Ed's, is Rashford as a replacement for Salah an option?

stoneage

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it.}

1.) 02 May 2024 10:06:06
I’d hope not. He’s awful.

2.) 02 May 2024 10:16:39
Good lord! Absolutely not! 1) We're a team, not a group of individuals and b) Man Utd to Liverpool?

3.) 02 May 2024 10:31:41
??????.

4.) 02 May 2024 11:36:31
Haha that's funny.1, he no good n 2, we don't do business either way with each other.

5.) 02 May 2024 12:25:50
Deary me.

6.) 02 May 2024 14:24:31
Wow that ones up there with the bald question!

7.) 02 May 2024 15:05:28
A replacement mardy arse?

8.) 02 May 2024 18:35:34
Rashford bad attitude, shows up about 5-8 games a season. Lazy. I'm sure plenty of United fans wouldn't be too fazed to see him sold this summer. Garnacho way more effort, heart and passion.

9.) 02 May 2024 18:56:29
Rash ford would be a good signing on a 6 month loan deal. The reserves need cover for Ben Doak whilst he recovers from his ACL. Koumas would still be first choice for sure, but at least they’d then have an impact sub.

10.) 02 May 2024 20:50:26
God no.

11.) 03 May 2024 01:32:31
Wow, just wow.

12.) 03 May 2024 06:37:23
Leek in disguise…Leek in disguiiiiiiisssseees…. stoonee aageee you’re Leek in disguise.

13.) 03 May 2024 07:57:59
I actually had to go back and double check them posters name. I originally thought Leek up to his old tricks again.

14.) 03 May 2024 14:02:35
It was just for banter, guys! Some excellent replies :) Apart from the Leek comments, that's just one step too far haha.

15.) 03 May 2024 14:59:04
Nice backtrack, Stoneage ?.

16.) 03 May 2024 15:48:42
If you say so Lee. I mean Stoneage

??????????.

17.) 03 May 2024 20:52:25
Yikes!

18.) 04 May 2024 00:45:22
Just for banter haha, good one mate I like it. It's almost as funny as the first one :) . lol. Keep them coming leek.

Hearing that Barcelona aren't happy with Raphinha and may look to sell. Could he be an option for LFC eds? Thanks.

stoneage

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 24 Dec 2022 22:16:43
Over to you VVVV ….

2.) 26 Dec 2022 11:23:22
No chance and not good enough anyway.

3.) 26 Dec 2022 16:17:37
He did ok at Leeds. He’s not had much opportunity at Barcelona yet in fairness, all he has to do is wait for the inevitable Dembele injury to get his chance. Given our threadbare attack we could do worse than sign him on a six month loan.

27 Jan 2022 20:39:03
Hi Ed2. Interesting you've noted this week that the teams that are interested in signing the players LFC have for sale (Philips, Minamino) are those that have players we are interested in too (Bissouma, Raphinha) .

Do you think this means that deals may be easier to strike, as both parties are interested in dealing, rather than it being a hostile takeover?

stoneage

{Ed002's Note - No, I am afraid not.}

1.) 28 Jan 2022 07:21:26
If Miniamino is for sale, why have we apparently canned an Arsenal offer for him?

2.) 28 Jan 2022 08:36:54
Taki should only be loaned out, and if Arsenal made an offer I'd say can cannonly go on laon, no option to buy and let him go there for game time.

05 Dec 2024 20:12:10
I love Salah. I really do. I want him to break all the scoring records with Liverpool. But I hate the way his performances improve whenever a contract is being negotiated. It happened 3 years ago, he got his improved terms, and then the performances dropped off markedly in the interim. I lost count the number of times last season that I said ‘that was not worth £350k this week, Mo. Hope it doesn’t happen again.

stoneage

1.) 05 Dec 2024 20:14:53
That was well spotted and captured in Michael Edwards tool, that's why they stretch the negotiations this time to keep that performance going, of Salah hate it as he has to work longer for that contract.

2.) 05 Dec 2024 20:38:22
A one year rolling contract with options to extend is the most sensible option. What with the world cup and Afcon happening over the next few years, it could be that he plays too many games and gets worn out/ down about elimination again.
People can't wait to slag FSG off but their prudence has built solid foundations, unlike plenty of other clubs.

3.) 05 Dec 2024 20:43:39
Rolling monthly contract would deal with that risk.

4.) 05 Dec 2024 21:36:26
rolling monthly contract? that's absolutely hilarious. people live in lala land.

5.) 05 Dec 2024 23:47:01
Good work by the club to keep him hungry and on his toes?
Some wanted him gone and to take the cash instead. I'd sooner have the 20+ goals a season, myself.

6.) 06 Dec 2024 00:31:49
stone - I was just thinking this the other day! I recall posting on here after many many games during those years "did anyone see a $350k/ week player out there today" lol a bit tongue in cheek but you get the drift.

7.) 06 Dec 2024 05:37:36
Doesn’t Salah score 20 plus league goals a season.

Surely he can’t be out of contract every season.

02 Dec 2024 02:55:36
I actually think it’s a good thing we lost to Nottingham Forest. Mainly because if we were still unbeaten the pressure (from the media) to go all season unbeaten would be unbearable. As it is, we’re top. Comfortably. And no one is saying we must not lose.

Also, I’m sure Arne Slot learned something about our squad and the PL that day. All good.

stoneage

1.) 02 Dec 2024 04:40:36
Never a good thing losing mate, no matter what but Slot was only just getting started and Forest deserve respect, they've done well so far so fair play to them.

The media are always going to be hyping up the teams doing the best and piling on the pressure, it's upto the lads to be professional and take no notice of them. The media is pure poison, if anybody listens to them then they are in the wrong profession.

Luckily our lads seem very focused, if they listened to the media Nunez and Robbo would be ill with their mental state of mind but it's pretty clear they don't give a damn about what people say and that's the best way.

We have a unit of a team - win at all costs and it doesn't matter who spouts what.

2.) 02 Dec 2024 06:18:23
Your namesake isn't focused. Said the contract talk is in his head. Maybe it's a negotiation tool. Seems like he's desperate to sign a new deal tho.

3.) 02 Dec 2024 07:28:07
Wasn't good for me, it's the only game I've been to this season. Pobably best I stay away from Anfield for the rest of the season. ?.

4.) 02 Dec 2024 08:34:59
I would like the points but I agree to a sense.

I would take the lost and be where we are now rather than be in the same position and unbeaten. Ie. We won that game and likewise Man city, arsenal and Chelsea won one of their games they lost.

The players prove to themselves they can handle a loss and thinking only about winning every game to win the league and not protect an unbeaten record. The media would be non stop talking about it. Better to get it out of the way. Any less pressure is welcome although it will be big anyway.

1 game, one action at a time.

5.) 02 Dec 2024 09:25:07
Not bad from Mr. Slot. Not bad at all for a first season coming from a "lower league". You either know how to use what you have and step up, or you don't.

6.) 02 Dec 2024 10:58:38
As they say cream always rises to the top.

33 years old and he just made Haaland look like Troy Deeney.

2.) 01 Dec 2024 20:55:56
Haaland is this generations version of Kane, we used to call them goal hangers, back in the day.

08 Oct 2024 04:51:30
One thing to talk about: clean sheets.

9 wins out of 10 for Slot is great, but 6 clean sheets is notable. Remember last season when we always conceded first? We’ve moved on. Titles are built from the back. Signs are good.

stoneage

1.) 08 Oct 2024 07:44:35
I agree, stoneage.
Give me clean sheets rather than all that heavy metal and lack of control nonsense. 7-6 on aggregate CL semi finals are not good for my nerves!

2.) 08 Oct 2024 09:06:31
Its nice only having to score one or two goals to win games.

3.) 08 Oct 2024 09:07:23
Exactly. Call me old school, but I've coached for 25 years after my playing days ended.
I've played at semi-pro level here in Aus after moving from Liverpool at 18 to play in the old NSL. I've had to endure "modern" coaches inflicting their recently learned "advanced" styles of play.
Call me a dinosaur, but I've always built teams on the foundations of a solid defence. If the opposing team can't score, you've got a good chance of winning.
I've then always promoted a fluid attacking approach. Use the talents of your team and give them license to do what they do best. Make the game enjoyable.
But, defence and possession are key. If they don't have the ball they can't score, if they do have the ball but your defence is effing solid, then you'll do well.
I once took a state Div 1 team (1 level below the old NSL here) through an entire season whilst conceding only 14 goals over 36 games. Needless to say we won the league.
It might not have been the most entertaining style of play ever seen, but results count.

{Ed025's Note - You sound like Sean Dyche Burkey.. :)

4.) 08 Oct 2024 09:21:39
Funny 25 :) Re read my comment about a fluid attacking approach and using the talents of what is at my disposal. I'd love to have a Suarez raining down on the opposition, but only if supported by a solid base such as Virgil, the best CB for a generation, in my humble opinion :)

{Ed025's Note - just dont apply to be Dyche,s replacement Burkey.. :)

5.) 08 Oct 2024 10:01:59
Hey Stoneage, that's all well and good but here comes the "but":

"We have played nobodies" hence, none of this matters. As if the goal posts are bigger when you play "nobodies" and then suddenly become smaller when you play "somebodies".

6.) 08 Oct 2024 11:04:12
There's definitely more control about us. It's still a work in progress though as we have not seen it for sustained periods yet.

And I don't think we have completely eliminated the slow starts that lead to early chances as AC Milan, Bournemouth, West Ham and Palace games showed.

Would like to see some faster starts in the home games that are coming up against Chelsea, Leverkusen, Brighton, Villa, Real and City. That is when Anfield really gets into it.

We are heading in a good direction though.

7.) 08 Oct 2024 09:30:20
What if I took you as my number 2 25?

{Ed025's Note - i dont want nothing to do with that shambles of a club Burkey.. :)

8.) 08 Oct 2024 09:59:23
Ed25, the pic in Burkey's avatar looks like Dyche too, lol.

{Ed025's Note - so long as he hasn,t got that gravel voice and whiney nature Oli i can live with that mate.. :)

9.) 08 Oct 2024 17:52:31
Burkeyboy, you did also say that it wasnt the most entertaining football to watch. Sounds a lot like Dyche to me mate ?.

10.) 08 Oct 2024 21:06:30
Fair play.

11.) 09 Oct 2024 00:20:03
Trying not to lose rather than trying to win = The Talking Waistcoat.

12.) 09 Oct 2024 09:28:20
However we have been very lucky with var ruling atleast 2 offsides in our favour…. otherwise we would have been behind…. Still giving them early chances away and better teams will punish us for it. Need to switch on straight away.

Just goes to show how difficult contract negotiation with highly sought after assets is. Also the perils of paying one player whatever he wants in terms of dressing room harmony.
