Reports that we are still pushing for MZ. Who would you rather have him or RG.
1.) 03 Sep 2024 20:17:16
Both.
2.) 03 Sep 2024 20:23:08
Both.
3.) 03 Sep 2024 20:45:48
Jinx. exact same too with big B and fullstop.
4.) 03 Sep 2024 20:53:58
Who and who?
5.) 03 Sep 2024 22:49:39
MZ can FO as far as I’m concerned.
You snooze you lose.
6.) 03 Sep 2024 23:29:52
Both with bajcetic coming back next year move on Jones and Endo.
7.) 04 Sep 2024 00:22:49
Happy that we missed out on Zubimendi. Not desperate for him as we have Macca who I think he is more similar too.
Rather have someone like Grav play the role as he is now because he has great balance of key attributes that we need in PL. - good with ball, physical, powerful runner, good in air etc
Not sure Zubimendo would bring the same athleticism that he’d need to thrive in PL. maybe playing next to someone like Grav then he could do well similar to how it helps unlock Macca.
8.) 04 Sep 2024 01:38:42
I have not watched Zubimendo, and if he is considered as similar to Macca, I would say no thank you.
Sometimes, Macca shortcoming, ie his lack of speed is causing heart in mouth moment. Too many of that is no good for supporters.
9.) 04 Sep 2024 05:23:21
I trust Slot to make the best choice.
10.) 04 Sep 2024 07:08:59
West Derby Wanderer3-Exactly. They know a thing or two about the game and what would enhance the side.
I imagine that Zubimendi provides options that the others don't and or that it is likely, as the Ed's have suggested, that Alexis may be off next summer due to a release clause.
11.) 04 Sep 2024 07:23:11
You can never have too many good footballers . I wonder if by jan if sociedad are nowhere near European spots and no mega contract he was promised has materialised whether he will agitate the move or the mountains are just that nice he’s their forever.
12.) 04 Sep 2024 07:25:57
@vango if that’s the case I’d be getting Mac-Ali a new contract as he is just pure class loads got the plaudits on Sunday but thought he just done everything with minimum fuss and flair and was excellent.
13.) 04 Sep 2024 10:43:48
Adam Wharton.
14.) 04 Sep 2024 11:01:43
Think i can remember there's NO release clause in Macca's contract.
15.) 04 Sep 2024 11:54:50
Eds have mentioned 2025/ Real Madrid on numerous occasions in relation to Alexis.
16.) 04 Sep 2024 12:23:23
I'm not really interested in Zubimendi anymore. Regardless of what the truth is in terms of what happened behind closed doors to kill the deal.
The absolute abundance of joy Chiesa showed throughout the whole process of interest first being shown by us right through to him posing for media duties was a breath of fresh air. If players aren't that desperate and happy to join us in future, then I don't want them!
17.) 04 Sep 2024 16:55:23
Just because Real Madrid might be interested in Mac-Allister doensn't mean we are willing to sell him. We will probably issue a hands off warning or ask a very very high fee because there is no release clause in his contract pricing out of a move basically!
Tchoumeni, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Guler + others.
Where does he actually fit in? Maybe he prefers to be a key player and a starter for us, rather than a bench warmer in Spain, but i don't know him personally!
18.) 04 Sep 2024 17:47:33
Zubimendi and Gravenberch actually would have similar functions in the team, which would be to turn defence to attack in a heartbeat, Zubimendi has the same knack of creating space with one touch and then having the composure to decide what the best play would be, to carry the ball or pick the best available pass forward. Gravenberch to me seems more of an athlete, Zubimendi more of a playmaker. I think Zubimendi is an absolute top class player, but at this rate if Graveberch keeps going on like this he would perform the same function at the level we need.
The only reason to buy Zubimendi is so we can rotate them or so we can play them both in the double pivot with Mac Allister playing Szoboszlai's roaming 10 role, though Mac Allister doesn't have the same pace, power, strength and mobility as Szoboszlai to play that weird 6/ 8/ 10 role that he's been playing, he would be closer to a specialist 10 with shades of an 8, like Elliott.
19.) 04 Sep 2024 19:39:47
If MacAllister wants Madrid then cool, let him go.
Trust the club would insist on Tchoumanieni or Giles or Rodrygo plus cash in exchange ??.
20.) 04 Sep 2024 20:32:40
I know Endo is out of favour these days at Liverpool, but that performance he put in against Man City at Anfield was one of the best I've seen from a defensive midfielder in a while. De Bruyne just couldn't get on the ball and Guardiola had to make the decision to sub him.
I'm really looking forward to the Liverpool Man City games this season. With Klopp and Guardiola it was always chaos versus control, and I think Klopp just edged the head-to-head record between the two. Slot versus Guardiola with this new look Gravenberch midfield is going to be fascinating.
21.) 04 Sep 2024 20:45:21
Gravenberch is probably tasked with being the most disciplined positionally, and with his athleticism he's able to cover a lot of ground, he's leggy and long in stride, so is able to break lines in a way that isn't ideal for someone in that position (the best ones are usually shorter in stature, scurriers, who don't stride out of position so they'll leave space behind them) - but this Liverpool are a bit different, and everyone has to work hard to get back - there is no onus just on Gravenberch in the way there is on Casemiro for United, where Fernandes, Rashford, the blonde lad who is decent going forward, none work backwards much - and when they do it is more for effect and their own 'see I just did that' to the crowd (Fernandes does this a lot, and it is utterly, utterly pointless), than as part of a pattern of play. Viera wasn't just a destroyer, he was a good player in his own right, and there is a bit of that by lazy comparison.
I still think Liverpool will miss a top drawer no.6 in the biggest of games. They have only played Ipswich (will be fighting relegation), Brentford (solidly mid-table at the end of the year) and Man Utd (around top 8, they'll hope for top 4 but unlikely) - against Arsenal, City, and Spurs/ Villa/ Chelsea it will be more of an ask of Gravenberch.
What they were doing offering £100m+ for Caicedo though I've no idea. Genuinely believe apart from very vey rare exceptions, there is no good business done in leathering out those sort of fees unless you KNOW a player can transform your team (Van Dijk for example) or they are Lionel Messi. - In todays game it's very rare an individual can have that sort of disproportionate effect on a team - a Suarez effect if you will. Who was also extraordinary.
{Ed025's Note - extraordinarily cannibalistic you mean Vango, he was a stain on Lliverpools reputation mate and a complete and utter scum bag...or did you mean in some other way?..
22.) 04 Sep 2024 21:18:48
In a footballing sense, Suarez could elevate a team single handledly, like few can. I reckon most reds would have been happy to see him and costa play together for a few seasons, had David Rogers not opted for Benteke instead.
A bad apple yes, a bit like maradonna in some ways, but beautiful to watch in full flow.
{Ed025's Note - a "bad apple" Vango?...no mate a bloody orchard full, very good player i will give you that but thats far outweighed by what a low life piece of crap he was as a human, not a bit like Maradona my friend, more akin to Hitler, Pol Pot or Idi Amin to me..
23.) 04 Sep 2024 21:44:23
HAAA. Its true that there have been few humans in the game as poorly behaved as he was-he mkes vinnie jones look like a a blue peter presenter.
Costa was an ass too, can you imagune what that would have been like as a pairing. Rogers might actually have won something had he opted for costa over benteke.
{Ed025's Note - it would be like Dracula and Frankenstein as a front 2 mate.. :)
24.) 05 Sep 2024 01:53:14
Suarez was a great player for us but a total prick also.
Not a patch on Maradona who was the nearest thing to a “one man team”. No footballer compares to him.
25.) 05 Sep 2024 06:57:25
Ed025's Franenstien had a heart at least. That would have made Dicks and ruddock look like the crankies.
{Ed025's Note - good point Vango..
26.) 05 Sep 2024 10:30:57
In answer to the original post, Gravenberch has worked his arse off and it is evident that he’s desperately keen to show what he’s made of. Fair play to him.
Whereas Zubimendi would rather gaze longingly at some mountains and play for a mid table side in Spain than take a chance. F that guy.
27.) 05 Sep 2024 13:48:00
Just weighing in on the Suarez thing, it is possible to gauge a person on their positives and negatives separately, one doesn't necessarily need to detract from the other.
Utter T@? Yes. One of the most talented and exciting players to ever wear the LFC shirt? Also yes!
28.) 05 Sep 2024 14:15:00
@Victor, is that you saying you were wrong about us signing RG then? I believe he was, before he was played in his proper position and had three good games, that you basically thought that he was useless?
Your one sentence summary of a life choice on an individual who (having won the European Championship with Spain) let’s not forget) is settled and happy where he lives, makes you sound like a little boy stamping his foot at the lolly shop when his mummy wouldn’t buy him what he wanted.
29.) 05 Sep 2024 19:49:53
How does that sound like a spoilt child? I’m saying why waste any energy or time on a player who messed us about in the summer (initially telling us he was keen to move then changing his mind after we’d gone and briefed the press), who clearly has no interest in playing for us, nor has the mentality to play for us. Pining for him to sign for us or demanding the owners do something about it would be acting like a child having a tantrum. I’m saying leave him be, don’t waste any more time on him. F him.
As for Gravenberch, it’s absolutely true that he failed at Munich, he was also a player under the wing of Mino Raiola, with was never a good sign (see Sancho and various others) . He was indifferent last year, which is being generous, so the signs weren’t good for him and playing such a crucial role.
However, he’s stepped up and shown what he’s made of, which he deserves enormous credit for. I’m happy that he’s proven me wrong and I’m happy to change my view on him and I can only repeat the words of the economist John Maynard Keynes, “When my information changes, I change my mind. What do you do, sir? ”.
30.) 06 Sep 2024 08:26:26
The answer to that final question is "I don't talk crap in the first place".
How about our invisible midfield that gets walked through?
How's that working out?
31.) 06 Sep 2024 08:53:42
It’s been 3 games FLR, for goodness sake. Just enJoy the results and how we are playing. If it was a marathon we wouldn’t even have passed The mile post. Relax.
32.) 06 Sep 2024 10:16:47
Relax Mark? I'm one of the most chilled guys on the site.
Viktor was posting 20 times a day about how certain players were crap and we had a non existent midfield that would repeatedly be walked through like he was some sort of bona fide football oracle.
When he's completely wrong it leaves him open to ridicule.
There's a lesson there for anyone who posts negative crap obsessively.
29 Aug 2024 19:37:21
Apparently Marc Guehi expected to leave CP tomorrow to where I don't know?
1.) 29 Aug 2024 19:53:02
For the price that’s being thrown around I would rather go all out for Bastoni - I know there is no chance but we can dream!
2.) 29 Aug 2024 20:03:12
Good player but his not worth the 70m CP want for him.
3.) 29 Aug 2024 20:08:45
Is Marc Guehi good in the air?
4.) 29 Aug 2024 20:27:08
It will be above 70M didn’t Newcastle offer £65M + 5M add ons so it’s stupid money for him especially when you think 75M got VVD, I know the market has moved on since then but surely a younger player would be better suited for Liverpool.
5.) 29 Aug 2024 20:42:03
Personally I can only see this happening if Gomez is going the other way. Let's see what Tomorrow brings.
6.) 29 Aug 2024 20:42:49
Think he has a pilots license but I’ve never seen him fly a plane.
04 Jul 2024 15:47:17
ed2 i think i recall you said that you think carvalho would likely be sold. Maybe we should look to do a deal with Hull in exchange for Jadon philogene.
{Ed002's Note - Why? Liverpool has no interest in him.}
1.) 05 Jul 2024 19:48:04
Bad scouting then.
27 Jan 2024 12:35:22
My guess is the next Liverpool manager is already done and dusted. You don't lose all the back room staff and the DOF unless the incoming manager wants to bring his own team in.
1.) 27 Jan 2024 15:06:16
I ve already accepted Acered. They were impressed by my commentary on here to get in touch in the first place then I blew them away with my "I'm never wrong" presentation.
Ed001 will be my assistant manager and head of analysis. Sgynwa is his assistant.
Ed002 will be DOF. He will always be in a shadow so we never find out who he is. But he ll have the whole thing running like clockwork.
Negative Walter will be medic. What do you mean he'll be two years out? It's a hamstring injury.
Ed25, first team coach. Also never wrong.
Lukyanyew, head of recruitment. You know why
Dream team assembled!
2.) 27 Jan 2024 18:56:49
Think I may have it in the bag - just got my first coaching role, started late December. Clearly been making waves.
3.) 27 Jan 2024 23:12:58
The Sporting manager or Alonso are the ones who seem to fit the bill. FSG have chosen their model, and that need's to be continued with a manager that develops young players.
Considering I was desperate for us to sign Caicedo, who i still think will come good at some point, I am much happier seeing players like Quansah and Bradley coming through than in spending 115m on a player who may well not settle. I am sold on FSG's approach, provided we keep developing top young talent AND giving them opportunities to actually play for the first team. Quansah and Bradley look like they could go to the very top, and nothing makes me happier in football than seeing these youngsters thrive.
4.) 28 Jan 2024 01:40:31
Lol love it Davey, what a team.
5.) 28 Jan 2024 02:11:04
Davey - you need a throw in coach and I'm your man!
6.) 28 Jan 2024 05:11:10
While I did love a role at the club, we may very well last shorter than Roy Hodgson! Let’s love our club and adhere to a proverb I hear in where I live: there’s beauty in distance ?.
18 Jan 2023 19:52:51
We have the new Pedro on our hands.
1.) 18 Jan 2023 20:08:57
The former Barcelona and Chelsea winger? Who?
2.) 18 Jan 2023 20:09:29
The liberator or the magnanimous.
3.) 18 Jan 2023 20:49:32
The guy from Napoleon Dynamite?
4.) 19 Jan 2023 07:50:31
If vote for him VVVV.
5.) 19 Jan 2023 09:25:27
To be fair, I’d vote for him too Burkey.

My thoughts on the MZ saga
1/ we were disappointed we didn't sign him
2/ Real had a player last week who this week they have to cough up a rubbish load of cash to keep the same player
3 M Z will be watching champions league on his TV.
1.) 15 Aug 2024 08:11:36
He gets paid more to stay at his boyhood club an extra 12 months before making his dream move to Barcelona. I’m pretty sure he will be watching with a smile on his face!
2.) 15 Aug 2024 10:43:29
12 months is an awfully long time in football.
05 Aug 2024 19:58:04
I think slots biggest problem is the Bradley Trent situation both deserve to start.
1.) 05 Aug 2024 21:00:58
Starting place is earned, not deserved.
2.) 05 Aug 2024 21:13:47
The biggest problem is our 3 best outfield players haven’t signed new contracts yet.
3.) 05 Aug 2024 21:29:11
For me only one deserves to start and it's not Trent. Trent can be an ok replacement if Bradley gets injured or his form drops.
For me Trent has proven over the years he's a liability at RB.
Maybe Mr Slot can get Trent playing in a new role and get him playing to a standard he all hoped he could reach.
4.) 05 Aug 2024 21:43:35
Slot doesn’t negotiate the contracts.
5.) 05 Aug 2024 21:47:59
I understand and completely agree in Peps system NegRed, but perhaps the double pivot will restore the protection Trent previously had with Klopp's style and we will see the best of him from RB again.
6.) 05 Aug 2024 23:30:05
@Negative, Trent was poor for only one season overall and that was in 22/ 23 and last season, he was injured for a 3rd of the season and was inverting the whole time so him being poor "over the years" is not really true if you are referring to just a two-year period, IMO.
IMO last season before his injury (which hampered him a lot after he came back), Trent was as one of the best RB's in the league along with Walker (who is even more useless defensively) shutting down the likes of Mitoma and more than contained Doku amongst others.
We will see who starts or maybe they will be rotated. Not worried cos both are very good players and if they are put in a system to cover for them half the time like Klopp did with Trent, they either one could very well kick on, IMO.
7.) 06 Aug 2024 00:50:43
Imagine what we could have won if we had a proper RB all this while. Like we would have won the League, Champions League, Club World Cup, FA Cup, and the Carling Cup if Trent hadn't been holding us. Oh wait. ;)
8.) 06 Aug 2024 02:14:01
Nice one Dracred. The first few lines almost got me :D.
9.) 06 Aug 2024 02:17:49
"Trent can be an ok replacement"
Thank you Walter I really appreciate the humour you bring lol lol lol.
10.) 06 Aug 2024 02:40:11
Oddly I absolutely agree with @Victor - players earn their place on form in matches and training. Nobody should be a guaranteed starter. Bradley is the current right back and has performed well in pre-season. It’s up to Trent to try and shift him, on merit.
11.) 06 Aug 2024 07:25:52
Get the new contract agreed, and let things play out. Bradley is as good a youngster as there is in world football.
Trent's stats / assists speak for themselves.
{Ed025's Note - i think Bradley is a good up and coming youngster with potential Vango, to label him as good as there is in world football is doing him no favours though mate, just let him try to improve and become a good right back first instead of piling pressure on the guy with over the top expectations..
12.) 06 Aug 2024 09:12:07
I don’t understand how the Trent / Bradley situation is a “problem” they are both very good and offer different things. I agree with Ed, we don’t need to put pressure on Bradley and the benefit of having Trent is that we can bleed Bradley through. There will be plenty of games for both this season. People always talk about have two good players for every position and now that we do at RB it is suddenly a problem…. very funny!
{Ed025's Note - im with you MOT..
13.) 06 Aug 2024 09:20:38
Bradley has all the attributes to be a very good full back, butis still young and still learning his trade. He will get his fair share of game time this season but needs to be managed and not put unnecessary pressure and expectations on his shoulders.
{Ed025's Note - exactly Jimmy..
14.) 06 Aug 2024 11:30:23
Once again I find it amazing that we won every trophy an English club can win with a "liability" like Trent playing right back basically every game.
15.) 06 Aug 2024 16:51:52
SR, you ain't never lied. The worse thing is that, not a soul was saying a darn thing about Trent being you know, "The Liability" at RB when we swere killing it and winning trophy after trophy. But as soon as things got sticky and he was having a bad spell, the fangs came out for him.
Suddenly it seemed those who had it in him for since he came into the team (yet never said a word when we were winning with him) suddenly found their voices. Some of the stuff I read about him are things I can't even repeat on here. Strange, indeed.
16.) 06 Aug 2024 10:08:12
A liability who was instrumental in us winning every club trophy available. Not a bad liability in my opinion.
17.) 06 Aug 2024 17:58:42
The only issue with Trent as an RB now is the presence of Bradley. He's a very good player who plays the same position and we have to make sure we don't lose him. If he continues his current trajectory, I think we have a season, maybe two, where we can rotate both in one position.
But the hype around Bradley is the same as was around Trent 5 years ago. So in a few years' time after we've sold Trent to Madrid for £80m is Bradley going to get pelters from the fans whilst Trent wins everything? Build 'em up, knock 'em down?
18.) 06 Aug 2024 21:17:20
If Trent can't play in the pivot role then I think we would be better selling because slot really doesn't play raking passes from the back. Rather like pep used to be he'd much rather you **** up a short pass than play long ones. The right and left back positions in slot teams are both very defensive and don't do much attacking at all. Since everyone thinks trents rubbish at defending it doesn't make much sense to play him there.
In the pivot role he wouldn't be asked to do much defending (it's literally what the inverted full back is for) so he would have job of retaining and recycling possession.
19.) 06 Aug 2024 21:29:54
Just to point out I was saying the same about Trent when we was winning things.
For me I want him to do well for us but I also feel he might just be the most overrated player in the Premiership.
The odd free kick goal and a few Hollywood passes a season doesn't quite cut it for me.
20.) 06 Aug 2024 21:31:27
I wonder if Bradley could be utilised as a right winger too. He's played there for NI. He reminds me of Gerrard a bit in that he could play anywhere and still be good.
{Ed025's Note - bloody hell BC i hate all this trying to shoehorn players into different positions mate...i dont see the point in it, if Bradley is good full back then just leave him there and let him hone his skills, if Salah handled the ball on the line would you want him to take Alisson.s place?, come on mate..
21.) 07 Aug 2024 00:18:32
Steady Ed, remain calm ? it’s only right that you find a RB with exceptional potential and immediately decide to turn him into a winger ….
{Ed025's Note - its like when we were kids with jumpers for goalposts WDW, just play where you want...i cant be doing with it mate..
22.) 07 Aug 2024 13:24:16
Don't be daft Ed025 - the Salah handball thing is a nonsense analogy and makes no sense. Bradley is immense going forward and he's been excellent in that position for NI. I can imagine you telling the Spurs coaches not to transition Bale to a winger. because you aren't supposed to do that sort of thing! Everyone should stay in their rigidly defined boxes and never leave.
{Ed025's Note - im just not a fan of moving players around for the sake of it BC, centre halves moving into midfield, full backs becoming wingers and midfielders becoming false 9,s, stick to what your good at i say, but ED001 does tell me that Bradley was originally a winger but i have only seen him at right back and he has performed very well there i must say..
01 Aug 2024 20:26:53
Rip Craig Shakespeare shocked.
1.) 01 Aug 2024 21:02:09
Yes, been ill for a while. RIP.
26 Mar 2024 18:49:30
This is going to go down really well but if anyone actually took the time to watch a certain style of football Lee carsley would be right up there. I'm waiting.
1.) 26 Mar 2024 21:11:54
A manager going from England u21 to one of the biggest club jobs in football. What could possibly go wrong?
2.) 26 Mar 2024 23:07:26
You jumped too high there Acered.
I hope he takes the Irish job though.
3.) 27 Mar 2024 01:32:32
I'll have whatever you're having mate.
4.) 27 Mar 2024 11:37:25
Acered, these are essentially kids playing junior inter'l football. Come on, man.
5.) 27 Mar 2024 11:37:56
Greggs are hiring.
6.) 27 Mar 2024 18:09:58
We will see never said he is ready for LFC but certainly has something about him and Salah you couldn’t have what I’m on mate.
13 Dec 2023 14:16:54
Any news on Baj anyone? Would be great to see him back again.
1.) 13 Dec 2023 17:47:06
Jürgen said he needs to grow into his body and it will take a lot of time as he is only a boy. I remember some posters earlier in the year saying he should be playing every game, Buffoons.
2.) 13 Dec 2023 19:21:18
Perhaps those people know better than Klopp ?.
3.) 13 Dec 2023 20:20:15
Dont think anyone said that, people were justifiably excited about a top kid coming through that's all.
4.) 13 Dec 2023 22:21:24
I think we overplayed him last season due to having a Midfield with the mobility of the front row of Mecca Bingo.
That’s where the injuries probably came from. Let him grow into the Baller we know he’s going to be.
23 Sep 2024 19:18:25
Thank goodness for that Chelsea wouldn’t even be looking at them.
02 Sep 2024 20:28:00
Report’s today that we are still looking To go back for M Z hope not let’s give R G some respect.
31 Aug 2024 03:15:43
Ah this all makes sense now as Richard Hughes is also a florist.
19 Aug 2024 19:15:43
Let’s just except nobody wants to sign for us. We will just have to win the league with what we have ?.
18 Aug 2024 11:58:29

I don’t think JB has played in either of your two opening game Ed 25 is that down to injury? Also if S D were to get sacked who would be your choice.
{Ed025's Note - he is injured at the moment Ace, who would i chose to replace Dyche is a tough one...anyone who is not going to turn us into Burnley..

Bradley is a far better midfielder now than Trent will ever be. It works with Trent at RB when we take control of a game and that allows him to push forward.
