Woah. Ornstein, among others, saying fsg are putting us up for sale. Seems to be confusion wether it’s a full sale or merely looking for investment. Eds have anything on this?
{Ed002's Note - "Investment" is always a little misleading in that the money would to FSG for selling their shares rather than the club. As such, it is true that they are looking to sell as they cannot get the income they want from the sale of part of the club. You will see a push from Redbird who have already purchased a quantity of FSG assets.}

Looks like we’re appealing maccas red card. Thoughts? Part of me thinks the fa is too prideful to accept the appeal.

Never a red card. If it's not over turned the PGMOL need dismantling and rebuilding from the ground up. Not one person who has ever played football would say that is a red card. When even anti-Liverpool Shearer is saying it's shocking, you know we've been stitched up. Just seen an even worse red card for Tomiyasu as well by the way. Think he breathed on Ayew a bit hard and got a 2nd yellow.
The standard of refereeing is embarrassing in this country. Abuse if we talk about it though. Can dissect a players poor performance but refs are immune to criticism now. Over protected babies.

Second yellow was a joke. It was also pretty clear obstruction and a set play to obstruct for arsenals pen. The non pen call for palace is a bit of shocker it wasn't looked at. I have completely given up on vAR.

I disagree with the red but I don't think the FA should overturn it.
They need to stick with the objective facts - late (just), high contact and there is enough studs showing to make the case.
I just rekon if they overturn it, it would be too subjective.

Faith he caught the guy on the ankle it was not high at all. He also didn’t go in stamping motion it was a side foot and the guys follow through clattered into his foot.
We see these ‘fouls’ all the time when a defender is clearing a ball and the attacker tries to block it with the defender’s follow through kicking the studs of the attacker. It’s one of the biggest bug bares of mine as it’s not even a foul but gets given every time.
If someone jumps in, studs showing, with force then yes it’s a red card. Macca’s was definitely not that. At most is was a yellow but I’d even say that would be questionable.

also if Maccas foot was high enough to warrant a card, by hitting the other players foot, surely his was too high as well and should also merit some form of punishment.

If the Bournemouth player had not gone down, the referee wouldn’t have brandished a red or even a yellow. He reacted on the player rolling around on the ground. Thing is the referee only sees it once so it was down to VAR to inform him it weren’t a vicious tackle and certainly weren’t a red. Problem is I cannot see the FA overturning this out of sheer misguided pride on their part.

It was the Bournemouth player who was using force and being reckless, if he hadnt done so he would of been late and not got the ball first. Mac wasn't the one running into the tackle and actually tried to pull out.

I think we're talking fine margins and timing. Unfortunately Mac didn't touch the ball and collected his opponents leg. because the ball was high it doesn't look good because obviously Mac's foot is high to challenge the ball.
But, as I said, I don't think it was a red. I just think if you break down the objective bits then to me it's kinda difficult to overturn this one. Hope they do tho.

It won’t be rescinded as then the refs will need to admit they made a mistake. They won’t let their egos get in the way of their incompetence.

Did Gakpo not get studs in the chest last season against Villa - no red card there, yet this one was. It is the sheer inconsistency of these decisions that are killing the game
Every other week something like this happens. PGMOL comes out, sometimes Dermot Gallagher gets up too and they then explain how this was the correct decision according to the rules of the game. Then a week or 2 later, same thing happens and the completely opposite decision is taken and again we have these people explaining how that decision was correct according to the rules of the game - no mention how it was identical to the previous one but yeah, whatever.
Interestingly though on this one even Dermot Gallagher did not think it was a red card. Every pundit I have seen watching it has stated it was a completely wrong decision, but will it be overturned?
Just because everybody else that watches these decisions each week and criticises them for being incorrect does not mean that the PGMOL will too - the fact that they see something completely different to every other fan or pundit watching all these incidents is precisely the problem that is simply not being addressed.

I disagree, Faith. That was never a red card and I have not seen anyone (except some guy on an LFC podcast spouting dust) say it was a red. The ref who was having a good game till that point, lost his marbles and did too much.
As for the PGMOL sticking to the facts, are you serious? The guys lie endlessly to protect themselves all the time. Nah, appeal it as there is a good chance it gets reduced if not rescinded completely even tho, I don't see the latter happening.

Well Ed25, the independent panel disagrees with you. Like I said, I didn't think it could be overturned not cos it was not a red cos clearly it wasn't. I thought so cos the PGMOL are smug as heck. Just happy that cooler heads have prevailed.
{Ed025's Note - i was surprised it was overturned as well Oli, its admission that the referee was incompetent for me and that VAR has no place in football in its present state, because if they thought it was an obvious error they should have asked the referee to look at the monitor, otherwise whats the point of it mate?..

@Retro, try using Vipleague. st it normally offers multiple streams, only thing is to watch out regarding your preferred search engine which could block access.
Using Brave search engine it can be accessed, maybe play with safe search or regional search options, eg search via Vietnam.

How much day does a player have in them being selected as fit or not fit? Do clubs ever take a players word or are there rigorous tests on top of the med dept having in-depth info on their players. Not really talking about the Phil-my-back-aches-for-Barca situation but genera more like keita always being unfit.

We have a replacement that seems relatively comparable in skill and that the fans are already behind. Should be said he’s no Ali and kelleher could go either way still so it’s a gamble that could work out or crash and burn dramatically.

I’m not convinced it’s real. Either way though they realized they had made such an error and they can’t go back because play had been started you think the ref would have given the penalty on Gomez in at least a minor effort to rectify.
