Hi Ed02, hope you are well- just wondering if we still might have interest in Neushaus or has that passed? Havent seen him mentioned on here in awhile or anywhere (having a bad season maybe?). I think we all agree that we need a midfielder this summer. Who would you like to see come in? Laimer? Bissouma?

funky061

{Ed002's Note - Florian Neuhaus (CM) Interest of Bayern Munic and Borussia Dortmund seems to have moved on. Liverpool may yet return to look again but they have a number of other optiins that will be preferred.}

1.) 03 Jun 2022 16:10:33
Ed has our CM options changed at all or still the likes of Bissouma, lol Sanchez etc.

{Ed002's Note - RTFP.}

2.) 03 Jun 2022 16:46:19
Ed would Neuhaus be a back up for Thiago or in the same position as Sangare?

{Ed002's Note - He would be a starter.}

3.) 04 Jun 2022 02:06:05
Ed02, I think for future replies you should just drop the R, T and P and just use F 👍.

4.) 04 Jun 2022 07:58:06
RTFP! Has to be the first of this transfer window? I bet it won't be the last 🤣.

Hi Ed01,

Just wondering if you have a preference for EL/ even conference league or just stay out of them and focus on the league and domistic cups?

funky061

{Ed001's Note - of course we need to be in Europe if we can. We should aim to win the comp as well.}

1.) 16 Apr 2023 14:11:12
Europa league is worth trying to get into and trying to win as a route back to champs. May be easier than through the league next year. Conference league is a waste of time but if we got in excellent opportunity for the kids and squad players to play. If nothing else, gives us some footy to watch on a Thursday night.

2.) 16 Apr 2023 14:20:19
One way to look at it, we could become the only team to have won the 3 Uefa competions (not including the Cup Winners Cup)

3.) 16 Apr 2023 15:15:36
Europa league final is in Dublin next year.

4.) 16 Apr 2023 15:17:54
No Ed025 today, Rumour has it he is having a "FULL-HAM" Sandwich for his Dinner, followed by "CRAVEN COTTAGE" Pie!

Ed025 now i know why EFC are moving to Bramley Moor Dock, it's not as far to throw yourselves in the Mersey after the games, and nearer for your future Derby matches versus Tranmere Rovers!

Sorry ed025 "Buddy", I'll get ye a couple of Jars when ye next in the Grapes in Woolton Village, though you prefer the Elephant for the "Skirt" i would say.

"Sincere Apologies Buddy".

{Ed025's Note - all is fair in love and football bond mate..

5.) 16 Apr 2023 15:38:13
It's the fastest growing city in the world! it keeps Dublin and Dublin and Dublin?

Fellow poster "The Irish Rover" has invited us all back to his gaff for free victory celebrations.

6.) 16 Apr 2023 15:45:28
I would rather win the EL or the Conference League than the 2 domestic trophies.

7.) 16 Apr 2023 16:56:25
Thu/ sun football seems to be quite a challenge for a lot of teams in the past.

Utd have handled it decently this season but again they have a bigger and better squad than most in EL though.

Honest answer is Id be happy to see us still in a European competition but I wouldn’t be too sad to see us not in EL/ Conference League and 100% concentrating on the league campaign next season.

8.) 16 Apr 2023 17:26:12
We don’t look like we’re going to get into the top six so this is all pretty academic.

9.) 16 Apr 2023 19:26:04
I won't be mad if we don't play in Europe next season cos that brings its benefits for sure BUT I do see the need for a club as huge as ours should be in Europe and aim to win it, as Ed01.

10.) 16 Apr 2023 19:42:00
I'd take the Conference League from here to be honest. It's another 10+ games sure. But the perfect competition to bed in our younger players and still keep our reputation active on a European scale. Kelleher might even stay if we qualified and promised him all the games in that competition as it's a great opportunity to win another medal.

11.) 16 Apr 2023 20:13:37
Mk the major problem I see with that is who preps and travels with the youngsters and sits on the bench for the game especially away from home. Because if it’s Klopp that means he’s not working with the first team on potentially a wed, Thu and Fri in preparation for the Sunday league game.

12.) 17 Apr 2023 07:29:06
I'm sure many will disagree but I still believe UCL places is still a possibility for us this season.

13.) 17 Apr 2023 08:02:44
I would say CL qualification is still possible spurs and the toon still have to play each other so whilst it's been a poo season we can still end it by doing what we need to do win our remaining games and watch as everybody else loses they're shizzle.

14.) 17 Apr 2023 13:02:33
I still waiting for the wheels to come of. Newcastle’s wagon ?.

10 Apr 2023 21:06:26
Me before the game: I think Klopp should go with Gomez at RB instead of TAA to deal with the treat of Martnelli, or at least play TAA and have someone like Hendo a few years deeper to help him out.

Klopp: doesn't play Gomez at RB. doesn't play Trent at RB. doesn't really play anyone at RB lol

But what a game. Super performance from Konate. Trent with freedom is a serious talent but we NEED to be on the front foot (Klopps normal way of playing) . Anything other system and Trent should be sold for his own sake.

funky061

1.) 10 Apr 2023 21:35:24
I think Trent needed a game like this he might have finally woken up. He seems to have been in a sulk since being dropped for England. Let’s hope Arsenal have awoken a sleeping giant of a player. I would love it if he could play the same enthusiasm in every game especially at Anfield. He is one of our own and can lift the crowd like Gerrard used to. I just want him to make the most of his ability and become a future captain of Liverpool. Emotion on a football field can be a powerful thing he just hasn’t seemed to have had any for a while.

2.) 10 Apr 2023 23:31:17
I hope you're right str8. He can be one of the best in the world in my opinion.

3.) 11 Apr 2023 08:35:41
guardiola and RM and any top, top side in Europe would gladly take TAA in a heart beat?

Selling him would undermine us greatly, you keep ye best young players not sell them! He hasn't had a stellar season form wise, but then again who has this season!

4.) 11 Apr 2023 09:28:13
Agreed Bond ?.

5.) 11 Apr 2023 10:23:09
If we too sell everybody that has had a poor season we be playing 5 a side next season! Hopefully get the new additions needed, tactics altered too suit what we have and the top class players that no doubt we have come back next season revitalised and with a point to prove.
As we seen Sunday players playing with a bit of anger can be v powerful.

6.) 11 Apr 2023 16:57:45
Indeed, Digger10. The players that will go or are already set to go, will go. That's as far as it will go for now until the summer.

05 Apr 2023 12:41:35
Europa- Yes, Conference- No
Is EL league 5th and 6th place or just 5th? I can never remember. But 'd still welcome EL, its another major trophy, route into CL if needed, source of revenue and would offer minutes to Ramsey, Bajcetic, Doak, Carvlaho, Elliot etc, might even entice Kelleher to stay on one more year.
Oh and it would prevent us from our dreaded early Saturday morning kickoffs :)

funky061

1.) 05 Apr 2023 13:00:04
Welcome? Not at all.
Live with. Sure.

The scale of the changes required this summer means we will have a season of transition ahead anyway. We'll need plenty of games for the new team to play together.

2.) 05 Apr 2023 13:02:44
Agreed. Klopp hasn’t won everything available to him at Liverpool without the Europa.

3.) 05 Apr 2023 13:12:52
Just play the kids if they do well then great if not oh well.

4.) 05 Apr 2023 15:35:39
I don't mind it to be honest. If it means some of the tourists not bothering with Anfield and improvement in the atmosphere on a European night then it can't be a bad thing.

NB: aware this always causes an argument on social media, so as a sidenote its not a dig at out-of-town fans who are fantastic. Its the types who attend for a photo and a Tik Tok and turn up at Old Trafford pretending to support United the following week.

5.) 05 Apr 2023 19:09:21
I think only 5th get Europa guaranteed. If I remember correctly the other places go to the league and FA cup winners but those teams are usually in the CL places so they go to 6th and 7th place. I think anyway. It might have changed to the cup runners up, I don’t remember.

6.) 05 Apr 2023 20:58:36
Once again a top notch display of entitlement. There are fans who support their club for a lifetime and never get a smell of winning a cup never mind qualifying for Europe. Jesus, I want everything and I want it now and I don’t want anything that doesn’t give me personal gratification instantly.

7.) 06 Apr 2023 03:27:18
It’s nothing to do with entitlement it’s just standards we harp on about being this massive club but we seem afraid to actually act like one and hold ourselves to the same standards as the top teams. We seem happy to pat ourselves on the back for almost winning this and that.

13 Mar 2023 21:42:50
ED002 I see you said its too early to summarize and I compeltely get that. Can I request you cover Sangare (previous target I believe) and if there is any chance of Laimer on a free (I think it might be a done deal to Munich) when youa re summarizing? Either way, always great to hear from you. I do not expect a reply to this one!

21 Jan 2023 14:28:06
Fight hard for Europa League or spend the season giving Bacejic, Doak, Carvahlo more minutes and have no Thursday night football to worry about? no EL league might mean some loan moves for likes of Carvalho.

funky061

1.) 21 Jan 2023 14:45:45
Europa next season our best chance of getting into the CL but not a hope we qualify. Ourselves and Spurs are going to be left behind the coming years.

{Ed025's Note - I must say..I feel sorry for you now.. ?

2.) 21 Jan 2023 14:52:03
Maybe you should wait until around 4.50 to enjoy Liverpool's current form. You know the old saying those that laugh last laugh loudest ?.

{Ed025's Note - let’s be honest ORT. We can’t be much worse mate.. ?

3.) 21 Jan 2023 15:08:09
Yet you are Ed025.

{Ed025's Note - oh yeah..

4.) 21 Jan 2023 15:09:18
Both pretty bad to be fair.

5.) 21 Jan 2023 15:09:51
To all the negative posters, out of curiosity, were you at the game? I'm on my way back, having frozen my cobs off, having set off at 7:00 this morning.

At the end of the storm there's a golden sky.

6.) 21 Jan 2023 15:34:08
Rome, don’t be that guy.

7.) 21 Jan 2023 15:43:28
Don’t be that person Rome it’s embarrassing.

8.) 21 Jan 2023 15:49:54
The collective disappointment of that last season, which was excessively hyped up before the two big cups got away, Salah's National disappointments and too many games, plus the Paris final ****ery have rattled the players psychologically in my opinion.
This is psycho-emotional as much as it is physical .
Who knows if VVD, Salah and Fab will reach their previous heights.
Its usually by this time that the rocky style come back begins to shape up, and perhaps a good new signing will add some impetus . Having so many players off form at once means there is no fire starter other than Darwin.

Klopp will find a way.

9.) 21 Jan 2023 16:12:37
The weekend doesn’t look a total washout anyway, Everton are getting beaten again and may go last.
We’ll take Onana off your hands Ed when you’re relegated lol.

10.) 21 Jan 2023 19:33:17
I have no care about Everton losing my Grandad used to say if Liverpool lost you would want Everton to win. He was all about the good of the city and would be as upset as the rest of Merseyside at the moment. Now Man Utd losing that would get my Grandad going and is the only thing that would bring any joy on this dark weekend for our city. Everton going down is a certain loss for the premier league.

11.) 21 Jan 2023 20:05:59
Ed025 - whose your choice to replace Frank? I reckon he’ll be calling in for his P45 on Monday mate. Like I say, I don’t think it’s really his fault.

Isn’t Stevie G available? After all, Goodison, is a hell of a sight closer to Formby than Warsaw. Smile, they said, things could get worse.

{Ed025's Note - I would take Dyche all day WDW..

Digger from the bits I've seen of Ugarte, I don't think you could trust him as a sitting no.6 like say Fabinho, he seems to have an immense amount of energy and chases the ball like a madman. His energy, bite and attributes would def be a Klopp/ Anfield player but I just wonder where he would fit into our system. Maybe sitting next to Trent in this new "box midfield"? But I don't think he has the patience to sit. His stats are impressive.

Fsg are not the richest but far from the worse. People forget we thought we were losing mane and salah and replacing them with Sarr and Traore. But instead moved on a washed up moody Mane, kept Salah and signed Diaz (class), beat United to Nunez' signature and got Gakpo out of nowhere.

To be honest I am relieved Bellingham is going to Madrid. its been a huge distraction and there plenty of talent out there for us. I admit I fell for the cringey man crush for JB but glad to move on. Realistically we can now sign 3 midfielders instead of one. Imagine we signed him and he done his ACL.

Virgil is still a key player. Not as his best by any means, but put any other CB in into our backline and they would struggle. The opposition are breezing past of midfield and attacking our back for every 5 minutes.

I bloody hope we just go back to the high press. Ed01, who do you think would be the ideal/ realistic midfielders to come in help bring that back? I feel the forwards are still capable of carrying it out, and the defense is still good enough to squeeze up. But for a Midfield trio- who are your preferred targets? Not asking for a accurate prediction because there's too many variables and if it were that easy we could all make a lot of money off SKy bet Transfer Specials- but curious to know your preferred choices as you are an advocat of the high press (as am i)

funky061

{Ed001's Note - clearly Bellingham would be my first choice, but I would also be happy with someone like Kone from BMG or similar. Rabiot would be a decent cheap signing too I think.}

Totally agree with this. Ed- do you think going back to Klopps way of playing would hurt the progress of the likes of Elliot and Carvalho? Both seem like the are more suited to a Bruno Fernandez type role as they do not have the athletism to do the prime Hendo/ Gini box to box running/ pressing, nor do they have the explosive out to in runs/ goals that Mane, Salah and maybe Diaz have. Both seem to have good potential but I'd feel like at the very best they would still not be at Coutinhos level who even at his very best, was never really a Klopp player and we looked more balanced when he left. I know its not the biggest issue in the world for us but do you think they would hang around for the next evolution or be moved on/ kept squad players? I feel having Elliot, Trent and Mo covering the whole right hand side is a disaster when the opposition win the ball. A prime Hendo or Laimer/ Caciedo type player would bring much better balance to the Right side.

funky061

{Ed001's Note - I disagree completely on Elliott and Carvalho. They are much more suited to a high-press which would keep them right on top of the opposition and reduce the need for them to cover as much ground. They would be much further along if we had played that way, mainly because we wouldn't be in a mess with confidence destroyed. As for covering the right-side, we just need a centre-back who is able to defend, unlike Matip. Someone who actually reads the play and covers out there as he should do in that system. The midfield shouldn't really be dropping in to the full-back areas so much, they should drop in the middle while the centre-back goes out to engage. It is about reducing the distance needing to be covered. It is much easier for a centre-back to move out to the sides, than a central midfielder having to go back and sideways.}

The Coutinho one was massive tbf, and we got lucky with Solanke, for others: I could be wrong but we got pretty good fees for the likes of Danny Ings, Mignolet, Danny Ward Necco Williams, Minamino, Grujic, Shaqiri, Harry Wilson, Ki-Jana Hoever, Lovren, Brewster, Benteke, Mane, Awoniyi.

Not all of them were huge money or even profits but if I remember correctly, a lot of them in the 15 million pound range.
