I know people have already thanked Ed002 for his knowledge n patience on this site for the transfer news . but I'd just like add my 2pence worth. with all the click bait out there some fans screaming for this signing etc. it's great to come on here n read what Ed002 says so we can just all calm down a bit . he tells were interest is and when there is no interest . I only really listen to him esp over transfers. so again thanks Ed.
{Ed002's Note - Post of the day.}
1.) 31 Aug 2024 13:54:02
Well said. Thanks to all the Ed’s .
2.) 31 Aug 2024 14:37:57
Yes I totally agree with this. I sometimes read and listen to things that give me a chuckle knowing from edd 2 that's it's nonsense.
3.) 31 Aug 2024 22:21:58
You say that Stevie but when my flowers turned up the arrangement was frankly amateurish and my chimney sounds like it’s still got a few jackdaws nesting in it. Can 25 come out of retirement for some cash in hand work?
Honestly I’m not impressed.
Have to say though this is not Ed002’s first ro-deo and it shows. Need to get the florists and sweeps up to speed for January ??.
4.) 31 Aug 2024 23:14:07
Absolutely agree with this. The best thing by miles is that the information is factual - no speculation, no assumptions, just an up to date summary of what’s actually happening or not. For me, from a Liverpool perspective, it’s the only place that is consistently reliable.

Ed01 great match review, I thought we were very good first half. once we went 3 nil up we definitely took our foot off the gas, but with the champions league game on Wednesday that's understandable. The 2 players who have been particularly good this year have been Grav n Konate.
Do u think Slot has given them more confidence n created a style for them to excel in, also trent who i've always thought could be a better defender, seems to actually play better defensively this year. Anyway 3pts all good ATM.
{Ed001's Note - thank you.
The set up is much better, much more solid defensively, and Gravenberch is in a position which fully suits him. Konate always just struggled to stay fit, so far this season that has not been an issue. As for Trent, he has asked to be given more defensive responsibility and for Slot to challenge him to improve on that. He has always looked to improve on what he has.}
1.) 24 Sep 2024 17:41:09
West Ham in cup lad.
2.) 24 Sep 2024 19:07:44
Last Wednesday he's referencing.
3.) 24 Sep 2024 19:09:21
Good to hear Ed001 about Trent wanting to improve and asking for slot to actively work on his defensive game. Shows great attitude to go along with his talent. I so hope we tie him down as he is a joy to watch and a local lad.
{Ed001's Note - he has an excellent attitude, as I have been pointing out for years. That was why he got the chance initially even though it was a position he had never played before.}
4.) 24 Sep 2024 20:21:12
Edd001 what is happening with these contracts? Any word on anything? Absolutely ridiculous you've to read about Madrid etc like wtf is keeping those men above offering them 3 cin.
{Ed001's Note - I have not heard anything but I have been too busy to find out anything.}
5.) 24 Sep 2024 21:05:11
Cheers Ed01 that's good to know that's Trent has asked for more responsibility, I thought last year, he seemed to be a bit out of position with the inverted style like he wasn't sure whether to go inside or stay n was caught in two minds but his defending has improved a lot this year . long may it continue.
{Ed001's Note - he was learning a new role and it had teething troubles. Hopefully Slot will iron all those out.}
6.) 25 Sep 2024 07:21:25
Don't know if it my imagination but last 2 seasons trent seemed to bulk up quite a lot and quite suddenly, seemed to end the quadruple attempt year a skinnyish lad and came back start of following season a tank! Don't think it done him any favours as he seemed v slow to turn and twist from a defensive point of view. Seems this season to have 'slimed' down a bit from muscle point of view and he all the better for it. Again it only something that I've think I've noticed maybe not right.
7.) 25 Sep 2024 09:44:33
"As for Trent, he has asked to be given more defensive responsibility and for Slot to challenge him to improve on that".
Now that's a top man, right there. Never resting on his laurels. Never settling. Elite mentality.
8.) 25 Sep 2024 09:45:32
Contd.
Really proud our our Trent.
9.) 25 Sep 2024 10:57:19
One difference is klopp used to have Trent come back slowly when we last the ball incase we won it back again whereas slot has everybody busting a gut to get back and get that defensive shape. Remember last season we conceded first every game now we have only one all season.
10.) 25 Sep 2024 16:52:31
More rest time and less training under Slot, including not travelling down the night before games. It will be interesting to see the effect this has, especially since the money men at the pinnacle of the game are organising more and more football, which could ultimately decrease quality due to a loss of energy/ passion from the players.
11.) 25 Sep 2024 11:11:16
Funny things about Trent because I remember Ed25 saying he got attitude problems and is becoming some sort of a diva. Not coming after you Ed25, just banter for fun.
{Ed025's Note - i think like most young guys who have that notoriety and are earning that much cash he can be a bit of a diva mfahmee, but i met him when we we were both doing a bit for the Whitechapel project a few months ago mate and he come across as a really nice guy actually, so what do i know?..
14 Sep 2024 23:27:30
Any chance the premier league can let us play at 12.30 from now on. I don't like these normal 3pm Saturday kick offs.
1.) 15 Sep 2024 08:03:46
Love it. Needed a laugh after yesterday's performance.
21 Aug 2024 23:15:53
Just watched Rafa on the overlap. Great to watch. he was talking about a lot of things, how meagre his transfer money was, Alonso who had a deal with Arsenal done but he had to play a champs league qualifier (he didn't want to play) etc . well. worth a watch. I loved Rafa when he was manager of us, always had our back, I know some people don't see things that way but I thought he was great for us.
1.) 22 Aug 2024 01:24:33
Overall he was a great man who loved the city, fostered a connection with the fanbase and did a lot for Liverpool, as a coach he had serious flaws though, he made some seriously poor buys given the budget he was handed (granted he also got us torres/ xabi and had deals in hand for villa, cristiano and silva etc. ), tactically very rigid and negative and the way he would alienate and freeze players out held us back.
2.) 22 Aug 2024 02:15:11
Thumbs down for PatrikBurgher’s post.
3.) 22 Aug 2024 05:49:37
Gerard best came when he played on the right. He must have ~16 goals or so. but he refused to play and came back central. He weilded too much power that led us down.
Rafa got us the chapions league and 2nd place finish if I am not wrong.
The press conf when we were top was one of the low lights and we slipped. Cracked under pressure.
Imagine if he had got backing with Silva and Villa from Valencia.
He was good/ decent when he lasted and deserves due credit.
4.) 22 Aug 2024 05:55:21
PB, I think you will find Liverpool were in place to sign Cristiano Ronaldo while Houllier and Phil Thompson were at the club. Man Utd gazumped us.
Unless you mean another Cristiano? In which case, I will shut up.
5.) 22 Aug 2024 06:56:40
Great manager at that time Rafa, seriously handicapped by those above him in the club back then.
6.) 22 Aug 2024 07:56:04
His interview just confirmed that Hick and Gillette screwed the club and Rafa did an amazing job being anywhere bear a league title. It was a sad day when he left because it was obvious he'd just got sick of the owners screwing him and the club.
7.) 22 Aug 2024 08:16:30
Great interview and I loved everything he did at the time. He was clearly hindered by the powers above, I’d recommend reading Brian Reade’s An Epic Swindle which goes into detail the whole Rafa, Hicks and Gillette period. However I’ll never forgive Rafa for wanting to sell Alonso, he was too stubborn in his own creative control at times and that was part of it.
8.) 22 Aug 2024 08:59:59
@SamiKewell
Gerrard also scored some 20 plus goals and fed some 40 times to Fernando Torres playing Centrally. The guy was a champion.
He led us down? What a Tosser.
He single handedly won us the FA cup. Also was instrumental in the CL final. There were clubs and managers lining up to sign him. Jose Mourinho himself tried 3 times at three separate clubs. He carried a bunch of dross for nearly 15 years.
He let us down! My god some people.
And on Rafa. The guy is a bitter. Bottled a 10 point gap in December drawing some 11 games and couldn’t win a Jack rubbish with arguably the greatest midfield at his disposal in Alonso / Mascherano / Gerrard.
He flopped at Inter. Didn’t he?
Imagine if he had gotten the backing! Oh well what Jack arse did he do with Aquilani?
9.) 22 Aug 2024 09:59:26
Def not the hero he’s made out on here to me, albeit respect for what he did for the city. Spent a fortune on far too many average players and no good at buying wingers. When we finally had the players to win the league he made too many weird substitutions and tactical blunders and had a melt down with his Mr Ferguson rant. Maybe too clever for his own good / over complicated things and wasn’t great at building relationships with his players. 6-7/ 10 for me.
10.) 22 Aug 2024 10:02:54
Frode kippers I believe that's Rafas point. In order to freshen squad he had to sell. And Alonso was one of the few that would garner a decent fee. And then there is this myth that Alonso was brilliant for us. He had 2 poor seasons and a couple of really good ones.
11.) 22 Aug 2024 10:56:54
He won us the CL when were not even the best side in Liverpool ?.
12.) 22 Aug 2024 11:10:22
I have said it before, and I will say it again. The hate Gerrard gets on here is completely bizarre and downright hilarious. He was by far our best player for a good 15 years when we were not even close to being good enough, and the guy single-handedly kept us relevant for a long time. I don't know him personally and I think that impacts the view some have of him here, but as a footballer you can't question him. If he was not so great, not every team in world football would want him at some point or the other. In my opinion, he is still the most complete midfielder PL has ever seen.
13.) 22 Aug 2024 11:29:26
The sheer disrespect. Guy put us back on the map after 15 years of mediocrity, and he did it with Djimi Traore, Harry Kewell and Vladimir Smicer.
I regret massively that the club didn’t back him more when he was in charge, as Dani Alves, David Villa and David Silva would’ve more than made up for selling Alonso. I also wish he’d stayed on after that poor 09/ 10 season. If he’d stuck it out through the takeover and subsequently been given the money that Dalglish and Comolli spurned, we’d have been back competing for titles again by 2011/ 12. He’s have gone for guys like Juan Mata and Santi Cazorla instead of Charlie Adam and Stuart Downing.
14.) 22 Aug 2024 11:37:08
Was fun to see how enthralled the others were with every word Rafa was saying - even if he was jumping around topics like a madman. He couldn't finish a story haha.
You can't fault Rafa's for his heart. An LFC legend. The ownership situation clearly forced him to get involved in things that were probably ideally suited to him. It does show you that good football structures are vital for belt and bracing the risk taking. You can't have the coach/ manager with no understanding of finances playing about with a home-made own spreadsheet in 2024.
15.) 22 Aug 2024 11:38:52
Rafa said Alonso had already had an agreement with Arsenal done ( think it was Alonso choice to leave ) and he refused to play a champs league qualifier but Rafa made him play because masch lucas n Gerrard weren't available. iv always thought like most people that Rafa wanted him out.
16.) 22 Aug 2024 12:40:00
Fafa had his issues and that's fair. On the other hand, his overall record as a manager is severely underrated, IMO.
17.) 22 Aug 2024 12:49:57
Very interesting reguarding alonso. It's his word but that's interesting. Players have loyalty to only themselves. Club will always remain bigger.
18.) 22 Aug 2024 19:39:21
Aqualani what an absolute joke signing……as for gerrard he was superb and atleast in the top 5 of all time greats for the club.
19.) 22 Aug 2024 22:33:51
With Rafa I remember dreaming having this dream team:
Villa + Torres, Silva/ Mata + Xabi + Mascherano + Gerrard, Aurelio + Agger + Carragher + Arbeloa, Reina.
05 Jul 2024 11:46:44
Just seen the press conference with Slot n Hughes, both seem assured in what they were saying. no big claims just knowing what they've got to do. I'm looking forward to this season to see how it all goes . im pretty confident it'll be good .
1.) 05 Jul 2024 12:39:41
He did speak very well.
Interesting to hear him say that he doesn’t want people to think he plays a 433 or 4231 in possession because the players will have lots of freedom.
When we don’t have possession that’s when there is formation and we are aggressive to get the ball back.
2.) 05 Jul 2024 12:47:38
Both came across really well and comfortable in their new roles.
Arne even had a little dig at his system being described as 4231. I enjoyed that.
3.) 05 Jul 2024 14:59:49
Both came across well but why did the reporters keep asking him about Klopp. He’s gone, we need to forget about him. Slot is his own man.
4.) 05 Jul 2024 15:25:05
Same FPF. Especially the cheeky coaching badge line. All the YouTube tactical analysts and expert ex-pro pundits said it was a 4-2-3-1. And yet the closest explanation to match how Slot describes it himself I’ve seen was actually a Feyenoord fan who I had a conversation with on Facebook! Last time I trust “experts”. Proof that sometimes fans actually do know better than ex-players.
19 Jun 2024 16:32:10
Just seen our new manager interview on Liverpool tv then. he came across really well. looking forward to the coming season. top4 n a good chance in the cups will do me this season . anything else a real. bonus.
1.) 19 Jun 2024 17:20:55
Seen a few fans say they would be happy with top 4 next season.
I'd imagine the clubs and players aim next season is a title challenge and the minimum expectation a top 4 finish.
I'd imagine City and Arsenals will be the same.
Utd, Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and villas aim will be to finish top 4.
Regardless of the new coach we should be setting our expectations above them.
2.) 19 Jun 2024 17:36:53
Just watching it now, he comes across really well looking forward to seeing what he does.
3.) 19 Jun 2024 18:22:45
Jk23.City n Arsenal have finished last 2 seasons higher than us. we got a few manager n hopefully some new players . take time to gel. so Top 4 is where I think we will be . don't get me wrong I'd love the quadruple.
4.) 19 Jun 2024 18:34:28
I have no control over my expectations. I can't help but see at least two better sides than us.
5.) 19 Jun 2024 19:47:59
The aim is to win the league and CL. If we came let’s say 3rd and didn’t win anything I’d be having serious doubts about Slot. We have a squad full of top players and a summer to add to it. Let’s not act like it’s a squad needing an overhaul and not ready to win like when Klopp took over. Please can we as a fanbase not fall into this top 4 is an achievement nonsense.
6.) 19 Jun 2024 20:17:10
I also can't seem to control my expectations. We will win the quadruple next season.
7.) 19 Jun 2024 20:46:28
There's 2 better teams at the euros than England but I'd imagine they still think they have a chance of winning it.
I can imagine the contract negotiations with Trent now. Don't go to Real. Stay here and compete for a top 4 finish lads.
I'm not saying we'll win it but we should be aiming to.
8.) 19 Jun 2024 21:04:15
I expect you're too young to remember the last time we did it, ArAy.
9.) 19 Jun 2024 21:34:35
Oh we can win it, JK. But I don't expect us to. We should aim to win it but I don't expect us to win it.
My expectations are based on my experiences but they could change in a few months time.
Let's hope my expectations are not lowered ?.
10.) 19 Jun 2024 22:19:01
Should we really ever expect to win the league? or expect to win a cup?
I feel like that is reserved for a club like Real madrid, PSG, Bayern.
11.) 19 Jun 2024 22:57:27
Rigsby, I'm 63. And no, I don't remember the last time we did it. Nor have I ever been to Anfield till date. Got something to say about that too?
I expect you'll now have some mercy on us and save us your constant repetitive drivel disguised as meaningful football commentary. Your carpet bombing the page with the same things over and over again reminds me of Harry. But he had better football knowledge.
12.) 19 Jun 2024 23:27:57
Arsenal and City make proper investments in the squad, Liverpool attempt to breed promising talent. Top 4 is what I expect but we shouldn’t be happy about it. Greater investment is needed to get closer to the talent.
13.) 20 Jun 2024 06:58:50
Yet Arteta has won just the 1 FA cup in his 5 seasons there, by which point Klopp had won Champs League and EPL with us just buying “potential”.
One thing that winds me up is how Arsenal/ Arteta don’t called out for a what a throw away transfer policy they’ve had since he came in. It also took him far too long to realise what a talent his predecessor had signed in Saliba. Below is an update from Ed2 on Arsenal page about players who are available, look at the sheer volume of players signed by Arteta already no longer required. P@ss pooor transfer approach IMO:
Aaron Ramsdale (G) Ramsdale is stuck rather and needs to figure out his future with Arsenal. Wolves are very concerned about losing Sa and are keen to take Ramsdale to replace him but have other options. Milan are the same with Maignan. Newcastle may offer a good solution that will be of interest to the player.
Karl Hein (G) Free Agent in the summer.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (RB) Arsenal have been open to listening to offers for the player but would prefer a new contract else are seeking €35M which saw Inter step back. Could return and look to an exchange plus cash for Denzil Dumfries. Interest of Bayern Munich has been dropped.
Kieran Tierney (LB) Real Sociedad offer another loan option with an obligation to buy this time. Celtic may offer an option.
Nuno Tavares (LB) Will look for a new home in the Summer. Nottingham Forest not interested in taking up the option. Marseille spoke with Arsenal.
Aleksandr Zinchenko (LB) Arsenal will keep him unless they can get a good fee, but he is available and Arsenal have been looking at replacements. Newcastle offer a wildcard option.
William Saliba (CB) Real Madrid have scouted Saliba and spoken with his agent. But he is not first choice for them and likely further down the list of options. The player has always said he would like to move to PSG on day, but for now he stays.
Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) Arsenal rejected an approach from Juventus and another from Al-Ittihad last summer. I am not aware of any recent approaches. He will stay.
Jakub Kiwior (CB/ LB) Could be priced out of a move to Milan who may look to a loan to buy or to Napoli. Arsenal may block any move and look to giving assurances.
Cedric Soares (CB/ RB) No obvious future and could look elsewhere for opportunities when he becomes a Free Agent in the Summer. Besiktas and Villareal offer options. Has already left.
Mohammed Elneny (DM) Free Agent in the summer. Has left.
Thomas Partey (DM) Galatasaray and Fenerbahce have asked after his availability. Juventus interest has moved on. Middle East may be an option but the player is insistent on staying at Arsenal.
Albert Sambi Lokonga (DM) Arsenal will be open to letting him move on as part of the summer clear out. I am not aware of any approaches to Arsenal although his agents will be looking for options.
Jorginho (CM/ DM) Ahas agreed a further year at Arsenal after being given assurances.
Charlie Patino (CM) Perhaps another loan - again difficult to see where first team opportunities will come from. Agent looking to move him on and has been speaking to clubs in Italy but I am not aware of any interest.
Emile Smith-Rowe (CM) Wants to leave for more game time. Could be offered to Brentford as part of a part exchange deal for Toney. Brighton, Newcastle or Aston Villa may provide options but the player would likely not be interested. West Ham would like a loan to buy. Napoli interest has gone. A summer move seems possible unless Arsenal give him assurances.
Martin Odegaard (AM/ CM) PSG has a declared interest but he is not first choice. Arsenal will want to keep him so he stays.
Fabio Vieira (AM) Marseille and Monaco discussed a loan with Arsenal but Porto may well be interested in buying the player who Arsenal are happy to have move on.
Reiss Nelson (W) No future at Arsenal as anything other than a bit part player. Perhaps a loan to buy somewhere. Brighton may offer an option still if previous interest remains.
Marquinhos (W) A loan to Fluminense will end in December and then the club will consider options, but he will likely be sold in January.
Eddie Nketiah (S) If Arsenal can add Toney or another striker, EN will be allowed to leave. Leicester, Crystal Palace and Wolves may offer options. Brentford may be interested in a part exchange, but I doubt it. Fulham may offer a viable solution. All see the requested fee as too high.
14.) 20 Jun 2024 10:26:05
Big Shaq my guy, tell us how you really feel about Arteta and Arsenal transfer policy, lol. Seriously tho, I do agree with some of what you say and frankly, a lot of Arsenal fans also agree or at least, the ones that comment online.
IMO if Klopp had that many players who are not this good and were about to be offloaded, we would definitely be asking questions about his and the scouting teams transfer acumen. Just like we did with BR cos essentially, his transfer record is identical, IMO.
15.) 20 Jun 2024 22:20:33
ArAy, I'm not claiming to give meaningful football commentary.
I'm just giving my opinions and discussing our team. If you don't like it don't read or reply, it doesn't matter to me or anyone else.
I wouldn't call your expectation of us winning the quadruple as drivel and I replied with a jokey post about us never having done it before. I didn't mean to upset you but I genuinely don't expect us to win the League.
04 Nov 2024 11:41:49
Can't blame Hughes for the VVD Salah n Trent not signing new deals . that should have been sorted, one way or another long before he got the job. that's down to the previous regime.
04 Nov 2024 11:41:49
Can't blame Hughes for the VVD Salah n Trent not signing new deals . that should have been sorted, one way or another long before he got the job. that's down to the previous regime.
31 Oct 2024 09:30:14
I'm not too fussed about Trent leaving (if he does ) only thing I'm bothered about is the millions we won't get in with his transfer fee. very bad management or naivety on the boards part .
25 Oct 2024 10:37:44
Ed002, thanks for the info.
24 Oct 2024 09:27:04
Ed002 what are the pro's and cons of buying or being a partner in multi clubs, for both the owners and fans . there seems to be only a few who seem to run it well. ie city group, red bull.
{Ed002's Note - It allows the owners to have players come through the other clubs via loans, or in the case of the City Football Group, through buying and selling. Sometimes, when it doesn't work out a player can be given a loan to a partner side to see if there is a chance of improvement (e.g. Darío Sarmiento). Sometines a club may send a player on loan for game time (e.g. Andrey Santos). So for the playing staff there are benefits. For owners, the most significant benefit is in the potential profit (e.g. Red Bull Salzburg who largely came from nowhere 20 years ago). On the downside, the success of Red Bull Salzburg has resulted in them having to drop the "Red Bull" when playing in international competitions. There is also scrutiny of all transfers between related clubs.}
05 Nov 2024 09:49:46
Great review Ed001.Thought the midfield was ineffective first half esp Mac who looked weak n slow. again Trent played well defensively but lacking going forward but I'll take that, because he is a defender first n that's his job. thought when Slot made the double substitution that sealed it for us . n iv mentioned it before on here about Gomez being invaluable for us . can play left, right, center and people wanted him gone in the summer I do think we need a strong fast midfielder though in January.
{Ed001's Note - I am so glad we kept hold of Gomez, such a nice lad as well as a very good player. Only thing he lacks, really, is aggression. That can hold him back at times from imposing himself physically like he should. Also, I wish we would make use of his throw in when he is on the pitch!}
28 Oct 2024 14:25:59
Ten hag should still be manager . he won more than the supposedly messiah of Arsenals, Arteta. let's hope Southgate gets the job.
23 Oct 2024 08:46:21
Great review ED1.I thought we was in control of that game, apart from the 10 mins before they scored . we looked more dangerous throughout aswel. I though Trent again was defensively sound, Salah had a great game, he just seemed to be in control of his position n with the ball especially, I agree with your ratings of the players . And you can tell the ref had a nightmare when the 2 teams complained about him, .
{Ed001's Note - thanks mate.}
11 Oct 2024 09:08:58
Seano is 100 % right. these players if they leave for nothing will cost us over 200 mill to replace. if we knew they wanted to leave then we should have cashed in on them the year bfr, . we need at least 2/ 3 quality players as it is to compete with city etc. now the extra money would have made a big difference in levelling the field . now we're on catch up again, while these clubs can spend what they want. shambles, no other way to describe it.
06 Oct 2024 00:56:04
Might have missed 2 sitters but he scored the winner or I'm I missing something from today.
