Liverpool are said to be readying an offer for highly rated Portugal midfielder Joao Neves. He is described as the 'next Rodri', which would make him an exciting addition! (CM Jornal)

Are the rumours true that we had a 100m bid for Rodrygo turned down by RM?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Rodrygo Goes (F/S) Real Madrid have no interest in selling but PSG did ask for him as part of a deal for Mbappe before he let his contract run down. Many Liverpool fans think there is some sort of pre-contract to join them, but of course there isn't. He agreed a new contract at Real Madrid and won't be moving anytime soon unless something like a €150M offer is made, or he could perhaps be offered to Liverpool in a part exchange for Alexander Arnold, which Real Madrid maybe open to - as it will bring in some cash as well. Manchester United sent scouts and Manchester City may try to do something this summer. There will always be interest in him and with Mbappe arriving he may need to make his way back to the RW position - although the wide positions are areas where Real Madrid want more depth. Chelsea are also interested if he becomes available. Will likely stay.}

Ed002 if I may ask?
I've seen reports linking LFC with Jeremie Frimpong this morning, now it may be lazy journalism as he Dutch and Arne has just taken over any chance if you know do we hold any legitimate interest in him? If we do could this be because Real Madrid see TAA ending up there this summer or possibly because Arne sees him more of a midfielder?
As always appreciate any response.

{Ed002's Note - Jeremie Frimpong (RB/RWB/RM/LB) Being versatile has made him attractive to Chelsea and Arsenal who will likely now have him as first choice after losing out on another. Chelsea opted for Malo Gusto and are signing a young player who will spend a year at Strasbourg but know they may need a replacement for Reece James although a move seems unlikely now. 10 years at Manchester City might be against a move to Manchester United, but they have looked. Agent is offering him around major European sides including back to Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona with the latter two having a serious interested in updating their RB position in the summer. He is HG in England but Liverpool has no interest in him - although if Alexander Arnold opts to leave he may be someone they look to.}

And what would happen to Bradley? The boy is ahead of TAA as a pure defender.

{Ed002's Note - He would still be part of the squad as he is now.}

I'm reading reports that Kompany wants Joe Gomez as a high priority target for Bayern.

Seems unlikely but if it is true i would struggle to choose whether to sell or not. For me he will never be a starter but his versatility makes him a great squad player.

If we signed somebody like Geertruida who can cover LB and LCB it would make sense to sell him I suppose.

Take the money and run. He is behind a 17 year old for a very good reason. Invest the money on a top class LCB.

12 Jun 2024 12:49:21
Who is the 17 year old?

12 Jun 2024 12:59:51
Why doesn’t joe get any respect on this page? He was one of our players of the season last year when Trent and robbo were out, didn’t let anybody down until the very latter stage of the season when he looked as gassed as anybody else, also he played 51 games for us, give the man some credit, he might not be the world class looking cb that he was five years ago, but he is an A class squad player who can capably contribute whenever anybody in the back line is injured, wish folks could appreciate the players we have instead of always pining for new ones.

12 Jun 2024 13:16:34
For someone who apparently can't play football, playing 51 games for a top tier team and then being selected for your country is quite impressive. Though apparently it's only because there are no other English defenders in the world so Southgate was forced to pick him. Gomez has long been an easy target for some on this site for some reason.

12 Jun 2024 13:40:18
I think Gomez is more than worth keeping around. He can play right back and left back quite competently, he’s a decent (but not brilliant) centre back, so he’s a Swiss Army knife defender. You need a player like that in the squad.

12 Jun 2024 13:41:25
As much as I like Joe, he’s a squad player, not a starter so any serious offer needs to be considered by the club and the player himself.
I wouldn’t consider selling him myself unless the fee is too good to turn down and we can replace with better or younger.

 2

12 Jun 2024 14:20:26
Agree with Stuie. Gomez only played because there wasn’t anyone available. And let’s hope that’s not the case next year. He won’t ever be a starter and we should be having those who can push the current ones at the very least.

12 Jun 2024 14:29:04
Gomez is definitely a player I'd be looking to keep. Covers across the back 4 and does a good job pretty much every time he plays. So we can sell him for maybe £15m, how much will it cost to replace that much versatility?

 4

12 Jun 2024 17:15:49
Joe gets a lot of abuse - he’s another one who suffers from not getting long runs in the team.

He’s always been good enough in my opinion.

12 Jun 2024 17:29:57
I see we're linked with Geertruida again today. Can anyone honestly say he's a better player than Gomez? Probably not but he'd probably cost twice as much as we'd get for Gomez yet offer similar ability/ vetsatility on the pitch.

Juventus appear close to a deal for Douglas luiz.

Does this mean they have moved on from Koopmeiners, or possibly they looking to bring in both.

Ed002, is there any new to get excited about or should we just sit back and wait?

TIA.

 3

{Ed002's Note - Juvenus are making hanges to their midfield this summer with a number of player departing. DL and TK are unrelated but they are interested in both lthouigh nothing will happen with TK until mid or late JUly at the earliest.

I am not aware of anything that would get you excited today.}

Shame Koopmeiners is now out of Euro’s - was looking forward to seeing him up against the best Europe has to offer. Think Netherlands are going to be up there and VVD is still looking sharp after a long domestic season. 💪👌.

Holland have an amazing squad but remember…Koeman is their coach, he is footballing kryptonite.

Just throwing in the new name - Jake O'Brien from Lyon, 3yrs still left on the contract. He was scouted but there are a few CBs regarded as preferred choices.

 2

11 Jun 2024 12:54:08
Never heard of him, immediately checked if he is HG and I don't THINK that he is as he was at Cork City (ie outside of the English League system) until he was c20 when he was loaned to Palace.

I like the idea of unearthing a gem though, it's what we do best!

I would be surprised if we went for him though as he's a right footed CB and we already have VVD, Konate, Quansah and Gomez.

{Ed002's Note - Hardly unearthing agem. There is plenty of interest in him but none from Liverpool.}

Ryan Sessegnon for free anyone?

11 Jun 2024 23:05:55
I am an O. L. fan as I live in the city of Lyon. He was OK for O. L. this season, but the team was shocking in all fairness. Lovren still plays for us . That says it all. Jake is OK in French league 1, as many of his mistakes don't go unpunished as they would in premiership. His positional sense, aerial duals and tackling are very suspect to say the least. Physical player who always gets done for pace and always error prone. Ball watcher and poor concentration levels. His true level is league 1 mid table team or English championship mid table at best. Extremely limited in every department. Loaned by palace as the owner also owns O. L. too I believe. Definitely not lfc standard by any means. Apologies for being too negative and critical about him. Just my opinion of course, but I've seen plenty of his games last season.

Isn’t he the one who nearly prompted a suicide pact on here when he went to Fulham instead of signing for us? No thanks.

No thanks Langland, his career has gone all Spursy.

Hey All, read online that Celtic are pursuing Caoimhin Kelleher and he's tempted by Champions League football. They'd want him for 15m but even that might be a stretch as Liverpool would want 20m plus. Apologies if this has been posted prior. Source [Graham Bailey].

10 Jun 2024 23:07:29
£20-25m would be fair I think. He’s arguably worth more than that but realistically teams will know he wants to leave, and with less than 50 games under his belt in senior football at 25 years old there is a strong case that £20m is actually still a gamble. It’s a different kettle of fish being the first choice and having the back ups breathing down your neck. As a back up you are far less under scrutiny because it’s accepted that you are prepared to sit on the bench for 90% of the season and might therefore be rusty or at least, not as consistent as the number 1. If he transitions to a number 1 there is no telling how he may react mentally to the added pressure. On pure ability, he looks good enough to start for pretty much any Prem team from Chelsea (6th) down. Doesn’t always work like that though.

11 Jun 2024 00:06:35
Celtic would be a good move for him, but I can't see them spending £10+m on a goalkeeper (or any player, to be honest), so I don't see how it would be possible.

Maybe straight swap for O'Riley?

 3

11 Jun 2024 00:22:56
Joe Hart is currently Celtics number 1 - I think the Irish connection is a bit of 2 + 2 = 5.

Caoimhin Kelleher could do a lot better than Celtic unless the Irish thing is a thing.

 4

11 Jun 2024 05:02:57
Surely kelleher can’t leave for less than Trafford? He’s ten times a better goalie and actually has lots of PL starting experience, has won two league cup finals, has played in Europe, etcetera, we’re not talking about a talented reserve keeper who has the tools to make the step up, we’re talking about an actual premier league caliber goalie who can’t take the starting spot from Alisson, if he leaves for the same or less than Trafford (who wanted to leave as much as kelleher does) it would be an absolute travesty.

 7

{Ed001's Note - Trafford couldn't even hold down a place at Burnley because he is dog muck, with the kicking prowess of someone playing football for the first time. So far up his own backside as well. I can't believe any team would be interested in signing him, let alone to spend money on such dross.}

 12

11 Jun 2024 05:18:36
As an aside Ed, Kompany had free rein to make a lot of dodgy signings with the owner giving him the liberty to build his team in the long run, the fact that he left Burnley saddled with all of them after jumping ship to Bayern, when they might not fit the new manager’s vision in the least, does not reflect very well on him.

 1

{Ed001's Note - and the fact that almost all of them flopped makes it bizarre that Bayern would even want him.}

 16

11 Jun 2024 06:32:02
I think he would be a mug to go to the SpL, he’s better than that.

11 Jun 2024 06:39:47
King Carlos
Joe Hart has retired I think 🤔.

 5

11 Jun 2024 07:30:09
Am amazed that Newcastle haven’t considered him. I mean Kelleher is 100 times better than Trafford!

 3

11 Jun 2024 07:50:41
Surely a deal with a buy back option would make sense.

 7

11 Jun 2024 09:16:44
Buy back or sell on percentage. other top teams do it all the time, I see no reason why we can't. Personally, I'd loan him for 2 years to a top tier team like what happened with Courtois, though I guess it's based on demand and players wishes etc. definitely a good player there.

 2

11 Jun 2024 10:18:21
Celtic'd be a great move for any Irishman, just can't see how they can afford him.

 3

11 Jun 2024 16:11:38
In Celtics 137 year history they're record spend is 16 million Euros.

Kelleher would likely cost double that.

Celtic win the league every season more or less easily enough already. Spending 30 odd mill on a keeper is hardly going to improve that.

 2

11 Jun 2024 23:55:53
I agreed with stuie_boy - think he has come out saying he would love to be number 1 at LFC, if we organise a loan move to a relatively top team in two years time if he has been successful, it would be a good Alison replacement with him at his peak GK age. But finding a top club who would take a GK to start know their intention is going back after a couple of years would be difficult.
