Any truth in Madrid wanting Ekitike? He has been probably our best player outside Dom this season. Be crazy to let him go.
01 Apr 2026 21:02:47
It's April Fools... don't listen to any of it.
01 Apr 2026 21:13:17
Links well and seems to get along with Mbappe. Wouldn't surprise me.
01 Apr 2026 22:21:20
About as likely as Homer turning vegetarian.
Not to say RM will knock in the future.
Diddly out.
01 Apr 2026 05:07:49
Hey, I maybe in the wrong here but been informed the Vvd is also looking for a move! No idea if club will let him go for free or what, but rumours are a couple of Saudi clubs want to open talks with him and have asked us for go ahead.
01 Apr 2026 07:30:14
Doubt he'll be leaving for free.
01 Apr 2026 08:41:38
Happy for his time with us to come to an end, fantastic defender, up there with Hansen (and for me Sami in that bracket as well).
But I passionately believe that we need a total overhaul of leadership and he is part of that group.
A token fee would be acceptable and it would be great to watch him pick up a trophy or two on the continent somewhere.
01 Apr 2026 09:02:36
Van Dijk is still the best defender around, but, in my opinion, the new manager could do worse than reassign the captaincy. He is one of the senior players, but, damn it, he is no leader of men.
Letting him go completely would not be a good idea, as no one out there is better, let alone players we could buy.
01 Apr 2026 09:13:19
I think he'll go next summer when his contract runs out.
01 Apr 2026 09:49:45
Check what the date is. 😂
01 Apr 2026 12:18:48
Agree, Lowe, he's definitely not a good captain.
01 Apr 2026 14:00:27
He isn't moving next season.
01 Apr 2026 14:48:44
First I saw of this was a TeamTalk article a couple of weeks ago claiming Saudi was planning a triple-raid for Mo, Virgil & Ali. The rumours have since been recycled on social media and referenced in a couple of outer articles over the last 2 weeks. TeamTalk are generally a low tier second hand source, more concerned with site traffic and not known for publishing breaking stories.
Nobody major has picked up on the claims since, which should tell you all you need to know. I believe the same rumours about Virgil started around this time last year as well. I've no doubt Saudi are interested, but claims Virgil is actively looking for a move are pure speculation at the moment, unless one of the ITK's has any solid info, which I'm sure they would have shared by now.
01 Apr 2026 14:57:12
He got at least another season in him... he's still our best defender by far... but I think next season n that's it for him at Liverpool.
01 Apr 2026 15:19:54
Every year people fall for the April Fools post!
01 Apr 2026 15:21:47
I know VVD has not had his best season but is it his time to be slagged off?
I have posted on how VVD has not performed to his best but the man has not stopped playing since his bad injury.
As for not being a great captain, you could not be further from the truth; he is a leader and he cannot be at fault if players go out of form.
You don't have to scream and shout to be a captain, you just need the respect of your team mates and opposition players.
YNWA.
01 Apr 2026 16:06:48
@Albeyred, Exactly. All the players describe him as a leader. How he sets the standards. Maybe he is not as vocal as Hendo, but Hendo also had Milly and others to back him up. It's the duty of the whole leadership group to drive the team forward. At least he takes initiative and speaks to the media irrespective of how it is going.
01 Apr 2026 16:19:02
Gents - It's April Fools.
01 Apr 2026 17:55:44
I love it: "he's not a good captain" based on zero insight or observation, despite him being a focal point and a rock on the pitch.
01 Apr 2026 18:05:55
Frode, he's had some woeful performances this year, far from being a rock, mate, and he's not captain material, at least not the type of captain we need. Whenever something goes wrong, that's his fault, he just turns around, throws his hands in the air and whinges at the closest person to him, looking for someone to blame.
He's not lighting a fire under anyone out there, he's just not an inspiring leader. I love him, he has been unbelievable for us, one of the best CB's to ever do it, but he's not the captain we need right now.
01 Apr 2026 18:40:36
April 2 will not come too soon.
01 Apr 2026 19:01:46
Yep, moving to Walton.
31 Mar 2026 15:16:02
Liverpool are going to sign a player from Wolves is what I've heard.
Seems to make sense. Let's see.
31 Mar 2026 16:23:13
Would have thought/hoped one of Gomes, Andre or Mane. Mane, my least favoured option, as think wingers with more experience required this summer with Rio as our development one.
31 Mar 2026 16:29:20
Matheus Mane, although there was a long term interest in both their Brazilian midfielders.
31 Mar 2026 16:33:25
Not far off Diomande in fairness for experience. And knows the league now.
31 Mar 2026 16:51:23
Diomande has scored 5x the amount of goals in their breakout year and is playing for a much bigger team in terms of where they're competing. Diomande is also a full international, with 9 apps and 3 goals for Ivory Coast.
Diomande is a RW, Mane has been playing on the left. Lots of reasons FM.
But yes, not a million miles of difference in experience.
Would still rather Gomes out of anyone in that squad for what we need.
31 Mar 2026 16:53:18
Like it or not but at some point we're going to have to start buying some English players, otherwise we'll be running small squads every season.
31 Mar 2026 17:07:22
Diomande plays on the left, COTG.
31 Mar 2026 17:12:07
Experience was the only reason I gave Gvardiol. Although I believe Diomande does also play on the left.
31 Mar 2026 17:18:46
Who's the homegrowners Woodman, Bradley, Frimpong, Gomez, Nyoni, Jones, Danns and Rio? We should be ok. Other good young English players at the club in Wright and Abe coming through. Should be trying to produce our homegrown players inhouse anyway to stay away from the ridiculous transfer fees.
31 Mar 2026 17:20:22
Diomande *can* play on the right, but he's right-footed, which would tend to push him out wide and limit Frimpong's ability to overlap.
I'd still love to see us sign him, but as a replacement for Gakpo, not Mo.
31 Mar 2026 17:26:51
Can see us actually signing Wharton, so that would be another. Could Beck cover Kerkez? He's injured, and I haven't seen enough. Can see Utd and City fighting it out for Anderson.
Any other home grown players out there? No idea about what system we actually intend to grow into, but I do like Archie Gray and Morgan Rodgers.
Probably cost a fortune unless Spuds go down or Villa need money.
31 Mar 2026 17:31:52
Nyoni, Danns and Rio wouldn't count in full squad list as they are not "of age" yet.
They'll be on the youth list.
31 Mar 2026 17:50:37
Does it really matter though, Ginger, if as we all expect their minutes increase next season? For all we know Rio could end up our starting LW next season. Stranger things have happened. We are never going to have 25 senior players, are we? Even this year we have 22, and that includes a 3rd keeper and Ramsey, who is never gonna play.
31 Mar 2026 17:51:46
Florian Musiala do you argue with your own reflection? 🤣 A poster could say the sky is blue, you would say it was green & when they point out how wrong you are, you would say i was just saying its the sky.🤣
31 Mar 2026 18:29:06
FM should literally just change his name to Devil's Advocate.
Nothing wrong with that. It's literally my job! Won't win you many friends though!
31 Mar 2026 18:43:50
Jesus, lads, I thought I was discussing, not arguing. Is this not what we are here for? SzSz8, if you're talking about my reply to Gvardiol, I'm right. They are both having a breakout season. I fail to see where the big difference in experience is. Diomande has played a grand total of 22 more senior games than Mane. At an inferior level.
31 Mar 2026 19:01:29
Florian your doing it again, i'm not on about any one post, it's just your general posting. You love to be right but that means only you can be right, nobody else. Nothing wrong with that, its who you are & you keep being you it makes for an entertaining read.
31 Mar 2026 19:29:57
SzSz8, would you not look at Gvardiol's response to my original post before giving me a character assessment? I mentioned Diomande purely because he's the most linked winger to us and has a near identical level of experience to Mane. Gvardiol hadn't even mentioned Diomande in his post, yet I then got a nice detailed responce on how Diomande was better, even though I had never said he wasn't.
😆 I know it's the in thing to call me out on here, but look and read posts before you play amateur shrink. Ooops, did I do it again?
31 Mar 2026 19:41:56
Florian, I like Rio a lot, he has deserved more game time this season, especially over Gakpo, but if we started next season with him as our starting lw, I would be seriously concerned. He's only 17 and his end product just isn't there yet. It's great to see a kid like Rio coming through, hungry and confident, willing to take on his man without hesitation, but he's just not the full package yet.
Mane looks good, but as you said yourself Diomande's got 22 more senior games, at 18/19 years old that's an absolutely massive difference, don't try to pretend otherwise, not to mention Mane only has 4 league goal contributions whilst Diomande has 17. You can try make excuses by calling it an inferior league but there's no doubt Diomande looks the better more experienced player right now.
31 Mar 2026 19:45:16
If you weren't comparing Mane to Diomande, then why even bring him into a conversation where he wasn't involved?
31 Mar 2026 19:46:21
Read my post, FM, it has sweet FA to do with that post. It is your posts in general that show your need to be right, hence your frustrated tone above! I may be an amateur shrink, but I got your number. 😁 Try not to reply. Prove to me I'm wrong, & you don't always need to have the last word all the time. 😁
31 Mar 2026 20:22:01
Chewy, I would also be concerned if Rio was our starting LW next season. But, seen as a lot would like him to be our starting LW THIS season, stranger things have happened that he could start a lot of games next year. And I don't need to make excuses, I don't care who's better of the two. Couldn't give a flying duck. I merely mentioned Diomande because a poster said more experienced wingers than Mane are needed, and Diomande is highly linked and only 10 months older.
Am I missing something here? And Chewy, in fairness on the goal comparisions Mane plays for the bottom team in the strongest league on the planet, and Diomande plays for one of the top sides in an inferior league. I would imagine he gets the ball a lot more in good situations than Mane would. SzSz8, what's this number you have? I don't have a need to be right. I just happen to be right, a lot of the time. Think that bugs people on here including yourself it seems.
31 Mar 2026 20:38:38
FM, did you reply? Yes you did! That number!
No more replies from me, mate. Keep posting & being you. 👍
31 Mar 2026 20:53:36
Please don't go SzSz8. 😆
01 Apr 2026 08:22:37
Rio is nowhere near a full time starter, looks good with flicks and tricks but no end product, tbh, and this is my opinion, he is so like what Doak was.
{Ed001's Note - I am so glad somebody said that! He is so far off ready.}
01 Apr 2026 09:39:15
I think he's better than Doak, but I agree that he's got a lot of development to go. He should be given more minutes than he was getting, but I agree he is way off being a regular starter, with all the hype and expectancy that comes with it.
01 Apr 2026 10:06:58
I don't think so either, but if Gakpo stays I can't see us buying another specialist LW. The club won't bump Rio down to 3rd choice in my opinion if they were willing to not block his pathway this year.
And, if that happens, and Gakpo has a season similar to this one, then Rio will start a lot of games, I'd imagine. This is all going with the notion that Rio keeps improving and developing physically, of course.
01 Apr 2026 21:04:37
Could we not just get rid of Gakpo?
31 Mar 2026 13:20:53
BBC mentioning us being interested in Luis Suarez of Sporting.
I'll bite if there's some tooth to it.
31 Mar 2026 15:03:47
O, that hurt, cooler mate !!!
31 Mar 2026 20:07:48
His bark's worse than his bite...
30 Mar 2026 20:06:22
Bild reporting XA done.
30 Mar 2026 20:36:15
Daily Mirror says Slot is here for the long haul and is happy with him. 🤔
30 Mar 2026 20:53:13
Bild was reporting from the report a week ago, which said we contacted him, not that it was done.
30 Mar 2026 21:02:05
Doesn't matter what they say, Carra said it and I believe him.
30 Mar 2026 21:05:49
BeKind, don't think they did, mate. Where'd you see that?
30 Mar 2026 21:25:32
The fume on here when Slott gets his new contract will be mental.
30 Mar 2026 21:38:42
Been all over social media today and Carra has stated it, happier days.
30 Mar 2026 21:39:47
New contract is hilarious. 🤣 Manc alert. 🤐
30 Mar 2026 22:58:30
Fatwallet, I see lots of second hand social media recycling the claims, but nobody linking to an article on Sportbild by Axel Hesse, which has been cited as the original source.
The most recent Sportbild article on Alonso/Liverpool from Hesse (or anybody else) is from 25th March, titled "Alonso ready for spectacular return." But the article makes no claims outside of Alonso being the top candidate and that the club have remained in contact with him.
Seems like the claims on social media are misconstrued garbage tbh. Looks like somebody read an old headline, took it out of context, and a few others followed suit.
31 Mar 2026 07:18:50
Sowhat is yet another troll who'll revel in communal disappointment
31 Mar 2026 08:12:26
Chewy only stating it was on social media, there was no new information.
31 Mar 2026 12:28:55
Fatwallet, op claimed Bild said XA was done. That's definitely new information. Appreciate that you're just sharing what you know, I'm only stating that it's garbage, mate.
31 Mar 2026 16:11:29
Alonso coming in is old news now. 😂
Slot is here til the end of the season, regardless of a difference of opinion at the club. Only us tumbling down the table may change that.
My thoughts since about December have always been a mutual parting of ways at the end of the season, because Slot won't walk, nor does it seem anyone has the balls to sack him.
It suits all parties. His CV doesn't have a blemish, and we get who we wanted all along.
31 Mar 2026 16:39:03
Won't walk at all, or not till the end of the season? Don't see how anyone will think it's mutual, or that he has left the job at a worldwide club to go manage Ajax. A sacking is what it'll have to be.
31 Mar 2026 17:59:33
It will be mutual because both sides agree to part ways. It's that simple, so should be easy for you to comprehend, FM.
31 Mar 2026 19:21:54
Ah ye know yourself though, Fields. When it comes across the Sky Sports screen on the yellow ticker that a manager and a club have parted ways by mutual consent, no one ever believes it. 😆 Just don't get why Slot would willingly leave, that's all.
31 Mar 2026 21:59:23
Aye, you're right there, FM. 😂 The only thing that is keeping him from doing so is his ego, I reckon. Why would you jump, if no one is there to push you?
30 Mar 2026 18:39:49
Afternoon All, I posted a few weeks back about Christos Mouzakitis. Just a little update on that, looks like Liverpool faded out of it and are looking at more established players for the CM position. Both Milan sides look to be going head-to-head for his signature, will still be a yr loan back.
Regarding incommings, last year all the talk was Wharton as the next best thing, now looks to have swung to Anderson, i'm still a huge fan of the way wharton plays, the way he studies the ball for a few seconds before passing reminds me of trent. Is there any link to us this summer and his signature?
Thanks Eds.
30 Mar 2026 19:03:51
As a Greek, I gotta say the supposed interest sounded like old year's news. He's regressed massively this season, with mostly below mediocre performances, and I never believed he would ever have the physicality needed. Many better midfielders in his age bracket out there.
It made no sense that we'd be looking to sign him. Even Kostoulas, who was miles ahead of him in terms of both talent and "readiness", is struggling for minutes in Brighton (though my opinion is that Hurzeler is a criminal for the way he's been treating him).
30 Mar 2026 19:41:46
Wharton looks to me as someone who, if surrounded by the right players, can be world class, but if not, can look poor.
Based on our current strikers, if we play a diamond with him at the base in a Pirlo/regista role, that would suit him best.
30 Mar 2026 19:50:51
If we signed a Guimaries R Caicedo type along with Wharton, I think it would be brilliant, but I don't think Wharton on his own is what we need.
30 Mar 2026 21:00:50
I like Wharton and would be happy if we signed him. I'm sure if Xabi is coming in he could help develop him further. Would love Anderson too, obviously.
30 Mar 2026 21:35:08
Thanks, TLC and Last Baron - interesting.
30 Mar 2026 22:43:27
I'd be happy if we only signed both Warton and Anderson this summer. Would completely sort us out.
30 Mar 2026 23:04:36
@Tic75, Bit weird 'studying the ball for a few seconds before passing it'. I used to look at a fruit pastel for a few seconds before eating it, but I bet you can't study a ball for a few seconds before passing it!!
31 Mar 2026 02:39:04
Is studying the ball for a minute code for "he takes forever to pass it" - in which case he will fit right in this year's side. Personally, I would prefer a midfielder who has already considered his options before he gets the ball and then makes the right pass as soon as he has received it.
31 Mar 2026 07:20:31
What about the Lamine Kamara rumours? He's more all action.
31 Mar 2026 09:52:06
Neither Anderson nor Wharton are great defensively.
Anderson is more like Jordan Henderson in that he is combative, but when he is man on man he gets turned easily. Again, like Hendo, when he gets in dangerous areas his shots more often get blocked.
I think he's better than Jones and the version of MacAllister we are seeing, but I would prefer a proper DM.
31 Mar 2026 16:24:27
@NoMoreBoom, Ha, you know what I mean, he doesn't rush a pass, the technique is very similar. @thelastbaron, I can't pass comment, I don't know him, just what's been passed across to me through a source, thought it was an interesting 'rumour' to share.
31 Mar 2026 16:47:16
I know @Tic. I just try and keep it light, mate. It's all just a bit of craic. Cheers for posting.
30 Mar 2026 11:26:08
Xa apparently wants Arda Guler as his main signing.
30 Mar 2026 11:47:16
Get him in.
30 Mar 2026 11:50:41
Needs to up his work rate imo.
30 Mar 2026 11:57:28
He reminds me of a better version of Suso! I really rated Suso back in the day, if only he worked under Klopp & not Bodgers, things might have been very different for his career.
30 Mar 2026 12:05:59
Don't need him, do we? Doesn't he play in Wirtz's position, and I'd doubt he'd come in as a back up.
30 Mar 2026 12:32:23
Wirtz played much more on the left at Leverkusen, so Guler on the right as part of a 3-4-2-1 behind Etikite/Isak might work.
30 Mar 2026 12:32:56
Think Xa favours two CAMs behind a striker. With Wirtz, Dom and Guler we'd be well covered.
30 Mar 2026 12:33:06
Xabi must want to play two AMs and Scrabble in the double pivot with Grav?
30 Mar 2026 12:46:00
I imagine Szobo will be delighted, considering their bickering. :P
30 Mar 2026 12:57:20
Guler is a sensational passer. His ceiling is very high, but he will need to adapt to PL's physicality. However, he is an RM fan, and I don't see him leaving when he is getting decent minutes already.
30 Mar 2026 14:15:08
I thought Guler doesn't get along well with the primadonnas in the RM team. I recall a rumour I read that he is ostracised by the other players there, bar a few. So he may be willing to leave if it is a toxic place for him.
30 Mar 2026 14:16:00
We need tough strong fast midfielders, we can only have so many silky players in our team, unfortunately the prem looks like it's heading like the way Arsenal play, all set pieces, throw ins, corners, we need a combative midfield to cope.
30 Mar 2026 14:58:08
In all honesty, I wouldn't read too much into formation with Xabi. His emphasis seems to be a team's ability to transition to new formations mid-match, and starting each match with a formation based on the opposition. Personally, I think Guler can be quite wasteful.
He's not high up my list. I would love a proper DM, a ball winner, that can sit in a back 3 or play part of a pivot, and not get dragged forward, but know when to sit and protect the back 2.
30 Mar 2026 15:20:38
Anderson should be the top target for us.
30 Mar 2026 16:45:00
We need a "Dunga" in our team, if you can remember him in Brazil's team. Going around the pitch quietly assaulting people and winning battles.
30 Mar 2026 16:48:27
Anderson would be great but he comes with an English tax and we can get better value elsewhere.
30 Mar 2026 16:50:05
Seems a strange move with Dom and Wirtz already at the club. So, we not bothering with Diomande, Olise now?
30 Mar 2026 18:31:09
BeKind agreed he'd be expensive but we are going to have to keep an eye on our non homegrown quota.
30 Mar 2026 19:52:01
Has Alonso signed?
30 Mar 2026 20:46:14
@1jj, In some dimensions he has, in this one the nearest we are is Bild 'reporting XA is done', which is good enough for me.
30 Mar 2026 20:58:14
Old rumour has been doing the rounds since at least 2024. The idea that he wanted to bring him in at Liverpool was reported back in late Jan or early February. I'd imagine this is just a recycling of that same story.
30 Mar 2026 08:40:38
Apparently Leeds interested in Elliot if he doesn't move to Villa. Think we would want the same fee of £35m.
30 Mar 2026 09:25:39
I just hope wherever Harvey ends up, he gets game time. He's way too good in my opinion to be warming a bench, especially due to commercial politics like we have seen at Villa this season.
30 Mar 2026 10:00:54
I'd keep him.
30 Mar 2026 10:38:03
He won't be going to Villa. Safe to say that he'd probably rather defecate in his own hands and clap with his mouth wide open than ever sign permanently for them or play for a team managed by Unai Emery.
30 Mar 2026 10:43:02
Really, Victor !!!!!
30 Mar 2026 11:58:56
I would keep Elliot if Slot is leaving, he is a good player when used right. Klopp used him in 50 games or so in his last season, so he can't be that bad!
30 Mar 2026 12:52:20
If we were playing 3.4.2.1 under Alonso, he'd be decent cover for one of the 2 am's.
30 Mar 2026 13:11:32
Somewhere like Leipzig would suit him better and could be used as part of a Diamonde deal if we are signing him.
30 Mar 2026 14:15:53
That's your best one yet, Viktor. Made me laugh out loud reading that. 🤣
30 Mar 2026 16:51:18
Lad wants to play though. To be a starter. That's why he made the decision to leave in the first place.
30 Mar 2026 19:57:30
Spot on, Max and Gmil. He would suit that position, I think, is HG, a club fan, and only got fazed out under Slot due to not having his desired attributes. I definitely keep him. His eye and ability for a through ball or pass over the top are massively underrated.
29 Mar 2026 17:24:06
Chelsea and Liverpool could battle it out for the signature of Switzerland Under-21s captain Roggerio Nyakossi.
30 Mar 2026 12:49:15
What would the battle consist of? Rock, paper scissors? Scrabble? PlayStation? Answers in a postcard please.
30 Mar 2026 13:27:38
A Game of Thrones joust tournament would be good.
30 Mar 2026 18:01:47
Hopscotch Battle Royale.
