It's sad to see that the board are letting this run through to the rest of the season.
As long as I've supported Liverpool, I've felt an upset was always possible. Even when we weren't great. But this team has lost its fight. It's sad to be in a Champions League quarter final and just waiting to go out. That is NEVER what this club is about. Heck, most clubs would claw for an upset. For weeks we've been using the wrong word for what Slot has made us. We use the word passive.
That's too kind. The word you are looking for is submissive.
At this moment in time we are a submissive football club.
I can handle quality being lacking but this is unforgivable and Slot should be sacked immediately.
Arrangements should be made to ensure Edwards and Hughes follow as soon as a smooth handover can be made.
Let's get a new man in and have at PSG. We'll still be underdogs but I'd like to go into that game with real bite and see what they're truly made of.
04 Apr 2026 23:59:47
We need rid of Edwards, Hughes & Slot.
04 Apr 2026 22:43:01
And I’m sorry but if Alonso failed with Madrid's players what chance has he got with these? Jones thinks the whole thing's a laugh; it's like he won a competition to be there and half of them aren’t arsed.
Take the red tinted glasses off, guys. Gerrard and Alonso are not the answer with these clown type personalities on the squad. Remember prime Sakho getting binned to the U21s by Klopp?
04 Apr 2026 23:27:01
Sakho was never prime! Alonso wasn't given long enough at Madrid because Perez is a clown and wants instant results with his team of spoilt brats. It's worked in our favour because any football is better than the dross we are being served now.
04 Apr 2026 23:37:05
Clowns' personalities? The same clowns you thought were phenomenal last season under Klopp's tactics. The same clowns whose mentality, fitness and work rate was never once questioned under Klopp? Think about that for a minute and you'll realise it's not the players' fault they've lost the drive, they're fed up with playing for a fool who has no idea what he's doing, it's been clear as day for months now.
You can't compare the situation at Madrid to Liverpool.
The Bernabeu is full of absolute divas who aren't willing to lift a single one of their manicured fingernails if it's not for the sake of themselves. Xabi came in and tried to coach which was never going to work because that pack of handbags need a PR team, not a manager.
Anfield is not full of divas, the motivation hasn't been lost because of attitude problems, it's because of the months of frustration playing with a fraud at the helm.
04 Apr 2026 23:45:58
Szoboszlai looking for support and getting pissed off with the fans at the end of the game really pissed me off.
Get your heads out of your arses and put in a shift.
People paying hard earned cash to watch millionaires not turn up has run its course for me.
Also can't even speak about the non-entities that are Hughes, Edwards & Slot.
Club is rotting all the way through at the moment.
05 Apr 2026 00:01:35
I agree, Cantre. Who the hell does he think he is? He can go as well, can't stand these lot, me.
05 Apr 2026 00:01:55
Cantremember, In fairness to Szoboszlai, he's been putting in an unbelievable shift all season long. He deserves nothing but respect and has every right to be frustrated. He's head and shoulders above the rest and I really won't be surprised if he looks for a move, especially if Slot does stay.
05 Apr 2026 00:42:48
Open your eyes, Chewy. Half the players have had a bad attitude since Klopp left. Jones being one of the big culprits, always messing around. He thinks he's better than he is. I don't see Alonso getting a tune out of these lot. Macalister as well, he's given up, there's a few.
04 Apr 2026 22:39:31
Quickly turning into Man Utd, this is what happens when a prescence as big as Klopp leaves. I’m sure most of you would have seen it in a work environment, the big boss leaves and suddenly the little nobodies start piping up, getting cheeky and disrespecting authority and it makes the new guy's life awkward
No Gerrard or Alonso unless they’re bringing a Carragher type assistant who going to ruffle feathers, Luis Enrique should I be number one target; beautiful football and hard as nails
The main reason Klopp SAF Clough Pep all these top managers are so successful is because the players are terrified of them first are foremost and in a good way, scared because you know they aren’t afraid to scream in your face or grab you around the scruff of the neck but also respect.
Remember Klopp slamming his hand down at half time and screaming shut the f*** up at Milner of all people at half time? You really think Arne can manage these lot no chance.
04 Apr 2026 23:58:18
Hang on mate, in one post you're saying Alonso won't be able to make it work for us after he got sacked at Madrid for ruffling feathers, and the very next post you're demanding we bring in somebody who will ruffle feathers... so which is it? Both Alonso and Gerrard would do a lot more than ruffle feathers if they came in, I can tell you that.
Zero chance of getting Luis Enrique, still has a year left and PSG are a dominant force now, current French and European champions and every chance of doing it again, why would he leave that to play in the Europa League with an incredibly unstable club? Wind in your expectations.
05 Apr 2026 00:43:53
Alonso and Gerrard are nice guys, and Gerrard lost the dressing room at Villa. Luis Enrique is a much better option. Would you want Alonso or Gerrard if they had never played for us?
04 Apr 2026 21:28:18
I thankfully didn't see this today and I'm glad for it. Ekiteke swapped shirts with Cherki during the second half. To me that is a level of disrespect that is unforgivable, especially within the context of the game and its result today. It shows zero respect for the travelling supporters, all other supporters and the club itself. I'd have him out of the door in the morning if I had the capability regardless of his ability or quality.
I may be taking a high moral ground here and maybe sound ott, but it epitomizes the level of toxicity, discourse and disconnect that has been allowed to fester at the club since last summer. Disgraceful, abhorrent behaviour. End of personal rant.
04 Apr 2026 21:54:10
Ekitike was bang out of order.
04 Apr 2026 21:56:22
Yeah, I get that it was a bit distasteful and ignorant to the LFC fans, but I'd imagine it happens quite often, just most have the good sense to wait until the changing rooms to do it. They are probably mates with the French team, though, so whilst I agree it does look disrespectful and an indicator to the lack of professionalism, I don't think it was intentionally disrespectful, just careless.
04 Apr 2026 21:56:49
Massive over reaction, mate. Direct your anger at Slot, where it belongs. Ekitike was one of the few who played well today. He looked gutted when the camera panned to him, sat on the bench. Angry and gutted. He wasn’t wearing or even holding the Cherki shirt either.
I get it, it is bad optics, but what difference does it actually make if they swap shirts down the tunnel after full time? They’re mates who’ve played together for France for years.
There’s nothing to see here. You should be more fuming at Konate, Gomez, Gravenberch and Virgil, who put in absolutely no effort today, at all.
04 Apr 2026 22:00:46
Comes from the top. He wouldn't have dared do that if Klopp was the manager.
04 Apr 2026 22:04:45
Mk, I'm fuming at everyone. Ekitike was out of order. That's on him. End of.
04 Apr 2026 22:05:51
This is where Curtis should be laying down the law. The whole shebang needs stamping on. No discipline.
04 Apr 2026 22:07:40
Not bothered about two young lads changing tops, more bothered about the shocking state of affairs on the pitch.
{Ed025's Note - you are right Jerry..
04 Apr 2026 22:10:00
And Cherki?
He actually put Ekitike's shirt on whilst sat on the bench during the match.
It's a bad look from Hugo, definitely a lack of leadership from the coaches and the senior players. Hugo is a young player. He made a stupid mistake. Senior leadership is lacking in this team.
04 Apr 2026 22:11:57
Bloody hell, lads, cancel the lynch mob. There were a lot of things wrong with that game today. A player swapping his shirt didn't even make the top five of problems.
04 Apr 2026 22:13:31
Oops, that's Arsenal out of FA Cup as well.
04 Apr 2026 22:21:28
As an Arsenal, Liverpool, and Port Vale fan it's not been a good day for me.
{Ed025's Note - your scarf must be about 5 yards long JK.. :)
04 Apr 2026 22:22:02
Sorry, MKS. My attitude towards Slot's tenure is well versed on these pages and has been for a long time. This is a direct reflection of the type of attitude that is within the club. It most certainly matters that he did it in front of the supporters and TV cameras. All of the team, including the ones that you mentioned, were not fit for purpose today, including Ekitike, and to do what he did, when he did, and knowing that the team was being played off the park, shows a lack of respect and fight and heart.
He knows there's no repercussion coming from his manager when instead he absolutely should be torn apart by him. SR is correct, it wouldn't have happened under JK's watch. He had each and every player running through walls for him and the club. That's what matters. It's an indicator of how far we've fallen and how much we've become accustomed to. We as supporters deserve better. Much better. End of rant part 2.
04 Apr 2026 22:29:23
JK, start supporting City, like me. I'll meet you for a drink in Manchester. I've become bored of supporting us.
04 Apr 2026 22:30:09
Not entirely true, JK. He was holding the shirt when going over to the fans at full time.
It's not worth lynching over, but it is breathtakingly stupid.
It shows the wider lack of leadership in that squad, that nobody saw it happening and didn't try to stop it.
Ekitike does need to show a bit more maturity and professionalism though, especially given he was thick enough to send himself off earlier this season (and I'm still not entirely convinced that he made any significant effort to play through that "dead leg" against Brighton).
04 Apr 2026 22:34:17
Curtis laying down the law? He was pictured in the last match, messing around, putting chewing gum on the third choice gks head while we're getting beat.
04 Apr 2026 22:42:16
If the main focus of attention is Ekitke swapping shirts with his mate, then that's a worry!
I would suggest we look higher and scrutinise the god awful manager that is destroying our club game by game. I'll drive him back to Holland myself on the basis he never returns.
04 Apr 2026 23:17:34
As a Scouser, yeh he should qosr.
04 Apr 2026 23:46:50
You certainly don't get it, BabbsNuts. The action of Ekiteke today is symbolic of the way the team is mentally tuned by the manager. That's the worry and it's real. As observed today. I'll say no more about it, but just read between the lines. SG out.
05 Apr 2026 00:05:59
Curtis Jones is an unfunny joke that keeps persisting, should have been binned off in the summer. Giving it the big one about "getting stuck in" but rarely ever bothers tackling and is happy farting about, no, he's a poster boy for the malaise and he should be gone.
Can't believe there's people on this page who think the cretin should be vice captain. Stop that nonsense now.
05 Apr 2026 00:12:08
I can't wrap my head around it, if it was one of Hugo's idols, some absolute legend of the game who's shirt is notoriously hard to get your hands on, then maybe I could understand it, but it's Cherki, they literally play for the same bloody national team.
05 Apr 2026 00:12:18
The moral outrage on this site is always pointed at the wrong thing. We're an abomination on and off the pitch and we're worried about Ekitike swapping a shirt.
04 Apr 2026 19:41:45
Well done to anyone who managed to watch the whole game, whether at the emptihad or on TV. You are a better supporter than I am.
On a brighter note, I think there is no better time for a new manager to take over either now or in the summer. There are some excellent players and many who have already experienced winning the league.
The hoodoo of taking over from Klopp has already happened and there are some quite obvious changes that can be made to improve the team. I can’t think of a better time for a new manager to take over since Fagan replaced the legendary Paisley.
04 Apr 2026 20:32:55
Dear me, now that was humiliating, very predictable but still humiliating. A tough watch, as most of this appalling season has been.
Now, on the plus side, it was kept under five goals, which didn't look likely when the third went in.
And the biggest plus is its one less game I have to watch with that absolute fraud in charge. Other than that, it was a rough afternoon of football.
04 Apr 2026 20:43:23
Pep L leaping about celebrating also left a bitter taste.
Agreed, a change is necessary. We are at the end of an era with Mo leaving, Robbo more than likely, Ali and VVD won't be too far behind. Fresh ideas and a couple of new players with a coach that can give us 5+ years.
04 Apr 2026 21:01:19
Pep L's celebration was a little disappointing considering the amount of time he spent at the club.
04 Apr 2026 21:06:47
He's got no loyalty to the club and most wanted him gone.
04 Apr 2026 21:07:54
Clee, and all the BS Pep L came out with while with us how he loved the club and the fans. He is a coward, a failed manager, not once but twice, a*se licking b******.
04 Apr 2026 20:59:56
Poor Ed001 has to review that performance 😁
I think we should give him a week off match reviews 👍
{Ed001's Note - I don't do the cup matches mate, just Prem ones. That one I might have to do though, just to get it all off my chest.}
04 Apr 2026 21:28:02
Pep owes us nothing, man. He did his thing and he left.
04 Apr 2026 21:34:36
True that, Oli, he also got slagged off after the book release. Again, who knows what went on, but he probably thinks he's more capable than Arne or our assistant coach.
04 Apr 2026 19:41:31
When can the demise of a club become a significant concern?
I’m looking at us now through the brilliant moments of last seasons title win and a club it seemed in total harmony. Players and staff alike all seemed to be on the same page and it wouldn’t have been an exaggeration to see the scenario as Slot being a modern day Paisley to Klopp's Shankley?
A transfer window that got everyone thinking we could extend our title win to a good few seasons of domination and the hope that the players could take their grief from Dioga’s passing into a real mentality and win more trophies in his memory - something that would of been so much more fitting to what we’ve eventually witnessed!
The drop off and demise this season has been extraordinary! Players' fitness totally and disgracefully neglected, their winning mindset cultivated by Klopp totally wiped out and now we have not just a starting 11 but a squad on a gigantic spiral of decline.
Good players going south, New players stifled and attitudes questionable?
I’ve a mate through my work who’s a mad keen Spurs fan - under Poch they were convinced they were on the cusp of winning something but regardless of that they had a squad togetherness, a style of play that was in keeping with their attacking beliefs and a young squad that played for him! Their demise is sad but not surprising given how badly they were and have been run on and off the pitch. The cancer in that club had taken over and now they’re relegation fodder!
In my opinion (and it’s my opinion) I just hope we make and get the next call right for the club in whoever takes us into next season. A clear out is needed of a number of players and good recruitment imperative in positions that have been terribly neglected.
Just hope we’re not another Spurs?!
04 Apr 2026 20:45:34
One of the main differences I've noticed this season is when we fall behind, we never look like getting back into a game. In years gone by weight concede first but always looked like doing something.
04 Apr 2026 21:09:18
We have a captain who can't lead, Hendo and Millie could. That's the big difference.
04 Apr 2026 21:29:11
Fatwallet, and also a manager who is now here on a part time basis this season. Ed01's words, not mine.
04 Apr 2026 21:31:32
There's more to this than just VVD not being a leader though Fatwallet. When we were in our pomp under Klopp we had multiple captains out on the pitch, Hendo was just the loudest voice,
This is the result of the whole collective of playing staff checking out on Slot months ago - agree they need to be held to account as they've totally disrespected the club with their performances but like Ed 01 said Slot controls the work ethic, mentality & fitness of these players and he's failed bloody miserably!
Forget last seasons title win IF this was Slots first season in charge with this drop off & level of performance he would of been gone months ago with Laurel & Hardy admitting they made a proper clanger in appointing him in the first place!
04 Apr 2026 19:34:00
Ok i am hearing stuff. This is a very experienced guy and he knows things and he wants edwards fired right this moment.
He feels his ego is destroying the club.
I am not sure what's going on but i thought only Edwards is the good guy (capable guy) in our management.
But this guy has extreme views on him and he categorically states FSG got tricked into rehiring him and he has failed them on multiple levels ( beyond LFC).
ED001 you have any insights on this? I thought edwards was the guy that helped rebuild with klopp but this guy is having none of that. He says Edwards getting into LFC was the biggest mistake and LFC corrected it by getting jorg in and edwards is one of the biggest reason why klopp left! The burnout was with reporting to edward after every game! Wow just wow.
{Ed001's Note - he is useless and is only back because he was matey with John Henry. Edwards nearly destroyed us once, it was only luck that the Saudis saved us from disaster and now he is back and making a mess again.}
04 Apr 2026 20:07:35
There's not really much point watching anymore. Next Season FC since November.
04 Apr 2026 20:14:49
Oh, wow! You are echoing what he said. Is it true, then, he wanted to be above Klopp and didn't like that Klopp had so much say, and pulled his levers to undermine Klopp at the club on multiple instances?
He did approve the uncharacteristic splurge and outgoings in the summer - a window that will haunt us for a while.
So, in short, we are incompetent top to bottom at the moment!!
04 Apr 2026 20:15:48
You thought Edwards was the goof guy? Why?
04 Apr 2026 20:37:48
I had no reason to believe he wasn't. Obviously I don't know anything inside of the club. I always thought it was Hughes who had no idea handing out ridiculous contracts and letting good players go and then spending out money just for sakes of it.
And Slot having no idea about football. So I always thought, well, at least Edwards is Ok.
But it turns out he is probably the reason of it all!!!
{Ed001's Note - no Edwards is the main problem. It was a major plus when he left first time around.}
04 Apr 2026 21:01:36
Edwards appointed Hughes, Hughes appointed Slot. Don't think there are any shining lights amongst the 3 amigos.
04 Apr 2026 21:41:37
Opinions on Edwards are certainly divided amongst the fan base, to put it politely. I know many people see him as some sort of transfer guru, which bewilders me, to be honest, and I thought it was fairly well accepted on here that he was a well-dressed conman.
From my standpoint he's had a bad rap amongst many fans through the Klopp era, right back to the early days of FSG, with Rodgers and the transfer committee.
04 Apr 2026 21:30:31
Ed, I guess Big Jorg Schladtke's tep. appointment is starting to look like a master stroke, all things being considered re: Edwards, eh?
{Ed001's Note - he was certainly a much better operator than Edwards. I very much doubt he would have hired Hughes either!}
04 Apr 2026 19:29:06
Edwards and Hughes would rather see Liverpool faul spectacularly this season, rather than sack Arne Slot before then. Absolute pair of cowards.
04 Apr 2026 21:31:10
OP, My sentiments, exactly. You can add Slot to that, as well.
04 Apr 2026 19:25:10
It is such a shame that we slot is still here (well when he hasn’t popped home).
We have good players and that is evident when they are on international duty.
Why don’t the board see how rubbish slot is?
It’s been apparent since March 2025.
Anyway, Wednesday, away in Paris it is.
