Anything concrete is these Manu Kone rumours?
Or just the lazy journalists digging up past interest.

It's actually Mane "Cone" in this Heatwave!

Posters below calling for another Shaqiri to replace Mo, obviously in jest of course? Though when LFC beat Barcelona 4-0, Shaqiri was in the starting eleven, Mo was sitting in the stands with his infamous tee shirt "Never Give Up"!

Rumours is Diomande is out with rappers at concerts with former PSG players and DJ Khalid. Not sure he is coming out way lads. It's interesting PSG seem to be signing Ferran Torres and the lad from Monaco though. Not sure where Diomande will play!

4

12 Jul 2026 13:47:36
"Out with rappers and DJ Khalid."

Yeah, PSG can have him. πŸ˜‚

21

12 Jul 2026 13:48:42
I mean his agency is Jay Z's RocNation. If I was 19 and signed up with that agency, I would probably be hanging out with rappers too, as would you.

12

12 Jul 2026 13:57:18
Hopefully he's not hanging out with Diddy!

17

12 Jul 2026 14:00:38
PSG do not want Diomande, they have never wanted Diomande since they knew the price. PSG do not overpay for players as they used to. He was originally their number one target. No more. PSG will sign Maghnes Akliouche. Once that happens, there is no more conversation regarding any PSG link. It will be dead. Diomande would have struggled for playing time prior to the signing of Akliouche.

It would be non-existent after that signing.

That leaves Liverpool. If the deal can be done, he'll be a Liverpool player. That much I know.

As I've said since the beginning of this saga, I still believe, 100%, he will be a Liverpool player.

The Notorious Yan.

7

12 Jul 2026 14:17:44
You don't speak for me, Pelican.

9

12 Jul 2026 15:43:43
Fly, I wouldn't be. I can't stand rap or the culture. The songs are so misogynistic, and attitude I cannot relate to. Then I am a curmedgeon and, though I am in my 30s, I love Bob Dylan and the whole 60/70s music.

7

12 Jul 2026 16:10:18
I'm surrounded by Rappers, Twix, Blue Ribband, Rocky, and I've just finished a family sized bag of Minstrels, my favourite Rapper is Crunchie, although I'm also partial a Drifter.

7

12 Jul 2026 16:13:17
I've got 99 problems and Diomonde is certainly one of them!!

5

12 Jul 2026 16:31:04
Iron Man, where do you get the Drifter from? They were discontinued in 2018. I used to love them. Do you catch my drift?

1

12 Jul 2026 16:12:08
Rap in crap

0

12 Jul 2026 16:52:30
You are all just jealous you didn't get invited to a diddy parry.

0

12 Jul 2026 17:47:30
Was Ken Dodd there, viaggression?

0

12 Jul 2026 18:00:43
This is an epic thread. Kudos everyone. 🀣 Imagine maligning a 19-year-old black kid for hanging out with artists from his culture, especially as his management company was founded to represent black artists. Who's he supposed to hang out with, Rod Stewart and Cathy Boyle? This isn't the 1970s anymore, Mann of Todd. Black players can hang out with who they desire, and clubs will still pay big transfer fees for them. Imagine not signing Mbappe or Olise because they went to a Gucci man concert.

Apparently we're very interested in Zabaryni with club looking at a loan with an option to buy around €40-45m. Player's keen but PSG hoping for closer to €60-65m and the option to be an obligation.

Personally, I'd be really happy with that and a loan with an option/obligation gives us much more financial wriggle room for other areas of the pitch. Hope this is one we can pull off.

33

11 Jul 2026 20:33:38
Good defender that lad.

12

11 Jul 2026 20:46:16
60m euros? Deal. βœ…

7

11 Jul 2026 21:08:39
This and Joao Gomes sounds good - fingers crossed.

16

11 Jul 2026 22:06:11
Agreed Who, Zabarnyi for EUR60m after a season on loan plus Joao Gomes for EUR50m is much better than Diomande for EUR110m in my opinion.
Two 'Premier League proven' young players in the spine of the team.

33

11 Jul 2026 22:09:25
Yes, excellent defender him. Would be very happy if this comes to fruition.

4

11 Jul 2026 22:27:05
Ron, I don’t get comparing Zabarnyi and Joao Gomes to Diomande's price. If our team under Klopp had prices next to them, Mane, Salah and Bobbie are the most valuable at their peak, because attacking players always are.
Virgil was a freak, but even his value was not at Salah's value, even if he was the better player.

5

11 Jul 2026 22:55:40
Be happy with Zabarnyi, but I'm not sold on Homes, to be honest. Good player, no doubt, but does he plug the gap in our midfield? I'm not sure.

0

11 Jul 2026 23:22:06
Agreed, Ron 100% - would be great if we could also find someone for right side attack at the same price and experience - completely understand your meaning about the Diamonde money. πŸ‘πŸ»

I share many's opinions that Diamonde is not worth the money quoted - World Cup he didn't look like a big money player.

The Zabarnyi deal above and Gomes deals sound much more like it and covers positions we need depth in.

7

12 Jul 2026 00:24:42
Agreed, I am much more comfortable going for these two guys over Diomande with one season of actual numbers in football.
There has got to be other wingers out there we can move for that would fit us, that don't cost 100 million plus.

5

12 Jul 2026 00:41:43
With you, Snoots.

I'd even take Szobs as RW with Elliott and Frimpong as backup, reinforce midfield and RB. (I'm no expert and many would disagree with me on this - but am throwing another hypothetical out there with shoulders shrugging.)

Zabarnyi and Gomes are a good start and we get a lot more bang for our buck than the fee for Diamonde.

8

12 Jul 2026 01:06:07
I would absolutely love that guy for his age, that is a bargain and he's worked with Iraola, making the deal so much better.

4

12 Jul 2026 01:48:19
Hopefully, we can get Zaire-Emery with him.

3

12 Jul 2026 01:01:20
Garbage. We require a top level RW without doubt to replace Salah. Anybody who thinks that any of our incumbents can fill that void is in a delusional state. The club has money. Spend it on the best we can buy. If we don't we'll not be challengers.

8

12 Jul 2026 04:59:20
Time to get Shaqiri back.

4

12 Jul 2026 06:25:00
Gomes is exactly what we need. He is a pit-bull who wins possession regularly.
He will tear it up.

6

12 Jul 2026 08:34:09
Both Gomes and Zabarnyi would be excellent additions. We need a massive influx of pace to the rw, though. The ability to stretch defences and players who can carry the ball at pace is a must.

7

12 Jul 2026 10:25:37
Zabarnyi would be great to help jacket fit in, would be a great move, and a possible new partnership. Sacre Bleu.

0

12 Jul 2026 10:29:38
Correct, Keviniho. We need both a top quality RW and RB. We don't have either at the club currently. Zabyarni and Gomes are just the start of what is needed. If either come to us, of course. I don't have any opinion on Gomes tbh.

I never paid much attention to him whilst at Wolves. Zabyarni, however, was impressive whilst at Bournemouth, I always thought. I believe that the club will get the window right this time around, especially with Gordon's oversight.

2

12 Jul 2026 11:09:30
Zabyarni and Gomes would be a great start, then we need a top player to replace Salah. Who? Not sure, Olise would be the top choice but I doubt if that happens. Maybe if we play 4231, Sobs on the right of 3 solves the problem.

1

12 Jul 2026 11:14:41
I have no idea whether rumours are accurate or not, but I will say this.

It would be a top signing. He's still young and... he's really good at winning aerial duels and always getting first contact.
Tall and strong.

Definitely worth signing, so as I said, I hope it's not just talk and it's actual.

0

12 Jul 2026 11:22:51
Postklopp, while I appreciate your point, I don't think our problem last year was winning aerial duels and getting first contact. Virgil and Ibou last year led the league in that respect. It was losing the second balls that was our big problem after Virgil and Ibou tried to head the ball away from danger up the field.

Having center halves that are incredibly strong in the air is a Liverpool prerequisite, though. That's true.

1

12 Jul 2026 13:36:17
PB, this is where Lens' Mamadou Sangare is at his best. One of his superpowers is winning loose balls after headers and passing to a teammate.

2

12 Jul 2026 17:27:48
"Jars Out" if we get Zabarnyi had a good partnership with Kerkez in the back four at the Cherries, reasonable fee, possibly Bournemouth receive add on's for his next transfer? Reminds me of Jack Charlton in his no nonsense manner of clearing the decks. Shankly wanted Charlton (WC winner) before Ron Yeats.

If we run into PSG in the future he will have prior/useful knowledge of tactics, player movements etc.

Gomes will improve to other levels with better players around him, and a far better Coach/Manager pointing him in the right direction.

Can't understand Diamonde. He will not be an automatic choice every game. Barcola, Doue, Dembele. If Barcola goes he will be replaced by another top talent. Dembele is only just 29, 30 in May 2027, will probably go on to Mo's age 34 before he is not fit for purpose. He will probably only play against all the lesser teams in French Ligue 1, to rest the above for bigger games in UCL. He needs games at his age, as Nyoni/Rio/Elliot can point out to him?

0

11 Jul 2026 17:14:30
Joao Gomes from Wolves linked today in the media suggest we have initiated contact.

16

11 Jul 2026 17:42:21
I hope we get him.

4

11 Jul 2026 17:50:09
I'd take this and run.

5

11 Jul 2026 17:58:15
How does one initiate contact? Is it like the Fake yawn at the cinema, and the "risky" arm goes over?. πŸ˜‚

34

11 Jul 2026 18:07:03
PSG signed Vitinha from Porto:

Wolves chose to let his loan deal from Porto expire. Vitinha was offered to Wolves for circa Β£20 million, went back to Porto, and PSG bought Vitinha for circa Β£34 million a year later. Sounds like something Hughes and Edwards would have enacted also?

3

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - Vitinha didn't want to join Wolves, he never wanted to be there on loan either.}

6

11 Jul 2026 18:32:52
How does buying Vitinha tie in with a multi club model, 007? That was Edward's job.

4

11 Jul 2026 18:42:43
LiverpoolFC8, bet you were smooth back in the day.

4

11 Jul 2026 19:02:28
Joao Gomes & Joe Gomez, love it!

12

11 Jul 2026 19:06:22
Fatwallet, a lot of dodgy manoeuvres were perfected during LFC8's youth, being wartime. Boer wartime.

5

11 Jul 2026 19:51:07
LFC08. I would draw the line at the "lunge".

I wonder what his star sign is. πŸ€”

4

11 Jul 2026 20:02:07
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Oh boys. Excellent. You have a lot to learn from the old Dog yet.

4

11 Jul 2026 20:03:15
Joao Gomes is just the same as Joe Gomez if you say it in an East End accent.

3

11 Jul 2026 20:14:44
The type of player we are crying out for in midfield tbh and for Β£35-40m would be a pretty decent buy. Would certainly add a bit of physicality, intensity and bite to the midfield. Bring.

4

11 Jul 2026 20:30:47
This is more like it. Joao Gomes is hardworking, underrated in his play, and a decent reader of the game, and, first and foremost, he doesn't mind sitting a bit deeper, something we lack in the squad, a naturally defensive minded player. I would be all over this as a signing, feel as if it would be a good value for money signing. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

6

11 Jul 2026 21:21:51
He should be Endo's replacement

4

12 Jul 2026 00:24:16
Strongly agree.
Need a replacement for Jones, and Macca now, once this gets done.
Gomes and Zabaryni are a decent bit of business.
Right back still concerns me though.

1

12 Jul 2026 01:03:42
Agreed, Shughes, plus a RW.

0

12 Jul 2026 02:30:12
100% Shanks, but I'm not sure who?
Starting to think Raysn is the only decent option, and even then, he has had a decent half season in the prem, but that's it.
If we did move for him, I guess it means Iraola really rates him.

2

12 Jul 2026 02:19:41
What do you make of sangare ed? Personally I think he'd be an excellent signing.

3

12 Jul 2026 06:27:06
And where he will be playing - share please. As far as i can see, one of Macca/Grav/Jones should be sold in order this lad even to be thinking for first team. Obviously Macca was garbage last season and can be the biggest candidate, but still we need verification that someone even wants the lad

0

12 Jul 2026 10:39:36
@shughes, I don't actually know about Diomande as all I've seen of him was his games during the WC. If the scouts believe he's good enough for us, then I believe we should sign him. It certainly seems as if we're doing our utmost to do so.

Rayan looked good to me since he arrived at Bournemouth and I would definitely welcome his arrival if he was a possibility. Regardless of either of those, we need a proper RB to support them on the RHS. Whomever that may be.

0

12 Jul 2026 10:43:35
Class Zeddicus, thought his exploits would be on the Bayeux Tapestry.

1

12 Jul 2026 11:09:22
Be interesting to hear what the ITKs think about this. Think it would be a quality addition. Reasonable price being mooted as well.

0

12 Jul 2026 12:42:31
That wasn't an arrow that Harold copped, Fatwallet, it was actually LFC8 - to took a run up on a fair maiden, tripped, and his todger caused a mortal injury to our King.

Now that's something to brag about!

2

11 Jul 2026 10:30:23.
Italian media reporting that Inter have missed out on Curtis Jones with the player having reached an agreement to move to Nottingham Forest.

6

11 Jul 2026 11:21:42
We after some of that sweet Elliot Anderson money?

8

11 Jul 2026 11:30:54
I feel that's a bad move for him personally.

22

11 Jul 2026 11:35:35
Has he agreed to move there now?

1

11 Jul 2026 11:39:33
Losing another good player when we need squad depth. What a genius move by the club. I wonder what type of strategy they are pursuing?

23

11 Jul 2026 11:52:06
Well we know Iraola likes his players to move the ball on quickly and progressively. Jones has been the complete opposite of that for a few seasons now. So it's not a total surprise.

However, I do like Jones, and do hope he stays. He absolutely has it in him to be a pretty decent player for us, when he does move the ball on quickly he's very good at it.

24

11 Jul 2026 11:55:10
Kit. How is he a good player? He constantly loses the ball, slows the game right down with his negative side and back passes. πŸ€”

13

11 Jul 2026 11:56:07
Good player. Not LFC quality tho.
Good luck to the lad.

8

11 Jul 2026 11:59:34
Grav, come on, he's not progressive, but he keeps the ball well.

11

11 Jul 2026 12:00:47
I like Jones and hope he stays. He may not be greased lightning, but he does have a good quick-thinking football brain, great technique, and I am sure Iraola could use him. I really can't see him being that keen on going to Forest. Even if he gets more playing time, he could find himself in the Championship next year.

15

11 Jul 2026 12:24:22
He started to have a good little period a while back where he was moving the ball quicker and was actually driving us forward at times, and he looked good doing it, but he then lost form and reverted back to spinning around and playing the ball back and sideways, which is such a shame because he does have talent and really good technical ability actually.

I like Jones and I had hoped he could forge a decent career at his boyhood club, however, I do feel now is the time for us to part ways and it would be in the best interests of both parties. I wish him nothing but the best of luck and hope he enjoys success and finds fulfilment elsewhere.

6

11 Jul 2026 12:38:30
I do find him very frustrating at times, especially with his delayed ball retention. Jones is a capable footballer and could improve under Iraola. I do hate to see scousers moving on. I'd replace him with Archie Gray.

9

11 Jul 2026 13:00:04
Jones has quality, but for whatever reason, he seems to play within himself a lot of the time.
Always seems to take 1-2 touches too many, and invariably loses the ball.

6

11 Jul 2026 13:00:36
"Good quick-thinking football brain" are not words I'd associate with Jones. If he did have a good quick-thinking football brain, he'd be an unquestionable starter. It's because he lacks speed of thought that he's not.

15

11 Jul 2026 13:34:38
Jones is our best passer with 91% pass accuracy.
And he keeps the ball better than most of our midfield.
I feel losing that option is very shortsighted.
But if he wants to be a guaranteed starter, he either needs to impress Iraola quickly, or move.

12

11 Jul 2026 13:38:26
It's easy, manager, just had to tell him 2 touch football. Don't forget, his Scouse pride didn't see anyone else run over in the derby and stop that blurt celebrating like he'd won the World Cup in front of our fans. Everyone else standing there and taking it, and letting him bait our fans.

13

11 Jul 2026 13:40:20
@ADShimmih, He would have a pass rate of 91% because all his passes are 10 yards across the back from left to right and vice versa.

8

11 Jul 2026 14:05:43
Gomes being linked as a replacement, his move to Athletico has broken down apparently. Good luck to Curtis, decent player and character.

1

11 Jul 2026 14:07:55
I do like Jones because he's obviously one of us, but there is better out there, it's just a case of finding them.

2

11 Jul 2026 14:09:20
I'm not too fussed about any particular player staying/leaving.

But I'd be getting players in the door, before letting any more leave. We've already lost too many players without replacements.

1

11 Jul 2026 15:12:52
I'd be disappointed if he leaves. A good squad option and a local boy.

If he wants to leave for first team footy though, fair enough and good luck to him.

4

11 Jul 2026 15:28:44
News to me this, last thing I know was that he wasn't interested in the move there.

9

11 Jul 2026 15:34:42
CJ (aged 25) has mediocre LFC statistics:

Total LFC Apps 153, 11 goals, 10 assists. (circa goal or assist every 7 games).

Last season under Slot was abysmal: 34 PL Apps (16 as sub), 1 goal, 2 assists.

0

11 Jul 2026 15:52:16
007, everyone bar Szob was abysmal last season, to be fair to CJ.

3

11 Jul 2026 16:44:09
Mickey Jones is nearly 26, and no manager has found his best position or to get him to move it quicker.

1

11 Jul 2026 17:06:57
Up to him. The ability is there, if he can stay fit and apply himself. I'd give him the chance, Elliot too. He should have been starting more regularly ahead of Macca last season, no doubt.

2

11 Jul 2026 17:18:27
Personally I think living in Milan would be a bit nicer than Nottingham, but alas!

4

11 Jul 2026 17:21:06
That 91% accuracy thing is very misleading, so by that measure is he a better passer than Kevin DeBruyne? And that is frankly ridiculous and untrue.

I just wish he'd shown the kind of passion, aggression and hustle on the pitch as he did at the end of the derby, but he never has.

If he'd been the one getting stuck in and setting the tone rather than strolling around the pitch like Billy big b******* then I'd be all for him staying.

.

4

11 Jul 2026 17:53:05
Jones' social media reaction to the Forrest suggestion would suggest otherwise.

6

11 Jul 2026 20:06:25
Was thinking the same, I honestly don't know what's true and what's not anymore though.

1

11 Jul 2026 20:09:56
To be honest with you, I don't think CJ is great, but I would keep him ahead of MacAllisiter. Who, in my opinion, is just done now with LFC. Think we should part ways.

Endo will be leaving too, so I've no idea what or who is going to be in midfield next season considering we aren't linked with anyone at all and our DOF's appear to be leaving too.

1

12 Jul 2026 02:22:08
Passing accuracy is a misleading name. It's actually a measure of ball retention and passing choices, not the quality of a player's passing range.

0

12 Jul 2026 05:01:54
Get rid of Macca, make some money, put Jones as starter to partner Sabo and move on to other targets.

0

12 Jul 2026 10:42:51
Jones as a starter??? Wake up.

0

12 Jul 2026 10:44:45
Agree, inbeta... I'd rather sell Macca instead of Jones.

In saying that, I get the feeling Jones has reached a point in his career where he wants to start every week and he can probably see he won't be able to at LFC.

Maybe the move away comes from him... I'm almost certain the club would rather he stayed as a squad member, but that might not be enough for him.

0

12 Jul 2026 11:37:52
If Curtis wants to start every week he isn't going to do that with us, any other top six team, and arguably even the likes of Inter who were in for him. I can't see which team he'd be holding out for, as Forest is about as good as it's likely to get.

Someone bigger may take him but he'd end up back on the bench. Better off staying with us and moderating his expectations of both money and game time.

10 Jul 2026 19:07:42
Hello all,

Following up on my post yesterday. It seems I posted in haste. Numerous follow ups and contacts have played down any concrete discussions with Bayern Munich.

However, I did learn for a fact that Liverpool have maintained a healthy channel of communication with Olise and his reps - a channel that shall remain open in the hopes of acquiring him next summer.

I will always be the first to inform if a deal or info I was given is wrong.

51

10 Jul 2026 20:06:04
Great, just what we need this season is a line of communication.

23

10 Jul 2026 20:42:59
Offer Gakpo, Greggs Β£10 gift card and some Rola Cola.

23

10 Jul 2026 21:00:05
I raise you, I'm willing to go a Bombay Bad Boy pot noodle, a Ginsters pasty and pack of Blue Ribbands.

10

10 Jul 2026 21:24:14
Much appreciated VG.

7

10 Jul 2026 21:29:23
If they want him for the RW next season, that would mean they're not aiming for a proper RW replacement this season, unless he's going to play somewhere else?

6

10 Jul 2026 21:58:01
If Minteh is Β£80m, then Olise's worth Β£300m, and paying anything under that is a bargain. I say forget Diomydaddysupports (insertclubhere) and get Olise in at all cost.

12

10 Jul 2026 23:25:42
I really don't want us to sign Olise. The financial outlay for both fee and wages would be huge. I also do not think he is as good as others say, and a bit of a luxury player. AI likes pressing, Olise does not press. He clearly is talented and doing wonderful at Bayern, but it is a hard no for me.

16

10 Jul 2026 23:35:11
You also said if you were wrong you would hold your hands up... reach Victor, reach.

6

11 Jul 2026 00:57:20
NoMoreBoom, which is what... I'm doing? I'm confused LOL.

18

11 Jul 2026 07:10:28
Thanks for the info, VG.
Always appreciated.

5

11 Jul 2026 08:05:21
Thanks Victor, keep your updates coming, brother.

1

11 Jul 2026 09:16:18
Makes sense to me, use what we've got for a season, let's see what Andoni can do with our current crop, then look at a hopefully less inflated market.

I like Elliott on the right wing.

4

11 Jul 2026 10:22:14
Thanks VG.

I've loved seeing Olise's rise the last season or two. And would love to see him in red.

Just can't see him being at Liverpool. Think he's the kind of player who'd be attracted big the Londons, Madrids of this world.

2

11 Jul 2026 11:33:01
Is Minteh been looked at, Victor?

0

11 Jul 2026 11:50:50
Olise is not coming to Liverpool this year or next. He's got Madrid or PSG written all over him after years at Bayern.

2

11 Jul 2026 13:14:39
Well Ron, if it stays as you wish, we'll be back in a battle for the top 5. We need additional quality players, without any doubt, if we have any hope of challenging for the big trophies. And we should always be challenging for those. Elliott on the right wing? Rio on the left wing too, I suppose? Good luck with that.

2

11 Jul 2026 14:09:26
Minteh looks like it could be happening, links with him seem to be increasing. Olise stuff is hopefully pie in the sky, a very good player, but he seems to drift inside a lot and could occupy space that Wirtz should or would. If Wirtz was leaving, to Chelsea perhaps, then maybe Olise would be more viable.

If we sign no-one from here, we would struggle to make the European places.

Going from Premier League champions to challenging Bournemouth, Brentford and Brighton for a place in Europe in the space of two years.

To anyone that says that we should wait for a less inflated market - I have been waiting 20 years for the housing market crash.

2

11 Jul 2026 16:03:24
Same narrative as the summer of 2024 then.

0

11 Jul 2026 16:28:02
Ron, that is disingenuous of you.

The squad that Klopp left behind was much bigger and balanced. Yes it was short a DM (same story since Fab retired) and CB cover, but otherwise it was stacked.

Right now, we are short 5 or 6 senior players without selling anyone.

Iraola could be Jesus. He cannot challenge for CL places, never mind titles, with this current squad.

2

11 Jul 2026 16:32:14
*Fab was sold, not retired. Although going to Saudi is effectively retirement lol.

1

10 Jul 2026 18:26:40
Reports online that we are willing to sign Bouadi from Lille with him staying there on loan for one year before he comes to us.

5

10 Jul 2026 18:49:14
I hate those deals.

You would want to be paying a discount to let that happen, but Liverpool seem to pay a premium and still loan them back.

I don't mind him as an option, but if we have to loan him back, I'm moving on.

26

10 Jul 2026 18:57:51
Couldn't agree more, Davey. They never seem to work for us anyway.

13

10 Jul 2026 19:54:29
Seems like the Diomande playbook again. These deals should be avoided like the plague, hopefully it's just a ruse to drive some more value out of the deal.

7

10 Jul 2026 21:25:37
Either sign a player for the now or don't. Waste of time and effort otherwise.

8

10 Jul 2026 21:53:49
I appreciate these deals haven't worked great for us in the past. But he looks like a real talent, and his value could be double next summer.

I would love for him to sign. He would be higher on my list than Wharton, I think.

5

11 Jul 2026 01:36:27
These deals are often done for two reasons - player development and maintaining good relations with the selling club.

I don't really understand the player development angle since you're delaying his development, not accelerating it. Unless the player plays in your league for a team playing similar football at a similar level, it's delaying his adaptation to your style and level.

I've had two coaches at Cruzeiro explain how it's beneficial, but I don't see it personally. Even from a psyche perspective. How many times does it actually work out with the player being better? Kane is a good example, but seems to be the exception.

1

11 Jul 2026 11:52:43
Deals like this would work really well if buying a player with the view of replacing an outgoing player, especially when they aren't available there and then.

11 Jul 2026 14:10:28
Not sure we could stomach another season of Macca unless Iraola kick starts him.

0

11 Jul 2026 15:52:36
Overkill, I was Macca's biggest critic last year. He looked a man just not at it mentally, looked like he wasn't up to the task of playing deeper and anchoring the cm position alongside Grav. And, alongside Wirtz being so weak and ineffective most games, it left our midfield paper thin and unbalanced.

Maybe Slot asked him to play further forward, but who knows.
He was brilliant the year before though, so I wouldn't be too panicky about shipping him off or keeping him.

0

12 Jul 2026 10:48:14
He was brilliant the year before? You must have been watching a different MacAllister then. He's never been brilliant, nor ever will be. He's a half arsed midfielder with zero drive, guts, or commitment. Compare his attributes and attitude with those of Jordan Henderson. See the difference now? Think before you post, I'd suggest.

10 Jul 2026 16:19:57
Now he's left, I can tell you he has been a big problem behind the scenes since last summer. Akin to a child throwing a tantrum because he wasn't getting what he wanted. He was meddling in things he shouldn't of been because he didn't know what he was doing. Gordon and Hogan were not happy with the way he was acting, as if they went against them he would go running to Big John. It caused issues with Hughes, especially when it came to the appointing of a replacement for Slot and the farce that was the Jan transfer window.

Him being still here skewed the planning for the summer also, as he was asked to help with recruitment but refused point blank to get involved in any recruitment business. He was to due to leave when Hughes does after the window shuts but that seems to have changed.

All a bit of a farce if you ask me.

Out of respect for the exec that told me this earlier in the summer, I didn't post anything about it before now. I have info from the same guy on Hughes but that will wait till he's gone. πŸ˜‚

10 Jul 2026 17:12:48
Fields, does this give Hughes a bit of a pass if all being said about Edwards, or is he still a massive part of the problem?
It does sound like Edwards was hampering Hughes last summer and beyond.

7

10 Jul 2026 17:11:45
Thanks thefields .Edwards sounds like a twat (that's polite for c**t) good riddance!

13

10 Jul 2026 17:32:49
Just out of interest, Fields, does your contact know you post on here? Just wondering if they feel it as a good way to engage with fans passively and away from mainstream media, or do they not really care/see it as significant?

2

10 Jul 2026 18:02:12
Grino, Hughes is part of the problem, but how much of that was down to Hughes meddling is another thing. I imagine he would have a bit more freedom to do what he wants now.

Todd, people like agents and reps don't give a toss, but coaching staff, execs don't like stuff being posted. So I don't tell them. πŸ˜‚

10 Jul 2026 17:26:15
Cheers Fields, great post mate. Not a single word of that surprises me one bit. He always came across as an argumentative little brown-nosing, problem-starting c**t to me. I was shocked when the club brought him back, especially after the trouble he caused with Klopp. Thank Fowler he's gone.

I hope now all those who've been defending him and making him out to be some sort of transfer guru will kop on some. Looking forward to the future without him, will be very interesting to see what the club does long term. Do you know is Gordon back on board on a sort of temporary basis or too early to say?

7

10 Jul 2026 18:23:03
Thanks as ever to the true ITK's!

2

10 Jul 2026 18:24:48
Cheers Fields, was Edward's why we didn't go for Alonso?

3

10 Jul 2026 18:27:50
I would just like for us to sign someone. I know I am being impatient, but it is because I am... impatient. Let's get it sorted, lads, and sign some players to beef up this squad a bit. I'd happily go for a few Β£30m players that will run their socks off rather than spend all summer trying to get Β£120m player signed and then realise that we have missed a load of other targets.

Fran Garcia went to some team in Spain for Β£5m euro, as far as I know. That would have been a good start, I think, but what do I know.

4

10 Jul 2026 18:31:55
Thank you.

It may be bizarre, but his leaving and the chaos at the club is really consistent with what I was told and shared here a few days ago (the extremely long message).
Not saying this to get credibility, also or riding the wave at your expense.
Because, as I said there, it was a one time only thing that I don’t think I will ever have the chance to occur again, as I am not connected in any sort of way.

But just for the sake of people who said I was making stuff up.

But I think (own opinion, nothing else) the him leaving will probably change things behind the scenes, so what I shared probably won’t be relevant any more (if some people are getting curious and went to check what I shared).

Thank you for sharing.

8

10 Jul 2026 18:39:10
What an absolute clown he is. Hughes next.
I blame those 2 idiots miles more than I blame Slot. Arne was just doing his job, as horrendous as it was. He should've been sacked by those above him

And like I said in summer. Arne must go. Edwards must go. And Hughes must go. And if they don't, the Fingers will point to FSG.

I'm so happy they still have the best intentions of LFC at heart, because I would have been 100% FSG out had they gone into another Premier League season with those 3 unscathed after that disgrace

8

10 Jul 2026 18:44:25
Fair play, BF9.

3

10 Jul 2026 18:46:20
Edwards realized he couldn't blame Klopp for the mess that happened last season and decided to dip.

5

10 Jul 2026 19:50:55
I am what I ami think, therefore I am.

1

10 Jul 2026 20:03:52
Love is chewy, 'thank Fowler he's gone.' πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

I think Edwards massively took the credit for Ian Graham and his team. He saw his arse when he took on Klopp and the club backed Jurgen. Spoilt little weasel that throws his toys out the pram when things don't go his way.

Good riddance, hopefully Hughes follows swiftly.

2

10 Jul 2026 21:20:09
May I ask, was Edwards the reason we let Alonso go to Chelsea?

1

10 Jul 2026 21:28:20
Much appreciated, The Fields.

1

10 Jul 2026 21:40:47
Won't comment on Edwards, because if I'm being honest I know duck all about what he was like at his job. I know he got credit for some alltime signings in his time at the club, again I don't know whether that's warranted or not. What I will say is that 100% of the posts above honestly know as much as I do, which is sweet duck all.

It's fashionable to slate him and Hughes, again I didn't know whether that's justified. From an uneducated fan when it comes to DOF's and technical directors, from what I've seen of Edwards he won't be without a job offer for long.

3

10 Jul 2026 22:58:01
Where's Julian Ward at in all of this?

0

11 Jul 2026 00:04:03
Florian, those who keep their ear to the ground over more than just the manager and players, will tell you that what Fields has shared today is by no means the first report of Edwards throwing his toys. For every good signing that was made, there were 2 bad ones.

Everyone forgets just how many useless players we've signed in Edwards' time.

I wouldn't call it fashionable at all. There's plenty of fans who've been slating Edwards for years, myself among them.

4

11 Jul 2026 00:11:16
Every single word of this is a lie. Complete and utter spoofing.

And shameless clowns lapping it up.

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed078's Note - and you're evidence against a regular contributor who has a history of solid info?

14

11 Jul 2026 01:09:01
Why does everyone ask whether Edwards w the reason we let Alonso go?

Thought it had been clearly suggested that Edwards wanted Alonso, but we eventually went with keeping Slot, and then got Iraola against Edward's advice.

1

11 Jul 2026 01:39:36
The obsession with Alonso is silly. I love the guy, but he was always the wrong fit. He played a better version of Slot's controlled possession football, wanted full top down control, and would have needed multiple signings to play the way he likes.

It wasn't a good fit, as much as people might want it to be.

5

11 Jul 2026 11:19:39
The reason people pose the Edwards/Alonso question is because of the potential power struggle that many suspected may play out. It's well known that Edwards is a control freak. He had final say on transfers, and it was one of his stipulations for returning to the club following his fallout with Klopp, which was all over a power struggle in the first place.

At the same time, it was believed that Alonso was not going to be too keen on leaving his career in the hands of another overly controlling suit, considering what happened in Madrid and especially given the fact that success in his next job was key to getting his career back on track.

We saw the evidence of this when he signed for Chelsea, as the fact that he was given considerable control over transfers was the main talking point of his appointment.

If Alonso wanted considerable power over transfers, that would have ground talks to a halt. Edwards knew from his experience with Klopp that giving Alonso such power could massively weaken his position down the line. Alonso, already a fan favourite, would win over everyone from the Kop to the boardroom in a very short time had he been successful. Edwards was well aware of that.

1

11 Jul 2026 14:31:23
I agree with those saying Alonso wasn't a good fit for us.
He does play a controlled way - perhaps a bit quicker than Slot - but he's not front-foot attacking.

And, looking at Chelsea so far, it looks like he's going for 3 at the back.

Which I'm still waiting to see work in the PL.

1

10 Jul 2026 15:16:54
No surprise there.

Would make perfect sense why info has been super quiet of late.

Very strange? The following is just on X from a MUFC supporter:

"RB Leipzig will be regretting why they didn't collect the Β£100 million that Liverpool offered for Yan Diamonde, while Liverpool will be thanking God for RB Leipzig rejecting their Β£100 million offer."

Can't find any serious injury issues, just the usual Diomande speculation, Yankuba Minteh, 22 in circa two weeks, 34 PL apps, 4 goals, 3 assists last season, seems to be Salah's replacement.

PL goals and assists last season are not worth the Β£80 million wanted.
