Juventus appear close to a deal for Douglas luiz.

Does this mean they have moved on from Koopmeiners, or possibly they looking to bring in both.

Ed002, is there any new to get excited about or should we just sit back and wait?

TIA.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - Juvenus are making hanges to their midfield this summer with a number of player departing. DL and TK are unrelated but they are interested in both lthouigh nothing will happen with TK until mid or late JUly at the earliest.

I am not aware of anything that would get you excited today.}

1.) 12 Jun 2024 11:25:46
Shame Koopmeiners is now out of Euro’s - was looking forward to seeing him up against the best Europe has to offer. Think Netherlands are going to be up there and VVD is still looking sharp after a long domestic season. ??.

2.) 12 Jun 2024 13:01:00
Holland have an amazing squad but remember…Koeman is their coach, he is footballing kryptonite.

3.) 12 Jun 2024 18:09:37
They lack any good forward players haven’t got a sniff at winning it. That will be Portugal.

4.) 13 Jun 2024 07:12:02
You can pretty much write Portugal off now.
"Curse of the scout spout".

I noticed some reports of Porto speaking to Boca regarding Equi Fernandez. A name we were linked with previously.

Perhaps Porto are preparing for Alan Varela to depart.?

Despite numerous links, Some journalists have poured cold water on the idea of Liverpool moving for Varela, due to the emergence of Bajcetic.

Ed002,

Is there anything new you can share about LFC's current interest in Equi Fernandez or Verala?

Much thanks!

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - Alan Varela (DM) Barcelona may offer a profit to Porto and a player in exchange. PSG has a declared interest. An option for Manchester City to replace Phillips, but not first choice although they have spoken with Porto. Bayern Munich consider him an option to replace Kimmich. Liverpool are following up on several scouting missions to see if something can be done. Chelsea sent scouts but no more. Dortmund will not match his buy out clause. Porto has no interest in selling the player who only joined them in the summer of 2023 unless someone offered his buy out clause in a single payment, then the player will be consulted.

Ezequiel Fernandez (DM) After losing out on Boca youngster Alan Varela, Benfica have turned to another Boca youngster, Ezequiel Fernandez, as a potential Florentino replacement - Fernandez is also interesting Milan, Arsenal and Liverpool who had him scouted by an ex-PL player who is now a very high-end scout. Porto consider him an option. Unlikely to be available until next January unless paying well over the odds. New contract and staying.}

1.) 09 Jun 2024 08:55:38
What’s the buyout clause Ed may I ask?

{Ed002's Note - €70M.}

2.) 09 Jun 2024 10:13:44
Thank you Ed!

06 Jun 2024 13:55:10
Adam Wharton only moved to Crystal Palace in January yet has taken to premier league and now international football seamlessly.

Is he under consideration as option for one of the double pivots commonly used by Slot?

Young, HG and high ceiling. Looks like and ideal target.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 06 Jun 2024 19:07:42
Baj is far better.

2.) 06 Jun 2024 19:27:30
He’d be far too expensive and Ace, to say “Baj is far better” isn’t a comment based on any fact.

3.) 06 Jun 2024 20:59:04
Viktor with all due respect, stop crapping on our own for your dire need of shiny new toy syndrome. Only the other day you wanted Trent out for Rodrygo, based on what? Facts? Keep them. City shirt with your name on it, go and grab one la.

4.) 07 Jun 2024 11:35:57
@Victor “He’d be far too expensive” isn’t a fact. You have absolutely no idea what the club might pay if they consider the player to be the right fit. It is simply your opinion, which, not for the first time, you are trying to pass off as fact.

“Baj is far better” is also an opinion, which you immediately stamp on because you disagree.

Pot, kettle.

Hello Mr Ed002

It looked like Assan Ouedraogo was nailed on for Bayern M but now maybe not?

You mentioned that Liverpool are out of the running due to an illegal approach, so I'm not holding my breath.

Is there anything new you can share?

TIA

Assan Ouedraogo (CM/ DM) Much is expected of the kiddie and Schalke will try and fend off interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich who want to take him at 18 in the summer and have both spoken with his club. The Manchester clbs may offer an option. Schalke has also said that they are aware that an "agent" representing the underage player has been approached by someone representing Liverpool and that they have written to the club asking for this to stop. That will discount Liverpool. Brighton and Milan have sent scouts.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - Assan Ouedraogo (CM/DM/AM) Much is expected of the kiddie and Schalke will try and fend off interest from Chelsea and Bayern Munich who want to take him at 18 in the summer and have both spoken with his club. Schalke has also said that they were aware that an "agent" representing the then underage player had been approached by someone representing Liverpool and by Brighton and that they have written to the clubs asking for this to stop. He has now turned 18 and his agent is now free to negotiate and has said that Aston Villa and Newcastle have also now spoken with her. It looked very likely that Bayern Munich would be able give the youngster the move he desired in the summer and integrate him in to the Bayern Munich II side. However, in order to sell Schalke are demanding the player be loaned back for, ideally two years. Bayern may accept a one year loan, but for now it is on hold. Player has recovered from a serious injury and that is not seen as a concern but his injury record is pretty poor and he is injured again. Schalke are in a huge mess as a club and need to bring players through the ranks.}

1.) 03 Jun 2024 13:40:13
Looks a player, Ed. Would be surprised to see us buying and loaning back for 2 years. I guess Bayern will get their way with this one.

31 May 2024 09:19:27
Hi Ed002

You mentioned Curtis Jones will likely stay. Do you know if there is interest from other clubs. Aston Villa were spoken about as an option a while ago

He performed really well in periods last season and has certainly upped a level. However, I wonder if that is his ceiling and now with an England call up and his stock high, is it time to cash in?

While he is a local lad and no doubt loves the club, I suspect his contract is far below the likes of Gravenberch. He may feel he needs to move on to get the financial rewards and establish himself as a first on the team sheet starter for regular England inclusion.

Just a hunch but I wonder if he might move this summer.

We have other similar players to CJ. If someone like Ederson (Atalanta) could come in, it would better balance the midfield options, IMO.

Noted, you mention Ederson could be an option.

TIA and grateful for the information you share.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - I would expect Curtis Jones to stay now.

Ederson (CM) Having a good season and attracting interest from Spurs, Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool and Atletico Madrid. Barcelona have sent scouts. Atalanta want an auction if he is to be sold - starting at €40M. With CL football and Gasperini staying put it makes it less likely he will be sold.}

1.) 31 May 2024 10:51:07
I would rather we bide our time and wait until Adam Wharton becomes available than sign another midfielder this summer.

2.) 31 May 2024 10:52:11
Haven't seen enough of Ederson over a longer period but he was an absolute powerhouse in the games vs us and Leverkusen. Can he deliver those performances consistently? I don't know.

3.) 31 May 2024 10:55:41
Local Liverpool lad, stand out when the England U-21’s last year - man of the match in the semi and the final, if memory serves. The club has stood by him for 2 - 3 years as his body matures (not forgetting the freakish, scary eye injury), never let the club down, breaks into the full England squad just before the Euros ……. Cracking idea to sell him.

4.) 31 May 2024 19:03:22
As his body matures he's 23 now it's matured. He can hold on to the ball fair enough but letting it go is a different story. Just look at his assists. Sentimental bull doesn't win titles.

5.) 31 May 2024 20:53:40
@Endo3, nothing to do with sentiment - I have a different view on his capabilities and potential. I assume you missed or didn’t understand what Klopp has been saying for the past 9 years about the squad and the stuff about the ‘right player’.

6.) 31 May 2024 23:24:49
Unfortunately Jones isn’t a starter in a team looking to win the title. Although he’s got a good first touch and his technique is ok, his decision making is not the best, he holds on to the ball too long and positional sense and awareness isn’t great. If he’s happy to be a squad filler then fine, but in no way is he ever an automatic starter as things stand.

{Ed025's Note - spot on VV..

7.) 31 May 2024 23:30:26
If you purely want to look at numbers, Wiji had 22 goals and 16 assists in all competitions throughout his time with us. Jones is currently at 16 goals and 14 assists. So his numbers aren't that different when compared to Wiji, especially when you consider that he was much younger and was still developing when he first broke into our team.

Btw, I'm not trying to diss Wiji or anything like that. Just wanted to show that there is more to the game than just numbers.

8.) 31 May 2024 23:51:09
Curtis Jones. Squad player at best. He doesn’t get in City team, Arsenal team, Madrid, etc.
We need to think bigger, better. We’re back in the Champions League now, stay there.

9.) 01 Jun 2024 05:45:06
Wasn’t Jones in the squad when we got back into the Champions League then?

10.) 01 Jun 2024 07:09:33
ViktorVaughan and the rest of you wools haven't got a clue what it's like to play for your home town club, What's up with you, new manager need all new shiny foreign players? Stop having a go and get behind the lad .

11.) 01 Jun 2024 21:45:34
Curtis needs to be sold. Even at my old age I'd still think I am/ was a better player than him.
I am not trying to be rude but it baffles my mind he's made the career he has.
If he gets to stay I hope he can make vast improvements to his game.

Would Archie Gray be a better understudy to Trent, for the inverted RB, than Conor Bradley?

Now, I think Conor Bradley is terrific and has a bright future but is he more of a tradition RB, providing width on the wing.

I've not seen enough of Archie Gray to have a strong opinion but certainly highly rated.

Just throwing it out there!

Jaynwa

1.) 02 Jun 2024 22:31:17
With the way Slot utilises his wingers, Bradley could very easily play RW to be fair. Wouldn’t write him off just yet.

2.) 02 Jun 2024 23:25:11
@MK

Not writing him off in the slightest. He's terrific

. and that's a good shout about RW. We need width especially if the RB inverts.

My point was really more about how the system works if Trent is not available. He is quite unique and yet we need a deputy who is comfortable in midfield. JG is not the answer either.

Archie Gray has an interesting profile. Played mostly RB last season but really a midfielder.

Just wondering if there's something in the plan. Maybe we buy him and loan back to Leeds for next season. He will then be all primed for when Trent goes to Real Madrid on a Bosman.

3.) 03 Jun 2024 07:06:45
Bajetic has played a couple of games at RB for us.

Not sure if he could an inverted fullback answer.

4.) 03 Jun 2024 09:46:16
Bradleys good enough to learn Slots ways he's superb, Trent will have to up his game these next few years to keep him out of the side.

5.) 03 Jun 2024 16:23:30
Bradley the understudy. he got to be the main man there . Trent can go in midfield. if anything Gray would be the understudy to Bradley.

{Ed002's Note - Archie Gray (DM/CM/RB) Leeds kiddie having an excellent season in the Championship and showing versatility. Will not be for sale but Leeds have noted Crystal Palace have enquired. Scouts from Manchester United, West Ham, Liverpool and Spurs have attended games but it would be a waste of the player unless these clubs are looking to utilise him in the first team with all having preferred options. Borussia Dortmund or Bayern Munich may provide a wildcard solution. Expect him to stay.}

6.) 03 Jun 2024 18:06:21
Id agree JK. I don't like the system but my biggest problem with it was that the style shouldn't rely on a single person, which it did with all others failing to fill in for Trent properly on this role last season.
I would tweak it so a CB steps up rather than the full back invertz like City do with Stones and Ake, Walker, Akanji and the other one all being capable at full back and CB so they can transition in and out of a back 3 and 4 easily and quickly, spreading out and tucking in as necessary with Stone just needing to drop straight back rather than back and across. Simpler and easier to stick to in transitions.
We could do this easily with Bajcetic and Endo both being capable at CB and CDM (Bajcetic played CB his whole youth career and Endo has played CB previously as well.

7.) 03 Jun 2024 19:52:14
Why would he play understudy to Trent? Connor is the better player by leaps and bounds.

8.) 03 Jun 2024 21:24:05
Conor is a good player with high ceiling but Trent is world class.

Let's just be honest and keep things in proportion.

9.) 04 Jun 2024 01:01:31
Jaynwa. Bradley is a better defender than Trent . Play trent were he wants to play and that is midfield and the jury is out on wether he is world class. he might be when he plays midfield but definitely not when at right back.

{Ed001's Note - utter crap. Trent is world class at right-back, it is nonsense to suggest he isn't. And he will play anywhere if asked to for Liverpool. Why so many people think he is crap at defending, just because he was asked to play a role that left him exposed is beyond me.}

10.) 04 Jun 2024 05:35:25
Subjective opinions will be the death of us all haha.

11.) 04 Jun 2024 17:28:52
How is Trent world class at right back ed1.to me his defending is not up to scratch n that is before this stupid inverted role. he is great going forward, can pass a ball like Glen hoddle but he a defender first . if he has to play midfield then he could be world class in that position .

{Ed001's Note - if you say so, but you are just another one fooled by the crap in the media. He plays as instructed.}

@VV please leave it for down the pub.

Disappointing misogyny. Surprised this got posted.

Maybe the eds should decide what this platform is going to be and for who. This is not why I come here.

I'm not prudish but there's a time and a place.

{Ed025's Note - fair enough if thats how you feel jay, but it does seem that you cant open your mouth these days without offending someone, the PC police dont allow jokes or humorous observations now, i can actually see your point on this one mate and i apologize for posting it as it obviously caused offence..

Thank you Ed002, I will take a look at Kobel.

Do you think he would be obtainable? I believe Dortmund will have some meaningful squad adjustments this summer. Perhaps they will need to raise some funds.

If Alisson was to leave, would Giorgi Mamardashvili be an option?

I read he may move this summer with Newcastle among those interested.

Do you think he would be a good fit for the way we play or is there someone else, we should be tracking.

I'm sure the scouting team have a list of possible options, contingency plans.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest in Mamardashvili and the release clause is putting off those who are interested. Kobel would likely be a good fit.}

This may not be popular or even viable but if Liverpool believe Bajcetic is the long term DM/ 6 solution, replacing Endo with Palhinha would be a step up in quality and not unduly impede development.

Price might be a problem but perhaps this summer competition for his signing is less and Fulham are open to doing a deal.

Would Manuel Ugarte be an option for Liverpool this summer?

By all accounts we got things very wrong with Sporting and screwed-up any chance of getting him before his move to PSG. I've read PSG have ruled out a loan move but Juventus and Milan have been sniffing around.

Do you think he would be a good addition, irrespective of whether it is possible?

TIA.

Jaynwa

{Ed002's Note - No he is not an option for Liverpool.}

Surely the benchmark for players is, are they world class or potentially world class?

IMO, if someone offers 40+m for a squad utility player, we take the money and reinvest in the squad. Filling holes when people are injured is the what the academy is for.

All that said, the power is all with the player. It's Joe's decision.

@Salah, everyone is replaceable

@Oilred, if the offer meets the clubs valuation and they believe reinvestment in the squad is a net benefit, then there's a decision to be made.

I think people often get too emotionally attached to players. This is big business and money rules. The owners know qualifying year on year to the champions league and winning trophies is what counts, to the bottom line and fans alike. That means a strong competitive squad with longevity.

Everyone has a price.

My loyalty is foremost to the club, players come and go. LFC spends what it earns so compete at the highest level we need to be really smart about managing the squad. Something I think in recent years we could have done better.

Klopp is a legend but his loyalty to players and influence on contracts were not necessarily in the long term interest of the club, IMO.

I want us to be successful not just for next season but the decade and beyond. That might mean difficult decisions in the short term.
