Hi all,

Liverpool remain in pole position to sign Michael Olise this summer. The player feels his time at Bayern is naturally coming to a conclusion and is weighing his options in the event of a departure.

Extensive groundwork laid by ourselves has placed us high in his thinking as the natural successor to Salah.

Let's get that private jet we used for mbappe fuelled up again.

Thanks VG.

08 Oct 2026 16:58:43
Nice one VG.

2

08 Oct 2026 17:04:44
Until city, Chelsea, Madrid get a whiff of interest of him moving then we'll be looking elsewhere.

08 Oct 2026 17:24:08
What do you think will happen to Wirtz? unless he starts putting in some numbers and not just effort it could make sense to try make him part of the deal and go 433.

1

08 Oct 2026 17:50:50
We're about to possibly get Olise, and you want to talk about Wirtz. my word.

4

08 Oct 2026 18:34:40
Good news VG! That'd be a significant signing. Barcola Ekiteke Olise! The France forward line!

1

08 Oct 2026 19:13:35
Cheers VG, I noted that ITK space posted something similar last night and said we've fine some substantial groundwork but also that PSG and Real Madrid are interested. as were City but he's distanced himself from them and they walked away.

Be interesting to see how this plays out.

08 Oct 2026 20:26:57
Viva la France, if carries on like this we will have half the French team

Cheers vg.

08 Oct 2026 20:45:34
Thanks VG, I just have a bad feeling about this potential signing. I can't see it working out personally.

1

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - Yes I can see how signing the best player on the planet gives you a bad feeling MOT. Good Lord I remember us signing the likes of Charlie Adam & Stewart Downing I never thought I’d see the day when Liverpool fans would complain about procuring one of the worlds premier soccer players.

2

08 Oct 2026 20:53:10
Is this not exactly what ITK/Bayern Space said?

0

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - more than one ITK can have the same exclusive info no?

08 Oct 2026 22:15:30
He's great, but is his game suited to the hustle of the prem, which is becoming less popular with players because it is so physical?
Id rather have Minteh's graft.

0

08 Oct 2026 22:31:50
JLC, Whats the issue? Bayern were dead set on Wirtz, apparently, they are still very keen. Obviously, a swap deal would be a valid option, especially if he continues to struggle. I completely agree with Letstalkabout6baby's post, if Wirtz can't assimilate within 2 years then he's not cut out for the league, ship him off while he still has some value to a keen buyer and reduce the cost of a fantastic signing, it's not just valid, it's the best option should his lack of form continue.

1

08 Oct 2026 22:41:23
Magic, are you saying City are a likely destination? More chance he goes to Everton

0

08 Oct 2026 23:04:20
Minteh's graft sounds like a skin condition.

06 Oct 2026 20:06:50
Also some scuttlebutt this week about LFC being interested in Fulham's CM Josh King (19).

5

07 Oct 2026 08:15:39
Really like this kid. Really direct an pacy.

6

07 Oct 2026 09:30:37
Looks a good prospect from the games I've seen him play.

4

07 Oct 2026 10:01:47
Does have a clause we can take advantage of?

Otherwise this is smelling like another $100mil.

7

07 Oct 2026 12:28:49
He's dynamite this kid. Been really impressed with him.

Not sure where he would fit for us though.

2

06 Oct 2026 19:41:42
Any of the ITK's know anything about a reported 50M offer from LFC to Tijuana for 18 year old Gilberto Mora?

5

06 Oct 2026 19:48:17
Yeah pretty certain the £50m was right, Mora less.

61

06 Oct 2026 20:08:44
Not a chance they'd take a 50m punt on an unproven player, is there?
are we now entering the Real phase of signings?

1

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed666's Note - we did it with Andy Carroll.

14

06 Oct 2026 21:36:58
How many games had Jacquet played before we spent more than that on him?

Or the (up to, minimal up front) we paid for an 18yo GK?

6

06 Oct 2026 21:51:44
*Ā£30m.

3

06 Oct 2026 22:55:40
There was conjecture that we were interested when he looked good in the World Cup but most of us were fascinated by the Diomande circus at the time.

4

07 Oct 2026 07:51:42
He's a quality youngster. I hope its true and the reported 35-40m isn't so expensive with current inflation of prices.

1

07 Oct 2026 07:56:13
He is quite good in FM26 to be honest.

1

07 Oct 2026 08:27:53
When moon the moon hits your eye
Like a bid pizza pie that's a mora.

7

07 Oct 2026 12:27:46
Good little player. Not sure Premier League is ideal for his size and stature. Surely La Liga would be his preference.

1

07 Oct 2026 20:06:34
I don't mean to blow my own trumpet but I reckon £50m would be enough to persuade Herb Alpert to sell him to us.
He's not the only Gilberto we are looking at either. We've also shown an interest in Gilberto Sullivan. But funds are tight and we might need a loan again, naturally.

4

07 Oct 2026 20:34:15
šŸ˜€šŸ˜€šŸ˜€ Nice one @Rigsby - I'm definitely in the 'of a certain age" bracket.

2

05 Oct 2026 18:47:48
Just for something a bit different.
With vvd contract ending this season. What's everyone's thoughts? For me he is still one of best cb's in prem. But if he will only sign if he gets a pay rise then sadly It's time to go. If he wants 2 year deal then it has to be reduced wages and bigger bonuses for appearances.

9

05 Oct 2026 18:54:38
I'd be fairly confident that even Virg knows he's not getting a pay rise unless he goes to Saudi/USA. He's nearly 35, and probably our highest earner.

On current form, it's worth extending season by season, but I'm not sure he'll stay. Another one who has paid back his transfer fee and then some, when he eventually goes it'll be with everyone's admiration and best wishes.

28

05 Oct 2026 19:06:00
I personally don't care if his salary stays the same. Happy to let the club make the call on that.

11

05 Oct 2026 19:14:04
I agree with most of that. But if reports of real looking at him on a free transfer are true, and his form this season is good. I would be shocked if they didn't offer him more than he's getting now.

2

05 Oct 2026 19:40:33
One last big contract, or adding more to the legacy. He's already our GOAT CB and in the best Prem/UK league team of all time.
The new ownership will want to keep him, and perhaps be willing to push the boat out more than FSG.

4

05 Oct 2026 20:33:47
Form has been fantastic but I really want to see the armband move on. Great servant to the club and nothing but gratitude, if he wants to stay on reasonable terms then great. If he wants to leave then thank you for what you did for the club.

5

05 Oct 2026 21:23:25
With Van Dijk, and Alisson to a certain extent, I think we need to see how they perform until January. Both have had drops in performance / availability that need to be considered.

With Van Dijk, a lot of that could have stemed from Slot's demands of the defenders, which seemed to be to drop and not engage the opposition players. A mad tactical decision, but not something Slot ever seemed upset by in interviews or press conferences, it appeared very much by design.

Van Dijk has a strong and consistent partner in Jacquet now, and there is still hope in Leoni. Van Dijk would be an excellent role model to both. And, if he can maintain his performances so far this season, it is a no brainer, for me. However, last season, his drop off of performance (And, especially leadership) was a major, major concern, and certainly not all down to Slot.

Alisson, for me, I am undecided. Incredible on his day, but I have never seen a Goalkeeper pick up so many injuries for such innocuous things. He is fit half the season, and many, myself included, are counting down the days till he gets injured again. Because, it is not a question of if, anymore, but a question of when. The lay offs are significant also, something is not right with him at this stage in his career.

3

05 Oct 2026 21:47:54
Give him another year šŸ’Æ.

11

05 Oct 2026 22:15:46
As it stands I'd have no hesitation in offering him extension. Outstanding player, the best cb I've ever seen.

10

05 Oct 2026 22:16:07
I really hope he stays. He looks back to normal this season and that's been a big reason why the whole defensive unit has looked solid so far.

He is not as fast as he once was, sure, but he isn't slow as far as centre backs go. He is also one of only 3 players from the original mentality monsters. As long as he can play at this level twice per week we should be doing everything in our power to keep him and his experience in the building.

What's more we have a signed two young CBs in Jacquet and Leoni who will only benefit from having him present for the next couple of years imo. Jacquet already looks like Van Dijks heir, Leoni will likely need more time before we can be sure, but he looked good in Italy and the tiny taste we did get was promising. Provided they both stay fit and hungry, they've got the ultimate role model to learn from and it could ease the post-Virg transition.

9

05 Oct 2026 22:40:39
Give the best and most available CB in the world another contract. Simple.

12

06 Oct 2026 00:20:14
remember when he had never been dribbled past?

Ledge.

5

06 Oct 2026 07:41:24
Why insult the man by offering reduced wages? Offer him what he gets now the man has just played every minute of every Premier League games last season. Still hugely important. We wouldn't be offering a 27 year old reduced wages so why offer a regular starter(albeit 35 years old)reduced wages?

6

06 Oct 2026 07:58:44
The most important thing for me is for the club to start do some more strategic planning for these aging stars.

The club did a terrible job of planning replacements for Mo Salah.

I'm supportive of giving one year extensions to both players if it allows the club to identify and secure (or develop internally) their long-term replacements.

However, it felt like with Salah we gave the extension just to kick the can down the road.

4

06 Oct 2026 09:47:32
If he is the best left CB at the club come the end of the season, then why wouldn't you extend?

3

06 Oct 2026 14:00:11
I'd hold on to players like VVD, Allison and Araujo for as long as possible. Leadership skills are crucial in a team that wants to win. And the environment created by these types off the field is often as important as what goes on, on the field.

Not easy to find leaders, even though diminishing skills on the field often convince you to want them to move on.

3

06 Oct 2026 16:19:21
Exactly FPF!

0

06 Oct 2026 16:53:26
Navy Keith, Salah had the season of his career bagging 57 goal contributions when we extended his contract. Exactly what part of re-signing a player hitting those kind of insane numbers felt like "kicking the can down the road"? Rhetorical question by the way.

2

07 Oct 2026 07:33:38
@chewy - read what I wrote again. I am talking about strategic long term team planning.

So by extending his contract and not using that time to plan and secure a replacement, the club IMO was kicking the can down the road with regards to replacing him.

I'm not sure why you are mentioning his goal contributions. I'm not saying he wasn't phenomenal or debating whether he should have been given a new contract.

What I am saying is the club needs to do a better job with team planning. VVD and Allison aren't going to play forever, so inevitably there will come a time when they need to be replaced - that should not be a surprise to anybody.

You would expect well run clubs to be forward planning in the transfer market, wouldn't you? Rhetorical question by the way.

4

07 Oct 2026 08:49:17
I'd let him go been a fantastic servant to the club and are we really going to offer what other clubs will, he's 35 and if he stays and his form drops off, the club will be murdered for paying him that and extending his contract.

0

07 Oct 2026 09:19:51
West Yorkshirered - it's simply time to move on from VVD. Alisson too IMO.

Id be disappointed with the club if either remain into next season.

I'm not even convinced he's the best CB at the club anymore.

0

07 Oct 2026 10:57:35
Would the club really be slaughtered if they offer him another year at his current wage? Dont think so? Brisbane I can see your point when it comes to Allison he misses a third of the season. But Virg has just played every minute of a Prem League season.

What LCB can we realistically get who is better? Why spend the bones of a hundred mill when we have Virg who on current form is the best in his position in the league?

0

05 Oct 2026 07:21:02
Liverpool and Chelsea have joined the race to sign Nottingham Forest's Brazilian defender Murillo, but the 24-year-old will not be allowed to leave the City Ground in January. (Football Insider)

2

05 Oct 2026 10:05:59
Can't see another CB arriving any time soon.

12

05 Oct 2026 11:04:31
do we really need him? think the Club are set now and have very high hopes for Jaquet/Leoni to be the future with Araujo in around the mix and the two young lads that played in pre season.

8

05 Oct 2026 11:52:39
With both VVD and Gomez contracts expiring next summer, it's possible they both leave. But then we would still have Jaquet, Leoni, Araujo, Ndiaye and Ndukwe. That looks enough, I would think. Unless the club wants to return Araujo and replace with a younger player (Zabarnyi or Murillo as per rumours). I would keep Araujo. Keep at least one senior experienced "anchor" type CB.

4

05 Oct 2026 12:22:14
"the 24-year-old will not be allowed to leave the City Ground in January"

Gonna make away fixtures a bit tricky.

29

05 Oct 2026 12:25:10
There are lots of possibilities. Like has been said, Virg and Gomez could easily leave and whilst I suspect that Araujo has already done enough to show that he would be a good signing, he is only on loan and there is no guarantee that he will be here next season. We will also need to see how well Leoni comes back from his injury. Whatever happens, with Jacquet, Leoni, Ndiaye and Ndukwe on the books it is a fantastic foundation to build on but the last 2 are still very young and might even need to be loaned out to get the minutes they require to continue developing to their full potential (I'm very excited about the potential of Ndukwe from what I saw in pre-season).

That said, I'd personally give Virg an extension and bring Araujo in permanently as you need that experience for the younger players to learn from. I wouldn't be looking to sign any other CB's at this time.

4

05 Oct 2026 12:42:59
While he is a good player that is surprisingly good in the air for his height and a really good left foot, I am not sure Murillo is the guy for defending the large spaces expected of an Iraola defender.

Tall and rangey with a good aerial duel % is the prototype.

0

05 Oct 2026 13:01:36
He seems to do ok at Nottingham Forest. perhaps they play on a smaller pitch than us, although we don't qualify for UEFA finals or internationals as our pitch is, apparently too small.

1

05 Oct 2026 14:32:15
Think we have the smallest pitch.

0

05 Oct 2026 14:33:00
Mightred Kloppers, Virg, Gomez and Araujo could all be on their way come June, we are definitely looking at options to fill those potential voids.

2

05 Oct 2026 16:15:01
While i do like the idea of Arsenal type fullbacks and Murillos ball progression, i feel he may be too expensive for someone who could get skinned with lots of space behind him.

0

05 Oct 2026 17:35:34
Fpf and funky, not to sure where you get this from. Murillo is quick enough to deal with space behind him. I am sure I read somewhere he clocked 33kph this season.
He's young, left footed, prem experience good passer and good moving forward with the ball. If we are looking at signing a cb I can't think of anyone better.

4

05 Oct 2026 18:27:08
Think Virg will be here next year so for me Araujo would be the only arrival. And I even think that's far from a given. A lot will depend on how Ndukwe gets on this season.

1

05 Oct 2026 19:45:34
We didn't buy a handful of the best young CB's available to bury them under expensive squad buys. Hopefully one will step up.

3

05 Oct 2026 22:39:57
WestYorkshirered - if you think 33kmph is quick then your argument undoes itself.

0

06 Oct 2026 03:53:45
Fpf, I said quick enough.

1

02 Oct 2026 08:49:55
YLFP expected back in full training in the next 2 weeks.

39

02 Oct 2026 11:17:55
Having Virg around who went through a similar injury will help Leoni gain his confidence back.

19

02 Oct 2026 11:54:50
Why not just call him Leoni, if that is who you are indeed referring to?

31

02 Oct 2026 13:43:25
Just a little throwback to when Leoni joined us as93lfc. Everyone was calling him YLFP after Carra said we were interested in a "Young Lad From Parma".

32

02 Oct 2026 14:32:24
The silence on Isak and Gakpo is killing me. We need at least one of them fit vs the Shams.

I didn't know we were playing Shamrock Rovers 😳.

30 Sep 2026 20:32:26
Hi Diddly Ho,

What a week, huh! Unprecedented times for English football that's for sure.

Don't expect anything to come from this, but PSG have been in dialogue with Ekitike's team about the possibility of a return further down the line.

From what I'vve heard, this doesn't necessarily mean PSG have decided they want him back, or that Hugo is looking for a return. It's more a case of keeping the door ajar for the future.

There's still a long road of recovery ahead for Hugo. If there are no major setbacks and he makes a full recovery, I suspect the clubs best move would be to offer him a new deal on favourable terms.

On Julian Ward, I've been told to expect contracts to be tied down earlier than we've seen previously. Apparently, some officials at other clubs have been bemused by our actions over recent seasons when it comes to renewals.

Also, just a little reminder that I don't have any direct sources inside the club anymore. All of what I hear now comes through a mix of contacts at European clubs and their links in England.

Take care all,

Diddly out.

78

30 Sep 2026 21:06:00
No more direct insider source?! Absolutely unacceptable, that's a 115 point deduction and an immediate relegation to Twitter for you!

Cheers Ned.

35

30 Sep 2026 22:59:37
Good to see you back, neighbourinho!

6

01 Oct 2026 12:15:55
Cheers, Flanders.

Sorting out Rio and Virg contracts quicky would be a great start in the role for Ward. Fingers crossed that Alisson can be convinced to stay longer too.

7

01 Oct 2026 13:08:02
Cheers Flanderino.

01 Oct 2026 22:28:46

Liverpool have held talks with Club Brugge this week regarding the availability of Joaquin Seys for January

Price seen as very high. Club want a full back this winter.

4

We'll probably end up with Simon Seys.

23

01 Oct 2026 11:20:57
Id be keeping my powder dry and see what happens with Gvardiol and Nico Reilly.

5

01 Oct 2026 12:32:15
Great to hear from you, Carra.
Hope you are well.

Looks like a competent all rounder of a left back that can play on the right a bit from the sounds of it. Not greasy fast but has an engine on him. Stays on his feet a lot more than Kerkez.

Interesting profile. Assume this would be a Tsimikas replacement.

Wishfully hoping that Daniel Banjaqui will be our future at RB :)

6

01 Oct 2026 12:48:37
Welcome back Carra, not seen him play but Tsimikas needs replacing and Kerkez needs proper competition.
As good as Araujo is doing would like a proper right back as well Frimpong has proven he is nowhere near good enough I also don't think Bradley is as well but is good enough as a back up when needed.
Carra you got any info on any midfield reinforcements.

2

01 Oct 2026 16:10:54
Replace kerkez and tsmikas neither top draw, just cook the books and hey presto plenty cash flow spend just wipe the hard drives every now and again!!
Nice one carra.

1

01 Oct 2026 19:19:58
Cheers Carra, hope you are doing well. YNWA.

2

02 Oct 2026 08:51:48
All well, thanks for the messages.

Back to complete full health now.

Great news about your health Carra!

Cheers carra, if he's as as jones or as near he would be a bargain.
