Ed001 is it true Liverpool have triggered one-year contract extension clause Joel matip's contract.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, they have been trying to get him to sign a new deal for a while, so that would suggest no deal could be done.}

25 Aug 2019 16:52:50
ed002 has the interest in lovren gone or do you expect him to move before the window closes all so are rangers back in for kent see something about a loan to buy at the end of the season cheers again ed.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed with Lovren really - the interest remains but Roma have looked at others as Liverpool want a straight sale. Besiktas see him as a cheap option but have not pushed as I under stand it and Milan see Devan Lovren (CB) as a cheap option to preferred targets given the significant issues there are in Milan but Liverpool rejected an approach. Bayer Leverkusen need to do something as they had a young English player as first choice and lost out, a young Welsh player as second choice but he is not really ready to step up and Laurent Koscielny as a back stop. DL is seen as a cheap back stop, and would rather someone younger and would likely want a loan.}

1.) 25 Aug 2019 20:00:39
I'd hope that we can keep lovren for this season if he is willing to wait another year before moving on. He's a great experienced option to have as backup and with us pushing this season to finally win that elusive league I hope he can be convinced to play his part when needed with the promise that next summer he will be given full control to choose his future.

We won't be realistically seeing a massive difference in his financial worth over 12 months so unless he is adamant he wants out this summer it would be sensible to try and keep him for now. Another year of development with van den berg and Hoever might see them being ready next season to replace lovren as first team option and if not then we will have time to pursue signing a lovren replacement.

I guess it all hinges on lovrens personal wishes right now and we should respect his choice as he's been a good servant to the club over the years. Any idea ED what his standing is? Is he pushing for transfer this year or would he be willing to remain a squad player for another season?

{Ed002's Note - He is getting older and wants to play regularly.}

2.) 25 Aug 2019 21:43:08
Considering his age, it should be a sale. If it's a loan, then it should be with an obligation to buy.

3.) 25 Aug 2019 22:24:04
I have respect for him wanting to play regularly and looking to take a step down in quality of team to achieve that and fully support him if he wants out. He's still got a potential 4 or 5 years that he can play in a top league so I'm hoping he can decide to give us another year before departing, . I'm sure any potential transfer this summer hinges on whether klopp feels that one of the youngsters can be competent enough to be used.

14 Aug 2019 08:13:03
Ed001 have we ever shown any interest in psv pair Hirving Lozano and Steven Bergwijn and what do you think about the pair of them .

grino75

{Ed001's Note - no and neither look good enough to me.}

1.) 15 Aug 2019 12:36:32
ED1- was it not yourself who championed Lozano for a while? Or was that ED2?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know. I did think he might be a decent bet after seeing a few performances, but I don't remember recommending him for Liverpool. He looks very good when you watch a game, but if you sit and watch him play, like I did recently for his profile, his flaws are massively evident.}

2.) 15 Aug 2019 20:36:38
Sometimes you have to watch a player closely to make a proper judgement. I had non- Liverpool (and Liverpool) fans who used to think Luis Garcia was amazing, I personally found him infuriating to watch, similarly it’s the opposite with Firmino.

29 Jul 2019 16:36:06
ed002 have your heard of any interest in Francois Kamano from Liverpool? thanks.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - I haven’t but I am aware of talks with Torino and Sampdoria.}

1.) 29 Jul 2019 21:25:01
Shame would be a good addition.

12 Jul 2019 13:50:24
big Virgil turns down Barcelona enquiry. Shows how far we have come.

grino75

1.) 12 Jul 2019 14:24:22
Why would he want to move to perennial euro semi-finalists?

2.) 12 Jul 2019 16:02:37
If the story is even true!

3.) 12 Jul 2019 16:42:57
While I'm sure he would turn them down considering his past comments about Liverpool. They can't afford him anyway, likely just a rumour.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 17:43:17
Never happened.

5.) 12 Jul 2019 18:00:14
Didn’t know Barcelona had a spare billion euros!

6.) 12 Jul 2019 18:07:05
Wasn't there some ridiculous clause about how much extra Barcelona had to pay for one of our players? Or is that just paper BS?

7.) 12 Jul 2019 18:07:05
Wasn't there some ridiculous clause about how much extra Barcelona had to pay for one of our players? Or is that just paper BS?

8.) 12 Jul 2019 19:15:32
I thought it was just that the full Coutinho fee would become payable if they buy another of our players. Wonder how that would work if he leaves.

9.) 12 Jul 2019 19:32:01
I think they're stuck with Coutinho for the time being. There's only a handful of clubs than can afford him, and I don't think any of them are interested.

I think the only viable destination this summer is Manchester United, but he's already ruled himself out of that move. Maybe Chelsea in a year. Or maybe they can offload him to PSG as part of a deal for Neymar.

10.) 13 Jul 2019 04:47:13
There's no way they could afford him anyway. Griezmann and De Jong at big money, then they're looking to sign Neymar for even more, and they still haven't reduced their wage bill with Suarez, Messi, Couts, Dembele etc still banging about.

11.) 13 Jul 2019 07:50:32
Virgil is happy for now but I wouldn’t be surprised in a year or two if Real Madrid or Barcelona show serious interest that he will push to leave.

12.) 13 Jul 2019 07:51:53
Yea the rumours I’ve heard (websites etc) is that Barcelona want to include him in the neymar deal. But still be interesting to know how that clause would work if he’s sold.

13.) 13 Jul 2019 09:32:36
Could this alleged approach be considered tapping up eds?

{Ed002's Note - Of course it isn't. But putting aside all of the completely stupid responses, perhaps van Dijk would do to Liverpool what Liverpool had him do to Southampton?}

14.) 13 Jul 2019 11:18:09
Was just about to say the same Ed002. The absolute biased blinkered rubbish some Liverpool fans spout is vomit inducing. I'm a Liverpool fan and love Virgil, but I'm under no illusions that if he feels the move would be better for him that he wouldn't push for it. Same goes for any player. It's about time some fans opened their eyes and got used to the fact that liverpool isn't the centre of the universe for these players. It's a job, and as in all walks of life people change jobs for what THEY perceive to be a better opportunity.

15.) 13 Jul 2019 22:51:31
Whether this story is true or not I never really understand peoples surprise if one of our players leaves. Real Madrid and Barcelona and PSG all pay considerably higher wages, why wouldn't you go? Neymar left Barcelona after all. What'
s Bale on in Spain more than he'd get in the premier league I imagine,

ed001 how has Marko Grujić season started I have seen he has scored 2 goals in 7 games so far. And do you see him having a future with us or if he has another good season being sold on at the end of this season. Not sure from what I see of him if he suits are style of play don't think he has the speed to play in are midfield I know Fabinho is not like hendo and co but he plays a different role to all are other midfielders.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - he has been excellent so far this season and I know Klopp would like to bring him back, if he is willing. That will be the key, how he feels about coming back, as Klopp wants players who are desperate to play for Liverpool. The other big issue is the work permit situation, which could be a huge problem due to the way we handled getting the initial permit.}

1.) 08 Oct 2019 11:36:59
Looks brilliant and a lot like the player we signed from Belgrade. I hope our recklessness with his work permit doesn't affect his future prospects for work in England, would be gutted if that was the case. He single handedly tore Bayern a new one this season.

2.) 08 Oct 2019 14:00:27
If he can slot into one of the central midfield positions and backup up Fabinho, then it's worth taking a shot at bringing him back in. And if we go by an interview I saw recently, he really does want to play for the club.

3.) 08 Oct 2019 19:01:40
I hope MG can come back and make a name fr himself at LFC. The kid is talented cos he is showing it in Germany right now. Here's to hoping his work permit issues can be resolved.

4.) 08 Oct 2019 23:07:22
The chances of him wanting to play for Liverpool are zero, in my opinion. Grujic will argue that he is showing his talent now, because he is given opportunities. He will not want to come back to Liverpool and further disrupt his playing career.

5.) 10 Oct 2019 08:21:29
He’s not a fabinho type player aray.

23 Sep 2019 13:10:43
Ed001 I would say the Adrian transfer is the best business of the summer to sell Mings for over £6m and to get him for free and not sure but would guess he is in less wages great business.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - a lot less wages.}

1.) 23 Sep 2019 14:13:10
well he deserves a pay rise. I was dreading it when Alisson got injured. But he has got better with every game and if Alisson was not such an outstanding keeper he would be unlucky to lose his place when he comes back.

2.) 23 Sep 2019 14:13:10
well he deserves a pay rise. I was dreading it when Alisson got injured. But he has got better with every game and if Alisson was not such an outstanding keeper he would be unlucky to lose his place when he comes back.

{Ed001's Note - he is loving it as well. It is like all his Christmases have come at once and it is so nice to see a player who is just delighted to be where he is.}

3.) 23 Sep 2019 17:21:48
Think he'll get a Spain call up ed?

{Ed001's Note - probably not though he probably deserves one.}

4.) 23 Sep 2019 18:03:59
"Best business of the summer"?

We signed him, two kids and a veteran third choice keeper on a free that last played in the Championship. I think it's a bit early to judge the kids, but yeah, Adrian's done a great job deputising so far.

5.) 23 Sep 2019 18:04:55
He’s getting better and better. Great saves for the header against Napoli, stood up well for the 1v1 against Abraham and made a cracking save before the disallowed goal.

Like you said about being happy to be here ed, he truly seems it. Albeit he may have less than 10 games left in his Liverpool career!

Is he on a one year contract ed?

He seems like the perfect prem number 2, as he has shown that he can cover if needed and Allison can’t rest on his laurels. But also a good pro and will understand if he doesn’t play much.

6.) 23 Sep 2019 22:08:21
Adrian did not have a full preseason when he got picked up literally off the street/ couch before the season began. This showed in his first few games as he was out of shape and off the pace not only physically but mentally and was not yet used to the way we play. It also did not help that he got injured in the Super Cup and played the Saints game on a bummed ankle and yet, still managed to keep us in the game in the first half.

The int'l break came at the best time as clearly, he and the coaches spent the time really working hard on his game and what is expected of him in the Klopp system. Now, it is showing and IMO, he has been a rock for us. His perf. vs Napoli was AB1-esque and he was solid again vs Chelsea. As Ed 01 said, all his Christmases seem to have come true and he is giving it loads. Great professional and is now a fan fav., IMO.

7.) 25 Sep 2019 01:19:06
Really has worked out nicely. He was signed with us all thinking he'd never be needed but thrown into action straight away and has improved week after week. You could tell after the super cup how happy he is to have this opportunity with us and when allison returns he might not be used much again and even if that is the case he will be more than proud of his role and we can forever remember him as an iconic legend similar to how Gary McAllister is.

Let's hope he stays solid until allison returns and if we manage to claim glory by next may then Adrian will be deserved of big credit to playing a huge involvement in our strong early form.

What's also nice is that if he moves on in a year or 2 he may well have good offers available to play PL football still as a year or 2 simply as allison understudy would have likely seen him fall away from top tier clubs interest.

Fair play to the lad, seems a real genuine nice person who's fulfilling his dream at the point in his career when it seemed so unlikely.

ed001 great result today but we was very lucky to get out there with the points today. I thought Klopp was a bit slow with the subs and I don't know how Gini stayed on the pitch today he was just not at the races all game today, he just kept giving the ball away all game. I felt sorry for trent just left on his own most of the game I thought the Ox should have come on to give us some drive in the middle of the park.

grino75

1.) 22 Sep 2019 20:52:34
Agreed we rode our luck today. It was not just Gini (I don't think he was one of the worst) Salah and Firmino couldn't hold the ball at all, very wastefull. When Hendo went off Trent was left totally exposed, Milner should have gone over that side.

Last sub was very very late, I was screaming for Gomez to come on at 80 mins not 92 mins.

A win is a win 15 in a row and counting. Adrian, Matip both very good.

2.) 22 Sep 2019 21:28:56
taking our foot off the gas was a big mistake, after the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half we seemed to relax a little too much, allowing players time and space to dribble and shoot is something we must stop doing.
2-0 is always a dangerous score line and we very nearly paid the price.
This victory today could be vital come the end of the season as our away form against our top 6 rivals will be key to our title challenge.
Lets not underestimate Sheffield utd either, just ask ed0025 and everton.

3.) 22 Sep 2019 21:39:16
Wjinaldum did what he does. He is an intelligent player. Worked his socks off, as did all the midfield. And when under presdure he still had the legs to drive counter attacks. His skill led to the second goal. Not his best performance but far, far from his worst.

I love him more with every game.

4.) 22 Sep 2019 21:55:49
A win away to chelsea lads, a few years ago it would have been highly unlikely. Wasnt pretty but i think that's the stage where at now, we go away to top 6 teams play poorly (only for 45 mins) and still win. the team just expects to win every game now.

5.) 22 Sep 2019 22:14:49
I don’t see how you can say we were lucky today. I thought we were the better team for the majority of the game and Chelsea only really caused us problems when we tired in the last 15 minutes. Did Adrian have many saves to make second half? Chelsea couldn’t even hit the target with the few chances they had.

6.) 23 Sep 2019 08:06:51
They peppered our goal for nearly 15 minutes we couldn't get out of our own box the subs made were wrong imo by removing salah and mane takes away our first line of defence both of them are double marked the whole game 3 on salah sometimes they just surrounded him but they stay high and it stops chelsea fully committing to attack and bringing on gomez for salah takes me back to throwing 3 goal leads away bang another defender in there to cause confusion in our box.

7.) 23 Sep 2019 15:21:39
Mane was taken off because he had a dead leg, Salah was taken off in the 92nd minute.

ed001 with the state of the refs in football. why have the FA never thought about fast tracking ex pros from the lower leagues when they retire. they understand the game having played. league 1 and 2 players need a job when they finish playing there is not enough jobs in football and so many suffer depression when the only thing they know is taken from them. I all so think there would be better rapport between them and the players when you see some of the ref act like school Teachers talking to kids.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - it is nothing to do with the FA but the PGMOL who trains and employs match officials. It has been suggested many times to put ex-pros in and I am sure I read recently that they are doing a test programme to try it at last.}

1.) 20 Sep 2019 22:51:27
It seems a good idea on the face of it. But refs, guys whos ambition was to become a ref, look at the game differently from the rest of us. In a way i feel sorry for them, then i remember they have the best seat in the house to see worldies going in. They tend to be more intelligent than footballers in general. And footballers, ex pros have favourites and perhaps grudges. Pretty sure they could do the lower leagues though. Anyone know what that young spurs defender who could not play anymore is doing now. He seemed smart enough for the job. In the prem even.

2.) 20 Sep 2019 23:21:38
Interesting thought that actually. I wonder though if it would appeal to many ex players who want to stay in football. Becoming a ref of course still keeps you involved in the game but the lack of competing or working within a team fighting to achieve targets or goals would surely be what they'd crave.

Referees have only a professional responsibility to do their job to the book, have no competitive aspect, no chance of being creative in trying to progress within a team.

Refs play a neutral role and only ever represent themselves and their reputation individually. Would be a very different mentality change from a career of a football player and I wonder would that be a turn off.

Ed001 Just seen a report that new balance hoping to beat Nike to carry on being are kit manufacturer with Nike's offer a reported to be £1bn. That would be massive statement if we get a deal like that. Club keeps going from strength to strength owners really are doing a fantastic job. Hope the Anfield road end gets sorted soon and the owners are here for a long time, can't believe how much they have turned are club round.
YNWA.

grino75

1.) 14 Sep 2019 10:57:04
So do I Grino, I just hope they allocate more seats to the season ticket waiting list than they did for the main stand.

2.) 14 Sep 2019 11:56:10
Hopefully that influx is used to convince Klopp. He is beyond comparison.

3.) 14 Sep 2019 12:02:35
everybody loves a good 'statement'.

am not saying anything about the club Bribing the council am just saying that the normal folk normally get the S*** end off the stick. And as I understand it now there is no plans as they ran out. and it was the local authorities that said they was going to use CPO to get the last of the houses for the main stand.

sorry ed about the 3 roads I meant 4 rows of house for it to have the same height as the main stand would need that for light not to be an issue. And as for the CPO the club would need the planning from local authorities and wants they have that if they get it then it will end up going the CPO route what the club will know will probably have to go that way to get all the houses need for the build. But as most of the time nowadays ed its the money that talks. Like I said before ed if the club wants that stand doing I do think paying over the odds for the houses would be the best way for the club to deal with the issue not that I have heard of any talk of the Sir Kenny Dalglish stand being done I was just pointing out that I see the being a bit off if it ever happens.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - You seem to have little or no understanding of the plans that exist nor how the locals are already miffed with the club. You think Liverpool could bribe the council to get CPOs to make more locals homeless then you should be sharing those with the Echo and local community. Don’t worry, they are inner city folks who have little money and could probably be forced out by the club.}

yes I know the local authorities have to get it ed but if they put in planning for the SKD stand and it got granted, that is the only way they would get all the houses, And then I do believe it would go that way not that I like CPO. have seen people near me have there house taken from them with CPO'S I think if they are used the owners should get more than the value of the house rather than less. And with the money in clubs now with what they pay players for one weeks wages over paying for the house near by would be go good way to go about it. I would guess the house at the back of the ground would be about the £100k mark giving an extra 25% would not be a great deal to the clubs but I would mean a lot to the home owners ed. I think in the 4 streets there is about 80 houses so about £8m for all the house an extra £2m on top with what they are paying to get the ground up to 70k with what an 70k stadium would cost to build.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - Sorry I am losing track - you say you know it would be the authorities but previously said it would be the club. Nobody has suggested three roads will go. The club has already pissed off and lied about their involvement with the local residents. The club suffers from being arrogant, uncaring and showing no respect to other clubs or individuals - perhaps they will look to force more people from their homes.}

ED002 did they not get one for the main stand . And if they was to do the skd stand there is no way that could not be done without at least 3 streets being knocked down. I don’t know why they could not to get compulsory purchase order.

grino75

{Ed002's Note - That is not what the existing planning permission states. Liverpool cannot get a CPO - that would need to be the local authorities.}

I think the big problem for the premier is we start are league to soon yet finish before most other countries leagues. I think the size of the championship and league 1-2 means they have to start then to get 46 games in and the carabao cup starts so early. End of the season Liverpool and spurs had about a 3 week wait for the champions league final yet after a World Cup the players where back in no time. So I do think starting all major leagues the same weekend would be a lot better to help this problem.

ed001 I thought we was sloppy all night. but like you said it was easy and in the first 35 mins we did a few good movies and looked like we could score a will and after the 3rd went it them moves just stopped. but I thought in side the ground the atmosphere was the same I think we thought it was just turning up was good enough and it nearly was. But I don't think it was probably are best result all season because of the lesson we learnt you normally get something like that now and again to just to remind you not to take any team for granted but you normally lose or draw them so happy with the 3 points.

grino75

{Ed001's Note - hopefully it is the kick up the arse needed and not going to confirm in the players' minds that they can get away with it.}

I think Leicester are a good side but even when they beat spurs spurs created chances without playing well. And but for the smallest offside spurs would have put the game to rest. against utd Leicester had lots off the ball and did not create a great deal. I feel Gomez should come back in for the Leicester game his and VVD pace take the Vardy break a little out of the equation. last season the 2 games against Leicester we gifted them to silly goals the Alisson one at there place and the silly free kick just before half time in the awful conditions. And I don't see another performance like Saturday for a while that was like city's Norwich one but we got away with it. but Wednesday comes first we need to get are first points on table.
