If reports are to be believeed that he is off to Belgium, all the best to Mignolet. He handled himself with class through a very difficult time for himself.

1.) 05 Aug 2019 11:39:29
It's tough being the starter, then losing your place and sitting on the bench for 2 years (first behind Karius then Alisson) . All the best to Migs. YNWA.

Ed, is there any truth that Coutinho is looking for a move to Manchester United or is this just lazy journalism?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he wants, sorry. But certainly he is one of the players Barcelona want sold this summer.}

1.) 10 Mar 2019 17:52:33
Thank you ed.

2.) 10 Mar 2019 19:13:36
Ed, if you ever have any openings in your rodeo, I'd like to apply.

{Ed002's Note - I'll take note of that.}

3.) 10 Mar 2019 19:29:23
Ed002 why would they be so quick to get rid when they went to the trouble to attain him. Is it financial or another reason.

{Ed002's Note - He is not playing as well as they want and they are willing to cut him lose and take a hit on the funds bringing a replacement in.}

4.) 10 Mar 2019 21:06:18
certainly Liverpool wouldn't be interested, would they?

5.) 10 Mar 2019 23:49:33
No chance Stone mate, not at the price Barcelona would be after.

6.) 10 Mar 2019 23:48:54
Would we want him back after way he left?

7.) 11 Mar 2019 01:23:05
Coutinho can play LW AM RW CM he can rotate with the front three and in the middle. I understand he faked injuries because he wanted his DREAM move but he was doing great with us. apart from that he has friends here in Firmino Moreno and now we have Alisson Fabinho he will feel at home here and he will give us his best years.
Just imagine
Alisson-A. Arnold-Gomez-VanDijk-Robertson-Fabinho-Keita-Coutinho-Salah-Mane-Firmino.

8.) 11 Mar 2019 10:25:47
I think we have moved on as a club and are better off without him. Don't think he works hard enough off the ball and he is a high light player that looks better than he is because of the goals he scores but how many shots does he have but fore one goes in would much prefer are front 3 over him and in the middle ox all day for me. I know he has more ability on the ball than ox but look how hard david silva kevin de bruyne and bernardo silva. Think its time to move on.

9.) 11 Mar 2019 11:24:53
Asensio is apparently available in the summer for £69m apparently, I would much rather we buy him. Amazing player with serious potential, probably cheaper than Countinho (not that I would want to see him back) don't get me wrong, Coutinho was an amazing player for us, but he cooked his goose with the fans over how he acted trying to leave - well he did for me anyway!

{Ed001's Note - is Asensio really amazing?}

10.) 11 Mar 2019 13:17:53
I loved Couts during his time at Liverpool. However, I wouldn't be happy if we were to take him back. I just think for the price we could do better in terms of signing a player that would fit Klopps system. For me, id go all out to sign Son from Spurs. I don't think they'd sell unfortunately. And Levy isn't exactly a dream to deal with either.

11.) 11 Mar 2019 14:17:01
Are you seriously saying you would prefer Son to Coutinho.

We will not be getting him back, but coutinho is a wonderful player. creative and game changing, just what we need in games such as west ham and Leicester.

12.) 11 Mar 2019 15:03:19
We drastically improved when Coutinho left last season. We are currently having one of our best seasons ever. We do not miss him. When we play against deep defences Coutinho is not the answer, we had the same struggles vs this kind of strategy the entire time Coutinho was with us.

13.) 11 Mar 2019 17:04:33
When did we drastically improve after Coutinho left? 1st Jan 2018 we were 3rd in the prem at the end of the season we were 4th. We started to concede less goals due to VVD coming but we didn't score more league goals.

Of course we miss him to some extent. Did you not watch the Man U or the Everton games, this is when he could have made the difference.

14.) 11 Mar 2019 18:39:40
I don't think either will ever happen but, if push came to shove, I would definitely have Son over Coutinho. Coutinho is excellent don't get me wrong, but Son's all round game is superb and he is an absolute grafter. He'd suit out style perfectly as well.

15.) 11 Mar 2019 19:27:02
Coutinho was in and out of games and went missing a lot. Then he would bang a worldie in and all would be forgotten. He really should get more time and space in the Spanish league to do his stuff. So if he's struggling is really a player we would want back for £100 mill plus. No thanks move on don't go back.

16.) 11 Mar 2019 21:36:01
The fee alone make him unobtainable before you consider the other factors, such as how he left, how well we played without him, the cost, his overall salary etc etc.

We should move on, he’s not worth the £100 million being mentioned for me. For that we could sign both Fekir and Brandt with change to spare.

17.) 12 Mar 2019 05:51:11
For the crazy amount of money for buying Countinho, I predict he will just end up staying at Barcelona for maybe 2 more seasons. Luckily he would have some game time but definitely the the star player of them. And finally he would end up like Cesc Fabregas, leaving there cheap to Italy maybe?

What do you think about my prediction Eds?

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona want him sold and will drop the price if they need to - selling him obviously saves them money on payments to Liverpool.}

18.) 12 Mar 2019 22:42:44
So we get kicked twice then? Losing him to Barcelona and now losing what I would imagine would be a significant chunk of his transfer fee because they want to sell him. I know we don’t like to talk money but that’s kind of kicking us twice - why would anyone want him back (unless it’s so we can sell him again and get paid something?! )

19.) 14 Mar 2019 03:29:34
Maybe we can do something to negotiate a good deal involving the payments left.

20.) 16 Mar 2019 21:07:02
That’s confusing, why would it save them money on payments to us? Surely any money owed has to be honoured regardless of whether he is there or not? Or are we talking about add ons for appearances, etc?

{Ed002's Note - We are talking about a large sum of money that would be due if he stayed, played and Barcelona were successful. I have explained the structure of the fee before. Sadly many of the fans don’t believe it.}

02 Nov 2018 18:19:38
Ed002, is there any potential impact to the recent allegations against PSG and Man City. I know not Liverpool related, don't beat me up to much.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what allegations have been made but if it relates back to the 12/13 era it would be perhaps a case of UEFA finding their new turbo-charged feet in terms of handing out penalties. I have seen several posts about the general theme, if it is no more than bitching about it really being much worse than it was, that may well be truce. They got abrupt punishment that perhaps could have been more serious, but someone will need to give me a pointer to the specifics for me to rationally comment.}}

1.) 02 Nov 2018 23:27:17
I read Psg should sell mbappe and neymar because the money used for them wasn’t financially fair?

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I am not sure what is meant by that.}

2.) 04 Nov 2018 11:19:13
I believe the allegations were that Infantino met with the Qatari’s and said if they buy PSG he will overlook FFP in their favour and ensure that they got to host the 2022 World Cup. There was something similar to do with Man City but I’m not sure of the full details of that.

{Ed002's Note - That sounds like nonsense from Twitter. Regardless, that is all totally untrue.}

3.) 04 Nov 2018 14:32:32
Yeah I assumed as much. Thanks Ed002. It was football leaks that broke the story and I have no idea how reliable they are.

{Ed002's Note - They have seemingly got some information that dates between 2014 and recently which is why it is muddled.

11 Jun 2018 23:26:31
Just read on the Echo that Liverpool are "set to step up the transfer chase for Xherdan Shaqiri". I'm still think there is a chance for Fekir or one of the others mentioned by the eds, my opinion is that Shaqiri is an addition to. But, what do I know.

1.) 12 Jun 2018 05:29:24
Yeah Shaqiri transfer not related to Fekir.

2.) 12 Jun 2018 06:32:19
But getting Shaqiri would mean we are not getting Malcom and the likes of.

3.) 12 Jun 2018 08:37:36
Malcom is pretty much set for Inter Milan. Contract was negotiated but Bordeaux doesn't like the proposed payment structure by Inter Milan (Inter wants a loan with a buy at the end of the season and bordeaux wants the money now) .

btt: I don't rate shaqiri at all. Saw him (the few times he played) at Bayern and wasnt impressed, saw him at Milan and wasnt impressed and he didn't impress me at stoke either. He was a very talented player back in the day but he thinks way to highly about his abilitys and has an attitude problem.

4.) 12 Jun 2018 09:51:40
He also looks a little chubby imo.

5.) 12 Jun 2018 12:21:56
Oh god the irony in the comment above :D.

6.) 12 Jun 2018 15:59:17
A lot of Liverpool fans seem to be in favor of this transfer. And if he joins, I hope it works out. But I do worry about his attitude. Some are justifying it as not wanting to play for a losing side like Stoke, but these same problems were there at Bayern - when he felt he was too good to be coming off the bench; as well as at Inter - when he felt he wasn’t getting enough playing time. He reminds me of Balotelli, where he’s had his chances at the big clubs and shouldn’t deserve another one, despite being blessed with natural talent. Just my two cents. and again, if we sign up, I’m backing him to the hilt.

7.) 12 Jun 2018 16:58:51
What’s a transfer chase?
How do you step one up?
How do you get set up to step one up?

{Ed002's Note - You can only do it when the club is on "red alert".}

8.) 12 Jun 2018 18:21:48
You need a war chest as well.

9.) 12 Jun 2018 18:38:32
Does a transfer chase have to take place in a Babelcopter?

10.) 12 Jun 2018 21:05:06
A transfer chase is something that happens after you've monitored aggressively.

11.) 12 Jun 2018 23:21:54
Is it not when you start warming up the fax machine and prepare a delegation for a long journey?

The irony of the chubby comment @ fat boy slim 😂😂😂😂.

12.) 12 Jun 2018 21:00:00
Ed002 I’m curious, how do clubs go about initiating “red alert? ” Sirens?

{Ed002's Note - Through Google.}

13.) 12 Jun 2018 23:53:46
I have few misgivings about signing Shaqiri. Anyone who scores worldies is welcome. I think it's a decent signing and he could be one that really surprises people.

14.) 13 Jun 2018 04:16:27
Not all transfer chases have Babelcopters, but all Babelcopters have transfer chases.

15.) 13 Jun 2018 07:35:31
This is anfield has an article on Shaqiri written by a Stoke fan who does a podcast. He says he was their best player last season, albeit not difficult and thinks some of the question marks pointed at him over his attitude are unfounded. He does question how he would fit in with genpress like has been said on here but in today’s market 12m isn’t bad for a player who could come on and produce magic from the bench.

{Ed001's Note - oh well if one fan says it then it must be true.}

16.) 13 Jun 2018 08:32:39
It’s an opinion on someone who watched him every week last season, more than anyone here who is giving an opinion.

{Ed001's Note - and the opinion of a biased fan who might know f all about the game as well. Still pointless isn't it no matter how you try and dress it up. I am sure if I was to look I could find plenty of fans who watched him every week who would disagree, but that would be just as pointless doing so. As for more than anyone else here, you are being a blert now as you have no idea what anyone else has done. Attitude like yours is why it is a waste of time anyone giving an opinion, I am certainly done speaking to you. Little point if you are just going to make up stuff you couldn't possibly know.}

17.) 13 Jun 2018 11:26:33
I’m passing on the opinion of a bloke who runs a fans podcast for stoke. He obviously watched him week in week out last season and has praise for him, if someone watched Stoke more than him on a Liverpool transfer rumour page I would be amazed and seriously question what they are doing with their spare time!
Would he be biased to a player leaving? I’m sure I wouldn’t be in the same position.

{Ed001's Note - no, you were denigrating everyone else's opinion to try and make some bloke who does a podcast's more valid. You have no idea if the guy even has a clue about footie or not. As for watching them week in and week out, if you live anywhere but the UK, every single Prem game is screened live and on repeat, so anyone can watch them all very easily. You go to any bar or café here and there is at least one game being shown, usually more. It is not difficult in reality to have seen every single Stoke game last season.

As for biased, you have no idea what his biases are. He might have a particular liking for fat lazy players who spend 85 minutes a game throwing their arms in the air complaining about the ball not being at his feet even though he was the one who actually gave it away.}

18.) 13 Jun 2018 11:56:11
I'm really ok with shaqiri. still young, yes he's had his issues but he is coming to an interesting that interesting mid-20s part of your life where you start to think a bit more clearly than you did at 20.

19.) 13 Jun 2018 11:53:13
I am in no way saying this guys view is correct, I’m just passing on an alternative view from someone who has watched him more than people on here last season.

20.) 13 Jun 2018 15:43:13
Ed was it his attitude problems and selfishness that seen other larger clubs pass on the chance to sign him?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

I'm hoping that the full week to prepare for Arsenal helps the defense. If we give up 14 shots to Arsenal, it will be tough to win. Arsenal are very weak in the back so we should have a lot of chances, but we have to improve defensively in my opinion at least.

{Ed047's Note - weak would have been fine stone, no need to add the very bit! 😂😂 anyway Lacazette, Pepe and Aubameyang get to take shots at Adrian. 😳

1.) 18 Aug 2019 15:42:48
Hello Ed047 1st time mate are you a Arsenal man?

{Ed047's Note - Hi Barry, not my first time on the page mate and yes I'm a gunner mate.

2.) 18 Aug 2019 16:09:20
Emery following the early days of Klopp. Attack, Attack, Attack.

{Ed047's Note - with our defence it’s the only way to go, go big or go home is his motto! 😂

3.) 18 Aug 2019 16:21:15
what is it, if you can't pick your nose, pick your arsenal?

{Ed047's Note - 😂😂 my favourite match day chant is “UP THE ARSE” 😱

4.) 18 Aug 2019 19:12:58
I remember Jennings, Samson, Rix, Davies and poor old Rocky. Oh Ed please pay no heed if they start telling you stories about me nothing has been proven yet😁.

{Ed047's Note - haha I go back to Bob Wilson and Charlie George and his celebration in ‘71. 😂

It’ll depend whose telling the stories though mate! 😉

5.) 18 Aug 2019 19:40:34
The year before I was born Ed. Well Ed025 really can't tell any stories as I still have all the polariods😉.

{Ed025's Note - keep them polaroids to yourself barry, we dont want women swooning all over the country now do we mate?..

6.) 18 Aug 2019 20:59:31
We have a week to prepare for the Gooners.

That will do just fine.

They have some good players but we will sort them out.

The have real weaknesses at the back and they haven’t faced a side with our quality for a while.

Tough game but we are a tough bunch now.

{Ed047's Note - how many shots at goal did you let Norwich and Southampton have?

Asking for a friend? 😉

7.) 18 Aug 2019 21:03:37
Spot on, Ed47. I don't blame Emery one bit. Klopp did the exact same thing when he first arrived at LFC. We had a lot of under-utilized attacking talent but a crappy back 4 and a poor goalie hence, he just went all gung ho cos we simply couldn't defend. Now my issue here is that how could Areneal spend 72m on Pepe instead of addressing the back line with that money? David Luiz? Really? Over to you, Ed47.

{Ed047's Note - Red I think we’re all sick of our defensive frailties and with Wenger leaving I hoped it would change but Emery didn’t manage to change a thing.

The other snag is quality CB’s, we’ve purchased Saliba and we’re linked with Upamecano but more than anything we need bloody organising, we got Torreira but we still manage to look like a pub team sometimes.

Cellabos looks quality and Pépé I like the look of so I’m just hoping we win most games 5-4, much the same as Emery does.

David Luiz, what can I say? 🤷‍♂️

8.) 19 Aug 2019 00:18:57
Ed047 all I can say is this, get ready for your blood pressure to go through the roof mate! when I look back on some of those crazy matches we had under klopp, i am amazed i didn't end up on blood pressure pills, even a 4-1 scoreline was no guarantee of a victory!
Its not for the faint hearted mate.

9.) 18 Aug 2019 23:42:54
ed047, there seems to be a defensive problem with every PL team at the moment so I won't worry too much about it mate, In Sokratis you have a decent defender, slow but good positioning and you never know what you get with Luiz, he can every now and then produce a very good showing .
We having defensive problems of our own and with your front 3, you can give us a good game . I am looking forward to it a 4-3 maybe.
And btw, Cellabos may just turn out to be the deal of the summer transfers.

{Ed047's Note - apart from Man Utd who now apparently have the best back 5 in the country, I nearly choked on my brew when I read that the other day! 🤣

I’m just hoping we catch you on a bad day and the 4-3 is to us.

It’s a shame we only have Ceballos on a loan with no option to buy as he looks quality. Just need to make the most of him Roy.

10.) 19 Aug 2019 00:48:19
Ed025 mate those polaroids will never see the light of day. You dressed as the cowboy out of the Village People is not fit for public consumption.

{Ed025's Note - good idea barry, i never really thought about it before but i must be attractive to men as well!, the one of me naked on a motorbike will be worth big money i expect mate.. :)

11.) 19 Aug 2019 08:40:04
Ed47, Utd have the best back 5 in the country? After one game? I know the mainstream media have been working triple overtime to make them relevant again BUT this is becoming ridiculous. What a crock of bull!

Arsenal have the attacking talent to hurt any team BUT we already knew that last season. IMO tho, we have the better defence overall and our midfield is one that Arsenal or many PL team can't deal with when we play at full pelt due to the way we win the ball and launch attacks right off of that. If we can just get the midfield right playing better and the back 5 sorting itself out and with Anfield on our side, I reckon we can take the 3 point. Won't be easy, tho.

{Ed047's Note - United fans are famous for lauding the next big thing in their ranks and whilst clearly it’s not all of them it just makes you think, really?

I’ve little doubt you will soon be back to your best Red, I’m just hoping maybe after this weekend. You definitely have the best defence and I’d go as far as to say not just in this league.

We’ll need everyone to pull a performance out the bag and right now I’d take a draw and remain unbeaten.

17 Aug 2019 23:19:14
I absolutely love Mane and Firmino. Those two, in my opinion are irreplaceable on the front line.

1.) 18 Aug 2019 00:52:12
Completely agree Stone.

2.) 18 Aug 2019 02:36:34
Agree.

I really love the second half of the game, though after the Adrian's howlers the players seem getting nervous and sloppy.

And I love the scene when Henderson came in, shouted and screamed, and seem to told VVD not to bother about passing the armband to him but to just carry on. Small thing yes, but I love it.

3.) 18 Aug 2019 07:47:40
Bobbys goal celerbration gets funnier the more you watch it.

4.) 18 Aug 2019 08:26:52
Both very important players. Mane great yesterday, Firmino very very quiet.

Mane does not get the credit he deserves on these boards. Mane has been far better than Firmino for over a year now and still looks like he is getting slightly better. I don't mind the constant Firmino Love but Mane deserves far more praise on here. Mane is by some distance our most important forward player, without him number 6 would not be in the trophy cabinet.

{Ed025's Note - hes been excellent mark, besides VVD hes probably your most important player i would say mate..

5.) 18 Aug 2019 09:25:36
Defo agree, firmino took his goal really clinically but also missed a sitter but still knits it all together with a mixture of graft, skill, awareness all the things the fans love . But definitely feel mane is our main man the guy is a menace for the opposition.

6.) 18 Aug 2019 09:25:42
Agree with that ed. Good win for your boys yesterday, vital I would say. Don't want to play catch up in this league.

{Ed025's Note - if we win on friday mark we will be top of the league....its staying there that might be the problem though mate.. :)

7.) 18 Aug 2019 09:49:44
Agree Hail an absolute menace. Mane could quite easily have had four assists in that game. He set up Firmino for a sitter, Salah clean though, Robbo one on one and others. He was top class again, it's not a one off for him.

8.) 18 Aug 2019 10:51:33
Mane has scored more premier league goals than any other player in the premier league in the year 2019. Absolutely fantastic player. No wonder Real and other teams are trying to eye him up from across the bar.

9.) 18 Aug 2019 11:11:02
To me, Mane is the best all-round forward in the PL. He is bordering on world class, IMO. Why? There is almost nothing he can't do. He can dribble, [pass, shoot, score, assist, create and is deadly in the air for such a relatively small guy. And when in complete Beast Mode, he is a menace to society.

10.) 18 Aug 2019 12:26:26
Redwolf, Mane is not bordering on world class. He is world class. Mbappe aside, name one wide player in world football you would rather have than Mane (Messi and Ronaldo don't count as they are not wide players any more) .

11.) 18 Aug 2019 12:46:20
Cant leave salah out of that. All 3 are class.

12.) 18 Aug 2019 12:51:26
I feel its because teams are concentrating on salah with two men that mane gets to run amock.

13.) 18 Aug 2019 15:01:39
I've noticed something different. Apart from the obvious high line the defence is playing, salah is playing further out wide almost stood on the touch line. The room it's creating for the other 2 up there is massive. It's the third game I've seen it, have a look next match If you spot it.

14.) 18 Aug 2019 14:38:12
Its like staying five places below that's the problem ed025 😅.

{Ed025's Note - your probably right liverbird..

15.) 18 Aug 2019 21:10:33
IB, I did not want to say he is WC yet even tho I think he is there already. I wanted to be cautious in my comments. Now to answer your question, I would take Mane even over Mbappe. Why? Mane can do what Mbappe can do. Mbappe cannot all the things Mane can do. Just my opinion.

16.) 19 Aug 2019 09:45:22
Salah is our best and most important player! Ask klopp. Who almost never rests him or substitutes him. Why? Because he is marked by up to 3 players every single game since the start of last season and still got better numbers than Mane and Firmino. Its actually disturbing and queit sad how little praise Salah gets since last season. without Salah Mane and Firmino wouldn't get half the space, time and chances that they get. Good thing we have people who actually know this at the club. Otherwise we would be back to where we were before he arrived, challenging for top 4 instead of league and CL titles.

17.) 19 Aug 2019 09:58:56
Still makes me laugh that United fans mocked us for signing Sadio Mane when they signed Mkhitarian? How did that work out?

18.) 19 Aug 2019 10:45:23
He also has incredible work rate too RedWolf, he’s always pressing defenders to make a mistake.

04 Aug 2019 16:10:50
I can definitely see where ed001 is coming from regarding Pep. If he acts that way during matches he's probably worse in training. That would wear thin I'd imagine.

{Ed025's Note - theres nothing like a bit of jealousy to get the juices flowing stone..

1.) 04 Aug 2019 17:09:03
Jeolousy? For what? He will be leaving them in a year or two anyways 😂😂😂.

2.) 04 Aug 2019 17:10:57
Why does anyone care what Pep does?

3.) 04 Aug 2019 17:13:38
We are the better team. I didn't think so in the first half but they couldn't keep up with our intensity. I think city are the faves to won a pen shootout. I knew gini would miss, bless him he had a decent game.

The big difference between the teams is the fans. Ours p##s on city's tbf. Well proud of the team. Last season was no fluke. We ARE the better team.

And am i jealous of pep? Why would i be when we have klopp? I think we will win the league this season. If we play like we did in the 2nd half we are the best team in the world.

4.) 04 Aug 2019 17:16:41
Champions of Europe ain't jealous of these lot haha.

5.) 04 Aug 2019 17:19:31
It really wound me up when Glenn Hoddle says "that was a awful penalty" about Gini's penalty, but then Phil Foden takes pretty much the exact same penalty but to the other side and Alisson guessed the wrong way, "that was a fantastic penalty".

Sorry, just had to get it out of my chest.

6.) 04 Aug 2019 17:20:30
We played ok but not sure best team in world based on the second half
. unlucky not to win though.

7.) 04 Aug 2019 17:26:19
Ok? Good god what game were you watching? That was man city we made look like wolves in the 2nd half. If liverpool aren't the best team on the planet there is only city, madrid and Barcelona who can come close. Maybe madrid are the best but we are excellent. Proud.

8.) 04 Aug 2019 17:34:05
Very bitter indeed. was really . just appreciate our second half performance and keep it at that .

9.) 04 Aug 2019 17:34:25
An important point epic, and it needed to be said mate.

10.) 04 Aug 2019 17:34:33
Made them look like Wolves, is that supposed to be an insult?!

11.) 04 Aug 2019 17:35:11
Madrid are the best? What you smoking Robbiesline? Awful team and manager.

12.) 04 Aug 2019 17:30:17
We are Champions of Europe. Europe is a continent. Not a country. Many words come to mind. Jealousy is certainly not one of them. Overall, we were the better team, even though it was a game of two halves. Penalties always have been and always will be a throw of the dice.

13.) 04 Aug 2019 17:40:40
City still won though, I think City are the best team in the world at the moment arguably.

Its just pre season, no need to go all crazy!

14.) 04 Aug 2019 18:06:04
Neither team played like a pre season game. Both at 100% imo. Not a lot in it. May have been different outcome if bobby, mane and origi had taken pens. No, it was no pre season game. Really good game of the highest quality.

No, calling them wolves is not an insult, of course. Wolves are a fantastic little team. But a little team they remain. For now. We out played them in the 2nd half. Massively. Most teams would not have managed a shot on target.

15.) 04 Aug 2019 18:48:56
Calm down robbiesline, just saying it wasnt a world beating performance. You are wearing red tinted glasses and u need to take them off occasionally my friend. 2nd half was decent. We didn't win.

16.) 04 Aug 2019 18:53:50
Thanks Robbiesline. At least now I know that I'm not the only one that was really miffed by that piece of commentary.

17.) 04 Aug 2019 18:56:44
Why are we so bitter. We said The other day this game doesn’t count as it’s a friendly and friendlies are for fitness not result and performance. City are a fantastic team and Pep is a fantastic manager. But we also have a fantastic team and manager. Why do we care about anyone else. It’s all sour grapes. We should be just as gracious in defeat as we are in victory. For me it was a cracking second half and puts us on the front foot for the important one in 5 days time.

18.) 04 Aug 2019 19:03:55
Great match to watch and it was very even overall. man City’s midfield looked far more dangerous than ours, but out intensity in the second half was fantastic and we looked most likely to win until it went to penalties.

Takeaways for me were
- Our fullbacks need to be careful, Trent almost let in City’s attack on a number of occasions and we looked a bit rusty defensively first half, improved significantly in the second half
- Gomez is the best partner to VVD for me, his pace and covering was exceptional at times
- I really thought our midfield looked toothless first half, bringing Keita on made a big difference, as he immediately injected some urgency and his willingness to carry the ball at their defence caused them real problems
- Origi looked OK but still think he’s not a completely natural wide player, neither does Ox look completely comfortable at LW. we missed Mane who could well have made the difference
- Salah looked dangerous as always, just needs to get a bit sharper with his finishing

Good game to dust of any remaining cobwebs, looking forward to the season.

{Ed0333's Note - I still feel we need to bring in a left sided player to challenge Manè.

19.) 04 Aug 2019 16:57:49
You should know.

20.) 04 Aug 2019 17:35:07
Aaaagh, ed025 strikes again. I tried not to bite but.

{Ed025's Note - i dont even need a hook now robbie, but lots of you are obsessed with pep and i dont know why, you have a great team and are doing very well indeed, but all i see is pep did this, pep did that, if we had their resources, city get help from the refs, city are cheating the FFP rules etc....it not a conspiracy mate and you all need to deal with it..

21.) 04 Aug 2019 18:23:49
We will be fighting for all honours this season that I can be sure ynwa.

{Ed025's Note - oh i see hampo, so you are going to play your strongest side in the FA and carabao cups then?...hmm we will see mate..

22.) 04 Aug 2019 18:24:32
Ed25, stating facts about people's acts is not jealousy. You as a perennial bitter, should know that.

{Ed025's Note - i think we all know im not bitter redwolf, i do say things that sometimes the red side dont like but thats not bitterness mate its saying it like it is, but you dont like that do you?...i know you dont like to hear negative things about your club and thats fair enough but dont lets bury our heads in the sand..

23.) 04 Aug 2019 18:28:46
The best team? Salah himself, would have had a quadruple all on his own. I'm happy with the intensity, drive and determination we played with for the whole 95 mins. Our fitness levels are off the charts and blew them away physically which is why we were able to dominate them in the second half throughout.

For full disclosure, I know this is a preseason game BUT Pep did not take it as such and neither did our boys nor Klopp so I'm happy with the way we matched them up and bossed them overall. Let the games begin.

24.) 04 Aug 2019 17:34:36
Pretty petty response Ed. Don't know if it was to wind me up or ignorance on your part, but either way, have a good day. Since you don't know me and since I'm on record saying City would win the league again this year, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you are just trying to wind me up. Didn't work, sorry about that. Have a good day.

{Ed025's Note - just a bit of friendly merseyside banter stone, you have a good day as well my friend..

25.) 04 Aug 2019 19:19:17
No Ed, you make ignorant responses about people you don't know. My comment was in response to something that Ed001 had mentioned. You took my post way out of context. I made an observation and made a comment. Your response to that was silly and sounded bitter on your part.

{Ed025's Note - ignorant is certainly not the word stone i can never be accused of that mate, you would have to be a real flake or certainly very precious to think that..

26.) 04 Aug 2019 19:17:03
Not got time to read the replies but spot on stone.

27.) 04 Aug 2019 19:28:47
Saying what like it is, Ed25? Who told you you tell it like it is? Whoever did that conned you forever, man. All you have is an opinion, end of story. Also, That we are jealous of City? Come off it, man. It's not about someone saying something negative about LFC gets me wound up. There is nothing negative about stating a fact. Just as there is nothing jealous about stating a fact. You should understand that by now.

We have a fantastic team and a fantastic manager. So do City. We belted them today and even Pep himself would admit it if he's honest and had Salah had his shooting boots on and a bit of luck, we put 5 past them with Salah getting a quadruple. Now, that is telling it like it is.

{Ed025's Note - if my autie had balls she would be my uncle though redwolf, you cant really complain about luck after the amount you had last year mate, but i do agree that you have a great team and a great manager which is something i have proclaimed for quite a while now..

28.) 04 Aug 2019 19:45:34
No need to patronise topdog. We were the better team who had more than twice as many shots on target than them.
In the second half we blew city away. We didn't lose in 90 minutes. We were better in the second half than they were in the first. That isn't redtinted glasses. Do you know what happens to near on every team who face city? They get hammered. We were more than their equal. If we are not the best team in the world right now? Who are? City? If youd asked me at half time i would have said city. But they're not. We are. Yes they won on penalties, but in the league that's a point. If we play with the intensity we did in the 2nd half, i can't see any team in the league beating us. Except maybe city. They are absolutely brilliant.

And so are we. Its okay top dog (im getting nose bleeds too)

29.) 04 Aug 2019 19:54:16
Apologies topdog. I probably am getting a bit over excited. Running out as European champs was great. We were good though brother, weren't we. Hendo in that second half! What a player. All the boys who came on were class. Ox, shaq, lallana, matip. Keita too. Good times are coming i think.

30.) 04 Aug 2019 19:56:03
First half we were poor, second half we were the better team. Positives to take from the game, I would say Firmino who looked sharp and Salah, although he didn’t take his chances. Defensively we looked solid when Matip came in and we dropped the high line. It’s only the Community shield so not the end of the world, on a side note I just knew by looking at Gini’s face and body language he would miss lol.

31.) 04 Aug 2019 20:19:32
Exactly RedWolf. I am very secure in my support of Liverpool and am certanly not jealous of any other club in the world. I love Liverpool and will never apologize for that and will certainly never be jealous of anyone.

32.) 04 Aug 2019 20:08:37
maybe you should look up the definition of ignorant then Ed. Your response to my post was ignorant on your part. Not stupid, just ignorant in the fact that you responded firstly to somehting that was not addressed to you and secondly you took it out of context as you obviously did not know the meaning behind the post.

{Ed025's Note - you are taking things i say too seriously mate, you need to chill a bit i think, you are confusing banter with real life and maybe a bit of jamaican old holburn would be the order of the day..

33.) 04 Aug 2019 20:24:18
Ed having luck didn't make a difference over the 38 games or are we going on about Evertons cup finals.
We got beat Once last season by a team that out scored us but didn't out play us on the night and if you say that Kompany wasn't lucky to not see red for the challenge on Salah then you are a bitter.
Man City won the league because they where the best team over the 38 games but we didn't get close because we were lucky.
Luck over the season evens itself out.
Good luck for the season Ed but I don't think you will find a lucky win in the Derby gets you 2nd in the league.
No offence just saying it as it is.

{Ed025's Note - none taken tyler, but you were very lucky in some games last season and had very little injury worries mate, you deserved to be where you are though i will say that and your manager is top notch..

34.) 04 Aug 2019 20:36:42
Ed025 you’re going to need a bigger boat.

{Ed025's Note - sharks dont frighten me JK...im a street end boy.. :)

35.) 04 Aug 2019 20:46:13
Wrong again Ed, Kentucky Bourbon is what is needed. Nothing better really. I love the banter with you really and have nothing but respect for you and all of the Eds.

{Ed025's Note - i do like a JD or twelve myself stone, sometimes we all have to lighten up a bit mate as life itself is serious enough, banter seems to be a dying art but i must say that most on these pages actually get it..

36.) 04 Aug 2019 20:56:00
agreed Ed. I'm a Woodford Reserve bourbon person, I do like Talisker Scotch though as well.

{Ed025's Note - you have good taste mate..

37.) 04 Aug 2019 21:02:49
Top man, Ed25. I never mentioned luck in any of my responses to you. You did so that's a personal prob. you are going to have to go figure out on your own.

Stone, I'm totally cool with my team and my love for my club of 35 years. If anyone is accusing me of being jealous is projecting his/ her own jealousy. If I was not arsed when Utd of all clubs (who have won more trophies than City have fans) were ruling the roost and we were also-rans so I am definitely not arsed nor jealous about them or even City now that we are Kings of Europe and giving City a bloody nose each time we play them to the point of Guardiola often losing it and often making an arse of himself on the touchline for the world to see. Up Da Freaking Pool, man!

38.) 04 Aug 2019 21:09:40
as do you Ed. You are a good person, I can tell. I hope Everton finish in top 6. I"d love to meet you if I ever have the chance to visit England. I'm an Anglophile so I hope to soon.

{Ed025's Note - that would be cool mate..

39.) 04 Aug 2019 21:51:22
Salah, thank you mate.

40.) 04 Aug 2019 22:13:27
Don't know if the refs are on their side, but City have certainly rigged the goal line technology!

41.) 04 Aug 2019 22:15:00
Thats a good point redwolf. If you play with the type of intensity we did today i guess you need someone special to get and keep you as fit as posible. didn't look like the boys had had a long summer. That was a shock seeing em chase down (on the rare occasions we didn't have the ball that 2nd half) i think it shocked city too.

42.) 04 Aug 2019 21:47:00
Ed025 having banter on the 'Banter' site, just read back through this entire thread and he has made no offensive or personal remarks whatsoever.
We lost no matter how many chances created, but the game means nothing so no worries. Some people are oversensitive and as for Peps yellow card, there will be plenty of managers receiving them this season, so it tells us nothing.
You have given me a good laugh this evening Ed025, keep going pal.

{Ed025's Note - i intend to greenflash mate..cheers..

02 Jun 2019 20:15:23
Ed01, I hate to ask but are you going to do a match review? I'd recommend all 10's if you do and maybe an 11 for Alisson. He and VVD have truly made a HUGE difference. I can't help but wonder how many of the few opportunities Spurs got would have gone in against almost any other keeper. Also, there was a tackle by VVD against Son that isn't getting as much attention as I think it should. it was very subtle as he made it look easier than it really was. Just wondering what your thoughts were on those points.

{Ed001's Note - I am going to do it tomorrow, but I won't do the usual one with ratings. Just an overview of the match. I don't want to get into individual performances as they had not played for 3 weeks and it was far too hot. It was like the first game of pre-season, players were just not right and it was a huge mistake to schedule the end of the Prem season so much earlier than everyone else's seasons. Typical of the morons running the Prem to continually mess about and leave things in a mess. They need to schedule things in line with everyone else, including the transfer window.}

1.) 02 Jun 2019 20:24:19
They all should get 6. Oh wait they did.

2.) 02 Jun 2019 20:28:44
I agree. there is much too much criticism of the match in my opinion. No one was taking into consideration the temperature. As hot as it was, it was even moreso on the pitch. I understand why the match was a little slower not only the heat but the 3 weeks off. Can you tell me what you thought of Alisson please? I don't think I'm overstating how huge he was in that match am I? I'm sure the goal looked much smaller to Spurs because of Alisson. It was almost like they knew their shots had no chance.

{Ed001's Note - he was outstanding. His positioning is top class. It is not just that though, he is commanding and has some excellent kicking to aid him.}

3.) 02 Jun 2019 20:53:57
You're a riot, WYred.

4.) 02 Jun 2019 20:56:45
Ed1, I have the opinion of, Alisson is the best keeper in the world right now, would you agree or? if not who do you think is? just interested to hear your opinion mate, I know you rate him highly but do you rate him as the best?

{Ed001's Note - I was just saying to Ed0333 that he is the best I have seen overall. Right now he is the best in the world, DDG has had such a bad couple of seasons he can not be considered as the best currently.}

5.) 02 Jun 2019 21:04:02
Completely agree, if he carries on performing like that, he'll be a legend. Well, he already is in my eyes. Cheers mate.

6.) 02 Jun 2019 21:19:41
yeah, I agree as well. I'm trying really hard not to look at this through red tinted glasses, as I'm sure Ed025 would accuse me of, but I can't help but think that 1 or 2 of the opportunities that Spurs had would have been goals agains almost anyone else including Ederson, Llloris and De Geil. He makes some difficult saves look pedestrian because of his outstanding positioning. I think that is why people like Ed025 don't give him the credit that he deserves. What they are missing is that a lot of times when outstanding saves are required, it is because of poor positioning.

{Ed025's Note - i am actually a big fan of alisson stone and i dont know when i have not given him credit mate, him and VVD are the reason liverpool have gone from also rans to premiership contenders..

7.) 02 Jun 2019 21:34:35
Ederson is as good as Alisson two very good keepers.

{Ed025's Note - its very close ace, ederson is brilliant with his feet but i feel alisson just shades it with his agility mate..

8.) 02 Jun 2019 21:46:59
Genuinely redwolf can't tell if that's sarcasm or not 🤣.

9.) 03 Jun 2019 00:52:56
The thing is, he made a couple of errors this season and we never once gave him criticism. That is the perfect testament to his quality, we have pure trust in him. All his saves yesterday looked routine, you'd be angry if he didn't save them. But what he always did was get the ball away from danger, that's a hugely underrated ability for keepers. He always gets a strong hand and pushes the ball wide, he dealt with every catch and every punch with ease. It's funny to compare the outcome of 12 months ago to now, we lost a scrappy game due to a nightmare keeper performance. This year we had a keeper who could keep a clean sheet and win. His fee is already justified in my eyes.

Napoli, Barcelona, spurs. 3 absolute season defining games this season, he not only kept a clean sheet in every one of those games but he directly influenced the outcome of each. Last minute block napoli, 5 or 6 quality saves needed in the semi. If Barcelona scored at any point the tie was probably lost. And the final he was flawless. For a goalkeeper to have that much say and influence in crucial moments to win a champions league is amazing. Huge love for him. I never make opinions on worlds best because i always think to judge a keeper properly you need to watch him every game., I don't get to see GK around Europe often enough to compare but I wouldn't swap him for anyone for sure. How's oblak performed of late does anyone know?

10.) 02 Jun 2019 21:52:59
Ed001, just to check, Alisson is the best keeper you have seen in the context of our players only or overall I. e the schmeichels and the kahns? I still cannot believe he’s playing for us mate. He’s just unreal for the whole season, and with scope to improve as well!

{Ed001's Note - Schmeichel and Kahn couldn't kick a ball. As an overall keeper, because the game has moved on so much, he is the best.}

11.) 02 Jun 2019 22:16:52
vvd did really really good.

Just would like to ask for opinion from ed001
did vdv made a mistake by rashing out and try to make a tackle which didn't work out, leaving son running with ball facing the net and we were so lucky that the ball was cleared by our wonder boy Arnold accidentally?

{Ed001's Note - it wasn't accidental, watch and see how he hangs a leg out just at the right time to block the ball.}

12.) 02 Jun 2019 22:47:39
ed001 Alisson reminds me of David Seaman in his prime at arsenal makes every thing look so easy because he all ways seems to be in the right position. So he never seems to have to make the glory looking saves Because of it. Ederson is great with his feet and so fast coming off his line but I do think Alisson positioning is by far better. Am sure his save percentage was better and it was his first season what says even more for him.

{Ed001's Note - Seaman was average, it was made to look easy because it was playing behind that Arsenal team that never conceded chances, not because he was good.}

13.) 02 Jun 2019 21:30:24
Ed, you got on to some of us for suggesting that Alisson was better than Ederson. You were probably just trying to keep us in check. I get it. Nothing but respect for you.

{Ed025's Note - cheers mate

14.) 02 Jun 2019 21:59:26
You truly are a star Eds 025, as unbiased as anyone I've met.

Did you venture into town today, looked a great day to be a Liverpodlian.

{Ed025's Note - no mate i was recovering for most of the day, but the scenes were fantastic..

15.) 02 Jun 2019 22:04:18
Yep can't disagree with that Eds25. Have a good week.

{Ed025's Note - you too ace..

16.) 03 Jun 2019 11:24:49
I saw us knock what? 5 past him last season. Then in the world cup he didn't look amazing.

But i believed when everyone was saying how good he is. And now, i wouldn't swap him for any keeper in the world. Does that make him world class?

I guess it does.

17.) 03 Jun 2019 10:46:57
Ed025 me old mucker, without sounding bitter I seem to remember you said Pickford and Allison were very similar ability wise early in the season, I take it your views have since shifted over to the red side a tiny smidgen🤔.

{Ed025's Note - just a little bit virgil, i think alisson is better in the air, better on the floor, is more agile, commands his area better, marshalls his defence better, is better on crosses and quicker off his line, but besides that there is nothing much between them mate.. :)

02 Jun 2019 19:05:22
As happy as we all are, can you imagine how Dave Evans and Sean Cox feel right now? I'm thrilled for both of them. YNWA.

1.) 02 Jun 2019 19:36:17
Nice touch, Stone. They must be elated to bits about what this team did last night and have been doing all season. As Klopp always says, "There are many more important things in life than football". My heart goes out to them and their families. YNWA!

2.) 02 Jun 2019 19:48:05
Thank you RedWolf. I know there are hundreds if not thousands just like Dave and Sean.

3.) 02 Jun 2019 19:55:46
For those that don't know, Sean Cox got to watch the game at home with his family. Keep the recovery going Sean.

4.) 02 Jun 2019 20:11:48
that's fantastic polecat. i hope he gets to anfield next season.

5.) 02 Jun 2019 21:06:52
Well said stone mate.

6.) 02 Jun 2019 21:08:05
Brilliant news, Polecat. Livestrong, Dave and Sean! Livestrong!

I don't think so yet FC8. It's reassuring to know that Ox and Keita can step in though. It really depends on the opposition and the matchups whether or not Keita or Ox will supplant Gini or Hendo.

How is Son playing in that match? Didn't he get sent off against Everton?
