VVD signs 2 year contract extension, one done, two to go, great news.
1.) 20 Jan 2025 04:03:40
I think you've been click baited mate?
2.) 20 Jan 2025 04:40:48
Source Mcgov?
3.) 20 Jan 2025 05:37:13
Where have you got this from?
4.) 20 Jan 2025 05:41:10
Are u sure?
5.) 20 Jan 2025 09:05:35
The dutch newspaper article is recycled news. 2 weeks old now, still waiting for confirmation.
6.) 20 Jan 2025 09:16:23
Caught Offside I presume!? Sigh!
7.) 20 Jan 2025 09:35:16
He might be having some building work done.
17 Jan 2025 18:32:48
I don't think we'll buy anyone in this transfer window and to calm the fans i think the club will announce new contracts for probably VVD and Salah at the end of the window.
They'll be like 'new signings' and it will probably placate a lot of the fans.
1.) 17 Jan 2025 18:57:15
Am not sure that will happen, I think it’s starting to look like all 3 are going I think it will have been sorted by now. I don’t know if there is some plan to replace all 3 well Trent is sorted Bradley does that. I just hope VVD stays above the all others as I think losing a cb like him is nearly impossible to replace as I know because it took for Virgil to come in to replace Hansen.
2.) 17 Jan 2025 18:58:56
Maybe van Dijk, don't think Salah stays, wage structure and all that good sh*t.
3.) 17 Jan 2025 18:49:25
They won’t be like new signings at all, that’s not what transfer windows are for. I reckon all 3 will leave myself. And Diaz will be off in summer.
4.) 17 Jan 2025 19:35:00
Virgil is the most important.
Can you imagine if he had off days like Salah often does? (Yes his stats are crazy and possibly irreplaceable) . If Virgil had those off days we'd lose more than we won.
Trent I'm actually not fussed about. Great if he stays, but if he goes then I wish him all the best.
5.) 17 Jan 2025 21:10:32
Virg will stay, don’t mind the other two going at this point but more gutted that Trent is leaving.
Re Diaz he may want to guy but I can’t see Barcelona wanting him. IMO he could easily end up in Saudi - again great player but not irreplaceable if he does leave. Guess it would leave Gakpo as clear first choice even though I don’t really rate him.
Don’t mind the potential rebuild but hoping we actually get given the funds to make 5/ 6 signings.
6.) 17 Jan 2025 21:41:12
Bradley does what trent does? Are you mental grino, trent is 10 times the footballer Bradley, Bradley may defend a bit better but trent gives us so much more, think Bradley will replace all that is absolutely ridiculous.
7.) 17 Jan 2025 22:08:26
Port red, somewhat agree. Bradley can't pass the ball like Trent, but I think he is a much better defender and can beat a player.
8.) 17 Jan 2025 22:46:57
Bradley is not a much better defender, where does this notion come from? The kid has played a handful of games and has been at fault for a couple of goals already. He plays as a RW for N. Ireland!
9.) 17 Jan 2025 23:18:23
Alright lads. Do we know ball park what trent mo and virg are looking for money wise?
{Ed025's Note - well Mo is on £350k a week Cumber and i dont think he will be taking a drop mate, VVD is on£180k and i expect he will want a significant rise to stay, TAA earns the same and will want at least parity with VVD whatever he gets rise wise..
10.) 18 Jan 2025 00:41:35
It's funny how players can be so hard on Bradley but then state Danns is the second coming.
11.) 18 Jan 2025 04:04:16
We've coped well without Ali, Mo, Trent, etc. What we didn't cope well with was when Virgil was out. Hands down our most important player.
12.) 18 Jan 2025 04:05:57
Ed I know it's a diff world but if Virgil is on what you say then that's borderline criminal. Looking around the league at the likes of Mount, Sterling, Rashford, etc. all on double what you say Virgil is on.
{Ed025's Note - those figures do not include bonuses RF but i must agree that when you compare him to that lot hes basically on the minimum wage mate, maybe we should start a go fund me page to get him a few bob.. :)
13.) 18 Jan 2025 06:07:11
Also McGoveb, we could be in a situation where we dint sign players for positions that we are lacking in currently. and the 3 contracts are NOT renewed.
Dint want to be pessimistic, but that's the reality.
Questions around our recruitment and contract negotiations are rightly placed at those in charge, whoever that might be wrt Hughes, Ward and Edward's.
14.) 18 Jan 2025 07:00:51
You joining for red side now mate? ?.
{Ed025's Note - you know me better than that mate.. :)
15.) 18 Jan 2025 10:23:50
As days pass by I am less confident of us extending any one. Hope I am wrong though.
On other note, I am eagerly waiting for annual post of Joyce, Oristein, James, Reddy on war chest to attack summer transfer.
16.) 18 Jan 2025 13:30:15
All this contract embarrassment says to me is that the club is far too big now for JH and his clowns so maybe it’s time to sell the club NOW.
17.) 18 Jan 2025 18:49:37
You are right about the bad signings point. We actually have a pretty good record on acquisitions, with very few duds since the Salah/ VVD/ Alisson signings. If frankly low cost and low profile punts like Thiago and Minamino had happened at City absolutely nobody would care/ remember. Deliveroo is really the only big exception, and you could easily identify more than one parallel to him at every big club.
The key point about our owners is that at their absolute core they are hedge fund deity-pricks. They fundamentally believe in their own genius, they are better and cleverer than market sheep who pay full whack for things - whether financial assets, companies, sports assets, players. They don’t beat the sheep by spending the same money the sheep would on the same assets the sheep target. No, no no - they are soooooooo much smarter. That’s the fundamental belief which links their hedging strategies, buying distressed assets like LFC, Moneyball/ Comolli data-porn, and not paying top end on ‘talent’ like the sheep do.
Their theological belief that only stupid people (not them) spend the most, is part of why they are being sticklers on PSR, grassing on City and Chelsea, etc. What they ultimately want is to end the ‘just spend more’ advantage persisting in football. Or looked at in another way, the unfairness of sheep who aren’t as smart as them being able to beat them by having more money. They want all the biggest teams locked into the same, closed competitions (hello ESL) and broadly the same income levels, and therefore locked into broadly the same spending plane (hello PSR) . Once that is achieved, then the only differentiator is being smarter than everyone else. And then we’ll see who wins, and who has the most money.
18.) 19 Jan 2025 10:05:08
If Virg is on £180k he had better be on some amazing bonus package for carrying Trent, Ibou, Gomez, Robbo, Quansah and Tsimikas at various points this season.
Seriously, we are talking about a defender that came 2nd in the Ballon D’or when it was a two-horse race (and he was neither of the horses), a player we can literally play as a line centre back and attackers still don’t want to go near him. Yes, £180k per week is a lot of money, an obscene amount. Yes, he is too relaxed at times but I wouldn’t swap him for anyone playing currently. Maybe prime Maldini but even then I would have to think long and hard. And Virg could play well into his late 30s.
Of the three, he is the captain and the vital cog. The other two are less fundamental. Yes, Salah scores a lot of goals but he also misses a lot of chances, and I mean too many on some days. Virgil rarely has an off day. Salah will be missed but Slot will adapt the team and we will cope.
Trent has a few off days but almost always plays a pass that nobody else in the world can. A pass that results in a goal that wins us the game. Crucial to the team at times. Corner taken quickly? Yesterday’s reactive pass to Nunez? The 100s of YouTube Hollywood QB Blitzes? And we are talking about Bradley as a replacement? lol
What a mess. Virg - £208k p/ w, sign him now. Trent - do everything you can to keep him £200k per week. Salah - offer him a slightly reduced salary on a two year deal and done. Renegotiate his bonuses to equate to goals scored but exclude penalties. Sharpen him up a bit.
14 Jan 2025 14:32:54
Joshua Kimmich being reported today as the replacement for TAA, 29 years old on equivalent of approx £300k per week and club looked for £20m+ to get him in January. Is this really good business, surely Bradley is TAA successor?
1.) 14 Jan 2025 15:34:47
if its up to me i would stay away from signings like this.
2.) 14 Jan 2025 16:04:31
Mcgov…. does this rumour sound realistic to you?
3.) 14 Jan 2025 16:13:07
I think although there may be a kernel of truth in this reporting, it is coming from papers that like to sensationalise. What wage will Kimmich sign for is probably a better question than "what wage is being reported"?
In terms of the player, I really like the look of him in the snippets of games I have seen. He is also equally adept at RB and CDM which means, if Trent does go, he can help out at RB and also be more of the ball playing double pivot that Slot wants with Grav.
If Trent does go now, then the cost for Kimmich is roughly the same as we will likely get from Real Madrid.
Kimmich is a high quality players, experienced winner etc. Is still young enough to have a few more years at the top, without necessarily blocking Bradley due to age and (more importantly) versatility.
My overriding wish is for Trent to stay, but if he goes, I think Kimmich would be a clever, versatile and high quality signing.
Staying away from the numbers obvs in honour of Ed002.
4.) 14 Jan 2025 16:13:46
I agree. I'd rather not go there.
5.) 14 Jan 2025 16:14:40
Replacing a player who gets criticised for not being very good defensively for one who is worse, as well as being older, slower and on even more stupid wages seems as illogical as it gets. Surely we’d have learnt something from the last washed up Bayern player we signed. I’d hope this is Kimmich’s agent pushing Bayern. Don’t want him anywhere near the club.
6.) 14 Jan 2025 16:17:03
If we're buggering about giving Trent, Salah and VVD contracts I highly doubt we're willing to offer this fella what he wants, not on those type of wages, it's not the way we do things.
7.) 14 Jan 2025 16:18:26
We need two players for each position minimum. So if we have to replace Trent it has no bearing on Bradley, He is still one of the two for RB.
8.) 14 Jan 2025 16:18:43
Kimmich also plays midfield does he not? If its true which it may or may not be it doesn't necessarily mean Trent is leaving.
9.) 14 Jan 2025 16:33:21
Ginger, apologies, i thought I posted it on the Rumours page. I'll have it removed immediately.
10.) 14 Jan 2025 16:54:43
Red Willis, the perception of Kimmich being any good in midfield is false, he’d get absolutely battered in the premier league. He’s absolutely awful under any pressure and needs lots of time and space which he gets loads of in the Bundesliga, but neither of which he’d get here. If that’s the best Hughes is able to come up with then he should resign now and save himself the inevitable grief.
11.) 14 Jan 2025 16:57:14
Nah, not for me.
12.) 14 Jan 2025 17:03:28
Kimmich for TAA is a true masterstroke. Absolute genius.
I pray this rumour has no truth in it but Kimmich’s name keeps being linked with us. It is terrifying. He will be useless in midfield in the EPL. As influential as Poulsen
He would be woeful at RB.
13.) 14 Jan 2025 17:18:40
Surely if they would be willing to pay £300k to a 29 year old they would offer this to Trent - if he has said no to £300k it’s not about the money is it and if he goes then he wants a new challenge much better way to leave than no offering me as much money as Madrid so I’m off there.
14.) 14 Jan 2025 17:58:08
Sofa, Kimmich is on something like £320k plus bonuses at Bayern and is asking for £400k to renew by all accounts. That’s enough to give St John of Massachusetts a coronary.
15.) 14 Jan 2025 19:22:15
Just give the 300K to Trent then problem solved!
16.) 14 Jan 2025 19:59:00
I said 2 years ago that we should sign Kimmich to replace Fabinho still think that he will be a huge addition.
17.) 14 Jan 2025 22:56:20
I’m with you Langland and Zeddicus. Some sections of our fan base have a phobia of signing older players. I get it, because we’ve got it so wrong in the past on a few occasions (Thiago, Lambert, Cole etc) . We also got a few absolutely spot on though (Milner, McAllister, Endo etc) .
Kimmich is the right player for our style of pay and he can play DM, CM, CB and RB. Most other clubs fans say he’s the best RB in the world, but we obviously have a bias towards Trent. Pep Guardiola built his Bayern team around him as the midfield anchor in DM. He’s top drawer but his wages do sound particularly high. I’d be excited about him signing either way. I don’t pay his salary.
18.) 14 Jan 2025 23:17:47
I heard a little whisper that Kimmich wants £500k per week. To be fair though my psychiatrist has warned me off about the voices in my head.
19.) 15 Jan 2025 00:16:56
I think Kimmich is good in midfield and I think your perception of his abilities is false Victor. We will have to agree to disagree and If he joins he will prove one of us wrong. Hopefully you. I'd take him just to have someone who can actually take a corner to be honest.
13 Jan 2025 17:32:26
Kvara and Osimhen are becoming this windows Bellingham and Caceido. Will it be a lot of huff and bluster like those windows or will be hit the jackpot.
1.) 13 Jan 2025 18:29:20
We will not get either. Likelyhood is it will be a young player (s) that no one has heard of except MK Scouser possibly.
When this happens we just have to hope for the best and see what happens.
2.) 13 Jan 2025 18:33:16
What do you think?
3.) 13 Jan 2025 18:11:19
All the noise has started about Tzimas now. Macca way ahead on that one!
Kvara surely nailed on for PSG I don’t actually believe we’re even in the running for an €80 million left winger.
4.) 13 Jan 2025 18:20:27
To be fair, I’m glad we got Szoboszlai and Gravenberch instead of those 2. Bellingham has turned into a really arrogant prick. The way he acts like he’s the holy saviour of Madrid and England is cringeworthy and sickly to watch. That advert he did for the Euro’s was so insulting to the rest of the squad. I just find him really unlikeable even if he is a world class player.
Caicedo on the other is just a nasty piece of work who intentionally goes in above the ankle on nearly a weekly basis. Horrible little man.
{Ed025's Note - yet if you had signed them you would be making excuses for them and backing them to the hilt no doubt..
5.) 13 Jan 2025 18:53:58
We are interested in “Future looking bright” players apparently. No first teamer coming in.
6.) 13 Jan 2025 19:05:34
Is Tzimas better than Danns?
I have my doubts.
7.) 13 Jan 2025 19:26:31
You know Ron. Exactly a year ago you were drooling on this page on how Bajcetic was supposed or he the next Xabi Alonso and we need not sign a midfielder. It’s laughable.
8.) 13 Jan 2025 20:37:38
To be fair Ed25 that’s what most fans of any club does. It’s nothing new.
Hoping you’re keeping well and looking forward to the new Goodison messiah arriving . In Moyes we trust ?.
{Ed025's Note - im good thanks Irish, and a realist mate.. :)
9.) 13 Jan 2025 20:41:49
25m for someone with half a good season in the Bundi 2 does not feel very Eddie. This is the type of deal you'd want to be picking up for 5m.
Look at Doak for example, 600k to 20+ M in 2 seasons.
10.) 13 Jan 2025 20:42:33
Absolutely not Ed025. You know better than that. I take some pelters on here for criticising Liverpool players I don’t rate or whose attitude I dislike! I was hammered last season for saying we should sell Diaz for letting his dad run his mouth in the press about Barcelona after the support we offered during the kidnap saga. I was hammered again in equal measure for saying Gomez isn’t good enough to play CB for us long term as well. You’ve read enough of my posts down the years to know I’m a straight shooter regardless of whether it’s a Liverpool player or another clubs player.
{Ed025's Note - it should have read you,s MK not you in particular mate my bad, it was more of a general point that tribalism takes over and supporters make excuses for their own..
11.) 13 Jan 2025 21:12:19
To an extent I think we’re all a bit guilty of that Ed025. Part of being a supporter I guess. I did genuinely say on this site though when we were first linked to them that I didn’t want Jude or Caicedo. I do not agree with spending £100m+ on u21 players for a start. I find it absolutely mental in fact. You never know what kind of person they will become or if they were just a wonder kid. I don’t think it’s financially prudent and I also think it can go to their heads. I am not dead against all the money in the sport, but I do think the big bucks should be reserved for players proven over 5-10 seasons!
{Ed025's Note - hard to disagree with that mate..
12.) 13 Jan 2025 21:59:11
That’s strange Opportunity FC. I don’t remember seeing your username on here a year ago.
Are you one of those posters that keep changing their name every few months when everyone realised that they’re a troll?
13.) 13 Jan 2025 22:05:35
He’s one of the Harrys.
14.) 14 Jan 2025 00:29:37
I agree just behind the scenes to keep fans happy to say we were interesrted in buying but couldn't make a deal work then totally ignore them for summer window.
If only they can sell nunez for 70mil and use that money to keep VVD, Trent and Salah.
30 Dec 2024 18:21:35
Interesting rumour doing the rounds about Nunez going to AC Milan in Jan on loan with an obligation to buy at end of season, €5m for loan and transfer fee of €45m,
Any truth or whispers in this one Ed?
{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}
1.) 30 Dec 2024 20:49:17
Unless we are going to sign a replacement I don’t see the point in weakening the squad with the amount of games coming up.
2.) 30 Dec 2024 21:00:46
Salah said Nunez is the second favourite player that he has ever played with after Bobby, which should tell you something.
AC are skint, and we are in the hunt for 2 big titles, no chance he leaves unless we have a big gun coming in to replace.
3.) 30 Dec 2024 21:58:15
Did Mo say Nunez was the second best player he’d ever played with as well?
4.) 30 Dec 2024 23:28:17
That’ll put him in good stead then If Salah ever gets to pick the team.
5.) 31 Dec 2024 03:22:28
This is made up nonsense mate, guaranteed.
6.) 31 Dec 2024 05:53:20
AC Milan spending 50m on a player who would seriously improve them? No chance.
Those clowns will spend the 50m but on four average Joes, two of which will then be loaned out immediately for no reason.
AC Milan have gone from the most admired, formidable club in Europe to the friendly, unserious version precisely because they've gone full 90's Liverpool in the transfer market.
7.) 31 Dec 2024 08:17:28
Don't Redbird own Milan who also have a minority stake in us?
8.) 31 Dec 2024 08:52:26
@jk23
Yes they do . If we are to sign a replacement I’m for it if not keep him . Also I’m genuinely gutted it hasn’t went better for Nunez I don’t deem him a flop rather than just not of the required standard ( mostly finishing) but I can’t remember a player I have been more invested in than Nunez in a long while . Hoping he still comes good personally.
{Ed001's Note - when you see the footage of him in training and in clips where he competes against people on social media etc, Nunez is so clinical, so precise, everything is right in the top or bottom corner. Easy to do in training when no one is buffeting you and you are not under pressure and so relaxed. The minute you tense up or get knocked, that precise shot is suddenly going a few inches off true - which would be a miss when you are hitting it so precisely. Maybe he just needs to stop being quite so precise?}
9.) 31 Dec 2024 09:02:33
Redbird have a minority share in FSG, JK. Redbird aren’t popular in Milan…
Would be absolutely stupid letting Nunez go in January as there’s no chance we’d get an adequate replacement.
10.) 31 Dec 2024 09:26:52
When eds says" i don't know" instead of "no", tells a lot.
{Ed001's Note - yes, it says I don't know.}
11.) 31 Dec 2024 09:26:57
Don’t trust Jota to stay fit. Nunez has to stay or be replaced.
12.) 31 Dec 2024 09:31:12
Ed001 with Nunez I feel that one day he could just click and bang goal after goal reminds me of Forlan at Utd not very prolific at all but then when he left for Spain it clicked and he turned into a great striker.
13.) 31 Dec 2024 09:33:03
It would be foolish to mess with the team when we sit at the top of the league mid season. I think the rumour in nonsense anyway.
14.) 31 Dec 2024 09:34:54
Would love Nunez to get a few hours a week training with Robbie fowler think it would be great for him am sure Robbie did a lot of work with Rush as he was breaking into the team. I see an interview with Fowler and he did not like the thing that people said he was the most natural finisher he said that was not true he said that was down to loads of hard work and practice.
15.) 31 Dec 2024 10:06:57
I'd bet Nunez does practice his finishing a lot, but training is different to competitive games.
I think it's a mental thing with him. When he's on the pitch in a real game he just can't relax and do what he does a hundred times a day in training. Essentially the opposite of Origi who was cool regardless of circumstance.
16.) 31 Dec 2024 10:36:57
Ed001 is on to something there. Arne needs to get him aside and quote Ty Webb out of Caddyshack “…Darwin, there’s a force in the universe that makes things happen. And all you have to do is get in touch with it, stop thinking, let things happen, and be the ball. ”.
17.) 31 Dec 2024 11:01:23
I’m going to put £10 on Nunez to score 5 against Accrington.
Don’t follow me for tips though i had £10 on Gomez to score against Leicester on Boxing Day.
18.) 31 Dec 2024 11:02:26
Its his 3rd season, i'd imagine someones told him not to go for the absolute corner by now! Really like Darwin and ĺike 99% of Pool fans i desperately wanted it to work for the bloke but after watching him now for two and a half years he is what he is, and that is a player not good enough for this team. Works hard and is well liked but that is not enough. The club should look to get what they can in the summer and move him on, if the chance arose and a replacement could be got in i'd do it this month.
19.) 31 Dec 2024 13:34:11
As Ed001 has stated he looks excellent in the training clips, I believe he was the only one to hit the Christmas Baubel in the competition they had, video on YouTube if you want to watch it.
The rumour stated that we would bid 20m for Delap as a young replacement, a 'good value signing' as they say.
20.) 31 Dec 2024 16:02:29
Curious. Are there training drills that can realistically simulate those moments before the final action/ shot? I think Darwin would benefit massively from working on his breathing when preparing the final shot/ decision. I think he's constant intensity makes it difficult for him to anything other than smash it where he has chosen to rather than look at the choices available to him before execution. Sadly, I don't think our club will have the patience to develop that given he's into his 3rd season and are able to rotate other high quality players in. Perhaps if he was a few years younger the club might still see value in that effort.
Perhaps it is here that Jota's hobby of gaming also aids him. He's simulating lots of decisions constantly and maybe that translates to his coldness in the box. (ps not necessarily advocating gaming) .
I bet Diego Simeone would love Darwin at Atletico Madrid.
{Ed001's Note - gaming is helpful, so long as it is not done too much. It improves reaction time as well.}
21.) 31 Dec 2024 16:24:50
Would be great for exchange with Pulisic.
22.) 31 Dec 2024 18:01:44
No way we let Nunez go unless we have a replacement lined up? Wouldn’t mind Cunha coming in but surely the cost would be huge. He is a player you could get out of wolves and would surely be up for a title fight and shot in champions league.
23.) 31 Dec 2024 19:11:50
Pulisic? The guy who spent more time on the treatment table in the EPL than Jota! Not sure that’s a great idea.
24.) 31 Dec 2024 20:02:29
I was once at a foo5ball forum and had the pleasure of listening to Aime Jacques discussing some of his thoughts on football. At the time the A League was fairly new in Australia and Jacques was asked about his thoughts on the standard of the league. He answered in an interesting way by rallying about the speed of technique. He thought that there were many, many players in the world that had excellent technique but that only a few of them - the world class players - could apply the levels of technique when they were under intense pressure - either from the opposition and / or from themselves. As he was talking in Australia he talked about Harry Kewell as someone who had the capability to be world class but that whilst the A League was a step in the right direction it did not reach the levels of intensity that brought out the best in those who might shine.
The discussion about Nunez being far more clinical in training than on match day seems to suggest - at least according to Jacquet’s ideas - is that the lad might just not have what it takes.
25.) 31 Dec 2024 20:43:52
Lee Kuan, why would we swap Nunez for a player who is not only massively injury prone, but also a player who is on record as saying he didn’t want to play for us because he’s a United fan.

The line from so many posters seems to be that if we buy players they may not be a success!
I think we've shown that our hit rate is considerably higher than our miss rate. So why do you all use that line when a poster says he thinks we should buy players? Why not be positive and say we have a very good track record in the transfer market so its a good bet that the club will buy players who will succeed for us as that's what's happened most of the time in the last 7 or so years.
Who cares what happened when Rogers or anyone before him was here, it's not relevant yet gets dragged up in so many transfer discussions.
1.) 28 Jan 2025 00:44:45
Equally, the line from the “other” posters seems to be that we NEED to buy players as that is the only way we’ll be successful.
I’m in the middle ground where context is important.
We have needs but at same time we have a full squad. So those needs can be addressed over summer time unless an opportunity comes up now that makes sense.
2.) 28 Jan 2025 04:39:00
Of the 16 players used on sat v Ipswich at one point 14 of them were once upon a time ‘shiny new toys’.
I’m quite confident that the current squad can win the title this year but we’ve been in this league position at this stage of the season and been unsuccessful quite a few times.
I wouldn’t want us to just buy anyone but I can’t imagine Slot doing that anyhow.
There’s a difference between the club not spending money or not willing to spend money and I’m a little unsure on what side we fall on if I’m honest.
We could also potentially need to replace 1-3 of our best players in the summer which would be huge.
For me the positives far out weigh the negatives but the truth is we’ve not won anything yet.
3.) 28 Jan 2025 07:05:50
JK ? ?
There are no right or wrong answers, just opinions.
For me I like a “shiny new toy” so shoot me ?. As long as the club think they can add something to the team, then welcome aboard. I also love to see a youngster coming thru and cementing his place in the team, nothing better.
Let’s hope we’ve learned from last season and get the job done this time and we also tie 3 very important players down and they all accept £100k a week. Then the fans and the club will be ecstatic ??.
4.) 28 Jan 2025 07:59:41
Some don't think we have a good record in the market though. They think we are shambolic, pathetic and a nonsense of a club, when we are top of the League. It's the overreaction that I disagree with, not that we need to be looking at new players.
The other thing is that it's easy to say 'just go out and buy a LB, how hard can it be? ' But signing just any LB isn't a sensible policy.
Fans that need appeasing to that extent when we are doing so well come across as whiny.
Saying that, I'd like us to sign two or three players this month but football clubs, especially successful ones, are not run to suit me.
5.) 28 Jan 2025 09:09:17
We do have a decent track record in the market Mcgoverb but that’s because we identify and buy the right players. If they’re not available we will either wait until they are or don’t buy anyone.
For me I get frustrated by people not understanding this and thinking that signing players is the only way to improve. It’s the most risky way to improve and can go wrong just as easily as it can go right.
The media have whipped fans into a frenzy every transfer window and as usual, like sheep so many fall for it and are more concerned with winning the window than actually winning trophies.
6.) 28 Jan 2025 09:49:06
@Mcgoveb, I agree with you that, on the whole, the club tends to buy players who add to / improve the quality of the squad. You could make an argument that the club only buys when the right players are available and in this window there is nobody available who fits the bill. That’s not me defending the club, just an observation that there are no value for money players out there at the moment.
7.) 28 Jan 2025 10:25:17
These posts are far too sensible. We need Leek or Viktor to come in and restore the space-time continuum.
8.) 29 Jan 2025 03:18:05
I've had a look back as far as 2009/ 2010 season and can only find two seasons when we've been ahead at this stage of the season.
2018/ 19 we had 4 point lead then City clawed us back and won by one
and obvs 2019/ 20 when we were miles ahead and obvs went on to win the league.
not sure one other season qualifies us as having a lead at this stage
of the season and being unsuccessful a few times.
anyways, the reasons why that happens can be multi-faceted not just transfer related.
But to be honest, I find it a bit redundant when someone tries to make a claim that if we bought a player for this or that position, that we would then have changed the overall outcome. that feels a bit revisionist and simple.

From Harvey's interview last night after he was asked about a possible summer transfer, great to see his dedication to the club, breath of fresh air in the modern game.
Liverpool is my club. Liverpool is my team. I want to fight for my place, fight for my position in the team.
“It’s down to me to put in the effort, the hard work, the desire, to make that achievement. I am not going to give up, I am going to keep fighting. ”.
1.) 19 Jan 2025 16:33:35
Yeah I think many are quick to forget he's only 21, a young lad still with a great attitude. It's rare to see with youngsters nowadays, they get far to ahead of themselves.
Well played, Elliot lad.
2.) 19 Jan 2025 16:47:42
The lad is living his dream playing at the club he supported as a boy.
3.) 19 Jan 2025 16:57:58
Legend, love harvey!
4.) 19 Jan 2025 17:07:56
There's always hope. I'm sure jesse lingard is still considered young.
5.) 19 Jan 2025 17:47:50
Harvey Elliot is 21 madmax, you can't be serious!
6.) 19 Jan 2025 17:57:16
Hendo was once on the for sale list, I hope Harvey's situation works out the same, I love him as a player and a person, always works his socks off too!
7.) 19 Jan 2025 18:22:01
The lad is living his dream playing at the club he supported as a boy.
Trent says Hai @Jk ?.
8.) 19 Jan 2025 18:42:37
I love that kid to death. Good on you, Harvey.
9.) 19 Jan 2025 20:17:09
Surprised he hasn't gotten a bit more opportunity to be honest. He's got a long range shot in his locker - doesn't hit it as hard as Szob maybe, but he's seemingly got a bit more technique with it.
And with the number of low blocks they have/ will continue to face, that's got to be a threat.
I've heard the criticism that he's not fast enough, and that's arguably true out wide as he can't cover space as quickly, but in the middle not sure he's any slower than Mac/ Jones. Not suggesting he should genuinely supplant them, but seems worth a bit more of a try at times.

New image uploaded to the
Liverpool Player Sightings page entitled, Premier League high scorers and assists this season, Mo's numbers are phenomenal. Though you'd have to say if we had Isak up front instead of Nunez I think we'd be unstoppable.

1.) 16 Jan 2025 18:01:55
True great is our mo.
2.) 16 Jan 2025 18:24:16
Everyone of them players will cost upwards of 30 million amazing the leader you can get for free.
3.) 16 Jan 2025 18:32:08
He is a machine Mo.
I hadn’t thought Brentford would have two as Wissa doesn’t get much coverage , so no surprise they’re doing so well with two reliable sources of goals.
Could do with one of Cody or Diaz getting in there, but no Arsenal player on it is a bit of a surprise, would have expected Saka.
4.) 16 Jan 2025 18:47:18
Isak is the last player on that list I would want to see at Liverpool. I just don't get the obsession with him on here.
5.) 16 Jan 2025 19:18:22
free is not true though, if he leaves he'll be the best paid player in the world by either Al-Hilal or Al-Ittihad (pretty damn expensive for a 'free' player)
6.) 16 Jan 2025 20:04:46
Snuggle after watching newcastle a fair bit recently and Isak in particular, have to say he’s a very high quality striker…. much better player than haaland ( he’s just a goal scorer) He is everywhere and great finisher.
7.) 16 Jan 2025 20:35:17
When bobby was leaving I wanted isak as his replacement after watching him at sociedad for a year. Sadly jurgen does read these pages or my posts.
8.) 16 Jan 2025 20:43:06
Chris Wood is what Rickie Lambert could’ve been if he didn’t start thinking the earth was flat and talking to glasses of water.
9.) 16 Jan 2025 21:46:35
Haaland’s one assist ?.
10.) 16 Jan 2025 22:32:49
@fiske: He’s free . They will all be on big wages stop stating the obvious.
01 Jan 2025 14:00:26
Did we buy anyone yet? ???.
1.) 01 Jan 2025 14:33:28
Class ?.
2.) 01 Jan 2025 15:26:39
My wife is for sale?.
3.) 01 Jan 2025 15:53:11

We were on the kop last night, the place was rocking at time, very loud, another great champions league night at Anfield. Great performance by the team.
2.) 28 Nov 2024 21:01:33
What a player. What a performance. He was walking around on the pitch after so hopefully its a sign it was just a delicate strain.
3.) 29 Nov 2024 06:46:25
Well said steviep62 the noise throughout was awesome and the noise after that unbelievable tackle from Conner was bloody wicked and would have registered on the earth quake app I am sure of it.
Thanks to all the home and away fans I get to feel a little closer to Anfield from my home in Australia every weekend because of your incredible support.
YNWA.

Northern Echo and Teeside Live are reporting it now
Asked about the 19-year-old’s absence, Carrick said: “He just felt his thigh during the week in training. We'll see how it is. It won't be a few days, it will be longer. Probably weeks, not ages but yeah, it won't be days.
28 Jan 2025 19:20:33
Those players must be playing PSV while the second group. play Girona, money must be tight if we are playing exhibition matches during the season now.
24 Jan 2025 00:04:13
Will Nunez become our new Origi?
22 Jan 2025 20:16:39
Apologies Gents, I dropped a doo doo there.
22 Jan 2025 15:44:13
Great rumour, really old stool that.
02 Feb 2025 16:16:29
Ruben Amorim needs to have a chat with David Moyes as Moysey has shown that he knows how to get a performance out of a bang average team.
31 Jan 2025 14:23:17
WDW, you've just done the same as I did, irony.
30 Jan 2025 21:40:56
Surely he's allowed his opinion BP or do you decide who should and should not have an opinion on this Liverpool site? If you don't like his opinion you can choose to move on to someone else's that suits your agenda.
30 Jan 2025 19:36:52
Slot might want 'his' players but how much say does he actually have? Will he just be told who. is coming in by Hughes and Co.? I'm sure he'll have some input but I do wonder if it will be more of a 'well. yes i can make that fit' scenario.
30 Jan 2025 19:32:19
I really dislike WhyoWhys posts and do my best to ignore them but I think. you picked that one up incorrectly 007.
I believe he was replying to another poster who was saying we do t spend money. WhyoWhy replied, and I'm paraphrasing here, 'what, did we get all these for free' and listed those players and a good few more.
However as I said I really do try and ignore his posts so maybe I'm wrong in what I've said here.
