🚨 Manchester City enquired to Crystal Palace about Adam Wharton but were told 22yo midfielder not available this summer. England international among candidates on #MCFC recruitment list but #CPFC have no intention of selling before deadline @TheAthleticFC.

As much as I like Wharton, he is not what we need unless Macca leaves. We need a DM as your name states hahaha.

I really thought we'd sell Macca and sign Wharton this summer. However, with Macca confirmed as staying, there is absolutely no need for Wharton anymore.

Jones played 2850 minutes last season, and a large chunk of that was at RB (540 minutes). We've added Aruajo as extra RB cover now, though, and Iraola seems to trust Frimpong there as well, whereas Slot played Frimpong RW a lot. So we're only really looking to replace about 2300 minutes in midfield across every competition.

The main Jones replacement in midfield is quite simply going to be Szoboszlai. Iraola has made it very clear that Wirtz will be playing behind the striker for him, which pushes Szoboszlai back into midfield to rotate with Gravenberch and Mac Allister. I think Endo will stay as well for his experience and leadership, especially in the early Cup rounds when we'll play with lots of young players. With Nyoni and McConnell for additional depth, we have 3 players of starting quality and 3 back ups for just 2 positions in the team. By the end of the season, I think Nyoni may well prove himself to be starting quality as well.

That's pretty comfortable in terms of midfield depth, but I do question whether we lack a certain profile of player. I'd have sold Macca and bought a mobile ball winner like Camara, but I really don't see it happening now. We can't force Macca out if he doesn't want to leave.

Hopefully Iraola has a plan to get our midfield balanced again through good coaching and tactics. The rumours of Gavi are interesting as he's a mobile ball winner but he has a very questionable injury history. I'm therefore unconvinced we'll move for him at the price Barcelona will probably want.

20 Aug 2026 14:08:56
Spot on, MK. Some just want players bought for the sake of it. If Macca had left for a hefty fee, that's a different matter.

3

20 Aug 2026 14:09:15
Reports suggest Utd had agreed a fee with Barca for £35/40mil for the player, but the player turned them down.
That fee seems very reasonable.
It's unclear whether he turned them down because it's Utd, or because he doesn't want to leave at all.

Seems like a very "moneyball" target.
Quality player at a reasonable price, but has his own issues, from a club who's in financial diffs.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:12:02
If Macca wants his move to Madrid, then he is going to have to play for it this season. Can't imagine they would be interested in him on last season's performance.
On a side note, was it ever revealed what his mystery illness/injury was at the start of last season? Just wondering if that could explain his sudden lack of form. Maybe I'm clutching at straws!

1

20 Aug 2026 14:17:29
I agree that Szob will play in midfield with Grav, and, for me, he 100% has to. No one else has the strength, speed, endurance and mobility to operate there, other than him, who can cope with the workload that Iraola will be demanding.

That could, and maybe should, also massively help Grav, as long as he sits rather than keep wandering forward!

3

20 Aug 2026 14:22:16
Gingerlfc, I'm one of the most optimistic people in the entire fanbase judging by this forum, but is £40m really reasonable?

If you look at the last few players we've signed with a history of multiple knee injuries, it's Thiago Alcantara, Arthur Melo and Federico Chiesa. I know Gavi is younger and might therefore have a better chance of bouncing back, but honestly I would not be paying that much money for anyone with that kind of injury record.

Chiesa cost £12m, Arthur was a £3m loan fee, and Thiago was only £20m. Somehow I still feel we were ripped off despite only spending £35m on the trio! Players tend to come back well from an isolated/single ACL tear nowadays. But these deeper knee issues that reoccur multiple times just seem to be career destroying.

2

20 Aug 2026 14:23:57
I think people have forgotten all too quickly that our weak midfield won the Premier League just 1 year ago. Are we dismissing their ability too hastily, considering the entirety of the situation? If nothing else, that title win warrants an opportunity to redeem themselves this year under better management, I think.

4

20 Aug 2026 14:24:58
"On a side note, was it ever revealed what his mystery illness/injury was at the start of last season?"

He had hernia surgery.
That's why he didn't play the last few games of the title-winning season and was late back to pre-season last season.
Recovery from hernia surgery means little to no movement.

Spot on Chewy. Some people have very short memories.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:44:41
£35/40mil for a quality 22yr old playing for the one of the world's best teams, having won several league titles, World Cup winner with his country and has 4yrs left on his contract.

Not sure where you expect to pay much less.

0

20 Aug 2026 14:44:53
Having the midfield numbers and having a functional midfield are two different things.

Szobo & Grav are not a functional midfield pivot. Time will show that.

And Macca cares more about his Argentina team mates, hairline and yerba mate than he does for LFC.

Counting Endo for his leadership and experience is a joke. He was a stop-gap 3 seasons ago. He's now just dead weight that is using up a non-HG spot.

McConnell has looked way out of his depth in the preseason games so far, so I am surprised to hear he has been told he is staying.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:49:03
I'm not so sure MK/Chewy

Firstly, we can all agree we are missing a midfield profile. But, secondly, I think we need another body. We are a Gravenberg injury away from a Macca-Dom midfield where a kid who has never started a PL game (I don't think) will be the main back up for both double pivot spots? For 3 games per week?

I've loved what I've seen from Nyoni in pre-season, and he will get minutes with or without a new signing for sure, but he is still developing and many on here had written him off before those handful of friendly games.

It sounds comforting mentioning Endo and Mcconnell, but there's a reason nobody is coming in for them when they are both available. Can you imagine one of them being in your double pivot in a run of games, say Villa away, Bayern away, Arsenal away. Sometimes fixtures all like that on European weeks.

I'd feel different if Trey was a season older or it was the title winning version of Macca.

Bear in mind if Wirtz gets injured, Dom or Macca takes his place too most likely.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:52:09
Agree with you, Chewy. A lot of folk on here were saying that whoever comes in would sort things out, as it was all down to Slot and his tactics. So, let's give Iraola a chance to get a tune out of a Premiership winning midfield.

I await posters saying Salah won us the league. Well, we spent over 300 million on attacking players, last summer, to compensate for his loss.

1

20 Aug 2026 15:01:51
By October AI will teach Macca to do what Wharton does, to some extent, I believe. Hopefully, what our coach can squeeze out of this squad will help to keep afloat and above no-CL zone, maybe a domestic cup by season's end, who knows. Just having Iraola and lads coming back from injuries gives a lot of hope.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:18:31
My own thoughts here, just wondering if we could possibly encourage Harvey Elliott to move to Palace as part of a deal to buy Wharton. It would avoid Palace having to panic buy a replacement. I realise that would be a big ask and very difficult to get agreement from all parties, but sometimes anything is possible.

20 Aug 2026 12:02:48
So Mr Barcola is still a done deal is it? Been a done deal for like what 3 weeks now? Maybe the ITK’s in here can hopefully explain why it’s taking till deadline day to announce this signing. Is he wrapped up in a nice little box in Anfield waiting for deadline day to come so he can burst out of it and surprise the fans? Either way it’s not helping the team is it.

Whilst the other lot up north London are showing us how it’s done.

20 Aug 2026 12:47:03
What an insensitive post aimed at the ITKs....

99% of people here welcome and appreciate the posts by those ITKs, and then there are these 1% that simply ruin this for everyone.

16

20 Aug 2026 12:51:43
It is rather baffling as to what's taking so long, but you've got to just trust the process and the itk's....... No news is good news?

5

20 Aug 2026 12:52:39
United fan. 😝

4

20 Aug 2026 12:54:21
I think based on their posting history, "Kop" definitely needs to be replaced with "Bell".

12

20 Aug 2026 12:40:21
Should be ashamed of that username, what a troll.

8

20 Aug 2026 13:02:04
@KopEnd1-

Is it any wonder why ITK's are staying away and saying they won't post anymore when you get ranting like that.

Best thing for you would be to go and lie down in a darkened room for a while, when you wake up things may have changed.

4

20 Aug 2026 13:26:22
I'm ever the conspiracy theorist. Is it just stupid people posting, or an organized attempt to thwart the courageous work of our itk's??

The irony of this being a previous reply from the same individual

Kopend1 - wind your neck in!

I'd suggest the former, GB.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:44:31
The issue is the club, not ITK. All signings should have been done a long time ago. Absolutely horrid how they dropped the ball this bad. Poor Iraola.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:28:27
And And as usual ask a question in here and get attacked if it someone don't like it at least ED025 could reply without sounding like a hurt ex girlfriend. it was not an attack at the ITKs I never once said they are lying or anything I'm wondering what the hold up was and since they are ITK if they could spread any light on it I just added some sarcasm that's all.

isn't football meant to be banter and discussion absolutely weirdos man some of you. get a grip!

5

20 Aug 2026 13:52:33
There's a reason there's a deadline, and people need to just chill out a bit. We all know the areas where we need replacement and reinforcements, so just curb the extreme hunger for "shiny new toys right now". Iraola knows very well what he needs, and he'll make the decisions he needs to. We get so little accurate information as it is, and then to go after those who provide that little information is just either childish or senile.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:01:30
Think about it, guys, if it wasn't for the guys on here and social media, the only thing you'd know is that we spoke to PSG weeks ago, but they wanted too much money so the deal is difficult.

We probably would've forgotten about Barcola by now and be pleasantly surprised when the deal is announced.

It's the need to have blow by blow updates that causes the frustration. People like VG are good enough to try to fill that void, and give us updates when they get info. They just get constant criticism for it.

Just chill out, the club knows what needs to be done, and I'm sure they are working hard to do it. We all just need to relax and wait for the announcement.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:23:35
I'm frustrated as well but, I think maybe this will go to deadline day in the hope we get the price we want to pay because it's obvious PSG do not want him there.

We probably have the money they want, and if even on deadline day they don't budge, we'll pay it.

0

20 Aug 2026 14:28:55
It's from a place of frustration, not any personal attack. Again, I have never personally attacked any poster on here, let alone the ITKs that dish useful information. As I said, it's frustration. It was not fun going to watch this team play last season, and the team has gotten weaker, so it's frustrating that it could possibly be the same thing. So, for the other fans in this forum that are quick to dish abuse for any little thing, how about try (I know it may be quite hard for some of you) and have a discussion first, because my posts and venting might not always be right, but if the only way you can reply to it is by abuse, then that says more about you. And to the ITK guys, keep up the good work.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:38:06
@Barilla, with the best will in the world, you have unrealistic expectations.

0

20 Aug 2026 14:52:39
I think you know very well that most have replied to the cynicism and sarcasm in your "question" post, and not really the intent behind it.

20 Aug 2026 11:24:52
Hi all,

Figured I'd give another update, as I can absolutely understand why impatience is beginning to fester regarding the Barcola deal.

I absolutely thought it'd have been wrapped up by now with a medical completed - as did the player and his camp. However, negotiating the structure of the payments has proved to take a lot longer than expected and is what's causing it to drag out. But there's absolutely zero part of me that doesn't think this deal happens. He will be a Liverpool player, it's just taking its sweet time. It might be closer to deadline day than we previously wanted. Any concern of a hijacking or a collapse is wide of the mark.

Despite reports, I am still very confident about Mbaye. As I mentioned last week, a meeting with his representatives took place with ourselves that ended up being extremely positive. PSG are happy to move him on for the right price and now it's just about negotiating a fee. Similar to Barcola, all parties want it done.

There are rumours of other wide forwards being looked at but I haven't a clue who they are.

As for Wharton, I'm hearing less now than I was earlier in the summer. There's been whispers about a deal being discussed but I am not sure if it has any legs.

Barca are not looking to sell Gavi.

My prediction? Barcola in, Mbaye in, Gakpo out. All reasonably close to deadline day.

26

20 Aug 2026 11:56:53
Super! Thanks, VG!

4

20 Aug 2026 11:57:08
Cheers Vic, fingers crossed. I would still be slightly concerned with Gakpo leaving even though he's not amazing through the middle, unfortunately he's the best back up option we have currently to Isak until Ekitike is fit, and let's face it we might not see the best version of him this season after that injury.

Maybe he sees Wirtz as an option playing the false 9 (Bobby role), but then I'd worried, do we have wingers who can hit Salah numbers.

Interesting to see how it all plays out anyway. I don't know enough about Mbaye to be honest, maybe he's an option through the middle. Or maybe Koumas has done enough to warrant a chance.

Exciting times anyway! Looking forward to it all!

3

20 Aug 2026 12:02:48
Thanks VG... Just want it all wrapped up now.

1

20 Aug 2026 12:10:01
Cheers VG, agree it's taking its sweet time, but I have total faith in you... Would've just been nice for him to get in a little earlier to help in bed in a bit!

0

20 Aug 2026 12:11:21
Respect VG. 👍

1

20 Aug 2026 12:11:27
Munoz must be considered an option through the middle in that case. With his pace, it could work well. Thanks, VG.

6

20 Aug 2026 12:15:13
Crazy if we go into another season with Endo as our only CDM. We badly need a proper destroyer in midfield, someone who can win the ball without killing our build-up.

6

20 Aug 2026 12:21:30
Thanks Vic.

I can't see how letting Gakpo go makes us better squads weaker now then it was last season when we struggled for 5th.

Ornstein also saying CPFC told City Wharton going nowhere so pretty much like VG says scratch that off.

It interweb is blowing up with bullcrap every 3 hours there's a new Barcola update and personally, I don't think anyone has a clue what's going on there if we are near or far.

Season starts in 2 days, my only hope is we get good health and no injuries to through it.
I'll take top 4 spot now as I don't see anything else as it is with that squad I don't mean to be a neg Nancy but I don't see how any of our problems have been rectified. We are 2/3 injuries from a cluster F***.

7

20 Aug 2026 12:02:19
Have you heard anything about the possibility of Ireola trying to bring Alex Scott in??
Plus I understand Brighton have dropped their asking price for Carlos Baleba as
Man Un-United are said to want him and are looking at a figure closer to £65-£70m than the £100m plus fee previously wanted! Are we interested at all?? YNWA

0

20 Aug 2026 12:24:04
Cheers, VG.

Richard Hughes might as well have had the whole of June, July and half of August off. One release clause and one loan to date.

I hope Amit Bhatia is getting ready to make Campos an offer he can't refuse to be our next SD.

4

20 Aug 2026 12:24:23
Did you miss the bit where we won the league with Grav as DCM?

The lad has proved that he can play the role and play the role very well. His form was poor last season, but that may have been largely due to there being no real plan for the side to follow.

8

20 Aug 2026 12:28:24
We won't bring Alex Scott in, I don't think anyways. I imagine the club are weary of signing Bournemouth players as they often bring inflated prices and can be a gamble. However, there is huge interest in Rayan.

11

20 Aug 2026 12:34:36
Didn't Hughes mess up the Zubimendi transfer by spending weeks trying to negotiate better terms, only for the player to change his mind?

5

20 Aug 2026 12:35:10
Thanks VG.

2

20 Aug 2026 12:37:11
Thanks VG, hope we still get a DM, dare I say, it's more important than an attacker at the moment.

2

20 Aug 2026 12:37:35
WDW, hope that is gaslighting.

1

20 Aug 2026 12:49:40
Thanks VG.

Top post.

2

20 Aug 2026 13:00:07
Thanks, VG, this makes perfect sense regards Barcola. Like many fans, I worry about squad depth. I know we have players coming back soon, but some are coming back from long term injuries. I do worry that all the changes behind the scenes have affected our ability to bring in new players.

Do you think this is the case? Will Iraola be backed further in the final days of the transfer window? Do you think the young players who have been brought into the squad (Nyoni, Ngumoha, McConnell etc) are good enough to step into the first team?

0

20 Aug 2026 13:07:54
Apparently Palace aren't interested in selling Wharton this summer. According to various media sites today.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:15:23
Thank you, VG.

If so, Barcola, Mbaye in.
Jones, Gakpo out.

Will there be no other midfield signings?

0

20 Aug 2026 13:16:37
Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world and financially we are very secure. This means that no matter what, we are a top draw for any player even if we are going through a bit of a rough patch.

Despite the echoes of some internet content creators who like to anger the fan base for clicks, the club are doing a lot of work behind the scenes and I expect a busy end to the window.

As for the youngsters, they're all trusted by the coaching staff and therefore I trust they will perform when needed. Ngumoha, in particular, doesn't need any extra approval. Kid's a superstar in the making, but his minutes will need to be managed of course.

6

20 Aug 2026 13:22:36
Brighton in for Camara apparently.
Does this mean we'll pay Brighton double for him in January? 😂

3

20 Aug 2026 13:27:54
Good man Vic, cheers for info.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:29:19
Thanks VG, I needed reassurance! I don't want us to lose momentum despite last season's snore fest! I'm excited for Iraola's brand of football...

0

20 Aug 2026 13:34:38
Thanks, VG, I really appreciate your input.

0

20 Aug 2026 13:36:43
I'd say Rayan would be a bigger risk and come with a more inflated fee than Scott.

1

20 Aug 2026 13:26:50
VG,

There's been one or two whispers of Solanke on loan as part of the Gakpo deal with Spurs. Would make a lot of sense as striker cover for a season while Ekitike gets back fit without taking up a foreign player spot in the squad, given he's seemingly falling down the pecking order at Spurs. Don't suppose you've heard anything?

Cheers

0

20 Aug 2026 13:43:48
Keep her lit, VG. I pay absolutely zero attention to the clowns on here selling snake oil. They know who they are. We all know who they are. I know who to trust.

1

20 Aug 2026 14:44:52
Nice one, VG.

0

20 Aug 2026 14:55:42
I've not heard anything regarding Solanke, no.

I can see a move abroad on the cards for him. Spurs want a straight deal for Gakpo but a player + cash has also been discussed.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:08:11
Ok, the obvious question - which player.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:14:26
Not sure what player. I just heard of a player being involved in discussions. Likely some deadwood they're trying to offload.

0

20 Aug 2026 15:16:56
Lol. Throws a bunch of baseless claims around but says they're unlikely to happen before saying what we all know if likely to happen. Can't believe the people in here eat all this up. Gullible lot.

0

20 Aug 2026 10:27:16
Now Jones is on his way, will this finally start the ball rolling? It's so frustrating waiting and I trust the ITK's but just want to see the likes of Barcola training with the team ready to go, I have this horrible worry what happened last season with Guehi will happen again with Barcola.

Cheers

11

20 Aug 2026 10:51:33
Pretty sure we are not going to get him. We can't sign him for 2 months. Hughes doesn't care. I can't believe how, for the whole summer, we didn't buy a right winger. Season is over even before start.

9

20 Aug 2026 10:57:32
Cheer up, Rudjo!!

It's not as bad as you think lad.

9

20 Aug 2026 11:07:28
Rudjo, cheer up, man.

I remember when we used to say every year this is our year.

It's the biggest deal we are doing this year, so finance needs to be correct as there are also other areas that need sorting too.

We are probably still paying for other signings made last season and funds aren't endless.

I believe it will happen.

But the delay has definitely been frustrating. Deals can close quickly, such as Munoz and Araujo.

1

20 Aug 2026 11:08:23
I expect us to sign Bracola or the club knows the fans would be on the streets. My only grief would be that we would pay the money what PSG always wanted from the first day!!

2

20 Aug 2026 11:16:04
Another day no Barcola. Been 3 weeks as a done deal.

3

20 Aug 2026 11:16:53
Sukhyrai, No self respecting Liverpool supporter ever says this year is our year. The amount of areas needing attention, and here we are on the eve of the pl kucking off, and we are scandalously short in so many areas. What has Hughes been in the last 6 months? He has been an unmitigated disaster of an appointment.

5

20 Aug 2026 11:19:42
Hughes is damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.

Tell me you weren’t buzzing when we signed Wirtz and Isak last summer. We all were. Finally, Liverpool FC are going after the very best talents in the world and are prepared to pay the money takes to get them.

Then we have a bad season and everyone says it’s Hughes’s fault, he overpaid etc, etc., even though he did shave substantial sums from the asking prices.

Fast forward to this summer and we are going after the very best winger on the market. PSG have quoted a price and Hughes is trying to get a deal done that suits us financially. PSG don’t need the money and don’t particularly need to sell him, so it was always going to be a tough negotiation.

We could’ve always just paid them the £145m they wanted, but then Hughes would get slated for overpaying.

I’m not here to defend Hughes, like everyone who seems to want to comment on his ability, I have no idea how good he is. I have to say though, since he’s been at the club, it’s been refreshing to see how ambitious we’ve been in the transfer market.

In years gone by, Munoz would’ve been bought as our main winger, hoping we could improve him. These days, we have more ambition than that, and I quite like it.

11

20 Aug 2026 11:47:57
Some of you on here need to develop a bit of mettle. Watch some footage of Ronnie Moran, or read his perspective.

It's the beginning of the season. We deserve, and we should expect, nothing. Whatever happened last season goes in a box, and we start afresh.

No point moaning about players who have moved on or, worse, we have failed to sign. We support the 11 in red who are on the field at any given time.

8

20 Aug 2026 12:29:11
I can understand a bit of frustration, but I don’t think it’s as bad as some people think. 2 seasons ago we won the league and only brought in Chiesa. Everyone thought we would struggle for Champions League. Also, this clammer to sign a rw Salah replacement. The problem is, there isn’t one in world football. Isak was bought to replace Salah. Isak is our 20+ goals a season replacement. We have signed Munoz, and hopefully Barcola comes, but to expect them players to get Mo's numbers is unrealistic.

They are there to chip in but mostly to supply Isak/Ekitike. What’s the point of paying £200m on 6 foot + strikers if you're not gunna service them. So, those saying Munoz and Barcola, or even Rio, can’t play on the right, are missing the point. We don’t want our wingers always cutting back onto their strong foot and shooting. That’s why Gyokeres won’t hit 20+ goals a season.

1

20 Aug 2026 12:35:56
With all due respect, if we wanted to buy players from Wrexham or Scunthorpe or Colchester or Everton, the deal would be done in about 10 minutes with the players and clubs raking our hand off for the money.
It's a bit different when you are trying to sign someone from an elite team. In the case of Barcola, we are dealing with a massive club that doesn't need the money and is probably the best club in the world at the minute.

It's not like nipping out to the petrol station to buy a packet of fags, or a computer game were you press a button and it's done,
To assume that we know what is or isn't going on, in this case a business transaction in excess of £100m, is at the very best naive.and at worst demonstrates a degree of ignorance of business practices.

Ed001 what's your over all assessment of Hughes? Please be as honest as you can

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - Richard Hughes? You know he is a big favourite of mine, a wonderful man doing a fantastic job. Seriously, I have never rated him. I remember arguing with MKS about him before he arrived that he had never shown any ability to spot a top class player and I still feel the same now. He has no negotiation skills, not once have we paid anything other than top dollar for a player in his time. And he can't even be bothered to commit to the job enough to move nearby. A good sporting director would be at training to look over the players every day, how else does he really know for sure what is missing from the squad? He should be guiding the recruitment, but he has no knowledge of what we have. The guy is nothing but a conman. Anyone with a copy of football manager could do what he has done since joining us.}

Agreed, Riosstepover.

Hi all,

As stated previously, we're working to make a bid for Adam Wharton. He's keen to play for us.
The cost is lower than what the media sources say ...
At the same time, CP have an arduous task to bring in a replacement in time. Make of it what you like.

11

20 Aug 2026 11:01:46
Going into the last two weeks of the window, negotiating with Palace over a player to whom they haven't a replacement lined up. That worked out last summer didn't it?

12

20 Aug 2026 11:09:19
Please help me, why did we not negotiate this earlier in the window? What did we save?

3

20 Aug 2026 11:15:18
The club were doing it to wind you up, @WHNDM.

5

20 Aug 2026 11:17:31
Just leave the midfield as it is. 3 out of the 4 won the league. Who does Iraola drop for Wharton? Szobozlai and Gravenberch just signed new deals. I think Macallister leaves on a free in 2 years, so go and get him next year.

Palace are a nightmare to deal with, so left it a bit late to get a late deal for their best midfielder.

4

20 Aug 2026 11:31:26
My uneducated guess would be that Jones is gone, so now there's more of a need for him.
He may have been a target even if Jones stayed, but now there's room for a good squad player.

2

20 Aug 2026 11:52:21
Ornstein has just released an article saying Wharton isn't for sale this summer and Cp have rebuffed an approach from Man City.

0

20 Aug 2026 12:02:49
I'm sorry, but we are absolutely not working on a deal to sign Wharton this summer. Maybe we go after him next summer, this summer, absolutely forget it.

1

20 Aug 2026 12:39:51
We spent months and months last season decrying Slot for not giving players a chance. Jones is leaving, and Nyoni looks ready to step up and cement a role within the squad. Why don't we trust AI to take a lad with massive potential into a first class player? Saves us literally £100m and addresses the all to bring the youngsters through.

2

20 Aug 2026 13:08:40
WDW, the intensity of play is very different now. We need more top players to rotate if we are to challenge in all competitions.

1

20 Aug 2026 13:42:38
No one's saying he won't, WDW. But Jones needs to be replaced in any case.

1

20 Aug 2026 15:03:10
@HH, In what way is 'the intensity of play...very different now'? I don't understand what you mean. The intensity is the intensity as far as I can see.

Florian Plettenberg Reporting we have entered talks for Baleba and the player prefers us.

7

19 Aug 2026 21:40:11
If you're talking about the post from the Florian Plettenberg (FAN) Twitter account, yep, that ain't Florian Plettenberg.

27

19 Aug 2026 21:43:46
That's from the Florian Plettenberg (FAN) account ... not the one from the real reporter. 😁

4

19 Aug 2026 21:38:07
Where's he done that lol?

19 Aug 2026 21:41:42
Yes please pulling down the mancs pants and spanking their backside hard would be brilliant.

5

19 Aug 2026 22:18:17
Fresh off the back of a shocking season. Very average player.

8

19 Aug 2026 22:50:39
Always read the Twitter handle. Loads of Ornstein accounts and so on.

1

19 Aug 2026 23:33:05
LFC8, joining a team who had a 'shocking season' to a man?

4

20 Aug 2026 08:17:05
That's very true, McGoveb 😂
Sod it, get Justin Beliber in then. The more, the merrier.

1

19 Aug 2026 19:36:58
Spurs in talks over Savinho and Marmoush, so Gakpo staying?

4

19 Aug 2026 21:35:31
No, as they still want Gakpo as he plays on left, Savinho plays rw & Marmoush plays no 10 or as striker.

2

19 Aug 2026 21:37:56
They want CG for CF.

3

19 Aug 2026 21:44:51
Spurs with zero CL revenue. Mind you.

4

19 Aug 2026 21:56:52
Spurs have gotten 17th the past two seasons...don't understand how players are choosing to go there.

Yeah, didn't they give Robbo more money and a four year deal.

8

19 Aug 2026 22:19:58
van de ven signed spuds contract extension today, LFC interested in Nwaneri of Arsenal, who are close to signing Konsa and Alvarez in this mornings papers. Reinjders gone from moneychester to Saudi League, Haaland has a mystery injury, Fernandez and Cold Palmer to moneychester also, doing the rounds, Rodri gone the biggie they are doomed with a midfield two of Kovacic and Anderson, none of them would get into our four midfield quartet, Mascara of moneychester favourite at the bookies for the big welly first.

Ed025 Moyes after Nwaneri on a season-long loan, good loan signing that, and for Arteta to take points of rivals by EFC doing well against PL opposition.

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i would certainly take him Bond, far better than we have at the moment mate..

4

20 Aug 2026 06:55:00
Liverpool should be trying to sign Nwaneri.
Rayan would be my first choice for the rw, but I've been hoping we could get Nwaneri for some time.
Pace, ball skills, he has them in abundance and he's homegrown. Needs to work a bit on strength, but he's very young and that will come.

He also has to work on game intelligence and final ball. That will definitely improve under Iraola.
Arsenal have Madueke and Max Dowman, so Nwaneri has to make a decision on his career. He needs game time.

2

19 Aug 2026 22:45:33
It's all about the Shekels Ed025

19 Aug 2026 19:35:31
Does anyone know if there is any truth in Baleba being offered to us instead of UTD? And how he wants us over them? I think he’d fulfil that 6 role, has Premier League experience and maybe is a safer bet, fitness wise, than Gavi? Obviously if Gavi can stay fit and prove it, I’d take Gavi.

4

19 Aug 2026 21:14:42
I hope not. What a terrible signing that would be.

14

19 Aug 2026 21:16:56
I think this has just been made up to piss Utd fans off.

12

19 Aug 2026 21:16:56
He's desperate to join Utd.

7

19 Aug 2026 23:12:31
No reliable sources, just bottom-tier fan accounts. He's not an improvement on Grav anyway.

1

19 Aug 2026 18:09:26.
Kieran Morrison looks like he’ll go on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.

Calvin Ramsay looks like he’ll go on loan to St Mirren.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe looking like he’s going to Levante on loan.

Curtis Jones sale agreed to Inter Milan.

I did say the other day we’ll probably see 10-12 players leave the club in these final 2 weeks of the window and it looks like that exodus is starting. Hopefully clearing space for some new signings!

29

19 Aug 2026 18:36:56
The exodus is here
The happy ones are near.

8

19 Aug 2026 18:47:42
Do you still trust Richard Hughes to make signings? He might blow 130 mill on 1 player again, but that'll likely be it.

15

19 Aug 2026 18:57:41
What's that slogan, stay calm and support Liverpool, so stay calm, allow the process to work and enjoy all the new names.

16

19 Aug 2026 19:05:38
Calvin Ramsay looked sharp in pre-season, should keep him and give him some hours.
I would prefer Chiesa to be offloaded, Endo I will still keep until we have reinforcements in midfield.

8

19 Aug 2026 19:20:45
Ramsey is linked with St. Mirren. That, in itself, shows his level. Keeping him would be a waste of a non homegrown spot.

17

19 Aug 2026 19:24:52
Bezos is skint mate. Big season for Szobo playing Right Back and Right Wing.

When Isak gets injured in our 3rd game, who's upfront? Wirtz. 😂

It's been a terrible window this for Liverpool. Should've just kept Salah.

26

19 Aug 2026 19:41:46
Somehow Hughes has successfully managed to further downgrade an already threadbare squad this summer. The sooner he and Edwards feck off, the better.

Robbo replaced by one of the worst footballers I've seen in a red shirt in the last 10-15 years. Couldn't even get a game at Roma.

Konate replaced with a loan signing.

Jones replaced with a kid.

Salah replaced with no one (so far).

Not to mention, Endo, Chiesa and Elliott are still going to be employed by Liverpool Football Club well into 2027. Absolute madness tbh, Edwards and Hughes have been complete and utter disasters.

17

19 Aug 2026 19:48:12
Ramsay classes as non homegrown, so good to loan him out. Hopefully Chiesa, Endo and Elliot are moved on.

6

19 Aug 2026 19:50:34
I'll judge Hughes on the 1st September.

19

19 Aug 2026 20:01:15
Ramsey is 23, by the way, and his contract is up next summer. Surely if he's been loaned out the club cannot be thinking of giving him a new contract. The very fact that at 23 and having featured in a fair bit of our pre season, St Mirren are the club showing most interest in him shows where he's at in his career.

Just let him go play there for a year and leave on a free next summer. And good luck the lad.

10

19 Aug 2026 20:01:45
What are you on about, Wirtzy?

Kerkez has looked good this preseason, and he never played for Roma...

Jaquet and Araujo are both miles better than Konate...

Nyoni has a much higher ceiling than Jones...

And there's still time to buy a RW...

Unclench, my man. Unclench.

17

19 Aug 2026 20:06:05
Edwards is gone so the blame lies solely with Hughes. Yes, it's been an underwhelming transfer window, and we will deserve everything we get, or, to be more precise, the trophies we won't get.

4

19 Aug 2026 20:24:23
The blame for what exactly, WD40?

5

19 Aug 2026 20:26:16
Gojonesgo, I guess he was talking about Tsimikas and the replacement being this summer not last summer where Robbo's actual replacement occurred.
Extremely dramatic, however.

Also Konate's replacement was/is Jacquet, not Araujo. Both are miles better than Ibou.

Salah was shocking last year, so Rio at RW is probably an upgrade, although I get the feeling Barcola will play out there a lot with Gakpo at LW.

We'll probably see a very up for it Gakpo this season.

If we can get Wharton in as well as Barcola, our XI does look pretty dangerous.

12

19 Aug 2026 20:30:14
Gojonesgo,...

Kerkez has quite clearly not replaced Robbo's role of last season as the lb rotation option.

Jacquet was bought when the club were expecting to keep Konate, so he's evidently not the Konate replacement. It's a short term loan, which I don't hate, but it's a short term solution nonetheless.

Nyoni having a higher ceiling than Jones has nothing to do with the fact he's not ready to play nearly 3000 minutes of football this season.

And we haven't bought a rw and very well may not buy a rw until next summer.

4

19 Aug 2026 20:35:12
Drama! And back in the real world...

4

19 Aug 2026 20:50:00
If Jacquet is Konate's replacement, then why were the club still trying to get Konate to sign a new contract in April when the Jacquet transfer had already been agreed?

8

19 Aug 2026 20:51:04
But, hey, exciting times as McConnell is staying!!

2

19 Aug 2026 22:02:17
@ The Fifth Element, because they're wrong. As you say, the club bought Jacquet with the expectation of also extending Ibou. So not exactly rocket science that Araujo has been brought in to replace Ibou.

2

19 Aug 2026 22:03:11
How many usernames is Harry allowed to have?

6

6

19 Aug 2026 22:37:13
He must have exceeded that by now Ed. He's probably had 248 accounts for each club he's supported.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - yeah RP hes had more clubs than Jack Nicklaus mate..

5

20 Aug 2026 07:21:33
Leon, I'll judge us at the end of the window. Either way, Hughes is a buffoon and is the top tier management. Doesn't make me or anyone else less of a fan.
