Eds, who will be fired for this saga?

raviance

{Ed001's Note - I very much doubt anyone will lose their job. They should, but it won't happen.}

1.) 08 Jun 2017 06:52:38
Edwards should go as head of transfers he should have made sure the club was not put in this position.

{Ed001's Note - has he been there long enough to alter anything? I think he should be given the chance to resolve this first.}

2.) 08 Jun 2017 07:19:12
Personally thought it was a crazy appoitment in the first place.

{Ed001's Note - why?}

3.) 08 Jun 2017 07:24:58
His previous role as technical director/ performance analysis gave him experience in how transfers are conducted? Obviously not.

{Ed001's Note - I fail to see how that makes any difference? How many people have any experience in conducting them? The role has far more to it than simply negotiating transfers. Narrow minded comments like yours are embarrassing, give the guy a chance! He might well have the skills needed to perform the role to a high level for all you know.}

4.) 08 Jun 2017 08:50:41
So where does the buck stop for this embaressment if not at the feet of the bloke in charge of transfers.

{Ed001's Note - that depends on who was involved. The guy in charge is new to the role and might well have delegated it out while he got settled in. As for the buck stopping, Klopp is a repeat offender, he has to carry a share of the blame as well.

The question is how to proceed and ensure nothing like this happens again. That is the role that Edwards has to fulfil.}

5.) 08 Jun 2017 10:04:47
I am astounded how Klopp seems to routinely be implicated in these faux pas. Is it just naivety? Or trusting that other people are doing there jobs?

6.) 08 Jun 2017 11:31:37
To be fair ed if we had got a monchi would this of happened. The fella might probe to be good but you can't deny putting someone ibto such a position without any real experience is a silly risk for such a big club as are. The smaller clubs can get away with stuff bt there is so much scruitiny on us we can't mess up.

Its the same issye as appointment a small time manager and big one. You do get different results.

Eds, I read that Ings is back in training. What is the news on Joe Gomez?

raviance

{Ed001's Note - Square Tomato is the best person to ask about that.}

1.) 20 Feb 2016 10:06:40
He's doing great he can run and sprint now he could be working with a ball in April, he's also been saying how brilliant Danny Ings has been in keeping up spirits.

2.) 20 Feb 2016 12:42:19
Good to know Square T. Thanks for your info.

3.) 20 Feb 2016 20:20:24
Totally agree ed about begovic we should of bought him instead of migs all that time ago it seems he's such at waste at Chelsea (no offence) behind coutious don't know how to spell his name sorry.

4.) 21 Feb 2016 08:37:02
I would've loved Begovic when he left stoke and if we can get him now that would be 2/ 3rds of that triangle tgats so important in a team - gk, cbs- subotic again stated by ed02, could be that player- sell the cbs who have failed. .

24 Aug 2013 07:51:35
A question for the eds. Will we be looking at Victor Moses if Willian moves to Chelsea? {Ed002's Note - There has been no interest shown by Liverpool at this time.}

I think Klopp's replacement has to be someone experienced, mature and able to handle the pressure. Amorim may not be ready yet. I really hope we look at the likes of Simone Inzaghi.

raviance

1.) 17 Apr 2024 09:52:28
Has done exceptionally well at Inter. Won the league and reached the CL final last time around. Good shout.

2.) 17 Apr 2024 10:18:29
Big Sam fits the bill then ?.

3.) 17 Apr 2024 10:23:09
Done a great job at Lazio and Inter to be fair. Would not be against appointing him at all. Funnily enough, also loves a back 3.

4.) 17 Apr 2024 12:25:17
Arne Slot.

5.) 17 Apr 2024 13:18:27
Inzaghi has done a fantastic job at both Lazio and Inter - both clubs are doing a lot better than before he arrived. Inter have strolled to the league title and won a bunch of domestic cups under him. The last ingredient I want to see from Inzaghi, which would take him into world class manager territory, is winning crunch knockout CL ties against strong teams.
I know Inter got to the final last season (and performed well against a much better set of players), but their route to the final was quite kind.
So far, however, Inzaghi is proving to be very good.

6.) 17 Apr 2024 13:33:31
Ed002 has said Slot isn’t an option. Inzhagi doesn’t speak a word of English and doubt he’s interested in moving to a country where he doesn’t speak the language.

7.) 17 Apr 2024 13:55:45
Amorim for me. The guy has punched above his weight and won (and about to win) titles and Cups while his club keeps selling their best players. Imaging what he can do with more funds to spend (LFC are no longer a selling club) on this good squad in addition with his great ability to work with young players. Nah, Amorim all the way for me.

8.) 17 Apr 2024 16:25:26
To be fair Simone Inzaghi has done exceptionally well, but does not speak English and is apparently very settled in Italy. It’s Amorim all day long for me, and if reports of Amorim being Edwards first choice are true, then I trust him and Hughes to get the deal done to bring him here. The pool of managers after him that are suitable but importantly available are a drop down.

9.) 17 Apr 2024 16:51:24
Gonna have to correct whomever said inzaghi doesn't speak English. It's not fluent and he prefers not to speak it but he does speak English. I know because I was the person he spoke to at a professional event two years ago in Switzerland.

10.) 17 Apr 2024 17:12:34
@Nevada. I know you watch the Italian league quite extensively, so I respect you knowledge on all things that side. Was researching if he speaks English and all results came back as he doesn’t, but that’s obviously wrong. It’s good to know he has a good grasp of English.

On a completely separate note, what are your thoughts on the young Argentinian talent called Matias Soule, who is currently applying his trade over in Italy? Highly rated by a number of English and European sides and could fit in Amorim’s 343 formation as a right inside forward. YouTube clips are deceiving and is not the best tool to judge a player, although he does looks a talent.

Would be good to get an opinion from someone who watches Italian league football.

11.) 17 Apr 2024 20:01:35
@alonsk1786

I wouldn't say his grasp. of English is good, it's basic. We didn't speak long it was basically just very short chit chat (my Italian is about as good as his English)

Soule has a lot of talent but he's very rough. Personally I wouldn't say he's ready to come to premier league yet. If I were him (or his agent) I'd say stay where his is for a couple of years. Italy is a much better league to recruit attacking players in my opinion because the pressing and marking is very similar to UK. France and Germany is very spacious so it takes a lot of players from those leagues a while to adapt.

He is very gifted with the ball at his feet but he's quite reactionary, I judge players based on how well they read the game since all the talent in the world is nullified by not being able to understand where space and danger will develop.

Hope that helps.

12.) 17 Apr 2024 23:28:51
@Nevada. Much appreciated on the information regarding Simone Inzaghi and Matias Soule. Probably best that Soule keeps on developing in Italy if that’s the case.

Richard Hughes is meant to be connected in Italy, so hopefully he dips into the talent pool over there. Interesting summer ahead for sure.

13.) 17 Apr 2024 23:48:24
Emery for me.

28 Aug 2023 04:57:36
Eds, Could it be that we are not signing anyone because we intend to play with only 10 men for the rest of the campaign?

:)

raviance

1.) 28 Aug 2023 05:20:08
honestly we play much better with 1 man down. How abt going down 2 in the next game?

2.) 28 Aug 2023 11:34:58
I think that's right and have you noticed that it's the non HG players getting sent off.

18 Feb 2022 04:34:22
Are Liverpool looking to sign playes from South American leagues? City have got Alvarez and now may buy Savio.

raviance

{Ed0666's Note - I’m pretty sure we have an extensive scouting network globally. I’m also pretty sure either Claudio Cannigia or Diego Forlan was our Chief Scout in South America once upon a time so yes we have presence in South America we must if we signed the Brazilian goalkeeper or was that Alison’s brother who reccomended him?

1.) 18 Feb 2022 05:12:33
I have to say I'm a bit jealous of some of the South American talents City have been buying. I would have loved Liverpool to have signed Alvarez and Kayky. Very smart signings. I wish they just bought players like Grealish all the time!

{Ed077's Note - at least let those players do something noteworthy for City before you start being jealous. So many wunderkids get hyped up everyweek, yet so few actually end up making an impact.

And even then you m ight be better off sniffing around the Fulham academy anyways 🤣🤣🤣

2.) 18 Feb 2022 05:07:16
Yes Cannigia was or man in S. America and yes AB's brother was involved in the the initial recommendation.

{Ed0666's Note - thanks for clearing that up Larry

3.) 18 Feb 2022 08:37:40
I'll give you that one, Ed077 😂.

4.) 18 Feb 2022 10:25:47
Ed077 has a point, now many “next Neymar/ Rivaldo/ Ronaldinho” have there been that have turned out to be more like Kennedy/ Denilson/ Richarlison etc.

5.) 18 Feb 2022 11:38:04
I remember feeling jealous about Gabriel Jesus and Gabigol many years ago. Both turned out to be good ones to avoid!

Not all youngsters work out and while Brazillian names may sound flashy and exciting, i'm pretty happy with find the likes of Harvey Elliot.

6.) 18 Feb 2022 08:27:36
Your welcome Abididdydomdiddydo😁.

7.) 18 Feb 2022 12:59:46
@Taurus1 how you can call Gabriel Jesus as a happy one to avoid, is beyond me. He is a very decent player, and for 27mn a pretty good buy too. I think he is pretty underrated due to the galaxy of stars City possess.

{Ed001's Note - quite the opposite. He is carried by the rest of the team. He is so bad that Pep chooses to play him, the only striker in their squad, on the wing rather than through the centre.}

8.) 18 Feb 2022 13:39:38
I think he doesn't have the personality to be "the" striker for a top team. I find his off the ball movement really nice. And he has an occasional trick or two. I am no expert but this is what I could make out watching him.

9.) 18 Feb 2022 14:15:40
Lol GJ he was one of them, highly thought of but like many, failed dramatically. He's never done anything and never will.

10.) 18 Feb 2022 14:44:22
Some City fans will claim he creates space for the other players to score though 😜🤣.

Chuffed. 3 wins at Anfield should be our aim for the group stage.

2.) 16 Sep 2021 10:27:59

28 May 2021 14:20:30
Keeping aside money issues for fantasy sake. If there is one midfielder I would sign, it would be Saul Niguez.

raviance

1.) 28 May 2021 16:03:34
Agreed, and he is rumored to be available, radiance!

2.) 28 May 2021 16:37:55
Top player, absolute fantastic midfielder.

3.) 28 May 2021 17:53:18
Saul or Barella for me. Both fit our system perfectly. Wouldn’t mind Bellingham or Gravenberch either mind.

4.) 28 May 2021 21:28:29
Saul has fallen off a cliff in last two years. If avoid especially at what he will cost.
