Romano - Liverpool stance on Rio Ngumoha, not just today but for months: untouchable. 🔐 Seen as crucial part of the project and no chance for his exit, LFC view is clear. 🏴

With the fairly cryptic posts about Conor Bradley's injury being a lot worse than originally thought last week, is there anyone who can shed a bit of light on what it actually means?

0

05 Jun 2026 16:54:19
David Ornstein just done an exclusive to say Bayern Munich are after Rio Ngumoha! Hope they don't come near him!

4

05 Jun 2026 17:18:59
For the right money, they can come as close as they want...

13

05 Jun 2026 17:20:38
We absolutely should not sell for a whole bunch of reasons.

3

05 Jun 2026 17:24:07
They can have Gakpo instead.

11

05 Jun 2026 17:32:06
Will sell for 500m plus Olise and Musiala.

11

05 Jun 2026 17:40:53
Probably agent trying to up his wages.

4

05 Jun 2026 17:46:06
He is a great kid, but if they gave us Olise that's good business.

3

05 Jun 2026 17:48:09
Was just waiting for one of the sheep, who think they're funny, to mention Gakpo.

4

05 Jun 2026 17:51:22
I'd sell for right money.

5

05 Jun 2026 18:02:34
No, I wouldn't sell. We've just brought in a manager that works great with young players, and is all about attacking football. Why sell our best young attacking talent? Makes zero sense at all. We will get a profit from Rio at some point. I'm betting Rio starts on the left 1st game next season.

5

05 Jun 2026 18:02:53
He's not irreplaceable at all. So if they offered say £50 million I'd take it.

6

05 Jun 2026 18:07:11
If it pays all for Diamonde, bring it on. Rayan is with the Brazil squad, another 19-year-old phenomenon in the making.

When Jamie Car-Rager and John Barnes question Andoni's appointment, you know Liverpool Football Club has got the right man?

Ask any Tranmere Rovers fan about John Barnes' management at their club.

He was sacked after 4 months, and two of them months were pre-season, June, July, and he only won two of his first eleven league fixtures, and he fully backed Slot for another season.

6

05 Jun 2026 18:08:35
The fact Bayern want him, knowing they wouldn't get him cheap, shows exactly why we should want to keep him. When Olise was at Rio's stage of his development, he'd just come off a season where he'd made 4 appearances for the mighty Reading.

1

05 Jun 2026 18:26:22
Replacing Olise, who's off to Madrid.

0

05 Jun 2026 18:29:23
Agreed, Florian, a constant criticism of Slot was the refusal to play youth and now people want the one that looks like breaking through selling. There aren't many 17-year-olds that have had the season he's had, of course he isn't the finished article, but with the right coaching, who knows. I hope we find out whilst he's here.

3

05 Jun 2026 18:32:36
Wild how willing some of you are to give up our most promising young talent, was not expecting to read those comments after I saw the original post.

8

05 Jun 2026 18:35:02
Why on earth would people be happy to entertain a deal for one of the brightest sparks in world football, who can be a talisman for us for the next decade and who will need replacing with someone who inevitably would cost more and would have a lower ceiling?

Bonkers.

5

05 Jun 2026 18:36:30
Hey, let's not storm down on John Barnes. Sure, you may not agree with his views, but one of the greatest to play for us, and did a hell of a lot to change racist attitudes, but was always subject to racist abuse when playing for England.

And struggling with cancer.

10

05 Jun 2026 18:37:22
Really can't understand people advocating for Rio to be sold. Strange. Hopefully, we can get him signed up to a good long term contract.

4

05 Jun 2026 18:39:22
Replacing Olise? Is he on a free?

1

05 Jun 2026 18:50:57
Kid probably just wants to play a bit more, and is scratching his head at how little game time he got vs Gakpo. The brains trust put Gakpo on £250,000 a week so probably felt compelled / contracted to play him as much as they did (3596 mins for Gakpo vs 952 mins for Ngumoha).

Football agent skullduggery most likely. If he gets bigger game time assurance, I'm sure he'll stay. Personally I think he deserves it.

1

05 Jun 2026 18:52:13
Rio hasn't even reached the ripe old age of 21 and some are advocating for a transfer. We need to give our young ones time to develop. We may have a big star on our hands. We will never know until we give him that chance.

1

05 Jun 2026 18:59:52
Just why would you sell Rio? Don't get it, absolutely no need.

0

05 Jun 2026 19:01:58
Because they know full well he'd do reasonably well on a weaker league, and then be able to sell him back to an English team for 10x the price in 6-7 years' time. Loads of European sides are doing it.

Just look at Sancho, Edwards, and now Barca with Gordon.
It's all about milking the Premier League, I think, rather than seeing incredible talent. There's a reason England have won F-all for 60 years.

2

05 Jun 2026 19:03:12
Monstersouness, what exactly does Barnes' illness or the racist abuse he experienced 30 years ago have to do with his opinions today? Give over the moral posturing, mate.

2

05 Jun 2026 19:11:10
True No.8. People whinge wanting more kids getting game time. Only thing is, they all have to be Diego Maradona by the time they are 17/18.

1

05 Jun 2026 19:14:21
If any left winger was to go, it could only be Gakpo. Rio has too much potential, is exciting to watch, and can actually beat a man.

0

05 Jun 2026 17:47:37
Yawnstein has lost all credibility. Tiresome fool.

1

05 Jun 2026 15:42:05
I've been told that Real Madrid are interested in Diomande. Have any of the ITKs heard anything of this?

0

05 Jun 2026 17:26:19
Is he available on a free transfer?

16

05 Jun 2026 17:27:03
He's not leaving on a free, I wouldn't worry about it.

7

05 Jun 2026 17:40:31
Madrid want Olise.

2

05 Jun 2026 18:07:39
Real Madrid are probably already starting talks with Diomonde to join on a free at the end of his 5 year contract at Liverpool.

8

05 Jun 2026 18:24:27
God, I can't stand them coercing players to run their contracts down.

2

05 Jun 2026 18:35:52
Perez announced he's making a move for Olise. Wouldn't make sense to go for Diomande too. He could be a back up plan, but I'd expect Diomande to have a deal done long before a potential deal for Olise might fall through.

Bobcat, 🤣 bang on the money with that one, mate.

0

05 Jun 2026 18:54:20
Bayern are saying they won't even accept 200 million for Olise.

0

05 Jun 2026 19:02:32
I literally can't stand Real Madrid. Hate everything about them.

1

05 Jun 2026 13:43:37
Even though his legs have gone, Robertson to Spurs on a free hurts.

34

05 Jun 2026 14:29:12
It does. Desperately. Like seeing your first love out with someone else. :-(

17

05 Jun 2026 14:41:16
Yeah, I really hoped he would do an about turn with Iraola coming in, but, tbh, he was not going to be first choice, and perhaps that's what he wanted.

6

05 Jun 2026 14:51:52
Am happy for him that he is going to play, but he is miles away from the player he was and I didn't want to see him tarnish his legacy with us by costing us games.

24

05 Jun 2026 14:53:05
I thought he'd move to Scotland and play his days out. He obviously doesn't mind the thought of playing against us. But good luck to him.

5

05 Jun 2026 15:42:06
Guys, stop being silly. Grino is spot on.
Robertson is going to Spurs because he isn't at the required level for Liverpool any longer. Fabulous player though he was, moving to Spurs gives him a deserved opportunity to prolong his PL career at a team in a very different place to us - Tottenham are no rivals.

"Doesn't mind playing against us" - Robertson would much rather be playing for us.

14

05 Jun 2026 15:51:20
I just really hate Tottenham, so this kills me. I'm sad.

3

05 Jun 2026 15:56:08
The problem is that this season just gone by, I think he is still better than Kerkez...
Although for the new season, I expect Kerkez to surpass Robbo.

0

05 Jun 2026 16:05:26
I didn't see much evidence of his legs having gone! He'll make Spurs better, that's guaranteed.

1

05 Jun 2026 16:12:50
It's funny, everyone seems to laud Alex Ferguson for knowing the right time to move players on, but they don't like it when we do it.
It was the right time for Robertson and Salah to move on.

6

05 Jun 2026 16:21:22
What's Ferguson got to do with people saddened by a Kop hero moving on?

3

05 Jun 2026 16:25:02
His legs and speed of thought had both gone or declined. It was evident in quite a few games. He occasionally had better games, but, again, like others have said, that doesn't justify a two-year deal on £150k plus a week. That would be madness.

7

05 Jun 2026 17:17:25
Not at all. Right time for all parties. Brilliant footballer but that was in the past. Wish him well.

3

05 Jun 2026 18:24:02
I work with a Spurs fan and he is made up.

0

05 Jun 2026 18:54:39
Spurs and LFC are on two different levels. Robbo is great signing for a club that just avoided relegation two seasons on the bounce.

0

05 Jun 2026 19:17:23
Rubbish, he isn’t on the required level. He should have been offered a two year deal. People implying that Kerkez is somehow in a different galaxy to him, when he isn’t. With Tsimikas coming back, it’s weakened us drastically. I can understand that Robbo may have wanted to leave to play more games, but he seemed a tad miffed he wasn’t offered a deal.

05 Jun 2026 13:35:27
Can anyone, or the ITKS Confirm if rumours of spurs & gakpo are true as seen they are interested

5

05 Jun 2026 14:17:24
Hopefully, Raceylfc. Hopefully.

19

05 Jun 2026 16:21:45
Robbo has spent 2 seasons on and off playing behind Gakpo, after having Mane in front of him.

He will be in De Zerbi's ear, begging him not to be interested.

5

05 Jun 2026 16:49:13
Gakpo is better suited to Italy or Spain
Italians are tighter than Lycra though and can't see him attracting interest from Barca or Real Madrid
Maybe Bayern or Dortmund would go for him?

2

05 Jun 2026 13:43:08
Any ITKs know if PSG offering Zabarnyi was actually true, think if a loan deal was an option that we would think about that, plays on the right and worked with Andoni before. Or is this just because he has played under Andoni that it came out?

Think it brings less pressure on the young lads coming back from injury and coming into the team.

14

05 Jun 2026 16:49:54
Makes plenty of sense.

1

05 Jun 2026 09:51:50
The deal for Diomande is progressing well, I wouldn't expect it to be concluded until early next week at the earliest.

Palestra has indicated his preference to join us over Inter.

Lastly, Barcola. We are interested in signing him as well, this one may be dependent on Gakpo leaving though.

58

05 Jun 2026 11:10:52
Wowsers Barcola & Diomande would be incredible along with Rio.
Getting good money for Gakpo would be a neat trick also.

20

05 Jun 2026 11:14:18
Palestra and Diomande will be good to see, I would like to add Stiller and Rayan - quite happy if we get decent coin for Gakpo.

12

05 Jun 2026 11:14:57
I've never been impressed when I've watched Barcola play - yet, I'd still take him over Gakpo!

Thanks for sharing, Fields.

16

05 Jun 2026 11:24:34
I've watched Bradley Barcola and I like him. He isn't ruthless in front of goal, but with him and Diomande on the wings, they will create so many opportunities by beating their man and pulling it back for Isak, if he can stay fit. Will be a great signing in my opinion.

8

05 Jun 2026 11:24:44
Good Barcola is overrated and untested for me.

8

05 Jun 2026 11:25:08
Who you got from Fernandes, Wharton and Camara?

2

05 Jun 2026 11:29:12
Cheers, Fields. I would have been happy if Gakpo went. However, with the Ekitke injury, he might be useful, plus Iroala might get the best out of him.

3

05 Jun 2026 11:33:09
Suggestions from the Guardian that Liverpool are focusing on RW and RB signings imminently, but that midfield and CB may be for later in the summer, post World Cup for instance, so the specific targets the club are pushing to sign rather than just the names in their top 2-3 options in any position may yet to be clarified.

2

05 Jun 2026 11:37:07
Can we get Nunez back with the right wingers, he will be good but?

9

05 Jun 2026 11:41:59
FSW, all different types of CM tbh. I know, up until last week, a deal for Wharton was progressing, and Fernandes was all about UTD. Another name was Sangare, who we had made contact with Lens last week.

Obviously, a change in manager may change that, tho. As seen with the Scott links this week.

Personally, I would be looking at both Wharton and Camara if both Jones and Macca leave. If Jones stays, just Camara.

21

05 Jun 2026 12:12:35
Any idea if we are looking at anyone at CB? Personally, I think we need one more.

1

05 Jun 2026 12:15:00
Cheers, Thefields.

From the sounds of it, we're doing some serious business again.

1

05 Jun 2026 12:26:04
I don't see what Jones will offer in any way. He hasn't done enough at all in all his time here for me to consider him as part of the future. imo. Only.

4

05 Jun 2026 12:28:21
Thanks, Thefields. Pls, keep providing info, pls. Well appreciated.

5

05 Jun 2026 12:31:35
I think I'll reserve judgement based on the debacle of last season's transfers, as we all said the same and were full of optimism and promise. Not trying to sound negative, and hopefully we'll get things right.

5

05 Jun 2026 12:43:57
Most likely after the WC tbh, Stone, it's not seen as a pressing concern like other areas.

Lid, I know what you mean. I'm cautiously optimistic about Iraola and some of the players we are linked to.

6

05 Jun 2026 12:44:25
Ghost, I know he's not starting quality, but surely you can see Jones does offer something? As a bare minimum he has previously covered RB, LB, DM, CM, AM and LW. He's also a very passionate local lad who will always give his all, keeps the ball well enough and gets the odd goal or assist.

I'd be more than okay if he left to pursue first team football with Inter Milan, but I'm not having it that he offers nothing if he stays.

That's just hyperbole and I find it amusing that everyone who thinks he's useless tends to also think we should sell him for £20-30m. Can't be that useless if we're expecting that sort of fee from the current Serie A champions!

As you said though, it's just your opinion. I just think you're being very harsh on Jones.

17

05 Jun 2026 12:50:29
Cheers Thefields.

So the Diomande deal is progressing well and likely to be concluded next week, Palestra wants us over Inter, and both Gakpo and Macca could be leaving...

Keep the good news coming. My Kleenex supplier has already started preparing for peak demand.

4

05 Jun 2026 13:24:35
I'm with Ghost here. Jones might have been put in all those positions, but he wasn't particularly good in any of them. He's terrible at right back, he's terrible as a defensive midfielder, he's mediocre at best as a number 8 type centre midfielder.

If the only reason to keep him is the geographical location of his birth, then there is no reason to keep him. He's not good enough to be a starter and his wage demands make him a non-starter as cover as you don't pay squad filler that kind of money.

9

05 Jun 2026 13:27:55
All I can hear is good news, Fields.

If so, Diomande and Palestra are likely to be recruited.

Kamara or Wharton, or both.

Can I understand it as a center back subordinate?

2

05 Jun 2026 13:35:03
Jones needs to stay. His ball retention and forward passing stats are excellent, and he is a very hard worker. Plus he's our last scouser. Personally I'd be starting him alongside a new DM in Iraola's system. Szobo should be the 10 and Wirtz can play a free role off the left like he does well for Germany.

9

05 Jun 2026 14:03:34
I'm with Adam on Jones.

Every team needs a utility player, who can give a 6 or 7/10 in a number of positions on average, which from what I have seen of Jones he does do.

He also appears happy to be used in this way, a Milner way if you will, and not kick up a fuss.

He is also on pretty low wages, and even if we did offer him a new contract I'm sure he'd accept.

9

05 Jun 2026 14:13:58
@mks & dk97, I'm sorry but you must be watching a different Jones than me. He's been about the first team for years, yet have you ever honestly been upset that he's not in the starting 11, or enthusiastic when he's going to be introduced into a game in order to change it or consolidate the result? I haven't. He plays in different positions, but none of them effectively.

It's true that we need squad players available, but he's just making up the numbers. I'm unsure if any of those other squad midfielders like Nynoi or McConnell are any better, but I'd be willing to give them a shot ahead of CJ. At least they may have something to prove. I wouldn't miss Jones in the slightest. I don't believe the club or AI will either.

2

05 Jun 2026 14:25:17
Ghost, at the age of 25, and if we can get him to sign an extension for a modest uplift (to £60-£70k per week from £50k), I would keep him. He has 228 games of experience for us, and players like Nyoni have a fraction of that right now. Of course, if he is eclipsed by the younger players, then let him go (either a sale or, if the extension isn't signed, for free).

The most frustrating thing about last season is that the academy players just haven't had a fair crack of the whip from Slot. I look forward to that changing under Iraola.

5

05 Jun 2026 14:26:39
Also rumours that if the deal for him gets held up and isn't resolved quickly, we will turn to Trincao. Different type of player, so not sure it would make sense.

0

05 Jun 2026 15:12:29
With MKS and Zed on this. I rate Jones only as a squad and utility player, and every team needs those. You can't cram 25 starters into a team. And with his passion for the club, regardless of whatever his weaknesses are, it's a plus because you need such players around in the dressing room.

He's not the best at anything, but he's good enough as a generalist to fill in wherever and whenever needed. What's the point of getting another player of similar talents but without the passion or long-term link Jones has with the club?

3

05 Jun 2026 15:40:38
Thing is, though he's requesting a huge salary to stay and extend his contract. So, for a squad player, that's difficult to justify, as he won't be a starter. Surely, you don't just pay people huge wages because they're passionate about the club and local? Maybe different if he was happy to stay on the wages of a squad utility player.

1

05 Jun 2026 15:46:42
All valid points, lads, but I'm sticking to my guns! That's the great thing about this site! I love the discussions and difference of opinions. There's no craic if we all agreed!!... Have a great weekend, all!

0

05 Jun 2026 16:00:22
Barcola + Diomande feeding Isak?
Say this is good.
And beyond this?
Rio? Gakpo?
Ekitike is not going to be back till Christmas minimum.
We need another 9.
Heard Nunuz is free.
We can do much worse than him.
But if we can afford Kroupi, we should go for him.
I think he is going to be the next big thing.

1

05 Jun 2026 16:08:24
Jones, when he got sent off v Spurs a couple of years ago, was brilliant. Better than Macca, but everyone loved Macca cos he foreign. I'd keep him over Macca, a szob, both of who don't give a toss about Liverpool. As for using wages as a stick to beat him with, you're all drunk.

And, as a side note, without him this season we probably wouldn't have got Champions League. If he wants to stay then keep him. I don't think I've known us without a Scouser in the team.

3

05 Jun 2026 08:46:16
Ed001 Robbo Carra fields anyone got any updates on Sobs contract talks.
If he does not sign this summer do you think we should sell because I don't think we want him on his last year because we don't want another season of the Trent and Konate crap because if he does not sign soon he obviously been tapped up by Madrid.

2

05 Jun 2026 09:13:02
Was wondering if RM's £150m bid was for him, but not Premiership they said.

5

05 Jun 2026 09:37:41
I'm sceptical about that rumour, as it was reported "not Premiership", and then the article included Declan Rice in their list of potential targets!

5

05 Jun 2026 09:46:49
Michael Edwards is reportedly on ~£10M/year with FSG (per recent claims). That's huge for an exec - roughly £192k/week, solid top-tier PL money but not quite top 5 level (Haaland ~£525k/wk, Salah ~£400k).

Let's see what the boys are made of now, we have all these contracts coming to an end.

4

05 Jun 2026 11:35:01
I think Perez was talking about Olise.

2

05 Jun 2026 14:04:24
Yeah, Olise would make sense, Racey.

I did get excited that they may value Macca at £150m, but sadly not to be!
