Would Brighton be interested in any of our players to add to a deal for Caicedo? Ox or Phillips maybe? Think he would be just the tonic.

LavishMctavish

1.) 28 Jan 2023 08:34:07
Maybe write them a begging letter?

2.) 28 Jan 2023 09:10:46
Seems to be rumours that at least one prem club is negotiating for Phillips apparently. Don’t know who it is but I think if he does go it will be Phillips out and possibly Berge in or a loan deal.

Don’t forget we have Aurthur back soon who will be like a new signing in some ways. He could end up having a great second half of season.

3.) 28 Jan 2023 09:26:39
Flash the Red, what a great reply the funniest one on here for a while! but it's probably true as well?

4.) 28 Jan 2023 09:48:18
Just checked out the stats for Brightons first choice midfield, they have played almost every game with one missing 3 games the rest are 19 or 18, they have 12 goals between them not including Solly's as he is MF/ F, they truly have an excellent s outing team at that club and if they had the money to hold onto their stars they would be a force. The 60+m they get for Caceido would probably be well spent on the next PL star as their scouts are doing amazi g work unearthing gem after gem.

5.) 28 Jan 2023 10:08:16
Jones Red, if Arthur can get fit he could be a great option in midfield because let's be honest, the bar has not been set very high by our current bunch of midfielders.

6.) 28 Jan 2023 10:17:05
And yet Brighton are an absolutely massive 2 points ahead of us after 19 games and we are having our worst season in 5 or 6 years.

As regards Caicedo - he’s been at Brighton for. 6 months, has won nothing and despite his (much praised on social media) efforts Ecuador didn’t quite manage to win the World Cup.

When decent conversations break out on here people talk about the qualities of the person as well as the skills of the player. imagine the uproar if VVD or Ali or Mo took to twitter with a message that read ‘Thanks for bringing me over to Europe, I’ve been here 6 months and I’m off to another club - thanks and see ya’.

Right player at the right price? ‘My ar#e’ as Jim Royle would have said.

7.) 28 Jan 2023 10:32:52
Why would they want any of our players they can collect big on caicedo and their scouts are brilliant they will have another good replacement! It’s their scouts we need because ours are all siting in Dortmund hoping for a miracle!

8.) 28 Jan 2023 10:45:04
@Jay - why are Brighton’s scouts brilliant? What have Brighton won that makes them good, let alone brilliant?

9.) 28 Jan 2023 11:28:35
WDW, it's all relative. I read that their team that beat us 3-0 cost £31m combined. That's incredible scouting whatever way you dress it up.

10.) 28 Jan 2023 12:09:47
WDW, we have 'the best manager in the world' and Klopp has spent over 650m on players, so to be ahead of us in the league and to give us a good hammering in last game is a very very impressive achievement, on top of MK Scouser point that their team cost 31m you'd have to admit that's seriously impressive on the budget that club has and without the best manager in the world.

11.) 28 Jan 2023 12:20:28
MK Scouser, how much did that LFC team cost that Brighton bet, purely out of curiosity?

12.) 28 Jan 2023 12:32:51
I don't get all these arguments about scouting tbh. We are "shopping" for players at the highest level, players who are closer to the finished article.

Also, hindsight is great and all but ask yourself honestly, what your reaction would be if we had bought Caicedo 18months ago? Most on here would probably lose their minds and claim that our owners aren't supporting Klopp, similar to the argument we are hearing now with the loan signing of Arthur. Plus, Caicedo is this good now because Brighton gave him the space and time to make mistakes and improve improve. Would he have developed the same with us here? I don't think he would even get a game last season if he came to us tbh.

13.) 28 Jan 2023 13:53:53
Dracred - so perhaps we don't need scouts or a sporting director then?

14.) 28 Jan 2023 14:51:07
Brighton are a small club absolutely tiny to LFC!
They don’t generate the funds we do but the players they sign are doing well and sellin for big money!
They’ve also a wc winner in their team all both for pittance!
You’re asking why I say that about their scouting team? I told u not one of our mids gets into their team!

15.) 28 Jan 2023 16:44:44
Jay dub red - understand the spirit of your point but our scouts are probably brilliant too. It's just that we're choosing not to buy in those markets. Scouts don't make recruitment decisions.

16.) 28 Jan 2023 21:06:17
McGoveb, i haven't seen the number on that reportes but:
Alisson 65m
Trent 0m
Matip 0m
Konate 36m
Robbo 8m
Fabinho 40m
Thiago 20m
Hendo 20m
Gakpo 50m
Salah 35m
Ox 35m

So about £300m mate. Anybody calling out Brighton's scouts needs to give their head a wobble ?.

17.) 29 Jan 2023 01:05:50
I'm not saying that we don't need scouts or a sporting director, FPF, and I have no idea how you got that from my post. I'm saying that the player Caicedo was 18months ago would most likely not have been considered as "good enough" for our team. Plus, he's only as good as he is now after 18 months of first team football, which we would not have been able to give him. Teams like Brighton are able to give him that kind of development because their players are under less pressure to perform so can better develop.

18.) 29 Jan 2023 10:10:09
MKS, I hear you on Brighton’s scouting network who could have signed Darwin 2 years ago at Almería had Benfica not coming with a bigger offer.

What I would ask you is that do you think many of our fans would have welcomed Caicedo as a shrewd/ smart signing had we signed him for a world record fee of 4m (what BHA paid for him) or do you think there would have been a full blown meltdown by the usual suspects on here and the doom-gloomers in the fantaseren threatened a riot at Anfield to get FSG out? Thoughts?

25 Jan 2023 22:30:36
what your thoughts are on Mbappe staying at PSG for so long? Do you know if he is looking to leave and people cannot afford him? Basically do you expect a move in the summer? Sorry just seems a long overdue transfer and I would love to see what he could achieve in a team that actually challenges for top honours.

LavishMctavish

1.) 26 Jan 2023 06:02:03
Are you praying that might be Liverpool under the stewardship of FSG by any chance?

2.) 26 Jan 2023 06:46:56
Well he would have been more affordable if he hadn’t signed a new contract not that long ago.

3.) 26 Jan 2023 07:25:12
I think the chance went last summer when he could have been signed for free. Now highly doubtful with a transfer fee included.

4.) 26 Jan 2023 08:32:38
Maybe Mbappe likes where he is? Maybe the environment and his teammates just completely float his boat, and it's not as if he's being underpaid there.

21 Jan 2023 20:40:12
I am not being funny, but Klopp keeps starting Keita despite him being an absolute s. house. And refused to take off Gakpo who was totally useless for the entire match. Oh and his persistence to play Salah who to me looks the exact opposite of a footballer at the moment and should be no where near the first team. Love Klopp, but he has totally lost credibility for his constant mind boggling decisions and is downright pig headed as well.

LavishMctavish

1.) 21 Jan 2023 21:04:11
I know you are passionate and hurting but he hasn’t lost any credibility. He’s just going through a rough patch with the team. Things need to change tactics wise imo but he’s the best manager we’ve had in decades. I’ve no doubt he’ll get us back to where we were. I would say that salah has looked a shadow of himself for a season and a half. Not just this season. But across the board there are problems that no signings are going to fix. Get back to training. Get back to pressing. Get some intensity going and get some points.

2.) 21 Jan 2023 21:13:55
Great summary Lavish, we’ll thought out and clearly stated.

3.) 21 Jan 2023 22:18:56
Who else is he supposed to play? Hendo and Fabinho have been garbage as well and John Henry has frozen his Monzo card.

4.) 21 Jan 2023 22:53:30
We’ve had a bad season lads. Let’s not throw out everything. The last few years since klopp has come in has been amazing. He’s also been amazing his entire career. You don’t just get rubbish overnight. #believe and all that.

5.) 21 Jan 2023 23:39:57
Salah has only looked himself this season when linking up with Nunes so obviously didn't help him today with Nunes not starting and then coming on the opposite side of the pitch. It's a cliche but transition seasons are a real thing. We just have to hit a purple patch and do enough to finish top 4 go again.

{Ed025's Note - hmmmm. The old transition chestnut. He got his money and since has been Turkish delight. Suck it up mate..

6.) 21 Jan 2023 23:41:45
100% aoe.

7.) 21 Jan 2023 23:39:57

9.) 22 Jan 2023 00:34:19
I’ll take the double praise.

10.) 22 Jan 2023 00:28:01
LOL Ed025. Coming on here to take your mind of something else? Getting seriously worried for your lot now. Big Sam incoming?

{Ed025's Note - I wish mate..

11.) 22 Jan 2023 11:27:30
He is out of form but the front three would have been worse without a below par Salah in there.
Who could take his place?

17 Jan 2023 17:59:33
Please tell me that the Ruben Neves rumours are false? We need a DM before we purchase a CM also if he is the best CM we can do then there really are dark days ahead.

LavishMctavish

1.) 17 Jan 2023 18:24:23
They are completely true!

**I have no idea really. I just want to see him freak out**.

2.) 17 Jan 2023 18:38:50
And there was me thinking we needed a midfielder. CM, DM I can't be doing with all that ?. Klopp isn't going to buy whichever midfielder forum members fancy.
He can pass, tackle, shoot and if he's available, I don't see what the problem is.
Oh, and he's 25.

3.) 17 Jan 2023 18:52:40
OK.
The Ruben Neves rumours are false.
Done.
You did make the request.

4.) 17 Jan 2023 18:53:59
DM, CM? The FIFA brigade is out in force today.

5.) 17 Jan 2023 18:59:24
I rate him ?.

6.) 17 Jan 2023 19:15:31
Neves is a decent player and is an improvement on most of our midfielders. But I don’t think he’s the player we need IMO. Great technically but too slow for me.

7.) 17 Jan 2023 19:28:56
His shooting is absolutely shocking and skies 90% of his shots out of the stadium just as Roberto Carlos did. Slow also but yeah maybe he is better than what we have currently. And no Thunderbird I am part of the Champ Man brigade ?.

8.) 17 Jan 2023 19:53:07
Certainly a upgrade on milner naby and ox. What's wrong with that?

9.) 17 Jan 2023 19:57:52
He's not coming anyway so we can all go back to moaning about a midfielder not coming instead of one coming.

10.) 17 Jan 2023 20:58:17
I'd sooner Bajcetic get the minutes.

11.) 17 Jan 2023 22:00:22
Blasphemy OMM, why would we want players developed through the Academy system when we can play the ‘We should sign X, he’s an upgrade on zy’ game twice a year.

Mind you, there’s a couple of good you players doing well at Blackburn and Aberdeen this season. If The clubs put them up for sale for £20 - £30m they might be an upgrade on what we have now….

12.) 17 Jan 2023 22:20:05
You've made that stat up, haven't you, Lavish?

14 Jan 2023 16:59:37
Hope Stevie doesn’t take the Poland job, I think he could be the answer and would love to his return as manager. Now is the time!

LavishMctavish

1.) 14 Jan 2023 17:15:16
Not sure if irony or not…!

2.) 14 Jan 2023 17:15:52
Not a chance, would be the worst thing to happen to us.

3.) 14 Jan 2023 17:18:09
Lavish I hope that is sarcasm mate. Stevie was a great player no doubt, but an awful manager.

4.) 14 Jan 2023 17:18:30
I know its bad, but it's not that bad.

5.) 14 Jan 2023 17:18:49
He was awful at AV why would we want him beyond nostalga.

6.) 14 Jan 2023 17:24:36
Failed at Villa and you think he's the answer for us?

{Ed025's Note - only if he puts his boots on keith..

7.) 14 Jan 2023 17:26:12
Things are dire, but is it really that dire lavish? Let klopp see out the season, we will be out of Europe but hopefully with new owners to invest and rebuild. maybe with a new manager with fresh energy. But not Gerrard.

8.) 14 Jan 2023 17:28:43
I wouldn’t say he’s the worst choice, I think that’s sat in the dug out with him.

9.) 14 Jan 2023 17:43:29
I wouldn't want Stevie or anyone to replace Klopp, I'd like to see him replace Ljinders though.

10.) 14 Jan 2023 17:30:10
He couldn’t do any worse than what we're seeing right now. Certainly wouldn't put up with the lack of fight. If Klopp walks I'd have him in for the remainder of this season to see how it went.

{Ed002's Note - Have him on losn?}

11.) 14 Jan 2023 17:32:09
Rafa and Stevie dream ticket lads. I keep saying it.

12.) 14 Jan 2023 18:09:30
And I keep ignoring it @something red.

13.) 14 Jan 2023 18:19:26
Madrid were useless under Benitez sacked him got Zidane and won 3 CLs on the spin. Id rather new owners than a new manager but he'd be front runner for me if Klopp left.

14.) 14 Jan 2023 18:28:47
Stevie G is absolutely not the answer. If Klopp were to leave it would set the club back without question. Investment in the midfield needs to be made and we need to get back to the style of football that Klopp brought with him from Dortmund. We cannot play a possession style with the midfield we have, it just won't work and it is proven out every single week.

15.) 14 Jan 2023 18:29:08
What are they going to do with no money aswell, we have the best manager we have also the worst owners.

16.) 14 Jan 2023 18:30:51
I'd sooner see us in the championship than that donkey of a manager in charge.

17.) 14 Jan 2023 18:33:56
Lavish gets his kicks of setting us off. He knows the buttons to push and he loves pushing them.

18.) 14 Jan 2023 21:23:56
Stevie should take the Poland job and STAY there.

{Ed014's Note - Jesus are things that bad someone wants Gerrard as manager!

Thank god they left it too late for Amrabat that is great news. An average player for a inflated fee. Now let’s talk Gavi of Barcelona any truth to Liverpool’s interest?

He will want the champions league as much as City do it’s quite clear. Until this point the high wages and home comforts have kept him at PSG it is time he moves, I don’t see them achieving the miraculous as we did in 2005 with Stevie.

I thought Real Madrid would be looking at Mbappe they have heaps of central midfielders. Mbappe will never win a champions league at PSG and is probably about time he left isn’t it? How many years will he waste there. Or maybe we will buy both ???‍♂️?.

Any funds we can raise for a re build would be welcome the club has plenty of talented young goalkeepers more than most clubs in fact. Selling Kelleher Gomez Phillips Fabinho Tsimikas (replace with youth player) release Keita Ox. And on the fence about Jones still. But we need sales and these are the only players I would not mind to see leave. Unless we got £80 million for Salah hand would be bitten off. The problem at the minute is half the side are young and hungry players with bags of potential the other half are old and done it all and happy to bumble on towards the end of their career. Any money raised for a centre half and 3 midfielders to try and get our team back in a good place would be beneficial.

Tsimikas is never going to be Robbo’s successor he should be sold to raise money and a youth player can cover. Gomez should be sold and a new CB signed. People are trying to blame Lijnders but it is quite obvious the squad has been managed terribly and is the main problem.

We would still be playing with ten men when Salah plays bar the Napoli game that is. So I would say it would have not changed much especially mixed with the midfield problems. We desperately need Dias Firmino Nunez and Jota fit to do anything this season.

He was terrible for Holland in the World Cup and I never once thought I would want him at Liverpool but hey he is here and fully support the lad. He is definitely raw and has a lot to learn he seems like a very safe and sensible player. Once settled and with more confidence he could be a good rotation player from the bench. Dias and Nunez are our best forward players its up in the air about who should get the third spot atm.
