Morning Eds, Do you think we will be looking at adding another central midfielder? It's obvious he doesn't rate Endo who could possibly leave in January but I do still think we are short in that position.
Do you think we will go after anyone or who would be your recommendations if you could pick? Thanks.
3
{Ed001's Note - I don't expect a midfielder to be added as it is not seen as a priority.}
3
10 Dec 2025 11:25:28
Semenyo and Guehi have to be the priority for January. don't see the immediate need to do anything else until summer. Enough gelling to do as it stands.
6
10 Dec 2025 11:31:06
It’s crazy how we don’t see midfield as a priority, not in Jan or this past summer, this was never a solid midfield despite how well we performed first half of last season. It’s our biggest weakness in the team for me, that as well as Konate.
2
10 Dec 2025 12:15:25
To be fair, we have a lot of midfielders; Endo, Bajcetic, Gravenberch, Nyoni, Mac Allister, Jones, Wirtz, Szoboszlai
8 midfielders for 2-4 positions (depending on formation) should be enough. However, It's debateable though if we have enough quality or the right blend/ mould of midfielders.
CB is clearly the issue for me. We only have Virgil, Konate and Gomez now Leoni is out for the season. Virgil is 34. Konate is a liability. Gomez is more of a RB. Lucky might be moved up to the first team more permanently in the near future but he's barely played at senior level. We need at least 2 CB's. Guehi, Bastoni and Ordonez seem to be legitimate targets.
Other than that, Semenyo is going to be a necessity if as suspected, Salah leaves the club. As we'd then only have Gakpo, Chiesa and Rio as out and out wingers. Chiesa who Slot doesn't play, Rio who is a child and Gakpo who is injured and not playing well this season.
Ordonez, Guehi/ Bastoni and Semenyo is a realistically good January window for us. Sounds mad to sat we need 3 players in January after what we spent in the summer, but it's clear there were some oversights in the transfer dealings that need to be put right.
2
10 Dec 2025 12:51:38
We basically replaced our entire midfield 2 summers ago.
And have added to it.
Probably why they don't see it as the immediate priority.
However I can see at least 2 midfielders leave the club in summer 2026.
1
10 Dec 2025 12:52:17
I think at the moment the midfield is the only area where we have some form of normality. It hasn't been great, lack of form etc, and yes we do need someone with strength and control there, but if with all the other changes going on at rb, lb, trying to incorporate wirtz, ekitike, isak into the team, I think we need one part at least that is a constant- to build around.
January has to be about what we needed and was even put out there in the summer - a cb or two, and a flexible wideman. Not sure if guehi will leave palace in January, so will it be ordonez? And sounds like semenyo, although this diomande is being spoken about in this last week.
3
10 Dec 2025 15:27:58
In my opinion we lack a midfielder who can control the midfield and other than Dom being capable of everything, lack one that can tackle.
We currently have generalist midfielders that (i) lack awareness of game state and (ii) don't have the ability to impose themselves on games. Dom is the exception of course.

Good Evening Ed. I saw a link to defender Wilfried Singo. Ivorian defender currently playing in Turkey. Just curious if you've heard anything.
Thanks!

{Ed001's Note - only that we have watched him. I don't know anything about the lad though.}

09 Dec 2025 23:38:19
Hi all
As it stands, Salah has played his last game for the club.
There are 4 or 5 players in the dressing room causing "issues"
That's all for now.
4
{Ed078's Note - I think you can expect the obvious questions...
4
10 Dec 2025 00:40:42
Gonna have a wild guess at macca, konate, Virgil, salah, andddddd hmmm idk.
2
10 Dec 2025 01:03:06
Obvious question : is it 4 or 5 players causing issues?
3
10 Dec 2025 01:37:22
Imagine, players not getting what 5hey want, when they want it and how much they can get of it. Liverpool FC are the first and only club in the history of football who have dissatisfied players.
In my 42 year IT career in Britain, Holland, Germany, America and Australia I must be very lucky as I’ve never met anybody who wasn’t 100% totally content with their job.
7
10 Dec 2025 04:23:27
Ballotelli? Mamadu? . Chewy?
3
10 Dec 2025 05:44:50
Classic ITK, vague and ambiguous.
9
10 Dec 2025 06:39:36
With respect, working in IT isn’t exactly powdering the assets of Monica Bellucci. There will be disaffected employees, especially if you’re their co-worker.
5
10 Dec 2025 07:38:04
Is it me or are more and more people.
Spacing out their sentences.
To make it look like
They're in the know.
😉.
26
10 Dec 2025 07:45:38
I think that is an hilariously inaccurate first comment WDW but I give it 100% for giggle power!
The second I cannot argue your belief but I assume that means nobody in the 42 years that you worked with alongside for or in collaboration with ever resigned?! If I’m 100% content I wouldn’t?!
3
10 Dec 2025 07:46:17
Another ITK Jesus LFC has become leaky not only in defence but in all this info getting out too - ITKs are multiplying like rats these days.
4
10 Dec 2025 07:46:42
You could be onto something there.
2
10 Dec 2025 07:56:35
You can believe what you like - simply passing on what I know. I don't know who the 5 are specifically as he didn't say, but I'd hazard a guess at looking at who supports Mo's insta.
With regards to transfers, recent events/ results haven't affected the plans (yet) which are basically as everyone on here says they are already. Is that ok now I've removed the logical spacing?
That's all for now!
3
10 Dec 2025 08:03:14
All of this is totally being blown out of proportion. New squad, new people, looks like a Utd team to me last night. No way VVD as captain and Dutch will be causing issues for Slot.
1
10 Dec 2025 08:07:43
That made me chuckle 2shoes.
And it is a good point.
Spacing out replies make it seem like we know what we are talking about ;)
3
10 Dec 2025 09:12:45
I'd complete the task of Monica Bellucis powdering assistant for Free.
4
10 Dec 2025 09:49:07
I have not been given names but I know there is unrest, not over Slot but the way some players have been acting towards others.
7
10 Dec 2025 10:29:39
Wait a second, it wasn't that long ago that people calling out posters questions/ answers for being misspelled. They were being told off due to persons being dyslexic.
Now you want posters who are correctly using paragraphs to stop as it bugs you. It is nice to get information and I don't need you to ruin that by running down the original posters writing style.
Remember where we are and respect other supporters as we have enough hate out there without anyone here adding to it.
Keep posting whatever way you want, don't be put off by unhelpful comments about your posts structure.

10 Dec 2025 10:50:39
Cheers Thefields.
This underlines the importance of recruitment. It is why ManU have struggled since Fergusson left. It is why so many teams struggle.
I think our 2 summer transfer windows under Edwards/ Hughes have disrupted the team. You need to recruit steadily, not “feast and famine” like Edwards/ Hughes. Feast/ famine disrupts the dressing room dynamic, cliques form. It takes a very strong and well established manager to prevent that. Fergusson being an obvious example, Klopp being another. Slot has only been here 18 months or so.
In addition, you need to recruit players who are a) very talented b) fit the tactical approach but also c) have the personality to fit in the squad/ dressing room.
I think Edwards/ Hughes have got a lot wrong so far and are making it more difficult for Slot.
5
10 Dec 2025 12:07:37
To be fair, i don't think the guy was calling him out for spacing sentences, i think it was a bit of harmless banter is all.
2
10 Dec 2025 12:15:08
@ItSaul, @Metro, look up 😉
As with my original post, I don’t mean to be literal.
1
10 Dec 2025 12:15:35
We lost 8 first team players and recruited 7.Of those 8 Kelleher, Trent, Diaz and Jota were unavoidable and most would agree Quansah, Tsimikas, Morton and Nunez had to move on. We've lost more 1st team players than we've bought since Slot came in. We've signed less players than most of the top teams in Slots 3 windows so far.
1
10 Dec 2025 12:19:35
Spot on Ron.
Recruitment needs to be spot on with regards to team integration and Klopp had it down to a fine art.
I can take and educated guess and say something is going on between Kerkez, Virgil and Gakpo. Mo seems to have a problem with Isak and Wirtz. Virgil is always on his back and blames him for things, that are his fault. Gakpo doesn't pass to him at all. Mo barely passed to either Wirtz or Isak. If I remember correctly Wirtz was in the box in space a couple of times and Mo being Mo, shot or tried to go past someone. That's just from watching the matches we have played tho, so could be nothing as well.
1
{Ed025's Note - I think you may be looking too deep into things TF..
2
10 Dec 2025 12:31:21
Those are all great points Ron. Couldn't agree more.
1
10 Dec 2025 13:10:34
I don't know thefields, I can think of plenty of times mo passed to wirtz or isak and vice versa, it's just that mo always has instances where his instinct is to go for it himself as well so you could have evidence of that regardless of which player you put in there for him to pass to. He has tried to put either of them through on other occasions too though.
As for gakpo and kerkez, I wonder how much of that is down to cody himself and how much of it is down to instruction.
1
10 Dec 2025 13:32:53
True Ed25 😂.
1
10 Dec 2025 13:53:48
Aye PB. There are other examples, I was just using what I remember and getting the wrong answer tbh 😂. Gakpo is probably just being Gakpo, although I'm sure he didn't have a problem passing to Robo when he has played.
Without knowing who is involved, my mind looks for answers and the only thing I can go off is the matches. Hence why I've picked those instances out.
1
09 Dec 2025 17:56:26
Hi Eds or anyone itk,
Clearly Salah looks like he'll be leaving, any idea on how much we'd be asking for? And do you think there will potentially be a clear out of other players who have supported Salah?
2
{Ed001's Note - I have no idea how much and I very much doubt it.}
4
09 Dec 2025 21:36:51
Ed01, i think i read somewhere that you said, its the club that been hawking him around behind his back. I personally feel its quite shameful to treat such a legend like that. I get it that the club wants to move forward. I just think that there's much better way to do that than this. This feels like a betrayal for me.
9
09 Dec 2025 22:19:44
Bye, Bye Salah F. C. 4 games unbeaten! Clean Sheet to Boot!
Diamond worked a treat, where has it been all season when suggested weekly, more compact no gaps, not the performance we wanted but the result we needed, tough game Brighton same diamond system again must be tried, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Wonder if we could bring Bastoni on the Plane home?
8
09 Dec 2025 22:58:31
I have been crying out for the diamond formation all season. It accommodates most of our best players, at the expense of Salah and Gakpo (who I do think could rotate up top anyway) .
Let the fullbacks bomb forward and give the width like they naturally want to do and get the extra body in midfield so we are not as easy to play through. Gives Wirtz the freedom to do his thing also.
7
09 Dec 2025 23:02:29
Tbf Bond, you did call for a diamond.
Diamonds are forever?
Anyway, I hope we don’t celebrate the breakdown of Salah’s relationship with the club.
It’s not a good look and it’s really upsetting for some.
The best thing we can do now is circle the wagons, quieten the noise, and when Salah goes give him a send off worthy of the Egyptian King.
He’s been an integral part of all of our success under Klopp and Slot. He’s brought a lot of joy.
19
09 Dec 2025 23:18:42
Hopefully he can adapt and be an option for the front 2. 4-4-2 Diamond definitely suits us better however I don't see where that leaves Rio right now being an out and out wide winger.
1
09 Dec 2025 23:33:05
100% shameful for club to have done that and not suprising either.
He wanted to stay, 2yr contract offered as fans would have been in uproar letting a star leave. Now team not doing well. Blame salah. Hello £100m from saudi.
If he wanted to leave, he would have left in summer. Could easily have said i've done all i can at liv, time for change in summer. And hello to the biggest payout he ever going to get. But he wanted to stay.
More like hughes thinking let's get some money in now we have him on a contract and team not doing well but at least cash in.
3
09 Dec 2025 23:57:41
I haven’t watched a ton of Inter matches admittedly but I was at the match tonight and Bastoni was one of the worst on the field. Lots of givewaways or kicking clearances straight up in the air, it took him 10-15 seconds to take every free kick if Dom was near him.
He looked very unsure not to mention lightweight. Really silly foul in the box as well. If he doesn’t tug the shirt he probably pushes his headball far out of the box but instead he had no balance trying to hold on to Wirtz. Just one game but I was not impressed.
5
10 Dec 2025 02:08:03
Well said Ron.
3
09 Dec 2025 18:29:37
Hello all,
The rumours that we’ve spoken to Como and Cesc Fabregas are 100% true.
Ta.
28
{Ed025's Note - cheers mate..
9
09 Dec 2025 18:37:37
Cheers Carra. Shame Richard Hughes can’t leave with Slot.
14
09 Dec 2025 18:37:52
Perry?
15
{Ed025's Note - at least he would give you some "Magic Moments" Ron..
14
09 Dec 2025 18:39:06
That would be an interesting turn of events, can't say i've watched much Italian football since the 90's on channel 4 but understand he is doing very well over there.
Cheers 👍.
3
09 Dec 2025 18:41:56
Hey Carra,
Always appreciate your insight. Apologies, and if anyone else can help here but - who is Como.
3
{Ed001's Note - it is a team mate. Very well funded Italian team.}
3
09 Dec 2025 18:42:50
Do you think fabregas would be decent carra? He seems to be doing a good job and what type of football does he play eds? Possession based?
Many thanks.
3
09 Dec 2025 18:43:01
He's done a great job with them, and seems like a likeable bloke.
5
09 Dec 2025 18:45:54
Cheers Carra.
4
09 Dec 2025 18:48:18
Oh that was bad Ed025.
3
{Ed025's Note - if someone leaves the door wide open Barry...i cant be blamed for walking right through it mate.. :)
8
09 Dec 2025 18:55:02
I've literally just read that Fabregas is at Inter tonight. to ' learn his trade'. he says he loves Inters ground . So why has Edwards gone there 🤔🤔.
3
{Ed025's Note - because he is the Chief Executive of LFC?..
10
09 Dec 2025 18:56:13
Thanks Carra.
Alonso won the Bundesliga, and has been getting slated on here by some. Wonder what those same people think of Cesc.
3
09 Dec 2025 18:56:22
I’ve seen a few clips of him after games. He seems very warm towards his players and I hear he’s tactically intelligent.
2
09 Dec 2025 19:03:35
😁 @ Ed025
He might catch a “falling star” too.
1
{Ed025's Note - i think we have had enough falling stars recently Ron..but nice one mate.. :)
3
09 Dec 2025 18:59:44
Thanks carra.
Now I’m sure you and the ED’s and most on here are reading the same question but I’m just after opinions… I can take the rumours and like reading them, but I also would like to know what your gut/ feeling is as to what’s going to happen over the next few weeks?
Or maybe yous think not much will happen🤷🏻♂️
Anyways hope you’re all doning well guys! 👍🏼.
2
{Ed025's Note - it would all be guess work Magsy..
3
09 Dec 2025 19:07:55
£15m potential fee. He's a great up n coming manager. Shows Hughes big contacts in Serie A.
3
09 Dec 2025 19:13:24
Ed1, well funded? Is this the team that is owned by Indonesian billionaire? I remembered reading articles years ago about Italian club that is bought by Indonesian billionaire brothers. They were lower league team before and completely transform after that and now is in Serie A. Those brothers are super wealthy, like the richest family in Indonesia.
1
{Ed001's Note - yes, that's them, the tobacco barons aren't they? Used to be run by Dennis Wise, not sure if he is still there though.}
1
09 Dec 2025 19:13:56
LFC “hold talks” with a manager with no experience bar one and a bit seasons in sole charge of a small but incredibly wealthy Italian club where he has won nothing of note, and never had any pressure to succeed bar avoiding relegation having brought multiple experienced internationals?
Is this a p. take?
10
09 Dec 2025 19:14:18
Hope they can snag Nico Paz 😁.
4
09 Dec 2025 19:07:16
Sorry Ed . that was me being sarcastic regarding Edwards. I guess the 2 of them will be chatting over a Bolognese sarny.
1
{Ed025's Note - you never know Robby mate?..
2
09 Dec 2025 19:30:18
Thanks for clearing that up ED.
1
{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
1
09 Dec 2025 20:28:21
Wise is no longer with Como, I know someone who worked at the club when Wise was there, I have been to their ground a few times and took the sea plane ride. He disagreed strongly with Febregas et al’s shift in policy from developing/ buying in young players to buying old timers whose best days are long gone. This is not the manager LFC want.
3
09 Dec 2025 21:02:36
Carra was this meeting you mentioned the other day if things go well slot could be replaced?
2
09 Dec 2025 21:28:52
Christ I hope not! That would be a bizarre and underwhelming appointment.
3
09 Dec 2025 21:49:21
£15m fee, made up on the spur of the moment. Love it 😁😁.
3
09 Dec 2025 21:51:30
Yes Eddie, they were just working out what percentage ownership of LFC FSG are going to give Cesc to get him to take the manager’s job. The last time a meeting went well for him, he convinced a couple of billionaires to give up a piece of Como 1907.
1
09 Dec 2025 22:36:37
Hopefully they spoke to say, don't call us, we'll call you.
2
09 Dec 2025 22:53:52
Fabregas? To replace which midfielder? Ain’t he a bit old now?
Joking aside we have a manager let’s not be like Man U and other rubbish storm clubs and keep changing managers. He’s got a new guard give him some time to get them to gel . Short term decisions on managers especially when they won the league the prior year I just can’t handle - we are better than that surely?!
2
10 Dec 2025 02:10:53
Lol Shankly, I agree.
One positive is atleast we're looking for a new manager behind the scenes.
Thanks, Carra.
4
10 Dec 2025 06:42:53
He's a bit old Carra. His legs went years ago. Can't see him shifting about as much as he used to.
1
10 Dec 2025 07:20:03
It might also rain next week.
Unless it doesn't.
1
10 Dec 2025 08:53:33
Probably a total stab in the dark, but Eds/ Carra/ Reds, any idea whether bringing Fabregas in would also mean potentially bringing Osian Roberts in as well, or is he Djarum Group's man rather than Cesc's man?
I've met Osian a few times and his knowledge and passion for football is incredible. I'm not passing comment on his skills as a Head of Development but he seems to be doing a good job at Como and his football philosophy would seem to fit Liverpool.
Cheers in advance!
2
09 Dec 2025 16:48:57
[Ben Jacobs] Al-Hilal, NEOM and Al-Qadisah all showing interest in Mo Salah, but caution from within Saudi as to whether the Egyptian striker will genuinely be both available and affordable in January. Liverpool still ideally want Salah to see out his contract.
The controlled leaks begin.
Whops going to end up in check mate?
5
09 Dec 2025 17:34:33
NEOM can spend big, it’s a new city still being built and they want to rival Al Nassr and Riyadh
They took Zeze in the summer too and will spend big
Al-Hilal would be the better option for Salah though as they are more established.
2
09 Dec 2025 18:00:42
This isn't a new "leak". Ben Jacobs is a journalist who specialises in the Saudi league and has been reporting on their interest in Salah for two years.
2
10 Dec 2025 08:17:33
Mr Brightside - See out his contract? I would have thought the club would want to clear the 20 million pounds of salary per year that they're paying him. I mean it was an awful contract to offer in the first place.
3
09 Dec 2025 15:37:50
Hi all,
Salahs camp has today informed Liverpool of a desire to terminate his contract. Naturally, the board will most likely not accept this as it means giving up a large sum of money but as I understand it his career at Liverpool is essentially finished barring any unlikely, dramatic u-turns.
14
09 Dec 2025 15:55:57
Yeah sure Mo, just walk away for free because you want to.
12
09 Dec 2025 16:01:49
WTF is going on at this club, I find it hard to fathom that one of the greatest players in our history is going to leave this way. I'm neither on Slot's nor Salah's side btw, I'm pretty sad about all the foaming at the mouth calling Salah a martyr and a hero trying his best to smoke out Slot and the board, too.
I don't know enough to judge either way, but this is just awful.
25
09 Dec 2025 16:10:08
If that is true, it shows how much he really cares about the club.
16
09 Dec 2025 16:12:57
True PB.
4
09 Dec 2025 16:16:27
I don't believe this one bit to be true. For all involved it'd make absolutely no sense what so ever.
Still, thanks for the info, mate and if it is true there's much more going on than we know.
6
09 Dec 2025 16:20:39
Apprently Chisea has informed slot he ain't going to play for him due to his treatment of Salah, something bigger going on in the background not sure how Slot survives this.
6
09 Dec 2025 16:22:25
Of course that's what they want, he can then walk away, sing for someone else with a massive singing on fee while the club gets nothing. Nice one.
6
09 Dec 2025 16:23:10
Iam sure many clubs and the Saudis will of been informed and Hughes will of encouraged a bid. Personally £20m upwards and his huge 400kpw wages off the books will be good. Semenyo in straight away I hope.
5
09 Dec 2025 16:34:45
Whatever the rights or wrongs of Mo’s outburst I’ve never known this club handle anything so appallingly - that goes for both the club and Mo’s camp!
Surely his outburst must of been brewing prior to 7.30 on Saturday evening regardless of it being fairly well rehearsed and I can’t believe the management couldn’t of nipped a fair bit of this in the bud before another round of big games?
How much all of this has affected the team tonight we’ll know in a few hours I guess.
4
09 Dec 2025 16:35:38
My personal opinion on the matter is that he caught wind of being wrongfully offered around to the Saudis and his agent is acting emotionally in response.
Don’t get it twisted, there is pretty much zero chance that the club agree to terminate his contract, but it’s the intent and communication from Salahs team that’s the most important thing about this info. There’s no pathway back as it stands.
8
09 Dec 2025 16:45:19
Edwards and Hughes have not engineered this for charities sake, or to give Mo a nice send off - this is designed to extract as much as possible from the Saudi's.
They would have in mind also that Mo's form, whilst already poor, is usually terrible following AFCON.
The dust will settle and we'll improve by having Semenyo in the current set up - i reckon it will free up Flo no end.
A temporary drama on the way to bringing their vision to fruition.
6
09 Dec 2025 16:56:20
All those saying Salah wanted to stay? He wanted to stay if everything is on his terms and he gets to pick himself every week!
Just get rid and move on I’m sick of talking about him.
6
{Ed001's Note - so you know exactly what the contract negotiations were about then? Or are you just making up more nonsense in your head out of pure ignorance? Because that is simply not true, it is absolute crap.}
15
09 Dec 2025 16:59:04
Kopite .
He doesn't play chiesa anyway . he doesn't need ro worry about not playing for him.
2
09 Dec 2025 17:38:19
You're sick of talking about him, Sean? you're on every other post for the last two days going on about it.
9
09 Dec 2025 18:43:58
I see you on every single post criticizing Salah since this thing blew up, Sean. It’s either you saying “I agree” or “Salah is a selfish prick, get rid of him. ” Clearly you’re not sick of talking about it, you love talking about it.
6
09 Dec 2025 18:48:18
If you sell a player you have to pay off their contract - so that’s £20m a year for Salah and he has 2 and a half years left. = £50m
Plus loyalty bonuses, agent bonuses.
Terminating his contract costs nothing.
I don’t think this is beyond the bounds of possibility.
It won’t be Salah asking this of the club, it’s his agent - who is just doing his job 🤷♂️.

Sean Dundee. every post you do is about Salah . its us who are sick of you talking about him.
4
09 Dec 2025 23:04:14
Salah doesn't have two and a half years left.
3
09 Dec 2025 23:44:51
Mo's current contract expires at the end of June '27, no? Shade over 18 months.
4
09 Dec 2025 23:50:47
Thanks for your responses guys and yes I guess I walked into that! Lol
I have no idea what Salah’s contract negotiations were Ed I was being sarcastic but I guess there’s always 2 sides to every story.
My guess is, and it’s only a guess because I have no idea, that Salah took exception to being dropped against West Ham and spat his dummy out so the club decided they might be better off getting rid and sounded out the Saudis about a possible sale.
Salah found out and was rightfully annoyed but went about it all in the wrong way by going to the press claiming he was being victimised.
Blame on both sides and a sad end to a Liverpool great but I think he’s burnt his bridges and won’t play for us again.
2
10 Dec 2025 01:05:23
Yeah, sorry lads, still £30m saved if you cancel his contract.
1
10 Dec 2025 09:05:54
I might be wrong but have we not read on here over multiple years and transfer windows that Mo and his agent have been sounding out a move elsewhere constantly.
Like i get why he would be annoyed but is this not another double standard of i can look to move away but don't you dare speak to people on my behalf about moving me on.
The guy is an absolute hero and legend of the club and in no way should things end like this. But if you keep searching for a new club when contracted to LFC because it suits you and your negotiations, surely the club have the right to put the feelers out to see if there is any interest when it suits them?
The equivalent of being married and keeping your tinder account live just in case but then getting annoyed because you matched with your wife's account!
1
{Ed001's Note - not Mo, not at all. He has constantly been clear he is not looking to move, his agent just asks in case someone makes an offer that Mo would not refuse. But Mo has always told him that he is not interested and not looking for a move, his agent does it off his own bat.}

10 Dec 2025 12:14:04
Apologies on my misunderstanding of the situation then Ed.
As i say i hate to see things the way they currently are. Once again things are not well in the background clearly and we will never know the full truth behind it all.
The hope is they can all hug it out and meet at the coffee bar at the AXA to put everything behind them for the sake of what is best for the team. Mo comes back for another stellar season and all is forgotten.
But that is dreamland stuff, so i just hope the best for all parties can be reached and if that means our saviour for many seasons moves then it is all done in a more respectful way, he gets the absolute heroes send off he deserves and we can all get back on track rather than playing out a United style stale mate between management, the hierarchy and our star performer of many years.

09 Dec 2025 10:11:51
Ed01 or ITK's is there any change on our centre half recruitment in January?
Surely we need two. The lack of options in this position has destabilized the season so far.
I know Slot's tactics have been terrible but the lack of options in defence haven't helped at all.
4
{Ed001's Note - change? No, we are still looking for two - Guehi plus a n other.}
9
09 Dec 2025 11:35:42
I've seen Nico Schlotterbeck linked a few times.
3
09 Dec 2025 11:37:16
I really hope we get the two done within the first week of the window.
7
09 Dec 2025 11:50:03
I think we'll sign Joel Ordonez plus either one of Marc Guehi OR Alessandro Bastoni.
Just my opinion.
5
09 Dec 2025 11:56:00
Who are you looking at for the second Center back? I seen Jacquet being linked too.
Do you think we will get Semenyon, Guehi and the 2nd CB all done?
2
{Ed001's Note - Bastoni would be the dream but unlikely, Ordonez seems the likeliest. I doubt we will get everything done, I can't see Guehi getting sorted as Palace will just arse about again.}
8
09 Dec 2025 11:58:52
Is Bastoni a viable option? All the noise I heard on hear was that he wouldn’t want to leave Italy. I’ve not been keeping up with things on here recently, due to all the negativity, so has anything changed?
3
{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any change, but I am hoping as we have been looking at him so hard. Fingers crossed he has given an indication he is looking to move out of Italy now.}
5
09 Dec 2025 12:32:39
Blimey. the holy grail for me would be getting Bastoni. but being Italian, Slot would probably leave him on the bench or have him mopping floors. let's get Guehi done, then see who else we get.
5
09 Dec 2025 13:14:05
Hopefully Bastoni would get some starts unlike our other Italian.
3
09 Dec 2025 13:49:22
Leoni is out injured @Mcgov 😉.
5
09 Dec 2025 13:52:40
I wanted Bastoni before the season started, he's a top top CB but would he want to come to this mess and play for this coach who hasn't got a clue? I doubt it. Bastoni could go to any team probably.
3
09 Dec 2025 14:08:43
I worry that Bastoni signing would only further deplete my COVID stockpile. Dire straits right now.
2
09 Dec 2025 14:56:46
When I think of Bastoni, my first thought is absolutely no chance -but I said the same about Wirtz and Isak, and we still managed to get them. Never say never. He’d be a fantastic signing.
6
09 Dec 2025 15:22:17
Guehi plays lcb and Ordonoz rcb. Both could be had for £65m combined.
2
09 Dec 2025 15:29:43
Leoni done his acl, I can see us signing no one it’s the Liverpool way.
0
09 Dec 2025 15:40:51
We are linked with Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo £38M.
2
09 Dec 2025 17:35:33
Queen we sign no one? Funny take that.
3
10 Dec 2025 02:13:21
Queen, hows it the Liverpool way?
0
08 Dec 2025 23:05:00
Liverpool want Salah gone to fund winter admissions and news breaking that Salahs outburst is largely due to his agent finding out the club have been offering him to Saudi behind his back!
9
{Ed001's Note - isn't that exactly what I have been telling you all?}
31
08 Dec 2025 23:28:34
Oh well that’s ok then. Salah is well within his rights to whinge to the press, putting the team, manager and club under unnecessary pressure when we are already on our worst run since the 50s and he’s on his worst run since he signed for us.
What a stand up guy he his.
If this is true Downey all I can say is that Salah has proven that the club had already made the right decision. The sooner he’s gone the better for me he’s burned his bridges and needs to go so we can move forward with the squad rebuild.
17
08 Dec 2025 23:29:49
It seems people don’t want to believe that the club is engineering his exit/ sale and he’s raging about it.
17
08 Dec 2025 23:47:01
But Salah doesn't have to go to Saudi. He signed a two year contract earlier this year.
16
09 Dec 2025 00:11:25
Sean Dundee Not a good idea to be off your meds without your doctors approval. You don't think Salah has a right to be upset that he was promised one thing 6 months ago only for him to find out the club are doing the exact opposite behind his back?! The mans arguably a tp 5 all time Liverpool legend, if its true that Liverpool have been flogging him around without first talking to him its the absolute height of disrespect. So many fans chat rubbish about "the Liverpool way" when it comes to respecting the club and standing behind the manager. What about he players, what about club legends? Does Mo not deserve to be treated with respect?
If this is true he absolutely 100% had the right to say what he said.
23
09 Dec 2025 00:36:39
True Rigsby but he's not exactly coming across as a "Happy to sit on the bench if I have to and pocket my 400K a week" kind of guy.
11
09 Dec 2025 00:52:05
A transient employee.
13
09 Dec 2025 01:19:38
Well we couldn't sell Trent n Konate so we're just going to change our tune n demand Salah be banished, funny that.
10
09 Dec 2025 02:57:50
Football is a business and players are assets.
If Liverpool get rid of Salah in July 25, they get £0?
If Liverpool get rid of Salah in Jan or Jul 26, they get £50m+
If Salah decides to stay at Liverpool then he keeps the subs bench warm and fades away out of the spotlight.
It’s not about emotions, or legends, it’s about money.
15
09 Dec 2025 03:30:31
Is this the same agent that had been hawking Salah around to Real Madrid and Barcelona, now its a problem. double standards?
18
09 Dec 2025 05:37:43
Bazzinga that never happened though did it as Salah always wanted to stay at Liverpool so nice lie. As for Sean Dundee you’re okay with Slot and Hughes double power trip pushing players out. Utter fool you are.
13
09 Dec 2025 06:38:45
Absolutely right Ron. Ed002 told us for years how Salahs agent was looking to get Madrid/ Barca interested. Can't have it both ways.
10
{Ed001's Note - actually I have explained that Salah didn't want to leave against advice but he was being hawked round just in case any of them made an offer that his lawyer/agent could use to tempt him to move. The guy was just doing his job, but that doesn't mean Salah was looking to leave. He never was and never entertained any other offers while his contract was running down either.}
22
09 Dec 2025 07:04:26
I’m just curious to know if people would still think the same if Salah hadn’t said anything this weekend.
If the news broke that the club had been working to get him out the door would the reaction still be - ah well, see you later?
I’m just not entirely sure why the club, or potentially Hughes and co, are necessarily getting a free pass re their behaviour but Salah is getting hung out to dry for his.
10
09 Dec 2025 07:06:15
If I can share my thoughts, Salah like Trent should have kept his opinions out of the press. I would be annoyed if a player was happy to warm the bench every week but please keep it in the dressing room.
Yes it is business and Liverpool have done the right thing, we don’t lose him for nothing, we signed him up for two years to try and get some money in a transfer in January or July 26.
Makes sense but he should not be speaking to the press, it has made Liverpool the centre of attention rather than allowing us to find the winning formula on the pitch again.
6
{Ed001's Note - Liverpool have not done the right thing, they have treated a human being like a piece crap.}
24
09 Dec 2025 07:11:37
Ed1, I don't think most of the posters here ever bothered to read anything you've explained. Most of them just see posts bashing Salah and decide to join the trend, because bashing Salah is the thing to do at the moment. I do wonder how many posts you've had to delete since this Salah situation blew up.
I also admire how patiently you explain everything you know about the situation. No wonder the great Ed2 came up with one of the best replies ever: “RTFP. ”.
18
{Ed001's Note - I really miss him even more right about now that is for sure!}
18
09 Dec 2025 07:35:15
JLDA, I meant from the club's perspective. The OP said Liverpool wants to get rid of Salah.
They didn't want to get rid of him earlier in the year but things could well have changed since.
I have no idea what is going on though.
2
09 Dec 2025 07:41:42
I'm sorry, Kwhizz. If I remember correctly, fans were bashing Trent every day for being quiet about his contract situation. Every day there were posts here bashing him, saying he should say something because "he owes fans some clarity. " Why do we easily forget about that? Maybe it's because it doesn't suit your narrative.
10
09 Dec 2025 08:39:19
To be fair to Salah, he has had to watch Konate being picked game after game, costing us game after game, not so discreetly wanting Madrid or PSG, personally he either should never of got the contract offer or should be played as a central striker, our slow, boring play is never going to suit him after years of fast counter pressing attacks, the manager has brought this on with his inability to adapt his tactics and get the best out of squad which would be the envy of most teams in the world.
4
09 Dec 2025 08:42:57
Who plays right wing if we sell Mo?
Not Szob surely, he needs to be in centre.
Wirtz?
Semenyo mostly plays left
Ekitike?
3
09 Dec 2025 08:45:12
The games gone, and people wonder why players run their contract down now. Look I get it, money rules the game but still as frustrating as it is that Mo aired his dirty laundry, you would like to hope our club would treat people better, especially people who've given so much to the club and will go down as one of our greats regardless how it ends up.
Also the same people who slate people who go to city and Chelsea over the years and earn a fortune to sit on the bench will be the same people who slate Mo for not being happy about it.
I'm disappointed with the club to be honest, disappointed with Mo too but I also remember reading that this stuff happens quite regularly. So while we want players to have undivided loyalty to our club, how can we expect them to do so as the club clearly sees them as a commodity.
Anyway, I'm disillusioned with the whole thing at the mo. So I'll support the team every time on the pitch as the only way I know how. come on you Redmen! Need a big performance tonight.
7
09 Dec 2025 09:02:21
The club made the player, the player grafted for his part and added a tremendous contribution to the team (s) across his tenure.
Don’t now spoil that graft by slating the very entity that got you to where you are, fall out of fashion with dignity and respect for in every resources lifetime (no matter what your role) there will come a point where a new guard is required.
Truth is, whilst a grader and a massive contributor, the player got more from the club than the reverse.
Look at our Sir Kenny and learn from how to really conduct yourself Mo it will help with the continued maturity.
6
09 Dec 2025 09:03:01
I fail to see the difference between the club acting in their interests and trying to see who would be interested in buying Salah given his form has fallen off a cliff this season and Salah’s lawyer hawking him around to see if he could get him a move. Both are acting in the interests of their employee. Difference is the club don’t rock up to the press and moan about it to the world. However, Ed01 has made me think more about Salah’s point of view.
if it is true he knows he’s being sold his reaction does show how much he loves the club as he’s absolutely gutted he’s not going to be here much longer and he did deserve to be dealt with differently given he is a legend and all he has done for our club. However, if you believe the club who have said they weren’t looking to sell him and it’s all about him being on the bench which he deserves then I have no sympathy for him. Interesting one.
7
09 Dec 2025 09:33:41
It’s clear the club gave him a new contract so they could cash in on him rather than have him leave on a free. Very good business but a little dubious morally.
Having said that, players often have the club over a barrel by leaving on a free if they are not happy with the contract. Mo did this himself judging by the length of his negotiations. Good business by Mo’s agent but a little dubious morally.
If Mo had kept up his previous form this season it is likely none of this would even have arisen. If you play crap, the club are going to cash in on their asset.
5
09 Dec 2025 09:47:53
Wdw if its all about money, then why did Liverpool allow 2 players ( Tent n now konate) who were worth 50mill plus to run their contracts down, that doesn't make sense.
2
09 Dec 2025 10:20:05
WarMachine - Salah, rightly or wrongly, spilled his thoughts and feelings in the mixed zone.
Meanwhile the suits at the club activated the local journos to build a negative narrative and in some cases pure hit pieces on him. Classy stuff.
4
09 Dec 2025 10:36:26
I don't know Darwin, i honestly think last seasons brilliance earned and justified him getting a new contract. Then this season, his form has dropped massively. Form i might add that had 90 percent of the posters on here wanting exactly what has happened, Salah out of the side. Now Salah is out of the side? Outrage.
War Machine makes the good point that what the club have done is no different to what Salahs agent according to Ed002 has done for the last 8 years. Now that must be true because Ed002 was never corrected on it. Just a sad situation. My favourite player of the last 10 years. Hopefully it can be sorted.
2
09 Dec 2025 10:50:27
@Darwin ‘football and morality’ are becoming / have become mutually exclusive. Infantino gave Trump a peace award on behalf of football at a World Cup draw less than a mile away from the White House. The game has gone to hell.
3
09 Dec 2025 11:50:04
Agree WDW, I remember enjoying the sport a lot more when we had no awareness of what was happening behind the scenes and all the players’ contracts and disputes, all the business dealings and transfer sagas. All these back stories take away from being able to complain about how crap we sometimes play :)
1
09 Dec 2025 12:15:24
The thing is, I don't think the club even told Salah that he was unwanted or that they wanted to sell him. Inferring his press statement, all communication between him and the club suddenly stopped and he found out through other means that they have been trying to sell him behind his back instead dif being upfront with him about it.
The club has acted poorly. If they didn't want him then just tell him to his face instead of sneaking around behind his back.
8
{Ed001's Note - spot on.}
5
09 Dec 2025 12:47:24
I preferred it when desperate scousewives was the only drama on this page.
6
09 Dec 2025 13:11:31
I have to admit that the club have acted so poorly. Salah speaking out is not ideal but think how you would react if your employer done the same thing. The club and those supposedly running it have gone down in my estimation big time.
3
09 Dec 2025 13:14:46
Someone said it is not the Liverpool way over MO. This is not the same Liverpool it is now all about maximising finance and all players are commodities and MO and all the other players need to understand that they want the big wages this is a condition of them wages.
Liverpool got the fingers burnt over Trent and will try never to have them burnt again. So out burst like MO did not do him any good if they want him out he will be going end of thanks to Edwards and Hughes the new Liverpool.
3
09 Dec 2025 13:32:05
Still don’t think he should have spoke to the press as he did Ed01. Everything should have been more dignified than it has been. The club looks awful at the moment. Hopefully things can only get better.
2
09 Dec 2025 14:06:05
Stroms; The entire game is all about money. Once it became that, it'll never return to NOT being about it.
3
09 Dec 2025 14:06:14
Genuinely question, if a club decides they want to move a player on is it normal practice to find out if there's interest first then let the player know what's happening based on this interest or is the player told the club want to move the player on before seeing what actual interest there may be in him?
1
{Ed001's Note - usually the player is informed, it gives them time to deal with things like kids being at school etc and also a chance for their agent to find a move that suits them.}
4
09 Dec 2025 14:11:35
Dracred: that is the best synopsis of the current situation I have read yet. Simple and correct in every way. There surely will be questions asked of E&H and Slot about allowing this to happen in such a manner. In 20 years time nobody will remember those 3. But they'll forever remember Mo Salah.
5
09 Dec 2025 15:44:57
It’s all rather sad that it has come to this. I don’t like that Salah spoke publicly because from an aesthetics perspective he does only seem to do media when he is angling for something, having said that if hughes, Edward’s or slot are moving mad in the background and indeed trying to force him out of the club to generate income only months after a renewal then serious questions need to be had because that kinda rubbish impacts the whole squad in the long term.
For a player of Salah’s stature in the club surely there was a more respectful and controlled way to manage this.
2
09 Dec 2025 16:18:28
Isnt that a risk for the club Ed that you could be stuck with a sulking player if it turns out there is no interest in him?
1
{Ed001's Note - most of the time, players wanted out are not in the team anyway, but those that are will usually have an incentive to try harder to get a better team and deal when they move.}
2
08 Dec 2025 22:21:52
David ornstein has reported that LFC insiders have said they want Salah to stay until end of his contract, not sure if anyone can confirm this? In other news gakpo and chiesa out of tomorrows game maybe this is a chance to start Hugo and isak together?
4
08 Dec 2025 22:50:30
Ornstein is an FSG guy. Maybe its to attempt to keep some value on him. There will be interest and they will want to get as much as possible.
9
08 Dec 2025 22:55:46
Two up front and midfield 4 as a diamond might be worth a try.
8
08 Dec 2025 23:18:38
Who is “they” who want Salah to stay. It won’t be FSG, they don’t interfere. Edwards and Hughes make those decisions in consultation with Slot.
I don’t think Salah “really” wants to stay and I think this is a natural break for him to leave.
Good luck to him. He should have kept it all in the dressing room, what’s done is done. Legend and always welcome at Anfield - the Egyptian King.
7
08 Dec 2025 23:22:46
Spoon fed straight from the furry goblet of FSG. May the game of chess begin.
This is the touch paper for a bidding war between the Saudi's and San Diego in the MLS.
100M anyone?
7
09 Dec 2025 05:39:03
Ron… the Ed’s have said Salah wants to stay numerous times which is why he’s had an outburst at Slot and his dictator Richard Bournemouth Hughes… if anyone needs to go it’s them two.
5
09 Dec 2025 09:07:10
Frode - that’s not going to happen.
As for what the Eds have said, I am aware thanks.
No-one really knows what Salah wants except for Salah. What he says and what he wants are not necessarily the same thing.
I try not to invest too much emotion into players. Like I said, they all leave, it doesn’t matter how they leave.
5
09 Dec 2025 09:07:44
What is interesting though is that many of those fans that seriously criticised our club for “letting Trent run down his contract to go for free” would criticise the club now for now for extending a contract and cashing in if the players contribution wavers.
I love the guy for the “part” he has played but I hate the approach he is taking now it is undignified, immature and disrespectful.
4
09 Dec 2025 10:52:05
OP, sounds like a publicity offensive by the club. Let’s see what happens when the offers arrive in January.
2
09 Dec 2025 11:09:12
Ron, I must say over the last few weeks I've really been impressed with your opinions and posts and they way you deliver your thoughts. I can't even remember whether I agree with them or not but regardless, very well put.
4
08 Dec 2025 21:03:48
Has anyone seen Guillem Balague's piece on the BBC website. Really doesn't look good for Xabi Alonso. Apparently Carlo Ancelotti warned him of what he would come up against. Could this be our opportunity?
4
08 Dec 2025 21:10:21
I did and timing could be perfect but I think I read that if he were to get sacked he'd want a break.
I did have a little chuckle at some of his quotes about struggling with a low block. I've heard that phrase so much over the last 3 months, I think whoever he hire next (assuming Slot does leave) needs to be banned from saying it!
7
08 Dec 2025 21:13:18
Opportunity for what? Massive punt to take him. If he had not played for LFC, would we really want him?
Stick with Slot, a rare title-winning manager. He has cash in the bank. If he doesn’t turn the team around, then so be it. But last season was no fluke - this season is ghastly, and he has to own that, but the transition was always going to bite.
16
08 Dec 2025 21:20:06
Things look to be coming together, although according to the eds, he'd want the rest of the season off, so we'd be stuck with Slop-py football for another 6 months.
0
{Ed001's Note - what eds said that? I never. I have no idea what he will do if he gets the push.}
10
08 Dec 2025 21:23:19
Read it too. Takeaway is that Xabi won't be available until the summer.
2
08 Dec 2025 21:38:06
I belueve he is the man for the job, long term. He has a connection and an understanding of Liverpool FC, he has the intelligence, the man management skills, the footballing brain and he speaks sense.
Make this happen Hughes and co.
2
08 Dec 2025 21:57:24
Xabi had a connection and an understanding of Madrid too.
10
08 Dec 2025 22:00:53
He isn't a novice, he won the title in Germany and nearly went unbeaten for the season. Granted the German league isn't the best but Slot came from the Netherlands which is also not the strongest. Not many managers survive what is going on and if Slot does and gets us winning again fair play.
But we would be naive not explore our options when a manager we clearly wanted becomes available, similar to when Klopp became available.
4
08 Dec 2025 22:21:28
Slot is one up on Alonso as he’s won the league in Holland and in England.
Xabi, so far, is a one season wonder. Not quite on the same level as Ranieri.
He might be the man for the job, he might be superb, but he’s a risk.
6
08 Dec 2025 22:27:55
He's who I want if Slot leaves, and I don't hold what's happening at Madrid as too much of a negative. From what I've seen the players aren't happy about having to work hard.
4
08 Dec 2025 23:04:47
Ron, you might believe Alonso is a risk, but I think keeping Slot gives us a risk of relegation. I honest don’t think you actually watch the games cause even a blind man can see we are getting worse under Slot. There is no improvement and he has to go.
6
08 Dec 2025 23:20:58
If he comes it makes sense in some respects to wait until Summer.
1) the players had a crap pre-season marred by tragedy, you never get that training time back until the summer.
2) Slot needs to own this season and also the continuing in-fighting needs to be sorted. Some players need to go.
4
09 Dec 2025 00:43:59
If Alonso were to become available Ed001 would that be your choice or do you have someone else in mind?
0
{Ed001's Note - in an ideal world, Enrique would be the first choice.}

Just to say, the players will all have a cheap pre-season next year with the Infantino and Trump comedy show.

Thanks Bobby Banana, if you think we’re at risk of relegation (we’re 3 points off top 4) then that tells me all I need to know.

‘Cheap pre-season’ - not sure what that means. I meant to say a ‘short pre-season’.

Club Brugge have sacked Nicky Hayen he's a young top coach. He's done a fantastic job with Club Brugge especially in the UCL despite this decision
Question for Ed001/ ITKs?
Would he be a potential interim option for LFC?

{Ed001's Note - no idea, sorry, don't know anything about him one way or the other.}

Presumably he’s not that great if he’s been sacked?!

I’d rather a Club Brugge reject at this stage.
