Is Lovern all but gone Tris?

{Ed001's Note - all but gone? No, he might well leave but nothing has been done yet. No offer has been acceptable so far. Plenty of time yet though.}

1.) 29 Aug 2019 23:54:31
Looks like Roma have got Smalling instead.

2.) 30 Aug 2019 00:39:51
With Roma seemingly looking like they are getting smalling I'm guessing they have ended their interest in lovren?

3.) 30 Aug 2019 06:30:26
Jeez, they must have been desparate, Smalling is an awful footballer.

4.) 30 Aug 2019 17:00:46
I'd suggest Lovren is staying after what Klopp said today i. e. we had four CBs last season and still had to have Fab do it due to injuries and that they will ALL be needed again this season.

5.) 30 Aug 2019 18:55:25
If we want to challenge for all the top honours you need 4 capable CBs over the course of maybe 50/ 60 games. Be a huge risk to let him go, just 1 injury immediately leaves us bare at the back. Lovren is far from perfect but as squad player for backup with his experience there aren't many CBs around with better quality as a 4th choice. 1 more year and then let him choose his next club if he can't hold down a regular spot for us.

This time last year matip was in his position but took his opportunity to claim 1st team spot. Competition is strong in CB and let the young lads have another year of development before we prematurely rely on having to use them.

6.) 30 Aug 2019 20:42:13
I really don't understand all of the negativity about Lovren. I know he's had a few bad games but he's a very good defender.

If we get an injury or two and he gets into the team, I'd put money on him doing a Matip and keeping his place (injuries permitting, of course) .

When he gets his chance, he knows what he needs to do to keep his place. He's seen it with his own eyes.

{Ed025's Note - hmmmm..

7.) 30 Aug 2019 21:35:49
One thing that has been clear is lovren looks much better beside VVD, as does matip and Gomez. Yet matip and lovren are poor together. The key is when they have a leader, someone to organise and talk beside them they look much better. Lovren and matip don't show those qualities.

Like Ferdinand and vidic were such a good pair as they complimented each other's strenghts.

Henchoz looked good with hyypia leading but put henchoz beside matip for example and they would struggle.

You need the right pairing to suit your players strengths. Lovren and matip have had a much better performance level over the last 18 months with virg than anytime previous.

8.) 31 Aug 2019 23:46:28
For once I’m with Ed25 on this. Lovren is not a very good defender. He’s a decent 4th choice but one that you hope you never have to use.

9.) 02 Sep 2019 00:34:12
{Ed025's Note - hmmmm.

why hmmmm, what are you insinuating ed025 . He is a Liverpool player so must be very good . an earlier post put Matip as one of the best CBs in the world, Lovern is not far behind if not even better, world cup and champions league finalist . The red shirt automatically turns you into the best in the world, remember Djimi Traore, a champions league winner.

{Ed025's Note - you sound like redwolf roy, now i know your very tongue in cheek here but matip has done very well to be fair to him mate..

02 Oct 2018 13:57:03
How ya Ed hope your ok mate? Ed002 have you heard any rumbling's transfer wise about Liverpool in January?

{Ed002's Note - Nothing explicitly about January Barry, but I have explained elsewhere that the club has been showing some interest in players.}

1.) 02 Oct 2018 20:04:54
Ok thanks a million Ed👍.

12 Jul 2018 19:46:54
Hello all! I really do believe that we have a squad to be at least in the top 4 every season but for me what we really need is a cup win. Yes I know it's the league we want but a cup win would I believe would really get the ball rolling for us.

1.) 12 Jul 2018 20:05:34
Agree Barry, it's time for us to win a trophy.

2.) 12 Jul 2018 20:12:40
Make you right BIL about winning a cup will give us that winning mentality which we sorely miss.

3.) 12 Jul 2018 20:26:57
Totally agree, we've got to break that ice somewhere along the line.

4.) 12 Jul 2018 20:34:38
Good point but I really think we will win the league this year. After the strides we made last season I think we’ve recruited far better than any other team. I really think city are going to be caught out big time this year. I think there will be far less of a fear factor.

5.) 12 Jul 2018 20:41:42
This is the longest trophy drought I remember,7 seasons a season longer than the last. Any trophy will do me this season. In 13 years we've won 1 trophy for me that's not good enough. I hope we can juggle the squad enough to compete on 4 fronts. That means staying in the cups so that our young players can get a run in the team and be ready when called upon. Towards the end of last season we had Camacho Woodburn and Jones on the bench but I can understand Klopp's reluctance to use them especially after the Chelsea match when every game was a must not lose.

6.) 12 Jul 2018 20:58:45
When we win the league, the flood gates will open methinks.

7.) 12 Jul 2018 21:08:35
It’s fair to say we are hopeful of a win this year. Perhaps silverware is highly possible. But iwe our unrealistic pressures on ourselves by saying we will win this year. The players haven’t set foot on the pitch, transfers aren’t over the line, injuries could happen or hopefully not. I really do think the Premier League has evolved into such an interesting league! We now have a top 6 divide which rests on a knife edge, underdog teams like Leicester possible of winning the league with pure grit and now teams like Wolves who have the potential to re-establish themselves as a force in the league from a lower league. Sadly a lot of this is down to spending power in my opinion but who wins the league each year is not so foreseeable!
Whether we can get silverware or more depends on how we play game to game (obviously) so let’s keep on backing our team for a tasty season of attacking football and hope we’re rewarded at the end of it!

8.) 12 Jul 2018 21:24:11
We have a champions league finalist in our team.

9.) 12 Jul 2018 21:28:28
Plus a World Cup finalist as well. Good DL.

10.) 12 Jul 2018 22:06:54
Spot on aoe, me too mate.

11.) 13 Jul 2018 00:02:14
Agreed. Let's forget the league title and go after the league cup.

Seriously what difference does it make!

12.) 13 Jul 2018 02:20:35
Let's go after every game next season.

13.) 13 Jul 2018 09:40:51
I saw a post from MKS the other day relating to our "success" and nearly responded stating "how have we been successful? we've not won anything since Klopp's arrival! ". then I realized success is "the accomplishment of an aim or purpose".

We aimed to improve our squad - accomplished (and still improving! )

We aimed for top 4 - accomplished in back to back seasons

Now our aim has to be to get that silverware! - I'm aware we have tried and failed on 3 occasions in finals : (

Let make 2018/ 2019 the year for silverware!

14.) 13 Jul 2018 16:32:33
It's going to be a long season with lots of games. It is important to remember we won't win them all. So please do not rip the team / club to shreds when we do loose.

{Ed033's Note - What should Liverpool FC do if there are any loose shreds? :)

19 Mar 2018 12:09:02
What's the chances of Ndidi Ed001?

{Ed001's Note - very slim Leicester are not interested in selling him.}

1.) 19 Mar 2018 15:19:20
I like Ndidi and think he would be a good replacement for Emre. I would still like to see someone of Jorginho's ilk come in as well though. Someone to pull strings from deeper when needed. With Naby Keita arriving too I think those three would be an excellent mix and would allow us to take our time finding someone to replace Phil without getting desperate.

2.) 19 Mar 2018 18:04:33
I would take Ndidi tomorrow as he is very good and LFC fans will have a good chance to assess him as he will be on duty with Nigeria at the WC. Now will LC sell? That is another issue as Ed02 has said.

3.) 19 Mar 2018 21:32:15
I want both Ndidi and Jorginho to join Keita at the club. Yes, that means 3 new first choice mids in one window but Klopp knows very well that the above 3 can help the team dictate play and take our game to the next level.
I'd give the GKs and defenders another season and concentrate on strengthening the midfield for now.

4.) 20 Mar 2018 10:19:49
finding someone to replace phil? he's a good player i get it, but id say that his role has already been replaced by another role.

its not about replacing him anymore next window, its about taking the club to another level.

19 Nov 2017 11:54:47
Morning Ed's and Red's. Can anyone tell me the name of the young CB Ed025 was talking about on the Sharkpod please.

{Ed002's Note - Perr Shuurs.}

1.) 19 Nov 2017 15:54:53
Thanks Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome Barry.}

Hiya lad's hope your all keeping well😁. Anyway I'm happy enough with our results the defence has and will get better. What a player Bobby is for us. Big respect to Matip he really has up his game but it is true that when your playing with the like's of Van Dyke you will raise your game. Also pretty happy with the CL draw so all good there I reckon. The Bobby Duncan"drama"is a tad ridiculous Liverpool are in the best state both on and off the pitch and the last thing the need is somebody like Duncan thinking they are the next Fowler and making waves at the club so get rid of him. He's done it a City so he has prior. Lastly speaking as a dad as most of us are on here I'm just gutted for that poor we girl in Spain and for her family at the age of 9 It's so wrong and sad my thoughts are with the family and Barcelona F. C. So here's to 3 more point's this weekend lad's YNWA.

1.) 30 Aug 2019 14:51:49
Hey Barry mate hope your well!

2.) 30 Aug 2019 15:05:40
All good mate. How are thing's in Liam Neeson land hey?

3.) 30 Aug 2019 16:19:43
Rainy and cold as usual mate! Nothing to do but work and follow the footy lol.

4.) 30 Aug 2019 16:33:47
And the odd beverage my friend🍺.

5.) 30 Aug 2019 20:25:34
That's a great post Barry as you're looking at the big picture and appreciating the overall positives that we and including myself tend to take for granted.

While also acknowledging that in life some realities hold so much more importance than this game of football we get so hung up on.

RIP to that little girl so unfairly taken from her loved ones.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely har..

6.) 30 Aug 2019 21:13:38
Cheers Har and Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - how are you keeping barry?, hope alls well with the family mate..

7.) 30 Aug 2019 22:25:17
Yeah all good here thank God. I was just reminiscing with my brother about the banter slagging that we used to have with other fan's and that includes Utd supporters. It never got dirty or nasty. Like for example the Munich air disaster would be a total no go area and if you did go there you'd definitely get a clip around the ear. The way things are now between rival fan's is well nasty to each other. It seems that the loss of human life is just another thing to use against the fan's of the club that the tragedy happened to. I am really lost for words as to why banter between opposing fan's has gotten so disgusting and nasty but it has to stop. Its not funny and it just makes the fan's look like total well you know. Anyway Ed025 rant over mate.

{Ed025's Note - people are a different breed these days barry, there is a definite lack of respect in society and that filters down to football, the police are like the keystone cops and are not backed at all by the justice system which is a complete joke, and dont even get me started on the do-gooders mate..

8.) 30 Aug 2019 22:54:49
You always say here that after a Merseyside derby no matter what the result blues and red's would all head out for a bevvie after.

{Ed025's Note - its actually still the same for most part barry, except near the ground where the idiots hang out mate..

9.) 30 Aug 2019 23:14:41
Sound Ed.

10.) 30 Aug 2019 23:26:19
Just one last thing Ed I genuinely look forward to the day when Merseyside rule English football again mate.

{Ed025's Note - so do i barry mate...but im 61 and so everton had better their arses into gear mate.. :)

11.) 30 Aug 2019 23:42:08
Hmmm me and you should take over then🤣.

{Ed025's Note - i will put it to the board mate.. :)

15 Aug 2019 10:37:19
Seriously what a player Bobby is and yet some people just don't see his all round play.

1.) 15 Aug 2019 11:03:41
Couldn't agree more, possibly the best player I've seen play for Liverpool in my life time (I'm 27).

2.) 15 Aug 2019 12:02:20
Mane and Salah will always get the headlines, but without bobby we lose a whole element of our attack. He is hugely important to our season.

3.) 15 Aug 2019 12:09:35
This is Bobby's 5TH season at LFC and if you don't know or still have doubts of the things he brings to the team and how much he provides in or out of possession, then I cannot help you. Also, I will no longer be spending m time defending him on this forum anymore. If you can't see what Bobbie does for us, the issue is with you, not with the rest of us or Bobby.

4.) 15 Aug 2019 13:09:44
Where is Ed0025 at these times? Didn’t he say Firmino is rubbish and not great? (Only joking Ed0025 I actually think you are such an asset to this sight when the red tinted-ness gets too much and we start to believe that Adrian is the best goalkeeper that has ever lived! )

Red Sandman.

{Ed025's Note - im actually a bobby fan sandman, i like him playing more advanced like he did yesterday mate...hes much more effective..

12 Aug 2019 23:01:44
Ed025 mate how are ya?

11 Jun 2019 15:55:57
Well lad's here's my take on things. We definitely need to cover both full back positions but I also feel that we need more goal's from midfield. I haven't a clue how many we scored from midfield but I just feel need more goal's from there.

1.) 11 Jun 2019 16:27:13
I agree about the cover for the fullbacks Barry but I feel we need someone to come in to rotate with the front 3. Feel we have been very lucky with injury's the last 2 season up there. And apart from Brewster who I can't judge, I don't think are back ups are good enough to come in for a long period of time. I do think we will get more goals from midfield if Keita pushes on and we will have the ox back in there.

2.) 11 Jun 2019 18:49:08
I fully agree with the cover needed at both FB positions BUT we need the cover with one versatile forward to cover ALL positions in the front 3 along with Origi (if he chooses to stay) . I know Brewster may get chances BUT he is still raw and will need time to get going cos a) He is young and raw and b) He is just a kid, like it or not.

I don't think we need another midfielder to provide goals from midfield again a) Ox and Shaq will provide goals and b) Our midfield is NOT really set up to score goals. They are set up to press, recover the ball, get forward when needed and provide the front three with ammunition to do damage. The is the way Klopp likes to play at least on the face of it. He may however, change his mind and go for a no. 10 who can score goals cos well, he did go for Fekir and played Bobbie in 10 when needed.

3.) 11 Jun 2019 19:05:21
Fair point's there lad's.

4.) 11 Jun 2019 19:05:51
I don't think goals are needed from midfield. We have 3 forwards getting the goals. No different than a lone striker and 2 midfielders getting them. We've scored more goals than last year so no problem for me. Milner, shaqiri, wijnaldum, keita have probably 25 goals between them. De bruyne, gundogan and 2 silvas have probably similar numbers.

5.) 11 Jun 2019 19:27:04
Right on cue Barry, Robbo’s done his hammy and is a doubt for the start of the season according to Sly.
We should call you Mystic Barry.

6.) 11 Jun 2019 23:05:23
And this week's lotto numbers are:6,10,17,23,29,32.

7.) 11 Jun 2019 23:56:04
Both correct in my opinion. Fekier or similar could do both jobs, cover front 3 and play AM when required.

08 Jun 2019 21:07:49
What a week Andy is having cause he's just scored for Scotland👏.

1.) 08 Jun 2019 21:22:39
The kids and the missus bought a Rabbit today. My youngest has named it "Andy RabbitSon" 😂.

2.) 08 Jun 2019 21:37:06
His last goal at Hampden was against Elgin City. Testimony to his hard work.

3.) 08 Jun 2019 21:43:57
Ya got to love that🐰.

4.) 08 Jun 2019 22:12:45

Have to agree with Ed001 regarding Sir Bob Paisley. He wouldn't have lost a second of sleep moving a player like Salah on but there would have been a replacement lined up well in advance. I honestly don't have a issue with Salah moving on if he really want's to as Ed002 has always said players are transient they come and go and that's football lad's.
