News reports this morning are basically saying Neymar turned up to training, told the squad he is off and left. One of his agents, (one of how? many does he need? ), is supposedly in Paris. Now I appreciate Barcelona want Coutinho as his replacement but considering Neymar seems to have been the one in Coutinho's ear for so long does this make it less likely he would go there? The Neymar transfer seems to be a bit of a mess so could that closeness backfire on Barcelona and he tell PC to avoid? Is there a feel for whether the desire to play there or the connection to his Brazilian team mate is the stronger driver? Or am I just clutching at straws? (As an aside I've never really got the assumption that Portuguese soeaking/ influenced Brazilians automatically want to play for a Spanish club) .

Friends are important but Barcelona are still a huge club so it wouldn't change much. Also Couts was never seen as Neymar's replacement (frankly that would be a downgrade), he was being looked at for their midfield. I can see Barcelona switching their focus to Mbappe now which may impact their pursuit of Couts.

I still can't believe Paris are willing to pay so much for Neymar. He is an excellent player, but also comes across like Justn Bieber with his attitude. He is not worth it.
And yes, I think if he leaves Barcelona then Couts will not be as committed to jumping ship, which is looking good since Neymar has pissed off most of his team mates.

Barca will move for Sanchez the man Neymar replaced. Simple option better player than neymar. Just needs a i have never forgotten you phone call from messi.

Just a thought but as people pointed out to Sterling at the time, he did play in Europe and was pretty average while doing it. The club has sold the odd player here or there but other than Saurez they weren't necessarily the best player in the side at the point they left. Was Coutinho better than the other 3 currently still at the club? Sterling wasn't that special, Coutinho was clearly better, RS was just a self serving tool of a self serving agent not a star. Torres went down hill rapidly. Where is this massive player drain and where has the club plummeted from it? As people pointed out 2 trophied in 12 years not seen much change in league places. Nothing has really changed with or without them.

Can only assume a lot of fans on here play football manager and don't get the difference between that and the real world. Yes we should have taken the Coutinho money (that wasn't all in one go so didn't exist and doesn't just become pocket money to spend), spent it on player x (who obviously would just walk out of his own club) because it would be better than thinkinbg about what is being done. Can i ask do people read the stuff on here in a joined up way, eg trying offload Markovic who we bought cos we had money burning in our pockets. Or maybe another go with Andy Carroll but for £60m this time? Or maybe the club did spend "the Coutinho money" by buying VVD and will spend more as and where it is right to do so. Or go back to previous era of buying not good enough players for the sake of it.

When people say there's better out there, not fir that moeny etc do they mean don't buy anyone? People do realise don't they that fans can't keep moaning about needing a new keeper and then just indulge in fairy tail scenarios where the few world class keepers are going to leave the clubs they are at for LFC?

Origi is another I'd say is very good potentially but you'd ask the question is he title winning good and would he be willing to spend most of the season on the bench as a squad player? Personally i'd have thought answer is no to both but more so the second.

Stoneage personally i wouldn't use Courtois as an absolute top keeper, next level down maybe but I've always felt he was a bit over-hyped and his height was a factor in that. (He may be better than Mignolet and Karius but put him nehind a weak defence and he usn't going to change things all that much) .
