Hi Eds,

I have a question about Ojo.
What are the clubs plans for him this summer?
His loan to Fulham has not been particularly successful, in large due to injuries. However he also missed most of the season before due to injuries as well.

I imagine an ineffective two year spell has knocked him down the pecking order at the club, so my question is 'Do the club plan to sell him in the summer? or will he get another season to try and salvage his position at the club? '

Thanks.

23carragold

{Ed001's Note - it is too early yet mate. Summer is a long way off and he still has time to change things.}

1.) 22 Feb 2018 11:42:57
I think this is the issue with the uk in youth,

You get to 19 and if you aren’t scoring every week everyone claims you won’t make it.

I think the pressure of this doesn’t help the system, you look at European equivalents and some players don’t break through till 22/ 23.

He is still very young in the grand scheme of things and I’m hoping that Klopp is instilling a better image for players to relax and just enjoy their football.

A prime example is Woodburn, came onto the scene out of no where and now he has barely played does that mean he isn’t good enough, no bloody way! He’s 18 just let him keep enjoying it keep working hard and don’t worry about whether you are making the team or not.

2.) 22 Feb 2018 11:52:19
Thanks Ed.

I hope I am wrong but I fear he is another young player with potential that picked up injuries at the wrong time.

3.) 22 Feb 2018 12:58:13
I hope he can crack on between now and summer and show his worth because this lad has potential, real potential. I've followed him for quite a while now and was a bit gutted he went out on loan but at the same time was hoping it'd help him more. I now fear his time with us is about to come to an end, fingers crossed this isn't the case and luck is on his side a little more. I think the last time I was as excited about one of our youngsters was Suso, we have some great other youngsters of course but them 2 stood out for me.

4.) 22 Feb 2018 14:12:28
I like Ojo think he can be great, injuries are a bit too frequent however.

Good afternoon redmen,

I hope all is well and that you all have your Seville shirts on ready for tonights game.

Sorry its a bit late in the week but here's the loan update.

Anderson Arroyo made a second successive start and completed his first full game for Real Mallorca B in a 1-1 draw against Santanyi.

Markovic was not in the matchday squad as Anderlecht lost 1-0 to St Truiden.

Wilson played for Hull against Chelsea at the weekend in the fa cup.
Wilson was lively and won a penalty before getting subbed off injured just after half time. Hull went on to lose 4-0.
Wilson was not in the squad last night as Hull lost 3-1 to Boro in the league.

Jon Flannaghan was left out of the bolton matchday squad.

Ejaria picked up an injury which ruled him out of Sunderlands game away to Bolton. Bolton won the game 1-0

Sturridge missed out through injury as West Brom lost to Southampton in the FA Cup.

Awoniyi picked up another assist (his 6th of the season) as REM battled hard and scored late in a 2-2 draw with Waasland.
Awoniyi also has 7 goals this season with this being his most productive on loan so far.

Allan did not feature as Apollon won 5-1 at the weekend, keeping the pressure up in the title race.

Origi played the full 90 as Wolfsburg hosted the Budesliga juggernaut Bayern Munich.
Wolfsburg took the lead but could not hold on eventually losing 2-1 due to a 91st minute penalty.

Chirivella played the full 90 as Willem lost 2-1 to ADO.
Willem still sit just above the drop zone.

Randall was an unused sub as Hearts drew 1-1 with Ross County.

Ojo was not in the squad as Fulham beat Villa 2-0.

Keita played for an hour and had a poor showing as RBL lost to Frankfurt.

Corey Whelan played at RB as Yeovil lost 4-1 to Stevenage. A poor result but Corey appears to of taken well to life at Yeovil so far.

Virtue had a 3 minute run out for Notts county as they lost 1-0 to Cambridge.

Bristol City, the Liverpool of the Championship.
Last week they were 3-0 up to Sunderland before throwing it away, this week it was Leeds turn.
Finding themselves 2-0 up after 16 minutes Bristol would fall apart with 20 minutes left and eventually draw 2-2.
Kent played the full 90.

Grujic has been playing in the holding role for Cardiff and reports are he has been impressive. The lad certainly has the size to dominate in there.
Cardiff hosted Boro at the weekend and won the game 1-0.
Cardiff now find themselves in the automatic promotion places.

And that is your lot Redmen.

cheers carra mate.

2.) 21 Feb 2018 13:46:51
superb stuff carra mate, maybe to save time you could tell us when sturridge is fit! im that used to him being injured its not news anymore.

3.) 21 Feb 2018 17:13:48
When did Markovic move to Anderlecht?

4.) 21 Feb 2018 17:54:23
Chelsea fan but Wilson was impressive against us, only player who wasn't star struck. Hull needed to pass to him more.

5.) 21 Feb 2018 23:38:35
Seems a lot of lads aren't getting much time :/.

6.) 22 Feb 2018 17:49:43

Hi Reds,

To the people worried stating reports that Coutinho has agreed a contract etc with Barca, ignore it. These are the same papers that stated several thousand times that Keita had signed!

I personally cannot see Coutinho leaving this summer. We are back in the Champions League and I am sure Klopp and the board are in agreement that we will not sell our best players, for this summer at least.
I cannot see Coutinho forcing the issue, he has respect for the club and the fans, he is not that type of person.

If you ignore all other reports and just listen to the eds the summer is a lot less painful.

Ed2 has said at least for now, he expects Coutinho to be here at least another season.

He stated a long time ago that Robertson was our most likely left back.

He has stated that Keita is not for sale.

He has stated that Can is considering his options. (ed is it feasible that we may keep Can even if he does not sign a new contract and let him see out his last 12 months? )

He has stated we have not gone back in for VVD after what happened. So unless they approach us, then this deal is off the table for now.

@ED2 what is the situation with the Ox now? all seems to of gone quiet on that front?

23carragold

1.) 26 Jul 2017 01:21:23
I think I have read that wenger wants him to stay but Chelsea and man city are also keen on him.

2.) 26 Jul 2017 02:30:27
VVD and NB agreed terms earlier, see what this brought us in the transfer market.

3.) 26 Jul 2017 03:26:34
We won't let can's contract run down he is not an old man he is 23? Reported 34 mil seems cheap compared to other transfers this year. I hope he stays.

As for coutinio, you are right he has respect for us and that respect is returned. He's a good guy. That is exactly why we can't stand in the way of his dream move. If he stays I want it to be because he wants to. Not a prisoner. If he gives us another year as his choice I'll be chuffed. If he stays forever he would become an field legend. Stay Phil, we will win this year. Need can too.

4.) 26 Jul 2017 08:47:16
Tapping up then, shock horror, a club doing what we have been crucified for, as i have said before it's now part of football, Barcelona clearly using neymar as a mouthpiece, meeting with the player, will we get mardy now and report Barcelona for turning coutinhos head, no, we man up, if you don't wanna sell a player don't! Take a leaf outta Leipzigs book!

5.) 26 Jul 2017 09:17:22
It's all set up around our CL playoff. If we win I think Couts stays, if we lose ( god forbid) I can see him asking to be let go. As stated by others, he has become world class at LFC, and will want to play in world class competition (with his best mate) . Truth is we need to win that playoff to keep our best players, and qualify regularly ongoing.

6.) 26 Jul 2017 10:08:31
Manalah, if Couts plays in our CL playoff, he might as well stay at LFC cos he will be cup-tied (not sure if the rules have changed) .

7.) 26 Jul 2017 10:57:13
did someone just say £34m for Can? I like him asa a player but if he's still behind Henderson in the pecking order then that's a cracking price for us!

8.) 26 Jul 2017 12:28:56
Coutinho's gone. Jesus what does it take for people to see through the FSG business model.

9.) 26 Jul 2017 16:06:52
The owners have categorically said that they won't sell Couts under any circumstances if they do sell him then I will unfortunately have to concede that Ozone was right about them all along . I hope that for the sake of our club that Ozone is wrong. We should NEVER sell our best players unless they put in a transfer request and in this circumstance if we do it should be on our terms for an amount that would allow us to afford a similar or better player. I hope that Ozone never gets to say " I told you so "

10.) 26 Jul 2017 16:48:50
Ozone mate, just like to clarify that my post is not an attack on you, actually I admire that you are consistent in your convictions and that you remain steadfast in your beliefs unlike the bipolar nature of some posters . In this instance however I pray that you are wrong . As unpopular as your views are sometimes I gauge that you as passionate about LFC . I hope that ultimately we all can celebrate the success of our team together regardless. YNWA.

11.) 26 Jul 2017 16:13:42
I hope we steer well clear of Ox, we don't need another winger, he's not a centre midfielder, his agent is Aidy Ward and he will not improve our starting 11, he's very expensive squad filler.

12.) 26 Jul 2017 19:14:55
Not so B Scouse, direct quote from UEFA. com

"However, a player can play for one club in the first, second and third qualifying round, and/ or the play-offs, of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, and then represent another club from the group stage of either competition. "

I hope I'm wrong, but I think CL proper will see an end to these issues one way or another.

13.) 26 Jul 2017 19:51:51
Thanks for the clarification, Manalah.

14.) 26 Jul 2017 23:22:59
No problem B Scouse, so many regulations we all have to help each other out to stay on top. ✊️.

15.) 27 Jul 2017 10:51:14
Ozone, if Coutinho leaves then you and Waro has been right all along and it will NOT pass this time. FSG better get ready.

06 Dec 2016 10:21:29
Morning Redmen,

Well that was an eventful weekend!
As disappointing as it is, let's try not to go OTT, we are 3rd in the league, went unbeaten in 15. And deserved to win the game! I always say I would rather lose a game we deserve to win then to just get battered. The players will be frustrated and hopefully Klopp will make them learn from this and be stronger for it.

Anyways, enough of my rambling, heres the weekend loan update

Awoniyi appears to of lost his place in the NEC starting 11 as for the 3rd week in a row he starts on the bench.
Awoniyi was introduced to the game in the 80th min with his team losing 1-0 to Hercules. His appearance did not have the desired effect as it became 2-0 just 1 minute later.

Flannaghan made his 2nd start in a row for Burnley but Opta stats say his showing wasn't to impressive.
Burnley lost 2-0 to Stoke as their woeful away form continues.

Hertha Berlin won a thriller away to Wolfsburg winning 3-2 thanks to a 90th Minute Pen.
Allan entered the game in the 80th min when the game was 2-2.

Hudderfields freefall down the Championship table continues following a 1-1 draw with Blackburn. Danny Ward played the full 90.

Ryan Fulton had a bad bad day at the office as Chesterfield lost 5-0 to Wycombe Wanderers.

Wisdom came into the starting 11 last week, they lost, and so this week he finds himself back on the bench.
He watched on from his favourite spot as Salzburg won 4-1.

Sporting Lisbon Moved into second following a 2-0 win over Vitoria.
Markovic got himself a nice 3minute run out at the end

And there's your lot redmen :)

1.) 06 Dec 2016 11:43:26
Wat a way to describe Wisdom, that's harsh.

2.) 06 Dec 2016 15:03:47
Thanks Carra.

3.) 06 Dec 2016 20:36:54
Thanks carra Lee not harsh at all did you not see him at carrow rd last season!?

4.) 06 Dec 2016 23:13:58
Cheers Carra 😘.

5.) 07 Dec 2016 23:10:09
Thanks for the update.
Any news on Jack Dunn at Morecambe?

I had high hopes for him I hope he can prove me right.

6.) 08 Dec 2016 12:58:08
Hi Dermot,

Jack Dunns loan deal at Morecombe has ended. He is back at Anfield.

7.) 08 Dec 2016 19:12:39
Tks for that.
I was unaware the loan had finished.
It seems to be crunch time for the lad now.
He scored one of the finest goals I've ever seen a few years back and thought what a prospect.
But a series of injuries have derailed his development.
Best of luck to him though.

8.) 11 Dec 2016 14:24:56
What's happened to Harry Wilson. Thought he was highly regarded.

{Ed001's Note - he is playing for the U23s.}

08 Nov 2016 08:07:28
Morning redmen,

Sorry you didn't get a loan update last week. I typed it out on my phone but for whatever reason it didn't send.

Great win Sunday! We absolutely steamrolled Watford, who prior to Sunday have a good defensive record this season.

Ron, I am a believer 😎

NEC nejmegan find themselves out of the drop zone entering the international break following a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Groningen.
Awoniyi played the full 90.

Jon flannaghan made his first premier league start and played the full 90 as Burnley beat palace 3-2 in an entertaining game.
Flanno put in a solid shift as zaha tore the other full back to pieces

Ryan Kent played for 75 minutes as Barnsley drew 0-0 with burton.

Hertha Berlin sit 4th in the bundesliga following a 3-0 win at the weekend. Allan came on for the final half hour.

Danny ward played the full 90 as Huddersfields stuttering form continues drawing 1-1 with Birmingham.
There is now daylight between huddersfield and the top two.

Bogdan and Wigan had a weekend to forget as they lost 3-0 to reading.

Wisdom sat in his favourite seat as Salzburg won 2-1.

Markovic was not in the sporting squad as sporting won 3-0.

All other players on loan featured for English teams in the fa cup. My app unfortunately will only give me the final scores so I cannot tell u who did or didn't play.

So there's your lot 😊.

23carragold

1.) 08 Nov 2016 08:26:31
Cheers Carra, glad to hear Flanno got a game finally!

2.) 08 Nov 2016 09:47:46
Thanks Carra, flanno didn't look to bad against a team that has a lot of wing play, glad for him.

3.) 08 Nov 2016 11:38:59
But I thought someone on here asked at the start of the season that you shouldn't bother about Bogdan. Lol
He is so not coming back I reckon.

4.) 08 Nov 2016 15:29:17
Wisdom did play well mid week against Nice in a 2-0 win for the full 90.

5.) 08 Nov 2016 19:21:48
Cheers Carra, I missed your update last week but saw your post to ed001 about your phone.
Great football at the weekend, we could have done without these international breaks, we've found a great rhythm recently.
Good work mate 😉.

6.) 08 Nov 2016 19:44:40
The only good thing about the break is I have the day off work to take my son to the game. But your right, I never look to the first match after the break. The squad always seems rusty.

I actually managed to catch some of the Cardiff game this weekend and I have to say I was disappointed with Grujic. He wasn't bad as such, but if he was being deployed in a deep lying you could have fooled me. He was all over the shop, showing talent aplenty but there was an obvious hole in the line where he wasn't showing the discipline he needed to and leaving Cardiff exposed.

A better team in the division (or worse support from his Cardiff colleagues) who have shown him up as very exposed very quickly. He looks a talented guy who will definitely play top league football, but he's got to be using his head more and doing the job he's given as a priority if he wants to work his way into Klopp's team.

4.) 13 Feb 2018 22:15:15
Much appreciated Carra. thanks.

Lfc, converting attackong midfielders into defensive midfielders and suffering for it since ages ago.

11 Feb 2018 08:08:51
Morning Ed2,

A question for you on the European break away league.

What is the likely timescale of this happening, if there is one?
Is it likely to happen within say the next 10 years? Or sooner?

Sorry if you answered this or similar already, I had a look but couldn't see that you had.

Thanks a bunch

Carra.

23carragold

{Ed002's Note - Timing wise, two very prominent clubs wanted it to happen as soon as possible (2018 was their plan in 2015 – obviously not a chance) and they had the support of a third club - but most are looking at 2022 to 2025 being a good option. A few clubs are looking at 2025 to 2028 and I suspect that could end up as the reality.}

1.) 11 Feb 2018 09:37:20
Thanks Ed,

Your reply as always very much appreciated.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 11 Feb 2018 10:17:14
STANLEY VICTOR COLLYMORE spewing rubbish about the reds.
Would this be the STANLEY VICTOR COLLYMORE who played in a team with
NEIL RUDDOCK and PHILL KEBABB as centre-halves and one DAVID JAMES throwing the ball in the net. AHHH it was so much better in your day STANLEY VICTOR winning all those trophies. not.

3.) 11 Feb 2018 10:36:02
"You wildly underestimate how popular it will be"

This was part of a reponse you gave to Mikey1985 in an earlier thread.

When you say how popular it will be, do you mean amongst fans or is this just commercially from your point of view. I appreciate that you say that this is just natural progression but i would think most fans would not want to see their Premier League or La Liga etc ripped up and not play teams they have played for decades, very succesfully at that.

So is this just a case of footballing big wigs (owners etc) doing what the want and not giving two hoots about what fans think is a good idea? Has anyone even asked the fans? I know you say that you get to watch Juventus, Madrid etc every other week but i would rather watch the more British teams. Personally i think getting to play the cream of European teams 3/ 4 times a season is perfect and keeps it exciting for the fans so to speak.

Like i have said, maybe the fans are at the bottom of the pile, "who cares what they think? " Might be the answer! I can see it being a massive turn off for fans and tv fans alike. I think the fans want their "grass roots" football, such as the Wba, West Ham games and i would guess it would be the same in Italy, Germany and Spain etc.

{Ed002's Note - Only two English sides have made the commitment and it is likely the third club involved will as well. So you can happily carry on in a similar manner to now watching "British" teams (I assume you meant English) - but there will be less money for the remaining sides. But eventually, regardless of all of this, the English game needs a massive shake up as there are too many professional sides and it cannot be sustained. English clubs don't get to play the elite of European football three or four times a season - only those that qualify for the Champions League have that opportunity and they also have to mix it with the Tromso's and Hadjuk Split's. The plan is that about 16 teams will end up in a league and will play each other side twice a season. The trade off is that they will break away from their domestic leagues. And plenty fans have been spoken to about this over the years but their view is not a driver for anything (the same as now in fact).)

4.) 11 Feb 2018 13:30:15
Interesting that some people don’t want a European breakaway league as it will be to the detriment of the EPL.

I assume that those who would favour the English set up staying as it and having an elite top-flight weren’t around when exactly the same arguments were banded about over discussion over the EPL- which then creamed off broadcasting rights and left the rest of the English game to suffer.

Football moves with the times. Other than major exceptions (Leicester being one) many European leagues have the same teams winning them or on co tension year-on-year.
The rest of the top flight teams are in essence playing for revenue off the back of their finishing position.
If the major clubs with most sending power in each top flight were removed- and income from broadcasting shared more equally between the rest - then you would probably see more competitive domestic leagues.

Below this, as the Ed’s have suggested, football is restructured then it’s good for the game. More competitive, more regionalised- and a Pan-European League above that.

Corey Whelan has started life well at Yeovil.

Last night he made his debut against Fleetwood in the EFL Trophy quarter final.

Yeovil won 3-2 with a last minute winner to reach the semis with Corey scoring Yeovil's second.

Good Afternoon Redmen,

Lots of activity from the reds over the last few days of the window means we have nice long list of players on loan :)

Lazar Markovic (Remember him) completed a loan move to Champions League chasing Anderlecht who drew 2-2 with KV Mecchelen on Sunday.
Markovic was not in the squad.

Another player to get a loan late in the window was Harry Wilson but not before he signed a new deal with the reds if I remember correctly?
Wilson has been scoring goals for fun for the u23 and hopefully he will carry this form into the championship where he has joined relegation threatened Hull.
It was not the ideal start for Wilson however as despite a late sub appearance he was unable to prevent Hull losing 2-1 away to Preston.

A former cult hero but now destined to leave the club Jon Flannaghan moved to Bolton on loan on the last day of the window. Another relegation threatened club.
Jon was on the bench Sunday as Bolton beat Bristol 1-0.

Ejaria found himself loaned to Sunderland late in the window and thrown straight into action as Sunderland desperately fight relegation!
He started in a 3 man midfield alongside the talented Lee Catermole. but could not help Sunderland avoid defeat losing 2-0 to Ipswich.

A player we all want to see do well is Danny Sturridge who found himself loaned to West Brom late in the window.
Sturridge started for West Brom at the weekend but was subbed off afer the hour mark for a pretty subdued performance as West Brom lost 3-2 at home to Saints.

Awoniyi came off the subs bench as REM lost 1-0 at home to GENK.
REM sit comfortably 10 points above the drop but 11 points below European spots. The true definition of midtable mediocracy.

Apollon and Allan had the dream start in their top of the table clash with APOEL taking the lead after 20 minutes, however in the space of a crazy 15 minute spell in the second half they conceded twice and got a red card eventually losing 2-1.
They now sit 2nd 2 points behind their rivals with 4 games left to play.

Origi started and scored the opener as Wolfsburg faced Stuttgart at home.
Unfortunately Stuttgart equalised after and hour with the game finishing 1-1.
As things stand Wolfsburg are only 4 points above the drop.

Chirivella played for 70 minutes as Willem II lost 1-0 to bootom of the table Sparta, the goal coming from the fantastically named Fred Friday.
The result was not ideal for Willem as they now sit just 1 point above the drop zone.

Connor Randall played for 45 but got subbed at half time due to a slight knock as Hearts beat St Johnstone 1-0.

Ojo again sat out through injury as Fulham beat Nottingham Forest 2-0.

Naby Keita got an assist and scored an 8.2 on Opta stats as RBL won 1-0 away to B M'Gladbach.
The win sees RBL move to 3rd 1 point above Schalke in 5th. The Bundesliga is even closer then the prem with only 4 points separating 2nd and 8th!

Corey Whelan was an unused sub as Yeovil beat Cambridge 2-0.

Virute did not make the squad as Notts County beat Crewe 4-1.

Ryan Kent played the full 90 as promotion chasing Bristol suffered a shock defeat to Bolton. His stats for the game suggest his was the worst player on the pitch scoring a lousy 5.2 on Opta.

Grujic seems to of settled into life well at Cardiff and has been an ever present in their midfield since his move.
Grujic played for 80 mins at the weekend as Cardiff beat Leeds 4-1. He picked up a booking for his troubles.
Cardiff sit 4th in the league just 3 points and a game in hand behind Derby who hold the second automatic promotion spot.

And that's your lot Redmen.

"the talented Lee Catermole" - that really made me chuckle

Amazing review though Carra, nice one!

Excellent thanks carra.

02 Feb 2018 14:01:48
Well Redmen,

The votes are in.

Most of you agreed I should avoid the game, a few of you called me crazy, and MK called me a tit :)

Fate has decided for me anyway, it is my mothers birthday so I won't have a chance to watch the game.
I will avoid the score until the final whistle and if the reds win then I think we can all agree I have super powers

:)

23carragold

1.) 02 Feb 2018 16:03:42
The important question carra is what would you prefer - not watching any games so that the team keeps on winning, or us not winning the spurs game so you can get back to watching the team in the future?

2.) 02 Feb 2018 16:17:05
Id take me not seeing another game this season if it lead to us not being beaten! Hopefully we will reinforce the defensive side of our game over the summer and it will make more comfortable viewing next season anyway :)

3.) 02 Feb 2018 18:13:48
Carra it's a shame you're not going to be able to watch X another game this season ;)

4.) 03 Feb 2018 08:53:09

I hope I am wrong but I fear he is another young player with potential that picked up injuries at the wrong time.

Real Madrid want to sll though BRover is a key point. I doubt Navas would chose to leave otherwise.

Navas is certainly a step up on Mignolet and has a wealth of experience at the very top level. I would be happy to see him and Karius fight it out for the number 1 jersey if as ed2 says this is who we are after.

I planned ahead,

Taking mine to a spar for the weekend as a present so now tonight I can watch the game in peace.

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find Spar is a cheap cornershop chain.}
