seem to have a few quite promising players coming through at the same time obviously they are all a few seasons away .

Cheers.

Dhfc

1.) 25 Nov 2021 12:45:39
Why does everyone seem so desperate for Jones to fail? Isn’t he out with an eye injury? Morton gets a couple of appearances and therefore he has pushed Jones out of the door in the process? I do not understand.

2.) 25 Nov 2021 13:06:12
I was at the game last night and you are right both had solid games and impressed.

I think with Milner slowly phasing out, Keita never being fit, there is room for both as squad players short term and hopefully both pushing on the door for a regular spot long term (2-3 years) once Henderson, Thiago are slowing down. Just my view.

3.) 25 Nov 2021 13:12:40
They are both different players. Jones has competition from OX, Keita, and Henderson.

4.) 25 Nov 2021 13:39:31
Exactly AW, a midfield trio of Norton, Jones and Elliot in a few years looks good on paper, from what I've seen of them all so far.

5.) 25 Nov 2021 13:43:43
I love Jones and think he has a tremendous future with the club.

6.) 25 Nov 2021 13:57:35
Lad's lad's BOTH players have a brilliant future with the club. For me Morton and Jones are different players who play in different positions in midfield so one is not going to oust the other. The future is bright the future is RED YNWA 👍.

7.) 25 Nov 2021 14:24:35
Loving the youth development in midfield this season, Morton being the latest one. Elliot and Jones are more attacking, Morton more in a Fabs mould.

I keep bleating on about him, but add Bellingham into the mix and we have a fantastic basis for future years.

Versatile too as both Jones and Elliot can also play on the wing if needs be.

I was about to say that Keita can now leave given the strength in depth, but I've actually been more impressed with Naby this season than the last 2. Maybe it's his year ;-) :D.

8.) 25 Nov 2021 16:08:19
I think Milner and perhaps Thiago will both be gone in 2 years, Henderson's role may change, one of Ox or Kieta will probably have gone, we'll go through a new generation of our midfield and the prospect of that being Elliot, Jones, Morton is pretty cool!

Morton obviously needs to bulk up abit but just being around the team is great for him, I think it's disrespectful to suggest Jones is behind him as he is much further along and probably ahead of Kieta and Ox in the team when fully fit.

9.) 25 Nov 2021 17:14:16
Anonymous Woolback, THIS! There has been a disgraceful witch hunt not just on this forum, but in the fan base since the summer where Elliott was coming up and playing well in preseason and early on in the season. They want him gone cos the shiny new toy Elliott appeared and now after seeing Morton play well, it's back again.

For a team that seldom sees youngsters coming thru, we should be happy with the brilliant job Klopp is doing bringing youngsters thru BUT no, we can't be having that. According to some, we clearly cannot have a bunch of youngsters coming thru in the same position and thriving. Heaven forbid that happens.

For them if one comes thru, his ex academy mate in the same position needs to go. In this case then, what happens when another kid comes thru then, Morton will need to go as well then, yeah? Then where does this rubbish end? This logic is beyond baffling to me.

10.) 25 Nov 2021 21:29:42
Hang on chaps did I say pushed out the door

No

Some of you guys need a few Valium 1 question and I’m packing Jones bags and I’m raving about Elliot and Morton is a shiny new toy . Hahaha

Imagine if some of you guys wer evertonians or Utd fans
Jeeeeeeez
😂😂😂😂.

11.) 25 Nov 2021 21:38:52
What I was getting at was we can’t just stock pile academy lads give them a few games here and there
Room in the squad we have a massive squad and if we are looking to bring another into the mix surely it’s cutting the game time of another

That was my point .

12.) 25 Nov 2021 22:06:37
Some posters have a really bad habit of reading posts and twisting it for their own benefit. All you did was ask a question Dhfc. I personally think Jones has a future in the Liverpool first team but there were strong rumours he was for sale in the summer. If everyone is fit neither are getting a game as things stand atm.

13.) 25 Nov 2021 23:36:13
Bickering about if A gets better will it mean the end for B is, at best pointless but I do think the fact that the conversation is taking place at all is an excellent sign that the club’s youth development system is looking up (compared to the pre-Klopp era.

The club said a number of times in the lead up to the move to the new training facilities that it would benefit the development of the youth pathway into the senior set-up, at first blush it certainly looks to be proving correct.

If we go forwards say 3 or 4 years and the 50% of lads with the apparent potential (say, Kelleher, Pitulagi, Bradley, Beck, Neco, Koumetio, Quansah, Morton, Jones, Elliot, Frauendorf, Balagizi, Gordon, Clarke, Oakley Cannonier, Stewart) make the grade the club will recoup the cost of building the training centre by not having to shell out millions to buy the ‘finished product’ from around the world.

14.) 25 Nov 2021 23:39:09
Lol hardly a witch hunt Oli 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

15.) 26 Nov 2021 06:13:04
WDW that is a good list of young tal. Take Elliot out because he is almost first choice in the first 11 or certainly one of the first of the bench. From the rest if one or two make it at top PL level that will be par for the course.

16.) 26 Nov 2021 08:16:55
Was gutted when Elliot got injured you could see the lads confidence growing . Hope he gets a few games again this season and kicks on next year . I agree that we have an abundance of talent in the academy but it will be attitude and commitment that will see them get a chance aswell as talent
We know klopp is a fan of hard work.

17.) 26 Nov 2021 08:56:54
Mark, you are one of the people on here slandering Jones and pushing him to leave cos according to you, Elliott was better cos he was starting more of the preseason game. You even compared him to Stevie G at the same age saying he should be doing what Stevie was doing. It was so bad that as soon as the Villa rumors came out you were pushing for us to sell Jones and cos he was 7th or 8th on the pecking order (as if one can see that during preseason, lol) .

Now you are changing your tune and saying Jones has a bright future and blah, blah, blah whereas you weren't saying that in the summer so don't come on here and start rewriting history and don't you lecture me about twisting words to suit narratives. You are the absolute DON on this forum when it comes to that and slandering players and perennial negativity cos FSG did not do what you wanted.

18.) 26 Nov 2021 08:59:52
Dhfc, I made an overall point regarding people trying to push Jones out and I got the receipts to prove it. Nowhere did I mention that you were one of them so take a chill pill and actually read the post I made cos nowhere did I even mention you in it.

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - Raphinha is unrelated to Leeds being relegated.}

I didn’t say he was like Bobby I said I thought he would be a great replacement should Bobby leave which is a possibility with only having 12 months left and not signed a contract . And I’m not wishing Bobby to leave I’m just saying if he did leave IMO nunez would be a great replacement. Football is an opinions game respecting others opinions doesn’t mean you have to agree .

If players are good enough they adapt Bobby was an attacking midfielder when we signed him players teams and roles change yearly so I wouldn’t say nunez can only play a certain way he will adapt his game to his team whoever that may be and hopefully continue his upward trajectory. I was just really impressed with his finishing when we played benfica.

Ed’s when you say change of tactics I don’t see that is relevent IMO I think the fluidity of Liverpool’s attacking players would allow for such a signing .
I think he would be a perfect Bobby replacement if he wer to leave . Looks like he could play up top for us.

Dhfc

{Ed002's Note - Well I don't think he is anything like Firmino. And Liverpool are not looking to replace Firmino.}

Totally agree aray
I think the midfield is the priority to get bodies in
Age gap drops from 29 to 22 in midfield maybe a player or 2 around 24/ 25 to help the younger lads transition gradually in to the midfield rather than being thrown in and help the older lads have a rest in between games . The increase in games per season basically means you need 2 players in every position and a youthful prospect is the 3rd choice . Only my opinion but the more games = more players in squads . I do feel that the 5 sub rule will benefit us as we can introduce Elliot and Jones more in that midfield.

A modern day yaya toure would suit us just fine a player that can boss the midfield and get forward and defend not a clue who that is but that’s the type of player our midfield needs .

But pretty sure every midfield in the world could do with 1 of them.

I don’t think Gini was ever the 1st name on the team sheet mate nor the 1st in midfield
I think people forget the numerous games a season he was anonymous and contributed nothing in defence or attack . Was a great member of the team that won some big things for us but he was only a small part of that and don’t get this obsession with fans that think he was our best midfielder do you think he would be allowed to leave for free if he was that important

Let’s move on and hope gini all the best in the rest of his career.

Grino

Instead of liking 1 of mane or firmino to leave I would love if they started to rediscover some frightening form and we win every competition we are in this year

We all love new players but I’d suspect Diaz will be slowly introduced to the team for a few reasons as to not upset some of the current players and also to learn how we play and what is expected of him from his role . But given what I have read and watched from the lad effort and work rate are not lacking what so ever

Let’s get it over the line now.

I think the fact van dijk and Gomez were both coming back from long lay offs add to the fact matip has issues with injuries you can’t blame the club for keeping Nat in the end (albeit if someone coughed enough up he’d have gone )

Van dijk could have easily relapsed
Gomez seems to be struggling to get to his levels from what I hear .
Matip is matip so fingers crossed he stays fit
KonAte is adapting to a new style and league on top of having injury issues in the past

So keeping Nat for me was good business for the club not so much for the lad if all above stay fit

I.
