Hi Ed2 hope you are well. In terms of a summary of potential ins and outs are we focusing on the following areas:
CB, RW, CDM

Can we reasonably expect Salah, Gomez, Matip, Thiago and Diaz to leave? And if so who are we targeting to replace them.

I can't see how we can replace Salahs goals/ assists especially as we seem to miss so many big chances.

How did we replace his goals when he was out…not this season but the previous seasons.

 1

03 May 2024 15:40:13
Previous seasons Mane Firmino, we did win games when Salah was off with Egypt and injury. I also like the look of some that are coming through, players like Doak, Danns, Clarke and a few others should be looked at. Slot has a good rep for bringing on younger players. Personally I'd look at LB and move on Tsimikas if possible.

 1

03 May 2024 20:11:38
We scored far more goals when he was out than when he has been back this season post January. It'll be the same as when every great player leaves - Fowler, Owen, Torres, Suarez, Couts and many more. We'll find a way because that's what LFC does. We'll be fine.

Hello Eds.

With Diaz possibly leaving, have Liverpool looked at any replacements for him?

And with Mario Hermoso having his contract up at the end of the season, would Liverpool look to him as a defensive reinforcement, along with another CB coming in with him?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have been looking at versatile forwards but they do already have Jota and Gakpo who are similar to Diaz. There will be more pressing priorities.

Hermoso is of no interest to Liverpool and heading elsewhere.}

03 May 2024 15:41:13
Doak looks good.

 2

03 May 2024 16:08:56
I’m not sure if Doak is ready. I think he needs a loan to get regular games and work on his end product.

He’s a long way off Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Salah.

 2

{Ed002's Note - Doak is a RW and will possibly stay to provide cover for whoever replaces Salah. Else a loan might well be a goof way to build up experience.

 3

03 May 2024 17:09:16
On what I seen of doak this season he well off it at min. will improve no doubt but he has fair bit to go imo. I'd send him on loan if possible.

 3

03 May 2024 20:51:13
Where did it say that Diaz is possibly leaving and if so, who says we are looking to offload him?

 0

03 May 2024 22:09:00
Who could even afford Diaz and at what price point.

 0

03 May 2024 22:13:36
Didn't doak do his ACL?

03 May 2024 10:22:24
Question for the Ed's but particularly Ed02 if it's ok.

Have Liverpool shown any interest in Bastoni (has a 24mil release clause apparently, and not signing a new deal)? An established left footed CB at a good age seems to fit our needs well. Any suggestion of interest from us?

Also Kimmich. Endo has been solid but is not the same level. Press rumours he is refusing to sign a new deal with Bayern also. Have Liverpool looked at him seriously?

And many thanks for I all EDs for your hard work here.

 0

{Ed002's Note - I am afraid you have been misinformed. Alessandro Bastoni (CB) New contract and staying. Interest from Chelsea has now moved on. A wildcard may be an offer from Manchester City or Manchester United but the player will look to stay. Liverpool has shown no interest and there is no cheap "release clause.

Joshua Kimmich (DM/RB) Bayern Munich may now make him available, a significant fee would be sought - well beyond what interested sides Barcelona or Manchester City would pay for a 28 year old on €400k per week although Manchester City may well look to find a solution that suits everybody. A wildcard option would be Manchester United or Arsenal. New coach will have a say at Bayern Munich. Liverpool have shown no interest.}

 5

03 May 2024 17:13:47
Kimmich is way too old and at £400’000 a week it’s a straight no. Plus the last 29 year old centre midfielder we got out of Munich was a busted flush.

 0

03 May 2024 20:51:58
Bastoni just like Barella, is not interested in leaving Inter at all.

 0

02 May 2024 01:22:17
Ed's, is Rashford as a replacement for Salah an option?

 10

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt it.}

 16

02 May 2024 10:06:06
I’d hope not. He’s awful.

 27

02 May 2024 10:16:39
Good lord! Absolutely not! 1) We're a team, not a group of individuals and b) Man Utd to Liverpool?

 22

02 May 2024 10:31:41
😂😂😂😂😂😂.

 16

02 May 2024 11:36:31
Haha that's funny.1, he no good n 2, we don't do business either way with each other.

 5

02 May 2024 12:25:50
Deary me.

 3

02 May 2024 14:24:31
Wow that ones up there with the bald question!

 12

02 May 2024 15:05:28
A replacement mardy arse?

 1

02 May 2024 18:35:34
Rashford bad attitude, shows up about 5-8 games a season. Lazy. I'm sure plenty of United fans wouldn't be too fazed to see him sold this summer. Garnacho way more effort, heart and passion.

 1

02 May 2024 18:56:29
Rash ford would be a good signing on a 6 month loan deal. The reserves need cover for Ben Doak whilst he recovers from his ACL. Koumas would still be first choice for sure, but at least they’d then have an impact sub.

 2

02 May 2024 20:50:26
God no.

 5

03 May 2024 01:32:31
Wow, just wow.

03 May 2024 06:37:23
Leek in disguise…Leek in disguiiiiiiisssseees…. stoonee aageee you’re Leek in disguise.

 4

03 May 2024 07:57:59
I actually had to go back and double check them posters name. I originally thought Leek up to his old tricks again.

 2

03 May 2024 14:02:35
It was just for banter, guys! Some excellent replies :) Apart from the Leek comments, that's just one step too far haha.

03 May 2024 14:59:04
Nice backtrack, Stoneage 😆.

03 May 2024 15:48:42

Is it true al qadashah and Bayern Munich have both made bids for van dijk? At 33 is now the time to move himln?

 1

{Ed002's Note - Virgil van Dijk (CB) I am told that van Dijk's agents have said that had approaches from both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Real Madrid see VvD as a low cost solution in terms of transfer fee but need to make space in the wage structure. Barcelona offer an option but will need to agree sales first. Bayern Munich also made a general enquiry, but no more than that. At this point in time it will be very general enquiries only and I doubt either club will move for him. Suggestion that Al Qadsiah, who are a fairly minor side in Saudi Arabia and play in the equivalent of the Championship, are interested in him may be true, but I really can't see any chance of a move there. I am not aware of the reported interest of Borussia Dortmund being true. I would think that Liverpool might look to perhaps a two year extension - else they could be forced to listen to offers rather than have his contract run down.}

 25

02 May 2024 11:16:14
Wow what a response and fascinating, tyvm.

 8

02 May 2024 18:39:31
I think the extension is the way to go. Still a top player on his day and he's had a great season. Move him on the end of next season soonest.

 7

02 May 2024 21:33:48
New deal. Easy decision.

 3

03 May 2024 20:53:39
Thanks, Ed. IMO, VVD may not even be looking to leave at this point.

Hi eds,

There has been some chat about players getting older and losing form (Salah, Virgil) - what do you think about Robbo? Looks a bit shot, and obviously has had some injuries recently.

Would you look to move him on and keep Kostas with Beck stepping up? Or is Kostas more likely to be sold with Beck becoming deputy? Or alternatively, both could get sold with Beck getting promoted and a new LB coming in, although I am not sure who Slot could bring in.

Cheers for the insight!

 2

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any proposed changes at LB. Previously the agent of Tsimkas said he was being forced out of the club to raise €20M or more. Since then it has been quiet and I am not aware of any approaches for him. I am not ware of approaches for or plans to sell Robertson.}

 10

02 May 2024 08:31:32
Robertson is not shot.

 12

02 May 2024 09:46:33
Might just be a case of him taking time to get back up to speed after his injury. The club will know the difference.

 4

02 May 2024 09:53:08
Robbo looked way off it (understandably) when he first came back from injury but has been getting back up to speed in the last couple of games.

He will be his old self again and ready to go after a full preseason.

 6

02 May 2024 12:15:21
I’d let tsimikas go but I’d keep Robbo.

 9

02 May 2024 17:13:38
I see Robbo as being a very strong candidate to be the next captain should VVD leave. At times he was the only one still battling this year when everyone was so down and playing so poorly. Isn't close to being finished, mentally or physically.

 2

02 May 2024 17:52:45
Agreed captain for me robbo or Trent (to spur him on) let vvd, Gomez, kostas, jones go and matip and Thiago free obviously. Bring in 2 centre backs a good holding midfielder in the mould of Fabinho, replace salah and if Diaz wants to go let him, but I’d personally keep Diaz. Even Jota could go but only because he’s picking up lots of injuries.

 0

02 May 2024 18:43:32
Absolutely have to keep Robbo. We could be losing Diaz, Salah and poss Nunez so we need to keep a core of players who know what it means to play for Liverpool. Plus Robbo still has plenty in the tank. Magico happy to keep Diaz but looking at how Slot plays I'm not sure he suits the mould.

Hi Ed2,

Is there any chance you could do a round up of centre backs which we have shown interest in/ scouted recently, who could be potential signings for the summer?

I think you did a RW one recently, but on searching I couldn't find one for defenders.

 2

{Ed002's Note - Something like this:
Tosin Adarabioyo (CB) Spurs interest may remain as they struggle to sign their preferred options and are still light at CB - although they may not guarantee a starting role. Free Agent in the summer and expect MIlan and Monaco to make an approach for discussions before then. Milan fear the departure of Fikayo Tomori with Monaco being light at CB and running the chance that Guillermo Maripan will move on. West Ham will also consider making the player an offer. Wildcard may be Liverpool or Manchester United. Fulham will look to a new contract which may win out - or just perhaps a move to Spurs.
Dean Huijsen (CB) On loan at Roma who will try to sign him. Being scouted by RBL, Liverpool, Newcastle, Frosinone and Borussia Dortmund. Will talk with Juventus and consider his options – perhaps Borussia Dortmund will be attractive.
Goncalo Inacio (CB) Watched by scouts from a number of PL sides, including Liverpool and Manchester United, with the latter declaring an interest. Sporting will not be keen to do business with Liverpool although the club could potentially pay his full Release Clause and force the situation if the player is interested. The other sides to declare an interest are Newcastle and PSG, but PSG have a plan over another player. Real Madrid offer a wildcard option. Sporting would rather not sell and are looking to a new contract and an increased release clause. Newcastle have begun talks with Sporting in order to be able to speak directly to the player and to understand if there is flexibility in the payment schedule – it seems most unlikely that will be successful. Arsenal interest would have departed with the signing of Timber. The player has also been offered to Chelsea by his agent when discussing another player, but they have preferred options for a long-term Silva replacement. The player is open to a move to Manchester United.
Piero Hincapie (CB) Interest of Nottingham Forest will go nowhere. Scouted and rejected by Spurs as not being ready for the Premier League, but he may well be now and they could well look again. Open to a move to Liverpool as they look for cover but his expectation is to be a starter and their interest is not as advanced as supporters think with no agreement reached for January. Milan and Roma have both sent scouts. If they sell in January there will be a significantly high expectation in terms of a fee. The club will look to hang on to the core of Tapsoba, Hincapie and Tah but I would not rule out a summer move.
Murillo (CB) The sharks are circling as Nottingham Forest look to shore the club up against further FFP charges and move players on. Liverpool and Chelsea have sent scouts but I understand both consider him physically short to meet their desires. Barcelona have also sent scouts as they see him as versatile enough to fit in a three with their revamped defence. Real Madrid and Manchester United offer wildcard options.
Perr Schuurs (CB) Interest gone.
Jean-Clair Todibo (CB) Interest gone.
Antonio Silva (CB) Benfica say that "many scouts" have been to watch the player - perhaps they are looking for someone to pay his €100M buy out clause - a move at that price seems unlikely but Bayern Munich, PSG and Manchester United are keen and he is first choice for Manchester United next summer but both PSG and Real Madrid should not be discounted. Juventus and Napoli would want a reduction in the asking price to make any move viable. Looked at by Spurs and Manchester City. For Liverpool perhaps a Konate replacement but very unlikely. Discussed with Chelsea during a conversation about another player and perhaps number two on their lengthy list of options but there is a part exchange option. I think Manchester United could get something completed.
Ousmane Diomande (CB) Joined in January 2023 and covered by the Cotonou Agreement. Sporting see him as a long-term partner for Inacio and do not wish to sell - rejecting an offer from Arsenal in the summer. Arsenal could look again but have other targets as well. Newcastle, Manchester City, Liverpool (via a third party) and Chelsea have sent scouts to watch him and Chelsea have declared an interest in him. Sporting will insist that his Buy Out Clause is paid in full. Newcastle or Chelsea seem best placed.
Bafode Diakite (RB/CB)) Scouted by Liverpool. Very versatile.
Leny Yoro (CB) Lille kiddie who already has PSG, Chelsea and Real Madrid declaring an interest. Manchester City and Manchester United have sent scouts and Manchester City may be keen to do something. May have been noticed by Liverpool when scouting another player against Nantes, but no declared interest at this time - regardless of reports saying they will pay €90M for him. Lille will resist a sale unless someone pays significantly over the odds for him. Chelsea has a preferred option but Real Madrid may push. Lille will ask for a player on loan as part of any deal with Cesare Casadei and Arda Guler mentioned. The player is keen on Real Madrid if he will get game time - else another year at Lille. Maybe not rule out PSG or Chelsea.
Ko Itakura (CB) The ex-Manchester City player was on the Kim replacement list for Napoli, so is well thought of. Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Spurs have sent scouts - and his agent has very strong ties to Spurs. Al Nassr will offer a solution.
Lloyd Kelly (CB) Free Agent interesting Spurs, Milan, Borussia Dortmund and West Ham. Wildcard may be Fulham, Newcastle or even Liverpool. Home Grown.
Maxence Lacroix (CB) Wolfsburg and Rennes failed to complete the exchange of Lacroix and Majer due to a minor sticking point over about €5M difference in valuation, meaning Wolfsburg needed to pay €25M and they wish to continue to balance the books and need to trim their squad so may be open to the sale of Lacroix. Prior interest of Chelsea and Leicester has gone. Interest of Liverpool and PSG remains but he would only likely be cover for either club.
David Hancko (CB) Only joined Feyenoord in 2002 and a clear not for sale was the response when Newcastle asked after him in 2023. I am not aware of any formal approach from Liverpool to Feyenoord but they were represented by scouts at games against PSV and Celtic in December. Agent has been offering him around with contact made with Chelsea (who have no interest), Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG - and likely others. When Slot moves to Liverpool the he might look to Hancko - but Feyenoord will point to the contract signed in February. He would be a van Dijk replacement. Don't rule out Napoli looking to him.
Kevin Mantilla (CB) Brighton, AEK Athens and Liverpool had scouts watching the youngster before he moved to Talleres from Santa Fe in the summer of 2023. The English clubs know he would never be home grown and would be unable to gain a Work Permit in England. Brighton have continued to scout the player will possibly look to place him at sister club Union Saint-Gilloise. Liverpool may maintain an interest still but it is difficult to see anything coming of it anytime soon.
Willian Pacho (CB) Eintracht Frankfurt have told Real Madrid the left footed CB is not for sale but they will accept €60M plus. Liverpool and Arsenal have sent scouts with Arsenal making a far lower offer and having it rejected.}

Excellent info as always. Many thanks.

Murillo or Hancko potentially are amongst the most achievable/ realistic LCBs I presume. Inacio would be the perfect VVD replacement but guess his price and our previous conduct makes that move unlikely.

 5

30 Apr 2024 12:44:40
Hancko and Inacio for me, sell virg and Gomez too.

 4

30 Apr 2024 16:26:47
Thanks eds2
Can I ask in your opinion who off that list who would be the best for us?

 2

{Ed002's Note - Hancko will make a good van Dijk replacement.}

 6

30 Apr 2024 17:18:21
Ed002 no guehi interest?

 2

{Ed002's Note - Ex Chelsea Academy so perhaps. But I am not aware of any approach. There have been discussions with other sides.}

 2

30 Apr 2024 19:45:25
Hancko and Inacio here too Magico, not they fussed about Guehi, he’s a bit short for a centre back.

 1

30 Apr 2024 22:09:24
Ed002 - with regards to Hancko would this be someone who could play next to Virgil or be happy to bide his time until Virgil is no longer performing, or would him signing in the summer mean the likely departure of him?

 0

{Ed002's Note - He would be an obvious replacement - he would not move to simply be cover.}

 1

01 May 2024 18:12:40
Surprised interest in Todibo has gone he looks good. I’d love Diomande.

 0

01 May 2024 21:46:51
I am just surprised out of favour Kim Min Jae is not on list.

 0

01 May 2024 23:30:49
Brilliant info, much appreciated.

 1

03 May 2024 20:55:23
Leek, Kim just moved to Bayern this season so he is going nowhere hence, not worth putting on any list a this time, IMO.
