It was never in doubt!

Origi's last gasp winner rightly grabbed all LFC headlines at the weekend but let's not forget the loanees were in action to.

Lets start with those who did not feature and with the weekend off most like got a head start on their Christmas shopping.

Ben Woodburn was again not in the Sheffield United squad, the youngster has really struggled for a place and there are reports LFC are looking to cut his loan short.

Corey Whelan did not have a match this weekend, whilst Ings, Kent, Randall and Allan all missed out through injury. Shamal George was once again an unused sub.

Hes at it again.

Harry Wilson has been compared to Fernando Torres for the way he looks but if he keeps banging the goals in like he did at the weekend he will soon be compared based on performances too!

Wilson produced a MOTM display as Derby won 2-1 away to Swansea with the Welsh youngster netting both their goals.

With the game at 0-0 the Welsh wizard picked up the ball 25 yards from goal and hit an unstoppable drive into the top corner. He added his second ten minutes later as he won back possession, beat a defender and fired home into the bottom corner.

Karius had a night to forget in the Europa midweek being at fault for two early goals as Besiktas had to battle back from 2-0 to beat Sarsborg 3-2.

However the German retained his place at the weekend for the Istanbul derby against Galatasaray and he did not disappoint. He made a string of fine saves in a fiery derby as Besiktas beat Galatasaray 1-0.

Grujic continued his comeback from injury at the weekend as he again played the full 90 as Herta Berlin took on Hannover. The young Serbian was part of a midfield three that produced a dominant performance as Hertha went on to win the game 2-0.

Ojo made a rare start for Stade de Reims at the weekend, just his second of the season as the French side took on Marseille in Ligue 1.

Despite having more shots than any other player Ojo was unable to make the breakthrough and was subbed with 25 to go as the game fizzled out for a 0-0 draw.

Awoniyi again did not start for Gent this weekend however he did make an impact.

At 2-0 against Lokeren with 10 to go the manager took a last roll of the dice and threw the young forward into the mix. As the pressure grew the Lokeren defence finally cracked conceding twice in the final minute of the game for an eventual 2-2 draw.

All good things shall come to an end. After a fantastic streak of 5 goals in 5 games Herbie Kanes run of goals finished this weekend as Doncaster faced Charlton in the FA Cup.

However the young Red still gave a very good performance as Doncaster beat Charlton 2-0 to move into the third round of the FA Cup.

Ejaria was at the heart of midfield and at the heart of everything as Rangers took on Hearts in the SPL this weekend.

A feisty affair saw the Gers reduced to 10 men but that did not stop them taking all 3 points in a hard fought victory that saw them leapfrog Celtic and go top of the SPL.

Adam Bogdan had a weekend to forget as Hibs lost 3-0 to Kilmarnock in what has been described as a dire performance from the club.

And it was a Monday night to remember for Arroyo as he continues to learn his trade in the Gent U21 squad. Playing the full 90 at full back the young red put in an impressive performance as Gent beat table toppers Standard Liege 3-1.

And that's your lot.

Thanks for the update Carra.

I just don't see it, i can't understand why people think Wilson looks like Torres, they look nothing alike. It baffles me!

2.) 04 Dec 2018 17:01:01
Thank you very much carra.

3.) 04 Dec 2018 19:23:29
Wilson looks a real player as far as I’m concerned. The boy has the lot and he’s stood head and shoulders above the rest at Derby.

4.) 05 Dec 2018 02:55:14
Has anyone watched wilson's full performances or jist seeing the goals? Anyone have any inaight into his game and where he may fit in our system.

5.) 05 Dec 2018 09:21:42
im a welsh fan, Wilson and Woodburn are poor when not surrounded by talent which is the worry, although LFC full of it, you'd expect them to lead when welsh team is full of youngsters. ie the Albania friendly game which we lost. Their performances, decision making (which is mark of great player) and positional play have been poor. Wilson gets the headlines like he did against ireland with the goal but he's so ineffective for large parts of the game. hopefully he will improve but he's beyond the age of a youngster, he's been in wales team since 15 but never really got going . if you really want to see a player at LFC. Klopp should keep tabs on BROOKS outstanding player. completely tears defences apart, leads the team like a gerrard used to.

6.) 05 Dec 2018 19:18:52
I’m not sure international football is a good marker for young talents to be honest mate. Even low level national teams are made up of seasoned pros who, despite playing at a lower level domestically, know how to manipulate younger, less experienced players. I’ve not seen any of the Wales games, just an opinion. That said, anyone seen any Derby games? The words ‘won back possession, beat a defender and fired into the bottom corner’ made me think Klopp might like the player he gets back next preseason.

7.) 05 Dec 2018 23:53:21
Who’s his manager at International level? The hardly inspirational Ryan Giggs. He’s doing very well at Derby, he’s grabbed the chance with both hands. I couldn’t care less if he’s poor for Wales, club football matters more.

8.) 06 Dec 2018 00:40:42
@riomazy which brooks are you referring to? Brooks-lennon has transferred to Salt Lake City so unlikely to ever be back.

9.) 06 Dec 2018 00:43:11
oh sorry I think I misread your post. Im guessing you are talking about David Brooks who plays for Bournemouth?

27 Nov 2018 12:13:46
Premier League football was back with a bang this weekend as the Reds put to bed any fears of International break fatigue with a comfortable 3-0 win over Watford.

But that's enough about them, the loanees also returned to action hoping to follow the example set by Jurgen Klopp's high flying men.

9 Reds featured in this weekends action with Ings, Kent and Randall all missed out through injury. Woodburn and George were not used by their respective clubs and therefore featured for the Liverpool U23's to keep up their fitness.

He's been out for two months but Grujic is back and gave an impressive performance in the heart of midfield as Hertha Berlin drew 3-3 with Hoffenheim. Thrown straight in at the deep end Grujic played the entire 90 and looked like he had never been away.

Kane can't stop scoring! And no I am not talking about Harry. Herbie Kane netted yet another goal for Doncaster following his outrageous strike in the FA Cup a couple weeks ago.

With the score even in the 52nd minute Kane rose like a salmon to put away a well delivered cross to give Doncaster the lead. Unfortunately they could not hold on to the lead as the score finished 1-1.

Another Red scored at the weekend but this time it is a much more familiar site as Harry Wilson yet again found his name on the score sheet.

Trailing 1-0 in the first half Wilson got the Rams back into the match on the half hour mark with a well taken volley to take his tally to 5 for the season.

The Rams went on to win 2-1 and stay in the hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

Ovie Ejaria started for Rangers against Livingstone as Steven Gerrards men looked to continue climbing the table.

It was a tidy display from Ejaria who played for 80 minutes as the Gers won 3-0 moving them up to second and just two points behind Celtic.

Staying with players North of the Border Adam Bogdan again featured for Hibs as they faced Dundee on Saturday.

It was an entertaining game for the spectators as the match finished 2-2 in what has been described as an end to end game.

Corey Whelan and Crewe had an afternoon to forget as they were hammered 3-0 by Crawley Town in League 2. Whelan stayed on for the full 90 which must mean he was not the worst player on the pitch (silver linings) .

Ahead of the weekends action Karius posted a video of himself on his instagram titled 'Back to Best' which featured a montaged of all his best saves in a Besiktas shirt. To me I thought he had set himself up to fail but the man proved me wrong as he produced a confident display as Besiktas beat Ankaragucu 4-1. (Just a shame it wasn't a clean sheet ;) ) .

But on a serious note I think I speak for all Reds when I say I hope the good form continues and he manages to move on from the nightmare night a few months ago in some small cup competition.

Awoniyi again came off the bench as KAA Gent drew 0-0 with Antwerp. This was the fourth game in a row he came off the bench but also it is the fourth time in doing so that he has failed to score.

Last but not least young Full Back Arroyo featured for Gent U21's as they drew 2-2 with Sporting Charleroi.

And that's your lot.

1.) 27 Nov 2018 13:03:26
hi Carra thanks for the info.

2.) 27 Nov 2018 17:31:18
Great write up as usual Carra. Thanks.

3.) 27 Nov 2018 18:21:06
Cheers Carra.

4.) 27 Nov 2018 19:38:31
Cheers Carr’s! I’m sure Harry will claim those goals for Herbie though!

5.) 27 Nov 2018 21:53:00
Good man thanks.

6.) 27 Nov 2018 23:02:26
If you are wondering why it looks a bit more article like nowadays it’s because I write for a couple sites (don’t worry Ed’s I won’t promote a rival 🙂 )
I do the weekly loan write up and so copy what I have wrote already as opposed to writing it twice.

7.) 28 Nov 2018 03:39:37
I wondered why your posts looked familiar.!

{Ed001's Note - he is going up in the world! Or maybe I should be saying down as writing it on here is clearly the pinnacle....}

8.) 28 Nov 2018 06:36:58
It is Ed! Best site around!

But I’m not going to turn down a bit of extra pocket change the wife need more money to spend aimlessly 🙂.

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, I am just glad to see you are doing well. You have been doing us a favour on here and I am glad you are getting the rewards for it now. Actually, if you don't mind and have a chance to do so, would it be possible for you to write an article explaining how others could go about getting paid writing gigs? I was thinking there are a lot of people on here who say they want to do it, but I would understand if you don't have the time or don't want to. It was just a thought as so many ask me and I honestly don't have a clue as I only write for here and have never even tried to get other gigs. Or even just a tip or two would be helpful. I don't think it is still possible to do what we did here any more, as search engines now have so many of their results 'sponsored' it is difficult to just build a following for your own site without spending money on advertising. We have never had an advertising budget to advertise, so we had to rely on word of mouth and getting ranked highly on search engines. So I am not sure any advice I have for them would still be relevant!}

9.) 28 Nov 2018 16:19:45
Hi Ed,

I replied to your post this morning however I was on my phone and these things don't always send for whatever reason. I just wanted to make sure you got my message and that you didn't think I was ignoring your reply.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't get it sorry mate.}

10.) 28 Nov 2018 17:23:48
To be honest Ed I found my way very quickly and a bit by fluke if anything.
I follow various Liverpool sites on Twitter and every now and again these sites will advertise for new writers.
On two occasions I replied to adverts and sent over a piece they might like, luckily in both instances they did.
For a while I then wrote weekly pieces for each site for free but after a while I negotiated a small % based on how many clicks the article gets.

And you don't need to thank me for contributing to the site I enjoy it and I am looking forward to finally getting to meet some of you at the next Charity match. As long as I don't get injured again.

{Ed001's Note - even if you are injured you should still go along and cheer on my team to victory.....

As for the rest, cheers mate, just thinking it might help some of these on here looking to get into it. I mean they can write articles for us for free to establish themselves, but the idea is it is just to give them somewhere to show they have published work when they apply for paid work later.}

11.) 29 Nov 2018 07:51:06
Nice one carra, your work is always appreciated! also, glad to hear you are getting recognised elsewhere as well, that's brilliant mate :) .

02 Oct 2018 06:49:02
Morning Ed's,

I have to ask as I take your words as gospel.

Is there any truth to the Ramsey to LFC rumours? Or are the papers just creating headlines

Thanks Ed's.

23carragold

{Ed002's Note - What I understand the situation to be is that Arsenal had reached a general agreement with Aaron Ramsey and his agent for a new contract but concerns were expressed about his "comportement" so a new deal is on hold but might yet be possible. Right now the two players that Unai Emery thinks about as possible central midfield replacements seem very unlikely options to the person I spoke with so it is unclear where this might end up. In terms of interest: Liverpool yes, and they would provide the best financial solution for the player. Juventus have at least four options in front of him so not right now. Milan yes they are interested - they have targets ahead of him but one is unaffordable at this time and attracting attention from elsewhere; the others are free agents in the summer but one is looking to head elsewhere and the other is Cesc Fabregas. I do not know of interest from Spain but, like Italy, wages would be an issue. Do not be surprised by interest coming from other English sides at some point.

It is good to have a question about transfers.}

1.) 02 Oct 2018 11:35:42
Thanks for that ed2, impressed as always with the level of detail.
Question (for the group really but will be cool if ed2 can add) - if/ when Ramsay at pool, who is it likely instead of?
Of the top of my head I count Milner (age) and Gini (? ) .
Any thoughts?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool priced Wijnaldum out of a move in the summer but he has become a starter - whether he remains so when Fabinho settles we will see. Against Milner is his age and a thought that he might look to move on when his contract runs out in the summer.}

2.) 02 Oct 2018 12:05:19
Cheers Ed002 always appreciate the info.

His injury record is worrying for the wages he'd be on, but I can see how it might be tempting for the club with him being out of contract. I'd be curious to see how he'd fair in Italy. Also in regard to our midfield, we still have the Ox to come back as well.

{Ed002's Note - I would agree that the muscle injuries would have to be taken in to account but there is some interest. I will admit I am rather surprised about the interest from Liverpool. Whilst Juventus have other priorities it should be remembered that they are going to have a pretty major reshuffle at board level later this month and there might well be some rethinking about the midfield plans they have at the moment - which could well see a glance back in Ramsey's direction.}

3.) 02 Oct 2018 12:23:17
I imagine Lallana will be leaving the squad as well as a couple of others in offensive positions so there might be a bit of space for him to squeeze into the squad.

I think we'll have to see how the season progresses though and what happens with someone like Gini, if he slips back into his previous inconsistency then perhaps he will leave and they'll be room for Ramsey.

I think Ramsey is a decent player and certainly could be worthwhile bringing in on a free transfer at the end of the season, I think we'll need to see how our current crop of midfielders get on though over the season and whether Ramsey would actually be an upgrade.

4.) 02 Oct 2018 16:10:55
Great to here some transfer news ed. Tbh its been a while that anyone has even asked about them. I do agree though that Ramsey is a strange one.

5.) 02 Oct 2018 16:52:58
Apologies if I should be taking this rumour with a pinch of salt, but with Rabiot’s contract expiring next season I have read we are looking at him?

Is this true or is it putting 1+1 = a tree.

{Ed002's Note - Try the search engine please.}

6.) 03 Oct 2018 18:51:22
Thumbs up if you had to Google what comportement means.

11 Sep 2018 17:34:14
Must be a slow news week as it is being reported that Barcelona want Moreno in January!

Can't see that happening myself.

23carragold

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have four LBs they have an interest in - prhaps they would be interest in a pre-contract for Moreno but I think it unlikely.}

1.) 12 Sep 2018 07:44:02
Well he wouldn't have to do any defending at Barca, so he might actually do quite well.

2.) 12 Sep 2018 09:14:37
I was having a conversation with a few friends a couple weeks ago about Moreno, and after a bit of debate we came to a conclusion that not many teams have a backup LB of his level. Additionally, we struggled to name more than 5/ 6 from the Premier League we would have ahead of him in general (I can't recall the exact list, but it's probably obvious) - I even had a United fan in agreement on this point!

In my opinion, he is a great option to have in back up to Robbo, if we can keep ahold of him.

That being said, I could see him doing well in Spain if he went back.

3.) 12 Sep 2018 10:12:41
I think the good thing and problem with Moreno is that he's so different to Robbo in so many ways. If we want to change up what we're doing because its not working he's a great option to have around as backup. But if we need to replace Robbo involuntarily (injury, suspension etc) then we really have to change how we defend to avoid the big gaping hole he leaves.

That being said, I am curious as to how he'd do next to VVD. Not curious enough to drop Robbo but definitely curious.

4.) 12 Sep 2018 10:16:56
Think the league might suit him as before, my question to the Eds is if you know what the club has in hold for him with his contract running down? Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - the question more is whether he would want to stay as a back up.}

5.) 12 Sep 2018 11:13:12
Lewis looks like he’s going to be ready in the next year or so too.

6.) 12 Sep 2018 12:25:14
Honestly the kid showed his willing to knuckle down and do the hardwork pity his best isn't really consistent.1st milly now Robbo wouldn't really blame him if he moved on.1 thing for sure is that he always gave his all.

{Ed002's Note - Although this is not the Barcelona page perhaps I should explain. Barcelona has a #1 pick left back in Jordi Alba but when they first approached him about a new contract he was unsure, so they came up with a list of four players they could potentially look to as they did not see Digne as the ideal replacement. Since then, the player and the club have come to an agreement to discuss a new contract this coming winter, so the priority has switched to a replacement for Digne who has departed to Everton. This is where the problem comes, the club have a reserve player in Juan Miranda who they have great hopes for but he is not seen as ready to step up just yet - but they hope he will be. They have their eyes on a young left back who is seen to be ideal as an initial back up and then as an eventual replacement for Alba who will be one of a growing number of players who will be 30+ by the end of the season, but he will not be interested in being a back up. This puts them in the position of looking for cover in January with no budget assigned (as that budget is being taken up by significant purchses they are looking at elsewhere) - and Valverde wants a specific player but others want to utilise B team players if they can and save money for starters. They will look to add a LB in January but have shown no interest in Moreno at all - he doesn't feature in any of this.}

7.) 12 Sep 2018 12:25:30
Thanks again for the quick response.

8.) 12 Sep 2018 13:59:30
Who’s the player they want Ed? Alonso by any chance?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are referring to.}

9.) 12 Sep 2018 22:46:11
Wow Ed2 never fail to blow me away with your depth in. Knowledge. Much appreciate the insight!

I’m Hoping the significant purchase that you mention is not a current Liverpool player! Any chance you care to expand on that?

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona have plans to start on a rebuild due to having an aging squad. They will spend significant funds on the first pick players.}

10.) 12 Sep 2018 23:01:28
Thanks Ed.

Sounds ominous. can hear the jaws sound track dun dun dun dun dun dun.

{Ed002's Note - Other clubs are doing the same - Real Madrid is one example.}

11.) 13 Sep 2018 01:21:20
As always ED02, Thank You for sharing your insight with us, very valued by a lot of us on these rumor pages.

{Ed002's Note - You are very sweet.}

12.) 13 Sep 2018 12:34:42
Great read Ed, thanks for the info and time.

13.) 27 Sep 2018 07:57:34
You can only think of 5/ 6 better? I’d like monreal specifically, Asa think he’s underrated as, but him, Shaw, Chilwell, Mendy, Robbo, rose, Davies, baines to name a few! I know some there can’t defend, but neither can Moreno and is an accident waiting to happen.

03 Sep 2018 15:27:47
Good Afternoon Redmen,

Hope all is well and that you are looking forward to the international break as much as I am. (Yawn) .

4 wins from 4, can't really complain, but I have to say we did not play well. The game seemed to completely bypass our midfield. We either played it back to Allison or long to the forward players.
I think Wijnaldum fell into a black hole in the 26th minute when he played that under-hit pass because from that moment on I didn't see him, has anyone checked if he is ok?!

In all seriousness Leicester is a difficult place to go and so to walk away from there with 3 points speaks volumes.

Enough of my ramblings, time for the loan update.

Southampton have a new striker who is setting the league on fire! 2 goals now in 3 starts for Danny Ings who scored the games opener as Saints beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
There is a history of Liverpool taking Southamptons best players and if Ings carries on like this we might not let them keep him :)

Ejaria scored his second goal for Rangers on Thursday night and this time it was a screamer.
Rangers only needed a draw to see them reach the Europa League group stages for the first time in a decade but Ejaria's early strike set them on the path for victory.
It was not a straight forward game for Gerrards boys though who were pegged back and reduced to 9 men in the second half!
However they clang on for a famous draw and can now look forward to competing in Europe this season.
Ejaria also played the full 90 against Celtic at the weekend and put in a good shift, unfortunately they were on the wrong side of a 1-0 defeat.

Ejaria has stolen all the headlines up North but Ryan Kent also played the full 90 in both games and put in good shifts, particularly against FC Ufa.

For those that missed it Sheyi Ojo moved to Stade de Reims on Thursday night and 48 hours he was thrown straight into action.
Ojo came on for the final 15 as Reims lost 1-0 to Montpellier.

Besiktas saw the best and the worst of Karius at the weekend as he made his first start for the club.
The first half saw Karius pull off a string of fine saves including a 1v1 to keep his team ahead at the break.
However with 5 minutes left in the game Karius completely misread a pass leaving him in no mans land allowing Bursapor to equalise. The game finished 1-1.

Grujic made his first start for Hertha Berlin and put in a mixed performance. Strong on the ball and good in the air Grujic dominated the centre of the park. However the young serb was sloppy in possession and also gave away a penalty.
Fortunately for him the penalty was saved and Hertha went on to win the game 2-0.

Awoniyi is finding life in the upper tiers of Football much more difficult as his struggles infront of goal at Gent continue.
After an ineffective hour against Bordeaux in the Europa league last week Awoniyi was subbed off with his team going on to lose 2-0 and be eliminated from the competition.
The young man was then left out of the squad completely for the weekend game against Cercle Brugge. With no suggestions he was injury it looks like he was dropped purely due to his bad form.

Randall made his debut for Rochdale in the league cup but was subbed after 60 minutes due to injury as they went on to lose 2-1 to Boro.
The injury meant Randall missed the weekends action.

The ever present Herbbie Kane played the full 90 for Doncaster as they drew 1-1 with Peterborough at the weekend.

And finally Adam Bogdan put in a good performance as Hibs lost 2-1 to Livingstone. There was little he could do about either goals and he was one of the few Hibs players who could leave the field with his head held high.

Whelan and Wilson are both still injured.

And that's your lot.

23carragold

1.) 03 Sep 2018 15:48:25
Very happy for Danny Ings. I only wish it would have worked out for him at LFC. I'm a big fan.

2.) 03 Sep 2018 16:48:59
Danny Ings is far better than Origi, solanke and at the moment I’d have him ahead of sturridge based on his last few seasons. A fully fit sturridge is a different matter, wish Ings all the best and hopefully he gets his career back on track as his injuries haven’t helped his time with us.

3.) 03 Sep 2018 22:17:54
Thanks Carra, nice update. The young reds seem to be struggling a bit apart from Ings and Ejaria.
👍.

4.) 03 Sep 2018 22:24:50
Great, cheers carra much appreciated mate.

Same here stone, I really like Ings, gutted it didn't work out for him here.

5.) 03 Sep 2018 22:25:22
I’ve watched a couple of rangers games and Ejaria does actually stand out as one of the best players in the rangers team.

6.) 04 Sep 2018 06:48:38
Cheers carra.
Where's Allan got to?

7.) 04 Sep 2018 10:19:56
I like Ingsy a lot too and it's nice to see him get starts. I've watched a bit of him and you can literally see the Liverpool in that goal as well as his all-round play.
Remind me Ed is the fee already agreed and can't be changed? 20 mil or sth like that is it? If he bangs in 20 for Southampton this season they'll be happy they got a bargain.
It's actually kinda nice to give something back to the club that gave us Virgil, Sadio, and, uhm, the rest. :)

{Ed002's Note - The fee has been agreed already.}

8.) 04 Sep 2018 10:10:44
Hi Faith,

Allan is currently with Eintracht Frankfurt but was left out of the squad at the weekend.

I just realised I also forgot to mention that Woodburn was an unused sub at the weekend as was Shamal George.

Arroyo was not in the Gent match day squad but this is understandable as he only made the move late last week.

9.) 04 Sep 2018 12:12:39
Great update as usual.

I particularly like the fact that you've developed a catchphrase - 'And that's your lot'

:-)

10.) 04 Sep 2018 15:07:21
Parma some say I am the 'Roy Walker' of Liverpool Rumours.

11.) 04 Sep 2018 18:44:31
Cool re:Allan.
Cheers bud.

12.) 05 Sep 2018 18:30:44
Thanks Carra! ’ Much appreciated! Always a good read.

Worked with a few Evertonians today. They were absolutely sick with how they lost the game.

To be honest I do feel their pain but we won so its funny

"Its Sunday night and he scored against the Sh*^t£"

"Divock Origi".

{Ed025's Note - i dont think rodgers and hammerstein or bernie taupin have much to worry about carra..

Another week goes by and the Mighty Reds remain undefeated, but its not all about them! let's take a look at how the loanee's faired in what was a more productive week than last for the young Reds.

Firstly the Reds who did not feature in the weekends action. Shamal George remained an unused sub for Tranmere Rovers whilst Allan, Ojo and Awoniyi all did not feature for their respective clubs. Grujic and Connor Randall are both still sidelined with injury.

Now for those that did.

Wilson continued his fine form this weekend with another goal as Derby beat Birmingham 3-1.In the 55th minute Wilson lined up a free kick at an acute angle to the right of the goal and deceived everyone as he bent it home at the near post.

Wilson was again deployed in the roaming role behind the striker and was a key player for Frank Lampards men. Klopp has struggled to fill this particular role since Coutinho left the club so maybe the development of Wilson is one to keep an eye on.

Danny Ings mini goal drought came to an end at the weekend as he netted a first half penalty against Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday. Unfortunately for Ings and Southampton this is as good as it got as the Saints were thumped 6-1 by the Manchester city steamroller.

Speculation is growing that Mark Hughes will soon be replaced at St Mary's.

Ben Woodburn (Remember him) made a surprise return to the Sheffield Utd squad at the weekend after spending 6 weeks in the wilderness.

Woodburn started on the bench but came on as a late sub as the Blades lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest.

The ever present Herbie Kane completed another 90 minutes for League 1 Doncaster as they lost 2-0 to Charlton Athletic on Saturday. Kane batted hard and was a dominant presence throughout the 90 but was unable to get rewards for his graft.

Corey Whelan had a weekend to forget for Crewe as he was hooked at half time in what was a poor team performance. The manager put it down to a 'Tactical switch' but it its never nice to leave the field with 45 minutes still to play.

Crewe lost the game 2-0 to Northampton.

It was back to winning ways for Rangers and the on loan Reds Ejaria and Kent who took on St Mirren at the weekend.

In what was a pretty routine victory the young Reds both featured for the full 90 as Rangers won the tie 2-0.

Staying North of the border it was not a great day for Adam Bogdan and Hibs who lost 1-0 to St Johnstone on Saturday.

Only one Red featured outside the UK this weekend and it was the man never far from the Headlines Loris Karius.

Karius kept his place in goal for Besiktas as they faced league leaders Basaksehir in what turned out to be a disappointing day for the team. A win would of closed the gap on the team at the top but it was not to be as Besiktas continued their poor form with a 1-0 defeat.

Besiktas now sit 6th in the league and on current form continue to slip down the table.

And that's your lot :)

Thank you carra, great read.

2.) 06 Nov 2018 12:31:34
Nice one Carra 👍🏻.

3.) 06 Nov 2018 12:43:48
Wilson had an excellent game. He came close on two other free kicks and played a great through ball only for the keeper to save.
I hope he can keep it up for the rest of the season.

4.) 06 Nov 2018 13:09:18
Cheers carra, much appreciated mate.

5.) 06 Nov 2018 13:29:24
Wilson hit the post with another free kick too. I watched the highlights on YouTube and almost every clip starts with him driving at the opposite defence with the ball. Impressive.

6.) 06 Nov 2018 15:11:57
Good stuff.

7.) 06 Nov 2018 15:34:59
Thanks laar.

Another week, another win for the reds; but how did the Liverpool Loanee's fair?

It was a quieter week for those on loan with just 10 players featuring in the weekends action.

Ben Woodburn continues to be a growing cause for concern as the promising youngster was left out of the Sheffield Utd squad for a 6th consecutive game, whilst Shamal George and Sheyi Ojo were also unused.

Marko Grujic and Connor Randall are both still sidelined and Adam Bogdan's Hibs did not have a match at the weekend.

Karius and Besiktas got back to winning ways after 4 games without a win (losing 3) as they thumped Rizespor 4-1 in the Monday night game.

Karius had very little to do other than pick the ball out of the back of his net as Rizespor rarely threatened the home side over the course of the game.

Anderson Arroyo continued his fine form for Gent U21s last night as they picked up a 2-1 home win against Zulte-Waregem.

The Gent Mens team won by the identical scoreline at the weekend but Awoniyi was a lot less involved. A late cameo was all that was rewarded to the youngster for a second week running.

Young Full-Back Corey Whelan found himself on the scoresheet this weekend as he opened the scoring for Crewe in the 70th minute. With only his second senior goal to date Whelan controlled a cross field pass with his right before slotting home with his left. Crewe went on to beat Grimsby 2-0.

Kent and Ejaria had a very disappointing weekend as Rangers lost the League Cup semi final to Aberdeen at Hampden Park.

Both Red loanees played the full 90 but were unable to create the breakthrough as the Gers slumped to a 1-0 defeat.

The goals have dried up for Danny Ings and Southampton as they fired a blank for the third game in a row. Fellow strugglers Newcastle visited St Mary's at the weekend and left with a point as the game finished 0-0.

Harry Wilson was not on the scoresheet this weekend but he did get an assist as Derby drew 1-1 with Middlesborough.

A win would of seen Derby go top and they were minutes away from achieving their aim only to be undone by a comical own goal by defender Jayden Bogle.

Wilson was deployed in the playmaker role of a midfield 3 and had a very effective and productive evening.

Herbie Kane made his 17th start of the season for Doncaster as they lost 2-1 to Coventry on Saturday. Not the result he would of wanted but the young midfielder continues to impress whilst on loan.

Last but not least Allan Rodrigues was back in the Eintracht squad after being left out of the Europa game mid week.

Allan came on for the final 20 and helped his team battle back as they drew 101 with Nurnberg.

And that's your lot :)

He is still young Woodburn but it is peculiar he hasn't been able to kick on in the last couple seasons. So much promise and potential. Wilson on the other hand has been consistent and scored a few worldies. Really excited to see him in the team in the coming seasons.

2.) 30 Oct 2018 16:42:08
NICE! Thanks Carra.

What's going on at Shef Utd?

3.) 30 Oct 2018 16:48:56
Thanks Carra.

To quote a Derby friend of mine, “Harry could walk into your midfield right now. He is that good. ”

I’m not sure I agree but I think he is playing every game at the Rams in the style that he knows Klopp likes. He is playing already with the high tempo pass and attack that is needed and is always the first one to chase back when the ball is lost. Very positive signs.

4.) 30 Oct 2018 17:56:19
Thank you very much carra.

5.) 30 Oct 2018 18:21:11
Thank you Carra!
ED001 if I may - is Wilson finally a loanee youngster that will come back and really succeed?
Your hunch as things stand?

{Ed001's Note - he is certainly the one that is doing enough to give himself a chance. The most likely is he gets sold though I hope not as I don't see another youngster out on loan impressing like him.}

6.) 30 Oct 2018 23:04:16
Thanks for that ed.
Does make you bit depressed for the state of the youth teams doesn't it.
At least we have TAA as one success story.

{Ed001's Note - that is not so bad at this level, there are very few coming through from top clubs youth teams directly into the first teams.}

7.) 31 Oct 2018 04:16:31
The super successful teams always have youth players breaking through. I think it's something klopp wants to do and Wilson, Woodburn, brewster and solanke. Not to mention Curtis Jones all have themselves in with a shout.

8.) 31 Oct 2018 07:53:13
Hi Ed001, do you think that would send a bad message and maybe dishearten young players from joining if Wilson was sold? I mean what else is the lad supposed to do, consistently impressing on loan, i'd be very disappointed if he doesn't get some sort of look in next season.

{Ed001's Note - it would certainly make me wonder if he doesn't get a chance and if I was a parent I would be considering my options if it was my child being offered a place. And if I would do that, then that would be the same for lots of others.}

9.) 31 Oct 2018 14:28:51
I hope he gets a shot in place of Lallana next season, he’s far more direct and dangerous in open play and I think it’s time to give him a chance given how he’s performed on loan.

I actually think he’ll make a perfect backup to Shaqiri. He’s capable of playing in midfield, at 10 or out wide, scores goals and has a wicked free kick. all very similar traits to Shaqiri even if unproven at the very top.

23 Oct 2018 10:27:13
Liverpool were back in action this weekend after the international break as were 11 of the 14 Liverpool players out on loan.

Ben Woodburn continues to be overlooked at Sheffield United as he was not selected for the match day squad for the fourth straight week. In a surprise twist Woodburn actually played for the Liverpool U23s for an hour this weekend in order to keep up his fitness.

Shamal George was again an unused sub for Tranmere as he once again warmed his favourite spot on the bench. Unfortunately for George the game was not even a good watch at Tranmere drew 0-0 with Yeovil.

Allan was left out the matchday squad as Eintracht thumped bottom of the table Fortuna 7-1 on Friday night.

Anderson Arroyo is continuing his development featuring for the Gent u21 team as they drew 1-1 with Sporting Lokeren.

It has been a frustrating couple seasons for Kent with loan moves which did not work out but at Rangers he finally seems to of found his feet and shooting boots!

Kent scored the opener as Rangers won 4-1 away to Hamilton in what was an all round great display by the young winger.

Ejaria also featured alongside Kent producing a dominant display at the centre of the Rangers midfield.

Ojo again started on the bench for Stade De Reims but this time his introduction to the game had the desired effect.

At 1-0 down Ojo was introduced with 30 minutes to play. Ojo produces a lively display and it was his shot that was parried which lead to the equaliser as the game finished 1-1. Hopefully this performance will lead to Ojo getting his first start in the coming weeks.

Danny Ings started but had a pretty tame afternoon as Southampton drew 0-0 with Bournemouth in a South Coast derby. Ings would of been hoping to do more against one of his former clubs.

As stated above Sheffield United chose not to play Woodburn and as a result Harry Wilson ensured they suffered. Wilson started and played the full 90 in a lively performance as Derby beat Sheffield Utd 2-1.

Bogdan's run of 4 clean sheets in a row came to an end as Hibs came up against Celtic. Instead it was 4 goals conceded as Hibs lost the game 4-2. Despite the result Bogdan produced a string of fine saves and cannot be faulted for his display.

Herbie Kane was subbed after an hour as Doncaster drew 3-3 with Gillingham which was probably his quietest performance to date.

Corey Whelan enjoyed his second win at Crewe as they defeated Stevenage 1-0 on Saturday. Whelan completed the full 90 minutes.

There was speculation that Karius was to be dropped this weekend as the Turkish SuperLig returned but the young German kept his place in the team, however that was as good as it got for Karius as he was unable to prevent Besiktas losing 2-0 to Goztepe. The only good news to take from the game is that neither goal can be pinned on him.

And last but not least Awoniyi got to taste victory for the first time in a while as he made a late cameo for Gent. Already 3-0 up Awoniyi entered the game with 10 minutes to go as Gent went on to eventually win 4-0.

And that's your lot :)

23carragold

{Ed025's Note - great stuff as usual carra...cheers mate..

1.) 23 Oct 2018 10:51:22
Cheers carra, appreciated mate.

2.) 23 Oct 2018 11:12:32
Thanks carra lad.

3.) 23 Oct 2018 11:31:14
Personally think carras reports should have their own page? So we can catch them when they’re missed, and also able to see the progress each week of the players.
Thanks Carra.

4.) 23 Oct 2018 12:46:44
My own page on this site would be something I would tell my grandkids :)

5.) 23 Oct 2018 13:52:26
Cheers Carra, your own page would be very well deserved. Fantastic updates.

I'm glad Kent and Wilson's loans are going well, would love if one of them played a part as a rotation player next year. Cover for Mane would be nice as Shaqiri doesn't seem comfortable on the left.

Was shocked when I read online that Woodburn played for Liverpool u23, might be time for a recall. I still think a loan would suit him, but he needs first time football.

6.) 23 Oct 2018 17:59:11
I second the Carra report page, would stop the questions about how youngsters are progressing if you could click on a link, just a thought.

7.) 23 Oct 2018 18:09:33
I like that idea of a carra page, would be great if it can be done. Good suggestion benny.

Off topic but benny I'll get whatsapp in the next few days mate, just getting my phone sorted and needed a bit of help with it because its new, blags my head to be honest lol. Will hit you up on the the next couple of days when I get somebody to get it sorted for me (probably tomorrow)

8.) 23 Oct 2018 18:22:10
No rush Salah lad.

9.) 24 Oct 2018 14:56:51
Great update as ever, Allan was actually on the bench in the game Carra mentions under his alternative name of Souza, his full name is Allan Rodrigues de Souza. He never got on the pitch though.

10 Oct 2018 11:51:26
I've kept you waiting again, I apologise. But like a fine wine the Loan report only gets better the longer you leave it.

11 reds were in action this weekend with only two missing out through injury. A further 3 were not involved despite being fit for selection.

Lets start with the bad.

Marko Grujic and Connor Randall continue their recoveries from injuries and therefore were not fit for selection.

Shamal George was again an unused sub for Tranmere, he must have his own personal spot on the bench by now.

Arroyo was not selected for Gents match day squad although it turned out to be a blessing in disguise and Ben Woodburn now can't even make the bench for Sheffield United, a loan move that once looked so promising is now turning into a bit of a disaster.

Back to Gent and the fortunes of Awoniyi who did make the match day squad.
Awoniyi started up top as Gent took on league leaders Genk. It was a performance to forget as the hosts lost 5-1! Awoniyi being subbed after 55 minutes. Things are not quite clicking for the young man yet this season.

After staring for Rangers in their Mid Week Europa League victory Ryan Kent continued his good form with a MOTM display as Rangers took on the leaders of the SPL Hearts.
Rangers took an early lead and dominated throughout eventually winning the match 3-1.
Ryan Kent capped his performance with a goal finishing off a well worked free kick routine.
Ejaria also featured in both Rangers victories dominating the midfield. He played the full 90 in the Europa but was subbed after 70 at the weekend.

Karius had a week to forget as he made another high profile error on the European stage.
A cross from the right that should of been a routine catch slipped through his fingers and into the back of the net. Besiktas went on to lose the game 2-0.
At the weekend he was better but it was anxious display as Besiktas drew 2-2 with Konyaspor.

Allan made his second start for Eintracht at the weekend but it was not as memorable as his first.
Struggling to make an impact on the game and on a booking Allan was hooked at half time in a tactically switch. Eintracht went on to beat Hoffenheim 2-1.

Ojo currently finds himself in the role of impact sub and that continued this weekend. Ojo came on late in the game as Reims drew 0-0 with Nimes on Sunday.

Danny Ings didn't have the greatest game as Southampton lost 3-0 to Chelsea at the weekend. It was a lively performance from the Liverpool loanee but he should of had a brace missing two easy chances throughout the 90 minutes. The first came at 0-0 somehow spooning the ball over the bar from 4 yards!
Danny Ings is nothing if not resilient and I am sure he will be back to best in no time.

Harry Wilson came off the bench as Derby drew 1-1 with QPR on Saturday.

Adam Bogdan continues to impress in Scotland as he kept his fourth successive clean sheet for Hibs as they beat Hamilton 6-0 on Sunday, albeit he had very little to do.

Doncaster lost 4-0 to Fleetwood at the weekend despite the best efforts of Herbie Kane.
Kane picked up the Doncaster fans MOTM award for his efforts.

Corey Whelan played the full 90 as Crewe lost 1-0 to League leaders Lincoln.

And that red fans, is your lot.

5.) 10 Oct 2018 16:02:32
Cheers Cara, always an interesting read. Glad Kent's loan to rangers is going well, good lad. I'd love if either him or Wilson played a part next year, even as a squad player (though it doesn't look likely at the minute) .

Sad to hear Woodburn's loan isn't going well. If it continues to go the way its gone do any of the Ed's think he'll be recalled?

6.) 10 Oct 2018 17:55:00
Wilson and Kent are the next two to break into the first team. Two brilliant wingers.

7.) 10 Oct 2018 18:00:07
Legend carry mate, cheers.

8.) 10 Oct 2018 18:52:22
Legend carra. Some players are confidence players and maybe this explains Woodburn poor loan form. It must be hard for these, let's be honest, children. Going to a strange city, with team mates you don't know and may even resent you for being from a big club like Liverpool. There may be another couple of AMs trying to stake a claim or kick start a career.

I mean, we know how good woody is, I'd have him over any Sheffield United player. I can't help thinking maybe rangers would have been a better loan, with stevie g to look out for him. Look at the two boys shining in the Scottish prem. But you never know in football. Utd get an injury and Ben gets his shot.

Also, FAIR PLAY ADAM BOGDAN! Sometimes a figure of ridicule, the lad is showing he does have some real talent. 4 consecutive clean sheets is no mean feat.

23carragold

{Ed001's Note - even if you are injured you should still go along and cheer on my team to victory.....

As for the rest, cheers mate, just thinking it might help some of these on here looking to get into it. I mean they can write articles for us for free to establish themselves, but the idea is it is just to give them somewhere to show they have published work when they apply for paid work later.}

It is Ed! Best site around!

But I’m not going to turn down a bit of extra pocket change the wife need more money to spend aimlessly 🙂.

23carragold

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate, I am just glad to see you are doing well. You have been doing us a favour on here and I am glad you are getting the rewards for it now. Actually, if you don't mind and have a chance to do so, would it be possible for you to write an article explaining how others could go about getting paid writing gigs? I was thinking there are a lot of people on here who say they want to do it, but I would understand if you don't have the time or don't want to. It was just a thought as so many ask me and I honestly don't have a clue as I only write for here and have never even tried to get other gigs. Or even just a tip or two would be helpful. I don't think it is still possible to do what we did here any more, as search engines now have so many of their results 'sponsored' it is difficult to just build a following for your own site without spending money on advertising. We have never had an advertising budget to advertise, so we had to rely on word of mouth and getting ranked highly on search engines. So I am not sure any advice I have for them would still be relevant!}

If you are wondering why it looks a bit more article like nowadays it’s because I write for a couple sites (don’t worry Ed’s I won’t promote a rival 🙂 )
I do the weekly loan write up and so copy what I have wrote already as opposed to writing it twice.

Every game is winnable and we have shown we can beat any team on our day. However each game should be treated as a Cup final and I am looking no further than Southampton.

One game at a time, asses the result, then move on to the next one.
