ed002 what do you expect to happen with Brewster. Do you think he has got what it takes to play at the very top. do you see him staying at Swansea next season or do you think he might get a loan move somewhere else.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Throughout his career to date it has been expected that he would have a good future - then he got injured which has been a bit of a set back. I think a loan to Swansea again woud perhaps be a good solution - but what happens with the AFCON will be in the mind of the club. Everyone seems comfortable he has what it takes.}

1.) 20 May 2020 11:06:44
Thanks Ed was not sure if the injury was a bit Career refining with it being so bad. If we do make a move for Timo could you see a loan the other way for him as part of the deal.

{Ed002's Note - It came at a bad time.}

2.) 20 May 2020 14:19:23
Same could be said of paul glatze, he looks like he also has real potential.

3.) 20 May 2020 18:04:41
I think he has a future at Liverpool, he just needs to be patient and learn to play a number of roles in the forward line.

This virus maybe a blessing in disguise for him as we may hold back on buying a new forward.

4.) 20 May 2020 21:27:57
If we buy Werner then that pushes Brewster down the pecking order I’m afraid, also Divock is in front of him.

5.) 21 May 2020 08:17:27
It’s looking unlikely we will sign werner.

12 May 2020 10:06:01
ed002 do you think they should have all ready worked out what should be done if they cannot finish the season, plan for the worst hope for the best. All ways seems better to plan for all scenarios rather than acting on it in the last minute let the clubs know what all options are from the start.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Yes, it should have been addressed.}

1.) 12 May 2020 11:23:59
Fail to prepare means prepare to fail.

2.) 12 May 2020 13:23:47
Ed002 is it still the plan to have cl and el in August. If so would it not be better to look to start the league in July them 3 or 4 weeks could make such a difference. The teams could start training in June. . Hopefully we should be a lot further forward in the virus by then.

{Ed002's Note - It will not be possible to complete the games in three or four weeks. The plan is still to play the CL and EL in August. And don't forget that tehre are FA Cup games that The FA want to complete by the end of the first week in August.}

3.) 12 May 2020 14:21:10
ed can I ask how they plan to do Cl and El games would they still be 2 legs as they can't have home and away with psg not allowed to play home games or will it be like a little tournament in one country turkey for cl not sure where the el final is to be held.

{Ed002's Note - They plan on playing out the missing second legs behind closed doors at neutral venues and then single leg games for the remaining ties at neutral venues. Locations were to be Russia and Turkey - but that needs re-thinking.}

20 Mar 2020 15:50:47
Mohamed Salah has reportedly donated £1.1m to help Egypt hospitals fighting against the Coronavirus. well done MO xx.

grino75

1.) 21 Mar 2020 06:32:28
I think he donates regularly to various charities.

2.) 22 Mar 2020 18:37:37
Not his biggest fan but good on him for that gesture.

10 Dec 2019 22:41:43
Ed001 do we have any interest in Minamino he looked Klopp type player in both games against us. not seen him play any more than them 2 games but the lad never stopped running and seemed to have a good football brain with the runs he made. I think he would be a great back up to Mane and salah.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

1.) 11 Dec 2019 04:18:53
I was thinking a great back up to Firmino. But yeah.

2.) 11 Dec 2019 11:56:39
I would love Minimino. I think he would be a fantastic signing to provide injury cover and depth as well as help push for competition in the side. Only watched him twice, but thoroughly impressed, reminds me of Kagawa before he left Dortmund and ruined his careers.

I genuinely think Liverpool had one of the harder groups this year, Salzburg are a fantastic team and if they don't get ripped apart in the summer transfer window I could see them performing well again next season.

3.) 11 Dec 2019 17:12:50
Hopefully they can stop ManU back dooring another easy route to CL like a few years ago!

4.) 12 Dec 2019 08:54:50
You have seen only two games and think he would be good back up
that is some real dangerous scouting there mate lol
tbh he looks good but players often raise their game when playing a big team so to speak and so be careful after two games wanting to sign someone.

5.) 12 Dec 2019 09:22:07
Paul Joyce reporting this morning that we’ll try for him in January. Be a great signing if we could get it over the line.

6.) 12 Dec 2019 09:38:26
Morning eds n reds

Like all of you i've only seen him in the two games against us but he seems the sort of player klopp likes. he's quick, some skill and never stops running. Ed2, Janes Pearce is reporting we will bid for him. I know you have answered already, but is there any change.

Cheers all.

{Ed002's Note - Augsburg were keen in the summer and at one time Everton and Dynamo Moscow had scouts look at Takumi Minamino. His agent and a third party lawyer have held discussions recently with Werder Bremen about the player and seemingly Liverpool are interested, but I am not aware of any offer being made just yet.}

7.) 12 Dec 2019 09:42:04
just seen on sky sports we are in for him and he has a £7.25m release clause that would be a right bargain. in this day and age.

{Ed002's Note - Any "release clause" would be irrelevant for Liverpool.}

8.) 12 Dec 2019 09:56:13
There ya go now it's reported we are in for him for 7mil in the January window.

9.) 12 Dec 2019 09:56:45
According to Paul Joyce of the times Klopp is a driving force for a 7milliion move this January.

10.) 12 Dec 2019 11:12:54
ed002 is every release clause the same I know you have said in the summer about Julian Brandt release clause being for German clubs only but I don't get why Minamino would have one for the same league as he is in as he is all ready at the best club there.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation with realse clauses, buy out clauses and termination clauses on many occasions. Firmino had a €25M "release" clause but Liverpool paid far mor for the player.}

11.) 12 Dec 2019 11:57:26
Thanks ed2. Going to be a busy day for you .

27 Sep 2019 22:30:45
Ed001 is it true Liverpool have triggered one-year contract extension clause Joel matip's contract.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, they have been trying to get him to sign a new deal for a while, so that would suggest no deal could be done.}

2.) 20 May 2020 21:52:25
Yes I second that Grino, happy anniversary Ed mate. Maybe next year will be your year for a pot or 2.

{Ed025's Note - i cant see it DTD but we all live in hope mate, beating the reds for once would be a good start though and thats as high as im aiming at the moment my friend..

3.) 20 May 2020 21:53:54
Ed025 I'm still waiting for you to adopt me.

{Ed025's Note - consider yourself adopted barry, you know your my favourite poster mate and a surrogate evertonian.. :)

4.) 21 May 2020 12:32:58
Happy Anniversary as well, Ed25. Please, enjoy the the cake laced with some crow I'm about to send you. As for Brady, I will leave history to judge her conduct through out this process. Enjoy your day, man.

{Ed025's Note - all is fair in love and football RM, a fair bit of stick will be given and recieved but thats just part of being a football fan especially on merseyside, as for miss brady the less said about that selfish cow the better mate..

5.) 22 May 2020 10:07:43
Right - Sorry to steal thunder Barry but what about me 25? 😬.

{Ed025's Note - i do love you drogie but me and barry have a special bond, we are basically blood brothers mate and if i had not been married to my lovely wife for 41 years i would be living over the brush with bazza in louth.. :)

6.) 22 May 2020 18:46:24
Clearly disappointed 25 mate but I have heard Barry’s reputation precedes him in Louth and surrounding villages 😍.

{Ed033's Note - I thought the special bond was Ed007:)

7.) 22 May 2020 19:00:52
Ed025 or should I call you Dad? You just brought a tear to my eye with that response to Drogie😢.

{Ed025's Note - i have that effect on a lot of people barry mate.. :)

8.) 23 May 2020 07:04:50
Ed025 "i hope you get everything karen brady wants" what sodomy followed by a donkey punch?

{Ed025's Note - leave karen alone KC, she is the voice of reason mate.. :)

18 May 2020 08:35:00
I watched the German football over the weekend seemed very strange without fans. But I found it even more strange that I see fans watching the football in pubs in Germany.

grino75

1.) 18 May 2020 09:03:00
The Germans got a grip of the outbreak a lot quicker then we did and now they are returning to some sort of normality. Most of the country is open with social distancing in place. We are weeks away from that.

2.) 18 May 2020 12:51:26
WYred, that may be true that Germany have been reopening progressively BUT listening to Angela Merkel (Why can't we have her as POTUS instead well, that guy) said they are on a knife's edge in terms of a possibility of a spike in in cases occurring. Hence, we should just take things one day at a time BUT you are right, the UK is nowhere near the testing levels that Germany have.

OP as for the games in the Bundesliga this week, I was not that bothered that much about the atmosphere cos well, I already knew there would be no fans present so if that is already baked into your thinking hence, you just focus on the game itself and I thought they were very entertaining even tho you could tell that some teams/ players were short of the required fitness levels.

17 May 2020 11:16:53
ed002 how much are the parachute payments for relegated teams, and do you think they should go and that money be shared out between all the teams in the lower leagues. Sheff Utd have shown teams coming up don't have to go mad in the transfer market as a lot of the times teams like Fulham who bring in to many players don't do to good Norwich have been very unlucky this season but if them and villa go down Norwich will be in a lot better state. I know Villa was in a strange place at the end of last season with so many players out of contract.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Currently the payments last three years and are based on the income the clubs get from the broadcasting rights of the season they are relegated: 100% due the year they are relegated, 55% of that figure in year one, 45% in year two and 20% in year three. It is likely to change going forward as it horribly distorts the income relegated clubs have in the Championship (or even below). Fulham purchased players without any sort of plan to integrate them and that did the damage. Aston Vill are one of two Premier League sides who have major FFP issues but the Premier League will give some relief this summer due to the pandemic.}

1.) 17 May 2020 12:27:51
its a good bit of money then ed what would be a lot better shared out between all teams. ed could you see there ever being a premier league 2 being done what would make a stronger league 2nd div and a few more of the smaller clubs going semi pro or at least cutting wages down. because if this does not go sooner rather than later there will be big trouble and if there was another outbreak like this again not sure to many of the smaller clubs could survive.

{Ed002's Note - The Premier League make a solidarity payment to all lower tier professional sides already.

There is already a Premier League 2.

There are too many professional clubs in England - it cannot be sustained - I have explained this before.}

01 May 2020 09:19:08
ed001 I see there is a lot of talk about Kalidou Koulibaly today. I would love to see him at the back with VVD but at 29 in the summer don't see £70m+ as a player we would go for. If we did sign him though could not see us letting to many goals in even less than we do now.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - why? Gomez is better. Koulibaly is extremely reliant on physicality and has a tendency to dally on the ball when he has it at his feet. Massively overrated as he looks great doing last ditch challenges that he should never have needed to make, if he was actually great. No thank you. I would much prefer Gomez any day.}

1.) 01 May 2020 10:47:50
Silly rumour imo Gomez for me is much better especially at reading danger before it becomes danger
Why waste money on a position we have no need for.

2.) 01 May 2020 11:09:55
Hi Ed001, hope your well mate? Not seen you on here as much recently mate, probably because there is very little to talk about other than what happens to the remainder of the season. On that what are your own thoughts please as to what will happen with the remainder of the season and how it ends?

{Ed001's Note - don't really care to be honest, there are far more important things to worry about than that. It is just a game.}

3.) 01 May 2020 11:41:46
I don't see the need to bring in a defender who's going to take Joe's first team spot. Gomez has the ability to be one of the best out there.
In my opinion, already the best English Centre Back at the minute

He maybe has to improve concentration at times, but there are few CB's who don't (hence the need for he spectacular tackles that get them noticed in the first place)

Am I guilty of over rating or biased? Maybe, but it just my opinion.

ED01.Whats your opinion on Gomez, and the current crop of England CB's?

{Ed001's Note - most of the England centre-backs around now are poor defenders, they are all midfielders playing at the back and struggle with positioning. Gomez is one that stands out because he plays like a defender with quality on the ball too. Gomez is excellent and, once he got back to form, he was actually our best centre-back over the final part of the season. That tells you a lot, as van Dijk is world class and yet Gomez was playing better than he was.}

4.) 01 May 2020 12:26:10
Cheers ED001

There were a few games towards the end where I thought Virgil looked a bit less van Dijk and a bit more Lovren, but as brilliant as he is, even the best have their off days, and for all the other times he's been world class, I forgive him😉

Hope everyone is keeping sane, safe and happy during these crazy times.

{Ed001's Note - he looked in need of a break to me, while Gomez was all fresh and firing.}

5.) 01 May 2020 12:29:39
ed001 I know its a bit early to say to much but Japhet Tanganga from spurs looks a good prospect. he reminds me a bit of Gomez very fast over the ground can play all across the back.

{Ed001's Note - his positioning at centre-back is awful, he is a long way from looking ready. He was fine when man-marking, but struggled badly when playing the position.}

6.) 01 May 2020 13:42:30
Joe Gomez hasn’t lost a premier league game in two seasons. But I’m happy we’re linked with the elite players. Mbappe Koulibaly Werner etc. It’s good to see this rather than Borini Barry and Lambert.

7.) 01 May 2020 15:17:55
Gomez is hands down one of the best young CB's in Europe, IMO. He has immense quality on the ball, physical, is improving his passing ability and has the speed of Mo Salah or close to it. I remember him matching Leroy Sane step for step as top speed. What CB in Europe do you know that can do that?

I also remember people railing that we should sign De Ligt from Ajax last summer for stupid money. I said then that De Ligt is only good or looks good cos he has VVD playing next to him for Holland. Juve played stupid money for him and already reportedly want rid.

IMO, Gomez is the perfect partner for VVD and if he can stay healthy, he has the potential to actually be better than VVD cos well to some, he is capable of outplaying him.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously not what Klipperty thinks.}

8.) 01 May 2020 20:21:41
Of course, Ed02. It is my opinion. Klopp is free to think differently or have another opinion.

27 Apr 2020 10:38:03
ed002 if they restart the season and with all the noise coming out now seems more likely, And the cl and el to be sorted in august. After the break the players have had do you expect just a short break at the end of this season and the start of next season as this is the longest a lot of the top players have had in a long time.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - I would not take any notice of any dates at this time. There will be another discussion on Friday and there is a planned discussion beforehand to take medical advice.}

1.) 27 Apr 2020 11:09:18
I think you can see money is starting to take over other thoughts first though ed. I hope we don't come out to soon and get a second wave. I think we see that before the lockdown with Cheltenham and are game with Madrid what both should never have gone ahaead.

{Ed002's Note - That is the reason to ignore all of the dates being mentioned at the moment. Restarting this season has significant risks associated with health aside from the logistical issues.}

2.) 27 Apr 2020 16:38:38
I really can't see football restarting until they have been able to answer the question "What happens if someone at a club catches the virus? "

That really is the kicker. They can plan to play all the remaining games in a 2 month window or whatever the practical ideas are. But these all hinge on player's and staff staying isolated as much as they possibly can.

If one member of a club tests positive, every other member of that club and anyone they've been in contact with over the previous 2 weeks needs to isolate as well, that could well be 4 other clubs.

That puts maybe 5 clubs out of action for at least 2 weeks.

If anyone at any club gets the virus that essentially puts to bed any possibility of completing the league by the end of July, and I don't see how they can work around that.

3.) 27 Apr 2020 20:29:38
Grino75, of course money will be the main thing concerning the restart of the season. There are so many facets to this topic that involves money (whether owed to clubs for transfers, banks due to loans, financial commitment to creditors, etc. ) that it is near impossible to take money out of it and this affects LFC especially, as Ed02 has said.

I have always said the season should be finished BUT only when it is safe to do so hence, not arsed about whatever dates being put out there cos COVID19 couldn't be arsed about any of that. The health officials MUST be the ones to rule on this and their advice strongly considered before anything reopening of life hence, the season can even be considered.

I don't think Gomez should play rb he offers nothing going forward like TAA and Robertson do would much rather see Williams cover TAA. yes I think we need to replace Lovren in the squad but the money needed to buy Carlos could be spent better in other parts of the squad. I don't see Gomez as an injury problem as much as Lovren and Matip who seem to pick up muscle injurys all the time.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Gomez is versatile and that is great to have in a side.}

ed do you think Uefa and fifa thinking about there own competitions have not helped sort this all out and if they wanted to finish the season they could have just waited a bit longer before restarting leagues. Winter breaks could have gone next season and some of the international friendly's removed to help with fixtures next season.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - FIFA has delayed tournaments and have assisted the leagues. UEFA has no control over the domestic leagues but are intent on fulfilling the CL, EL and starting qualification for next season in August. Hence the July 31 date - which might be able to move a week or so. The drop dead date for the start of the Premier League for next season is September 12.}
