Ed002 Bajcetic subject to Barcelona interest I see, permanent move has been suggested I really hope it's just a loan to gain Experience and full transfer is not being discussed.
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool are open to offers. We'll see.}
1.) 28 Aug 2024 22:55:19
Is that open to loan offers or permanent deals ed002? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - I suspect they only want a loan right now.}
19 Aug 2024 20:37:20
Well 11 days left of the summer window Ed's would it be safe to say that it's not looking like anyone will be arriving. Turning into a bit of a mess with 3 key players not extending. Time wasted on flip flopping between targets as well as wasted time trying to sign Zubimendi.
We have a decent squad but short of numbers in a few keys areas and I think it will cost us as the season pans out.
{Ed002's Note - No.}
1.) 20 Aug 2024 10:21:37
Presumably they weren't best pleased with the optics around the Zubimendi fiasco and have decided to to stop their briefings until something is agreed now. We're just going to have to be patient and see what 31st brings, if anything.
07 Aug 2024 23:24:27
Ed's have Liverpool contacted Sociedad regarding Zubimendi at this stage please snd put a proposal forward? Do you think we can get a deal done?
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool want to agree how the funds will be paid to Real Sociedad and need to persuade the player to make the move.}
05 Jan 2024 20:28:38
Ed002 I notice down the page you suggested the club are not looking at the likes of Trindade, Phillips etc because of how well Endo has done. Do you think this is the case now then in regards to us looking at another DM/ CM player?
{Ed002's Note - I still think the club will look to a CM/DM player like Thuram or Manu Kone.}
1.) 05 Jan 2024 22:16:46
This month eds? Rumours that we have submitted a bid for Inacio. Any truth or usual bs? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - There has been an offer but not from Liverpool.}
2.) 06 Jan 2024 07:12:16
Just out of curiosity Ed’s out of the 2 mentioned who would you say would suit Liverpool better .
{Ed002's Note - I think perhaps Thuram.}
3.) 06 Jan 2024 08:13:34
Hi eds. Any truth in the rukour that we have submitted a bid for inacio? Thanks.
{Ed002's Note - There has been an offer but not from Liverpool.}
4.) 06 Jan 2024 08:34:09
Good morning ed002….
Would you say the above players mentioned will most likely be target in the summer as apposed to this January transfer window?
Cheers
Drogie.
{Ed002's Note - It is difficult to predict timescales.}
5.) 06 Jan 2024 08:41:40
Who is the better player from these two?
6.) 06 Jan 2024 11:13:16
Just my own personal and honestly very limited opinion on the subject because I ve only watched then play the U21 euros. Completely fair to say it's not a fair assesment in a just a couple of games viewing but I'd offer my thoughts anyway.
Thuram pulled off some brilliant dribbles and looks the part on the ball. The massive downside from this tournament is he was a floater similar to Grav. Did not get stuck in to the game. He didn't seem afraid to tackle but very little energy. Rarely stopped attacks as he just wasn't there. So few touches on the ball too. I watched 3 games to watch him and Kone only and I still barely noticed him. He did get criticized however for his performance in the euros and his coach did say he was carrying an injury. So likely far better usually. I'd be a little wary of his transfer based on this tournament. I do think there's an exceptional talent in there if he works hard on the pitch. That's the rub for me. Can Klopp get him to play with the energy of a prime Fabinho. I'm never going to expect a Szobozlai/ Jones energy wise but he ll need to show more than this tournament. Without watching him non injured, I just can't be sure how he normally plays. Be interested to hear the opinion of someone who has watched him in ligue 1.
Kone has everything bar pace. It's a bit odd to say because having watched highlights I thought he was going to be a pacy player. If anyone runs quick, they are past him. I think he is a really good player as a number 8 for other teams but the pace is too big of a thing for me in Klopps system. If your 8 you need pace to press. 6 pace to cover ground. I would not pick him on that basis myself but he is a proper footballer to be fair. He played well before he got injured.
7.) 06 Jan 2024 11:14:33
Oh and sorry, if I had to pick from the two I'd go Thuram.
8.) 06 Jan 2024 11:45:29
Any intention Ed do you think of Liverpool to match the bid or make a bid of our own?
Thank you.
{Ed002's Note - Unless something has changed Liverpool would need to pay his full release clause in a single payment and persuade the player to move.}
9.) 06 Jan 2024 11:54:38
I can’t see Nice selling to us given that the owner of Nice also being part owner of United. We’d be better making a move for Kone.
10.) 06 Jan 2024 12:19:54
Cheers Ed. I’m a big fan of Inacio. Think he’s exactly what we need.
So last questions. Is it an English club who made the bid? A rival perhaps?
{Ed002's Note - YEs, Arsenal.}
11.) 06 Jan 2024 12:57:07
Thank you Ed!
12.) 06 Jan 2024 14:19:14
That is because he isn’t a DM in the first place @Davey. He is another ball carrier. Kone is an out and out DM. We should juts stick to a holding mid and not another who can do all.
13.) 06 Jan 2024 16:06:46
I wouldn't say Kone is an out and out DM either and I'd still pick Thuram out of the two anyway as he has pace and far higher ceiling. His skill level is impressive.
I'd easily take others above him and I ve already nailed my colours to the mast on the player I would choose Yusuf Fofana.
I would also love Valverde if he was anyway possible. Think he would be a magnificent Klopp type player.
{Ed002's Note - Neither are out and out DM. That is not what the club are looking for right now. Valverde would be very expensive.}
14.) 06 Jan 2024 17:06:20
Yusuf Fofana would be a good shout. Can play 6 or 8 so meets that flexible role that we’re looking for.
{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has zero interest in him.}
15.) 06 Jan 2024 19:06:04
Cheers for reply ed, been anything new on either player that you are aware of?
{Ed002's Note - Manchester City are maybe open to pushing for Thuram.}
16.) 06 Jan 2024 19:08:05
Thanks Davey for your insight into the two players have never seen either play so really appreciate a bit of info. You obviously watch lots of footy.
17.) 06 Jan 2024 19:14:49
Kone would be my preference of the two. However, I’d be nervous about his injury record.
12 Dec 2023 18:17:01
Ed's do you know the situation with regards to Macalisters injury? He had a bad cut that required stitches and was a double t for the utd game. I've just seen images off him with a leg brace on and oxygen mask. I'm thinking the injury is more than just a cut to the knee mate?
{Ed025's Note - as far as i know DTD he was due to out for 15 days, now speculation is saying he may be out until the new year mate..
1.) 12 Dec 2023 19:43:30
Every time a player gets injured during a game, we just leave them on until the injury is too bad to continue. They even did it with Diaz after he had done his knee. It’s a massive recurring issue for me.
2.) 12 Dec 2023 20:59:25
It looked like he was having fluid drained off his knee Mark.
3.) 12 Dec 2023 21:39:33
That’s a blast from the past @Mark - it’s nearly been two years since the medical team were caught n the firing line.
Which players have the club left on the pitch with injuries that required them to be taken away from?
Would you be willing to players n claims for compensation by the players on the grounds of (medical) negligence on the part of the club?
4.) 13 Dec 2023 11:57:15
I think people are getting carried away by the social media posts showing drains, oxygen masks and compression boots. More likely he is trying his best to be fit for the weekend than him being out for an extended period.

Good evening all well what a performance that was. 3 zip against the mancs in there own back yard. Should have been more. Ed001 wanted your opinion please mate on how we seem to be set up differently this season? Both full backs inverted and not booming towards the corner flag is what I notice. Also regarding Gravenberch all of a sudden he looks a beast as DM? Not someone who looks like has been shoehorned in there as there is no one else he looks natural and his first thought is to pass forward.
{Ed001's Note - the thing is that the set up alters, depending on the game. Usually it is only Trent who inverts though and moves up alongside Gravenberch, to free up Macca to get further forward and apply pressure up the pitch. Robertson tends to sit and make a three at the back - something he is getting much better at that - though he will also get forward sometimes still. I think it is the flexibility of the play that is the main improvement, the players are adjusting themselves to suit the game, rather than just continuing to do the same things regardless.}
1.) 02 Sep 2024 04:26:33
Gravenberch wouldn’t need to be shoehorned in there because playing with a partner in a deep lying midfield position is exactly the position he was trained to play in Ajax, it’s the position he has played the most in his career. Of course under slot and in the premier league he might have specific responsibilities that are a bit different but positionally that is very much his most natural position.
2.) 02 Sep 2024 07:32:23
What I liked about slot was his interview at the end explaining his tactics of how he watched how utd play and how he new they would change at half time, Annie slot tactical genius . the players look better in this system to the way pep had them playing.
3.) 02 Sep 2024 08:25:46
Not sure the boss would like being called Annie.
4.) 02 Sep 2024 08:36:32
All these people clamouring to say Gravenburgh was Liverpool’s man of the match. Did nobody notice Casemiro’s performance?
5.) 02 Sep 2024 08:48:05
Faith, not sure he would appreciate being called "Arnee" or "Arnée" either with the way people esp. the media seem to not be bothered nor want to learn how to pronounce his first name correctly whereas it is a very simple name to pronounce.
6.) 02 Sep 2024 10:23:30
@ Oli but you failed to tell us how to actually say it.
7.) 02 Sep 2024 10:38:38
Amazing a coach improving the players and introducing a system that the team understand and buy into. You couldn’t write this stuff could you.
8.) 02 Sep 2024 10:54:00
@Negatve as I speak a decent amount of Dutch (been living in Brussels almost a decade and have a couple of Dutch friends) and since you asked, the pronunciation is "Are-nuh" as in, the "e" at the end is silent while the "n" is pronounced all the way (the Dutch way) hence, the "nuh" you see there.
Just let it roll of your tongue, mate.
9.) 02 Sep 2024 11:00:48
Thanks for the clarification Oli, I only call him Mr slot out of respect for his position at the club.
{Ed025's Note - i just call him EggHead.. :)
10.) 02 Sep 2024 12:19:32
What’s weird is, the pronunciations were spot on for John “Arne” Risse.
11.) 02 Sep 2024 12:21:32
Casemiro is finished - he was last season. The best winning of the ball for a goal was Macca taking the ball from Marino like he was a kiddie. Really e joyed that.
12.) 02 Sep 2024 12:26:10
@Ed25, Can't blame you for that. That is a well-shaped head, Slot has on him right there, lol. Oh, and "Egghead" was a nickname we used to call smart kids in primary school as a kid, as well.
@Negative, well played, my guy. Personally, it's a pet-peev of mind when people simply either cannot or don't feel bothered to pronounce someone's name correctly.
For me, it is a sign of disrespect esp. if you can learn to do so yet people choose not and pronounce it any way they like.
13.) 02 Sep 2024 12:43:57
Don’t you call Ten Hag, Seven hag or ten 7 though.
14.) 02 Sep 2024 12:45:14
Do you think if Mr Slott goes on to have a fantastic career will they rename Anfield road end Arne road stand?
15.) 02 Sep 2024 14:14:44
JK23 now there, I DID say his name right, lol.
16.) 02 Sep 2024 15:02:30
Lovely place Brussels ?
Slots been brilliant so far.
Not like Klopp.
Not trying to be like Klopp.
Doing it his way and proving his class.
17.) 02 Sep 2024 15:35:30
7 Hag the klootzak!
18.) 02 Sep 2024 16:10:21
Should it not be Mr Shlott, Walter? Arnuhhhh Shlott has a Shmoke and a pancake.
19.) 02 Sep 2024 16:48:00
@Flash come on, now. Watch your language, lol.
@Ron, Brussels is amazing however it can be quite expensive at times.
20.) 02 Sep 2024 17:05:19
Brussels will be better when it’s finished!
SO much traffic and construction - it’s mental.
21.) 02 Sep 2024 17:48:46
Quality Rughby!
Gave me a mental image of Arne sitting chilling in the Bluebird with his eyes glazed over.
22.) 02 Sep 2024 19:01:22
It's interesting that Oli speaks a decent amount of Dutch because he lives in Brussels.
I can speak twice as much Dutch as most Dutch people. Double Dutch and I don't even live in Belgium.
23.) 02 Sep 2024 19:52:37
Always fancied a city break to Brussels however I was told not to bother now as it’s getting rough and run down…. is it?
24.) 02 Sep 2024 20:15:34
Ron and Magico hate to break this to you but Brussels esp. the downtown parts of it always seem to be under renovation.
{Ed025's Note - i thought it was very nice, but not as nice as Bruges..
25.) 02 Sep 2024 22:32:24
as someone of pacific island heritage living in a british colonized nation, it grinds my guts when commentators appear to not even make an effort to pronounce a samoan name properly. It's all about effort, then 9/ 10 out of time you'll get right.
30 Aug 2024 09:15:45
Well we have been talking to the agents of Inacio and Varela for the last few weeks so with nothing coming through I'm assuming neither are happening at this stage? I'm assuming it's the fee's needed upfront on both players that we can't get to or that the players don't want to come.
1.) 30 Aug 2024 11:05:43
Dare, if the players didn’t want to come, then there’s no point talking for weeks to the agents really imo.
2.) 30 Aug 2024 14:01:24
We found out the clubs wanted money for them and said no.
07 Aug 2024 21:08:46
Zubimendi Would be nice but it sounds like it's a waste of time when we should be pushing for players who do want to leave there club. Having had it explained to us how he wants to stay or play for Barcelona I just don't get why we are wasting our energy. Surely Emerson is more achievable.
1.) 07 Aug 2024 21:31:55
Ederson ?? ?.
2.) 07 Aug 2024 21:52:29
We’re wasting our energy because if we don’t then fans will say we’re not even trying and that we have no ambition.
3.) 07 Aug 2024 22:06:36
zubimendi is a waste of time, well apparently he's agreed the move to us, clubs now need to work on a fee.
4.) 07 Aug 2024 22:15:17
Apparently Sociedad are expecting Zubimendi to accept a move to us. So who knows? Could be an interesting few days ahead.
5.) 07 Aug 2024 22:28:31
If the club are going after Zubimendi then surely there’s a reason. These guys know what they’re doing, that’s why they’ve got the job.
They will get things wrong from time to time but they’re best placed to make these decisions.
Maybe we’re not even in for him, but if we are then they’ll be a reason why they think they can get him.
6.) 07 Aug 2024 22:51:15
Imagine being so naive to not know that a) nobody knows everything and b) people can change their mind.
7.) 07 Aug 2024 23:59:51
Some LFC supporters need to let go of the inferiority complex.
8.) 08 Aug 2024 00:13:25
@Port, there is a release clause, no fee. If Zubimendi wants to come to us and we pay the release clause, we get the player. Let's see what happens.
9.) 08 Aug 2024 01:29:28
What if another club bids more than the release clause and the player is also willing to go there?
10.) 08 Aug 2024 02:11:45
Stop it @Rigsby - some of these people are lining in the edge!
11.) 08 Aug 2024 07:34:17
In answer to your question Rigsby. For the release clause to be activated, the fee must be paid in one chunk. A club can pay more than the release clause to negotiate the fee with the selling club to be paid over a longer period of time.
12.) 08 Aug 2024 07:36:26
#living on, even.
13.) 08 Aug 2024 14:23:35
Thanks, Kopite_86. At the end of the day, as long as the release clause is met by one or multiple clubs in any way then, it is down to the player's choice of where he wants to go. Also, he can always decide to stay.
{Ed002's Note - It is not quite as simple as that.}
14.) 08 Aug 2024 17:01:09
I think the fact that a Liverpool fan has attempted to make an anagram out of his name will make up Martin's mind for him.
05 Aug 2024 13:12:15
Slot on potentially signing a DM: "Ryan [Gravenberch] did really well in that position [against Manchester United] and we have other options as well. "
There we have it, I think we have our lot in midfield but I could be wrong.
1.) 05 Aug 2024 13:28:00
And that's fine if that's what the coach thinks. Hopefully it doesn't backfire on him. Because the knifes will be out. Apart from the media some of our support can be quite toxic.
2.) 05 Aug 2024 13:42:07
We were all trying to sell Gravenberch 48 hours ago and now he's our starting DM lol.
3.) 05 Aug 2024 13:54:45
The rest of what he said
I notice that you are focused a lot on new signings! ”
“I am focused on the tour, how we played, what we need to improve and what we did well.
Like I said, the bar is really high for new signings because we have so many good players.
“It is not so easy to first find a player to meet those standards and then ask, ‘is he available? ’.
“Then we have to find an agreement with them, so it is not always easy to find a player who can help us but Richard is working hard on it and let’s see what comes from this. ”
The best way to judge it is when we have all the players back and we still haven’t, but a club like Liverpool always keeps its eye open to see what’s available.
For players that can strengthen the squad and that is what we – Richard mostly but me as well – are looking to do.
“But that is not particular to one position. We constantly evaluate the squad where we can do something and what we have.
“We have a good platform to build from and not just because of this tour, Jurgen left this squad in a very good place, I think I said that before.
“Now it is up to us to keep performing like Liverpool did for so many years. ”.
4.) 05 Aug 2024 14:14:21
Window isn’t shut yet but if there’s no signings then it’s clear the clubs ambitions under slot are just tick along and wait for (hope for) Xabi Alonso.
5.) 05 Aug 2024 14:23:36
It sends a shiver down my spine, JK.
6.) 05 Aug 2024 14:35:41
We seem to be the only squad in the world where every summer they say things like it’s impossible to improve on our squad because it’s so good.
Why do Arsenal and City manage to find players to sign then? I assume they can’t be as good as us so we should expect to win the quadruple this season I suppose!
7.) 05 Aug 2024 14:49:03
Gravenberch As a DM! You got to be joking he didn’t want to run a his favoured position last season so him having to run and tackle is absolutely to protect our defensive is not going to work.
8.) 05 Aug 2024 15:17:26
Love this idea. He has all the attributes to blossom there.
Fingers crossed Slot can get it working and Grav believes in himself.
9.) 05 Aug 2024 15:28:20
And people say I am too negative. Also isn't Alonso a cert to take the Real Madrid job?
10.) 05 Aug 2024 16:05:19
When you say attributes, FarmerFC, do you mean the ability to back out of tackles and not put a shift in?
11.) 05 Aug 2024 16:13:06
I said last summer when we were first linked with Gravenberch that I liked him as a DM in a "double pivot". He hasn't played there much for a few years now but I think his best ever football was in a two man sitting midfield at Ajax next to Edson Alvarez (now of West Ham) .
He just doesn't have good enough close control to be receiving a pass in the final 3rd with his back to players or evento receive a pass on the run as he then takes a heavy touch and is just reaching for the ball which makes his 2nd touch a 50/ 50. He needs to be receiving it in the middle of the park where he has the space to spin out of a challenge and then use his long strides to catch up to his heavy touch and lay it off. His awareness of what's around him is very good which is why he is so press resistant, and he has a good incisive passing range. He would absolutely need to work on his defensive abilities, but for me, playing as one of the two 6's in Slot's system is the only way he has a future at Liverpool. He's not good enough in tight spaces to challenge Elliott, Macca or Szoboszlai for the AM role.
Playing as deep lying midfielder as two 6's is what got him global recognition and led to him being bought by Bayern Munich, so it tracks that we'd get the best out of him by taking him back to what he does best. He never really fit in with Klopp's midfield three of two wide 8's and a lone 6. Slot's midfield three of two 6's and a 10 though, is much more his kettle of fish.
12.) 05 Aug 2024 17:59:01
Confidence goes a long way Rome.
The boy has vagas of potential and the physique to flourish in the role. It's a gods job you aren't the one trying to boost his self belief. All the best to the very young lad. I'll be rooting for him.
13.) 05 Aug 2024 18:59:59
This is why I don't put too much stock in what managers say in the media. Klopp used to say the exact same things in the exact same situations and people used to lose their minds on this forum specifically. It never meant he wasn't looking to sign a player in the position he needed to.
IMO, Slot is in the same position hence saying the same things since we have been looking at DM's, per Ed02. Ignore what managers say. Watch what they actually do. Or don't do.
14.) 05 Aug 2024 19:59:28
Personally if the right players aren’t available then don’t sign anyone. Use the kids for the squad. Let’s be honest all the kids coming in haven’t looked out of place and a few look like absolute worldies. Spending 30-50 million on a player not guaranteed to start makes no sense at all. If van dyke, Trent and Salah are all staying for one more season then let’s enjoy them for one more year and plan to sign replacements next season, if the right player is avail of course I want to sign them, but if we go into the season with the squad we have I’ll still be happy, we’ll challenge for all honours and who knows… I think our squad can compete and I think quansah, Bradley, Elliot, Nunez and gakpo could further improve have very good seasons. Klopp left a very good squad and I can see why Slot is cautious to buy players with potentially lower ceilings than these guys.
15.) 05 Aug 2024 20:12:36
I hope you're right, Farmer. I've just not seen it, I'm afraid. Everyone I go to games with feel the same, so I hope I'm proven wrong. He'll have my 100% support at games and I don't think he'll be dipping into this site to read what I've got to say about him.
16.) 05 Aug 2024 20:30:18
Why not Gravenberch?
Clean slate for ALL the players.
17.) 05 Aug 2024 21:45:23
I know it was only a friendly but Gravenberch was the best player on the pitch first half against United.
18.) 05 Aug 2024 22:14:27
I think his quality goes under the radar at times Rome. He absolutely could do more but his attributes are there and he has the physique and ball retention. It's all on him to grab it and have some self belief. There are no garuntees. It's down to him.
19.) 05 Aug 2024 23:14:50
how have we built the squad that we have currently if we're never able been able to add players in any transfer window.
20.) 06 Aug 2024 02:45:16
Dear God, we should just buy someone, anyone, to stop the overthinking.
Slot said RG had a hood game - he is nailed on as one of our double pivots
Slot substitutes RG in the next pre-season friendly, RG is nailed on to be sold to Galataseray ….
When’s everyone going on their summer hold and where are you going?
21.) 06 Aug 2024 02:48:22
Oh, oh, oh, pick me @Faith - is it by selling players and sending others out on loan?
05 Aug 2024 10:34:09
Ed's what do you think of Carvalho in preseason I know it's difficult as it's only really a training programme for fitness but he looks to me like he could really do a job in the AM or forward positions, do you think he might well have a future under Slot or will he be moved on?
{Ed001's Note - I expect him to move on. He may have played well in preseason, but his attitude over the past couple of seasons has left a lot to be desired.}
1.) 05 Aug 2024 16:41:57
I tnk we would want 25m (including add ons which are actually achievable) with future sell ons. but im not really good in finances. But i do agree with ed1, he gives coutinho vibes for some reason.

I think the club already cut bait with him last season. In fact, Ed02 already said that if a suitable offer comes that meets the club's evaluation, the kid is outta here.

Varela not happening at them numbers Vango. Be interested in how things have been conducted with his agent we have been speaking to the last week or so.

Kloppiche I think he can play back 3 or as a left sided CB. I just don’t quite get it as he only arrives if Virgil moves but Virgil can play very single game on the prem, cups and Europe.

If we are pushing for Iancio and there isn’t anyway he arrives with VVD staying then surely means Virgil is on his way.

Ed002 we all feel we’ve wasted 2 weeks chasing a player who didn't want to leave his boy hood club. Now left with a week before the season starts and no time to go after anyone else unless I am wrong.
{Ed002's Note - There is the rest of the month to sort out transfers. For example, agreeing to the demands of Rabiot would put Liverpool ahead of others.}

Ed025 I also recall you stating that Pickford was as good as Alisson mate and look how that one turned out. One has gone on to win everything and the other is battling to avoid relegation every season.
{Ed025's Note - it was a wind up DTD, of course he is not as good as Alisson he is just a shot stopper who is pretty good with his feet mate..

Just wow Ed001. I’ve read your match report and everything you said is spot on. You have a real knack of explaining exactly how things are on the field yoir analysis is 100% accurate. For me Ed001 you are right up there with true world leaders. Thank you mat.
{Ed001's Note - now I am blushing!}
