eds 01,02 come the summer everyone is asking you who we buy. But question besides Can, Mignolet, Clyne and maybe klavan who else do you see being released be it first team, under 23 and anyone else you have knowledge of.

Kop69

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any first team players being released, although youth players who don't have a future perhaps. Can will be out of contract and has not yet made clear his decision but having spoken with Juventus I suspect he will opt to move there. Sturridge and Lazar Markovic will certainly be available. Flanagan no dout, probably Connor Randall. Simon Mignolet probably has a future in Italy and a replacement will be sort - but that may be Ward. Bogdan will likely leave unless Ward opts out and moves on. If Ward stays then it would be unlikely that a GK would be needed. Origi could move on but his form has dipped recently after a good start. Obviously Salah has flirted with Real Madrid but I expect he will stay. Awoniyi, Wilson and Ojo I don't know what will happen. Allan will have to stay and will get another loan when fit. I hope that helps.}

1.) 08 Apr 2018 13:38:13
With there only being can on that list that has really been part of the first team squad and mignolet likely to be replaced by ward do you expect there will only be 1 or 2 players coming into the first team squad as Keita has obviously already been signed. Maybe an attacking signing and 1 other?

{Ed002's Note - No I would not say that Den. We know Liverpool have shown an interest in players in several positions, plus they are pushing to bring in a couple of foreign youngsters because of the transfer ban - but work permits will be an issue.}

2.) 08 Apr 2018 14:40:35
Thanks Ed2. Succinct and music to our ears.
Would you say one of Lovren and Matip will be moved on if we bring in another CB, and a RB to free up Gomez for CB?

{Ed002's Note - I wouldn’t think so unless something changes. There has been no effort to make them available.}

3.) 08 Apr 2018 16:00:38
Good info there Ed002. Hope Ward gets a chance next season even if it is as a backup. And I doubt the club will miss any of the players u mentioned in that list as long as some quality players are bought in. Keita, Jorginho, a RB and a wide player will be an amazing summer for the club.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure Ward will consider being a backup as adequate or getting a chance.}

4.) 09 Apr 2018 14:59:42
Am I mistaken but some of the eds mentiomed that Lazar will be released/ free after the season as he didn't play some % games, it was something like that I don't quiet remember what was it.

{Ed002's Note - If the player does not play sufficient games by the end of the season for RSCA he can walk away from his LFC contract within 14 days of the end of the season by unilaterally terminating it - if he meets the criteria which he does. If he so chooses, and Liverpool don't sell him and FIFA agrees then Liverpool would get a small amount of compensation from the player or his next club. Liverpool has previous priced him out of a transfer (probably trying to recover very significant additional fees they were paying to LM - their own stupidity) but I expect that they would be more sensible this summer and speak with the player and Malenovic well in advance and agree a way forward.}

5.) 09 Apr 2018 23:21:07
ed2 - what is it about liverpool and how we handle transfers out of the club? anecdotally, it seems it happens a lot that we price players out of moves. and these are players we want gone from the club!
Is it liverpool being stingy, are we just no good at the negotiating table?
keen for your insights.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs often use specific negotiators for transfers but for moving players on they will typically give the agent an idea of what might be acceptable and he or she can do a lot of the leg work. Liverpool need to be smarter and cannot go down the VvD route ever again - financially they were caned there.}

Eds01 or 02 Could it be possible that Emre Can is waiting to see how he does in the World Cup. As this could increase his options and wages. As come on Germany always get to ever quarter finals. And if this is the case this world cup, may give better options for him.

Kop69

{Ed001's Note - perfectly possible. He is keeping his options open at the moment, I have no way of knowing why, but the World Cup is certainly as good a reason as any. One good performance there can raise a player's value massively. Of course there is also the possibility that he is waiting until English clubs can get involved in contract offers too....}

1.) 09 Mar 2018 11:46:28
I doubt he will get much if any game time at the world cup, but time will tell.

2.) 09 Mar 2018 12:28:47
I was thinking this the other day Ed1, there was a fair bit of noise about City being interested earlier in the year and I could see Can as a long term replacement for Fernandinho although not the same player coached over time by Pep im sure he could mould him.

3.) 09 Mar 2018 13:07:23
Klopp is a great coach himself and Can has not improved one iota under him and is almost in his mid-twenties, I honestly just don't think he is that great.

4.) 09 Mar 2018 13:25:55
here here not trained on.

5.) 09 Mar 2018 14:56:31
Sorry if you think Can has not improved since Klopp arrived your watching a diff player.

6.) 09 Mar 2018 15:15:30
He plays quite a bit for Germany. And Can has definitely improved.

7.) 09 Mar 2018 15:38:30
Can has improved. Just not enough. Too many wayward passes, and too slow in releasing the pass. That's why we're looking for midfielders.

City are welcome to him.

But Can is also welcome to wait and get the best offer for himself. Fair's fair.

8.) 09 Mar 2018 15:57:33
Thats not why we are looking for midfielders, we are looking for a midfielder because Can is leaving if he was staying and Milner stays we wouldn't buy another mid esp with Keita coming in and Ojo/ Grujic coming back.

9.) 09 Mar 2018 22:17:44
Kroos, goretzka, khedira, ozil, gundogan, rudy and weigl to name a few. I doubt he's getting that much time.

10.) 09 Mar 2018 23:00:09
Dont get the negativity towards Can he still gives his best every game hasn't crapped on the club or used the media to leave has 20 caps to date so IS a full german international and has improved for LFC. Given time he will only get better whether that is here or elsewhere he will push on and be a top midfielder for years to come.

11.) 10 Mar 2018 09:07:01
Can has improved dramatically over the past few months and I really think klopp can continue with that progress and transform him into a very very good player. It's frustrating to see a player muck around with contracts and have the nerve to sit there waiting to see what offers come his way. i no it happens but it's my club and I hate to see it. Will he leave if we win the champions league? Does my head in.

12.) 10 Mar 2018 11:39:11
I think Emre Can will leave and become an even better player if the club he chooses to go to suits his style of play a little more, don’t get me wrong I don’t think he’s bad at Liverpool at all but I’ve just got a funny feeling he will flourish at a fast rate in a slightly different system which would be a kick in the teeth lol.

13.) 10 Mar 2018 12:52:36
JC he’s a decent player but if you want to win everything then he's a squad player. I'd love him to stay but I see him as a squad player moving forward.

14.) 14 Mar 2018 06:15:28
For me Emre Can is the best midfielder we have on the books currently. You need players like emre can who can get physical and have character if you are to win anything. He gives his all despite for liverpool. He is still 24 and will only get better.
Whoever signs him will have a gem of a player. I hope and pray he chooses us after the WC.
maybe we win the CL and he will before the WC :) Here's to hoping
next season Can Keita AoC for the midfield. that will be one strong physical and mobile midfield. where every mid is different and brings extra to the team.

25 Dec 2017 19:24:58
eds thank you for all your hard work and all the best. Also we have a Brazilian boy called Allan who keeps going out on loan because of work permits. Do you think he will be good enough to play for LFC or just another lost cause. Plus you keep telling people to try the search engine for players. Tell this old timer how.

Kop69

{Ed002's Note - I very much doubt he has a future with Liverpool I am afraid.}

1.) 25 Dec 2017 20:34:47
Is that cos of ability or work permit.

{Ed002's Note - He would need a case for an exemption to be agreed for a WP, and I very much doubt he is in the plans.}

2.) 25 Dec 2017 22:47:17
It's late and I understand if you don't want to answer Ed2. But I have a question and it's been bugging me for some time now, why is it, hardly none of our youngsters get their chance? I don;t understand it, we have had some top quality youngsters the past few years and we still do yet the vast majority of them don't seem to get their chances with us? I don't understand why, I'd love to know your opinion about why they aren't getting their chances?

{Ed002's Note - It is not a Liverpool thing. Thing of a pyramid of Ferrero Rocher and the one at the top is the first team and the layer at the bottom is the Under 16s or whatever. Year on year the number that are “potentials” first team squad players diminishes, there are always a bunch of players but the “cream” of those is numerically reducing and some will be let go and have good careers with other sides, some will even make it with PL sides - and some will like the other Ed’s end up as humble chimney sweeps and florists. This is true at the highest tiers of football across Europe, even considering the great youth set ups at Ajax and the like. Not a Liverpool problem but perhaps a constraint - as the club are yet to create a system that facilitates the most likely of the youngsters to have the club produce a development plan toward making it at the highest level. At Liverpool a few make it through to get their shot at the first team. Less so at some sides and more so at others. A fix is needed long term. Great question. Thanks.}

3.) 25 Dec 2017 23:35:44
Great answer 002 merry christmas.

4.) 25 Dec 2017 23:43:10
Very interesting reply Ed2, I like good knowledge and your full of excellent knowledge, thank you for sharing what you know. I thank you sir. I hope your Christmas has been a good one.

5.) 26 Dec 2017 07:10:09
If you type "Allan" insearch you're more likely to get a bunch of posts rrlated to lALLANa lol.

6.) 26 Dec 2017 13:20:10
We are friends with a family in Madrid whose son started with the Real Madrid academy aged 6 and he's still there aged 14. So he's doing well but as they say the photo of the kids who started together gets smaller each year.

7.) 27 Dec 2017 09:23:19
Ultimately though isn't that the natural process of an academy. You start with who shows potential at 7 or 8. Then some of those will prove to not be as good as first seemed. You follow that through the ages some will have attitude weaknesses, some will have been early developers physically who look better to start with, you'll find other kids who are later developers who come through then. Plus in order to run a team in each age group you need a full squad, but that doesn't mean they are all up to scratch just that they are the best you can find to support the few really good ones. Ultimately why would you want to have a load of players come through each year. That would mean constant change and disruption. I would guess most clubs would settles for 1 or 2 from each batch being up to squad standard and making a bit of money back on a few others. I would think or hope that a lot of the coaches who have worked with them would just be happy to see the lads they rate have a career somewhere. Being paid to play at any level is still on the top 5% or so. the one that frustrates me is when a manager comes in from abroad and starts stacking the proper academy, the 16-18 level, with kids from their own country or one they have worked in a lot and give the impression they haven't been in the door 5 seconds and were always planning on doing it. Anyway that's just my opinion.

08 Aug 2017 18:24:05
ED002 we all know Neymar has spoken how great it is in Spain. But may be Phil thought he was going there to play with his best mate. I fell he give us one more season and it may not just be Barcelona that he will go too. Neymar may persuade him to go to PSG. Do you think this is possible.

Kop69

{Ed002's Note - PSG are looking for another "big buy" and ideally would like Mbappe over Sanchez (because he is French). They maintain an interest in Coutinho but I doubt will be bidding.}

1.) 08 Aug 2017 20:01:40
Any chance the money from Coutinho could be used on Sanchez? Seems unlikely but we tried for him before and he chose the wrong team. everyone deserves the chance to learn from their mistakes surely ;)

2.) 08 Aug 2017 20:08:49
Must be looking to offload a few players to get mbappe in.

3.) 09 Aug 2017 12:49:13
I don't think sanchez would sign for us. He is already at a club on level with liverpool. He wants to step up to very top tier of world football. Bayern, real and Barcelona ect

He would be brilliant with DS, would be like old S. A. S.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in Sanchez.}

29 Jul 2017 18:44:31
ed001.002 or 025 i know you have done sharkpod and said a few weeks ago who we should sign but who do you now think the club will sign and get rid off and you are the ever LFC guardian you all the best.

Kop69

{Ed002's Note - I don't think anything has really changed in terms of the club wanting to sell the likes of Moreno, Sakho, Markovic, etc.. Right now they are eached priced out of a move. If Coutinho were to move to Barcelona then they could look to adding from the Barcelona surplus list and they could look again to the likes of Vazquez. Oxlade-Chamberlain may well remain a target.}

1.) 29 Jul 2017 22:05:54
Oh joy.

2.) 30 Jul 2017 00:09:29
Why would we look to barcas "surplus" list for our star player? What an awful mentality.

3.) 30 Jul 2017 02:56:53
Em, Barcelona have released many players on their surplus list in the last few years. Sanchez, Pedro and zlat are 3 off the top of my head that were 'surplus'. It's not like It's QPR offering up their reserves and obviously if klopp doesn't want any he won't take any. So what's the issue? Obviously the best thing would be not to sell.

4.) 30 Jul 2017 05:13:19
You can't really replace couts so any exchange is unlikely to be a direct replacement, whoever were to come in would mean a slight change in how klopp wants to play and adapt to different players' strengths.

5.) 30 Jul 2017 09:48:37
As ed25 has said we already have the perfect replacement if coutinho does leave. firminho would shine in his natural role. You all need to calm down a few decibels bigger and better have left over the years.

6.) 30 Jul 2017 09:49:48
That's the point Indian, there no player Barcelona can offer us to replace him but that doesn't mean 'Someone they would allow to leave wouldn't improve us. If klopp thinks they could and accepts an exchange who am I to say he's wrong!

7.) 30 Jul 2017 09:56:19
Ed would you care to shed some light on who Barcelona may view as tradeable if they can get Coutinho? Read somewhere Rakitic may be available too.

{Ed002's Note - Aleix Vidal (RB), Andre Gomes (M), Ivan Rakitic (M), Paco Alcacer (S), Arda Turan (LW), Lucas Digne (LB), Denis Suarez (M), Javier Mascherano (M/CB).}

8.) 30 Jul 2017 10:21:20
Thanks mate - brilliant.

9.) 30 Jul 2017 10:38:49
All decent players, but I'd still keep coutinho even if they offered the lot of them, coutinho is yet to Hit his peak years.

10.) 30 Jul 2017 10:58:54
Ed002, do you think the club would be more inclined in taking a deal including players? From the list given Denis Suarez and Andre Gomes both had good seasons before joining Barcelona at Villarreal and Valencia.

{Ed002's Note - I really don't know but unless a club is actually interested in a player it makes little sense to take them.}

11.) 30 Jul 2017 11:00:52
Rakitic would be the only one worht considering and even then I'd have to say, if it meant Coutinho leaving, a massive no thank you. Not inspiring that we may look to another teams cast-offs to be honest.

12.) 30 Jul 2017 14:56:54
Aleix Vidal (RB) - Not particularly that good, not an upgrade on Clyne.
Andre Gomes (M) - Hasn't set the world alight.
Ivan Rakitic (M) - Past it, best days are long gone.
Paco Alcacer (S) - Not particularly good, too lightweight for the English game.
Arda Turan (LW) - Past it, best days are long gone.
Lucas Digne (LB) - Already signed a left back.
Denis Suarez (M) - Lightweight, not an upgrade on Coutinho, never been that fussed about the hype, is he any better than Suso who also failed?
Javier Mascherano (M/ DF) - Past it.

In short there's no one on that list I'd want.

13.) 30 Jul 2017 15:28:09
If we had £100m burning a hole in our pocket, would we target any of those players?
I doubt it. That's the acid test in player exchanges.

EDS Last night god i think every LFC supporters nerves where gone. But watching the team and there determination reminded me of LFC when i was growing uo in the 70s and 80s. Klopp is bringing that era we had of belief again and now that under his guidance ni mater what happens the rest of the season. There will be more nights celebrating and he will bring much more better players. The type that wanted to come the club for what we can achieve and not just for what we did achieve.

Kop69

1.) 11 Apr 2018 19:36:21
OP, my nerves were shaky BUT definitely not gone, personally. After that goal (that btw, should NEVER have stood for a blatant foul on VVD), I was just hoping that we don't concede in the next 5 or 10 mins and we did not. When the pressure was on, our boys showed a lot of poise, courage and belief as well as smarts and that is testament to the manager and the mentality he has instilled into these wonderful, courageous boys who put their bodies on the line every week to defend our colors. Klopp is the best thing to happen to this club in a decade and the hope is that he can crown all his efforts with some silverware cos DAMN, does he deserve it.

2.) 11 Apr 2018 20:32:48
Faith. faith in Klopp and faith in the character of this team. I saw the same in my other favorite sports team the Philadelphia Eagles who won their first Superbowl ever.
I waited 42 damn yeas for and despite all the adversity, injuries and doubters they adopted the under dog mantra, had faith in their players and staff and won. Anything can happen when you have a team that has faith and works in unisone. Ynwa reds. let's do this!

3.) 11 Apr 2018 22:23:51
Feel for you, Pete. I love the Philly Birds, myself (MacNabb, Westbrook, Dawkins, Trotter and so on) BUT men, they have suffered a lot and I was chuffed for them esp. beating the NE Patriots and that smug Tom Brady and Belicheck who think they run the NFL.

{Ed001's Note - feel free to get on our NFL site and chat away about them! Could do with that getting going.}

01 Apr 2018 09:03:58
Eds what do you think of Karius, personally i would give another season and see if he grows as a player. I always remember reading about Stevie G and how when he was younger got torn apart by Roy Keane and the Arsenal midfield and he watch them and learnt from them. Sorely giving Karius a chance he will learn from his mistakes but needs a season or two too develope.

Kop69

{Ed001's Note - far too early to judge him as he does not have a lot to do so it is difficult, but he has done ok. Certainly a massive step up from Mignolet.}

1.) 01 Apr 2018 12:01:35
It is nice when you expect your keeper to save a routine shot rather then hope he will
so for me I very happy with the current keeper.

2.) 01 Apr 2018 13:01:26
He's a decent keeper. plenty to learn and improve on. I think with continued support and longer as number one he will become more and more confident. Wouldn't worry about the penalty conceded yesterday. Will learn from that and never happen again.

3.) 01 Apr 2018 13:47:37
The thing about that penalty incident yesterday for me is, if the ball connects with Zaha's foot and not his shin Karius probably makes a great save . I thought he was a wee bit unlucky in that regard .

28 Mar 2018 09:57:59
thank you Eds 01,02 for correcting me about defenders and and a goalkeeper coming through are youth. But do you see any other goalkeepers or defenders be given a chance next year with the first team. As what i have heard or read on this site is there is a younger keeper meant to be really good but can not remember his name. Also didn't we buy a spanish left back that meant to be good. Plus with your know how what is the goalkeepers name and left back do you see them good enough and anyone else.

Kop69

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect to see youth players currently not mentioned playing for the first team next season.}

1.) 28 Mar 2018 17:22:57
Mkscouser I wouldn’t want Butland for back up either don’t forget we still have Bogdan 😂😂😂😭😭😭😭.

27 Mar 2018 19:09:59
good evening EDS01,02
there are a lot of questions be asked who you think will get more game time next year. And you have give you told us about Brester and Wilson. Is there no young goalkeepers or central defenders that you think are good enough to make the next step and get some game time. Or are we just producing good kids that are wingers and stickers etc.

Kop69

{Ed001's Note - have you forgotten Ward and Gomez already? If you are going to say they are not through the academy, neither is Brewster.}

1.) 27 Mar 2018 19:53:21
Grabara, the u23 goalie is excellent but very young. No real standout centrehalves really. think with TAA, Gomez, Ward, Solanke, Woodburn and hopefully Wilson in around the squad we've enough youth to be trying to give gametime to. Curtis Jones and Brewster look very very good aswel.

2.) 27 Mar 2018 20:56:29
I think CB can be a hard position for a youngster to step into as any mistake will be highly scrutinised. Saying that I think Masterson has a bright future in the game either at Liverpool or elsewhere.

3.) 28 Mar 2018 04:17:09
Critchley has big raps on Phillips. He was till starting to really impress me before getting injured so haven't seen much of him for a while. Masterson does look good - but he really needs to concentrate more and make sure he works hard to get back.

4.) 28 Mar 2018 08:24:56
After the obvious one in Gomez, the standouts are Connor Masterson, Corey Whelan and Nat Phillips.

Masterson is the one whom most is expected of. Whelan was u23's captain last season though and is doing well on loan this season.
