What happened to huijsen?
all these stories of staying in PL, connection with Hughes, Dutch connection, etc went kaput in a flash on eyelid.
Fripong is going on and this very soon is taking almost week long and nothing yet.
Unless the player wanta to come, we have 0 pulling power in transfer.

To be fair it was always going to be difficult with the player being Spanish and wanting to join real from the beginning of they were interested in taking him. The window hasn't even opened yet, maybe save your complaining for later? Plenty of other targets to look at.

Umm. first and foremost. as I recall. Hughes had next to nothing to do with the Huijsen-transfer to Bornemouth.
Secondly. sure he was born in the netherlands but he spent most of his life in Spain and represents Spain. I can't see any strong "dutch connections" in his case.
Lastly. I think its been pretty clear that his preference is Real Madrid since the start. Staying in the prem was only reported when Real hadnt entered the race and the only competition was from Bayern.
I reckon were better off without someone who 'll push for a move to Real in 3 years.

Huijsen always wanted Madrid and that was no secret. We only became an option for him when it was unclear whether or not Madrid were willing to actually pay for a player. As soon as they decided they would pay the release clause then that was that. This is not a surprise or any kind of failing on our behalf, it is purely the expected outcome from the start.

Ed001 what your thoughts on Huijsen as a player I have only watched him a few times and I think he looks outstanding on the ball but one thing that would have worried me was his recovery pace with how far forward we defended. I watched Bournemouth last weekend and Villa had a break on them and he looked like he was running in sand.
{Ed001's Note - excellent young defender, but he does still have a fair bit to learn. He is not lightning quick, but he is no slouch either.}

One season Huijsen been in prem and he is being touted as a 50 million pound player . Not for me he isn't he would need three or four full seasons in prem before he is at that level.

PSG had links with Salah a couple of weeks ago and they came out saying they weren't interested and it's just media talk so I assume that's still the case. Who knows though, now he's free to speak to other clubs I'm sure quite a few clubs will be having a good think about snapping these players up.

I try to think about it from Salah's perspective and staying at Liverpool seems to be his best option in Europe. Moving at his age is a risk as time is too precious for an adjustment period to get in sync with his new team. Liverpool is the best place for him to challenge for the Ballon D'Or and biggest trophies.
The only thing PSG can offer him is a bigger salary and the opportunity to stat pad his Champions League goals at the same time. Ligue 1 is meaningless, PSG won't win the Champions League and Saudi will offer more money tax-free so what's the point?
Real Madrid might sound alluring at first but he would have to compete with both Vinicius and Mbappe to be the main man there so that would all end in tears in practice.
Barca are skint. Bayern have their own salary structure and already have Olise who they have just invested a lot of money in. Serie A is in a poor state. He won't go to another Premier League team as that would destroy his legacy with us and we're the best in the league anyway.
You think about it like that and surely he stays with us unless he takes the Saudi money which will still be waiting for him in a couple of years anyway.
