Hi all,

As I previously reported after the Leeds game, Salah has now agreed to terminate his contract with the club. This is something that's been in negotiations for months, beginning around the time of Leeds away.

The club are in deep negotiations with Bayern regarding a deal for Michael Olise. Additionally, Galatasaray winger Sallai is viewed as a backup, should Olise not sign.

Cheers Vic.

No thanks to any of the Galatasaray players, they are s****.

1

24 Mar 2026 21:18:46
Not sure why we would terminate his contract. Salah has been a great servant to the club, but surely we should be taking a transfer fee for a player that has to be worth 40/50 million.

1

24 Mar 2026 21:24:16
Salah might not want to go to Saudi? They are pretty much the only ones likely to pay £50m for him after all.

0

24 Mar 2026 21:30:33
Olise down to Sallai seems a hefty drop off.

28, is he not a right back?

Rather do a Bowen, if pickings are that slim.

Thank you for sharing mate.

24 Mar 2026 21:35:26
Not Diomande?

0

24 Mar 2026 19:30:21
Sky are reporting that Salah's contract will be terminated at the end of the season.

2

24 Mar 2026 20:14:22
Nice. I'm sure the club are happy as it distracts people from the fraud in charge who should be leaving.

9

24 Mar 2026 20:23:32
Bit surprised we are terminating his contract, thought we would look for a fee for him considering there is still 1 year left on his contract.
Or keep him, and possibly a new manager could get something out of him.

3

24 Mar 2026 20:30:29
Seems a bit odd we aren't getting a fee, we are in desperate need of replacements. And with no CL football we are going to be lacking more funds.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - a fee would be good of course Dean, but just getting him off the wage bill will be a shot in the arm for the club mate..

4

24 Mar 2026 21:12:22
Not when we're doing stupid stuff like handing out £250k-a-week contracts to Gakpo, Ed25. The club have become incredibly profligate over the last 12 months.

0

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - i suppose its the going rate these days BR even for average players like Gakpo mate, the money these player get now is ridiculous but i suppose teams can afford to pay it..

0

24 Mar 2026 21:30:50
Salah is on £20m per year plus bonuses, so it saves our wage bill significantly. I would assume Salah has no intention of going to Saudi just yet, and no European club will pay a fee and take on such high wages, so the best middle ground is release him on a free to another European club and save wages rather than Salah seeing out his contract and it being a lose-lose for club and player. Salah's fee has been well and truly paid back 10-fold, so I'm happy he gets his move and leaves a club legend!

24 Mar 2026 19:22:14
Please post to rumours.

I am told Szobozlai has signed, announcement to be delayed for a while, though.

Edwards not going anywhere in Summer.

3

24 Mar 2026 20:14:26
You're just guessing. I'll stick with what Carra, the fields and Robbo tell us, thanks.

4

24 Mar 2026 21:37:04
Yeah. Ned said last week that he had been told that it was agreed.

0

24 Mar 2026 18:54:36
Salah has confirmed he will leave in the summer.

6

24 Mar 2026 19:12:26
Reckon there's still plenty of life in him. Unfortunately, because our manager's lost his marbles, it's not easy to tell how much of his poor form is really him getting old.

15

24 Mar 2026 19:12:41
Well, let's remember Mo on his whole 9 years, and not just this season. He's been nothing short of incredible. And one of the main parts of our success, let's not forget that. True Anfield great and great fella to boot. 👍🏻

18

24 Mar 2026 19:15:39
Thanks Mo, a true legend!
I am calling it now though, Alonso will be the new Manager and bye bye wingers, hello wingbacks and a back 3.
He won't be wanting a repeat of Madrid.

11

24 Mar 2026 19:21:07
End of an era. Absolute legend him and deserves to be talked about in the same conversation as Dalglish, Keegan, Hunt, Rush, Barnes as one of the greatest to ever pull on a Liverpool shirt. He has the goals and the trophies to back it up.

13

24 Mar 2026 19:31:16
Thank you for everything, Mo.
Forever a legend at this great club.
YNWA.

5

24 Mar 2026 19:43:39
Molby Magic, I don't think it mattered what formation he played at Madrid, they just didn't like working hard. He will defo play 4 at the back, I'm sure of it. A manager who plays 3 at the back was the reason we didn't employ Amorim.

1

24 Mar 2026 19:46:36
Absolute legend and always will be. Looking forward to seeing the rebuild with Xabi at the helm.

2

https://www.evertonrumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_ed025-1241569729.png avatar{Ed025's Note - yeah interesting times ahead Skezza..

4

24 Mar 2026 20:17:44
A legend, it's the right time, it's a nice chunk off the wage bill, his legacy is secure, we don't need to watch him fade, and I very much look forward to seeing Mane, Bobby and Mo in the legends team in a few years, that front 3, what a show they put on for us.

Thanks for the memories, I cashed in my pension after we lost the first Madrid final, so my lad and I could go to as many games as possible for non-season ticket holders, sensing a special period, we weren't disappointed. When I'm still working at 85 I may regret it.

One of the all time first 11. Zero doubt. A privilege to have him play for the club. A further privilege to have seen him in his prime. Icon.

3

24 Mar 2026 18:54:26
Salah announced he is leaving at the end of the season. I assume we'll be selling him and not releasing him from his contract.

3

24 Mar 2026 19:15:34
Free agent.

0

24 Mar 2026 19:17:47
Free agent apparently. I don't mind that, the man owes us nothing.

4

24 Mar 2026 19:25:28
Ben Jacob reporting it's on a free.

0

24 Mar 2026 19:28:45
Confirmed on a free transfer.

0

24 Mar 2026 20:01:26
I really think it is for the best for all concerned that Mo Salah moves on to pastures new and I for one wish him the best in all he does.
It is the end of an era, let's hope we have someone to take Mo.
Thank you Mo for the fantastic times.

I don't know if @Fields, @Robbo, @Carra, etc can confirm (the golfers will have better info than me, lol), but it does appear that Both Hughes and Edwards will be leaving at the end of the season. This is not based on Keys' useless reports, but a comment to me from a journalist friend who is usually Very reliable.

8

24 Mar 2026 10:25:45
The ITKs can neither confirm nor deny, however, they can confirm that something, or nothing, may happen at the end of the season.

35

24 Mar 2026 10:53:16
I'll put my neck on the line and say Hughes will leave for sure.

Edwards is upset at the owners for putting the breaks on buying a second club.

Nothing is confirmed at this point, but certainly, both could leave this summer.

Ta.

24 Mar 2026 11:07:27
Hopefully paving the way for Jurgen to return.

9

24 Mar 2026 11:45:52
I can't see JK returning as I believe he is holding out for the Germany job.

9

24 Mar 2026 11:53:17
Thanks, Carra.
Think a clean sweep is needed and Hughes, Edwards and Slot need to go.
It does look like Slot will be here until the end of the season (incredible as it sounds).

6

24 Mar 2026 12:10:26
Carra, any confirmation on Slot?

0

24 Mar 2026 12:24:49
Hi Diddly Ho,

Just on a personal-none ITK perspective but I don't think Jurgen will return to the club, I'm fairly certain he's extremely proud of what he achieved.

The only job I can see him taking in terms of coaching again in the future is the German NT.

That said, looking forward to him being back in the dugout for the Legends game, we should definitely abduct him for the remainder of the season, anyone got a decent cellar the club can use?

Diddly out

18

24 Mar 2026 12:52:51
Has Hughes' time been seen as a failure? I thought the owners wanted stability and long term appointments.
Edwards was the driving force behind Isak, who in my mind will undoubtedly be considered a flop when all is said and done.

I hope Edwards stays to work alongside Xabi.

2

24 Mar 2026 13:05:38
To be honest, you can't really blame FSG for taking a step back on multi club ownership given the economic situation. If Edwards has had a hissy fit over that, then maybe the role isn't for him.

13

24 Mar 2026 13:14:08
If the multi-club plan has been shelved, then surely Edwards will be made redundant?

5

24 Mar 2026 13:25:34
@FSW, just to confirm. You think that Isak is a flop and Edwards is responsible for it, but you want him to stay on and work with the next manager?

5

24 Mar 2026 13:28:00
Nothing will be decided until the summer.

Ta.

16

24 Mar 2026 13:36:17
Either way you look at it, we are clueless on the pitch with no ideas, no style of play, and most importantly, no intensity. Training methods have robbed players of fitness, we need a fresh start.

Off the field it doesn't get any better, dawdling on making decisions, no clear plan, just hit and hope. This summer is the biggest summer as a club in over a decade. If all 3 are gone 🤞🏻, we need the right approach to personal who will bring the fire and fight back as Arne Slot is as boring as they come. How he can inspire you to play your best and try your hardest is beyond me.

The club must surely see this, the fans have given up on him now, so have the players. But there is still lots to play for, we need to go back to basics and just play quicker and run more and want it more, the fans will be all over that and we will surely finish season strong.

I'm afraid Arne Slot is on borrowed time, and if he doesn't go I seriously question the club and my ability to get fully behind the team with this soul destroying slow paced football we've become accustomed to.

3

24 Mar 2026 13:38:00
Does that include Slot too, Carra?

1

24 Mar 2026 13:39:56
Flipping heck, Carra, spoil my day, why don't yah? :-))

1

24 Mar 2026 13:50:20
Cheers, Carra. When you say nothing will be decided until summer, is that to do with Hughes and Edwards' future or Slot being sacked and a new manager being installed?

0

24 Mar 2026 13:59:47
They're waiting to see if we fluke the Champions League, that's it.

Coz let's face it, if he wins the Premier League and European Cup in his first two seasons, that's ridiculous, and he'd have to stay on, simple as that.

3

24 Mar 2026 14:50:45
I don't think I can stomach much more of Slot ball.

5

24 Mar 2026 15:20:15
Edwards could learn from the Isak deal and go back to finding rough diamonds like Bobby, Mane and Mo, and besides, Alonso is and was his first choice for manager, so I'd personally like to see how that combination works.

Hughes does not sound like a Liverpool man by all accounts - SA/Dubai will suit him better.

3

24 Mar 2026 15:41:28
LiverpoolFC8, Surely, even winning the Champions League can save Slot his job... If we win and he stays, I think a lot of fans will give up their tickets and support. Only a one way street now.

0

24 Mar 2026 16:22:30
That's it... Carra is now officially on Santa's naughty list.... Bloody hell, mate!!!

2

24 Mar 2026 16:44:05
LiverpoolFC8, why can't he be let go of if he wins the CL this season? I can think of many managers who won trophies then were sacked before the next season started, and at least one who has won the CL then been sacked.

If it's best for the club then it's the right decision. Slot ball is awful and dull, and the players look devoid of any fight. He has to go.

2

24 Mar 2026 17:44:01
It's been known for a while, Hughes will be leaving. I have mentioned exactly that on a few occasions.
I understand Edwards will not be leaving in the summer.
Slot is done, whether that is before the season finishes or not, he's done.

Gerrard has already agreed to take over as interim if needed, and the club decide to pull the plug before the end of the season.

10

24 Mar 2026 18:26:29
Thanks, Robbo.

If the decision is to let Slot go, then do it now.
Give the interim manager something to fight for.

Waiting until we are out of CL or can't any longer qualify for next season's CL is really unfair on the interim manager.
Yes, it should have been done earlier, but if it's to be done, then do it now.

If they decide not to sack him now in this international break, then stick with him to the end of the season. Not what I would go with, imo, as I'd want an interim to be able to fight for something.

2

24 Mar 2026 09:44:08
Could Liverpool be possibly holding off on sacking Slot and replacing him now with Alonso, as they in fact favour Luis Enrique who has yet to become available?

7

24 Mar 2026 10:36:38
If people haven't realised by now, there is no plan. We are crawling towards second rate European football and the ownership have frozen.

16

24 Mar 2026 10:43:44
FSG have turned a £300m club into a £3bn+ club and have appointed two managers who both won the League for us - something that hadn't happened in the previous 30 odd years. Show a bit of respect. I would expect the on-field issues to be addressed at the end of the season, and us to be contenders on all fronts next season.

39

24 Mar 2026 11:04:13
Hope so, Bergers.

2

24 Mar 2026 11:14:54
I can't think of any sane reason why Enrique would leave a club in the champions league, who have a settled squad, and has unlimited funds, for a side who are in a bit of a mess, in need an overhaul in midfield, defence and out wide, and who are unlikely to have the funds to adequately do it, as well as not being in the champions league (at the rate we're going).

For the record, I don't see this as being on FSG, this is squarely at the door of the circle jerkers Slot, Hughes & Edwards.

10

24 Mar 2026 11:39:42
Well said, WdW ...

6

24 Mar 2026 11:40:11
Name me how many players in the last 20 years have come from our academy to be regular first team players.

Not many is the answer. Yes, we love a young lad coming through, but am I going to get all pent up over some young kid chasing a quick buck over development. No im not.

Many kids leave, many more will do going forwards.

Thats life - chill out MK.

For every one that leaves, another arrives, poached from elsewhere. It happens all the time in football. We nicked Rio from Chelski!!

Calm down, and dont worry about kiddies, the stress will do you in pal.

Much love BK.

5

24 Mar 2026 12:09:19
BK, I've laid out all my points on the thread below. It serves nobody for me to re-post them again and again. Read them or don't, it's your choice.

Did you watch the League Cup final on the weekend, by the way? City won 2-0 if you missed it. Both goals from an academy graduate, Nico O'Reilly.

2

24 Mar 2026 13:34:48
Rio and Nyoni are both getting minutes in the PL and CL. It's not like Slot refuses to play youth, it's just that he won't take a chance on youth when he thinks that an experienced player can plug the gap. He gave Nallo a chance twice, and he got 2 red cards. He needs to be convinced before players get a chance on the pitch, and it is not just youth. It's the same with the likes of Endo and Chiesa.

It's also worth pointing out that he did play loads of youth players when throwing away the League Cup.

If you're good enough, you will get game time and I think that the problem lies more with the players available in the academy. The club seems to agree and has been actively trying to bring quality in over the last couple of years.

1

23 Mar 2026 21:21:44
Another tough one - Vincent Joseph (U18) has agreed to join Manchester United, which stings given we're already dealing with Abe's decision to move to Manchester City after being offered what I was told was "ridiculous wages". That said, the fight for Abe isn't over. The club is pushing hard to change his mind, and there's still genuine hope he stays.

Worth keeping in mind that everything is coming through player agencies at this stage, so take it all with a pinch of salt until something more concrete emerges.

On a brighter note, Luca Eden (U18) is being highlighted as the best young player to come through the academy since TAA.

13

23 Mar 2026 23:47:40
TAA's snake of a brother involved in any of these outgoings?

5

24 Mar 2026 05:58:34
Luca Eden is 15 years of age. That's a bold statement.
I've seen him at close quarters as he used to play against my lad and the team I coached (and still coach) in grassroots footy.
I'd love him to make it, but I fear he'll lack the natural speed, power and physicality to make it at the top level.

Great awareness and football brain though.
Last time I saw him play was in a schools cup final game a couple of years ago. Head and shoulders the best player, but again lacked speed and power.
I would love him to succeed despite those natural attributes, but calling him the next TAA feels premature.

3

24 Mar 2026 07:52:57
Can you really blame these guys for jumping ship? Kone-Doherty has already gone. Josh Abe and Vincent Joseph will just be the next in a long line of departures from the academy for as long as Slot is in charge. Let's not forget that Elliott, Quansah and Morton all left last summer (although Elliott might not end up being permanent, as was planned) due to a lack of gametime.

Go back 5 years when Klopp was in charge and we were the place to be for a young footballer. The reason why was because Klopp had a proven track record of giving young players a chance. Under his tutelage we saw Kelleher, Trent, Bradley, Quansah, Elliott and Jones all become regular first team players. Not to mention the faith he put in academy players during an injury crisis (Phillips, N.Williams, R.Williams, Bajcetic, McConnell, Danns, Morton, Clark, Gordon, Doak, Koumas etc., none of whom became regulars but all of whom had the opportunity to do so).

If you were a young player at Liverpool 5 years ago, you literally could guarantee that if you did your part, the manager would see you and put his faith in you. We simply do not have that anymore. Rio, Nallo and Nyoni are effectively it, in terms of who's been given a chance. Even then though, Slot seems to prefer putting his favourite players out of position to cover injuries than actually give a youngster a start when it matters.

We may as well get used to this, because any new manager now has to rebuild that reputation we had as a club who gave young players opportunities. So I'd anticipate quite a few exciting young players will be poached from our academy. Man City and Man Utd actually play young academy players. So can you blame our young lads for thinking the grass is greener?

18

24 Mar 2026 08:01:11
Really wouldn't worry about what kiddies do.

Very few ever make first team football, and if they do move, we will be compensated for our time.

7

24 Mar 2026 08:17:26
FatSpanishWaiter, TAA's brother represents Abe unfortunately...

6

24 Mar 2026 08:42:44
BeKind, that's a very ignorant outlook in my opinion. I mean just on the very base requirements you seem to be forgetting that the Champions League has a rule of 4 club trained players in the 25 man squad. So effectively if our academy is not producing at least a handful of first team quality players, then we effectively have a 21 senior player squad cap in that competition.

But you're also not considering the little things. Like the lift the fans get when "one of our own" bursts through. Your comment shows a lack of understanding of Liverpool FC itself, and what the club historically stands for. This is a club who sing "the scouser in our team". During many bad seasons the fans have been able to hold on to hope by seeing young talent, that provides that optimism for the future.

As the fan of a club which has produced Mcmanaman, Fowler, Carragher, Owen, Gerrard and Trent at times when the club was struggling to compete financially, you should fully appreciate how important the academy is. We would never have been able to attract a player like Gerrard to the club with where we were in 1998-2004. He almost on his own at times, prevented this club from becoming irrelevant in the top club debate. Without Gerrard, there is probably no Klopp era.

Also, our ethos as a club is creating a togetherness, and that's the reason why Klopp pushed to have the academy and the first team training centres combined and moved to the same site. Merging Melwood and Kirkby was a massive step in rediscovering what our great club is about. If Klopp put that much weight of importance on the academy, why do you think you know better?

Baffling comment mate. I've been on here for 17 years and it's probably the worst take I've ever read here. Anybody not concerned by the damage the Slot regime is doing to the academy, just doesn't get what Liverpool FC stands for in my opinion. In my mind at least, It's no coincidence that our worst period on the pitch about 6 decades was 2009-2012 and it coincided with the 3 year period that our academy produced absolutely nothing of any quality. Even in 2013 when we had a run at the title, we had a huge boost from Flanagan and Sterling bursting onto the scene and becoming starters.

I'll bet you right now that this club has never won a trophy without an academy player/Scouser in the first team. If you still don't get why you are just simply wrong on every level, then maybe this is the wrong club for you. If you'd told Ronnie Moran, Tommy Smith, Ian Callaghan, Phil Thompson or Steven Gerrard not to worry about what's going on at the academy I think you'd have got a right earful.

14

24 Mar 2026 09:00:49
Can you blame these young players for wanting to leave? Unfortunately, Slot isn't offering them any opportunities. Leoni has been injured since September; it's almost April, and Slot hasn't been able to develop a single defender from the academy - he hasn't even brought them to training to serve as the fourth-choice center back on the roster. Isak has been injured since December; Figueroa had a fantastic season, yet he didn't get a single chance to even sit on the bench or play a few minutes against Barnsley.

Will Wright returned to the U21s at the end of December and has played well for them since his return. Wouldn't it have been better to have him on the bench for the first-team matches rather than having two goalkeepers there? Wouldn't it have been better to be able to bring him on after Ekitike's injury and play with a striker?

12

24 Mar 2026 09:13:43
The kiddies will continue to go when the head coach hasn't visited them in his 2 years here and has no plans for them.

5

24 Mar 2026 09:35:13
If we are not going to get a second club, we will have to change the way we look at the academy once again. That will mean either improving our loan model or playing the kids in the first team more. I vote for the latter. But, we would need a coach who is brave enough.

2

24 Mar 2026 09:40:59
If they leave, it will be over the money cap for 1st yr scholars. Nothing to do with opportunities Slot will give them. He will not be here soon anyway.

0

24 Mar 2026 09:51:34
The money cap does not exist for the top players at the Academy. Rio was on more than publicised, Will Wright too, and quite a few others. Abe, if he stays, will be on the most ever given to an Academy player at Liverpool.

3

24 Mar 2026 09:52:22
Spot on, mTn. Great post.

3

24 Mar 2026 10:01:57
Sami, I don't even bother with the Slot apologists anymore. The mental gymnastics they will do to defend him is now just embarrassing. Excellent response though, mate. Think that's obliterated his point quite comprehensively.

5

24 Mar 2026 10:45:23
Didn't we just sign 4 young defenders who come with a big reputation? It's swings and roundabouts.

3

24 Mar 2026 11:24:47
WDW, in most businesses staff retention is considered the mark of good leadership, not staff turnover. It's much easier to sell your project to someone external, than it is to sell it to someone internal; as they will have seen that your actions don't match your words.

2

24 Mar 2026 11:28:22
Rio came to us from Chelsea.

It happens, don't worry about it.

3

24 Mar 2026 11:38:53
Slot doesn't even spend time with the first team squad. He's hardly likely to spend time with the youth team.

3

24 Mar 2026 14:45:03
The cap for 1st year scholars is in place for all the lads coming through the yr groups. They are given bonus if moved to the 23s and first team. But if they are injured or kept in the 18s throughout their 1st yr they are capped. End of discussion.
Have a nice day.

0

23 Mar 2026 21:01:17
I’ve seen this posted elsewhere. Can any of the ITKS confirm…

All coaches Liverpool have held discussions with have indicated they would only be available to take over this summer.

This could explain the club's reluctance to make an immediate change and their preference to retain Arne Slot until the end of the season minimum.

Liverpool do not want to go down the Interim Route.

Time will tell how the situation develops.

1

23 Mar 2026 23:52:43
Makes a lot of sense and something I just posted a query, Raceylfc.

Any talks held with Luis Enrique that you know of?

Can you blame them? Makes far more sense to come in and have a full pre season without the pressure of having to make an immediate impact with a squad that is lacking fitness and confidence. Great if results go your way, immediate pressure if they don't.

We just need to support the team through to the rest of the season now.
