Hello Ed002

Hope this message finds the gentleman traveller and part time rodeo clown doing well :)

Would you mind sharing any insights on Jamal Musiala's possible availability this summer, given his current contract situation, and whether Liverpool has any interest.

He looks like a perfect FSG signing. Young but experienced and potentially world class. Flexible forward who can play across the frontline.

Appreciate he currently plays centrally but surely a has the tools to be a Salah replacement.

Always grateful for the information you share. Much thanks!

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - Jamal Musiala (AM/LW) Bayern Munich will have no interest in selling the player back to Chelsea but the player is delaying a new contract and needs to reduce his demands. Real Madrid has a declared interest. Manchester City have asked Bayern Munich for talks over the player as a de Bruyne replacement, but they will resist.}

Ex-Chelsea?

Get him in FSG.

2.) 17 Feb 2024 23:42:52
Musiala is another to add to the list of players who won’t be playing for us.

3.) 18 Feb 2024 09:53:00
Why victor? And just curious could you ever see him playing for say. a chelsea or an Arsenal?

4.) 18 Feb 2024 10:14:43
If he doesn’t want to come to Liverpool, fair enough. Why would you want to keep a list? Definitely falls into the ‘life’s too short’ category.

5.) 18 Feb 2024 10:23:56
Im curious as to his reasoning west is that ok? I ask because people always say x or y player wouldn't come here yet then ratrle off these kinds of clubs as likely destinations. Always amazes me.

6.) 18 Feb 2024 12:49:54
Here’s a non exhaustive list of players some on here pined for and were convinced we could sign and were signing that didn’t end up coming here and will never play for us.

Kai Havertz
Timo Werner
Jadon Sancho
Christopher Nkunku
Jude Bellingham
Kylian Mbappe (soon to Madrid)

Just add Musiala to that list as we wouldn’t spend the kind of money Bayern would want. Whereas City, United and Chelsea would, we’ve been here before. He probably wouldn’t and up at Arsenal either because of their wage structure. I think we can confidently predict that Musiala will never play in a Liverpool shirt, the same way it was obvious that Bellingham wouldn’t and never will either. To think otherwise is bring delusional.

@Viktor

Your logic on finances alone is flawed.

Liverpool had a bid of ~100m accepted for Moises Caicedo accepted and pay Mo Salah in excess of 300k per week. So FSG will pay the money if they see value. But of course there are limits, FFP.

Whether Jamal Musiala would want to join Liverpool is another question. For sure he would have plenty of options.

Nevertheless the future is bright. Top players will sign!

8.) 18 Feb 2024 14:29:02
I agree with Viktor, although the top 4 players I’m ecstatic we didn’t get them. Musiala is one of those players that is beyond the clubs reach, like Bellingham.

9.) 18 Feb 2024 17:41:06
Jaynwa, we may pay Salah £300k+ pw but there’s no way we’d pay that kind of wage straight away to a new player. I’d say Musiala has career plans that don’t involve us, like Bellingham et al. There are some players that are beyond our reach.

I think they should consider two additions for RW. Someone who can hit the ground running to replace Salah and an understudy.

IMO, Doak is not ready and probably would develop more quickly with a loan move. I suspect similarly with Kaide Gordon. Would love an academy player to challenge for the first team RW but it looks like they are a season or two away.

Appreciate Elliot, Szoboszlai and others can provide cover but we do need two quality players in every position.

It will be an interesting summer.

My take, the players and coach are exhausted. This project has run its course. Time for new ideas, new energy and yes a few new faces.

But I will reserve judgement on wholesale changes until the new coach has had time to work with them. There's huge potention waiting to be unlocked.

Let's give the new regime some time to work their magic.

After doing some reading, I think Arnie Slot would be very good. Plays beautiful attacking football and a real personality. Clearly very highly rated and in demand.

Ed002, there was mention of release clause available this summer but he then signed a new contract. Do you know what the situation is now?

After winning the cup and Feyenoord almost guaranteed to finish second, perhaps an agreement can be firmed up quickly. Surely this would helpful to affirm summer transfer targets.

. probably more twists to come.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - The release clause was removed so Feyenoord can demand whatever they want.}

He looks a really exciting player and fits the profile of potential targets.

I read somewhere he did not go to Brighton last summer because he wanted a release clause. So maybe there is clause with WHU that could make it possible.

Quality over speed. I'm all for them taking a moment to ensure best execution of the set piece.

What if they rush it, screw it up and get hit with a goal on counter attack?

No, calm heads and clear thought. It takes a second to score a goal.

Jaynwa

{Ed001's Note - so they can't jog forward to get in the box rather than stroll? Not sure how that would stop it being the right execution.}

Let's be clear, Herr Klopp knows more about football than any of us. His acumen has brought us success and much joy.

Re. the game. I thought the second half performance was good. Ponderous, really?

Perhaps the tactics would been more effective if returning players were not dusting off the rust and had more rhythm. Szob needs to play. Play himself into form!

Please Trent ease yourself into the game before spraying the Hollywood balls.

Gakpo and Nunez are different kinds of players. I'd lke to see them play more together, develop a partnership. Gakpo's game intelligence, touch and finishing is under rated. He finds space and doesn't try to completely leather the ball every time.

I'm also a big fan of captain chaos. He just needs a bit more composure in those crucial moments.

Of course we are all frustrated with not converting chances but we are not far away from completely battering a team when it finally clicks.

The second half performance against Palace was very encouraging and with key people now back and finding rhythm, I for one am optimistic for a final push.

We are only two points off the top and tough games for everyone still to go. More points will be dropped by Arsenal and City.

The defeatism of some on here is frankly pathetic. Falling down is human. We judge on how people get up and bounce back. I trust Herr Klopp to find solutions, as he has before.

Let's get behind the lads and push on!

Yes, Nunez still looks raw at times with inconsistent finishing but look at his growth from a year ago.

His energy and dynamism gets him into positions and chances other players would not get anywhere near. He's a disruptor and creates space. A tremendous player with huge potential.

Playing with a more natural finisher like Jota or maybe with Salah more centrally and Szoboszlai / Bradley providing width would be interesting.

I think Gakpo is playing well and should start against Palace. Great touch and links up play well. Good to see him showing his quality.

Suspect Jota will be on the bench and build up minutes. He's class and been a real miss.

Yesterday was bad but with Ali, Trent and Jota back, I'm optimistic we can kick on.
