Hi Eds, is Kieran Tierney from Celtic a left back target?

angus lee

{Ed001's Note - he is someone we have been looking at but he is not looking to move this summer.}

1.) 22 Jun 2017 07:02:06
It wil be creswell or Robertson.

2.) 22 Jun 2017 08:08:16
Gomez just use Gomez Milly can back up . Remember a certain no 23 started his education in the first team and as a full back .

3.) 22 Jun 2017 08:14:15
He was playing right back though and was right footed.

{Ed001's Note - Carra often played left back too.}

4.) 22 Jun 2017 08:22:30
Im just saying if the options were
Creswell?
Robertson?
Gomez?

5.) 22 Jun 2017 10:17:32
Just sign Luan, James Rodriguez, salah, kieta and just win 5-3 every game.

6.) 22 Jun 2017 10:43:08
Luan has scored 7 goals in the last 8 games. Having a great start in the Brazilian league. Some team in Europe will surely pick him up.

7.) 22 Jun 2017 11:24:52
Gomez already played left back under Rodgers and easy very good til his injury. Both saying that. Just buy a bloody quality left back to excite us!

8.) 22 Jun 2017 12:13:30
Although Carra is a legend at our club,

few people actually realise how good a player he really was.

At prem. And int. Level he played lb. Cb. Rb And central midfield.

Managers loved him as he could cover so many positions.

This talent became a curse for him at Int. Level as he was always in the aquad as cover but rarely played.

Some players can master 1 posistion to that level but to master 4 takes a special player.

9.) 22 Jun 2017 13:22:32
Could be Soares.

10.) 22 Jun 2017 15:34:33
Gomez said he'd rather fight for a CB place than play LB.

11.) 22 Jun 2017 16:10:26
He's right to concentrate on cb to avoid being a utility player.

But if it meant playing for LFC.
I would d play anywhere anytime.

What a life.

12.) 22 Jun 2017 09:41:05
Eds am I right in saying we have know interest in Creswell?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach for Cresswell.}

08 Nov 2015 04:17:17
hi eds, do you think we will sign a full back in january?

angus lee

{Ed001's Note - right now, I don't know, as Klopp is still making an assessment of the squad. The fact he tried Clyne at left back the other day does suggest he sees a weakness in cover there.}

1.) 08 Nov 2015 05:53:01
if we are going to sign one, who is your choice?

{Ed001's Note - it seems a left back is the one needed, so I would probably look at someone like Gaya, maybe Ricardo Rodgriguez, Ghoulam or even Wendell.}

2.) 08 Nov 2015 08:23:18
Ed01 do u see those players as first choice or back up to Moreno? I'm hoping with Jurgen here we do actually start putting a squad together that with his system in place the name on the shirt won't matter to a degree as all players will know and play there roles to the level required. Obviously it's nice to have great players but the gap between first choice and back up at the minute is worlds apart in some areas.

{Ed001's Note - depends on who plays best at the time.}

3.) 08 Nov 2015 08:47:08
I strongly advise against buying Ricardo Rodriguez who is defensively hopeless. And on top of that, he plays for Wolfsburg and would be costly.

Gaya is a at a similar level in experience and age to Moreno, and would perhaps cost more than Moreno, and would need time to adjust to the PL.

Wendell has half of Europe after him I think and has an excellent left foot, but defensively he is suspect IMO.

Which leaves Goulam and I think he is a good choice but I wouldn't know if he would move to be a squad player initially.

While it's too early to judge him, I like the look of MBabu at Newcastle.

4.) 08 Nov 2015 08:35:15
Ed what do you think about Andrew Robertson? Thought he did really well in the premier league and has been one of Hulls better players this season.

{Ed001's Note - I was not that impressed personally, he did well initially but then faded.}

5.) 08 Nov 2015 09:23:31
My concern when it comes to future transfers is really budgetary, over the last 5 years we havnt done to well and I know there will be changes and the quality should improve with klopps team now part of the committee. We know we have a decent amount of lads that can be promoted from youth team etc, and from his previous history we can, to a degree, presume Klopp will do this and wants to do this. Leaving me thinking that any players we might look at will be better than our current first 11, which is ideal but are we going to have the funds? If so, how do we to stay within FFP guidelines? Knowing the increase that's coming to premier league clubs at the end of the current season, I fear and expect that no matter what club goes to buy from outside the UK is going to be paying astronomical fee's for players, are the board going to release the funds to sign 2-3 players that in total we could be paying around 150 million pounds. I don't want to see another window with 8,9,10 players brought in, 2-3 quality signings is in my opinion, that counts for bigger all lol, is what we should be looking for but we, along with most premier league clubs, will pay a heavy premium for them and I just can't see it happening, not with the mistakes we have made in the past.

{Ed002's Note - The television money does not come at the end of this season - but next.}

6.) 08 Nov 2015 09:47:44
Cheers ed02, not sure why I thought it was end of current season, worrying about aspects of the club and game overall I shouldn't concern myself with to be honest. Guess I'm worried about if we do happen to crack top 4 and gain champs league we will be booted from it and fined heavily before we can play a game. Not quite that simple but that's why u guys know that stuff and we can just worry bout what happens on the pitch lol.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will need to rely on some income from the loans-to-buy before June 30 which is the critical date - and if they are looking to do any business in January then it needs to be funded from the same source or from sales.}

7.) 08 Nov 2015 17:14:30
Is Cresswell's stock rising at all? Can't say I've lots but what I have seen seems decent- certainly as a squad player.

8.) 09 Nov 2015 10:26:03
Hope we're keeping tabs on Amavi at Villa, looks quality.

Hi eds, supposed Lallana and Clyne to leave in next summer, do you think it will affect our transfer business to fill in home grown quota?

angus lee

{Ed002's Note - Clyne is of no relevance but Lallan is - and Liverpool need to look to HG players more as all clubs, as it remains possible the rules may change. Another option is to look to youngsters who can become HG.}

02 Sep 2017 06:34:54
Hi eds, how do you rate our transfer dealings this summer, as well as our competitors?

angus lee

{Ed025's Note - i think liverpool did ok angus but never addressed the main issues which was the defence, salah and solanke are good additions but the jury is still out on robertson, VVD and keita would have put you in with a good shout for the league i feel but you still have strong squad and im sure you will be up there fighting for one of the top 4 places, city and utd look to have done better business imo and have paid top dollar to get the players they needed, chelsea not so much but spurs landed a trio of good players on the final day which will also put them very much in the mix..

1.) 02 Sep 2017 08:15:30
As long as we are in the mix, I'm good with that.

2.) 02 Sep 2017 10:04:32
Hope gomez can step up.

12 Dec 2016 09:00:51
Hi eds, do you think we need to strengthen in january to finish in top 4?

angus lee

{Ed002's Note - No, but I am sure Liverpool will do something. I could not point to any first team squad player and say he needs replacing so it would be more likely to be depth.}

1.) 12 Dec 2016 09:26:22
How about a starting centre back to partner matip?

2.) 12 Dec 2016 10:44:47
If we buy anyone it needs to be someone to replace a first-teamer. You create quality/ experience in depth by recruiting players who relegate first-teamers to the bench. That is how the likes of Chelsea can have a strong bench, over the years they have sustained a good turnover of quality players to keep the first team and bench at a high standard. Fabregas is just one example. He's still very good, but not as good as he used to be, and Conte bought Kante to replace him. So now they have Kante running around on the pitch with Fabregas sitting on the bench ready for them if need be.

{Ed002's Note - Kante was not a replacement for Fabregas.}

3.) 12 Dec 2016 10:58:24
Maybe it depends on how you interpret 'replacement'. At the very least, Kante was bought as stiff competition for Fabregas, because ever since he rocked up, Fabregas has been on the bench.

{Ed002's Note - It was nothing to do with Fabregas Nick.}

4.) 12 Dec 2016 11:13:53
Well regardless of whether it directly had to do with Fabregas or not, doesn't Kante occupy the position Fabregas used to start in? I. e. next to Matic?

{Ed002's Note - You seem to be struggling with this Nick. Chelsea is not like Liverpool and are far more flexible with the squad. If you most obsess about him replacing someone, try Ramires.}

5.) 12 Dec 2016 12:24:39
Fair enough ed I'll take your word. Maybe not the best example but I think my overall point is valid.

{Ed002's Note - If your point is that Chelsea buy players to replace those who haven't left or who are not leaving then I struggle to agree Nick.}

6.) 12 Dec 2016 13:37:51
My point is that if you want to have a strong quality of depth then you need to focus on buying players that can improve the first team, not just buy players for the sole purpose of being back-ups.

7.) 12 Dec 2016 16:27:56
Who will be available in January that will improve us?
I can't think of many.

8.) 12 Dec 2016 22:13:57
That's the thing Dermot, we shouldn't rush and buy for the sake of it.

02 Nov 2014 07:08:07
Hi, eds, what's the reason u think BR sticks with 4231 which isn't work for Liverpool now?

angus lee

{Ed001's Note - because he is stubborn.}

corner kick is different from freekick.

angus lee

{Ed001's Note - still the same principle, you either hold up the kick from being taken or you accept it may be taken before you are ready.}

We could do with one more forward who can play across the front 3 and who can push the first choice trio if they lose form.

So ed002, who is your choice?

angus lee

{Ed002's Note - for me Laxalt gives a different perspective.}
