Edd002 what's amorims personality like. Do you see him with your knowledge being able to manage big egos and make this step up?

MIZER

{Ed002's Note - Ruben Amorim (C) Manchester United may offer an option - another option will be Liverpool, but knows he was not first choice - but I think they will move for him with Alonso not interested and I think he would be a good choice and a good fit. Do not rule out Barcelona but Deco has a preferred option whilst the board want to persuade Xavi to stay or to move quicky for Amorim. If needs force the situation and given the likely link between the club and Sporting, Chelsea may start pushing having spoken with him before. Newcastle will offer a wildcard option and will pay the termination clause and the cost of terminating his staff but they will not be an attractive option.}

1.) 04 Apr 2024 01:49:17
Thanks Ed002, I didn’t expect Chelsea or Newcastle to be changing managers this summer.

2.) 04 Apr 2024 07:31:46
Morning eds2
Can a club pay the termination clause now or do they have to wait until the end of the season. ?

{Ed002's Note - He won't be moving before the end of the season.}

31 Mar 2024 22:04:28
Edd002 who are we looking at to replace salah this summer if he likely leaves?

MIZER

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

1.) 01 Apr 2024 10:47:21
Is the CB list that Liv looking at has change with the appointment of Richard Hughes Ed? Or is it still the same as few months ago?

{Ed002's Note - He doesn't start until June so it will remain the Klopp, Fallows, Hunter list.}

2.) 01 Apr 2024 11:40:53
Never heard of Yes before. Who does he play for?

3.) 01 Apr 2024 13:02:10
Reading back Leroy sane is liked, Pedro neto is possible.

Previous links have been Bowen (but very costly)

I like bryan mubemo ?.

4.) 01 Apr 2024 13:25:55
I'd go with Kudus.

5.) 01 Apr 2024 13:28:12
Does anyone know what a Liv is?

6.) 01 Apr 2024 14:18:41
Yes Terday
Good player!

7.) 01 Apr 2024 14:29:08
I would be very surprised if we continued our pursuit of Leroy Sane. I imagine he was a Klopp pick. Would be pretty strange to bring someone on his salary and at his age into Liverpool with the manager on the outer.

Likewise, Bowen would cost a fortune from West Ham and it's probably a couple of years too late now. There are two other left footers at West Ham that would be preferable in Kudus and Paqueta, though very unlikely.

We were linked with Johan Bakayoko last summer so I assume that interest remains and I assume Nico Williams is also on the list.

Michael Olise is probably going to leave Palace this summer. Sounds like Chelsea and City may have already put in the groundwork though.

Whether Moussa Diaby is gettable from Villa I am not sure, especially if they make Champions League.

Kubo (Real Sociedad), Pino (Villarael) and Soule (Juventus) are other names that may come up but I don't think I have seen us linked with them, nor do I know if they are feasible.

We will also have to decide what we want to do with Ben Doak and Kaide Gordon who both play right wing. Keiran Morrison who is the prospect that everyone in the academy is talking about at the moment is a left footed attacking midfielder that likes to play off the right.

At a guess it'll be between Bakayoko and Williams.

8.) 01 Apr 2024 15:21:17
Kubo has a €60m release clause FPF.

9.) 01 Apr 2024 17:14:03
Maybe if amorim gets the job it won't be a winger but more of a no.10 type player.

10.) 01 Apr 2024 23:49:56
Pedro Neto is quality but is quite injury prone and we have enough of them players . its Bowen for me .

11.) 02 Apr 2024 10:04:29
Bowen is too old (28 in December) and would cost too much (England international playing at West Ham on a very long contract, they’d want at least as much as they got for Rice) . Feel that one is two years too late.

Sane is over rated, too old (29 in January), would cost too much and he has said on multiple occasions he has no interest in joining us (that should be more than enough to bin off any interest in him) . I wouldn’t waste a five minute call to his agent let alone send scouts to watch him)

Neto is a bit injury prone and his output doesn’t suggest that he’s remotely capable of stepping up. He’s a spursy type player.

Kudus I can’t see happening, again dealing with West Ham automatically means it’s going to be ridiculously hard to negotiate as they will ask for stupid money. I wouldn’t bet on us signing Pacquetta either (neither would he in fairness) .

Johan Bakayoko isn’t exactly setting the world alight in a relatively weak league.

Yeremy Pino has been out virtually all season with a serious injury, that’s a hard pass.

Moussa Diaby feels like one we should have got when he was at Leverkusen, Villa will be asking for stupid money.

Nico Williams doesn’t really have the end product to justify the price.

Olise will end up at City, United or Chelsea.

I think we should have a look at Rafa Leao at Milan. He’s at a good age, he’s scoring and creating at a similar level to Salah when he joined us, he’s also that kind of player who is just under the level of being top class, but could get there with the right coaching and management, more than that. He’s also lightning quick and physically imposing too.

{Ed002's Note - Leao won't be joining Liverpool.}

12.) 02 Apr 2024 10:30:04
Would Joao Felix be a option?

Appreciate he currently plays LW for Barcelona but he is versatile and talented. Perhaps he could finally realize his full potential with Liverpool.

Suspect he could be available in the summer.

{Ed002's Note - No, he is not an option for Liverpool.

24 Mar 2024 19:19:57
Edd002 Evan ferguson, have Liverpool any interest atm or any other clubs? Big fan of the lad.

MIZER

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool but there is from elsewhere but largely dependent on clubs losing preferred options.}

1.) 25 Mar 2024 08:46:07
Everyone's waxing lyrical about this chap but I genuinely don't know what they are watching, because every time I watch Brighton he starts on the bench and has 6 goals in 35 appearances.

2.) 25 Mar 2024 08:59:51
Didn’t he score a hat trick at the start of the season that had some of the ‘less grounded’ on social media putting him in the £100m bracket?

3.) 25 Mar 2024 09:21:25
He's 19 and has all thr right attributes. He's going to be top drawer if he can avoid injuries.

4.) 25 Mar 2024 10:27:57
He's 19 and is playing in an average team that's constantly being chopped and changed by someone who, imo, is an average manager. Half his 36 appearances have been off the bench.

That being said, I suspect he won't end up as good as Nunez, so what's the point?

5.) 25 Mar 2024 11:30:20
Harry Kane wasn’t tearing up trees at 19 or 20 either and should’ve become the all time prem top scorer. As an isolated stat, 6 in 35 for a mid table team at 19 years old isn’t eye watering, but then isolated stats never give any context either.

6.) 25 Mar 2024 19:36:45
I think he is another player that I hear how good he is jet every time I see him he looks bang average like Timo Werner and Caicedo I believed the hype and hope we signed both and am so glad we didn’t.
I really hope we go nowhere near him I would rather have Danns in the squad rather than blowing £100+m on another vastly overrated player.

7.) 25 Mar 2024 23:43:41
@QV what’s Kane got to do with Ferguson?

On a separate note - “all time” started in August 1992 did it?

8.) 26 Mar 2024 11:21:15
West Derby Wanderer - He did say all time Prem, so yeah that did start in 1992. He didn't say all time top flight did he?

9.) 26 Mar 2024 11:23:05
Lack of pace could be a problem he is a bit of a lump who would rely on being in the right place at the right time and long distance shooting. Not Liverpool standard just yet but if he can master his movement and build up play ya never know. We currently have the second best striker in the world but a suitable understudy should be looked for. Gakpo is a midfielder end of.

10.) 26 Mar 2024 16:19:56
WDW, I mean sure, I was thinking of using the example of a young Gandhi, but then I thought using another striker may be more relevant.

I was pointing out that you don't have to look world class at 19 to become world class a few short years later. I don't think anyone predicted Kane was destined to become the player he has become and therefore, the relevance of Ferguson’s goal record now on what he may or may not become is virtually nil. It’s called a comparison.

As Gunn10 pointed out, I did say all time PREM top scorer so obviously although not 100 percent fool proof, id say its a long enough length of time with a large enough player pool to judge a player’s ability against.

01 Jan 2024 19:25:06
Ed002 is Thuram signing for us possible at all in January? Thanks.

MIZER

{Ed002's Note - I believe there is a chance but a very significant number of posters clearly don’t want him.}

1.) 02 Jan 2024 09:50:44
Ed002 I think he's fantastic and could be special for us. Thanks for the update. Hopefully the club go for him, I'd be delighted.

2.) 02 Jan 2024 09:58:56
I think he would flourish under Klopp.

3.) 02 Jan 2024 17:32:44
Thuram seems like a great player who has simply gone stale to many because his name has been in the news for the better part of a year. He would be an incredible addition for Liverpool, although I'm not sure I see the dire need.

4.) 03 Jan 2024 09:22:58
It's strange alright Ed002 why Liverpool 'supporters' wouldn't want Liverpool to sign one of their targets. Until he goes to City of course and then it'll be OMG How did we miss out on him? For shame!

{Ed002's Note - They turn easily on past, present and potential future players Jurgen.}

13 Aug 2023 14:57:46
Edd002 you mentioned that Liverpool have moved away from thuram? Why is that. I knew he wants the psg move but its not looking likely this summer and you'd said if the caicedo deal falls through Liverpool could look to him as an optio6as well as united. I'm just wondering why he's no longer looking a possible option? Thanks.

MIZER

{Ed002's Note - They thought him too expensive and it looks like he will bide his time in Nice, although there is now growing interest in him from elsewhere.}

1.) 13 Aug 2023 15:26:25
More expensive than the offer made for Caicedo ed002?

{Ed002's Note - No. You all need to step away from the money.}

2.) 13 Aug 2023 15:42:52
Manchester United are interested apparently.

3.) 13 Aug 2023 16:16:26
Some of these players that are deemed too expensive will go on to be world class, so how do you make that call?
Was Thuram was priced around 40m?

{Ed002's Note - A but higher.}

4.) 13 Aug 2023 18:21:24
I presume the payment structure needs to be considered when some players are deemed too expensive.

2 players may be 50 or 60m each. But one club may want the bulk of the 50m upfront whilst the other is happy to have it over a couple of years. Any clubs budget will vary depending on the cash they have on the initial outlay and it will then impact other signings.

5.) 14 Aug 2023 08:03:07
I’m sick and tired of all these clubs trying to over charge us for their players.

Hopefully we can sell Phillips for 170 mill we’re asking for and then use 3 mill of that to offer in instalment’s to the 18th choice Dm on our most wanted list.

Edd001 will you be doing a match review for the Derby?

MIZER

{Ed001's Note - yes.}

1.) 26 Apr 2024 07:42:25
If u have to watch that game again ed1 its not a review u will be doing its a weeks therapy somewhere!

{Ed001's Note - the issue is calming down enough to write it without it just being a string of swear words!}

2.) 26 Apr 2024 09:08:28
Looking forward to that Ed1. Assuming you’ll be majoring on persistence in poor tactics (inverted nonsense/ no width) and a general malaise building in the squad? Just my opinion, but the team have either become a reflection of Klopp’s loss of energy (stepping down announcement), or have just checked out after the FA cup loss and are now waiting for the next man at the helm?

{Ed001's Note - it will mostly be majoring on trying not to swear!}

3.) 26 Apr 2024 09:31:57
Don’t envy you Ed. Reliving nightmares is not fun.

29 Mar 2024 18:15:59
Don't understand the hate towards nagglesman. I really rate him and think he can be special. You grow and I'm sure he has from bayern. I think he would be brilliant for us and hope we pursue him over de serbi.

MIZER

1.) 29 Mar 2024 18:31:34
Agree, my feeling it will be him.

2.) 29 Mar 2024 18:46:26
I don't know a thing about him so will reserve judgment. Whoever signs deserves a chance from fans, unfortunately whoever it is will have a tough act to follow.

3.) 29 Mar 2024 18:46:41
I hope it's him. The other two are woeful choices and I'm not the happiest with who we've hired as sporting director and chief scout. Journey men are being appointed and we could set ourselves back decades again. Fsg got klopp right but not much else. The luck will run out if we don't get the right men in.

4.) 29 Mar 2024 18:58:37
Agree 100% Mizer, Nagglesman is a solid young coach who has managed at the highest level and contrary to what some people think was a success at Bayern only being sacked for ‘other reason’ which I think he will have learnt from. His style of play is not to dissimilar to ours and is endorsed by Klopp not that this a concrete reason to hire him.

For me the sporting coach is a risk who is untested and one which can pay high dividends or flop drastically and to be honest we don’t need that risk. Nag has managed a club with high expectations, playing to win titles and compete in the champions league, he has managed big players and largely done well.

Whilst I’m not 100% confident on Nag there is a lack of unproven managers or Klopp like appointments out there at present and I’m just glad that we are looking at options like him and not Southgate!

Another name being thrown about is de zerbi and tbh I don’t get it, completely different style of play, I’m not overly impressed by Brighton this season and I just don’t rate him that high…would quickly see him being compared to ETH but interested to hear other peoples opinion.

5.) 29 Mar 2024 19:04:06
"Fsg got klopp right but not much else. " Literally stopped reading after that waffle.

As for Naggelsmann, nobody hates him so miss me with that nonsense. We are allowed to agree and disagree with the choices we want as manager and just cos some of us (me included), do not want Nagglesmann here for valid tball management reasons does not mean we hate him.

I would ask you to provide actual cogent arguments to support why you and the rest rate him so highly BUT I did not see any of that in your comments. If your ide of rating him highly is, "Oh, he must have learned a lot from his time at Bayern" (something you hourself prolly can't back up with facts) or that it is all about hatred for him (as if we are impacted with whatever tha football Naggelsmann achieves in his life) then, you ain't convincing anyone. Just saying.

6.) 29 Mar 2024 19:08:26
And I like De Zerbi, lol! But I haven't said a word about him on the forum. From the looks of things, I would be torn to shreds.

7.) 29 Mar 2024 20:00:26
I dare say that if Alonso didn’t play for Liverpool then the clamour for him to be manager wouldn’t be half as much. Clearly his kids being Liverpool fans and his wife loving the city held no sway either. Seems to me he might be holding out for the RM job, maybe the kids have got those kits too ?‍♂️

Reality is the club have to pick a manager from somewhere. The Sporting manager, Nagelsmann or Zidane (don’t even know if he’s interested)

What I do know is that if they don’t get the manager right then literally nothing else matters. It took the club The King and Brendan Rodgers before they realised that.

8.) 29 Mar 2024 20:16:28
Give Gary O’Neil a go, passionate young English manager. Was a success managing the U23sfor a while…probed himself at Wolves after being treated badly at Bournemouth!

9.) 29 Mar 2024 20:21:22
Someone has to be the Fall Guy who follows Klopp ; the “Moyes” if you like.

Rather it was this guy than Xabi.

10.) 29 Mar 2024 21:06:47
I’m game for nagglesmann if he is open to joining us. I think the fact he will cost nothing will appeal to FSG too. I’m not sold on the sporting director, Just a feeling. A curve ball tho I wouldn’t mind milly coming back and jumping on the coaching staff. 3 big clubs possibly 4 if the mancs bullet eth looking for a manager is unheard of.

11.) 29 Mar 2024 21:17:07
Someone said on here that they get Rodgers vibes from Nagelsmaan and I can't help but agree. I think he is a talented and bold coach who seems to have disappeared somewhat up his backside but could still prove to be a top, top coach.
I really don't think De Zerbi is the answer and far too soon for Gary O’neil, though I have a lot of respect for his work so far.
I had hoped for Xabi but now will leave it in the capable hands of FSG as even if getting Klopp is the only thing they’ve done right (which it clearly isnt) that worked out pretty well for all concerned.

12.) 29 Mar 2024 21:24:58
The “hate” towards Nagglesman, although I wouldn’t call it hate. Is the fact the guy is arrogant as hell and a disruptive personality. He fell out with so many players at Bayern not to mention his pillow talking with his bit on the side. Which landed him in trouble as they spilled information on the clubs inner works seeing as they were a reporter. Is that really the profile of a Liverpool manager? I would rather we be in the news for our success than our manager.

13.) 29 Mar 2024 21:48:48
The man single handedly alienated the entire Bayern squad against him with his arrogance and bizarre antics with that journalist, not to mention his tactics which are best described as somewhere between Brendan Rodgers and Tim Sherwood. He failed at Munich and was booted. He’s not done much better with the Germany team, you can imagine how delighted the Bayern players must have been to see him again. The man is vain, unnecessarily arrogant (I would understand his arrogance if he had the medals to back it up, but he doesn’t), and those comments he made about us as a club stick in my craw. He has no business at our club.

14.) 29 Mar 2024 22:08:55
Hey @ViktorVaughan and @Alonso, now you see why some of these people who love Naggelsmann have offerred no actual points as to how he would fit LFC in terms of playing style and man management acumen. Could it be that there is actually NOT much to say about him on these fronts? I wonder.

15.) 29 Mar 2024 23:08:32
To be fair Oli, I have seen no valid points as to why JN wouldn't be the right choice apart from some apparent 'disrespect' he showed LFC, his going with the journo and the assumption that he is arrogant based on absolutely no merit whatsoever. Unless JN is a personal friend, statements like that have zero substance.
From a footballing management perspective, JN has a lot more stock in the bank than Alonso who, let's be honest, has 14 months or so of professional top level experience in a pretty dire league. No doubt Alonso has shown signs of being a top manager and could certainly reach that level, but let's not pretend he is suddenly some sort of footballing Messiah who would guarantee success at LFC. He would be just as much a gamble as any other appointment.

{Ed001's Note - Nagelsmann has a worse record in the same dire league as Alonso. Not sure you are putting up a good argument for him there.}

16.) 29 Mar 2024 23:30:57
I read kimmich said nagglesmann was one of the best coaches he had. If you do your homework he ( nagglesmann) was 1 point off top spot in league and had won his 8 champions league games before getting the sack. Neuer was one of the players who wanted him out because he’d sacked the goal keeping coach who btw was best man at his ( neuer’s wedding) . He has shouldered expectations at the biggest club in Germany, done well at rbl is that enough “actual points”?

17.) 30 Mar 2024 02:14:18
Oli, you accused others of making false arguments before, now you're making them yourself.

He plays attacking, pressing football out from the back. Unlike Klopp, he tends to change formation more frequently. He often played with a back 3 and wing-backs at Leipzig while he often played a 4-2-3-1 at Bayern. But he didn't always keep it the same often changing to a 4-2-2-2. Tactical flexibility is something that could be added to our current team which is a positive. He's innovative and is known to be open to using new technologies and data to help give his teams an edge.

From a man-management point of view, people on here lazily accuse him of not being able to manage big egos but the same said big egos seem to be fine with working under him as Germany manager. If they weren't, the DFB wouldn't have given him the job. He's developed many young players like Sule, Demirbay, Schulz and Gnabry at Hoffenheim, Olmo, Konate, Upamecano, Werner, Nkunku, Laimer, Mukiele, Sabitzer at Leipzig and Musiala at Bayern.

His league positions and record in the Champions League is, on the whole, very good.

18.) 30 Mar 2024 06:00:24
He’s also 37! That is still incredibly young and he was even younger when at Bayern. People can make mistakes early in their career whatever they’re perceived to be. The best can learn from them.

I know nothing of JN’s character (and truthly nobody on this site does), I’m a big fan of his style of football and think he was one of the more sensible choices.

19.) 30 Mar 2024 06:59:15
Ed, I wasn't trying to arguing JN's case as yo be honest, I will happily admit I don't have a good enough understanding of management tactics and not did I really follow his career. My point was more that most of the current arguments against are more just character assassination attempts more than anything.
Oli mentioned about how he'd got in at LFC and from the limited info I have read, I saw he was endorsed by Klopp a while ago which if anything, is pretty high praise from someone who does know what they're doing. I also can't work out this disrespect that VV keeps going on about?
Forgetting his journo incident Ed, from a purely tactical standpoint, as this is what I think we are discussing here, I'd be interested in your thoughts on how JN would fair with the current LFC squad?

{Ed001's Note - he is too fond of tinkering and it got messy at Bayern as the players were being asked to change set up to adapt to teams they could have just rolled over. He is a small club manager in his head, he needs to realise that at a bigger club you can go out there to beat them as you are, then adapt during a game if needed. Nagelsmann for me is not ready for the step up and it showed at Bayern when it all went to his head.}

20.) 30 Mar 2024 08:59:59
Didn’t Nagelsmann not win the Bundesliga with Bayern in his first season?.

{Ed001's Note - yes with Bayern he won the league, and your point is? Was that beating expectations? No.}

21.) 30 Mar 2024 09:26:01
@Babbity Rabbity and @Scouse, you have it wrong from jump so let me explain. Accusing others of hate cos they disagree with you, is NOT an argument, just so you know. Now on the contrary, you see all the arguments you made for Naggelsmann in your post, I can actually debate those cos those are actual valid arguments. That is NOT what @MIZER and the others were doing on this thread.

All MIZER said from the off was that he could not get the "hate" Naggelsmann was getting hence, my response was that saying we disgaree with him about Naggelsmann becoming our manager does not mean we hate him. THAT was my point. Do you understand the difference, now?

22.) 30 Mar 2024 09:46:54
@Stuie, I really don't care who Klopp endorses cos from the off when he was at Hoffenhiem, Naggelsmann's arrogance and dismissive attitude was there for all to see when we played them in the CL knockout stage in 17/ 18 to get into the group stage. It was palpable at the time and I was not the only one saying it at the time, either. Imean, I read that the guy literally told everyone he was off to Bayern weeks before the season was over with RBL. Seriously, who does that? An arrogant person, that's who.

Now I knew he played the high press/ front foot footie and all that but he just rubbed me the wrong way whenever he spoke. As for his time at Bayern, they weren't that good under him either and there was WAY too much baggage for me with the whole player rows, his relationship with a journo that was leaking stuff to the press and his arrogance shone even more with his lack of tactical ability to change things up when required. All this happened in the public eye, btw.

Sorry but me speaking the truth about what happened at the club under his watch is NOT character assasination so you have that logic backwards, bro. Hence, not arsed about who endorses him or what good things players say about him. Naggelsmann's attitide has always stunk for me and has way too much baggage.

So I will NOT apologize for not wanting a manager with an ego as big as Anfield with NO trophy clout to back it up, replacing a truly humble guy with NO bagage and a big bag of trophies like Klopp. Do you understand, now?

23.) 30 Mar 2024 11:24:45
Oli, what will you do if it is Naglesmann that gets the job? You've never struck me as someone who would not support a manager of the club while they're in place, but you've pretty strongly nailed your colours to the mast as far as JN goes.

I also don't think you're the type to say "I told you so" if it goes wrong, so just wondering how you react if he gets the job.

For what it's worth, I actually said I wanted Amorim over Alonso (if Alonso turns out as good as everyone thinks he will be, we can perhaps get him at a later date, but replacing klopp with 18 months of management behind you is HUGE pressure, and I wouldn't want him failing and then never coming back) . Amorim seems highly rated, has really turned around a Sporting team who were dire before he took the job, and if it goes tits up after a year or 2, THEN we'll go pinch Alonso from Real Madrid. :)

27 Mar 2024 14:11:16
Edd001 is trents knee problem anything to worry about long term? Was supposed to have been a knock and he's been out for an extended period with it. Some players are never the same with knee injuries.

MIZER

{Ed001's Note - not these types of knee problems.}

1.) 27 Mar 2024 18:34:54
Edd001 thanks.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

23 Mar 2024 15:39:35
Edd001 if real come in for trent this summer is he gone do you think? Think Bellingham there is a big pull for him aswell.

MIZER

{Ed001's Note - why would that be a big pull for him? What a bizarre suggestion.}

1.) 23 Mar 2024 15:57:45
Exactly, Ed. Not sure people understand this BUT just like not everyone wants to play or coach in the PL, NOT everyone wants to play for RM either. Just saying.

Now for me and regarding this whole "Trent to Madrid" nonsense, this has only become a thing since the "most reliable journo on the planet" Fabrizio Romano spoke on it. There were wsome noises here and there BUT nothing had really come out and we all have said and Ed, I think you mentioned it) that Trent would sign a new deal and all that.

Suddenly, Romano posts his stuff (never broke as much as a grape fruit as a journo), people jump all over it (cos our fan base are as reactionary as our rivals') and with Trent having not yet signed a new deal (as if that means he won't or may not), 2 and 2 is now 122 and Booom goes the dynamite. For me, this is just useless clickbait rubbish esp cos it's int'l break so nothing cooking in the news. As useless as Danny Mills saying Klopp is overrated just to drive clicks on Talksport and people are all over it like piranha all over a dangling a piece of meat. Just my opinion.

2.) 23 Mar 2024 16:58:14
Purely me guessing, I think trent will not sign anything until new manager is there and he has chat with him about where manager intends playing him. i think trent wants to move into midfield and really he is at the age where he probably needs to be moving there if he wants to get to top in that position. I think if new manager wants him to play midfield the contract will be signed no problem. If manager intends keeping him at rb I'm not so sure he stays. Again that's no info just me guessing.

3.) 23 Mar 2024 17:10:44
Nah Trent will stay regardless of where he gets played. It’s easier for him to get into team at rb.

4.) 23 Mar 2024 19:51:55
Arguably 3 of our best players are approaching the last 12 months of their contracts. 2 of the 3 are our current Captain and Vice Captain.

How does everyone think this is going to play out.

Will all 3 sign or will 1 or more be moved on.

Last season we lost Bobby, Ox and Naby to free transfers and will lose Thiago and Matip this summer but to lose one of these 3 on a free would be a huge financial hit.

5.) 23 Mar 2024 17:30:07
Edd001 he's extremely close to jude. It's not as if he'd be going to Madrid as the only English player in the team. I'm sure the lure of Madrid and his superstar bestie is highly attractive. Players came to Liverpool because of the pull of Gerrard. It's not bizarre atall.

{Ed001's Note - it is bizarre. He is extremely close to Robertson and a number of others at Liverpool as well, particularly Szoboszlai I believe, but you think one mate in another team is a reason to move there. How Gerrard is related to this I don't know and you don't seem to understand either. We weren't luring people from top clubs to play alongside Gerrard, they were coming from minor clubs with a lack of quality to play alongside one of the best of his generation. Trent already plays with some of the best of this generation for the club he supports.}

6.) 23 Mar 2024 22:55:00
Trent was born in Liverpool, went to school there, has family and mates there, has only played for Liverpool, is vice-capt at Liverpool, he plays every single game when fit.
The only reason he's leaving the club is if he finds himself surplus with limited game time. I imagine the ‘lure’ of Real Madrid and Bellingham means very little to him.

7.) 24 Mar 2024 02:56:42
I reckon Trent will retire at Liverpool, he's liverpool through and through. Real Madrid can come calling all they want, he's going nowhere.

8.) 24 Mar 2024 06:35:28
I actually have a slightly different opinion to many on here. Of all the English players not named Bellingham, I think Trent would be the one Real Madrid would want. Trent’s supreme technical quality just reeks of Madrid, he’d fit in very well there. I have no doubt he’d go to Madrid if he isn’t completely satisfied at Liverpool - behind Bellingham and (probably) Mbappe, Trent would walk in as their 3rd-best player.
None of this is to say he won’t want to continue playing for Liverpool. Liverpool is his boyhood club and he is adored by most of the city. We just need to make sure we’re serious about re-signing him and that we’re able to offer teams he’d easily get elsewhere.

9.) 24 Mar 2024 08:33:39
The mental gymnastics some folks go through to try and convince others that a player will move is comical.
Transfer discussions seem to make some lose their cognitive abilities.

10.) 24 Mar 2024 11:47:37
Bradleys come throgh, why don't we make a few quid outa Trent. ??Love LFC fans around the transfer windows, do be only dying to get their best players out the door. Hope Trent retires here, a legend.

11.) 24 Mar 2024 15:26:06
Exactly, @JNkunku. It's mad. They claim"that we need to keep our best players" yet at the drop of a hat, "We should sell our best players should we get a big offer"; They simply can not make up their minds. Weird as hell.

Even online, you see our fans saying that we should sell for 120m cos we now have Bradley and use the money to invest in the squad as if we don't already havemoney or 120m to reinvest without selling Trent. Or Salah for that matter.

Some of our fans can be this naive cos all they see is the cash we can get for selling Trent or Salah forgetting that the club may think that both are worth a lot more to us should we keep them and add other boss players to play with them. They are that weird.

12.) 24 Mar 2024 18:04:54
It’s funny how just as clubs are starting to look at a player’s contract there are these ‘rumours’ that pop up about other clubs being interested.

If you were cynical you might think that the player’s agent is doing his/ her job.

I’m sure Real Madrid would love to sign Trent as would many, many other clubs but he won’t leave Liverpool unless we decide we don’t want him, which is very unlikely.

Relax guys, Trent is loving being a leader of his boyhood club and is not going anywhere.

{Ed025's Note - im afraid you are living in cloud cuckoo land BP, if another club offers him a lot more money he will be off like a shot mate, loyalty is a thing of the past..

13.) 24 Mar 2024 18:30:52
What is so wrong if TAA does decide to make a move (I hope he doesn't, let's be clear)? He's a professional footballer and going to do what's best for himself and his family (he decides what "best" means, not you or me or anybody else) .

People do this routinely in daily life by the thousands. Hop from one job to another every 2-3 years. But all hell breaks loose if and when a footballer does it.

{Ed025's Note - your dead right ArAy, they are just transient employees who will look after their own interests mate...and who can blame them?..

14.) 24 Mar 2024 19:17:28
@Ed25, us, we blame them. We all blamed the last club captain less than 12 months ago. Anyone remember that happening?

15.) 24 Mar 2024 19:43:13
Ed25, that's not 100% true either cos players reject more money for different reasons in order to sign for teams ALL the time. That's just projection on your part. If Trent does not think it is a good move for him to go anywhere and thinks he still has a lot to offer and accomplish at LFC, he won't go. Not saying that would happen for sure. Just saying that what you are projecting is NOT full proof either.

@ArAy1869, that is not the point people are making, I think. What many of us are saying esp. me, is that this whole schtick is manufactured out of whole cloth and there are multiple culprits here. Madrid could be testing the waters, could be Trent's agent spilling stuff or just Romano posting crap to get clout since it's int'l break and it's a slow news week.

Btw, it is possible that Trent may have already agreed a new deal and the club is just waiting for a good time to announce it BUT clearly, this is NOT a scenario that computes with some people. At the end of the day, nobody knows anything about anything so the ITK's need to go take a nap. Just my point.

{Ed025's Note - as with most things Oli its just my opinion, but its based on things i have seen many times over the years mate, loyalty to a club or city goes right out of the window when it comes up against the wonga mate, its just the way it is..

16.) 24 Mar 2024 19:48:07
I certainly don't want to see trent going, that sort of ability doesn't grow on trees. i think we should be building a team with him as a mainstay. But I think he will want to play midfield in next phase of his career, whether madrid could offer him that I'm not sure as they probably have better options there already.

{Ed025's Note - im still unsure what his best position is Digger, the guy has talent of course but i dont think he is the best defensively and im not convinced with him in midfield either at this time mate, wand of a right foot but would that just make him a luxury player?...answers on a postcard.. :)

17.) 25 Mar 2024 06:57:30
I'm not 100% sure what's his best position either ed25,dunno if he be defensively aware enough for no.6.
In fairness to him hrs never had any run of games in midfield so we can't really say what he be like there.
Before his injury he was playing great stuff in that inverted rb position, scored big goals against fulham and city that won us points. defenesively he was playing v good as well.

{Ed025's Note - yeah digger as i said im a fan of his but where his best position is i dont really know, liverpool are blessed in midfield at the moment and i dont see him replacing Macca or Endo so it looks like a toss up between him and Slob, or he takes the right back spot from Bradley who has been a revelation mate, its a tough one..

18 Mar 2024 12:55:21
Edd001 are you still under the bed? Was that result a big blow to our confidence do you think or will it spur us on?

MIZER

{Ed001's Note - I just think the players looked tired. They made bad decisions because they were making tired decisions. The injuries caught up to us at a bad time. We really needed that game after the internationals rather than before. Hopefully most of the players will be back to something approaching full match sharpness after the break. It could go either way now, if we come back firing it will be a spur and drive us on to mame up for it. But a bad mistake could pile pressure on with the players so desperate to win for Klopp and that could cause issues.}

1.) 18 Mar 2024 14:47:30
When people like Gakpo play like we are 5-0 up every time they play no wonder we are making poor decisions, he needs a massive boot up the arse and Danns to be coming on instead of him until he learns we play at full pace or nothing, massive let down, thought the decision to take Robbo off was poor too, they couldn't handle that left side until then, i get he did it because Anthony likes to turn inside on his left but let's be real, it was Anthony and they showed too much respect for a poor player, bad decision making all round yesterday, field and the bench.

2.) 18 Mar 2024 14:53:43
Edd001 did you think it was wise with 1 minute to go to put everyone forward for the corner leaving bradley alone for 3 against 1. Endos legs were well gone to catch up.

{Ed001's Note - if he hadn't you would have been complaining he didn't go for it. It is always a risk. We stuck with the way we always play at corners and got unlucky, it happens.}

3.) 18 Mar 2024 15:06:30
@FSG. Gakpo is going through a horrible patch. He looks unrecognisable. But has shown when he first came to the club that he is a player. One thing I have learnt from our club is not to write off players straight away. I admit I sometimes fall into that trap. We have all learnt with a number of our players that we thought were done but they managed to pull it back. As for Danns, he looks like a very good prospect but needs game time.

The boys have to erase this game out their heads. 10 cup finals in the title race to bring to bring the Premier League home. Just hope City either beat Arsenal or at the very least it ends up a draw because that would put it in our hands. Play to our level and we get through the semi’s of the Europa and in a final anything can happen.

Yesterday was a bitter pill to swallow because it’s United and every fan wants to win every competition, but todays a new day, so you got to just take it and move on. But one things for sure we can’t afford to drop anymore points in the league. Or any off performances or games where we don’t finish our chances in Europa Cup because we will be punished. So a lot to play for still.

4.) 18 Mar 2024 15:34:16
Piling up for a corner worked against Notts forest and got us 3 valuable points, got caught yesterday but we attack minded team who always try to win a game.
And that's the way I want lfc to play.

5.) 18 Mar 2024 16:46:35
Spot on lads and Ed01. I was mad at the way we mismanaged the game as well BUT our guys looked dead on their feet and the accumulation of games finally told and we all knew it would at some point. I can accept a lost like this (our 4th of the season in all comps. ) under these circumstances.

IMO, I think it is just painful and frustrating cos of WHO we played more than anything else, a team I would not want to lose an argument to let alone a football match. It is what it is. At the end of the day, we play Utd twice and if I had to lose one to them, I'd rather it be this one. We go again cos Brighton like it or not, is a much bigger game than this one.

6.) 18 Mar 2024 16:46:41
@FSG, you attacking Gakpo is just showing your wretched attempt at scapegoating cos he was NOT even on the pitch when those chances were being missed so take a day off with the scapegoating cos it is just petty and of poor taste. Gakpo is one of the reasons we are even here to begin with cos he and Diaz were the only two forwards who were fit and helped us win 4 games in ELEVEN days, something Klopp himself did not think was possible before hand. He is having a bad time of it, just like Diaz and Darwin did earlier in the season. Pretty sure it happens in football to all players.

And forget the Danns comparison too. He is literally a kid and him coming on to effect the game full of youthful adrenaline suddenly does NOT make him fit enuff to talk to Gakpo who is a muh better player than he is, despite his tough run so far. Miss me with such foolishness, please.

7.) 18 Mar 2024 17:27:08
If the players were so tired it begs the question why did we play such a strong team in the europa when we'd already won the tie?

8.) 18 Mar 2024 20:53:08
Red-Will-is-1, it's not like you could field the academy in a European game either cos that goes against UEFA's competitino guidelines. We fielded the team we had and Klopp got reviews for doing so so as to rotate, give guys like Szobo and Salah minutes to get up to speed with their finess. Same goes for Robbo.

Not sure what the prob. is here cos Klopp has been doing this since Jan in an injury crises. This is nothing new and cos it did not work on this one occasion does NOT mean it was the wrong decision either as recent history has shown. Or are we now engaging in hidsight stuff again just cos we lost our 4th game in all comps. this season, everyone now seem to be geniuses after the fact?

9.) 18 Mar 2024 21:02:21
Really think people allow their own feelings and insecurities drive their perception of the team. I mean it’s natural I guess, but haven’t we seen far more evidence of this teams bounce back ability?

This isn’t directed at the OP but in general the response from many Liverpool fans especially regarding comments about Gakpo have been an embarrassment to the club and football followers in general.

10.) 18 Mar 2024 22:29:20
Not the whole academy no. But perhaps McConnell instead of Endo and maybe Koumas instead of Nunez for example. Endo and Nunez are certainly not short of minutes and could have been saving their legs for a game that mattered. Not hindsight stuff as you put it. Just logical, makes sense stuff. I'm Klopps biggest fan but like any human he sometimes gets things wrong. He got this wrong in my opinion and people are allowed to have their opinion aren't they?
We shouldn't have lost that game. We got ourselves into the winning position and lacked the game management to see it out. Players (nunez, Elliott) and klopp. Its a real shame. I think im upset by it because I want klopp to leave with the best send off and another cup and it feels like we threw that game away somewhat.
Im sure we will bounce back in the next game. I'm not worried that we've become bad all of a sudden I'm just gutted we threw that one away with some poor play and poor choices. It's a shame.

11.) 19 Mar 2024 00:53:43
I'm with Red Willis on this. The European cup tie was basically a done deal and we could have fielded a much younger team to give those who have been playing a lot a much needed rest. Players like McConnell, Koumas, and Tsimikas should have started. Understand that we do have players coming back that need the minutes too, like Nunez, Salah, and Szob but there was no reason for both Salah and Szob to play the full game in what is essentially a dead rubber game.

I love Klopp and what he has done for the club but I think we can agree that he and the team got it wrong for this FA game. I think he severely underestimated Utd and overestimated our players' capability to keep churning out results despite their fatigue.

12.) 19 Mar 2024 01:04:19
lost a game we shouldn't have at OT, won a trophy we arguably shouldn't have. it's sports and it's how it goes.
if the world worked as it should then City would win everything all the time.

13.) 19 Mar 2024 09:01:21
I’d prefer it if we were to win every game we ever play but in the context of what’s left this season, if we had to lose a game, a game in the FA Cup isn’t the worst one to lose. If we needed a bit of a kick up the backside this was a good game for it. Not a good performance by any means, let’s take the lesson and move on.

14.) 19 Mar 2024 12:06:03
Dracred and Red-Will-is-1, I respectfully disagree cos when it comes to lineups, everyone seems to be smarter only after all the facts are known and only after we don't win. That what pundits do and I can't stand them for that. A manager does not have that luxury cos he is dealing with the reality in real time so he has to go with the best info provided to him in real time. Sorry, I do not subscribe to that mess. And how many times has Klopp had the "wrong" lineup and still won? Again, not bothered with such things anymore cos there are NO guaranties if footie. The fact that I have to say that is weird already.

Klopp played the team he had based on the info he had and again cos it did not work does not mean it was the wrong thing either. After all had we taken our chances, would this convo be happening? If the answer is no then why da football should it happen now? Cos we lost? Nah, hindsight intelligence does NOTHING for me. If we were okay with the lineup before the loss then sorry, we can't come back an start kicking off on something we did not complain about when we were winning. If you said nothing then? Say nothing now, really.

15.) 19 Mar 2024 12:13:24
@ OliRed, give over, Gakpo was terrible and he lost the ball many times and didn't even have it in him to take anyone one, he linked up nothing and brought nothing, take off your Red tinted glasses, not bothered if you like it or not, give your opinion, you slag players and have a fit if no one agrees with you then stick your tongue up the arse of anyone who slightly agrees with you. The team selection for Thursday was ridiculous and cost us, the subs cost us on Sunday too, it happens, Klopp and his team aren't perfect, stop acting like they are and crying when people think they aren't. Salah got 90 mins in a dead rubber, then looked shattered after 45 mins of a massive game, that's poor decision making.

16.) 19 Mar 2024 13:54:40
FSG you have no clue what you are talking about.

How do you know that the team selection on Thursday cost us? How do you know that the subs on Sunday cost us?

If we’d played a weakened side on Thursday and sent Salah, Nunez et al out half baked in Sunday we might have lost 3-0.

Also if we’d left Szob and Salah on we could’ve lost it in normal time 3-2. We will never know.

To look at it after the fact and say ‘if we’d have done this then that would’ve happened’ is pure conjecture and quite frankly is absolute nonsense.

If you want to criticise players then that’s your prerogative but you simply cannot say with any degree of certainty that a different line up on Thursday or different subs on Sunday would’ve made any difference whatsoever.

17.) 19 Mar 2024 16:43:40
@Becker, of course i can, why didn't Salah attempt once to take on Wan Bassaka? He was coming back from weeks off and played 90 mins instead of 45 is crazy. Gakpo has shown he is a very good player but he needs to up his tempo, he had a shocking game so i called it, rotation is massive to help players stay sharp, Szob went off injured, different case, we missed his drive when he went off, didn't miss Salah when he went off, United struggled and we dominated the left when Robbo was on, soon as he went off that threat went.

18.) 19 Mar 2024 17:39:08
The thing with Gakpo is, he has been playing poorly for a while now . seems slow n indecisive. But I do think a fixed position for him would see him settle better . we all know he is a good player n he had showed it for us n the Dutch national team.

19.) 19 Mar 2024 17:43:07
I think it’s safe to say if Klopp knew Sundays game was going to go for 120 mins then selection and substitutions would have possibly been different on the Thursday.

Looking at both games now the Utd game was the harder one but I think we kind of thought it was a forgone conclusion after City performance that we would win.

It’s never nice to lose to your rivals but hopefully that result has removed any complacency the players and fan base (I’m Guilty of this) were building up thinking that it was a case of well just win every game.

Brighton next which is always a tough game for us but probably a good game for us to get back focused and hopefully back to winning ways.

20.) 19 Mar 2024 19:57:35
So FSG you are telling me that Salah didn’t try to take Wan Bissaka on because he played an extra 45 minutes on Thursday? Are you for real?

How do you know the threat on the left side would’ve continued if Robbo stayed on? You don’t.

We lost a game, sometimes there’s no one to blame it’s just football. We’ve had our fair share of late winners over the years and even over the course of this season but this time it happened to us.

If this had happened and that had happened we would’ve won is just pointless. Klopp had his reasons for playing who he played and he’s the manager with all of the info in front of him. Just accept it. You don’t know if a different decision would’ve had a better outcome. As much as you think you do, you don’t. Nobody does.

21.) 21 Mar 2024 16:28:43
So we should just watch a game without passion or feeling or no thought of our own because hindsight isn't real, nice, this sight would be quiet if no one reacted to the goings on around matches etc.

Trent scores 3 goals a season and his assists are half of what they were when he's came in centrally plus there's no guarantees he'll get into midfield under a new manager. he's quality but that's outrageous if he gets put onto that.

Problem with trent is he's truly woeful defensively but a brilliant passer. He's positive with the ball, he'll play the ball fans want played. That's a great asset but he's not imo ever going to succeed as a defensive midfielder. Trent has a lot of flaws as an overall player. He's not athletic like a Bellingham or past Gerrard. He's weak physically in the air, in challenges and doesn't have the legs to be a box to box midfielder.
Trent has to continue being an attacking full back and work qnd work on his defensive side. It's as simple as that.

Edd001 what would you call robertsons flaws?

MIZER

{Ed001's Note - his delivery is extremely inconsistent, brilliant at times, dreadful at others. But his biggest flaw is his rashness, he gets caught up field constantly chasing when he should have dropped off, or rushing out to cut out a ball he is never getting to. His positional sense is good, but he will forget it to rush out far too often. The other flaw is that he rarely, if ever, cuts out crosses. He stands off and lets the wideman put the ball in under little pressure. Though I think that must be an instruction as Trent does the same. I don't understand it though as it does not take much to get a step closer and pressure the man on the ball.}
