{Ed002's Note - He remains part of discussions with another side. Kurt Kurt makes no sense.}

Hi Ed02, sorry if this has already been covered but with you saying you expect us to go back in for Gordon I wanted to ask if this is regardless of Luis Diaz possibly leaving and a right-side forward potentially arriving?

I find it hard to believe we'll sign two forwards (say Gordon and a RW backup/ long-term replacement for Salah) without selling at least one and it doesn't seem definite that any will leave with interest in Diaz from Barcelona cooling and Salah looking likely to stay for at least another year. Seeing as we still seem to be keen on bringing Gordon in, do you think that means we might see him as the 'versatile' forward option who can play anywhere across the frontline?

For what it's worth I'd be keen to get him but I do think a right-sided forward should surely be more of a priority!

 1

{Ed002's Note - If Salah stays to run down his contract, the clubs can forget Bakayoko and the like. Diaz is stuck with Barcelona having other priorities but the club want Gordon. They will likely try and offload Diaz to Mr Emenalo now that all budgets have been defined.}

 10

26 Jul 2024 16:56:54
Diaz doesn't fit at all Slots tactics in my opinion so highly likely to go would be my guess.

 3

26 Jul 2024 18:36:17
A few years in SA would provide for his family for a few generations-god luck to him, if that's his priority.
Id be glad not to have his father in my press feed anymore the blert.

 3

26 Jul 2024 19:53:10
Very classy.

 2

26 Jul 2024 21:32:28
Don’t think that Gordon is signing.

Can see it being a very quiet window with little to no activity, with the exception being if there are free transfers or relatively cheap deals after last summer’s outlay. Either way I don’t think we’ll be adding anyone who will help us to bridge the gap between us and City.

 0

{Ed025's Note - and Arsenal..

 5

26 Jul 2024 19:32:05
Ed002 what do you personally think of Gordon, my honest opinion is that I’m not that fond of him, can’t see the hype around him and don’t think Liverpool need him but who am I too say.

 3

{Ed002's Note - I am surprised by the level of interest Liverpool have - perhaps I have been missing something.}

 2

26 Jul 2024 23:25:18
Scouse premium.

 0

27 Jul 2024 02:41:09
It doesn't strike me as odd. He's better than Diaz (who is also stellar), young, tenacious, and his personal connection to the club drives his deep desire to play for them. It's hard to find guys like this, especially if you're LFC.

 3

26 Jul 2024 10:41:55
Im sorry to bother you ed02 but has the interest in Llorente from atleti gone? Thanks.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Long gone.}

 4

26 Jul 2024 14:52:34
What about Simao and Fekir 🤣.

 12

26 Jul 2024 16:55:17
That little Fekir.

 5

26 Jul 2024 17:35:50
Just type Marcos Llorente SS coffee in google.

And keep that fascist person out of my club.

 3

27 Jul 2024 02:15:33
On behalf of Viktor, Llorente is 29 years old and is clearly past it. He should be in a retirement home at this point ;)

Hi Ed,
Are the club looking to sell Fabio Carvalho, and if so is there much interest? I would personally love to see how he does for this season.

 4

{Ed002's Note - I expect he will get a run out in pre-season and then the decision will come. He will want regular game time and that may be a problem.}

 13

25 Jul 2024 21:37:46
So far he looks championship level.

 8

25 Jul 2024 23:27:08
He doesn’t fit into what seems to be so far Slots preferred formation as he’s predominantly a 10 🤷🏼.

 1

26 Jul 2024 02:13:59
Arne slot’s latest interview about incoming transfer said that liverpool has set high standards on incoming players. But we found difficulties to sell tsimikas, nat phillips, rhys williams. do we really set high standards players? I don't think so.

 4

{Ed001's Note - so you think we just buy any old dross then?}

 19

26 Jul 2024 04:23:51
phillips and Williams are academy players. Tsimikas was cheap cover for a position that we lacked depth in at the time. Not sure you can grade our incoming transfers using that as a standard. might be better to use other examples.

 13

26 Jul 2024 06:41:07
Another day. Another poster bitching about how rubbish we are at everything. when talking about standards, it's shows your standards with those types of posts ynwacinere.

26 Jul 2024 09:11:19
II think Carvalho has bags of potential (enough to keep him at Liverpool if he can fulfil it) . His problem seems to be his attitude. He was unhappy and struggled at Leipzig when he was just A. N. Other player. From what I read he didn't apply himself well in training and never tried hard enough to win his place in the team but when he was a big fish in a small pond last season at Hull he was happy and played some great stuff. He will need to fight for a chance in the first team at Liverpool so it will be up to him - is he willing to fight to be part of a great club or would he rather be handed an easy life and be a big player at a smaller team.

 3

26 Jul 2024 09:28:43
Carvalho played as a false 9 in the pre-seasonfriendly against Preston. If he stays at Liverpool I would see him as an alternative to Nunez when Slot wants to tweak the playing style.

The reason LFC have trouble moving players on is that this is a high end luxury store and not many can afford to shop there. By that I mean players are priced accordingly and most players either want to stay and fight for a place or don't want to accept a wage cut.

 7

26 Jul 2024 09:31:49
Problem with Carvalho is, he's a number 10, I don't see him on the wing and no where near the level to be an 8 in this side. He needs to leave to get game time. Slot is pretty adamant he won't be playing a 10. Even if he does he's got Szoboslazi, Elliot even Jones ahead of him.

 3

26 Jul 2024 10:12:18
Bit unfair on carvalho. We haven’t even seen him have a run under Slot yet. And Slot wouldn’t have really seen him yet either.

 2

26 Jul 2024 10:48:55
Ironically Fabio best football for Fulham was starting at the 10 but he often pulled out to the left side and cut in. could be a option for us on the LW.

 0

26 Jul 2024 11:19:24
He snootily turned down playing for the Portugese U21's, sulked about playing time under Jurgen, followed by the rumours of a less than ideal attitude at RBL.
All this points to someone with plenty of growing up to do, not uncommon for young people, but also potentially indicative of his nature.
Surely worth 15/ 20m to a championship or french side.

 4

26 Jul 2024 11:29:24
@bjcd I think you’ll find slot plays with two number 10s and no number 8 so carvalho and Elliot would be perfect for them roles rotating with macallister and szoboslai.

 1

26 Jul 2024 11:33:37
Offer him as part-ex for Inácio plus cash.
Would do well back in Portugal.

 4

26 Jul 2024 11:57:19
Shughes55 and if Inacio, Carvalho and Sporting refuse?

 0

26 Jul 2024 12:10:04
Ben davies, kabak, tsimikas, ramsay, ox, steven caulker, klavan is our high of standard players.

 0

26 Jul 2024 13:07:41
Davies, Kabak and Caulker were stop-gap measures when out four first choice CBs were all injured. Ox was proving real value for money until the Roma game. Tsimi and Klavan were brought in as squad players and Ramsey was 18 and had shown backs and bags of potential.

You also failed to mention Ali (who recently captained Brazil) Robbo (who captains Scotland), VVD (who captains Holland), Endo (who captains Japan), Dom (who captains Hungary), Torres, Suarez, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Fabinho Mac Alister, Gakpo, Nunez off the top of my head and loads more.

If you are going to criticise the club at least try and show both sides of the coin.

 9

26 Jul 2024 13:42:52
Do you mean that i have to mention poulsen, jovanovic, markovic, karius, konchesky, kyriagos, sinamma pongolle, grujic too mate?

 2

26 Jul 2024 17:32:33
Do not feed the trolls WDW3.

 4

27 Jul 2024 02:22:14
ynwacinere, that just shows that we, like every other club, buys both good and poor players. We can't have a 100% success rate in the market but in recent times, we have done well. The only high profile player we bought under Klopp who objectively failed was Keita and it was widely reported at the time that we didn't do any of the usual background checks on him. So your criticism that we have no high standard players holds no water.

25 Jul 2024 13:38:55
Ed002 i know you. said before agent spoke to us about neto and nothing came of it but there are new reports that we spoke to mendes and wolves about him and are looking to make a move? Anything changed? Any truth or chance? Or is he going arsenal which is the other team reported? Thank you for answering.

{Ed002's Note - Nothing has changed and talks continue with another side.}

Jayden danns allegedly in Plymouth about to join on loan.

 7

25 Jul 2024 13:42:37
Yea. heard that yesterday from a couple of Plymouth supporters over at the supercup in n. ireland.

 4

25 Jul 2024 17:13:04
I know it’s about minutes but I’m not too excited about the prospect of Danns joining Rooney at Plymouth after the debacle of a season they had, Rooney has hardly set the world alight with his managerial prowess and seeing him take over a team that barley survived relegation is a recipe for disaster, we should keep Danns far from it.

 12

25 Jul 2024 17:30:46
I don't think that's entirely fair. Derby was his first appointment and would obviously have been a steep learning curve. He didn't do well that's for sure but he did seem to learn from his mistakes there overall and admitted he was part of the issue.

At Birmingham he got 15 games from some owners who missold him the job and conditions.

From what I've seen he's honest and up front about his abilities and expectations and does this same with his players. Is he a good manager? I don't know but his record so far isn't really a fair reflection.

 6

25 Jul 2024 17:59:28
Nevada, how is his record so far not a fair reflection, so by that rationale would you agree that frank lampard and Gary Nevilles managerial careers are also not a fair reflection? Your only as good as your last job, I never said he was a bad manager I said he’s hardly set the managerial world alight thus far and an appointment to a club that survived relegation by a single point is a recipe for disaster, I’d rather Danns be kept in the squad or sent on loan to a team with a proven manager and be surrounded by a higher calibre of player.

 7

25 Jul 2024 17:59:30
Danns coached by one of englands best ever players who knows what it takes to be the best . Yeah sounds like a terrible idea 🤔.

 10

25 Jul 2024 19:11:10
I know what you’re saying Dhfc but in my opinion Rooney was a natural. I don’t think he lifted his game through training and fitness the way C Ronaldo did.

I could be wrong but he was a great player as a 17 yr old and I don’t think he really got much better than that.

Maybe he can help Danns, but Danns needs good coaches as well as playing against hardened pros.

 6

25 Jul 2024 19:23:26
Rooney was a top top player. will be good for Danns!

 6

25 Jul 2024 21:14:18
Wow @ron I can’t believe you think Rooney didn’t get better than when he was 17 . He was a natural but he certainly got better he was unbelievable at times during his career . I know he was a blue and he played for the old enemy but Rooney was quality .

 4

{Ed025's Note - horrible person Dhfc, but an excellent footballer mate..

 4

25 Jul 2024 22:24:30
Don’t know know how you can call him a horrible person ed25! How many people do you know that have a soft spot for granny’s like Rooney?

 4

{Ed025's Note - i can live with the granny slotting Pegleg, its the nasty streak him and his family have that irks me mate..

 4

25 Jul 2024 22:36:25
I agree, Pegleg. there's not many people on this earth that took care of the elderly like Wayne did.

 2

{Ed025's Note - care in the community always comes first for our Wayne DE.. :)

 1

25 Jul 2024 22:35:37
Steve Highway tried his best to get Rooney to Liverpool when he was a kid but his granddad would not let him sing for LFC and Steve was a good judge of young players just imagine Fowler, Owen and Rooney as our front line scary.

Rooney was an outstanding footballer even if he was blue and a manc he was out standing.

 3

25 Jul 2024 23:06:04
What have him and his family done out of curiosity ed? His mrs seems a bit of a narcissist.

 0

{Ed025's Note - they are scally,s Fixer, if Wayne had not made it as a footballer the prison population would have increased shall we say mate, Colleen is actually the nicest of the bunch..

 2

26 Jul 2024 12:01:03
At the end of the day and regardless of whatever we think about Rooney (could not be bothered, really) or Plymouth as a club, Danns needs to be playing regular, Big Boy football with actual seasoned professionals so if Plymouth under Rooney is what that will take then, so be it. Just my opinion.

 0

26 Jul 2024 14:59:13
If he could pick up some of Rodney's skills during that loan it could be a wonderful spell for Danns and inevitably for us.

 2

25 Jul 2024 07:34:24
Good morning Ed002,

As people on here are using their imagination and have started to add their own stories which has some what taking away from the factual information the Ed's provided. Could I ask some questions to bring back some normality? Apologies to all as I do not mean to offend, we have twitter for "ITK's".

Also if you are busy please ignore this post.

In your opinion do you still believe we will move for Anthony Gordon considering Eddie Howe has stated that he is now happy? It's very hard to see anyone paying the money for Diaz other than Saudi do if they rely on each other then that could be an issue?

I believe we will make a couple of signings and they may be left field but I think Inácio and Ederson be it the later somewhat hopeful.

If you had to guess who would you think Liverpool will move for?

I know you are not psychic and it's been almost impossible to read this Liverpool recruitment policy but I would value your opinion.

Thank you for your time Ed002.

 7

{Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised by further discussions for Gordon.

I am really not interested in guessing at all.}

 12

25 Jul 2024 10:25:50
Hi All,
Imo, no chance the Club will move for more than one wide striker this summer. If any of Neto, Kubo, Bakayoko, etc. is negotiated, Gordon won't get signed (costly, NUFC won't sell to us now as they are all sorted with the sustainability rules) .

Even if Diaz leaves, we still have 3 senior strikers.
Only if we let 2 attackers go, then we'll be more concerned.

I'd be happy if we sign 3 - CB, DM and right winger.
Plus some cover for LB would be good to have for luxury.

 3

25 Jul 2024 10:43:42
We scored a lot of goals last season, but, debatably Jota aside, we don’t have a goal scoring centre forward. I say Jota aside as he appears to be prone to niggling injuries (lifestyle choices? ) that make him unreliable.

 2

25 Jul 2024 10:43:54
The information coming out of actual journalists and not Twitter ITK’s is that there’s unlikely to be any significant transfer business being done. Andy Hunter at the Guardian has said that Richard Hughes and the recruitment team are happy with the squad and see no issues. James Pearce (I get that he comes in for some stick, but he’s a better source than the fat lad from Bolton or the KFC worker from Leicester) at The Athletic has said that from what understands there’ll be little or no business being carried out. Chris Bascombe at the Telegraph has gone as far as to say the club sees no reason to bring in a number 6 as there is a feeling that Jones or Szoboszlai could adequately play there (which feels contrary to reason, logic and reality) and that he expects little or no business. Just waiting for the Paul Joyce dagger now.

 2

25 Jul 2024 11:29:57
Yet the club are actively looking at targets. These journo’s are no where near the club when it comes to transfers, we’ve seen this over the last few years.

 11

25 Jul 2024 12:00:33
Let’s just wait and see. Journalists are external to the internal workings of the club, just like us fans, even though journalists and fans approach the subject from a slightly different angle.

Like I said yesterday we were contenders for about 95% of the season just gone. We weren’t far off and that was with a group of players who were together for their first season and who will improve (or rather who have the potential to improve) .

Personally, based on absolutely no factual evidence, I think we will sign two or probably three first team squad players with perhaps one or two of them actually being (close to) starters.

 2

25 Jul 2024 12:06:22
If the above is correct then we need to have low expectation of the season.
VVD is not what he once was and while still class he needs a top class partner for us to succeed. Gomez and konate are not consistently fit enough and JQ is not ready yet.
We need a better LB back up this was evident last season with robbos injury issues.
If trent signs I think we are fine on the right
Stevie wonder can see we need a cdm Endo has done a job but he's not good enough for us to realistically challenge.
We also don't have any leadership in the middle of the park.
If salad won't sign I would get rid he wasn't at his best last season and I don't think his head will be in the right place if he knows he's leaving. Gakpo and Diaz don't get enough goals and we don't know if slott is going to play to dsrwins strengths and kets be fair he's not been looking like a 20 goal a season man so if we are not careful we could find ourselves struggling up front. If we don't recruit I can't see us being top 4.

 3

25 Jul 2024 12:39:47
WDW we were contentenders for closer to 80% if the season than 95%, the draw away at United then the dismal home defeat to Palace a week later ended our title challenge. We are still very away from winning the league, you can’t gift soft goals and be as weak through midfield as we are. I’m expecting very little in the way of transfers happening and if by some miracle we do, I’m not expecting them to be transformative in the way that van Dijk, Alisson and Fabinho were, as the closer we leave it to the start of the league or deadline day, the more difficult and expensive it is to sign the better players.

 2

25 Jul 2024 12:59:58
The only players we should be buying are ones that improve the starting 11, it’s that simple.

 8

25 Jul 2024 13:02:26
In all honesty, challenging for honours this season is going to be very difficult, with or without new players.
New coaches, new manager, new to the premier league, new tactics/ formations, new philosophy.

I don’t think a few new players will make it that much easier. It’s going to be tough.

I’m pretty calm about the squad, I think we essentially have a squad of new players and getting cohesion and consistency is going to be tougher for us.

 7

25 Jul 2024 13:26:29
Someone is going to replace Matip, surely, especially considering SVDB is adamant about leaving.

Salah's replacement needs time to bed in.

Dm is an interesting one being as Endo, Bajetic, Jones and Alexis can play there, and Baj will want to be playing as regularly as he can/ is sensible for a young lad fresh off the back of a serious injury.

Tsimi is not a good enough back up/ challenger for Robbo.

Kelleher needs replacing.

Diaz clearly wants to goto somewhere hot.

All of this means we are bound to buy some players (imo)

 8

25 Jul 2024 09:09:42
Greetings, Ed002,

Is Kubo the top option or is Kudus in the picture if Liverpool sell Salah this window?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Kubo and Bakayoko- nothing to do with Kudus at all.}

 7

25 Jul 2024 09:35:25
No problem at all Ed002,

Have a good day 👍🏼.

 3

25 Jul 2024 18:42:20
If we’re not actively looking at replenishments then it’ll be a long season. I’m not saying we’re going to perform terribly, but if our goal is to be on the periphery of the top four then that’s what we may get. I feel the challenge for top four will narrow again next season and I thought we punched above our weight at times last season. It’s a game of narrow margins and hopefully I’m wrong.

 3

25 Jul 2024 22:06:32
We conceded too many goals and didn’t score enough. We need to improve in all areas if we want to win the major trophies.

 0

{Ed025's Note - the change of manager will help mark, no inverted fullback malarkey will shore up the defence i imagine mate..

 3

25 Jul 2024 22:50:15
I am still haunted by that Everton defeat. A few new players who can stand up and be counted are very much needed imo. Hope you are keeping well ed.

 0

{Ed025's Note -im good thanks Mark, we played well in the derby and you were pretty poor to be honest mate, one of those games where we wanted it more than you i would say but that doesn,t happen very often, just one of those days..
