Looks like VVD, TAA and Gomez will all be missing on Wednesday.

We don't have much pace to deal with Vardy. Looks like we will have to defend deeper, no other option.

Just Pray VVD can get off his sick bed.

1.) 29 Jan 2019 01:56:05
guess we will have to go back to the old style of "score one more than the opposition"

2.) 29 Jan 2019 06:29:35
Nooooo. Virgil has to be ok surely, I’ve had a cold and cough last week or so but I’ve still gone to work lol.

3.) 29 Jan 2019 06:37:09
I must admit I'm quite concerned about this game going on that news, fingers crossed we can get the three points but I'm not very confident about this one.

4.) 29 Jan 2019 07:26:39
It’s going to snow in he midlands this week, maybe Vardy and Gray will simultaneously slip and twist an ankle. looks left and right)

5.) 29 Jan 2019 07:42:13
Salah, I share the same worries and thoughts mate. Could well be a struggle especially if Virgil is out. Don’t like the thought of Vardy, Gray and co running at Matip and Camacho. Are well it is what it is I guess and we will find out soon enough we’re we are at.

6.) 29 Jan 2019 07:53:34
We beat Leicester at their place earlier in the season, I have no doubt we'll see the off again tomorrow. May be a bit scrappy but I'm confident 👍.

7.) 29 Jan 2019 07:54:27
Bloody hell lads - what's going on? We have just had 11 days off, and we are playing at Anfield under the lights. Our defence and midfield will be similar to theirs but our front 3 will cause them all sorts of problems.

The team will need the support more than ever on Wednesday, stay positive. It won't all be plain sailing in winning the league.

No more negative posts.

8.) 29 Jan 2019 07:51:19
This is why our manager's use to say no one man is bigger than the club. We all start panicking because VVD is out, we just need to support the other £300M+ worth of talent we put out on the pitch.
Here's a stat to give you hope. Leicester have been beaten in the Premier league 9 times with teams that didn't contain VVD, TAA or any of our regular back line.

9.) 29 Jan 2019 07:53:34

11.) 29 Jan 2019 09:09:45
I’m no expert but I’d reckon they are more worried about our attack than we need to be about theirs.
It’ll be very difficult for them to attack at all when we smother them and bag 3 in the first half!

12.) 29 Jan 2019 10:45:56
For goodness sake, we are Liverpool, we are top of the Premier League, we are playing at home, it’s Leicester not Barcelona, they have lost 9 out of 23 Premier League games, we have got 29 points more then them - and they have got Wes Morgan and Harry Maguire in central
defence! Get a grip lads and have some faith in our manager and his squad.

13.) 29 Jan 2019 11:26:20
Have you been hanging around Walter salah? This is the first time I've seen a negative comment from you. ;)

14.) 29 Jan 2019 11:28:18
Van dijk will play unless he's still got the runs until 20 minutes before the game. He's made of stronger stuff and knows how important he is to us. I have no doubt he will play.

{Ed025's Note - gastroenteritis is a bad bug nun, if he plays i hope he does,nt lovren himself.. :)

15.) 29 Jan 2019 11:44:59
Surely you could lend him a couple of your immodiums ed25? 😉.

{Ed025's Note - either that or a pair of my lycra shorts KK.. :)

16.) 29 Jan 2019 12:49:44
If VVD sharted early in the game then that would prompt the Leicester players from getting too close - perfect solution for me.

17.) 29 Jan 2019 12:52:14
I'm confident of a 3-0 victory.

18.) 29 Jan 2019 13:28:08
I’ve seen us beat Leicester loads of times before we signed VVD and before we were anywhere near as good as we are now.
Why is everyone panicking so much?

19.) 29 Jan 2019 15:41:18
Alisson, Milner, Matip, Lovren, Robertson are enough against Leicester City.

20.) 29 Jan 2019 15:59:10
Uh no Milner maybe Camacho.

21.) 29 Jan 2019 17:34:43
Wow, a couple of injuries and this site suddenly turns in an episode of Dad's Army. Don't panic, don't panic!

22.) 29 Jan 2019 17:37:54
and I get told all season to be realistic? hypocrites.

23.) 29 Jan 2019 17:38:36
Klippertys klopp, hahaha about right mate lol.

24.) 29 Jan 2019 20:10:13
This is my worst fear. in the space of a week we will be behind city playing catch up. the league is finally lost even earlier than I expected.
Was good whilst it lasted.

25.) 29 Jan 2019 22:17:24
And suddenly its a chance to go 7 clear :)

Hey all, today and tomorrow before the match starts is positive post time.

The players who are coming back for tomorrow's game will make us much stronger. Bournemouth will allow us to play and they themselves have a couple of key injuries. After we get 3 points tomorrow we then have 10 days off to re group and we come back stronger. It was about this time last year we started to play our best football, there is no reason we won't do the same this year.

The league is ours to win, it's in our hands. We will start tomorrow by getting 3 points.

markp08

1.) 08 Feb 2019 10:04:19
Spot on mate.

2.) 08 Feb 2019 11:01:59
That's the spirit, Mark. Time to stand up, man up and support this team come hell or high water. We have NO choice.

3.) 08 Feb 2019 17:01:36
we'll have another clean sheet tomorrow and win the league. the time off in spain will help ease pressure and increase morale of the players and then we'll smash BM and win at Man U. How's that for being positive.

15 Jan 2019 12:17:45
TAA out for upto one month and Gini will miss the Palace game both with knee injuries. We really need the sunshine break next week.

markp08

30 Aug 2018 20:55:10
I don't get why everyone is saying this is a hard group. We need to stop acting like a small club I think we will win the group as we are better than PSG and Napoli are not at our level. Red Star have no chance. Expect nothing less than 13 points.

We are now one of the best 5 sides in europe and we are still on an upward curve. We should fear no one, let them fear us.

markp08

1.) 30 Aug 2018 21:12:57
There’s a balance between inferiority complex and delusion Mark. Top 5 sides in Europe? On our day yes, but not over a sustained period of time, not even close. We’re just creeping back into the big time at the moment and it’s important not to get complacent or arrogant.

2.) 30 Aug 2018 21:21:10
very positive post Mark, its something that will come into play, as we win more games, we got to the Final last season, and I think that we have greatly improved the team / squad, so why not believe that we can go all the way again .

3.) 30 Aug 2018 21:33:45
87 come on man. VVD is one of the very best defenders in the world. Allison is top class. Keita will be as good as any midfielder over this Champions league campaign and everyone tells me we have the best front 3 in the world.

Either we have or we don't. We have a top manager, a young hungry squad. I say 100% top 5 in Europe. I would love this side to play Madrid now. You come back after the group stages and tell me I am wrong and I will hold my hands up. Nothing to do with what day it is.

4.) 30 Aug 2018 21:38:33
Say again Mark😂😂 We are better than what?

5.) 30 Aug 2018 21:54:50
I take our side (barring injuries) over 2 legs to beat any other team in world football.

I take Allison, VVD, Keita and the front 3 to be better than what any other side can offer.

6.) 30 Aug 2018 22:08:38
Love it mark.

7.) 30 Aug 2018 22:28:22
Evening Salah glad you home mate

It is going to be a great season.

8.) 30 Aug 2018 22:32:07
We made the final last year and the squads been improved.

Knockouts anything can happen but sure we'll get through.

9.) 31 Aug 2018 00:48:28
You forgot Robertson!

10.) 31 Aug 2018 06:50:09
We have a very exciting team no doubt and I think we should make it through the groups.

But in my opinion the sort of confidence you’re displaying and a top 5 team in Europe is where we’re heading, not there yet. We’ve been in ECL twice in the last 10 years, one final appearance doesn’t change that. To be top 5 in Europe you need to be making the latter stages consistently. It’s extremely disrespectful towards real, Barca, Bayern, athletico, Juventus etc.

11.) 31 Aug 2018 06:59:31
Thanks mark, much appreciated mate.

26 Aug 2018 09:03:43
We are very lucky to have Mo Salah in our side. Even though he hasn't had his best stuff so far he effects nearly every game we play.

West Ham - first and most important goal.

Palace - won the penalty then got their player sent off.

Brighton - winning goal.

He has been a touch greedy, especially agains't Palace but all the best goal scorers are. I hope we don't have to rely on Salah in too many games. Last season when he had a dip in form we normally ended up dropping points, hopefully this season others will step up when most needed.

markp08

1.) 26 Aug 2018 09:45:30
Agree we are lucky to have Salah but disagree we rely on him too much. The system and work rate is what we rely on and it takes every player pulling in that same direction to maintain it. A lot of the games we dropped points in last season were down to mistakes or lapses in concentration in games we were actually on top in. We have a wonderful squad with plenty of match winners.

2.) 26 Aug 2018 12:10:36
I don't think that we would have won yesterday if Allison hadn't been in goal. Money well spent.
Disappointed that Klopp didn't change things earlier (we looked tired) feared the worst though when we had last year's midfield on for the last 30 mins. Think Shakira should have come on to give us a different attacking option. Pleased with the result let's keep going.

3.) 26 Aug 2018 12:32:17
He is putting his mark on games but I don’t think he’s even got going yet, that’s the scary thing for other teams.

4.) 26 Aug 2018 15:13:17
JK we have a good defensive record since VVD signed and we played a settled back 4, but in that time since the turn of the year we have still dropped many points. Most of the points we dropped were down to a lack of goals scored.

Hard work on it's own will win you nothing, match winners as you say often make the difference. We have Salah and Mane who will win us plenty matches but we will be better when the midfield scores a few goals and Firmino gets fit.

10 Aug 2018 10:40:49
Great transfer window, I am feeling really pumped for the season. To take on City of course we need to concede less but I feel we need to score at least 20 goals more. After the turn of the year we conceded 14 goals in 17 games but still dropped far too many points.

In 2013 - 2014 SAS scored 53 league goals no penalties and last season the front 3 scored 58 goals. I think they will and they have to get to 70 goals between them this season. If they are the so called best front 3 in the world they need to prove it. I can't see Origi, Solanke adding much to the number of league goals. In addition the midfield must score more goals especially with no Coutinho and OX. I think Shaqiri and Keita will both get 8-10 goals each. Hopefully Gini will turn up for a few more games and get his share as well. I don't see many goals in the rest of the midfield.

Bring it on, 105 league goals wanted.

markp08

1.) 10 Aug 2018 11:24:05
I think the team needs to start beating the so called bus parking teams more this year and stop conceding silly goals leading to lost leads, so better game management.
Goals are not everything, you can technically win the league unbeaten with maximum points by scoring just 38 goals.

2.) 10 Aug 2018 12:25:30
Klopp kept bringing on cbs to make a back 3 and we always looked worse when that happened. Without fail.

3.) 10 Aug 2018 12:47:03
Exactly so either shaqiri storms it and becomes a starter or instead of klavan coming on for the last 20 he does.

Also if studge can contribute 10 and keita 7 or 8, we are laughing.

If Alison can also concede ever 5 less it will bring extra points.

4.) 10 Aug 2018 12:50:27
When was the last time we conceded a silly goal that cost us the lead?
Van Dijk signing virtually put a stopper on that, I can't think of too many occasions after he came that we shot ourselves in the foot.

5.) 10 Aug 2018 13:44:06
I'd like to see more longer range shots from us, thundering into the back of the net this season.
But I'll settle for tap ins too as long we get three points 😉.

6.) 10 Aug 2018 14:18:48
Let’s just remember that most of the 25 (? ) point gap appeared in the first half of the season, without VVD.

In the second half we were not far behind at all, especially if you consider that we took our foot off the gas in the last few games to concentrate on the CL.

Alisson and Keita are definite first 11 improvers, Fabinho - we’ll if he isn’t an improvement on Hendo he is at least and improvement on Can so giving us more strength in depth. Shaqiri, as someone said above, gives us an attacking option rather than a defensive one for the last 20 mins.

If we don’t win the league this season I cannot see there being more than 3-6 points in it.

I still think we’ll win 👍.

7.) 10 Aug 2018 14:46:52
Hopefully we shall be 4-0 up by 55 mins each game anyway.

8.) 10 Aug 2018 15:13:26
Last time was the champions league final dude or have you blacked that out 😂.

9.) 10 Aug 2018 16:37:22
Haha beat me to it Zed!

10.) 10 Aug 2018 18:15:40
Not quite sure we’ll be 4-0 after 55mins.
Sunday is going to be a tough game.

11.) 10 Aug 2018 19:04:27
Spot on, Drogie. Sun will be a very tough game. As for how we can creep up on City this season, all the points made here are valid. HOWEVER, there is one more point that we need to address: Losing points from winning positions. That has been our bane since Klopp arrived. We dropped between 14 to 18 points from winning positions last season. City only dropped 3 I think. We won't be creeping up on City if we keep doing that.

Now, Some of it may be down to us becoming a back 5 when we are winning and then we wilt under pressure cos we are not built to sustain it incessantly. The issue is in midfield where we need to keep the ball better and Klopp has addressed that issue with Fab and Naby. Either way, we MUST improve here.

12.) 10 Aug 2018 19:46:27
Couldn’t agree more Brover.

13.) 10 Aug 2018 22:16:10
I thimk we will go ten games without conceding. I think we will become invincible. Can't wait.

{Ed0333's Note - I think your a crackhead

14.) 11 Aug 2018 05:12:22
Lol, no ed033. I am excited though. I bdt we concede less than 20 goals though.

Thanks a lot Carra much appreciated.

Posters on here commented that Wilson doesn't seem to get involved in the general build up as much as he should. I have watched him quite a few times recently and think it is more that he is making movements and taking up great positions but his team mates aren't at his level. I am excited to see him in pre season with better players.

I think it is to his credit he played for 90 minutes. Also he has played well in the last few games so will be a loss to the squad. Just hope Trent or Milner are fit.

Thanks for the review. £400,000 a week is a joke. If we paid £400,000 a week to Ramsey then we have to give the same or more to at least 10 players. You end up with wages that are the same as income. I don't get how they can afford it.

markp08

{Ed001's Note - they are banking on income from trophies (well they are sure to win Serie A as they will just buy off refs etc again if anyone gets close) plus Champions League income added to the boost in merchandising and sponsorship brought in by the acquisition of Ronaldo in the summer.}

Just need some players back TAA, then either Gini or Hendo would make us much stronger for the weekend. Then I think we get a much needed break to re group.

The Ferguson article was an eye opener for me, thanks for that I look forward to the full article.

On your scale if Matip and Robo get 2's Salah should get 1 and Firmino -1 he had an absolute shocker. I do feel all players start with a 5 and Firmino starts with an 8. There were so many times he had the ball in the final third and gave it away (easy passes were on), he did nothing positive in the game. As for tracking back he was pulling a caravan and never got near winning the ball back. He was subbed (early for Klopp) and rightly so.

markp08

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate.

You are wrong about Salah and Firmino, you clearly just remember the bad things and completely forget the good. Firmino had 82% pass completion, so all these passes you claim were given away are obviously in your imagination.}

Everton played to their level Ed. Tried hard but lacked the quality in the final third. I am pleased they gave them a relatively hard game. In the summer a centre forward must be a priority for Everton.

I think after a weeks rest Chelsea will take some points off them with Hazard the best player on the pitch.

markp08

{Ed025's Note - we did give them a decent game mark, we gave it our best but sometimes your best is just not enough mate..
