If reports are to be believeed that he is off to Belgium, all the best to Mignolet. He handled himself with class through a very difficult time for himself.

1.) 05 Aug 2019 11:39:29
It's tough being the starter, then losing your place and sitting on the bench for 2 years (first behind Karius then Alisson) . All the best to Migs. YNWA.

10 Mar 2019 17:06:16
Ed, is there any truth that Coutinho is looking for a move to Manchester United or is this just lazy journalism?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what he wants, sorry. But certainly he is one of the players Barcelona want sold this summer.}

1.) 10 Mar 2019 17:52:33
Thank you ed.

2.) 10 Mar 2019 19:13:36
Ed, if you ever have any openings in your rodeo, I'd like to apply.

{Ed002's Note - I'll take note of that.}

3.) 10 Mar 2019 19:29:23
Ed002 why would they be so quick to get rid when they went to the trouble to attain him. Is it financial or another reason.

{Ed002's Note - He is not playing as well as they want and they are willing to cut him lose and take a hit on the funds bringing a replacement in.}

4.) 10 Mar 2019 21:06:18
certainly Liverpool wouldn't be interested, would they?

5.) 10 Mar 2019 23:49:33
No chance Stone mate, not at the price Barcelona would be after.

6.) 10 Mar 2019 23:48:54
Would we want him back after way he left?

7.) 11 Mar 2019 01:23:05
Coutinho can play LW AM RW CM he can rotate with the front three and in the middle. I understand he faked injuries because he wanted his DREAM move but he was doing great with us. apart from that he has friends here in Firmino Moreno and now we have Alisson Fabinho he will feel at home here and he will give us his best years.
Just imagine
Alisson-A. Arnold-Gomez-VanDijk-Robertson-Fabinho-Keita-Coutinho-Salah-Mane-Firmino.

8.) 11 Mar 2019 10:25:47
I think we have moved on as a club and are better off without him. Don't think he works hard enough off the ball and he is a high light player that looks better than he is because of the goals he scores but how many shots does he have but fore one goes in would much prefer are front 3 over him and in the middle ox all day for me. I know he has more ability on the ball than ox but look how hard david silva kevin de bruyne and bernardo silva. Think its time to move on.

9.) 11 Mar 2019 11:24:53
Asensio is apparently available in the summer for £69m apparently, I would much rather we buy him. Amazing player with serious potential, probably cheaper than Countinho (not that I would want to see him back) don't get me wrong, Coutinho was an amazing player for us, but he cooked his goose with the fans over how he acted trying to leave - well he did for me anyway!

{Ed001's Note - is Asensio really amazing?}

10.) 11 Mar 2019 13:17:53
I loved Couts during his time at Liverpool. However, I wouldn't be happy if we were to take him back. I just think for the price we could do better in terms of signing a player that would fit Klopps system. For me, id go all out to sign Son from Spurs. I don't think they'd sell unfortunately. And Levy isn't exactly a dream to deal with either.

11.) 11 Mar 2019 14:17:01
Are you seriously saying you would prefer Son to Coutinho.

We will not be getting him back, but coutinho is a wonderful player. creative and game changing, just what we need in games such as west ham and Leicester.

12.) 11 Mar 2019 15:03:19
We drastically improved when Coutinho left last season. We are currently having one of our best seasons ever. We do not miss him. When we play against deep defences Coutinho is not the answer, we had the same struggles vs this kind of strategy the entire time Coutinho was with us.

13.) 11 Mar 2019 17:04:33
When did we drastically improve after Coutinho left? 1st Jan 2018 we were 3rd in the prem at the end of the season we were 4th. We started to concede less goals due to VVD coming but we didn't score more league goals.

Of course we miss him to some extent. Did you not watch the Man U or the Everton games, this is when he could have made the difference.

14.) 11 Mar 2019 18:39:40
I don't think either will ever happen but, if push came to shove, I would definitely have Son over Coutinho. Coutinho is excellent don't get me wrong, but Son's all round game is superb and he is an absolute grafter. He'd suit out style perfectly as well.

15.) 11 Mar 2019 19:27:02
Coutinho was in and out of games and went missing a lot. Then he would bang a worldie in and all would be forgotten. He really should get more time and space in the Spanish league to do his stuff. So if he's struggling is really a player we would want back for £100 mill plus. No thanks move on don't go back.

16.) 11 Mar 2019 21:36:01
The fee alone make him unobtainable before you consider the other factors, such as how he left, how well we played without him, the cost, his overall salary etc etc.

We should move on, he’s not worth the £100 million being mentioned for me. For that we could sign both Fekir and Brandt with change to spare.

17.) 12 Mar 2019 05:51:11
For the crazy amount of money for buying Countinho, I predict he will just end up staying at Barcelona for maybe 2 more seasons. Luckily he would have some game time but definitely the the star player of them. And finally he would end up like Cesc Fabregas, leaving there cheap to Italy maybe?

What do you think about my prediction Eds?

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona want him sold and will drop the price if they need to - selling him obviously saves them money on payments to Liverpool.}

18.) 12 Mar 2019 22:42:44
So we get kicked twice then? Losing him to Barcelona and now losing what I would imagine would be a significant chunk of his transfer fee because they want to sell him. I know we don’t like to talk money but that’s kind of kicking us twice - why would anyone want him back (unless it’s so we can sell him again and get paid something?! )

19.) 14 Mar 2019 03:29:34
Maybe we can do something to negotiate a good deal involving the payments left.

20.) 16 Mar 2019 21:07:02
That’s confusing, why would it save them money on payments to us? Surely any money owed has to be honoured regardless of whether he is there or not? Or are we talking about add ons for appearances, etc?

{Ed002's Note - We are talking about a large sum of money that would be due if he stayed, played and Barcelona were successful. I have explained the structure of the fee before. Sadly many of the fans don’t believe it.}

02 Nov 2018 18:19:38
Ed002, is there any potential impact to the recent allegations against PSG and Man City. I know not Liverpool related, don't beat me up to much.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure what allegations have been made but if it relates back to the 12/13 era it would be perhaps a case of UEFA finding their new turbo-charged feet in terms of handing out penalties. I have seen several posts about the general theme, if it is no more than bitching about it really being much worse than it was, that may well be truce. They got abrupt punishment that perhaps could have been more serious, but someone will need to give me a pointer to the specifics for me to rationally comment.}}

1.) 02 Nov 2018 23:27:17
I read Psg should sell mbappe and neymar because the money used for them wasn’t financially fair?

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid I am not sure what is meant by that.}

2.) 04 Nov 2018 11:19:13
I believe the allegations were that Infantino met with the Qatari’s and said if they buy PSG he will overlook FFP in their favour and ensure that they got to host the 2022 World Cup. There was something similar to do with Man City but I’m not sure of the full details of that.

{Ed002's Note - That sounds like nonsense from Twitter. Regardless, that is all totally untrue.}

3.) 04 Nov 2018 14:32:32
Yeah I assumed as much. Thanks Ed002. It was football leaks that broke the story and I have no idea how reliable they are.

{Ed002's Note - They have seemingly got some information that dates between 2014 and recently which is why it is muddled.

11 Jun 2018 23:26:31
Just read on the Echo that Liverpool are "set to step up the transfer chase for Xherdan Shaqiri". I'm still think there is a chance for Fekir or one of the others mentioned by the eds, my opinion is that Shaqiri is an addition to. But, what do I know.

1.) 12 Jun 2018 05:29:24
Yeah Shaqiri transfer not related to Fekir.

2.) 12 Jun 2018 06:32:19
But getting Shaqiri would mean we are not getting Malcom and the likes of.

3.) 12 Jun 2018 08:37:36
Malcom is pretty much set for Inter Milan. Contract was negotiated but Bordeaux doesn't like the proposed payment structure by Inter Milan (Inter wants a loan with a buy at the end of the season and bordeaux wants the money now) .

btt: I don't rate shaqiri at all. Saw him (the few times he played) at Bayern and wasnt impressed, saw him at Milan and wasnt impressed and he didn't impress me at stoke either. He was a very talented player back in the day but he thinks way to highly about his abilitys and has an attitude problem.

4.) 12 Jun 2018 09:51:40
He also looks a little chubby imo.

5.) 12 Jun 2018 12:21:56
Oh god the irony in the comment above :D.

6.) 12 Jun 2018 15:59:17
A lot of Liverpool fans seem to be in favor of this transfer. And if he joins, I hope it works out. But I do worry about his attitude. Some are justifying it as not wanting to play for a losing side like Stoke, but these same problems were there at Bayern - when he felt he was too good to be coming off the bench; as well as at Inter - when he felt he wasn’t getting enough playing time. He reminds me of Balotelli, where he’s had his chances at the big clubs and shouldn’t deserve another one, despite being blessed with natural talent. Just my two cents. and again, if we sign up, I’m backing him to the hilt.

7.) 12 Jun 2018 16:58:51
What’s a transfer chase?
How do you step one up?
How do you get set up to step one up?

{Ed002's Note - You can only do it when the club is on "red alert".}

8.) 12 Jun 2018 18:21:48
You need a war chest as well.

9.) 12 Jun 2018 18:38:32
Does a transfer chase have to take place in a Babelcopter?

10.) 12 Jun 2018 21:05:06
A transfer chase is something that happens after you've monitored aggressively.

11.) 12 Jun 2018 23:21:54
Is it not when you start warming up the fax machine and prepare a delegation for a long journey?

The irony of the chubby comment @ fat boy slim 😂😂😂😂.

12.) 12 Jun 2018 21:00:00
Ed002 I’m curious, how do clubs go about initiating “red alert? ” Sirens?

{Ed002's Note - Through Google.}

13.) 12 Jun 2018 23:53:46
I have few misgivings about signing Shaqiri. Anyone who scores worldies is welcome. I think it's a decent signing and he could be one that really surprises people.

14.) 13 Jun 2018 04:16:27
Not all transfer chases have Babelcopters, but all Babelcopters have transfer chases.

15.) 13 Jun 2018 07:35:31
This is anfield has an article on Shaqiri written by a Stoke fan who does a podcast. He says he was their best player last season, albeit not difficult and thinks some of the question marks pointed at him over his attitude are unfounded. He does question how he would fit in with genpress like has been said on here but in today’s market 12m isn’t bad for a player who could come on and produce magic from the bench.

{Ed001's Note - oh well if one fan says it then it must be true.}

16.) 13 Jun 2018 08:32:39
It’s an opinion on someone who watched him every week last season, more than anyone here who is giving an opinion.

{Ed001's Note - and the opinion of a biased fan who might know f all about the game as well. Still pointless isn't it no matter how you try and dress it up. I am sure if I was to look I could find plenty of fans who watched him every week who would disagree, but that would be just as pointless doing so. As for more than anyone else here, you are being a blert now as you have no idea what anyone else has done. Attitude like yours is why it is a waste of time anyone giving an opinion, I am certainly done speaking to you. Little point if you are just going to make up stuff you couldn't possibly know.}

17.) 13 Jun 2018 11:26:33
I’m passing on the opinion of a bloke who runs a fans podcast for stoke. He obviously watched him week in week out last season and has praise for him, if someone watched Stoke more than him on a Liverpool transfer rumour page I would be amazed and seriously question what they are doing with their spare time!
Would he be biased to a player leaving? I’m sure I wouldn’t be in the same position.

{Ed001's Note - no, you were denigrating everyone else's opinion to try and make some bloke who does a podcast's more valid. You have no idea if the guy even has a clue about footie or not. As for watching them week in and week out, if you live anywhere but the UK, every single Prem game is screened live and on repeat, so anyone can watch them all very easily. You go to any bar or café here and there is at least one game being shown, usually more. It is not difficult in reality to have seen every single Stoke game last season.

As for biased, you have no idea what his biases are. He might have a particular liking for fat lazy players who spend 85 minutes a game throwing their arms in the air complaining about the ball not being at his feet even though he was the one who actually gave it away.}

18.) 13 Jun 2018 11:56:11
I'm really ok with shaqiri. still young, yes he's had his issues but he is coming to an interesting that interesting mid-20s part of your life where you start to think a bit more clearly than you did at 20.

19.) 13 Jun 2018 11:53:13
I am in no way saying this guys view is correct, I’m just passing on an alternative view from someone who has watched him more than people on here last season.

20.) 13 Jun 2018 15:43:13
Ed was it his attitude problems and selfishness that seen other larger clubs pass on the chance to sign him?

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

to all of the eds. thank you for this site and all that you do. I know that you don't have to do this. The site is extremely appreciated and an important source for most of us. Your insight and voluntary contributions are extemely appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - Thanks for that, we appreciate it.}

28 Jun 2020 21:13:06
Ed002. Sipsmith VJOP is excellent. Thank you for mentioning it a ways back. I like it neat. High quality indeed.

{Ed002's Note - I am on a local fling at the moment with Trevethan Cornish Gin.}

27 Jun 2020 21:13:27
I can't help but think about all of the people who weren't able to make it 30 years to see this happen. I want to also say that I'm most especially thinking about poster Salah because he was close to not seeing this happen. This is a very special time for us all. YNWA.

1.) 27 Jun 2020 22:07:43
Good to see you stone and thank you.

I agree with you, it's such a shame some of the most diehard fans couldn't see this, including the sites very own Ron Keague.

I hope you are doing well mate?

2.) 27 Jun 2020 23:11:43
Salah, if you go to the post by zoom in your profile (should be there if you replied to his post) I think he clarified that Ron is ok to his knowledge.

3.) 27 Jun 2020 23:42:22
for us in the US, there are a lot of people mocking us saying that we just became Liverpool fans since Klopp. For me, I became a fan in the '70's reading about Keegan. Also, my father told me that our family immigrated from Liverpool. I have ho idea if that's true or not, but I instantly became a fan and have followed the club religiously since. Words cannot describe how happy I am and I can't imagine how happy the people of Liverpool are. All of you are more special to me than you will ever know. I've posted on here before that we are all a very special family only seperated by geography. Liverpool are very special to my heart and I cannot express how happy I am for all of us. YNWA.

4.) 28 Jun 2020 02:13:02
Yes salah sorry lad didn't mean to cause any upset by my comment, just hadn't been here for a while prior to our winning the league and remembered having a lotta lotta laughs with ron on here, as WYRed says as far as I know Ron's still alive and kicking, Mark Labett aka the beast would be rubbing his hands in delight (unlike the dark destroyer who is always so glum (alas that's a story for another day) (not a bad word to say about the sinnerman and frosty knickers herself, the vixen on the other hand is a bit of a harlot) ) ) hoping Ron and all other fellow reds are well, did not mean to unnecessarily panic anyone and I'm glad the original post was taken down to avoid any confusion (it was just some humour that I thought ron would like)

5.) 28 Jun 2020 02:36:11
Is Ron ok or not lad's? We really need to address this please.

6.) 28 Jun 2020 10:07:15
Please provide any info you have on Ron Kreague's whereabouts and current status. We really need to know.

7.) 28 Jun 2020 11:00:12
As far as I know ron is still well, I haven't been here for about a year and thought he would still be a regular so I posted it as a bit of banter for him as he always appreciated a zoom post, didn't realise he hadn't been a regular.

8.) 28 Jun 2020 11:29:30
What's with joking on a subject like this? Seriously?

9.) 28 Jun 2020 14:11:40
I'm keen to make amends, I'm going round the bend (s), old ronnie boy loved a joke, but this particular egg had no yolk and for that I apologise once again I was unaware of the fact that ron had not been a regular poster here for some time and therefore didn't think it would cause such sadness, apologies to all.

01 Jan 2020 19:54:54
Ed002, any truth to the rumour that Real Madrid have approached Mane's agent about a possible summer move to Real Madrid?

{Ed002's Note - Try searching.}

1.) 01 Jan 2020 22:30:23
I sent this message early this morning and it was posted after your initial response.

2.) 02 Jan 2020 19:44:02
Can’t understand why Mane would want to step down to a second rate outfit like Real, he’s on his way to being a legend at Anfield. Right now he’s the man.

20 Dec 2019 15:41:29
does anyone have any idea how Nate Phillips is doing on loan so far this season? I have high hopes for him.

1.) 20 Dec 2019 20:06:33
He seems to be starting most games recently, and Stuttgart are third in the 2nd tier in Germany. He must be doing something OK to stay in the side.

2.) 20 Dec 2019 22:14:14
Didn't even realise he was in Germany! Glad to hear he is pushing on I rated him very highly a few years ago.

Missing carra gold's loan reports massively!

respect rsanchez. thank you for your reesponse.

Also, I'd like to say that for the future, I'd absolutely love to see Weston McKennie at Liverpool. I think he has tremendous potential.

Powerful, I respectfully disagree with your assessment as I feel it is a bit early to judge him just yet. Klopp is very slowly integrating him into the team. He has the skill and ability to be a really strong contributor. Personally, I don't think he should be playing on the wing, I see him more as a Firmino backup and eventual replacement. As a side note, I'd still LOVE to see Julian Brandt come to Liverpool. I think he'd be an extremely strong addition to the front line and could fill in nicely for Salah or Mane.

Is Nat Phillips not seen as a viable option as cover at CB?

{Ed002's Note - Klopp has not been looking for cover but a first choice player to be alongside van Dijk. If Lovren were to leave and Klopp have the confidence in Gomez as first choice then NP would be ideal as far as I can see.}

Niall I disagree. City will be highly motivated next year regardless of Pep's contract situation. They are extremely good and professional footballers. Now, if you were going down the line of Pep has worn out his welcome and his players are sick of him, I'd be more open to that point, but just to say that they will be impacted because of his contract, I don't think that has any bearing at all. I agree more with Ed001 about how Pep's antics wear thin after a few years. We'll see though. Good discussion though.

Ed002, I agree that it really doesn't make sence from a business standpoint. I like him as a player, but is that the player we really need at this point? Being in America and having been a Red Sox fan for 45 years or so, I really hope that FSG aren't going down the same road and trying to buy trophys at the expense of the long term. FSG sacrificed an aweful lot by trading their young talent to get ready now talent in order to win a world series. Now they are suffering and are rebuilding again. LFC cannot afford to do that. We need to stay in the top 4 for a prolonged period of time, not win and then sell.

{Ed002's Note - They started well with the Red Sox but the last few years and getting caught cheating has not put them in a good place. But at Liverpool they do not exert control over players - that remains the responsibility of the club. Liverpool do indeed need to have a plan to move folks along and replace them with younger players.}

I love Milly and think he has contributed as much to our success as anyone. I'm sure that he would LOVE to end his career with Leeds.

I'm sure that after his career is over he will say that he is a Leeds supporter, but I'd love to know what he has to say behind the scenes about which club came in second for him.

For me he is the quentisetial Liverpool player. I will always be a Milner fan.

If Sala's shot or Mane's rebound goes in, it is a completely different match. Also, if that penalty was not called it very well could have ended 0-0. But, as always football is a game of ifs.

You either are or are not a Liverpool fan through thick and thin.
