Interest in Sudakov gone now eds?

June nkunku

{Ed002's Note - Heorhiy/Georgiy Sudakov (AM) Brighton and Barcelona interest has gone with the outrageous financial demands. Arsenal have been regularly scouting the player but it has gone no further. Seen by Chelsea as an option to Arsen Zakharyan who they were repeatedly blocked from signing and eventually moved to Real Sociedad - but they will not pay the asking price, so it would need to be lowered. Spurs have a growing interest. Manchester United have sent scouts but it is hard to see their need for an AM player. Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa Napoli and Bayern Munich have also sent scouts but none have declared an interest. Juventus see him as a relaible replacement for Mohamed Ihattaren as they search for an AM player but again the finances are a significant issue.}

1.) 31 Jul 2024 14:44:37
Why would we be considering a AM player. Its one area we are over-stocked.

{Ed002's Note - It was simply a case of Liverpool sending scouts.}

2.) 31 Jul 2024 19:45:47
Nice chap. Very ambitious.

28 Jul 2024 00:59:28
Doak wanted by Leicester and Southampton on loan, could stay and get cup games nd dead rubber champions league ties but i think either club playing most weeks would be a good experience for him. The boy has it he just needs refining.

June nkunku

1.) 28 Jul 2024 08:13:27
Especially at a premier league team I think it would be a great move for the lad.

2.) 28 Jul 2024 08:33:11
I think a move like that would be great for him, full of raw potential doak but on start of last years performances, before his injury, he looks like he has long way to go composure wise. regular 1st team football with likes of prem teams would no doubt help that.
Funny enough i thought he looked better when he 1st joined us 2 seasons ago, seemed to be almost 1st team reafy then, but on last year showings he not imo.

3.) 28 Jul 2024 08:39:26
I don't think he's far off from playing a more integral role for the team this year. Will be interesting to see what Slot thinks and does.

4.) 28 Jul 2024 09:36:34
I honestly don't think Doak should move to a Premier League team on loan this season. Not because he is not good enough, but because, if things are going poorly for Leicester City or Southampton, and they are fighting relegation, they may look to their own players rather than loanees. When you are in a relegation scrap, teams tend to rely and trust their own players, because they believe it means more to them, they are willing to work through the dogged work, etc. Loan players don't have much to lose, as, whether they stay up or not, they'll simply move back to their original club at the end.

I would prefer a Championship team, ala Elliott and Morton moves. These moves have outlined their benefits. Doak needs to play for a team that has most of the ball, creates good chances, rather than a low Prem team that will be on the backfoot constantly. Doak's Achilles heel right now is his decision making (i. e. final pass and finish) to develop this he needs to face more of these opportunities in a competitive environment, as well as training on his own.

Either way, he looks lightning and you can only hope he works on his game and becomes a genuine option at right wing. The lad clearly has something, and his speed sets him out as an even more enticing option, not to mention his one on one dribbling.

Fingers crossed.

5.) 28 Jul 2024 12:12:57
Defo prefer a championship loan unless he can nail down being Salah's go to cover. If he can't then yeah a loan spell like Morton, Elliot etc could do him good.

6.) 28 Jul 2024 12:16:42
I think your right mango as regards doak playing for a team that bed on front foot as opposed to a team content to concede possession, the more times he on the ball with a chance to play a killer ball the better he should get at it.
I seen southampton few times last season and i v impressed with them, definitely try to play.

7.) 28 Jul 2024 12:20:16
Tbh I think doak has a lot to work on especially his final ball, imo at this moment he’s just like Adama Traoré all pace.

8.) 28 Jul 2024 11:44:44
I don’t think he will get much game time for a Pl team and certainly not Liverpool. A good Championship side would be far better in my opinion.

9.) 28 Jul 2024 11:49:20
I’m with Mango, think a move to a good championship club would have been better. Look how many minutes Morton and Carvalho got at Hull. If it starts going wrong at Leicester or Southampton Doak will be on the bench which isn’t good for his development.

10.) 28 Jul 2024 13:03:30
Most 18 yr olds do Fatwallet. Not many wanted on loan by multiple Premier League sides though.

11.) 28 Jul 2024 21:05:48
I think he’d benefit from a promotion chasing Championship team who are expected to dominate the ball rather than a lower end premier league team.

27 Jun 2024 18:19:32
Ryam McAidoo eds, heard anything on him?

June nkunku

{Ed002's Note - He is a child from Chelsea - I would need to check. Is he 16 or so? It is a pity that Liverpool cannot build an academy.}

1.) 27 Jun 2024 21:23:59
A pity Chelsea don't build a team around the fantastic young players they develop instead of shipping them off to pay for some expensive kids you've never heard of from who knows where. Aren't they now after some Argentine kid who's only played three games? The irony is a team full of Chelsea academy alumni is genuinely better than the team they've got and how much did it cost them?

2.) 27 Jun 2024 21:27:30
We did, few of them beat Chelseas 1st team at wembley last february?.

3.) 27 Jun 2024 21:42:14
He’s 16 and is seemingly, according to the 4th estate, off to Arsenal. I assume the influx of nearly ready South Americans and ex-City Academy signings is disheartening for the kiddies at the Chelsea Academy.

4.) 28 Jun 2024 07:29:48
The same Chelsea who splashed £45 mill to sign Palmer form city ?.

5.) 27 Jun 2024 21:22:28
I think ours has been pretty successful Ed to be fair, I’m certain we would of kept hold of players like rice ake olise Guehi and not let them slip away, bit of a waste, it must be extremely frustrating Ed ?.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think the Liverpool Academy has been successful and it is something the club must work on for the future.

Players left Chelsea mainly because of a policy of not guaranteeing game time to youngsters - whereas in Klopp's time at Liverpool, players were promised game time to entice them to join - which in many cases was simply a lie.

Rice left when he was released by the club. Others like Musiala left for different reasons - in his case BREXIT.}

6.) 28 Jun 2024 10:40:26
So it’s basically irrelevant saying how great the Chelsea academy is if the players don’t even stick around. I’d understand if you still had them all in the first team but you basically just get them too a level and they move on and become even better. did you make Musiala and rice, not really! The players who may have been there at one point or at least the ones who look like they could become serious players in the future no longer play for Chelsea and jumped ship which says a lot.

{Ed002's Note - You are an idiot. You just don't get it. The Chelsea Academy has been churning out players who have been hugely success and stayed at the club for years. In recent times, Reece James, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Christiansen, Colwill, Gallacher, Abraham, etc. have all come through the Academy and become regulars for Chelsea. Liverpool can only aspire to such success. Musiala left because of BREXIT and nothing else. Rice was released at 14. They have not been "jumping ship".

7.) 28 Jun 2024 12:23:25
I agree Chelsea's academy is way beyond probably all but Man City's in the Premier League.

But using Christansen (a player signed at 16) as a highlight of how good Chelsea's academy is, in a post lambasting Liverpool for looking at 16 year olds and not building their academy is very hypocritical to be fair mate.

{Ed002's Note - You keep scratching around embarrassing yourselves.}

8.) 28 Jun 2024 12:55:20
It's not realistic for Liverpool to aspire to Chelsea's level of success as Chelsea are working with a much larger talent pool in London and the South East compared to the North West where we are competing with massive academies like United, City and Everton.

Musiala also left because Bayern offered a clearer pathway into the first-team than Chelsea, not just because of Brexit.

9.) 28 Jun 2024 13:01:39
I'm honestly not scratching, just an observation.

I haven't mentioned ours being good or yours not being great. Just an odd name to use, given your argument was based around a 16 year old.

{Ed002's Note - That was not what my comment was regarding.}

10.) 28 Jun 2024 13:31:05
Trent
Jones
Clark
Morton
Quansah
Elliott (to an extent)
Doak
Kone-Doherty
Kelleher

Yeah. Awful.

11.) 28 Jun 2024 13:33:47
Gunn and yet people in this thread are saying Chelsea didn’t make Musiala the player he is, Bayern did and they signed him at 16. Bit of a double standard there.

12.) 28 Jun 2024 16:05:44
And Bradley?.

13.) 28 Jun 2024 17:13:25
Lmao all them players ed02 listed are absolute garbage. Trent jones Bradley quansah kehheler are all better than any of them very average if not rubbish players I think you lose this time ed.

14.) 28 Jun 2024 18:11:38
Joining lFC according to good sources. snatched away from AFC at the last minute.

15.) 28 Jun 2024 20:04:45
You have to agree with eds here. look how much money chelsea make by selling players who are on loan, guehi, tomorrow, Abraham etc. latest to join Hutchinson.

Who is last liverpool players who perform well on loan and then was sold for hefty sum. only IBe comes to my mind.

Chelsea have a seriously good business model where in they make lots of money on loaning and selling young players.

{Ed001's Note - and then use that money to buy worse players on a higher wage. It is far from a good business model and it has left them mired in midtable. Their system may make money, but it doesn't make sense.}

16.) 28 Jun 2024 20:47:34
The success of an academy should be measured by how many players it puts into professional football in my opinion. It’s very easy for us as fans to think of youth players as assets who will hopefully save us money or win us trophies one day. That’s a fairly commonly accepted idea of what an academy should do.

But ultimately these are kids with hopes, dreams, emotions and hearts that can be broken. So for me, the number one priority of an academy is keeping the kids in a football related career and if that isn’t possible, making sure they still learn the tools needed to succeed in life and emotionally deal with the devastation of having your dream crushed at 14-21 years old.

I think from that point of view, Chelsea are maybe slightly better at developing young people in their academy than we are (historically at least) . But our academy is doing very well in the last 5 years and is finally catching up to the likes of Chelsea. The players who aren’t making it for us are starting get better careers after they leave our club.

We’re not producing as many top level players as Chelsea still, but we’re getting a lot of them careers in the football league if nothing else. And you cannot underestimate the importance of that from a human aspect. I know people who failed to make it in football after years in various academy’s and some of them still aren’t over it mentally even in their 40’s.

We’re doing better than we were and things seem to be on an upward trajectory. We’ve not got more talent in the academy than we had in the past, we’re just giving them a pathway to first team opportunities or finding them loans that are good for them instead of loans that are good for us. We have had loads of talented players who we held back in u21’s football for far too long or tossed out on loan to clubs looking for squad padding.

But that’s all changed in recent years. We’re constantly bringing kids up from the academy to cameo for the first team. And when we get them loans, we get them loans where they’ll play. And if they don’t play we terminate them and find them a new loan. It’s significantly improved from the days where we allowed talented young players get stuck in limbo.

17.) 28 Jun 2024 22:05:43
Come off it Ed that is hilarious ?
hugely success and stayed at the club for years. In recent times, Reece James, Loftus-Cheek, Mount, Christiansen, Colwill, Gallacher, Abraham

Literally Reece James when fit hasn’t been bad and Christiansen but the rest please

John Terry and Graham lesaux (excuse spelling) are the only decent players Chelsea have grown while understanding the potential they had and not letting them go, churning out ???, + rice olise ake guehi they became the players they are under other managers nothing to do with the quality of the youth team, decent players educated by better management
Everyone else has been kak, not to mention the first team players Chelsea has dismissed and discarded, salah for example.

{Ed002's Note - It is simply degraded in to the usual embarrasing abuse.}

18.) 29 Jun 2024 06:54:34
I get the fact that the Chelsea has been “churning out” (great phrase) young men to be, in a lot of cases, sold on at a reasonable to large profit to the highest bidder and I also fully understand that it is a business, but I have to say a model based solely on the creation of profit with a view to feeding a market rather than bringing youngsters through to play at an elite level for the club, doesn’t sit well from a sporting perspective.

As has been mentioned, the fact that the money seems to be re-invested any any number of the ‘next big thing’ - especially in late teenagers / early young adults from completely different cultures, not only negates the effects of the ‘good work’, for want of a better phrase, but also suggests to me that it’s an awful lot of effort and kerfuffle to keep finishing mid-table.

I suppose I could wait to see what happens in 2030, when, no doubt all will be unveiled. I guess if it is I will feel mightily embarrassed.

Anyway, it’s the Liverpool site - who really gives a stuff about about Chelsea, to be honest?

19.) 29 Jun 2024 07:00:27
Ed002 - take no notice

Ed001 - it’s the 8 year contracts I find baffling, really not good if they want to move a player on.

{Ed001's Note - it is a mistake that will come back to bite them.}

20.) 29 Jun 2024 09:56:38
Reading this thread is like listening to Tories try to defend their increasingly undefendable position hahaha brilliant, just stop.

21.) 29 Jun 2024 14:20:27
@Drogie, why should Ed02 take no notice? I assume he / she is a grown-up who appreciates that there is give and take in life. The banter started with the usual preposterous claim about our interest in the Chelsea academy which is ironic really as the only one at either club who came from the other’s academy is Sterling. It seems Ed02 might have his / her own fixation about a Liverpool FC fixation that perhaps isn’t backed up by fact and is in fact the pot calling the kettle, or perhaps just the pot stirring.

22.) 29 Jun 2024 14:47:14
WDW - solanke.

23.) 29 Jun 2024 16:33:15
True that @Jay, my mistake.

Good to see young Gordon get on the scoresheet for England u20's following up his 1st goal for Norwich before the International break. Has an uphill task now to make it at Lfc but maybe shouldn't be written off totally yet.

June nkunku

1.) 15 Oct 2024 17:36:24
Sold for 15m next summer?

13 Aug 2024 09:18:08
Love how flip-flopping is the new buzzword. Can see both sides of this"we need signings"debate. Personally i felt we needed a bit going into the summer. Not wholesale 5 or 6 signings stuff, but 1 or 2 quality signings to improve the 1st 11.Doesnt look likely now so unfortunately we get on with it, huge game in 4 days.

June nkunku

1.) 13 Aug 2024 09:29:34
The wage bill is considerably lower and the net spend is in the black so from a business side its all good.

It sounds like the club haven't even started negotiations on contracts yet and the murmurs are that this could also be Alison's last season.

We've got a load of unproven Premier league youngsters and manager who is regarded as an excellent coach and tactician so let's just strap ourselves in and see how this pans out as the football is about to start.

Pre Season wise we've actually looked really impressive so if we can transfer that to competitive fixtures then who knows what this season will bring.

The longer the contract issues go on though the more i fear some of these players might check out.

VVD has always been a laid back character but the last few interviews he has given he's been a little prickly.

This will be Ipswhich first game in the Premier League for 22 years so they are going to be well up for it on Sat. 2 years ago we turned up at newly promoted Fulham on the opening day and almost got turned over and then started the season awfully.

A win on sat will set the tone.

2.) 13 Aug 2024 09:41:10
We could lose 3 worldclass players on frees.

3.) 13 Aug 2024 09:48:08
JK, Ipswich away is the game you most definitely don’t want first. Would rather play City before they get going. Do you think we will beat Ipswich?

4.) 13 Aug 2024 10:18:55
June the debate is not just we need 3 signings, that’s not even the most important thing. We have 3 very important players whose contracts are about to run out. In addition our best player Allison seems likely to leave in a year as well.

It’s an absolute Sh1t show and they couldn’t have handled it any worse.

5.) 13 Aug 2024 10:21:43
Has it also dawned on anybody the three in particularly might be seeing how the season starts before they commit?

Following legendary managers is normally not a particularly good period for clubs.

Why tie themselves down when if the crap hits the fan they have an easy way out and a payday next summer. To an extent you would either have to be extremely loyal player or an idiot to do so at this stage.

6.) 13 Aug 2024 10:22:14
100% i think we'll beat Ipswich mate.

But that doesn't translate to the fact we will.

Without being arrogant about it every single one of our players is better than theirs and we are also a better team.

No doubts they will bring exceptional passion, effort, physicality and fight. We just need to match that and then let our football do the talking.

They will run themselves into the ground on Sat and if our players do then we have top class quality on the bench to come on.

But i would have said the same thing about Fulham 2 seasons ago so what do i know.

7.) 13 Aug 2024 10:24:33
Funny how a few weeks ago Virgil and Salah were finished and Trent had no position on a football pitch, according to 90% of the people on here. Now Hughes is a crap DOF for not extending their contracts. There is some flip flopping going on alright, but not sure it’s exclusive to Hughes! I took endless stick on here for saying Salah and Virgil should get new contracts, and even more so for saying Trent is still our best RB.

8.) 13 Aug 2024 10:43:14
It was just a couple of posters MK re Trent. I don't recall anyone saying don’t give VVD a new deal. As for Salah it’s sign a short extension or sell because it’s been proven over and over we need funds to compete.

To beat Ipswich I reckon we will need to score at least 3, but with our forwards it’s entirely possible.

9.) 13 Aug 2024 11:02:19
It was a lot more than a couple of posters mate. It was entire threads of it. 50+ posters at least I've seen say Salah should go and Trent can't defend.

I don't know what you're basing this requirement to score 3 on. We only conceded 2 goals combined in our 4 proper preseason games. and Even if you include the behind closed door games it's only 3 conceded in 6 games. There has been nothing to suggest we're weak defensively under Slot. Sevilla didn't even score until we started making changes. United couldn't score. Arsenal only managed to score 1 and that was basically against our 2nd string defence and midfield.

I'll stick my neck on the chopping board and say we beat Ipswich by a minimum of 3 goals.

10.) 13 Aug 2024 11:03:31
There’s no two sides to it we need signings. We aren’t the only club in the top 5 leagues that’s too good to sign anyone. The squad needs improvement.

11.) 13 Aug 2024 12:16:57
If were needing at least 3 goals to beat Ipswich you may throw your hat at it now.

12.) 13 Aug 2024 13:35:27
Time will tell and and I will happily admit to being wrong but I think they will cut through us multiple times. I will be astonished if we win by 3 goals. I think we are undercooked and will need luck to win.

13.) 13 Aug 2024 14:26:01
Friendlies mean nothing complete difference from prem league .

10 Aug 2024 16:53:57
Stealth work again outa the Pool with the Carvalho deal, not a dickie-bird about it with the ITK's. Hjw business should be done.

June nkunku

1.) 10 Aug 2024 17:32:02
So much for Slot wanting to look at the squad first. I was informed Carvalho played well in pre season ?‍♂️.

2.) 10 Aug 2024 17:43:25
He did, good enough to sell. Was never going to play w.

3.) 10 Aug 2024 18:00:31
Kaide Gordon to Swansea on loan as well.

Fans who love the net spend and wage bill being lowered will be having red panty night tonight with this news.

4.) 10 Aug 2024 18:01:36
Yes, Slot spent 6 weeks looking at Carvalho and decided he wasn’t good enough.

5.) 10 Aug 2024 18:03:45
Player stated he wanted to play #10, Slot wanted him to play wing.

6.) 10 Aug 2024 18:09:59
Or. Rover he looked and thought yes he’s played well but I have 3 other options to play on the LW. so maybe I don’t want to waste the lads career and the club can get a decent fee… if somebody said hey your going to get 20 million for Fabio who everybody keeps saying should be sold or has a bad attitude everybody would be jumping for joy. an actual fee that matches the lads talent.

7.) 10 Aug 2024 20:33:03
And dnt forget the 17.5 sell on.

8.) 10 Aug 2024 21:09:09
A good deal negotiated for a squad player.

9.) 11 Aug 2024 00:02:51
Klopp couldn’t wait to get him out of the door as soon as he arrived. Now Slot has known him for 6 weeks and has done the same.

Tells it’s own story I think.

10.) 11 Aug 2024 07:18:43
He will have a good career carvalho I wouldn’t be suprised to see him end up at spurs in the future.

11.) 11 Aug 2024 09:40:31
Good career …. Spurs ?.

12.) 11 Aug 2024 11:25:59
@TIR, is it possible that who ever informed you was, in fact, incorrect?

13.) 11 Aug 2024 14:11:07
WDW
I always knew he was being sold, I said it only days ago ?.

14.) 11 Aug 2024 14:11:07
WDW
I always knew he was being sold, I said it only days ago ?.

02 Aug 2024 07:50:37
Athletico getting a good deal with Gallagher for €40m. Would be all over him for that price, Chelsea's best midfielder last year.

June nkunku

{Ed014's Note - offer £40 million and a quid, would love to see him in your midfield.

1.) 02 Aug 2024 08:22:39
Crazy how his agent can negotiate a transfer whilst he’s on holiday and our players agents can’t seem to negotiate contract’s whilst our players are on holiday or at the euros or even between Sep and May actually.

2.) 02 Aug 2024 08:31:03
After wednesday night i think you have bigger worries than our midfield. ?.

{Ed014's Note - you mean you’ve got a midfield, when did that happen? ??

3.) 02 Aug 2024 09:30:17
I know your comment was tongue in cheek but I suppose the difference is it’s in Gallaghers interest to negotiate the deal to leave Chelsea as that’s what he wants to do.

Whereas it’s maybe in Trent’s interest to delay and try and get a better deal out of Liverpool or encourage a move to Madrid.

Just my opinion.

4.) 02 Aug 2024 09:59:08
Give over, we'll be passing it arond 9 touch Declan and the human snail jorginho for fun this season. Total Slotball.

{Ed014's Note - been watching England have we? ????

5.) 02 Aug 2024 10:45:52
Hes been watching arteta since beginning mate, doubt anyone will watch England ?.

6.) 02 Aug 2024 11:34:45
JN maybe you're joking but if you're not, it was a preseason game so no need to big it up any more than it was. We don't even know if this is the way both Slot and Arteta want to play with so many starters out for both teams. Good run out and work out for the boys but let's not use it to start bantering this or that team. Personally, not my thing.

7.) 02 Aug 2024 12:30:31
Why shouldn’t there be bantering on the banter page? Ed14 is a decent contributor to the fun. It’s preseason for the teams and for the fans - just warming up for the upcoming season.

01 Aug 2024 11:02:12
With Ibou down for 45 mins against Utd it'll be interesting to say who makes way first out of Jarell and Sepp.

June nkunku

1.) 01 Aug 2024 13:28:46
Quansah has been pretty immense but may be due a rest.

2.) 01 Aug 2024 15:32:10
The guys need minutes so Ibou should get some time.

3.) 02 Aug 2024 01:18:40
Agree @Oli, it’s pre-season so the more minutes all the squad can get, the better.

4.) 02 Aug 2024 07:22:37
Red men tv are reporting that a behind doors closed fixture is about to be announced for Saturday the 10th Aug as well which is the day before Sevilla.

For the life of me I can’t remember who they said the opposition was going to be but it allows maximum game time then for the whole squad over 2 games in 2 days as I think it’s 8 players who return after the US trip next week.

I should bloody well hope so MK, or are we meant to make a profit every summer like this one? Personally i think a young up and coming RB like Dibling from Southampton would be signed if Trent leaves. Fully expect him to stay tho.
