Hi eds,

There has been some chat about players getting older and losing form (Salah, Virgil) - what do you think about Robbo? Looks a bit shot, and obviously has had some injuries recently.

Would you look to move him on and keep Kostas with Beck stepping up? Or is Kostas more likely to be sold with Beck becoming deputy? Or alternatively, both could get sold with Beck getting promoted and a new LB coming in, although I am not sure who Slot could bring in.

Cheers for the insight!

LFCAJF

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any proposed changes at LB. Previously the agent of Tsimkas said he was being forced out of the club to raise €20M or more. Since then it has been quiet and I am not aware of any approaches for him. I am not ware of approaches for or plans to sell Robertson.}

1.) 02 May 2024 08:31:32
Robertson is not shot.

2.) 02 May 2024 09:46:33
Might just be a case of him taking time to get back up to speed after his injury. The club will know the difference.

3.) 02 May 2024 09:53:08
Robbo looked way off it (understandably) when he first came back from injury but has been getting back up to speed in the last couple of games.

He will be his old self again and ready to go after a full preseason.

4.) 02 May 2024 12:15:21
I’d let tsimikas go but I’d keep Robbo.

5.) 02 May 2024 17:13:38
I see Robbo as being a very strong candidate to be the next captain should VVD leave. At times he was the only one still battling this year when everyone was so down and playing so poorly. Isn't close to being finished, mentally or physically.

6.) 02 May 2024 17:52:45
Agreed captain for me robbo or Trent (to spur him on) let vvd, Gomez, kostas, jones go and matip and Thiago free obviously. Bring in 2 centre backs a good holding midfielder in the mould of Fabinho, replace salah and if Diaz wants to go let him, but I’d personally keep Diaz. Even Jota could go but only because he’s picking up lots of injuries.

7.) 02 May 2024 18:43:32
Absolutely have to keep Robbo. We could be losing Diaz, Salah and poss Nunez so we need to keep a core of players who know what it means to play for Liverpool. Plus Robbo still has plenty in the tank. Magico happy to keep Diaz but looking at how Slot plays I'm not sure he suits the mould.

Hi ed,

If the usuals are still in charge of transfers, does that mean that the likes of Inacio and Sane are still the main targets?

Cheers.

LFCAJF

{Ed002's Note - Interest will remain but I rather doubt either will arrive.}

1.) 24 Apr 2024 16:01:26
Because they were mainly Klopp targets?

Do you know who is more-likely, is that impossible to call without the new manager?

{Ed002's Note - I have been through this already.}

2.) 24 Apr 2024 16:02:32
Will geertruida be an option ed? also wieffer and hancko be of interest to us? Geertruida seems like a good bet with endo too as slot likes 2 dms? got to admit im not best with tactics like u all eds are tho. but just suggested geertruida as he can play cb, dm and rb.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has never shown any interest in Geertruida or Wieffer. Hencko has been watched and would be a good van Dijk replacement.}

3.) 24 Apr 2024 16:44:36
Sane was always mentioned as a Salah replacement Ed seeing as he can play either side do you think he could replace Diaz.

{Ed002's Note - Jota and Gakpo could cover the LW if Diaz departs. There are a number of options to replace Salah.}

4.) 24 Apr 2024 17:42:41
Hopefully all interest in Sane dies off. Too old, poor attitude and has said on numerous occasions that he has no interest in playing for us. And quite honestly for what Bayern want for him we can get a lot better.

5.) 24 Apr 2024 18:00:32
If slot comes in I'd hope we get bakayoko in to replace Salah. Very young and raw with a impressive ga ratio. He's probably the best player in Dutch football right now and he's what 20/ 21? Surely a fee similar to what we paid for gakpo and offloading Salah makes sense.

6.) 24 Apr 2024 18:30:59
After last season's midfield makeover, to the value of close to 150m, one would imagine that this coming summer could be a low-key affair as far as transfers go, with Slot expected to develop the main squad and best youth players, of which there are a fair few.

With Matip, Thiago, Mo and Adrian likely to leave, that's a fair bit off the wage bill, so surely there is some money available, but I do not imagine it will be a big spend.

CB/ RW most likely incomings, aside from replacing Kelleher and Kostas, should they leave?

7.) 24 Apr 2024 22:09:08
Didn’t we bid £100m for Caicedo? Money will be made available if options present themselves. I hope ?.

Hi ed,

Any opinions on Kovac and his style of play? Curious after reading that his representatives have spoke with Liverpool.

Cheers.

LFCAJF

{Ed002's Note - Niko Kovac (C) Another coach who is currently available after being sacked by Wolfburg - but has a so-so record and he would be a surprising choice for Liverpool in my view - but I am told not to rule him out with his agents having spoken with the club.}

1.) 23 Apr 2024 10:06:34
Scrapping the absolute bottom of the sea bed. From Alonso to Kovac in the span of months.

2.) 23 Apr 2024 12:39:08
Honestly can’t believe we even spoke to him after three successive sackings and all the issues he has created with players. The fact that he is even in consideration to talk to is worrying if that’s the best we can look to (and we have spoken to his agents, that has been confirmed) . His application should have gone straight in to the bin.

Hi Ed002,

A lot of talk about managers and player management, but who would be your choice for LFC manager next season, and based on that, what tactics would you employ, and based on that, what transfer business would you do (including outs)?

Cheers; sorry for the long question - just always interested in your opinion and insight!

LFCAJF

{Ed002's Note - Arne Slot would be a good fit and is a very good coach and from the start he has looked a very good option.}

1.) 22 Apr 2024 17:20:54
I know it will never happen but would give Bielsa a one year deal. Love to see what he'd do with our younger players and seems to get the best out of Nunez.

2.) 22 Apr 2024 17:59:31
Purely twitter speculation based off him being in the crowd at our last game Ed002, but don’t suppose there is any chance of it being Mourinho?

{Ed002's Note - Always a chance but I rather doubt it.}

3.) 22 Apr 2024 20:30:38
I don’t think even Mourinho is so egotistical so as to not realise that he’d be as welcome as a fart in a crowded lift here. Surely even he gets we dislike him immensely. You don’t get to manage that lot at old toilet and turn up here for a pay day.

4.) 22 Apr 2024 18:05:04
Ed002 - grateful of any insight you can give as you’ve said since the get go regarding Slot being a good option. What would we be expecting in terms of tactical set up and is he very much focused on coaching rather than the whole set up with transfers etc. Ten Haag was the best thing to come out of the Dutch league not long back and it’s not exactly worked out for him at United so it’s a little worrying.

{Ed002's Note - Slot id perhaps not too dissimilar to Kloppp with the fast forward and press tactics. To me a good option, but we will see.}

5.) 23 Apr 2024 17:12:22
well Ed002: with the latest slot rumours, I am beginning to think you knew something was afoot way way before. Even when folks were busy unzipping for Amorim.

Hi eds,

Just a quick question regarding Slot: it seems he plays a 4-2-3-1, and so I was wondering how he may use some of our players?

For example, would you predict he uses Szob and Harvey behind the striker?

How does he use his widemen: wide as a traditional winger or more like midfielers besides the 10? I ask because I wonder about Salah and Diaz: if replaced, is it like-for-like, or more like creative midfielders beside the 10?

Cheers.

LFCAJF

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry, I haven't seen enough of his team to have an idea.}

1.) 26 Apr 2024 11:10:38
OP - few videos on YouTube mate. Probably best to run a search and have a watch, they’re pretty good.

2.) 26 Apr 2024 16:07:07
OP - have looked at some Feyenoord games on YouTube over the past couple of days

They were highlights only though

I’d say the system is very fluid -at times the 3 behind are very wide and at other times they are a bit narrower

I don’t think I saw any of the 3 though crossing from wide (that tended to be the FB) so I’m guessing they will be tucked in a bit more centrally

That requires technically gifted players so I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Gakpo one side and Szob the other.

Interesting read that, ed001.

And who would you bring in? Including manager?

Keen to hear your opinion.

LFCAJF

{Ed001's Note - manager I have no idea. There was only Alonso out there.

As for the defender, the ideal choice would be Bastoni but other than that it really depends on how the new man wants to play. I would probably look at Pavlovic though to be honest.

Kubo is the obvious choice on the right side of the attack, as he offers flexibility as well being able to play all over the front line.}
