Any truth in us making a formal proposal for Huijsen?
1.) 10 May 2025 07:35:02
I think we have. Doesn’t mean he will come. It’s probably between us and Real Madrid.
2.) 10 May 2025 08:45:29
Chelsea.
{Ed001's Note - be a strange signing for Chelsea. For one, he is better than they already have. For two he is not ridiculously expensive. And he is getting a bit old for them.}
3.) 10 May 2025 09:04:14
Lol Ed01, that cracked me up. Response of the day?.
4.) 10 May 2025 09:08:43
You think Chelsea has advantage over us Ed? I've seen someone mentioned that his agent or someone close to him is the same guy who is responsible for making deals with Chelsea before. And that supposedly put Chelsea at advantage over us or other clubs not name Real Madrid.
{Ed001's Note - I very much doubt that will be the deciding factor in where the lad decides to go.}
5.) 10 May 2025 10:34:42
Champions. Dutch manager. Dutch captain. Opportunity to learn from the best CB in PL history? What’s not to like?
6.) 10 May 2025 10:51:27
Well Chelsea could give more money and probably more 1st team opportunities. You know what money can do to these young footballers.
7.) 10 May 2025 11:22:24
@mfa, or we could offer more money than Chelsea, who knows. Not really sure players wanting to play for whoever pays them the most is the sort of person who fits in with the team ethic. Also, if we sell Gomez and / or Quansah and / or Konate, any CB coming in is almost guaranteed to be a starter for a fair part of the season.
17 Apr 2025 11:02:03
Van Dijkhas signed a two year extension. "Ambition of the club is clear".
Just breaking.
1.) 17 Apr 2025 11:34:44
Great news, glad to see it's finally done. Now time for Trent to sign? it wouldn't surprise me, nothing is done yet.
2.) 17 Apr 2025 12:20:33
Great news - looking forward to a Hughes summer after a year of Slot analyzing the squad to prepare us for next season.
3.) 17 Apr 2025 12:24:03
If the rumour that Trent was holding out for Salah and VVD to get new contracts, and then sign I'd be buzzing. Wishful thinking but from doubters to believers?
4.) 17 Apr 2025 12:27:46
Hopefully Salah. don't see it though.
5.) 17 Apr 2025 12:32:51
Virg and Mo have run cover for Trent.
Imagine they signed in Oct - the pressure that heaps on a key player when we are trying to win a league would be massive.
Leagues done, Trent may not play again so the pressure is off. This was done ages ago. It was two senior pros looking after a teammate. If they hadn’t any misplaced pass would be jumped on and questions asked.
They’ve played it perfectly.
6.) 17 Apr 2025 12:36:49
He's our number four!
Calm as you like from here, guys.
7.) 17 Apr 2025 15:32:14
Nah I don't see it happening either FM to be fair. What a surprise that'd be though if he did. After all the rumours and then he goes and signs a new contract? We can hope!
8.) 17 Apr 2025 18:00:47
Great news. Excited to hear it and that the behind-the-scenes work paid off.
9.) 17 Apr 2025 20:30:00
Brilliant news for the club that Virgil is staying. Two more years of top performances and he might just go down as our best defender ever.
10.) 18 Apr 2025 11:17:57
I don’t understand why everyone is so convinced Trent is leaving, he hasn’t said anything, the fact that mo and Virg chose to openly state they wanted to stay has nothing to do with Trent. Spanish media is a nightmare for unsettling players and fans. I’m sure Trent will hear what the club has to say, weigh up his options and do what he feels is best for him. I think it’s 50/ 50.
23 Mar 2025 21:36:54
Ed's can I just ask in your opinion can you see us trying to sign both Isak and Cunha this summer? I'm expecting both Jota and Nunez to leave so should give us some funds. Don't get me wrong one would be great but both would be excellent. We could potentially lose Diaz also.
{Ed001's Note - no, I would doubt that would be an option.}
17 Feb 2025 21:59:59
Can any of the Ed's confirm, if we have any interest in signing Florian Wirtz of Leverkusen? Looks like city maybe making a move and wondered if we would be in the market for a player of his calibre.
{Ed001's Note - we have maintained an interest since before his injury.}
1.) 18 Feb 2025 06:04:32
We have been. and currently are. monitoring the player!
2.) 18 Feb 2025 07:11:24
There is no reason to believe Wirtz wouldn’t be interested in a move to us should the opportunity arise, but Liverpool are unlikely to compete for him given the wealth of those clubs who would also be interested. Wirtz’s next contract will likely be for between £250k - £400k pw and Bayer 04 will command at least £80m for him. Liverpool won’t even contemplate such a move.
3.) 18 Feb 2025 07:57:51
Definitely will not be competing with Man City and Real Madrid who have both ‘declared an interest’. Kiss goodbye to this one.
4.) 18 Feb 2025 09:21:59
Once people latch onto a word they aren’t afraid to use it are they? I know because I’m am monitoring the situation. I think the idea - which was a very, very weak joke to begin with -should be taken out and shot now to put us out of its misery.
5.) 18 Feb 2025 10:59:53
At least most of us have stopped "hearing whispers. " I guessed it was supposed to be normal during the transfer window.
6.) 18 Feb 2025 12:18:02
In the past we have offered huge sums for players such as Van Dijk, Alison and Caicedo. The club has always said first the right player we would pay big fees. Wouldn’t Wirtz fit this criteria? Top player who seems to have overcome that injury, and still very young. I don’t buy the if city are interested we have no chance, as they wanted Van Dijk and he chose us.
7.) 18 Feb 2025 12:35:56
Wirtz would be the best player we could sign in the summer, could build the team around him.
8.) 18 Feb 2025 12:38:24
I would be shocked if Florian Wirtz doesn't end up at one of City or Bayern. That ship has sailed for us, unfortunately.
9.) 18 Feb 2025 12:54:31
If City and Madrid are to fight it out for his signature, as reported…. we will rightly step away.
10.) 18 Feb 2025 13:25:56
I think city will get a transfer ban as part of there sanctions.
11.) 18 Feb 2025 15:20:39
WDW, can you hold it while it's being shot.
12.) 18 Feb 2025 16:06:53
If anyone seriously believes we have any chance of signing Wirtz, then you’re living in cloud cuckoo land. We’ve no chance of signing him. It’ll be another frugal summer.
13.) 18 Feb 2025 17:54:17
For some reason I can’t explain I think there might be a lot of transfer activity this summer. No real evidence, just a gut feeling that Slot will get the green light to start rebuilding the squad with players that suit the style he wants to play.
14.) 18 Feb 2025 19:59:24
I hope it centres around players such Wirtz, Zubimendi, Isak, Huijsen, Cunha. Certainly don’t mean sign all but three would be a good start in rebuilding.
15.) 19 Feb 2025 01:06:43
Gut feelings are worthless. Previous inactivity or poor signings are a better indicator. Inactivity is most the most likely outcome. If all of Salah, Van Dijk and Arnold leave it’s entirely plausible that we sign no one on the grounds that we still have 5 forwards, that 3 central defenders is just about enough with Endo covering and Bradley is the new right back. And don’t say we haven’t been here before, as we have.
16.) 19 Feb 2025 07:59:27
Like the summer we replaced an entire midfield a couple of years ago @Victor? That window, and the ‘big name’ signings since then seem to not get a mention when the ‘lack of signings’ lobby get into their groove.
We have a number of players in their late 20’s and 30’s who need to be incrementally replaced. If you can’t see that - blinded as you routinely are by obsessing on real / imaginary weaknesses in anybody being “monitored” - then it’s not really worth trying to have a sensible conversation.
17.) 19 Feb 2025 13:13:17
I think we will be active in the Summer window regardless if the three players sign or not. Care to make a charity wager Viktor, put your money where your mouth is so to speak ?.
18.) 19 Feb 2025 17:29:48
Victor we bought Szoboszlai (60), McAllister (35) and bid 110 for Caicedo in same window. We also bought Gravenberch (35) and Endo (16). In same window.
19.) 23 Feb 2025 09:58:31
Viktor, have you ever stopped to think that not investing in the squad is not a good option if you want to protect the value of the team in the present or for future buyers? You think penny pinching and making profit on selling our assets is the only objective of the club but surely if we sell our spine and don't buy anybody we would struggle to make Europe and such a decision would effectively be commercial suicide? What makes you think fsg, whatever their flaws as owners of this club, want to sink the team into mediocrity by selling Virgil and playing endo as a center half? You're entitled to negativity but I think you need to make some sense, anybody who thinks the owners have some common sense is in your eyes blindly optimistic and being taken for a ride by fsg it seems.
Thankfully for us all the team continue to excel despite your grim predictions and prognoses, if we were to go by your forecasts fsg would ring konchesky and poulsen to come out of retirement and sign them on lifetime contracts.
02 Feb 2025 19:57:55
Anyone confirm if we have made an offer for a midfielder from Red Star call Andrija Maksimovic? Apparently mainly attacking midfielder only 17 years old.
1.) 02 Feb 2025 20:02:12
I’ve never heard of him but I’m a big fan of ball-playing Eastern European midfielders so I’m all in on this one.
2.) 02 Feb 2025 20:48:43
Na. Read the quotes from the agent. Not happening this window anyway. If a deal was happening, agent would be quieter. This smacks of agent throwing bait out there.
I think interest is possible. Think Ed002 mag have mentioned it but hd ain't signing this window.
3.) 02 Feb 2025 21:35:22
A littie bit of Eastern european MF dynamism and power would not go a miss for the run-in. This guy looks great on youtube. I bet Richard has been stalking his channel and the red star chat groups.
4.) 03 Feb 2025 05:02:10
Was his agent Zoran Stojadinovic that mentioned us with Villa and Leipzig, claiming we have an offer on the table for him. Fingers crosswd.
5.) 03 Feb 2025 11:37:58
He will not be able to sign till the summer due to his age.

Hi Ed with being granted permission to speak with Wirtz and with his agent already in the north west, do you think we will seek permission also?
Surely we must be interested. Would be a dream signing and a real statement.
Thanks.
{Ed001's Note - we would have to be crazy to not at least ask the question and find out what kind of money a deal would cost. It might be out of our reach, but you have to at least find out for sure. Leverkusen are desperate to avoid him going to Bayern, so they might even be willing to accept a lower transfer fee.}
1.) 14 May 2025 14:49:51
Heading to Manchester city. His parents met Pep Guardioloa the other day. Move on.
2.) 14 May 2025 15:41:58
You served them their Saurbraten eeh Harry?
3.) 14 May 2025 16:10:05
Wirtz is the one to build the team around. Sacrifice other positions for this guy. If he goes to City without us at least trying to match the offer and sell him our project will be equivalent to letting Trent go for free.
4.) 14 May 2025 16:29:37
Apparently they met with Liverpool on Tuesday in Manchester also. This was leaked by his parents (who are his agents) . I would love us to get him ahead of City and Bayern.
Reported fee is £126 million. I’d say still viable, club has always said we would be willing to pay high fees for the right players. Well Wirtz is one of them.
5.) 14 May 2025 17:24:52
Move on? Why don't you move back to the City page?
6.) 14 May 2025 18:41:07
Back to the City page? Weird reply.
{Ed001's Note - the reply wasn't to you mate.}
7.) 15 May 2025 08:28:18
Saying and wanting to do, are 2 different things with these owners Red.
28 Apr 2025 12:48:17
I hope now the club have begun looking at bringing in the three targets we have in the prem, namely Huijsen, Kerkez and Cunha. Yes we have now won the title but there are two windows this summer, and out of all the targets I'd hope these would be the lesser complex ones to get over the line. I say this due to two having definite release clauses (Cunha and Huijsen) and the fact Hughes is dealing with his old club and will by now know what it's going to take to sign them.
If these are actual targets then we surely must be looking to tie these down prior to the first window closure. All three improve us and allows us to hopefully move some players on prior to first window closure I. e Nunez, Tsimikas, Jota possibly, freeing up money from sales.
1.) 28 Apr 2025 13:46:28
I hope we stay away from Kerkez personally but agree with the other 2.
2.) 28 Apr 2025 15:01:14
Little chance of Cunha coming to Liverpool.
3.) 28 Apr 2025 15:42:38
I'm sure I read somewhere Hughes had nothing to do with the recruitment or signing of Either Huijsen or Kirkez, so I doubt there is any relationship there.
4.) 28 Apr 2025 22:06:59
Why is there ‘little chance’ of Cunha coming to the League Champions, who are only going to get better and who are not only in the CL but will give it a really good shake?
24 Apr 2025 21:55:03
I think Huijsen is the perfect signing for centre back this window and would be great succession planning. I think Konate is definitely gone if Huijsen arrives. PSG the most likely destination for me, who do have interest. It doesn't look likely he will agree a new deal in the summer and our move for Huijsen likely reflects that. He's been a good servant but I think he wants the move and Huijsen has a higher ceiling.
I'd say Williams, Phillips will leave and Quansah either a loan or sale. Khelleher, Endo, Doak, Koumas, Morton, Tsimikas, and Nunez are almost certain departures. Which does give us a healthy budget. Outside chance on Jota and Diaz leaving (if he doesn't sign a new deal) .
Kerkez looks very likely and I'd say Cunha also given we can pay in instalments, which makes him more viable. Chiesa hopefully stays as he deserves a chance to prove his quality. Even with all them outs the squad doesn't lose much and not taking into consideration any other newcomers.
Allison/ Mamashvilli.
Bradley / Arnold or other.
Van Dijk, Huijsen, Gomez.
Robertson / Kerkez / Beck.
Gravenberch, McAllister, Szoboszlai, Jones, McConnell, Bacjetic, and new signing.
Salah, Gakpo, Chiesa, Cunha and new signing. Wirtz would be the dream signing but unlikely.
1.) 24 Apr 2025 22:28:58
I don’t see Bajetic here next season and I think McConnell might get a loan.
2.) 24 Apr 2025 22:31:05
We need more than 3 CBs, especially if one of them is Gomez, who is very unlucky with injuries.
3.) 25 Apr 2025 07:37:54
How about Kevin de bruyne and Harry Kane as short term measures- frightening thought?
{Ed025's Note - they dont fit your demographic TB..
4.) 25 Apr 2025 08:21:47
I would think Gomez would need moving on as he is always injured. Nice lad but no point being sentimental when he’s made of glass.
5.) 25 Apr 2025 09:40:26
Thing is you don’t want to lose so many and the more likely departures and frees leaving is already high, plus the likelihood of Konate Arnold and or Diaz leaving. I did say more incomings in my post so not just the ones I have mentioned.
25 Mar 2025 20:18:52
Just for fun, but say Arnold leaves for Madrid and we draw Madrid in next years CL. Would you be telling the players to target that side for attacks? Would thta be the area you consider the team will get more joy from attacks?
1.) 25 Mar 2025 20:41:13
Depends who Real's left back is. We will certainly be aware of Trent's strengths and weaknesses.
23 Feb 2025 21:31:21
Good to see Endo getting more and more game time recently, vitally important to give some of the midfield a break in games going forward. CL just around the corner and I think he'll be needed more now we are at the business end.
16 May 2025 09:14:38
Who’s the other player Carra?
14 May 2025 21:33:31
As Slot said this season he never bought him for six months or twelve, we bought for the next few seasons.
13 May 2025 19:22:10
Aren’t Leeds interested in Khelleher?
13 May 2025 12:11:43
Not for me either, might be having a purple patch but I’d rather keep Chiesa.
11 May 2025 20:38:24
Looks a good option and versatile, I’d be happy with him.
15 May 2025 20:57:28
Even Felix, can’t think of anything he has done that’s makes him worth signing.
14 May 2025 18:41:07
Back to the City page? Weird reply.
{Ed001's Note - the reply wasn't to you mate.}
14 May 2025 16:31:07
Professionalism.

13 May 2025 21:48:41
I think jones could go this window.
