Salah has signed a new long term contract!

1.) 02 Jul 2018 08:04:23
Just heard that. great news but in this day and age it doesn’t mean that much.

2.) 02 Jul 2018 08:11:35
You're not wrong Cobra.

3.) 02 Jul 2018 08:12:42
Let’s just enjoy and be happy with what we have.

4.) 02 Jul 2018 08:14:42
Thats great news perhaps ramos as put him off signing for real madrd lol😁.

5.) 02 Jul 2018 08:23:51
It does mean something!
If we sell him it’ll be for a fortune!

6.) 02 Jul 2018 09:16:13
Pretty sure pipco signed a 5yr contract 6 months prior to handing a transfer request in.

7.) 02 Jul 2018 09:18:04
It at least means that we are recognising when players roles within our team change and reward it.

8.) 02 Jul 2018 09:35:12
Salah may have signed a new contract but we now know he speaks about himself in the third person ;)

Players come and go but the contract protects us against losing a prize asset (likely increases any transfer fee in the future), acts as a good PR message that the club are moving on after the disappointment of the CL and the player has been awarded for his efforts last year. So let’s try and be positive, roll on 2018/ 19!

9.) 02 Jul 2018 09:39:15
Seems some People are never happy. Would you prefer it if he refused a new long term contract?

10.) 02 Jul 2018 09:46:52
Swishcleaner has it spot on, just be happy that he's got the new contract instead of complaining about things that have happened in the past!

11.) 02 Jul 2018 12:37:51
OP, why are you boasting about your own pay rise?!

That's just bragging!

;-)

12.) 02 Jul 2018 16:17:50
@WYred downvoted your post there by accident, was made up to see it let me upvote as well (strange? ) but just wanted to say I 100% agree with what you said there, I like Jurgen’s quote when he said that mo signing on shows that we reward individuals for the part they play FOR the group, and that it proves there is a home for world class talent at Anfield - that bit made me smile massively! - great way to start the season knowing 2 of the front 3 are already signed up for extensions and hopefully Mané will have some the same come August. great post lid!

13.) 02 Jul 2018 17:01:27
I must admit Zed, it feels bloody good, I can go get an extra car per week now and still be rich!

Chance would be a fine thing mate lol.

Hope you all enjoyed my message to the Liverpool fans earlier ;) .

14.) 02 Jul 2018 17:58:29
Means nothing these days except he won't be moving this Summer.

15.) 02 Jul 2018 18:32:40
Cheers red pasty, it amazes me how far the club have come over the last decade and hopefully more to come. I really hope we win something (CL or Prem) with Klopp so he can sit alongside the greats that have managed the club.

16.) 02 Jul 2018 22:56:05
Happy he signed but also worried now about the curse of the new contract, Sterling, Suarez, Couthinho (think there might be another name or two) all signed a new contract and were sold within a year.

17.) 03 Jul 2018 08:59:08
mflis, I wouldn't worry to much, if I have a season like last season again then no team will be able to afford me! let's just enjoy the moment mate :) .

18.) 03 Jul 2018 16:32:13
mflis, pretty certain Gerrard, Carragher and countless others also signed plenty of new contracts and didn't leave the next year!

Why is it that all of the players who want to leave Liverpool are men between the ages of 16-45?!

26 Jun 2018 12:11:11
Apparently Ings is looking for a move away from Liverpool, any truth to this? I think it was Ed1 who called this a few weeks ago and now it's coming true (sorry if it wasn't you Ed, might've been somebody else) .

If this is true good luck to him, I don't blame him if he does want to leave, he's hardly going to get game time here. I reckon he'll do really well elsewhere should he remain injury free.

{Ed001's Note - he wants regular football.}

1.) 26 Jun 2018 12:42:14
I imagine there will be a big interest in him.

Champions league final probably made his mind up for him plus the fact he's not looking at much starting time next year.

Hope to see him banging them in for someone next season.

What would liverpool be looking for him 15-20 million?

If fulham got interested i wouldn't mind him being use as makeweight for a potential sessegnon deal.

2.) 26 Jun 2018 13:43:51
Thing ings has got a lot of quality and will flourish in another side with regular starts.
Good luck to him.

3.) 26 Jun 2018 14:11:15
Clearly has lots of heart but is not technically gifted, feel sorry for him but we need to stop buying players who have a good game or two against us, we did much the same to Aspas only he was one that got away in the end, Inge should go back to Burnley.

4.) 26 Jun 2018 14:20:38
It’s a shame that in three seasons we never got to see what he could do. Hope it works out for him.

5.) 26 Jun 2018 17:44:30
I know he wants to go but it would b a huge mistake by us. Played quite well at the back end of the season. English striker 26yo who will go for about 15million. I’d rather him than Origi.

6.) 27 Jun 2018 08:36:43
Fowlersgod I strongly disagree with all your points. A 'huge mistake' He had stinkers at the back end of the season, which games are you referring to? Poor against Everton and especially vs Stoke, never did anything much off the bench except look off the pace and scored 1 goal agiants West Brom, a nice memory for the lad but that was it. a midtable 26yo striker who has barely played any football in 3 years? I'd snap up 15mil. I hope Origi signs a new contract to retain his value and takes Ings place in the squad, then scores some goals and helps us win some silverware. That makes more sense to me. Anyway, Origi wants to stay and give it a shot while Ings wants to leave, so it's a pointless discussion really. For me though Firmino/ Origi/ Solanke/ Brewster is plenty of depth of strikers.

09 May 2018 17:38:25
Is the any truth to us been interested in signing Diogo Leite please Eds?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

1.) 09 May 2018 18:04:22
No worries Ed, cheers mate.

{Ed001's Note - sorry I can't help mate.}

2.) 09 May 2018 20:10:12
No it's ok Ed mate, I don't expect you to know everything lol :) you are only human, I think!

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.... I think.}

3.) 09 May 2018 21:00:04
With the knowledge you have Ed, it makes me wonder if you are human at times lol hope you had a good day mate!

{Ed001's Note - there are plenty of days I barely feel human...

It is good so far, but still a few minutes for Chelsea and Spurs to ruin it. How about you?}

4.) 09 May 2018 21:05:35
I know mate, fingers crossed Huddersfield continue with this result and beat them. Yeah not a bad day cheers mate, like you though, will be better if Huddersfield and Newcastle get the results we hope for. - was just about to click the reply button and saw Chelsea score, damn!

{Ed001's Note - damn was slightly different from the word I used, especially as Spurs then went and scored too!}

5.) 09 May 2018 21:15:22
I know mate bloody typical, past 5 mins it goes down the shoot. I mean a positive is if it stops like this we can at least draw or win the next game to guarantee top 4 (We'll win, I'm going to rip them a new one) . I want that 3rd spot though, we deserve it, hope Newcastle can step it up, get Spurs dealt with and Huddersfield snatch a late goal, fingers crossed!

{Ed001's Note - at least it might make the final day interesting.}

6.) 09 May 2018 22:51:38
I'd rather a boring last day ed!

7.) 10 May 2018 01:42:52
Nah it's the Liverpool way Firmane, remember Istanbul? it's all fun and games mate.

8.) 10 May 2018 04:37:58
I always have reservations when linked to young centre backs who seemingly are destined for good careers. Obviously Coates and Wilson spring to mind who we have signed recently and turned out crap and that’s not being harsh.
I remember listening to talksport one transfer deadline day and I think it was Damien Camolli and a few others saying that scouting a young centre back is extremely hard. Saying that the main trait for a centre back is the reading of the game which he will pick up as he plays more first team football and you have no idea how well they will pick it up and no matter the physical and technical advantages they had in youth football it won’t make up for this if they don’t read the game well.

{Ed001's Note - it is not that it is difficult to scout, it is that the likes of Comolli haven't a clue about the game and they do their scouting via numbers on a screen and you can't judge a defender on stats. That is why teams like Brentford, despite their owner being obsessed with stats, do not rely on stats when they sign defenders, though they will for the rest of the players.

Coates and Wilson were slower than a tortoise with cramp, they were never going to make it in the Premier League and any half decent scout should have spotted that.}

9.) 10 May 2018 07:57:00
That bicycle kick by Coates though Ed 😅.

{Ed001's Note - well remembered.}

10.) 10 May 2018 08:34:20
Ed001, what is your problem with Tortoises? Have they all got cramp or temazepan addictions in your little world?

Are you another one of these bitter turtles who can't accept the fact that we have legs and you don't?

We Tortoises are a proud species!

{Ed001's Note - it's the shell. Makes it so difficult to get the meat out.}

11.) 10 May 2018 08:57:31
You are a nasty man Ed001. Always baiting us posters 😉.

{Ed001's Note - as if I would do something like that!}

12.) 10 May 2018 13:19:58
“It’s the shell, makes it so difficult to get them the meat out”

Is this why female tortoises are always so grumpy and frustrated?! 😂.

13.) 10 May 2018 13:57:46
Ed001 is a serial bater😁.

{Ed001's Note - it is when it is your cereal that has been bated over that you have to worry. No mate that milk is not off, just a bit lumpy *innocent look*

14.) 10 May 2018 14:09:43
I would've put him in the "master" category myself, Barry ;-)

{Ed001's Note - why thank you Zed. I do pride myself on being a master of the art of bating.}

15.) 10 May 2018 14:22:23
You ever worked on a ship, Ed001? As a "Seaman" or even a "Cabin Boy"?

{Ed001's Note - funnily enough no. Ed0333 did 'work' his passage to the States on a ship though.}

05 Apr 2018 22:07:25
I just read the following, is there any truth to this?

'In January, when Liverpool pushed to bring forward Naby Keïta’s move to Anfield, RB Leipzig officials responded with a request of their own. They suggested that a deal involving Trent Alexander-Arnold would be one solution to smoothing Keïta’s early arrival.

Liverpool dismissed the idea, and with it their hopes of landing Naby Keita ahead of schedule. Yet Leipzig’s interest, coupled with Liverpool’s intransigence, speaks volumes for a player who is destined to go places regardless. '

Interesting if so, cheeky buggers hands off!

{Ed002's Note - No. Liverpool have already paid a significant premium over the asking price and were told it would take more - that was the end of it.}

1.) 05 Apr 2018 22:13:54
Cheers Ed2, more click bait rubbish I guess, I got pulled in.

2.) 06 Apr 2018 07:34:01
LFC would be wise to invest in Timo wernier he is going to be some player goal scorer chases back just like bobby and him and Naby have very good understanding it would really be a no brainier to put in a bid for the lad.

3.) 06 Apr 2018 10:55:46
No doubting his quality but bringing in Werner sends the wrong kind of signal to Firmino, Ings, Solanke and even Origi (who's coming back this summer) . I'd much rather focus on a really good AM.

4.) 06 Apr 2018 14:58:25
Unfortunately ings origi need to be moved on for their careers sake. Solanke should get minutes in games already won plus cup games.
If the two I mentioned are to leave weiner would be a great addition to our team. Allows firmimo to have a rest.

5.) 08 Apr 2018 15:12:26
I see Origi leaving the summer. Ings is a little more up in the air. Don't think Solanke is anywhere near his finished product and I don't want to lose him. I think he has the ability to be a star in the league but maybe needs a good run of games to get his confidence up -- ie. a loan move. Of course, that leaves us a bit short on numbers going into the the next season but I see investment coming and we may bring in another attacking player. Lallana has had a torrid time with injuries this year but probably won't go anywwere. Milner, how many times does the lad have to prove himself to be valued by his club? Successful everywhere and every position he goes. Hope he stays as long as he's got the legs. Can probably will move on and will be missed if Keita takes a while to adjust. That said, I'm very excited about Naby playing behind and as a part of that forward line and don't see us needing much more to challenge for every prize.

I just counted every goal from this years world cup so far and I think it's 146 unless I lost count. How many of you took part in the competition benny set up predicting how many goals would be scored this WC? top 4 get to go to the next charity match, I'm sure a lot of you went in for it. I predicted 167 on the 20th June, so close! fingers crossed, but also good luck to everybody else who took part.

1.) 05 Jul 2018 10:19:15
Wow Salah, 146 goals in 56 games works out at 2.6 goals a game. 8 games left to go at 2.6 goals a game is 20.8 goals to go, added to 146 = 166.8 goals. Not a bad guess my man!

2.) 05 Jul 2018 10:21:52
I put in 159. Im not fancying my chances.

3.) 05 Jul 2018 10:31:54
I'm nearly sure I said 143.

4.) 05 Jul 2018 12:42:17
Good shout salah. Well done mate. Can't remember what I said. It was on the low side. 140 maybe.

23 Jun 2018 09:14:11
Have a speedy recovery Jose Enrique. YNWA.

1.) 23 Jun 2018 09:26:21
Great to hear he’s in recovery. Shocking altogether.

20 Jun 2018 21:01:03
Really happy to see Jon Flanagan is moving to Rangers, good riddance!

1.) 20 Jun 2018 22:11:55
He'd already been released.

2.) 20 Jun 2018 22:38:35
Totally forgot about that Firmane lol.

3.) 21 Jun 2018 08:16:51
What punishment did he receive for being a downright thug and beating up a woman?

4.) 21 Jun 2018 08:37:13
Exactly Mcgoveb, when the news first came out I thought he'd of been kicked out of the club immediately, why he wasn't is beyond me. He should never play a professional game of football again, people like him are just utter scum. Pathetic bully, he doesn't deserve a career in football.

{Ed001's Note - I am surprised at you Salah, he was suffering with depression and drinking to drown it. The lad was a disgrace, but he needs help. If people like him got help they might not end up abusing others.}

5.) 21 Jun 2018 08:55:06
To be honest Ed, I had absolutely no idea about that mate. Now I feel bad for saying the above! I mean it still doesn't make it right what he did no matter what but when it comes down to him having depression it's a different matter because if he'd of received the right help maybe that wouldn't of happened. Thanks for telling me mate.

{Ed001's Note - it is incredibly common amongst injured footballers mate. They are not well looked after.}

6.) 21 Jun 2018 09:00:27
Easiest thing to do is not get involved in these discussions lads. Leave it to the club and the courts, because you just end up with egg on your face when you don't know the full facts!

7.) 21 Jun 2018 09:15:06
Thanks for the info Ed mate and apologies for jumping the gun on something I obviously knew little about.

True MK.

{Ed001's Note - it's ok, I can understand, what he did was vile.}

8.) 21 Jun 2018 09:40:38
Your heart was in the right place, Salah. What he did was very low, regardless of the reasons. I just prefer to leave others for the roles of judge, jury and executioner. Hopefully everyone involved in the terrible situation gets what they need and deserve; be that help, punishment or both 👍.

9.) 21 Jun 2018 10:14:18
Well moving to Rangers is punishment in a football sense.
Really hope he gets his head and his life in order. Working with people and coaches that know him is probably a good thing.

10.) 21 Jun 2018 10:59:41
There are many thousands of people who suffer or have suffered depression and they don't beat the sh*t out of women, an illness I know oh so well as do others here I'm sure.
Sorry but no excuses.

11.) 21 Jun 2018 12:00:58
It’s funny how everyone bashes Flanagan for being down and getting out of control with alcohol and hitting a woman (which isn’t exceptable) when he’s not in the team. Firmino gets done for drink driving which is just as bad in my view because he could of killed someone and because he’s one of our best players people ignore the fact he’s just as bad.

12.) 21 Jun 2018 12:16:15
I really don't get the deal with some of the people on here with this whole Flanagan thing. Who are you to say how someone should or shouldn't react to depression? are you the behavioural oracle or something? depression isn't something that is confined purely to people that have no money and no prospects, it can affect the wealthiest, most privileged people in just the same way, sometimes worse. so its really hard to understand what goes through someones head unless you're actually the one suffering or the closest to them.

What he did was absolutely abhorrent at face value but to write someone off for the rest of their life and never forgive them is just as disgusting in my opinion. Its such a primitive view. Very few people are beyond redemption.

I'm not a christian but i 100% believe that if someone truly tries to better themselves and right the mistakes they've made. and do right by the person they hurt then they deserve at least some form of forgiveness and a second chance.

16 Jun 2018 17:22:35
Credit to Benny, Ed1, Ed2, the players and everybody else involved. The amount of effort that went into the charity match was incredible. You all did a great thing today and I applaud you all!

I watched about 80 minutes of the game in total and enjoyed every minute of it.

Well played all, get home safe :) .

1.) 16 Jun 2018 17:39:29
It was cracking. MK Scouser at fault for ALL the goals. Well done everyone

Crooky.

2.) 16 Jun 2018 17:51:26
Spot on well said guys. I can’t believe my was at fault for all the goals though. Even Benny said it himself in the commentary.

3.) 16 Jun 2018 18:06:46
Couldn't believe mk today. On a positive note the kids on commentary made my day.

4.) 16 Jun 2018 19:05:29
So are you saying that MKS really just talks a good game?

5.) 16 Jun 2018 19:28:50
Told you lads I wasn't fit 😂 anybody see me hobbling for the last 10? 😂.

{Ed001's Note - you looked to be hobbling before you got on the pitch!}

6.) 16 Jun 2018 19:50:02
He was decent on the ball and his distribution was very good. HE WAS AT FAULT FOR ALL THE GOALS. it’s just a shame Harry Kane claimed them all. He finished top scorer of the tournament so he’ll have at least one piece of silverware to keep now.

7.) 16 Jun 2018 20:10:59
Well done mk. Hats off to you. Even if you had a bit of a mare. Really mate, only the goalkeeper is allowed to pick up the ball and run with it- you might remember that for the next match. Ah well, we all make mistakes. At least you are on a forgiving site. Seriously though- have a well deserved beer and if you are still out with the lads, send all our best. It was a brilliant spectacle altogether.

{Ed001's Note - he will never be forgiven!! At least not until tomorrow when I have slept and forgotten about it all.}

8.) 16 Jun 2018 20:19:11
haha reminds me all too much of the Karius saga this does, god help you MK now mate, everybody will be saying how you should never be putting on the Ed1FC shirt on again!

Lol well done mate you did well! hope you had a great day and enjoyed it, get home safe.

{Ed001's Note - he needs to start training now for next year's game! He needs to be at peak fitness.}

9.) 16 Jun 2018 20:28:56
Just out of interest, how is a striker at fault for all the goals? 😂

Don't worry Ed, I'll be much fitter next year. I won't get cramp until the 60th minute next time 😉.

{Ed001's Note - that will be 60 minutes longer than this year then!}

10.) 16 Jun 2018 20:40:07
I can't believe at 24 I had the least hair out of everyone. I need regrowth treatment!

{Ed001's Note - your lack of hair is the least of your problems mate...}

11.) 16 Jun 2018 20:53:33
Ed001, you really are giving me the Luke Shaw treatment.

Please consider this a written transfer request. I want to go and play for Ed025's team in blue.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair you are on about a par fitness wise with Luke Shaw.}

12.) 16 Jun 2018 20:59:04
I honestly don’t know mk but somehow you found a way.

13.) 16 Jun 2018 21:13:11
Aoe, you know I was the bald 5ft striker/ left winger right? 😂

Ed001, you are not wrong there. I'm planning on getting back into some kind of sport soon. The 2 years drinking Budweiser and eating KFC have done me no favours!

{Ed001's Note - at least you haven't spent the last few years living on my cooking. Though it would help you keep your weight down...}

14.) 16 Jun 2018 21:46:15
You can't be that bad Ed. You're alive 😂.

{Ed001's Note - that's because I don't eat my cooking.}

15.) 16 Jun 2018 22:08:54
With the smashing beard. Don’t worry, I was watching mate 😉 and I’m going to beat this it was all your fault joke for as long as I can.

16.) 16 Jun 2018 22:37:02
Awh, you think my beard is cracking 😊 means a lot seeing as it is the only hair i have left! You can beat the joke mate. I give you permission.

He had a great season with Roma EpicPotato, you can't judge him on two games against possibly the best attack in Europe and a few WC performances. The lad is top notch mate. What would you say to somebody who only watched De Gea in the world cup and said 'what's the obsession with De Gea? ' I'm sure you might be saying how he's the best GK in the world and you can't just judge him on his performances at the WC.

Even if we don't get Alisson or Fekir VakPa, we'll still do them. Their team need time to gel and even then not much will change for them, they haven't really bought top quality have they I mean they went and bought Wilshere! fingers crossed he plays when we play them.
